Case Study Of Cellulitis
outcome measured the proportion of patients that had a repeat of cellulitis during the drug phase and
follow up phase (Thomas et al., 2013).
The results of this experiment showed some interesting information. In the end 136 patients were put
into the penicillin group and 138 patients were put into the placebo group. From these patients 15
(5%) took back consent or couldn t be found, 11 died (4%) and 206 (75%) were put into a secondary
care (Thomas et al., 2013). In total 247 (90%) of the patients did the minimum of 18 months of follow
ups and 214 (78%) said that they took at least 75% of the tablets between the two groups (Thomas et
al., 2013). During the trial, the primary outcome saw that it took a median of about 626 days in the ...

Antoher group was given clarithromycin and hydroxychloroquine mix 500 mg and 200 mg
respectively twice daily (Berende et al., 2016). And the other patients got placebos twice daily
(Berende et al., 2016). Everyone was blindly assigned.
At the end of the study 205 patients (73.2%) reported a minimum of one adverse effect, like diarrhea
or nausea (Table 2) (Berende et al., 2016). Nine people had a serious adverse effect and 19 had a bad
enough side effect that they discontinued with the study (Table 2) (Berende et al., 2016). In the end
though most of the patients made it throughout the whole study.
To measure results the researchers used a 36 question questionnaire at the beginning at the end of the
treatment of the 14 weeks, at 26 weeks, at 40 weeks, and finally 52 weeks after treatment (Berende et
al., 2016). From the results 252(90%) of the patients completed the study. 76 out of 86 for the
doxycycline, 64 out of 96 for the clarithromycin hydroxychloroquine and 92 out of 98 patients
finished from the placebo group (Berende et al., 2016).
At the end of the study the results showed some interesting results. By looking at the questionnaire
mean all the patients quality of life increased from the original of 31.8 to 36.4 at the end of the
treatment. Even though the scores were higher at the end of the treatment there was no significant
difference in any of the groups that were studied

What Are The Similarities Between The French Revolution...
France and Russia both underwent powerful revolutions. The French Revolution resulted in the
overthrow of the long established Bourbon monarchy. The Russian Revolution resulted in the
overthrow of the Roman Dynasty. Both the French and Russian Revolution were the direct result of
poor economic conditions, government corruption, and unjust treatment of the lower class. The pre
revolutionary events that led up to the French and Russian Revolutions had similar, yet different
causes and effects.
The French and Russian Revolution are similar because they both attempt to remake society and used
violence against citizens who resisted the new changes. The French Revolution was caused by a
terrible dictatorship and a bad economy, like Russia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette, who were getting the tax money, were spending
it on ridiculous items, like wigs, the lower class were getting more and more upset. Women started to
protest because they could not provide for their family because of the bread prices rising. The palace
where the king and queen were staying at was being invaded by all of the angry women which caused
the king and queen to fled. Later, the Bastille, the place where prisoners and ammunition was stored,
was also stormed into. However, when Louis XVI was executed, years later Napoleon became the first
emperor of France. Napoleon had to go through a series of successful military campaigns and create
advancements in the military to gain power. The revolution was a burden for France because it caused
the Reign of Terror along with other crisis.People were falling apart socially and politically. Napoleon
helped the people of France expand through Europe and keep Franc together after the Reign of Terror
and after the many casualties. He created new political codes and freedom to benefit the people of
France. Because of Napoleon, the French citizens demolished and redesigned their country s political

The Role Of Nature And Nurture In Language Development
There has always been a considerable debate over many of the developmental areas for early
childhood, however throughout this essay it is going to discuss the roles of Nature versus Nurture in
children s language development. Language development can be understood by in which the way
children will learn to communicate language in early childhood. Nature and nurture both play vital
roles for learning language in young children, as it is fundamental skill to learn language. Thames and
York s (2004, p. 603) reference states there are a range of factors that are involved in developing
literacy; suggesting that both nature and nurture contribute together in language development. To dig a
little deeper, we need to understand that there are four main components to language development:
Phonology, Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics. The nature nurture debate can be asked in two
questions. First, do children learn and acquire language through a prewired section that s built into
their brains from birth? Or secondly, do children learn language through the participation in their
environment? (Berk, 2013, p. 359) Language is an important skill that children acquire, as it s the key
to communicating, learning and thinking. Children will develop in all developmental areas through
play experiences, observing, interacting with others while mimicking some of these actions, this refers
to how phonology is such an important component of language development. Phonology is the way in

Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire
Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows
Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class
southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. The perception was that
women did not express their sexuality and wore clothing that did not expose any body parts. Also,
women did not have many roles except for a housewife, and two appropriate jobs as a teacher or a
nurse. Blanche is an English teacher from a Mississippi. She was raised in a wealthy family and got a
great education. At sixteen years old, she fell deeply in love with a boy named Allan Gray (Williams
1857). Their marriage served as different grounds for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away, he told his wife and Mitch about it. While Blanche was taking a bath she was singing, But
it wouldn t be make believe if you believe in me ( Williams 1861). Blanche knows that she lied to
Mitch and kept the truth from her sister. Thus, the lyrics she was singing show that she lives in her
world of illusions. That day, she was expecting Mitch to come over to celebrate her birthday.
However, he did not show up. At a table, Stanley gave Blanche a ticket back to Laurel as a gift,
knowing that she can not go back there. Stella was upset about it because she knew that it will ruin her
tender and trusting sister (Williams 1865). According to Encyclopedia Britannica, psychotic behavior
can come and go as a result of various influences. The effects of some drugs can cause psychotic
episodes, or a traumatic situation that affects a person s psychological well being might trigger the
episode of neurosis ( Neurosis ). Blanche feels like her future is slipping away from her and becomes
highly neurotic. In her head, she hears the same polka tune, the Varsouviana , (after which Allen shot
himself) and she started to drink to escape the reality (Williams 1866). The Same night when Mitch
came to confront her, she admits to him about intimacies and school expulsion. When he said that she
told him all lies, in return she said, Never inside, I didn t lie in my heart and I don t want realism. I
want magic! (Williams 1869). Maybe in her mind she was still married to Allen. At the very last, it
gives Blanche a credit for her honesty. Nothing in the play justifies the condemnation of her. Yet,
nothing justifies her innocence either after her husband s death (Thomieres

Persuasive Essay On Why Volunteers Are Important In Youth...
Volunteers are one of the most important things in youth sports. Because without volunteers there can
t be any games played or practices, and the kids won t get any better. Youth sports are important to the
kids because it helps kids be able to work as a team better and work together with other kids, it helps
them get better at the sport they re playing, and it teaches them discipline and dedication. And, the
better the kids get from playing in youth sport organizations, the higher chance they will have to
maybe play in High School, College, and maybe even the pros. Making youth sports available early on
can set people up to possibly play that sport for the rest of their life. Volunteers do a lot just so the kids
can have a good time and learn more skills about a sport. Most pf the people that are involved with a
sports organization do it for free and for the kids, if there wasn t volunteers, there s no sports. For
example, they organize schedules for the games/practices, they run the scoreboard/score book, they
run the snack bar, make food to sell at the snack bar, find places for the kids to practice and play in,
they order uniforms, and they coordinate fundraising. They make youth sports possible for the kids to
get better and learn the skills of the game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

youth sports, they ve helped ran competitions for my sisters cheerleading, they ve also contributed a

Theme Of Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is a story of love, ambition, hope, and their corruptions. Through
each member of the alley each of these ideas are explored, and a truth is revealed about the meanings
of these emotions and how they impact the way humans interact with one another. The stories of
Midaq Alley are each individual, but they come together to weave a bigger picture, a reflection on
both Western and Traditional Egyptian and Arab culture. Through the character of Hamida, a foster
daughter, the role of women and the ideas of power and corruption are all explored. The pimp,

Euloph Gideon
While heading into the Indian Territory, we traveled through the endless plains of Missouri for days
until we found a small lake hidden by closely dense trees in Westport. Near the opposite of the lake sat
a man peacefully unaware of our presence as he carefully sketched a deer drinking by the lake. It was
such a serene moment that neither Gideon nor I was willing to shoot the deer for dinner. After several
minutes, the man noticed and beckoned us to come over to his side of the lake by waving food into the
air. Usually, we would never approach an eccentric man like him, but our diminishing supply of food
persuaded us to move our wagon and horses towards him. With his warming smile, he made space for
us by lake and introduced himself as Thomas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reply, he laughed hysterically of my reasoning, and then joked that if I was only as inspired in art as
I was in writing, he would have gladly accepted me in his Hudson River school. Amused by my dream
to rival Cooper s talent in western adventure novels, he freely gave me a sketch of this lake as a
reminder of our meaningful conversation, whereas Gideon bought several sketches and paintings in
order to decorate his house back in Virginia. As a result, Cole contemplated whether if Gideon as an
aspired artist was crazier than me as an aspired writer. It was the meeting with Cole that motivated me
to begin my first chapter of my novel with a weary man contemplating about his bleak future by the
lake due to his life trapped into the fur trapping business. When I shared this chapter with Cole, he
emphasized, the most distinctive, and perhaps the most impressive, characteristic of American scenery
is its wildness, to remind me that wildness of the west would motivate me to complete my novel,
hence ending this journey. Once Gideon and I regained our strength, we parted ways with Cole and

Population Control And Overpopulation
I m sure that you have some sort of idea of the world population. Our world is starting to over
populate? If Earth history is compared to a calendar year, human life has existed for 23 minutes and
we have used one third of Earth s resources in the last 0.2 seconds.
45 years ago, in 2017. Denmark research team estimated that by 2025, the world population would be
over 8 billion people, around 2040 it could hit 9 billion and by 2070 it could reach a massive 10
billion people. It said that 10 billion is the magic number the earth can handle without being too
crowded.
Today in 2067, the population is around 11 billion, our planet is facing overpopulation problem. More
people means more resources, competitions, chaos and decrease in security and safety, which pose a
real challenge in the years to come. This fact alone is sufficient to urge humans to try to find solutions.
Today, the majority of people argues that security and safety could improve by population control.
Overpopulation acts as a new force that threatens and destroys peace. Population pressure has been a
source of human conflict over resources for thousands of years. More people means more competition,
such as for jobs, housings, wealth, education and so on. The movie Minority report shows that
overpopulation imposes a decrease in the security and safety of the public. One scene from the movie
shows what could possibly happen if there are too many people. In the scene, John Anderton was with

