Shrek Symbolic Interactionism Essay
The movie, Shrek, displays several examples of symbolic interactionism through fictional creatures.
The symbolic interactions in this movie explain the relationships between ogres and society, ogres and
fairytale creatures, and fairytale creatures and society, as odd as they may be in the fictional world.
The founders of symbolic interactionism, Charles Horton Cooley and George Herbert Mead, defined
this perspective as symbols things to which we attach meaning are the keys to understanding how we
view the world and communicate with one another. Shrek s first relationship was with society. In this
relationship, Shrek was the monster, ugly, evil, dangerous, and different creature, while society, the
city of Duloc, was perfect. What all people in Duloc were raised to believe ... Show more content on

He didn t want to see any people, afraid of being treated badly, resulting in him wanting to be alone
forever. When people did come to his swamp, Shrek acted the way they all expected him to, even
though that wasn t who he truly was. However, they tormented him enough with their torches and
pitchforks that he had every reason to act like the monster they all saw him as. Shrek s second major
relationship came with a talking donkey, named Donkey. Shrek had frightened away the people after
Donkey, saving his life. Donkey realized he had just found the perfect friend, someone who is
unaccepted like him, but could also stand up to society. Although Shrek had explained to Donkey that
he preferred to be alone, saying they judge me before they even know me, that s why I m better off
alone. Donkey was the first creature to ever accept Shrek for who he is, not just assume he was a
monster. Shrek agreed to let Donkey stay for a while, bringing Shrek to his next important
relationship, Princess Fiona. Shrek was ordered by Lord Farquaad to rescue Princess Fiona for him.

Gary Gager
There once was a scientist named Gary Gee Gager. He was the best in his department. He studied and
changed the way animals evolve and grow and how to change them. In his lab he had two test bunnies

Democratic And Republican Parties Essay
Democratic and Republican Parties The United States has been a democratic republic for more than
220 years. Throughout these years, the country has gone through a lot of political changes. Many wars
have been fought and inhumane practices have been abolished. Women have fought for their right to
vote and minorities have fought for their right to be equal. The ability for citizens to make these
changes is what makes our republic so great. However, for every person that has a certain political
view, there are just as many that have the opposite. This has led to the Unites States having mainly a
two party system, the parties being the Democratic and Republican Party. Our country is divided both

Criminal Activities of the Roaring Twenties
Criminal activities of the Roaring Twenties The Roaring Twenties were aptly named: they were indeed
roaring with music and dance, but also with gangsters and criminals. The Great Depression having
affected everybody, all were in need of money and ready to do whatever it took to get some. This is
why the Roaring Twenties were a decade of bootlegging, bank robbing, and corruption. The first
important criminal industry of the 1920 s was bootlegging. Bootlegging consisted in illegally
supplying or producing liquor. When the prohibition was enforced during the winter of 1920, its
original goal was to lower crime and corruption, reduce social problems, lower taxes needed to
support prisons and poorhouses, and improve health and hygiene in ... Show more content on

No club played better in 1919, but few were paid so poorly. Many knowledgeable observers believe
that it was [White Sox president Charles] Comiskey s stinginess that is largely to blame for the Black
Sox scandal: if Comiskey had not grossly underpaid his players and treated them so unfairly, they
would never have agreed to throw the Series (www.chicagohs.org).
Another scandal that took place in those years was the Teapot Dome scandal in 1922, which was when
the Secretary of Interior, Albert B. Fall, leased federal oil reserves to business associates that were
bribing him. After President Harding had transferred supervision of the naval oil reserve lands from
the navy to the Department of the Interior in 1921, Fall secretly granted to Henry F. Sinclair of the
Mammoth Oil Company exclusive rights to the Teapot Dome reserves. He granted similar rights to
Edward L. Doheny. [...] In return for the leases, Fall received large cash gifts and no interest loans
(www.britannica.com).
The Teapot Dome scandal was one of many that took place while Harding was president. It seemed
that quite a number of his allies were exploiting their power and position for personal gain. For
example, Thomas W. Miller, head of the Office of Alien Property, was put on trial, and convicted of
accepting bribes (http://en.wikipedia.org). In addition, Harding s Attorney General Harry M.
Daugherty resigned in 1924 when he was accused of

