Jfk, By John Fitzgerald Kennedy
On the cold blustery snow covered day of January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK)
participated in the 44th presidential inauguration, when he was sworn in as the 35th President of The
United States of America. The inauguration was almost canceled, as a result of the nor easter, which
pummeled the nation s capital hours before. In order for the inauguration to proceed as planned, The
U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, thousands of D.C. employees and almost 1,700 boy scouts worked
feverously to clear the area and streets of snow that finished falling just hours before the occasion. The
event went on as planned at the State Capital in front of an enormous crowd of family, friends, famous
people and supporters of JFK. Among the most notable in attendance was JFK s wife Jackie, his
mother Rose, Vice president Lyndon B. Johnson, Dwight D. Eisenhower and 86 year old poet Robert
Frost who recited poems. This was also the first time the presidential inauguration was televised in
color. With extremely unbearable weather, and a Nor easter moving out of the area just hours before, a
massive crowd gathered at the State Capital to participate witnessing history. A crowd, full of several
emotions: including excitement, fear, and uncertainty surrounding the future and safety, not only for
their great nation, but similarly the world. The Cold War was progressing and multiple countries were
rearing their ugly head, showing how cowardly and evil the human race can be. Spectators were

Research – Methodology and Ethics
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ETHICS
This essay attempts to identify and sum up two research methods (Qualitative and Quantitative
Research Methods), assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and explain how two ethical issues
arise from research. Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches are two of the various methods
used in sociological research. The use of these methods can be very important and can normally
produce efficient, realistic and logical results.
So what is qualitative research and what is quantitative research? To begin with, we look at the
distinctions between the forms of research. Thus, on first consideration, the use of questionnaires as a
research technique might be seen as a quantitative strategy, whereas ... Show more content on

Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of suggesting possible relationships, causes,
effects and dynamic processes.
Because statistics are not used, but rather qualitative research uses a more descriptive, narrative style,
this research might be of particular benefit to the practitioner as she, or he could turn to qualitative
reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining
new insight.
Qualitative research adds flesh and blood to social analysis.
Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have some similarities, for instance, whilst
quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory, it can also be used for exploring area and
generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses
and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation.
Qualitative data often includes quantification, e.g. statements such as more than, less than, most as
well as specific numbers, quantitative, i.e. questionnaire approaches can collect qualitative data
through open ended questions.
ETHICAL ISSUES IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
During the designing of questionnaires and the training of interviewers a number of ethical issues need
to be taken into consideration. Respondents have a right to be informed about the nature and purposes
of the study and how the information will be used prior to data collection. The issue of anonymity,

21st century, economic problems have incurred an increasing number of people s attention as the
economic develop rapidly, and these problems are usually caused by human themselves. For instance,
the occurrence of Global Financial Crisis (GFC) in 2007 was induced by people themselves who
expect that the economic level could be constantly maintained in the impractically high position, but
there are lots of issues caused by such high level of economy. Even though the whole world economy
is trying to recover from the Global Financial Crisis, but it still has some propagation effect to other
countries until now. There are many factors could cause the Global Financial Crisis, impractically high
economic level is one reason that is mentioned previously, and another primary reason of Global
Financial Crisis is the securitization. Securitisation is the process whereby loans, receivables and other
financial assets are pooled together, with their cash flows or economic values redirected support
payments on related securities. Securitization first emerged in the 1970s with the sale of securities

Wing Biddlebaum s Ambiguous Actions In Hands By Sherwood...
In Sherwood Anderson s Hands , the main character, Wing Biddlebaum s ambiguous actions (both
physical and psychological) are often misinterpreted and get him into trouble due to his tendency to
express himself through his hands. He is accused of homosexual pedophilia and gets shunned by the
society. As Wing gets rejected from one society, he gets accepted by another. Yet, Wing s past prevents
him to fully engage with his surrounding, and he is only able to make a friendship with George
Willard, a young reporter in town. Their relationship plays an important role as Wing s interaction
with George sparks a change in Wing, and serves to demonstrate that the supposedly sexual acts that
Wing displays is neither concerning nor intriguing part of the story. Anderson s effective use of diction
and sentence structure creates a clash between Wing s psychological state ... Show more content on

