The next big music magazine.

About the magazine:
 ‘The Herts Music Scene’ is a magazine with the main genre of music focusing
around pop music. However in Hertfordshire there is a variety of different styles of
music so I decided to include features of information about folk, rock etc..
 It includes features from different artists from Hertfordshire, some mainstream and
some local.
 Also there’s competitions where you can win tickets to go to a festival.
 There’s information on the top 10 music festivals in Hertfordshire.
 Even though this magazine is aimed at 18-24 year olds, there is content in this
magazine that can apply to all different sorts of age ranges.
What makes ‘The Herts Music Scene 'different?
 The USP of this magazine is that we include a variety of different types of content
that satisfies different customer needs.
 For example, as well as having a mainstream artist being the main focus of the
magazine, I also have other mainstream artists featuring for example, Geri
Halliwell.However there’s also features of less well known bands from
hertfordshire,for example the ignitions and the absoloutes.Featuring them in this
magazine can help them become more popular so there’s more bands of folk and
rock.
The front page
 One of my main focuses of my magazine is to make my magazine stand out from
the other so it entices people to buy it, to do this I wanted to make sure the front
cover is aesthetically pleasing and eye-catching.
 One of the ways I have decided to do this is to include something where you can
win tickets to go see something, I put this at the top right hand corner of the front
page because this sticks out on the racks when you go and buy a magazine.
 I also don’t give a lot away as well, as this would want to make the reader to
wanting to know more which leads them to buying it.
 Also another main focus is to make sure that it’s aesthetically pleasing so its
important that the themes and colours match, which is why I stuck to three main
colours.
Colours and fonts
 The three main colours I chose was navy, magenta and black
 It’s important that I stick by these colours throughout the magazine as it makes it
more appealing to the customers.
 The font I used is ADOBE MING STD L,this font comes across as appealing and it
goes with my magazine.
Double page spread
 The first two pages of the magazine will be a questionnaire focused around
George Ezra, and he will be answering a variety of different types of questions.
 The questions will be a selection for example his view on certain musicians/the
music industry today and more personal questions for example, the meanings and
who inspired each song that he’s written.
 I want the questions to be intriguing and different as I don’t want the audience to
feel like it’s just like all of the other questionnaires that pop singers do in
magazines.
Distribution and Marketing
 The distribution will mainly be in local shops in Hertfordshire, this is mainly
because the singers/bands grew up from Hertfordshire or are based around
Hertfordshire.
 However after a while, distribution could maybe grow outside of Hertfordshire, to
then have people visiting Hertfordshire for it’s music.
 One of the main marketing points that this magazine has is it’s variety of different
content, because it has features from local to mainstream artists, exclusive
interviews and questionnaires,comeptitions and different information on festivals
and genres of music.
Funding/budget
 ‘THE HERTS MUSIC SCENE’ is part of a big company in Hertfordshire that has
the props and equipment needed to do the photoshoots,and fund towards the
making of the magazine.
 The budget of the magazine will depend on the content of the magazine, the artists
and whereabouts the photo shoots are done.
 So with this magazine there is a larger budget because we're featuring a lot of
different content and featuring popular mainstream artists.
Competition
 I was aware that there is a lot of music magazines, so I wanted ‘THE HERTS
MUSIC SCENE’ to stand out.
 To do this, I needed to see what content music magazines weren’t featuring. I
found that mainly only pop mainstream artists are featured throughout the whole
magazine. Because Hertfordshire has a range of different music genres I decided
to use that and include two local bands which are not pop and feature them in the
magazine.
Target audience
 Our primary target audience is 18-26 year olds, this is because George Ezra's
music is mainly listened to in this age group, and this is the age group that likes to
be keeping up on the latest news on celebrities.
 Our secondary audience is 38-45, even though George Ezra, festivals and keeping
up with celebrities attract the majority of the younger generation. People in this age
group appeal to George Ezra's music as well. Also they might show there children
who is of the primary target audience age and recommend them to read this
magazine as it might be of their interests.

However in Hertfordshire there is a variety of different styles of music so I decided to include features of information about folk, rock etc..  It includes features from different artists from Hertfordshire, some mainstream and some local.  Also there’s competitions where you can win tickets to go to a festival.  There’s information on the top 10 music festivals in Hertfordshire.  Even though this magazine is aimed at 18-24 year olds, there is content in this magazine that can apply to all different sorts of age ranges.
  • 3. What makes ‘The Herts Music Scene 'different?  The USP of this magazine is that we include a variety of different types of content that satisfies different customer needs.  For example, as well as having a mainstream artist being the main focus of the magazine, I also have other mainstream artists featuring for example, Geri Halliwell.However there’s also features of less well known bands from hertfordshire,for example the ignitions and the absoloutes.Featuring them in this magazine can help them become more popular so there’s more bands of folk and rock.

The front page  One of my main focuses of my magazine is to make my magazine stand out from the other so it entices people to buy it, to do this I wanted to make sure the front cover is aesthetically pleasing and eye-catching.  One of the ways I have decided to do this is to include something where you can win tickets to go see something, I put this at the top right hand corner of the front page because this sticks out on the racks when you go and buy a magazine.  I also don’t give a lot away as well, as this would want to make the reader to wanting to know more which leads them to buying it.  Also another main focus is to make sure that it’s aesthetically pleasing so its important that the themes and colours match, which is why I stuck to three main colours.

Colours and fonts  The three main colours I chose was navy, magenta and black  It’s important that I stick by these colours throughout the magazine as it makes it more appealing to the customers.  The font I used is ADOBE MING STD L,this font comes across as appealing and it goes with my magazine.

Double page spread  The first two pages of the magazine will be a questionnaire focused around George Ezra, and he will be answering a variety of different types of questions.  The questions will be a selection for example his view on certain musicians/the music industry today and more personal questions for example, the meanings and who inspired each song that he’s written.  I want the questions to be intriguing and different as I don’t want the audience to feel like it’s just like all of the other questionnaires that pop singers do in magazines.
  • 7. Distribution and Marketing  The distribution will mainly be in local shops in Hertfordshire, this is mainly because the singers/bands grew up from Hertfordshire or are based around Hertfordshire.  However after a while, distribution could maybe grow outside of Hertfordshire, to then have people visiting Hertfordshire for it’s music.  One of the main marketing points that this magazine has is it’s variety of different content, because it has features from local to mainstream artists, exclusive interviews and questionnaires,comeptitions and different information on festivals and genres of music.
  • 8. Funding/budget  ‘THE HERTS MUSIC SCENE’ is part of a big company in Hertfordshire that has the props and equipment needed to do the photoshoots,and fund towards the making of the magazine.  The budget of the magazine will depend on the content of the magazine, the artists and whereabouts the photo shoots are done.  So with this magazine there is a larger budget because we're featuring a lot of different content and featuring popular mainstream artists.
  • 9. Competition  I was aware that there is a lot of music magazines, so I wanted ‘THE HERTS MUSIC SCENE’ to stand out.  To do this, I needed to see what content music magazines weren’t featuring. I found that mainly only pop mainstream artists are featured throughout the whole magazine. Because Hertfordshire has a range of different music genres I decided to use that and include two local bands which are not pop and feature them in the magazine.

Target audience  Our primary target audience is 18-26 year olds, this is because George Ezra's music is mainly listened to in this age group, and this is the age group that likes to be keeping up on the latest news on celebrities.  Our secondary audience is 38-45, even though George Ezra, festivals and keeping up with celebrities attract the majority of the younger generation. People in this age group appeal to George Ezra's music as well. Also they might show there children who is of the primary target audience age and recommend them to read this magazine as it might be of their interests.