Capitalism And Free Market Capitalism
For this assignment we are asked to explain free market capitalism. First of all, capitalism has its own
meaning while free market does too. Capitalism defines as an economic system based on ownership of
factors of produce (Nickolas, 2017). The primary tactics of capitalism is when the owners compete
with one another along with motivates a general profit by its private owner without any outside
companies interference of outside sale forces (Nickolas, 2017).
Free market plays a role by producing and pricing the products/services. Basically, this is what free
market is all about! Free market is an economic system that you use strictly for supply and demand
with or without the small aspects of government regulations. In this process, generally the buyer and
the seller makes deals freely and only when coming to an agreement on the price of a product and or
service.
Capitalism is the center of interest to create wealth. Also, too, fabricate gains ownerships of capital
and factors of producing versus to free market. Free Market also focuses on wealth, products, and
services. One requirement of capitalism is that it requires a free market economic system to bring in
success. If a free market follow and adhere to all regulations it can potentially become one of the most
unique agents of collective human progress.
The United States has fully lived up to John Kenneth Galbraith s observation half a century ago that
modern U.S. capitalism generates private wealth and public squalor (Foster et al., 2017).Capitalism
has served us enormously well. Yet while it has helped to reduce global poverty and expand access to
health care and education, it has come at an enormous cost: unsustainable levels of public and private
debt, excessive consumerism, and, frankly, too many people who are left behind. Any system that
prevents large numbers of people from fully participating or excludes them altogether will ultimately
be rejected. And that s what you see happening. People are asking, What are we doing here?
(McKinsey Company, 2017).
Creative Capitalism is a systematic approach to government businesses (Nickolas, 2017). In which, it
is a nonprofit organization that works as a team to broaden market shifts. In this

Causes And Failures Of Hurricane Katrina
Katrina Failures
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, multiple failures exposed communication breakdowns, roles and
responsibilities. Civil unrest followed after local law enforcement, abandoned their legal duties.
Historically, the Posse Comitatus Act created barriers. These barriers slowed down the response of
federal support. The President and governor struggled over control of the National Guard. The city of
New Orleans suffered economically and through loss of life. With the pullout of the police, they fell
into a different category that called for implantation of martial law using an outside policing force.
The actions of Governor Blanco are ill prepared at most. Post Katrina in Louisiana was painfully
obvious as the total failure of state and federal government s anger looms towards the revision of an
outdated law.
Actions
The Posse Comitatus Act says that Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly
authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force

Frederic Chopin Essay
Frederic Chopin Frederic Chopin, the Polish composer and pianist, was born on March 1,1810,
according to the statements of the artist himself and his family, but according to his baptismal
certificate, which was written several weeks after his birth, the date was 22 February. His birthplace
was the village of Zelazowa Wola, part of the Duchy of Warsaw. The musical talent of Frederic
became apparent extremely early on, and it was compared with the childhood genius of Mozart.
Already at the age of 7, Frederic was the author of two polonaises, the first being published in the
engraving workshop of Father Cybulski. The prodigy was featured in the Warsaw newspapers, and

When composing his first mazurkas in 1825, as well as the later ones, he resorted to this source of
inspiration that he kept in mind until the very end of his life. Chopin soon began studying the theory
of music, figured bass and composition at the Warsaw High School of Music, which was both part of
the Conservatory and, at the same time, connected with Warsaw University. Its head was the composer
Józef Elsner. Chopin, however, did not attend the piano class. Aware of the exceptional nature of
Chopin s talent, Elsner allowed him, in accordance with his personality and temperament, to
concentrate on piano music but was unbending as regards theoretical subjects, in particular
counterpoint. Chopin, endowed by nature with magnificent melodic invention, ease of free
improvisation and an inclination towards brilliant effects and perfect harmony, gained in Elsner s
school a solid grounding, discipline, and precision of construction, as well as an understanding of the
meaning and logic of each note. During this period of time, Frederic composed a series of extended
works, and after the third year of his studies Elsner wrote in a report: Chopin, Frederic, third year
student, amazing talent, musical genius . After completing his studies, Chopin planned a longer stay
abroad to become acquainted with the musical life of Europe and to win fame. Up to then, he had
never left Poland, with the exception of two brief stays in Prussia. In July 1829 he made a short

Positive And Negative Aspects Of The Lgbt Community
The LGBT community, a small, often marginalized group, has few sources of influence to their
direction and path. It is common in our 21st century society for those discovering themselves to mimic
and embody the characteristics with which they observe. When children grow up, they look up to the
diverse group of individuals and ideas surrounding them. As a person explores their formative years
they seek out groups with which they have something in common. They are drawn to the lifestyles
with which they identify most. It is in this association that many traits and behaviors from these
groups start be emulated. Taking this relatively simple concept, I will apply this to theatre and infer
whether there are any positive or negative effects pertaining to gay themes found on stage.
Further elaborating on the connection between formative years of discovering one s self, we will find
that our society has a desire to place designators and identifiers on people. This acts as a quick and
easy way to categorize an individual and assess a slew of presumed things in categories ranging from
economic status, religious affiliation, sex, criminality, intelligence, physical capabilities, social
standing to many more. Regardless of the reasons for boxing people into a specific category, the
dominant signifiers seem to greatly influence the trajectory of one s identifiable categories. When
humans are forming their self identity they tend to place themselves in a box that society has deemed