The author describes Wing s psychological state using only few particular, repetitive words such as
lost , inspire , and dream . Biddlebaum desperately desires to escape his world. He is shunned by the
screaming crowd of people, and runs away to Winesburg where he still does not think of himself as in
any way a part of , and only wishes to shut ears to the roaring of the voices. Even though, the
Winesburg society seems very accepting of him, his past haunts him to point he literally wants to lose
himself and forget his reality. His only way to live normally, or feel part of something is an emotional
escape to the other imaginary world. The author could have easily chosen different words like escape ,
but Anderson specifically wanted to point out the idea of Wing s emotional and physical desire to
detach himself from the reality. Thus, he loses his mind and and the sense of his body to this
psychological state, and consequently becomes unaware of his physical

The Women In Beowulf
In the book Beowulf, the women played significant roles at this period of time. It was actually a time
when women were well respected. Some women were even referred to as a noble lady, like
Wealtheow. So, why were the roles of the women in the story of Beowulf important? What did they do
and how did they do it? Finally, did they offer an alternate prospective to the poetic story? Yes, all the
women in the story of Beowulf, like Wealtheow, Hygd, Hildeburh, and Grendal s mother had roles
that offered an alternate prospective of the story.
The most important role that the women had was their partnerships with their husbands. In the
marriage women were the much more productive ones in the relationship. During this time period the
Beowulf women were considered equal to men and were able to make huge decisions. For instance,
women were able to choose whether they wanted war or peace. Some women like Hildeburh were sent
as gifts to other kingdoms which symbolized there peace. So, one of the great character traits the
women had in the story was being a peacemaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

weight. Wealtheow, Hygd, and Hildeburh were all peacemakers and wise leaders. Hildeburh also made

mother had a different character trait and perspective about Beowulf. Grendal s mother showed her
protective side, so she wanted to take revenge against Beowulf for her son s death. She obviously
eschewed the peaceful character trait that the rest of women showed. She did what she could to make

Descriptive Writing In Catcher In The Rye
Mr. Spencer Ackley s Descriptive writing The Catcher in The Rye is about a seventeen year old boy
Named Holden who is in a mental hospital. Having a flashback about what happened last December
when he was 16 and just got kicked out of Pence prep in the story he is trying to discover the world.
Confused about everything does poorly in school and shows depression in hatred for everyone and
everything. Throughout the story he meets people that impact his life like Mr. Spencer and Robert
Ackley. Mr. Spencer a seventy year old man, who is Holden s history teacher. You may still wonder
why he is even teaching at his age if you really think about it. Old and gross two words that come out
of readers mind s when reading the story. The minute I went in, I was sorry of I d come he was reading
the Atlantic monthly , and there were pills and medicine all over the place and everything smelled like
Vicks Nose Drops it was pretty depressing I m not too crazy about sick people anyway what made it
more depressing , old spencer had on this very sad , ratty old bathrobe that he was probably born in it
or something I don t much like to see old guys in their pajamas and bathrobes anyway this introduces
us to the way adults view Holden and they he views them in return this a big lack of understanding Mr
. Spencer dosen t know what s wrong with Holden but he wants to help by lecturing Holden.
Mr. Spencer is a very nice teacher the character in the story seems to have a connection with him.
Even if he failed Holden for not writing his essay on the Egyptians like he should ve have old Spencer
cares for him deeply. I d like to put a sense in that head of yours boy I m trying to help you If I can
Holden thought different of all the teachers Mr spencer made a big difference but that didn t mean he
would change that still gives the reader a thought on Mr. Spencer never giving up and having faith that
someday things would change.
Robert Ackley a former roommate of Holden s has many weaknesses. Ackley is dirty, pimply, and all
around unhygienic he s annoying. He ll come into your room and pick your personal stuff and put it
back in the wrong place. He thinks being two years older than Holden makes him superior was about