Essay Miracles
Miracles From the Latin word miraculum meaning object of wonder enters the word miracle. Many
definitions have been formed for the notion of a miracle but most would agree that it is most
commonly an unexplainable extraordinary event, inspiring awe and wonder unto its witnesses. Similar
definitions state that it is a supernatural event, contrary to the established constitution and course of
things or a deviation from the known laws of nature .
The term a priori refers primarily to the basis on which a proposition is known. If a statement has been
written a priori it has been made without prior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Hume s second argument puts forward, why many people will support a miracle claim, the
passion of surprise and wonder, arising from miracles being an agreeable emotion gives a sensible
tendency towards the belief of those events from which it is derived. Furthermore, Hume explains that
even those who did not enjoy that pleasure first hand yet love to partake of the satisfaction .... And
place a pride and delight in exciting the admiration of others. Hume s statement suggests many people
will have a natural tendency to suspend their reasoning when testifying to a miracle because of the
emotional effect it has on them.
Hume describes natural laws as having been established by firm and unalterable experience . What is
thought to be a miracle may be in fact a part of the world and part of the laws that we do not fully
understand yet.
Derived from the scientific understanding of the 18th century and the world, natural law was meant to
reflect the perfection of God, therefore it could not be broken. Conversely similar to miracles natural
law is left open to interpretation. Locke suggested that trust

2 Host to Host Sales Order System
IS (includes its information technology components) plays major role in today s business world. IS
helps enterprises improve business processes, drives revenue growth, helps them achieve cost
efficiency and more importantly, maintaining a competitive edge in the market place
Through period of time Pertamina implements numbers of IS to address various corporate s business
activities. Instead of gaining cost efficiency, these numbers of IS actually require company to put more

this problem.
Such as ERP s objective which is to integrate business processes across enterprise by using a single IS

Regardless of the implementation of ERP system has been covered all business activities in the
company, Pertamina s sales order activity is still being served through limited point of sales.
Pertamina s point of sales spread throughout 7 regional offices across the country (Pertamina, 2013).
This make sales activities less efficient, moreover it cannot meet customers expectations.

State Of The Essay
State of the Essay
The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that
scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major
amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the
last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That
is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my
students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this.
The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is
multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I
ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi
faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The
content of a 110 student s paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve
tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this
one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it
meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others
in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It still elicits

White Man s Burden Analysis
The concept of the White Man s Burden came from the Europeans belief that is was there job to shape
others into them, an idea that meant the Europeans viewed themselves as superior to the rest of the
world. The a thirst for power in Europe and nations sought ways to gain more. The widely unexplored
continent of Africa was viewed as a source of said power and for imperialism. Imperialism is when a
strong nation seeks to dominate another country politically, economically, and socially. The driving
force for imperialism was economic while competition and politics were propellers in their actions.
With money comes power, so whoever had the most money would have the most power in the world.

The Man Who Was Almost a Man
I am going to write a sequel to the short passage, The Man Who Was Almost A Man, which was
written by Richard Wright. I am going to start from the time where Dave received the pistol, to the
time where he got in trouble. After buying the pistol, Dave walks around the fields with it, admiring
the gun but too scared and unsure of how to fire it. He is very anxious about firing the gun. He waits
until it s dark and he s sure everyone has already fallen asleep before going home, and he puts the gun
underneath his pillow instead of giving it to his mother as he d promised. Mrs. Saunders approaches
him in the middle of the night and quietly asks for the gun, but Dave tells her that he stashed it outside
and will give it to her in the morning. When he wakes up, Dave removes the gun and holds it in his
hands, realizing that he now has the power to actually kill someone. He quietly gets out of bed and
hides the pistol in his clothes. He then heads out to the fields where he works, and he accidentally runs
into his boss, Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins knows this is very suspicious of Dave being out s early and
Dave tells him he is just out trying to enjoy the nice breeze outside. Mr. Hawkins tells him to carry on,
but deep down inside Mr. Hawkins knows something is wrong. Once Dave gets far away from where
anybody can see him he finally gains the courage to actually pull the trigger. He doesn t take the