Sn1 Sn2 Reactions
Experiment 15 amp; 16: Preparation of 1 bromobutane, an SN2 reaction Preparation of 2 chloro 2
methylbutane, an SN1 reaction Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to synthesize 1
bromobutane from 1 butanol and sodium bromide. In order for this reaction to reach completion there
are four major operations that need to be performed. The four major operations include refluxing,
simple distillation, separation, and drying. To begin, in order for the compounds to react they will be
dissolved in water and sulfuric acid will be added. The addition of sulfuric acid will then generate
hydrobromic acid, an important product in the reaction mixture. The hydrobromic acid will react with
the 1 butanol when heat is added to the flask ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point the flask was attached to a refluxing apparatus. This process of refluxing helps to purify
the mixture and keep the reaction at a constant temperature. Also, before the reaction mixture began to
boil the separation of a clear top layer and a cloudy bottom layer helped to indicate that the reaction
was working properly. The top layer was the alkyl bromide since the other components of the aqueous
layer have the greater density. After the 45 minute refluxing process was complete, the apparatus was
set up for simple distillation apparatus distillation commenced. Distillation took place until no more
drops of product were dripping from the distillation head. The first drop of distillate occurred when
the thermometer read 75°C, the actual temperature was probably a bit higher since the vapors might
not have fully reached the bulb of the thermometer. The final drop of distillate was collected at about
115°C. Once the distillate was collected, it was placed in a seperatory funnel and the reaction flask
was rinsed with 10 mL of water and added to the seperatory funnel. Rinsing the funnel ensured that all
of the distillate from the distillation process was removed from the reaction flask and no product was
left on the walls of the flask. After the water was added, two layers formed in the funnel. The top layer
was the water and the bottom layer was the 1 bromobutane since the density of 1 bromobutane is
higher than that of water.

Monterey Bay Experience Essay
In order to gain more knowledge and a better understanding of postcolonial discourses within the
context of the Monterey Bay area I conducted my field research at the Carmel mission. I decided to do
my field research relating to the carmel mission because I am interested in the psychological effects
Native Americans experienced during the creation of the missions and how the missionaries affected
them. In addition, other reasons why I chose this postcolonial issue is because I wanted to gain more
knowledge on the missions, since I was given a very vague historical description in primary school.
Lastly, I was curious in this topic because I wanted to engage in multiple perspectives and to hear
what individuals really knew about the mission. Moreover, the Carmel mission was founded in June of
1770 by Saint Junipero Serra. The mission was primarily built to convert natives, establish territory,
and create stopping points along California. Native american tribes such as the Esselen and other

practices. In addition native culture, language, and spiritual practices were often forbidden under the
mission system. In an attempt to free themselves from this form of oppression and unhealthy lifestyle
some indians ran away. Unfortunately, running away from the mission was not enough. The

Summary Of The Lunch Rush
The lunch rush is nearly over and Ruby managed to notice between the noise and calls for refills that
her favorite customer hadn t come in. In fact she was really more than her favorite customer but she
wasn t quite sure what they were yet. There weekly movie nights sitting on opposite sides of a couch
had evolved over the last few months into a nightly occurrence and often found them snuggled next to
each other waking up the next morning in the same position. The last few movie nights though had
involved a little bit of kissing, which Ruby did not mind in the least but she really wasn t sure what it
all meant.
With the last of the lunch checks closed out, Ruby called out to Granny a little too joyfully, I m going
to take a break and run some lunch over to the library, I ll be back before the dinner rush.
Ruby walked out the door two sacks of food and a tray of drinks before Granny could even reply.
Which is probably for the best because otherwise she would have heard Granny s pleased sarcastic
reply of No I won t!
An extra bounce in her step, Ruby clears her way across to the library before she even realizes she s
there. Juggling the bags and drinks Ruby is able to pop the door open a crack. Before it shuts again
Ruby slides her foot in the door gently pushing it open the rest of the way.

Weight Watchers Vs Point Based Diets
Food is one of human beings beloved obsessions. We have an infinite infatuation with food and we
spend a great deal of time preoccupied with ways to satisfy this innate need. Food takes center stage
when we organize a fun day out with our families, plan a romantic night, look for an all inclusive
vacation package, or simply seek means to relief the stress of everyday life. However, if we
overindulge, this affection can turn into a haunting nightmare, capable of shaking our sense of self
worth and confidence. Weight loss diet promise to restore that self assurance and restore that sense of
normalcy that we may have lost. But here comes the challenge of choosing one from the countless

These diets do not try to eliminate essential nutrients from the diet or limit food that one loves from
the diet, but rather assign point values to food. Weight Watchers or Deal a Meal are some of diets that
are being advertised, however, there are a lot more. No food is off the menu when you subscribe to
this plan and you could still enjoy and eat what you love and crave. However, Weight Watchers
assigns different food a Smart Point value. Food that are nutrient dense but relatively low calories
such as complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats are assigned low values. This means you
could consume large quantities from this group without impacting your weight. Food that contain
empty calorie, on the other hand, like highly processed carbohydrates, saturated fats, and added sugar
stuff are assigned a higher value. One can only eat very small portions from this group to stay on
target. The system is fairly easy to follow: you set the target goal, eat your favorite food from a list of
stuff as long as you stay within your daily target, and shed those extra pounds of weight that you
desire to lose. They, however, require more discipline to follow and may be costlier than some of the
other diets that are out there. Food that is rich in empty calories, like pasta, pastries, sweetened drinks,
cookies, pies and cobblers, and other highly processed food is a lot cheaper to buy than food that is
dense in nutrients, like vegetables, fruits, lean meat and