Racism And Supremacism In The Death Certificate By Ice Cube
It s haunting, it s jarring, it s loud, it s in your face, Ice Cube s second album Death Certificate is a lot
of things the one thing it s not though is nice. The album opens up with the song Wrong N**ga to
F**K with , an intense song that goes straight for the jugular. Ice Cube s lyrical assault on everything
wrong with authority, the Justice System, racism and more begins there, where he talks about beating
LAPD police chief Daryl Gates, running with his posse Lench Mob; in Wrong N**ga to F**K with he
basically says that he s coming for everyone no holds barred. Death Certificate challenges the white
supremacist the status quo because it s a work of art that brought the problems that many people of
color in America faced back into public attention, problems that white people had just swept under the
rug. He questioned the fairness of authority, brought up the issue of racial profiling and called out
anyone and everyone he could. With Death Certificate Ice Cube examined racism, created a national
conversation on poverty, censorship, free speech, and violence which reenergized the quest in a new,
younger generation for equality.
The main issue at the heart of Death Certificate is racism. In Death Certificate, Ice Cube talks
specifically about White Black racism and Asian Black racism. Let s start with the Asian Black racism
that s discussed on the record. On March 29th, 1991, 15 year old Latasha Harlins was shot by a

family live in the West. One night her brother Dominic and her father decide they need to get through
the wall for work without guards noticing because the consequences could be deadly. Her brother and
Father make it across but they cannot find a way to come back because the wall has been added on
and is even more dangerous now. Gerta ends up not being able to talk to her father or brother for at
least 4 years. One day Gerta was walking to school with her best friend Anna when she see s her
brother, Dominic on the other side of the wall and waves. She eventually ended up seeing her dad to

the Officer but she knew he would be watching her every move from now on. But everyday when she
goes to school she see s them on the platform and her dad is doing a dance that he always did for her

cross that wall it could be deadly and we don t know what would happen.
The three main characters of the book are Gerta, her brother Fritz, and Anna which is Gerta s best
friend. Gerta is the main character and she is very determined, brave and loves her family very much

The Myth Of Hades
Once in the land of The Underworld there was a god by the name of Hades. Hades was the richest of
the gods. But there was one flaw, he didn t have a heart, that is why Zeus put him as the ruler of the
underworld. One fine spring day Zeus was planning a gathering of the gods. But he had to make one
final decision, and that was if he was going to invite his brother Hades. The sun hurts his eyes and the
smell of the nice air burns his nostrils. Zeus says. His wife Hera was trying to help him with the
decision, but it was only making it worse so she left the room. Finally, he made the decision and that
was inviting Hades. Hermes delivered the letter to Hades and he was very surprised, but now it was

While Hades was driving his chariot he found himself stopping at the maiden s little cabin. Hades
wanted to see her, but he didn t want to startle her so he slept in his chariot that night as he let the
horses rest after the long ride. He woke up the next day by after he felt a tap with a stick on the
forehead. He looked and found that it was the young maiden, seeing if he was okay but very cautious.
She didn t know who he was so she asked very kindly, Who are you. Hades didn t want her to know

Long Distance Relationships Essay
Long Distance Relationships: Can They Work? Two clichés: Absence makes the heart grow fonder
and Out of sight, out of mind. Which one of these two conflicting views is closer to the reality? As it
turns out, it does not really matter that much since long distance relationships (LDR) suffer from
exactly the same strengths and weaknesses as proximal relationships. Whether two people are going to
have fulfilling relationship does not only depend on their geographical closeness. What matters is
quality, not quantity. According to one expert on LDRs, the majority of studies that have been done
show no greater risk of an LDR breaking up than any other relationship (Guldner, 2004, p. 6). An

I approached him: he immediately remembered me and we spend next few hours engaged in
conversation discovering that we share similar opinions on many issues. Before I could even recover
from the initial shock of seeing him again, he asked me to go out for a walk with him the next day. I
agreed and that was the beginning of our relationship. He had been divorced for ten years and had
made a decision to never marry again. I had normally dated men closer to my age (in one case even
younger than me) and would have never contemplated dating (much less marry) somebody 21 years
older then me. However, the unlikely happened to both of us. A few months after our first date we got
married. Today, five years later, we have two beautiful children and have been living in a long distance
marriage for three and a half years. It is definitely not easy for us to maintain a successful marriage
being an ocean apart. Our relationship, as any other, has its strengths and its weaknesses. What I find
the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional
dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good
communication. Intimacy requires that partners are able to talk about anything and to feel understood
by the loved one. It became apparent during our marriage that neither of us have solid communication
skills.