Research Paper On Lou Gehrig
Lou Gehrig
The Roaring Twenties was a decade of American economy growth and consumerism following World
War I. During this time period, Americans turned to sports as a form of entertainment and started to
view athletes as stars. Among these athletes was a man named Lou Gehrig who played for the New
York Yankees. Babe Ruth, a New York Yankee slugger, overshadowed Lou Gehrig for much of the
twenties as he had a well known gift for hitting home runs. In addition, he best represented the
ideology of the Roaring Twenties for he was a gambler, drinker, and partier (Evans 2016).
However, this idolization changed when America took a turn for the worst when their stock market
crashed in 1929 ( Posts about Lou Gehrig on History For Free ). This economic collapse would leave
America in a decade long depression with little hope for the American people ( Posts about Lou
Gehrig on History For Free ) . In addition, the issue of war seemed to resurface and be more prevalent
than ever as Adolf Hitler took control of Germany and the Japanese invasion of Manchuria occurred in
Europe ( Posts about Lou Gehrig on History For Free ). Along with the ideas of war, The Dust Bowl
began in the Great Plains which left farmers out of work ( Posts about Lou Gehrig on History For Free
). With all of the terrifying events occurring, people turned to Lou Gehrig as a new type of hero that
gave them hope in the darkest times ( Posts about Lou Gehrig on History For Free ).

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies provide a
solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services that are
managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting (2010) suggest
that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet their distinct needs. A
definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the whole processes of supply
chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s preference. It is also conclude the
definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of external firms to provide logistics
services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the process that have traditionally been
performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics. The roles performed by the 3PL
providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The Client Company) derived from

Examples Of Conformity In The Giver
We all know what it feels like, to go to a new school and the excitement that follows. Then you go in
the building and suddenly the mood changes, everyone is staring at you. The excitement is only
distant memories and it makes you uncomfortable and you might even hate the school on first sight. If
conformity is put into place, then everyone will be happier and safer. I think conformity helps our
society by creating a more harmonized, safer, and a more balanced community.
Conformity is better than individualism as in the communities are safer. The novel The Giver by Lois
Lowry tells us about their conformitized community. Jonas, on page 63, says to the reader that the
community is extremely protective of every one in the community and that

The Mpaa Rating System Of America
The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of
America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies
(MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate
for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of
appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the
original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code
Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and
eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13
movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed
the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that
everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different
parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently
depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a
little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow
their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child
from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels
about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The
different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of
kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different
ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real
while older children are more mature and

These are only a few examples of how our personalities are brought out in our homes.
The home can be defined as the social unit formed by a family living together. So the home is not a
place, or is it? It has been said that the home is where the heart is , but where is your heart? The home
is also, perhaps, where your family is. A man who has a family does not feel at home when away from

For centuries, American literature has served as indication on the power of words to articulate
encouragement for change by creating a call to action. Indeed, literature the art that expresses life in
words (Tanvir, Para. 4) has the ability to transform the comprehensive human race. Consequently,
literature serves as a record of all the dreams that made such change a possibility throughout history.
Each successive era, literature begins and ends with great writers communicating their own message
to their intended readers. When skillfully written, enthusiastic, and engaging a piece of literature

Surely, there is enchantment established in terminology, words have the authority to rouse stimulation
for change and/or summon strong emotional elements. Keeping this in mind, Chopin intentionally put
consideration into finding specifically the suitable word selection and syntactical structure to further
suggest the meaning and central idea in The Story of an Hour . The short story is extremely effective
with only a small amount of short paragraphs consisting chiefly of only a few sentences. Style and
Readability in Business Writing recognizes that Very short sentences, isolated or in a series, are
terrifically effective in the right place (Olson, DeGeorge, and Ray, Para.2). Although The Story of an
Hour can be read in but a glimpse of time, the short forceful syntactical configuration effectively
invites the reader together with Louise on her journey for independence. Chopin manages to immerse
the readers alongside Mrs. Mallard to no avail of popular thoughts at that time. Simply put, due to the
short length of the story, Chopin tactically embellishes the need for self independence and how it can
alter a person within a matter of an hour. In a speedy yet fatal hour, Mrs. Mallard lives in a conflicting
past, an overwhelming present, and a hopeful future. Certainly, few stories possess the capability to

Childcare Breakdowns In The Workforce
The labor force of the United States has changed drastically over the last forty years. According to the
Department of Labor, in 2012, 64% of woman with children under the age of six are in the labor force.
While only 34% of mothers were working in 1970 (Gullekson, Griffeth, Vancouver, Kovner, Cohen,
2014). Furthermore, in 1974, 80% of kids under the age 17 were cared for by a parent (Morrissey
Warne, 2011). Given this dramatic increase of mothers in the workforce, there is a considerable
amount of time missed by the working parent. On average, American working parents miss nine days
of work per year and that number increases to thirteen as the child moves through daycare and into
elementary school. Breakdowns in childcare cost businesses three billion dollars annually
(Shellenback, 2004). Given these staggering numbers the demand for reliable and affordable childcare
has never been bigger. 1.1 Lightening University Lightening University is a new community college