Customer Information Whenever a customer gives you personal or classified information to complete
an application, transaction, or another request, you owe them protection and privacy. If data you have

the distinguished biggest mistakes small businesses make is using a shared server to keep their files in.
It makes sense why shared servers are chosen, they re cheap and very acceptable, but when you look
at the future consequences, it becomes clear that the upfront savings aren t worth the long term risks.
Even if you need to cut costs in other areas to make it happen, it s critically important that you switch
your business over to a dedicated server. When you use a dedicated server, you no longer must run
your websites, programs, and scripts on the same machine as other companies and individuals. This
means you instantly increase your security and don t have to deal with the risk of being hacked by an
outside party within your own server. Few things are as important as data encryption in today s cyber
security field. While it s best to prevent hackers from gaining access to your systems in the first place,
encryption technology essentially renders your data useless, should it wind up in the wrong hands. Be
sure to set up a regular schedule to update your data encryption so that you re always using the most

In the Skin of a Lion Anaylsis Essay
Discuss the ways in which textual forms and features shape your understanding of In the Skin of a
Lion.
Michael Ondaatje s postmodern exploration of the early, developmental years of Canada, In the Skin
of a Lion, is expressed through multiple perspectives, with no dominant perspective or omniscient
narrator. The narrative is presented as fragmented and contains interruptions from intersecting
perspectives. The presence of class conflict forces the characters to experience extreme adversity, with
their contributions to building the society going unnoticed until Ondaatje has addressed their social
exclusion. Through reinterpretations of motifs and symbols, Ondaatje adds new dimensions to events
in history and characterizations, whilst the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst Harris perceives it as symbol of life and creation, water ironically takes the lives of the workers
in the Waterworks with the water heaving in, shouldering them aside in a fast death if they dig just one
degree up. The harsh and tedious conditions of the work, pissing where they work, eating where
someone else left there shit , dehumanizes the workers, insulting their inherent dignity and contrasting
the imagery of opulent structure they are building. Harris notes the Egyptian feel of the palace,
equating his works to that of the pyramids which coincidentally draws a link to the cruel treatment of
the workers and how bodies have similarly been entombed in the structure during construction.
Ondaatje, however, recognizes their contribution in revealing glimpses of certain characters; the
voiceless and marginalized become recognizable as the novel progresses
Ondaatje presents Patrick Lewis as character amongst the lower class to demonstrate the fluidity of
identity, through the journey he undertakes, which allows him to emerge from passivity. Patrick s
quest to gain enlightenment is reflected in the prologue, as he drives through the unbetrayed
countryside, introducing implications of hope and maturation whilst isolation and alienation is
indicated through the prevailing image of darkness. This sense of isolation is further expressed
through Patrick s childhood. Ondaatje addressed the roots of his abashed

John Cooper s The Last Of The Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans begins three years into the French and Indian War. The French allied with
Native Americans conspire to seize Fort William Henry, the plans are cut off by a Native scout named
Magua. Magua presents the plans to British General Webb, who counters by sending troops to
reinforce Colonel Munro at Fort William Henry. After the troops leave, Munro s daughters, Alice and
Cora demand to be escorted to see their father. General Webb sends the daughters with Major
Heyward, as they leave, they run into a stranger. The stranger happens to be Magua, who decides to
lead the group Fort William Henry. Awhile later the group meets a second stranger whose name is
David Gamut a psalmodist who seems very out of place forest. Gamut explains he is lost and would

Many immigrants were white and looked at Native American lifestyle as weird and different. This
helped fuel racism against the Natives. However, some people were tolerant and befriended the
natives and believed they were just as equal and welcomed to lands as the white. Cooper explores the
idea of a white man and native man becoming friends by introducing Hawkeye the white hunter and
his Native American companion Chingachgook. Cooper then goes a little deeper by setting up the
attraction between Uncas and Cora and by uncovering Colonel Munro s first wife who was of African
descent. Cooper seems to be trying to show that a person could have a healthy and happy relationship
with a Native American or any type of race. By the end of the story, it seems as though Cooper
believes that the beliefs at the time were wrong and that they should be