The Concepts Of Sexual Literacy And Well Being
Introduction The concepts of sexual literacy and well being are going to go hand and hand in everyday
life. When working through situations the better your sexual literacy is the better you will be able to
solve the problem. Sexual literacy is simply, the knowledge and skill needed to promote and protect
sexual well being (2), this is any information you have on sexuality as a whole. Just like in school, the
more literate you are, the better you will be at the subject. Which leads to your sexual well being, this
is experiencing good health, pleasure, and satisfaction in a relationship. (2) Anything that is not
harmful to you or your significant other falls into this category; it is the well being of your
relationship. More specifically, I will be connecting it to my personal situation of communication and
the difficulties of being in a long distance relationship.
Personal Explanation I am have currently been in a relationship for one year and all is great, but for
the past 7 months we have been in two different cities and more recently even states apart. At first we
were only a few hours away, but our relationship was in a real bad place because we round it hard to
find time to talk to one another. I was doing a summer internship that kept me busy 24/7, and he was
recently graduated working 9 to 5 in Houston. Our problem began, when he would want to call and
talk, but I was working still, which lead to me calling late and we would both be too tired to talk. This

America s Traditions And Customs
Imagine traveling to a foreign country, where the culture and cuisine is very different from your own.
How would you begin to explore the nation s traditions and customs? Maybe you would start by
visiting the most famous restaurants, museums, and buildings. By studying these places and things,
you would begin to understand more about the history and what it was like living there during that
time period. Not many people think about how our country s cuisine began. The different mealtimes
and food trends, through the years, helped shape our nation to what it is today. Other countries
influenced and help create our ideas for our cuisine. During the Industrial Revolution, American
mealtime and different food trends were positively affected. One of the first and most famous groups
that influenced our cuisine is the Native American Indians. The earliest settlers in Jamestown, Virginia
and Plymouth, Massachusetts relied on the American Indians with their way of preparing and cooking
food. The three main crops that the American Indians used were corn, beans, and squash. The Native
American Indians generously shared and taught their way of life and how they made their food to the
settlers. Throughout the forming of the colonies there were many different cultures and eating habits.
There were hunters, farmers, and both. Things started to change once the 13 colonies were beginning
to be formed. When all 13 colonies were established the food was abundant, but it also was varied. It

Thrice Running Away Analysis
Chapter Four Analysis of Runaway in the Perspective of Deleuze s Post structuralism
4.1 Analysis of Thrice Running Away Some Other Elements in Runaway from the Perspective of
Rhizome
Alice Munro is claimed to be the best fiction writer now working in North America and her Runaway
is regarded as a marvel. She is a master in the field of short novel writing. However, her short stories,
usually within forty or fifty pages, can cover a content of that of long novels. They are condensed long
novels. In her novels, there are human mysteries, suspense, thrilling unexpectedness of real life and all
these elements keep her readers glued in her hands. (Munro, 2004: 3) The author believe the
complexity and uncertainty are the charms that made Munro s stories fascinating. And that the
absolutely black and white mode or tree like mode of theories would find it difficult to deal with
Munro s stories. On the contrary, Deleuze s concept of rhizome would probably be the helpful toolbox
that can be applied to analyze Munro s stories. We people want an order and as a result we create the
hierarchy system, a tree system but that is not the reality. The reality goes like a rhizome. Reality is
much more complex than the black and white mode or the tree like mode. ... Show more content on

My Own Childhood Care And Education Program For Each Of...
1. Describe two specific strategies that you would use in your own childhood care and education
program for each of Epstein s six types of family involvement. (10 points). One of the strategies I
would use in my own childhood care/education program is to make each student feel safe and
welcome. This strategy will help me a lot in demonstrating each children s a parenting style. Another
strategy would be communication, for instance, involving each children s family to come and
volunteer. I would like to include each family to come for parent s conference to know more about
their children s evolution in the classroom. Also, to send home activities. That way parents help their
child s learn at home. Last strategy would be collaborating with the community in collecting cans,
clothes, money, and other resources to help the community.