Religion And Its Impact On Society
Even before there were millions of copies of bibles in circulation religion has been a part of society
that has always been there. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief system really
helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and discrimination?
With so many people involved or affiliated with religion it is important to explore deeper into the
negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better place with information
that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of accounting for a lack of knowledge
and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering a sense of belonging. To identify with a
religious ideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads to the tremendously negative consequences
of hatred, racism, and all kinds of violence. These consequences of a world in disarray due to religion
far outweigh the small personal fulfillments. As Steven Weinberg, an American physicist and Nobel
laureate states, With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil
people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. Although religion
claims to lead people towards truth, light, and happiness, in reality it actually leads them in the
opposite direction.
The most popular argument against religion in society is the fact that religion leads to war and
violence which then in turn results in poverty,

Punishment And Punishment Summary
Introduction
In the book Discipline and Punish, Foucault illustrates the history of the modern penal system, while
at the same time seeking to analyze punishment as a social aspect. Also, the book covers the effects of
power dynamics on the penalty. The book begins with an analysis of the historical situations before
the 18th Century when the primary forms of punishment administration were public execution and
corporal punishment. Investigations regarding criminal offenses were mainly carried out through
torture (Crisp, 2003). The penalties were ceremonial and directed towards the body of the prisoner; the
audience was necessary during the ritual. The public executions were considered to the kingdom as
they established the authority and power of the king. During the 18th Century, there were many
agitations for reforms on punishments. The reformists got the motivations from the need for the
considerations of the prisoner s welfare. Foucault and other people thought that the system was not
taking care of the well being, and hence there was a need to make operations of power more efficient.
The agitations led to the proposal of a theater of punishment where a complex system of
representations was publicly displayed. The sentences were related to the crimes and hence
discouraged people from lawbreaking.
An Overview of Foucault s Approaches
Foucault s approaches to punishment followed three significant ideas including the spectacle of the
scaffold; generalized punishment; and panopticism. The following is an overview of the three
ideologies.
The spectacle of scaffold
Despite the fact that the French penal ordinance set out very harsh penalties against punishment, there
was still a gap between theory and the punitive practice (Foucault, The spectacle of the scaffold,
2008). The exercise of torture and public execution were no longer frequently administered as forms
of punishment. However, use of torture as a considerable part of penalty still existed. In this
perspective, torture refers to an exact measurable amount of pain through the investment of the
economy of power. The use of torture was meant to be a tool for revealing the truth, which would be
determined at different degrees. The investigation process

How do firms in the supermarket industry make money?
Operating on very thin profit margins, players in the supermarket industry traditionally either focus on
a premium segment or follow a discounter strategy at the low end. Premium players address educated
and more price elastic consumers who value healthy, natural and organic food; the share of perishable
items for these players is normally distinctly higher. Players that focus on a discounter strategy offer a
higher share of simple necessity items and value price competitiveness over premium features like
healthiness or organic origin. Independently of the focused customer group it is imperative for players
in the supermarket industry to be cost efficient and optimize operations ... Show more content on

Thirdly, Trader Joe s stores are small and located in non prime locations, which holds fixed operating
costs at bay. Furthermore, the company is able to generate the industry s highest sales per square feet
in its small sized stores. In an effort to diversify from its competitors, Trader Joe s also relies on a non
traditional marketing strategy. Completely neglecting conventional marketing techniques like
commercials or promotional offers, the company focuses on unique and store specific in store
marketing with its newsletter and the occasional radio ad being its major means of communication
with its customers. The Trader Joe s brand with its vast fan base is naturally another part of the
company s competitive advantage.
What are the main threads to Trader Joe s competitive advantage? Is the company s competitive
advantage sustainable?
Trader Joe s faces several threats to its business, as competitors try to invade the company s niche and
attempt to imitate the company s core strategies. The supermarket industry itself faces a major threat,
as larger chains such as grocery retailers Wal Mart and Tesco have begun to open small format stores
that mimic the Trader Joe s approach. This invasion results in additional cost pressure for incumbents
like Trader Joe s, which had to let go employees in order to become more cost competitive.

United States, the Supreme Court did not see that as unreasonable search . In the 1928, case of
Olmstead v. United States the issue of whether of wiretapping constituted a search for purpose of the
Fourth Amendment was interpreted. Olmstead was convicted of conspiring to violate the National
Prohibition Act based on evidence obtained by tapping his telephone line from a junction box located
on the public street (Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to the text, The Court, nevertheless, rejected
Olmstead s claim that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. A search, the Court declared,
requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a seizure, the taking of
tangible things. Olmstead s Fourth Amendment rights were not violated by the interception of his
telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his property or took anything
tangible; his telephone conversations were acquired through their sense of hearing only ( Kanovitz,
2010, p.267). According to Katz, physical intrusion is not necessary to fall within the meaning of a
search because what a person seeks to preserve as private, even in an area accessible to the public
should remain private and the person has a right to expect privacy, hence the Fourth Amendment right
should apply. For instance, Katz usage of telephone booth provided the environment that allowed him