Differences Between Haydn And Mozart
In the late eighteenth century, most musicians made money from performing in churches, courts and
even cites. They also did compositions and teaching on commission. As attaining fame with the public
became a chief concern, the musician s composed materials that pleased everyone from aficionados to
the ones with little experience. During this era, two music specialists were known for reaching a
diverse audience with their excellent compositions that have come to epitomise the classic period. No
one did it better that Haydn and Mozart. Their music was outstanding; they created music that was
immediate with a profound and enduring appeal. Though their music was exceptional, they illustrated
differences in which specialised musicians work. (Nettl, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is contrary to what Mozart was working on at this time. By choosing this kind of key, Mozart
illustrates a kind of deliberate conveyance of something diverse, emotional and moodier than past
concertos. According to Alfred Einstein; a German American musicologist, he describes the
importance of different key signatures for Mozart. He says if G minor was the fatalistic key for
Mozart, then C minor was the dramatic one. The core differentiates the aggressive harmonies and
lyrical passages. He adds that the lyrical quality is usually outburst by the gloomy emotions. After
Mozart had established this furious and tempestuous mood through the use of this signature key, the
form of the piece remains to engender this unique departure from the previous piano concertos by
Mozart (Alfred Einstein, 1962) Typically, Mozart concertos start with dialogue like an interface
between the instrumentalist and also the orchestra; this can be not a similar with K491 wherever the
instrumentalist newer plays the initial four notes of the musical organisation introduction. The
exclusion of this dialogue at the start makes a lot of aggressive, foreboding sound. The previous
concertos did a back and forth sharing of themes at the beginning of the track. (Eva and Paul,

Personal Reflective Statement
You all must be asking yourselves the following: What does Kevin s eligibility for Special Education
Services have to do with his cultural identity? Specifically how growing up in a Latino household
helped him construct his educational philosophies. Think about it: Today, I would not be determined to
become the great, successful, caring, loving, firm, and knowledgeable teacher that I am destined to
become if it were not for my academic struggles that occurred early on in my educational career. In
fact, I find it pivotal for current and future teachers to realize and understand that his or her life and
educational experiences are valuable and meaningful, especially since it can be used to make a
difference in the lives of his or her students the future of this great diverse nation. Today, I am certain
that my calling is to transform my negative educational experiences, specifically my primary school
years experiences into positive and life changing teachable moments in my future elementary
classroom.
Furthermore, recently, I have decided to read and analyze my eighth grade year psychological
assessment report, mainly because I like to learn more about myself, especially as a learner. According
to the report, which was completed on January 20, 2010, my overall cognitive ability falls in the
borderline range of functioning, scores fall between 71 and 81. A borderline range categorization
(typically an IQ of 70 85) indicates that a person has below average cognitive ability but

Dworkin Paternalism
How does Dworkin define paternalism, and when does he think it is justified?
In addressing the principle of paternalism, Dworkin notes that there may be more cases in which it
should be justified than what Mill stated. First Dworkin defines paternalism as the interference with a
person s liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good, happiness,
needs, interests or values of the person being coerced , although he later notes that in some cases,
paternalism may also extend to interferences with the liberty of parties whose interests are not in
question . He gives various examples of paternalistic laws and restrictions, such as the laws requiring
motorcyclists to wear safety helmets, regulating the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but
claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better
why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better fulfill
their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that they need
exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious exemptions as they are
advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so to exempt certain
categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and equality. In addition,
most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For example, in many countries,
including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s
face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions allowing the wearing of burkas
would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it enables fugitives to hide easily amongst
many other things.
If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they should
not be prohibited by the law at all. Bou Habib s argument makes sense, but I maintain that religious
exemptions would have negative consequences as it would leads to

Psychology And The Legal System. Paper 1. With Recent...
Psychology and the Legal System
Paper 1 With recent legislative issues making the news, one topic that has received a great deal of
attention is that of indeterminate sentencing. This is the imposition of a sentence with no mandatory
release date or set period of sentence to be served. Instead, one s sentence length is determined by the
inmate s conduct while in prison. Upon successful completion of requirements the inmate may be
returned to society, but it is possible that they will be kept behind bars for the remainder of his/her
natural life. There are many issues that have come to light with indeterminate and determinate
sentencing, such as how successful was the inmate? Is there really rehabilitation for sex offenders or
drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with indeterminate sentencing is that it often puts too much power into the hands of the
parole board which then can lead to arbitrary and discriminatory results. It has been seen that
minorities and prisoners without connections receive overly harsh decisions of the parole boards while
less deserving offenders are being released early.(Portman, 2017) Even with some of the issues at
hand indeterminate sentencing is making a comeback. This is now happening even more as our
prisons are becoming overcrowded. In turn, allowing more room for judicial or parole board
discretion. Prosecutors are exercising discretion when they decide which of many arrests to charge and
for what particular crime. Juries exercise discretion in not convicting defendants who killed under
circumstances that may have justified their actions. A jury may opt to exercise discretion when it
deliberates the fate of the alleged perpetrator. Parole boards also have the opportunity to excise
discretion when they decide whether to commute a death sentence to life imprisonment.(Greene, E.,
Heilbrun, K. 2014 pg. 10 11) This is being seen in many states where rehabilitation is available and
viewed as a reasonable attainable outcome for offenders. Determinate sentencing began to spread
widely during the 1970s and 1980s and is now the rule in many states. (Portman, 2017) In the late
1970s, a rising crime rate, concern over individual rights, and a distrust of the government in the wake