An Analysis Of A Letter To An Immigrant
We are writing this letter as a personal reference for Mr.
He had informed my husband Rene Milian Lopez and I Magdalena Hernandez Cabrera, that he is in
the process of suing his landlord for wanting to kick him out of his house due to his age and the
amount of years he s lived in that property. My husband and I both concede that that is preposterous.
Nobody has the right to remove a person out of their home, even if they re the landlord without a
cohesive reason. The seven years, our family has lived across the street from... house, we have
observed his calm, conscientious, and welcoming persona. Throughout the years we ve never noticed
any complaints from his neighbors, arguing/fights, and bad neighborly conduct. We can both agree

Beasts Of The Southern Wild Character Analysis
The film Beasts of the Southern Wild, directed by Behn Zeitlin, is set in Montegut, Louisiana, known
by the residents as the bathtub, and follows a young girl named Hushpuppy as her home is flooded.
She lives with her father, Wink, and her many, many animals. The bathtub is separated from the rest of
the world by a levee built to restrain water from entering the mainland. Both Wink and Hushpuppy are
incredibly happy with their lives, though Wink is slowly deteriorating from an unknown illness.
However, when a storm falls upon their home, its destruction changes everything. Many of the
residents of the bathtub evacuated before the storm; only Wink, Hushpuppy, and a few other families
decided to stay and tough out the storm. Soon after it ends, Wink s health begins to decline rapidly.
Even though Hushpuppy is scared for her father, she continues working hard, striving to save her
home from destruction. In her head, Hushpuppy animates aurochs, mythical creatures, as a way to deal
with her father s upcoming death, suggesting that people s natural instinct is to resist change through
illusion. Throughout the movie Hushpuppy s emotions are represented through the aurochs journey
toward her home. As the aurochs travel closer and closer, she becomes closer to accepting her father s
death. The images shown of where the aurochs are, how they move, and where they are traveling to,
all help to show Hushpuppy s different methods of coping with Wink s death.

Essay Alternative Energy Sources for the World
The world has relied on the same sources of fuels and delivery systems for at least the past one
hundred years. Since the turn of the Industrial Revolution, the world has been dependent on coal, oil,
and other natural resources. These sources of fuel have worked fine for the world, until now. At the
rate it that these fuels are used the world may one day run out of these precious resources. Our society
must prepare now to utilize an alternate source for its fuel. The longer the world waits, the harder it
will be to replace these fuels before they run out. Four different types of fuels are currently under
research. These fuels are hydrogen, natural gas, bio fuels, and solar energy. Currently under research is
a new type of motor, known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1). In a process known as electrolysis, hydrogen is created by applying electricity to water. When
applied to water, electricity breaks down the water into bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gases. Some
argue that this process would require electricity produced by current fuel sources. However, this
electricity could also be supplied by solar energy. Once created hydrogen must then be stored and
distributed. Hydrogen must be stored at super high pressures as a liquid. Once stored, the hydrogen
will then be converted back into a gas. This area of research is making large strides to develop this
storage technology. Once the researchers can overcome this stage, it will be more readily available to
the public. The infrastructure for hydrogen could be adapted from the current system that is used. The
gas, stations, and fueling stations could already act as a means of distribution. This means hydrogen
may one day be a logical replacement for conventional fuels. Another promising type of fuel that can
replace conventional fuels is natural gas. Natural gas, found along with conventional fuels, is very
abundant. Nearly 85% of natural gas is made of methane (Gotlib, par. 1). It is found among the same
petroleum deposits that conventional oil is found or in sole gas deposits (Gotlib, par. 1). This gas has
been around since the beginning of time. In the early Chinese dynasty, collected from vents in the
ground, the Chinese used this