Jesus Christ Superstar Analysis
I think the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar gained much attention because it appealed to youth, but
appalled the older generation because of its rock theme and interpretations. After all, some believed
the theme went against the grain of the church (Bible) and how people viewed it. The brilliance in this
opera was to tell the story of Jesus Christ using rock music to tell the complete story of Jesus Christ
from beginning to end by providing a synopsis of the story as was told in the Bible. There are a ton of
excerpts from this opera that related to events happening in the 70s. The three themes that I chose are
fame, revolution and radicalism, and humility
Fame
Jesus Christ was the ultimate Superstar! It only took him three years to amass thousands of followers.
In Act 1 Simon Zealotes makes reference about the crowds of people who seek his attention. Christ
you know I love you. Did you see I waved? Touch me, touch me, Jesus. Kiss me kiss me, Jesus. As
you can imagine, as his glamour increased among the people, it would eventually lead to social
upheaval with both the Romans and the Jews. He was seen as both a savior by the people and trouble
to authoritarians.
The scene relates to the 70s in terms of having that rock star image with pop culture. Jesus popularity
with people and how they responded to him was like the 60s and 70s where teens idolized Elvis and
the Beetles. Also associate with Fame, especially with teens was not being accepted by

Speech On Yosemite National Park
Good morning! Today we will be going to Yosemite National Park. I hope you are prepared... Eddie,
the tourist guide, announced a little too enthusiastically for an early morning after my family and I
entered the bus. Taking a seat by the window, I tried drowning him out with my music, and then
proceeded to sigh when I could still clearly hear him through my headphones. I was annoyed, but not
because I did want to go to Yosemite; I just did not want spend time with the group of loud and
obnoxious tourists on the bus. When my family and I first agreed to go on a tour of Yosemite, I was
excited because I had never been there and I had heard many positive reviews about its scenery. That
day, however, it was hot, I was worried about starting college soon, and all I wanted was to sleep
comfortably without a Chinese tourist behind me complaining about the American government. Great,
I thought sarcastically to myself, what a fun trip. When we reached Yosemite, however, my attitude
completely changed. Although I was still with the group of loud tourists, I was able to mentally escape
from them and my worries for the short duration in Yosemite. The immense cliffs, everlasting
sequoias, beautiful waterfalls, and abundant wildlife were mesmerizing and for the first time in a
while, I felt humble and small, as if I were just a tiny ant in an incredibly huge world. We, as humans,
often forget our relationship with Mother Nature, but this trip to Yosemite had reminded me of this

Texas Constitution Vs. U.s. Constitution Essay
As far as the Texas Constitution in comparison to the U.S. Constitution, they are much different. There
has always been much talk about how the Texas Constitution is very long and poorly put together. I
believe Texas and the people in it have tried to keep Texas very traditional and old school as possible.
In my opinion, they have continued to add things to the Constitution to keep away from progressivism
and to not allow the U.S. government to dictate what they will and will not do. There is always
positive and negative that comes with going against the majority. I have lived here all my life and
never really knew the difference between our state and others until recently. Native Texans do believe
that Texas is bigger and better than any other state and with that the elite politicians try to make sure
every other state knows it by continuing to keep a republican office in Texas. As far as the Supreme
Court goes they have also found ways to be as different as possible. In catching up on my Texas
Judicial Branch I found, Texas Constitution establishes two high courts, one to hear civil cases and
one to adjudicate criminal cases (Two Constitutions: A Comparison). The civil jurisdiction is called
the Supreme Court, where there are nine justices. The criminal cases go to the Court of Criminal
Appeals where there are nine judges. In my opinion I would not change the way that the judicial
system is set up. I believe the Supreme Court should not be used for civil cases unless

El Nino has been known to wreak havoc al around the world, from Australia to Africa to the United

the late 19th century this gradually changed to a strong pulse of about three years by the early 20th

The Environmental Hazards Of The United States
A common sight to a visitor on a beach in the U.S. is garbage that has been pitched by another person
or washed up on the beach, after it has been carelessly thrown away. All the carelessly disposed of
trash eventually accumulates, rather it be in one place, such as a landfill, or in many places just
dispersed and spread out, like litter. In 1997, Captain Charles Moore came across a large trash deposit,
while sailing in his boat, Alguita, in the pacific. What he encountered that day could only be described
as a floating continent of trash, which today has names such as trash vortex , plastic soup , and Eastern
Garbage Patch (Friedman 7 10). The mass of trash is still present today and is calculated to be twice
the size of the U.S., weighing in at around 100 million tons of trash (Friedman 7). This garbage patch
is one of the leading growing environmental hazards of the world today. The trash has been linked to
cancer, caused by the toxins released in the water from the plastics, the killing of seabirds, and the
killing of more than a 100,000 marine mammals each year (Friedman 9). This is one of the negative
effects human trash is having on the planet and how people are now turning to recycling to help
resolve problems similar to this. Today people in the U.S. alone produce 245 million tons of trash a
year, which helps contribute to problems like the trash vortex (Lazarus 13). Recycling would help cut
this trash flow significantly, while having other positive effects, if

saw earlier represented by regularly reoccurring fluctuations in the levels of data in accordance with
the calendar seasons. To do this we will use an autocorrelation function for the first differenced new

reoccurring fluctuations from one year to the next. When we look at the graph in Figure 3 we notice
great increases with lag 12 and lag 24. The jumps seen in lags 12 and 24 confirms the presense of
seasonality as they are above the upper limit representing statistical significance.

Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. Because without volunteers there can t be any games played or practices, and the kids won t get any better. Youth sports are important to the kids because it helps kids be able to work as a team better and work together with other kids, it helps them get better at the sport they re playing, and it teaches them discipline and dedication. And, the better the kids get from playing in youth sport organizations, the higher chance they will have to maybe play in High School, College, and maybe even the pros. Making youth sports available early on can set people up to possibly play that sport for the rest of their life. Volunteers do a lot just so the kids can have a good time and learn more skills about a sport. Most pf the people that are involved with a sports organization do it for free and for the kids, if there wasn t volunteers, there s no sports. For example, they organize schedules for the games/practices, they run the scoreboard/score book, they run the snack bar, make food to sell at the snack bar, find places for the kids to practice and play in, they order uniforms, and they coordinate fundraising. If Earth history is compared to a calendar year, human life has existed for 23 minutes and we have used one third of Earth s resources in the last 0.2 seconds. 45 years ago, in 2017. Denmark research team estimated that by 2025, the world population would be over 8 billion people, around 2040 it could hit 9 billion and by 2070 it could reach a massive 10 billion people. It said that 10 billion is the magic number the earth can handle without being too crowded. Today in 2067, the population is around 11 billion, our planet is facing overpopulation problem. More people means more resources, competitions, chaos and decrease in security and safety, which pose a real challenge in the years to come. This fact alone is sufficient to urge humans to try to find solutions. Today, the majority of people argues that security and safety could improve by population control. Overpopulation acts as a new force that threatens and destroys peace. Population pressure has been a source of human conflict over resources for thousands of years. More people means more competition, such as for jobs, housings, wealth, education and so on. This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code Administration) (Rocchi). The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13 movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of kids aged 0 13. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief system really helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and discrimination? With so many people involved or affiliated with religion it is important to explore deeper into the negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better place with information that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of accounting for a lack of knowledge and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering a sense of belonging. • 26. Punishment And Punishment Summary Introduction In the book Discipline and Punish, Foucault illustrates the history of the modern penal system, while at the same time seeking to analyze punishment as a social aspect. Also, the book covers the effects of power dynamics on the penalty. The book begins with an analysis of the historical situations before the 18th Century when the primary forms of punishment administration were public execution and corporal punishment. Investigations regarding criminal offenses were mainly carried out through torture (Crisp, 2003). The penalties were ceremonial and directed towards the body of the prisoner; the audience was necessary during the ritual. The public executions were considered to the kingdom as they established the authority and power of the king. During the 18th Century, there were many agitations for reforms on punishments. The reformists got the motivations from the need for the considerations of the prisoner s welfare. Foucault and other people thought that the system was not taking care of the well being, and hence there was a need to make operations of power more efficient. The agitations led to the proposal of a theater of punishment where a complex system of representations was publicly displayed. The sentences were related to the crimes and hence discouraged people from lawbreaking. An Overview of Foucault s Approaches Foucault s approaches to punishment followed three significant ideas including the spectacle of the scaffold; generalized punishment; and panopticism. The following is an overview of the three ideologies. The spectacle of scaffold Despite the fact that the French penal ordinance set out very harsh penalties against punishment, there was still a gap between theory and the punitive practice (Foucault, The spectacle of the scaffold, 2008). The exercise of torture and public execution were no longer frequently administered as forms of punishment. However, use of torture as a considerable part of penalty still existed. In this perspective, torture refers to an exact measurable amount of pain through the investment of the economy of power. The use of torture was meant to be a tool for revealing the truth, which would be determined at different degrees. The investigation process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