Analysis Of Dell s Marketing Strategy
During the early 1990s, computer industry developed rapidly. With the entrance of Dell, the dynamic
structure in the industry changed. Between 1994 and 1998, Dell s growth was twice as fast as its major
rivals (IBM, Compaq, Gateway, and Hewlett Packard). Dell provides high performance PCs at low
prices. Its competitive advantage is mainly established by the innovation of the Direct Model and
other firm level strategies that enable Dell to utilize its resources and build up its capabilities more
efficiently.
1. Industry Analysis through Porter s Five Forces
New Entrants: Moderate. The capital investment requirements are high. Large players derived
extensive benefits from the economies of scale. Product differentiation in terms of product itself is
low, as hardware and software used are almost universal. Product differentiation in terms of brand is
high due to the firm s marketing efforts. Incumbents have more established and recognized brands. As
new players enter, existing players are likely to retaliate. The industry links closely with the supplier,
and require efficient distribution channel, hence the requirement in access to channels is high. Large
firms are tend to have better connection to various channels.
Substitute: Relatively low. In the computer industry, the existence of close substitutes is very low.
There is no alternate product that can do the same job as computer do. Although alternative choices
like smart phone and ipad provide part of the service

My First Trip To Football
CARLISLE 28 EATON 20 USED ROSTERS FROM HUDL.COM
Last night my travels took me to Carlisle, Ohio to watch the hometown Indians host the Eaton Eagles.
This was my first trip to Carlisle and it would mark the first time since the 2015 season, that I have
watched the Indians. I would be seeing the Eagles for the first time ever.
I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who were
there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive side of
things.
The Indians defense would set the tone early in this one, when Daniel Smith teamed up with teammate
Gage Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to
soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times.
Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going
about fifty six yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense,
who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The point after kick was
missed causing this to stay a 13 7 Eagles lead.
The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty four yard line and from there
Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the
buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14 13, with 5:31left in the half. On the
drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for the
Indians.
With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was
tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by
Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the Eagles fought
hard but never overcame this call.
Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not on
the Eagles roster)

Archetypes In King Arthur And Odysseus
Archetypes have persisted in literary works through the sands of time and continue to be applied in
today s literature. Throughout traditional and modern literature, the formulaic structure of myths and
the use of archetypes has been utilized in a consistent manner. Although many would argue that the
universal application of archetypes has been erratic and intermittent through time, the implementation
of the major hero and mentor archetypes within the tale of King Arthur and The Odyssey, and the
refined utilization of archetypes in modern literature, exhibit the universality of archetypes in different
cultures and time periods.
The hero archetype in both the tale of King Arthur and The Odyssey exemplifies its omnitude in
British and Greek culture respectively. Although each hero delineates his own culture s values during
different times, it is evident that both share similar qualities and traits pertaining to the hero archetype.
In Homer s The Odyssey, Odysseus is representative of the Greek values of rule through Gods and
Goddesses. In contrast, King Arthur represents British values of rule without the significant influence
of supernatural beings. Granted that each story contains nearly opposite values, the hero archetype is
still able to resonate in both characters. One of the main heroic aspects portrayed by each character is
their dynamic personalities. Both King Arthur and Odysseus are distinguished as vigorous, audacious,
and most importantly wise in each of their