Texas Annexation Essay
Why did the annexation of Texas cause political, military, economic, cultural, and moral controversy
in the United States?
Even before the Mexican American War the United States is already doomed with sectional
differences. Different people have different beliefs. As to who is siding with slavery and racial
equality. This is such a strong point By needing to fulfill the United States Manifest Destiny as the
latest justification for white settlers to take the land they coveted; This eventually led to Mexican
American War in 1846 1848. It was the same superiority and desire our first settlers showed when
they started seizing lands from our Indian ancestors. Regardless, who owns the lands it had to be
acquired at some point. President Polk craved Mexico s remaining northern provinces. He showed
interest to buy the territory, but Mexicans refused to sell it. Tensions rose high when Zachary Taylor
refused to retreat and the Mexican cavalry attacked a party of American soldiers, killing and wounding
and capturing the rest. Our President had already obtained his cabinet s approval of a war message. It
was just a matter of time and the war begun. It was an American victory and a treaty had been signed
and the border was drawn. The United States was simply unstoppable. They had the power to expand
and they had done all their might to acquire it. Mr. President was an advanced thinker. As Britain was
also snooping on Texas; He had to do what had to be done. Tyler did the annexation

Impact Of Extracurricular Activities On Students
Extracurricular activities are offered in almost all schools and universities. You can engage in
extracurricular activities as young kindergarten up to your adulthood and even beyond that. These
activities come in different forms like sports, clubs, fraternities and sororities, youth groups and other
social events. This paper is mainly about how extracurricular activities affect the students. In the
research paper of Nikki Wilson, Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Students, it says there that
students who participate in extracurricular activities benefit from the opportunities that it has
presented them. One of these benefits is having better grades. My friends Julie and Alex answered in
the survey I prepared that having extracurricular activities challenge them to get good grades because

Comparing The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
Based on the experiences and hardships of Native Americans in the United States, the stories featured
in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie display the escapades of Victor
and a few others such as Junior and Thomas. The collection of tales shows various stereotypes of
Native Americans that the author has identified with as aspects of his life such as drinking problems
within families. One of the main focuses of the book as a whole that was present in almost every story
was the relationship between Native Americans and other races. The Natives in the story almost
always inherently clashed with the whites of the story, however all was not well between other
minorities and even other Natives interacting with the protagonists. Race, whether it is Native
American, another minority, or white, does not determine the conflict and tension between two people
as displayed by Victor and Junior s interactions throughout The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in
Heaven. In the stories featured in Alexie s piece, damaging relationships between Natives and their
own families, neighbors, and peers can be seen. In the tale Every Little Hurricane , the toxic relations
between families and friends are exhibited as attendees of a party begin to fight. Victor s ... Show

Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break
Everybody knows the feeling of losing a loved one, a friend, or family member. Everyone has been to
at least one funeral, and it s very sad and at times uncomfortable. The awkward interactions with
people saying sorry or the feeling of seeing the ones you love be in such pain. In the poem, Mid term
Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every aspect. In Mid term Break
Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he comes home to the funeral. As
the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after the death of his brother. Heaney s
words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a
death which is typical for many of his poems. James Persoon, a writer for The Facts On File
Companion to British Poetry, 1900 to Present, writes that Heaney here draws on his own experience in
having an adolescent speaker reflect on the death of his four year old brother, for the poet s brother,
Christopher, was killed in a car accident at age four in 1953. (Persoon). Not only can one see that
Heaney s emotions were put into this poem but also his own life experiences. Losing a family member
is hard enough, and it is even harder when that person is young because no one will ever know the full
potential that person could have had if they had not died. The language Heaney uses allows the reader
to see the importance of the main character. It also shows the significance of the

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia Essay
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, or FARC, have been waging a guerilla war against the
Columbian government for thirty eight years. The organization has a Marxist Socialist ideological
base and has been terrorizing Columbia for some time now. The most recent development is Senator
Martha Catalina Daniels was shot twice in the head and killed on March 3. Her body and two others
were found at the bottom of a ravine about twenty five miles west of the Columbia s capital, Bogotá.
They had also been tortured.