United States, the Supreme Court did not see that as unreasonable search . In the 1928, case of Olmstead v. United States the issue of whether of wiretapping constituted a search for purpose of the Fourth Amendment was interpreted. Olmstead was convicted of conspiring to violate the National Prohibition Act based on evidence obtained by tapping his telephone line from a junction box located on the public street (Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to the text, The Court, nevertheless, rejected Olmstead s claim that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. A search, the Court declared, requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a seizure, the taking of tangible things. Olmstead s Fourth Amendment rights were not violated by the interception of his telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his property or took anything tangible; his telephone conversations were acquired through their sense of hearing only ( Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to Katz, physical intrusion is not necessary to fall within the meaning of a search because what a person seeks to preserve as private, even in an area accessible to the public should remain private and the person has a right to expect privacy, hence the Fourth Amendment right should apply. For instance, Katz usage of telephone booth provided the environment that allowed him to carry the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Jesus Christ Superstar Analysis I think the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar gained much attention because it appealed to youth, but appalled the older generation because of its rock theme and interpretations. After all, some believed the theme went against the grain of the church (Bible) and how people viewed it. The brilliance in this opera was to tell the story of Jesus Christ using rock music to tell the complete story of Jesus Christ from beginning to end by providing a synopsis of the story as was told in the Bible. There are a ton of excerpts from this opera that related to events happening in the 70s. The three themes that I chose are fame, revolution and radicalism, and humility Fame Jesus Christ was the ultimate Superstar! It only took him three years to amass thousands of followers. In Act 1 Simon Zealotes makes reference about the crowds of people who seek his attention. Christ you know I love you. Did you see I waved? Touch me, touch me, Jesus. Kiss me kiss me, Jesus. As you can imagine, as his glamour increased among the people, it would eventually lead to social upheaval with both the Romans and the Jews. He was seen as both a savior by the people and trouble to authoritarians. The scene relates to the 70s in terms of having that rock star image with pop culture. Jesus popularity with people and how they responded to him was like the 60s and 70s where teens idolized Elvis and the Beetles. • 31. Speech On Yosemite National Park Good morning! Today we will be going to Yosemite National Park. I hope you are prepared... Eddie, the tourist guide, announced a little too enthusiastically for an early morning after my family and I entered the bus. Taking a seat by the window, I tried drowning him out with my music, and then proceeded to sigh when I could still clearly hear him through my headphones. I was annoyed, but not because I did want to go to Yosemite; I just did not want spend time with the group of loud and obnoxious tourists on the bus. When my family and I first agreed to go on a tour of Yosemite, I was excited because I had never been there and I had heard many positive reviews about its scenery. That day, however, it was hot, I was worried about starting college soon, and all I wanted was to sleep comfortably without a Chinese tourist behind me complaining about the American government. Great, I thought sarcastically to myself, what a fun trip. When we reached Yosemite, however, my attitude completely changed. Although I was still with the group of loud tourists, I was able to mentally escape from them and my worries for the short duration in Yosemite. The immense cliffs, everlasting sequoias, beautiful waterfalls, and abundant wildlife were mesmerizing and for the first time in a while, I felt humble and small, as if I were just a tiny ant in an incredibly huge world. We, as humans, often forget our relationship with Mother Nature, but this trip to Yosemite had reminded me of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Texas Constitution Vs. U.s. Constitution Essay As far as the Texas Constitution in comparison to the U.S. Constitution, they are much different. There has always been much talk about how the Texas Constitution is very long and poorly put together. I believe Texas and the people in it have tried to keep Texas very traditional and old school as possible. In my opinion, they have continued to add things to the Constitution to keep away from progressivism and to not allow the U.S. government to dictate what they will and will not do. There is always positive and negative that comes with going against the majority. I have lived here all my life and never really knew the difference between our state and others until recently. Native Texans do believe that Texas is bigger and better than any other state and with that the elite politicians try to make sure every other state knows it by continuing to keep a republican office in Texas. As far as the Supreme Court goes they have also found ways to be as different as possible. In catching up on my Texas Judicial Branch I found, Texas Constitution establishes two high courts, one to hear civil cases and one to adjudicate criminal cases (Two Constitutions: A Comparison). The civil jurisdiction is called the Supreme Court, where there are nine justices. The criminal cases go to the Court of Criminal Appeals where there are nine judges. In my opinion I would not change the way that the judicial system is set up. I believe the Supreme Court should not be used for civil cases unless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meteorologists discovered in the late 19th century that El Nino weather events appeared to be occurring approximately every ten to fifteen years but in the late 19th century this gradually changed to a strong pulse of about three years by the early 20th century, at the same time it had been noted that the temperature was rising above the average. In a speech he made he said that El Nino events were becoming more common and the gradual increase in global warming was creating a build up of pollutant gases in the atmosphere making it harder for the air wasn t able to circulate as easily so the winds were forced by the increased air pressure to take an alternate route. The Environmental Hazards Of The United States A common sight to a visitor on a beach in the U.S. is garbage that has been pitched by another person or washed up on the beach, after it has been carelessly thrown away. All the carelessly disposed of trash eventually accumulates, rather it be in one place, such as a landfill, or in many places just dispersed and spread out, like litter. In 1997, Captain Charles Moore came across a large trash deposit, while sailing in his boat, Alguita, in the pacific. What he encountered that day could only be described as a floating continent of trash, which today has names such as trash vortex , plastic soup , and Eastern Garbage Patch (Friedman 7 10). The mass of trash is still present today and is calculated to be twice the size of the U.S., weighing in at around 100 million tons of trash (Friedman 7). This garbage patch is one of the leading growing environmental hazards of the world today. The trash has been linked to cancer, caused by the toxins released in the water from the plastics, the killing of seabirds, and the killing of more than a 100,000 marine mammals each year (Friedman 9). This is one of the negative effects human trash is having on the planet and how people are now turning to recycling to help resolve problems similar to this. Today people in the U.S. alone produce 245 million tons of trash a year, which helps contribute to problems like the trash vortex (Lazarus 13).