Throughout these years, the country has gone through a lot of political changes. Many wars have been fought and inhumane practices have been abolished. • 9. Capitalism And Free Market Capitalism For this assignment we are asked to explain free market capitalism. First of all, capitalism has its own meaning while free market does too. Capitalism defines as an economic system based on ownership of factors of produce (Nickolas, 2017). The primary tactics of capitalism is when the owners compete with one another along with motivates a general profit by its private owner without any outside companies interference of outside sale forces (Nickolas, 2017). Free market plays a role by producing and pricing the products/services. Basically, this is what free market is all about! Free market is an economic system that you use strictly for supply and demand with or without the small aspects of government regulations. In this process, generally the buyer and the seller makes deals freely and only when coming to an agreement on the price of a product and or service. Capitalism is the center of interest to create wealth. Also, too, fabricate gains ownerships of capital and factors of producing versus to free market. Free Market also focuses on wealth, products, and services. One requirement of capitalism is that it requires a free market economic system to bring in success. If a free market follow and adhere to all regulations it can potentially become one of the most unique agents of collective human progress. The United States has fully lived up to John Kenneth Galbraith s observation half a century ago that modern U.S. capitalism generates private wealth and public squalor (Foster et al., 2017).Capitalism has served us enormously well. Yet while it has helped to reduce global poverty and expand access to health care and education, it has come at an enormous cost: unsustainable levels of public and private debt, excessive consumerism, and, frankly, too many people who are left behind. Any system that prevents large numbers of people from fully participating or excludes them altogether will ultimately be rejected. And that s what you see happening. People are asking, What are we doing here? (McKinsey Company, 2017). Creative Capitalism is a systematic approach to government businesses (Nickolas, 2017). In which, it is a nonprofit organization that works as a team to broaden market shifts. In this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is common in our 21st century society for those discovering themselves to mimic and embody the characteristics with which they observe. When children grow up, they look up to the diverse group of individuals and ideas surrounding them. As a person explores their formative years they seek out groups with which they have something in common. They are drawn to the lifestyles with which they identify most. It is in this association that many traits and behaviors from these groups start be emulated. Taking this relatively simple concept, I will apply this to theatre and infer whether there are any positive or negative effects pertaining to gay themes found on stage. Further elaborating on the connection between formative years of discovering one s self, we will find that our society has a desire to place designators and identifiers on people. This acts as a quick and easy way to categorize an individual and assess a slew of presumed things in categories ranging from economic status, religious affiliation, sex, criminality, intelligence, physical capabilities, social standing to many more. In order for this reaction to reach completion there are four major operations that need to be performed. The four major operations include refluxing, simple distillation, separation, and drying. To begin, in order for the compounds to react they will be dissolved in water and sulfuric acid will be added. The addition of sulfuric acid will then generate hydrobromic acid, an important product in the reaction mixture. The hydrobromic acid will react with the 1 butanol when heat is added to the flask ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point the flask was attached to a refluxing apparatus. This process of refluxing helps to purify the mixture and keep the reaction at a constant temperature. Also, before the reaction mixture began to boil the separation of a clear top layer and a cloudy bottom layer helped to indicate that the reaction was working properly. The top layer was the alkyl bromide since the other components of the aqueous layer have the greater density. After the 45 minute refluxing process was complete, the apparatus was set up for simple distillation apparatus distillation commenced. Distillation took place until no more drops of product were dripping from the distillation head. The first drop of distillate occurred when the thermometer read 75°C, the actual temperature was probably a bit higher since the vapors might not have fully reached the bulb of the thermometer. The final drop of distillate was collected at about 115°C. Once the distillate was collected, it was placed in a seperatory funnel and the reaction flask was rinsed with 10 mL of water and added to the seperatory funnel. Rinsing the funnel ensured that all of the distillate from the distillation process was removed from the reaction flask and no product was left on the walls of the flask. After the water was added, two layers formed in the funnel. The top layer was the water and the bottom layer was the 1 bromobutane since the density of 1 bromobutane is higher than that of water. ... The presence of class conflict forces the characters to experience extreme adversity, with their contributions to building the society going unnoticed until Ondaatje has addressed their social exclusion. Through reinterpretations of motifs and symbols, Ondaatje adds new dimensions to events in history and characterizations, whilst the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst Harris perceives it as symbol of life and creation, water ironically takes the lives of the workers in the Waterworks with the water heaving in, shouldering them aside in a fast death if they dig just one degree up. The harsh and tedious conditions of the work, pissing where they work, eating where someone else left there shit , dehumanizes the workers, insulting their inherent dignity and contrasting the imagery of opulent structure they are building. Harris notes the Egyptian feel of the palace, equating his works to that of the pyramids which coincidentally draws a link to the cruel treatment of the workers and how bodies have similarly been entombed in the structure during construction. Ondaatje, however, recognizes their contribution in revealing glimpses of certain characters; the voiceless and marginalized become recognizable as the novel progresses Ondaatje presents Patrick Lewis as character amongst the lower class to demonstrate the fluidity of identity, through the journey he undertakes, which allows him to emerge from passivity. Patrick s quest to gain enlightenment is reflected in the prologue, as he drives through the unbetrayed countryside, introducing implications of hope and maturation whilst isolation and alienation is indicated through the prevailing image of darkness. This sense of isolation is further expressed through Patrick s childhood. Ondaatje addressed the roots of his abashed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many immigrants were white and looked at Native American lifestyle as weird and different. This helped fuel racism against the Natives. However, some people were tolerant and befriended the natives and believed they were just as equal and welcomed to lands as the white. Cooper explores the idea of a white man and native man becoming friends by introducing Hawkeye the white hunter and his Native American companion Chingachgook. Cooper then goes a little deeper by setting up the attraction between Uncas and Cora and by uncovering Colonel Munro s first wife who was of African descent. Cooper seems to be trying to show that a person could have a healthy and happy relationship with a Native American