It only leads to the belief that they do not wish to patch things up and stop the violence. They want a
socialist government and the Columbian people want the democratic system that is in place now. I
believe that until the FARC gets what they want, they will not stop their terrorist ways. So how does
the Columbian government accomplish this?
One way to do this is to stop their flow of money. The FARC has admitted to making their money
from the illegal drug industry. If the Columbian government can somehow intercept the drugs before it
leaves the country or intercept the millions of dollars flowing into Columbia from the drug sales, then
the FARC would have a difficult time getting the weapons they need to commit these terrorist acts.
The Columbian government is in the middle of trying to solve these problems and has been since the
Medellín and Cali cartels have been around. Obviously this has not been an easy task.
Since the late 1990 s the United States and the Columbian government have been trying to work out a
plan to help the Columbian government fight the drug trade. It is called Plan Columbia and has been
in effect since late 1999 and early 2000. The objective of Plan Columbia is for the U.S. to shift
massive aid to the Columbian government. The amount of the aid is around $1.5 billion. This is to
help train the Columbian military on the war against drugs. The U.S. will

Tenets Of Democracy In Zapatista
Democratic Theory In 1993 The Revolutionary Woman s Law was adopted into the Zapatistas
movement, this law challenged the norms and traditions of a patriarchy society (Basu 2010, 323). The
women collectively wrote the law based on their shared experiences. The women s request were that
they had the right to choose who to marry, when to marry, whether they would have children, and how
many, and how they would participate in society. This new law legitimized women as equals with
men. Rosalva Castillo states that, The emergence of an indigenous women s movement with gender
demands is also the result of the Zapatista movement (Basu 2010, 322). This was the beginning of a
new democratic emergence political identity for women. What is democracy? Political scientists argue
that there are three major tenets of a democratic government: popular sovereignty, equality, and
liberty. Popular Sovereignty uses direct democracy; power of the people; self determination;
autonomy. Equality: values the contributions of women just as those of men; Equal ... Show more

My Year Is My First Year Of College
Last year was my first year of college. Freshmen year as a transition for me from High School to
College, I don t think I did well in adjusting to college life. I m regretting lots thing I could have done,
but I didn t. I wish I could be like other ordinary students live in the dorm, they have more
opportunities to involve school s activity, and more chances to get to know more people. As a
freshman in college, I was scared about failing my classes so I tried my best to work on every
assignment in order to have a good grade. However I still had all kinds of new experiences, like
driving by myself to school, a new kind of teaching system and meeting new friends. I had many
interesting assignments from all my class, but my English 10M class was the class that helped me
improve on my writing. In my English 10M class we had many essay assignments and we were
required to do at least three drafts before turning it in. We also had a chance to do peer review and get
feedback from professors, which helped a lot for me to understand where I made mistakes and what I
needed to work on. After taking an English 10M class, I had unforgettable essay experiences and I
learned a lot from it.
The narcissism essay had a lot of requirements. The essay was for my English 10M class, and for the
assignment, we had to argue about whether narcissism is good or bad. To do this, we used information
from our assigned reading as well as our own experiences and opinions. So we needed to pick a side

Chunky Munky and Brownie Chew Gooder, they appeal more to the hip and sociable group of people.
Coupled with premium prices, they have focused on image differentiation to project a fun and exciting

Phrases such as Waiting only makes it sweeter [4] serve to echo the sinful delight that consumers can