or any type of race. They also did compositions and teaching on commission. As attaining fame with the public became a chief concern, the musician s composed materials that pleased everyone from aficionados to the ones with little experience. During this era, two music specialists were known for reaching a diverse audience with their excellent compositions that have come to epitomise the classic period. No one did it better that Haydn and Mozart. Their music was outstanding; they created music that was immediate with a profound and enduring appeal. Though their music was exceptional, they illustrated differences in which specialised musicians work. (Nettl, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is contrary to what Mozart was working on at this time. By choosing this kind of key, Mozart illustrates a kind of deliberate conveyance of something diverse, emotional and moodier than past concertos. According to Alfred Einstein; a German American musicologist, he describes the importance of different key signatures for Mozart. He says if G minor was the fatalistic key for Mozart, then C minor was the dramatic one. The core differentiates the aggressive harmonies and lyrical passages. He adds that the lyrical quality is usually outburst by the gloomy emotions. After Mozart had established this furious and tempestuous mood through the use of this signature key, the form of the piece remains to engender this unique departure from the previous piano concertos by Mozart (Alfred Einstein, 1962) Typically, Mozart concertos start with dialogue like an interface between the instrumentalist and also the orchestra; this can be not a similar with K491 wherever the instrumentalist newer plays the initial four notes of the musical organisation introduction. The exclusion of this dialogue at the start makes a lot of aggressive, foreboding sound. The previous concertos did a back and forth sharing of themes at the beginning of the track. • 27. Dworkin Paternalism How does Dworkin define paternalism, and when does he think it is justified? In addressing the principle of paternalism, Dworkin notes that there may be more cases in which it should be justified than what Mill stated. First Dworkin defines paternalism as the interference with a person s liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good, happiness, needs, interests or values of the person being coerced , although he later notes that in some cases, paternalism may also extend to interferences with the liberty of parties whose interests are not in question . He gives various examples of paternalistic laws and restrictions, such as the laws requiring motorcyclists to wear safety helmets, regulating the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better fulfill their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that they need exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious exemptions as they are advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so to exempt certain categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and equality. In addition, most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For example, in many countries, including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions allowing the wearing of burkas would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it enables fugitives to hide easily amongst many other things. If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they should not be prohibited by the law at all. Bou Habib s argument makes sense, but I maintain that religious exemptions would have negative consequences as it would leads to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychology and the Legal System Paper 1 With recent legislative issues making the news, one topic that has received a great deal of attention is that of indeterminate sentencing. This is the imposition of a sentence with no mandatory release date or set period of sentence to be served. Instead, one s sentence length is determined by the inmate s conduct while in prison. Upon successful completion of requirements the inmate may be returned to society, but it is possible that they will be kept behind bars for the remainder of his/her natural life. There are many issues that have come to light with indeterminate and determinate sentencing, such as how successful was the inmate? Is there really rehabilitation for sex offenders or drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with indeterminate sentencing is that it often puts too much power into the hands of the parole board which then can lead to arbitrary and discriminatory results. It has been seen that minorities and prisoners without connections receive overly harsh decisions of the parole boards while less deserving offenders are being released early.(Portman, 2017) Even with some of the issues at hand indeterminate sentencing is making a comeback. This is now happening even more as our prisons are becoming overcrowded. In turn, allowing more room for judicial or parole board discretion. Prosecutors are exercising discretion when they decide which of many arrests to charge and for what particular crime. Juries exercise discretion in not convicting defendants who killed under circumstances that may have justified their actions. A jury may opt to exercise discretion when it deliberates the fate of the alleged perpetrator. Parole boards also have the opportunity to excise discretion when they decide whether to commute a death sentence to life imprisonment.(Greene, E., Heilbrun, K. 2014 pg. 10 11) This is being seen in many states where rehabilitation is available and viewed as a reasonable attainable outcome for offenders. Determinate sentencing began to spread widely during the 1970s and 1980s and is now the rule in many states. (Portman, 2017) In the late 1970s, a rising crime rate, concern over individual rights, and a distrust of the government in the wake of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who were there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive side of things. Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times. Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going about fifty six yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense, who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The point after kick was missed causing this to stay a 13 7 Eagles lead. The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty four yard line and from there Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14 13, with 5:31left in the half. On the drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for the Indians. With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by Ryan Venable. • 32. Archetypes In King Arthur And Odysseus Archetypes have persisted in literary works through the sands of time and continue to be applied in today s literature. Throughout traditional and modern literature, the formulaic structure of myths and the use of archetypes has been utilized in a consistent manner. Although many would argue that the universal application of archetypes has been erratic and intermittent through time, the implementation of the major hero and mentor archetypes within the tale of King Arthur and The Odyssey, and the refined utilization of archetypes in modern literature, exhibit the universality of archetypes in different cultures and time periods. The hero archetype in both the tale of King Arthur and The Odyssey exemplifies its omnitude in British and Greek culture respectively. Although each hero delineates his own culture s values during different times, it is evident that both share similar qualities and traits pertaining to the hero archetype. In Homer s The Odyssey, Odysseus is representative of the Greek values of rule through Gods and Goddesses. In contrast, King Arthur represents British values of rule without the significant influence of supernatural beings. Granted that each story contains nearly opposite values, the hero archetype is still able to resonate in both characters. One of the main heroic aspects portrayed by each character is their dynamic personalities.