  • 2. Jfk, By John Fitzgerald Kennedy On the cold blustery snow covered day of January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) participated in the 44th presidential inauguration, when he was sworn in as the 35th President of The United States of America. The inauguration was almost canceled, as a result of the nor easter, which pummeled the nation s capital hours before. In order for the inauguration to proceed as planned, The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, thousands of D.C. employees and almost 1,700 boy scouts worked feverously to clear the area and streets of snow that finished falling just hours before the occasion. The event went on as planned at the State Capital in front of an enormous crowd of family, friends, famous people and supporters of JFK. Among the most notable in attendance was JFK s wife Jackie, his mother Rose, Vice president Lyndon B. Johnson, Dwight D. Eisenhower and 86 year old poet Robert Frost who recited poems. This was also the first time the presidential inauguration was televised in color. With extremely unbearable weather, and a Nor easter moving out of the area just hours before, a massive crowd gathered at the State Capital to participate witnessing history. A crowd, full of several emotions: including excitement, fear, and uncertainty surrounding the future and safety, not only for their great nation, but similarly the world. The Cold War was progressing and multiple countries were rearing their ugly head, showing how cowardly and evil the human race can be. Spectators were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research – Methodology and Ethics RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ETHICS This essay attempts to identify and sum up two research methods (Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods), assess their relative strengths and weaknesses and explain how two ethical issues arise from research. Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches are two of the various methods used in sociological research. The use of these methods can be very important and can normally produce efficient, realistic and logical results. So what is qualitative research and what is quantitative research? To begin with, we look at the distinctions between the forms of research. Thus, on first consideration, the use of questionnaires as a research technique might be seen as a quantitative strategy, whereas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of suggesting possible relationships, causes, effects and dynamic processes. Because statistics are not used, but rather qualitative research uses a more descriptive, narrative style, this research might be of particular benefit to the practitioner as she, or he could turn to qualitative reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining new insight. Qualitative research adds flesh and blood to social analysis. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have some similarities, for instance, whilst quantitative research may be mostly used for testing theory, it can also be used for exploring area and generating hypotheses and theory. Similarly qualitative research can be used for testing hypotheses and theories even though it is mostly used for theory generation. Qualitative data often includes quantification, e.g. statements such as more than, less than, most as well as specific numbers, quantitative, i.e. questionnaire approaches can collect qualitative data through open ended questions. ETHICAL ISSUES IN QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH During the designing of questionnaires and the training of interviewers a number of ethical issues need to be taken into consideration. Respondents have a right to be informed about the nature and purposes of the study and how the information will be used prior to data collection. The issue of anonymity, ... In Sherwood Anderson s Hands , the main character, Wing Biddlebaum s ambiguous actions (both physical and psychological) are often misinterpreted and get him into trouble due to his tendency to express himself through his hands. Yet, Wing s past prevents him to fully engage with his surrounding, and he is only able to make a friendship with George Willard, a young reporter in town. Whether two people are going to have fulfilling relationship does not only depend on their geographical closeness. What matters is quality, not quantity. He had been divorced for ten years and had made a decision to never marry again. I had normally dated men closer to my age (in one case even younger than me) and would have never contemplated dating (much less marry) somebody 21 years older then me. However, the unlikely happened to both of us. A few months after our first date we got married. Today, five years later, we have two beautiful children and have been living in a long distance marriage for three and a half years. It is definitely not easy for us to maintain a successful marriage being an ocean apart. Our relationship, as any other, has its strengths and its weaknesses. What I find the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good communication. Intimacy requires that partners are able to talk about anything and to feel understood by the loved one. It became apparent during our marriage that neither of us have solid communication skills. ... Not many people think about how our country s cuisine began. The different mealtimes and food trends, through the years, helped shape our nation to what it is today. Other countries influenced and help create our ideas for our cuisine. During the Industrial Revolution, American mealtime and different food trends were positively affected. One of the first and most famous groups that influenced our cuisine is the Native American Indians. The earliest settlers in Jamestown, Virginia and Plymouth, Massachusetts relied on the American Indians with their way of preparing and cooking food. The three main crops that the American Indians used were corn, beans, and squash. She is a master in the field of short novel writing. However, her short stories, usually within forty or fifty pages, can cover a content of that of long novels. They are condensed long novels. In her novels, there are human mysteries, suspense, thrilling unexpectedness of real life and all these elements keep her readers glued in her hands. In a process known as electrolysis, hydrogen is created by applying electricity to water. When applied to water, electricity breaks down the water into bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gases. Some argue that this process would require electricity produced by current fuel sources. However, this electricity could also be supplied by solar energy. Once created hydrogen must then be stored and distributed. Hydrogen must be stored at super high pressures as a liquid. Once stored, the hydrogen will then be converted back into a gas. This area of research is making large strides to develop this storage technology. Once the researchers can overcome this stage, it will be more readily available to the public. The infrastructure for hydrogen could be adapted from the current system that is used. The gas, stations, and fueling stations could already act as a means of distribution. This means hydrogen may one day be a logical replacement for conventional fuels. Another promising type of fuel that can replace conventional fuels is natural gas. In the poem, Mid term Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every aspect. In Mid term Break Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he comes home to the funeral. As the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after the death of his brother. Heaney s words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a death which is typical for many of his poems.
