The future of learning, assessment and qualifications in a post-covid worldMark S. Steed
This session will set up a debate about two areas: the future of teaching and learning; and the future of assessments and qualifications and micro qualifications.
I argue that we were already on a journey from the physical to the digital before covid and that the pandemic has accelerated the rate of change.
I will argue that the current model for T&L is unsustainable and that we need to explore new models that will ultimately be determined by price point.
I argue that qualifications are going to shift from high stakes to on demand micro qualifications.

How Disruptive Innovation may change schools in the future: Lessons from DubaiMark S. Steed
Presentation given the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference in Belfast on Wednesday 4th October 2017.
Three Lessons from Dubai about meeting rapid demand for schooling.
Five Prophecies about the future of schooling:
1) For Profit Education will be the norm in the world
2) Being taught by a specialist teacher in a classroom will be a luxury
3) Blended Learning and Virtual Reality Teaching will be the disruptors of education
4) There will be ‘superstar teachers’
commanding very high salaries
5) Primary teachers will be assisted by robots
Three Questions:
1) What will the future workplace look like?
What is the future of the professions?
Will there be jobs that we haven’t thought of?
2) What will schools look like in the future?
Can we replace specialist teachers with technology or with ‘para-teachers’?
3) What should we be teaching young people to prepare them for the future?
What will be valued in the mid-C21?
This keynote address was given at the ISC Digital Conference at Microsoft, Reading on 30th November 2017. In this presentation, Mark Steed looks at how AI, Robots and VR will change education and asks if new technologies will replace teachers.
Making it happen: teaching the technology generationwillstewart
This is a copy of my presentation to the JISC Regional Support Centre for Yorkshire & Humber on June 10th at Bradford University. The sub-title of the presentation was Beyond \"no significant difference\", on the basis that, in education, we use technology to do things the same way as we have always done rather than use it to do things differently. The theme of the presentation was that we, the teachers, rather than our students, are the technology generation. Because the use of digital technology has been completely normalised and fully integrated by our students, they don\'t see it as technology. They are the \"no technology generation\", and it is us who need to be taught how to use it in ways that engage our students and make their education relevant.

Transforming Education with 21st Century Skills and ICT Literacy:
In the education sector, there has been a growing movement toward infusing 21st
century skills into teaching. Driven by organizations around the world, this trend is more than a passing fad, and has caught the attention of those training and equipping teachers for the digital-age classroom. 21st century skills are what today’s students and graduates need to compete, and succeed, in today’s global workforce. There are a series of concepts and themes that go beyond the conventional to teach safe and effective technology integration and application skill sets. Whether you are a professor, an administrator, an instructor, a trainer or a future teacher, you must understand 21st century skills to be effective. So are you wondering exactly what 21st Century Skills and ICT Literacy's are all about? Are you trying to determine what steps to take to begin bringing 21st Century Skills into your classroom projects infused with Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) literacy?

There are too many institutions serving too few students
at too high a price. Colleges and universities are not consistently delivering the desired outcomes of social and financial mobility, and we’re experiencing these trends at the exact moment there is a greater availability of outcomes data. The result? Unprecedented transparency in the state of higher education. We need entrepreneurial academic leaders to develop new offerings and new business models with greater relevance and ROI.

Italy Agriculture Equipment Market Outlook to 2027harveenkaur52
Italy has a strong manufacturing base for agricultural machinery and equipment. Companies including CNH Industrial (which includes brands like New Holland Agriculture and Case IH), SAME Deutz-Fahr, and Landini are prominent players in the market, both domestically and internationally. There is a growing emphasis on precision agriculture techniques in Italy. Farmers are adopting technologies like GPS-guided tractors, drones, and sensor-based systems to optimize resource use, monitor crop health, and enhance overall farm management practices. Government policies and support programs influence people to adopt agricultural machinery and equipment. Subsidies, incentives for modernization, and regulatory standards related to emissions and safety impact the market dynamics.
The agricultural equipment market in Italy is a consolidated market with the leading 4 players contributing to ~60% of the overall market revenue. The market players consist of established domestic manufacturers & leading global players. The companies selling tractors and combine harvesters in Italy are regulated by the i.e. the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation.

With the evolving education and training technological
environments, Learning & Development professionals may
see an advantage in shifting their thinking and consider changing their departments’ focus from a cost centre to a profit centre. By measuring in terms of a profit centre the industry would be able to better determine the ROI of their e-learning, which, according to Accenture research, is often in the 500% range.

A New Model for Talent Management in SchoolsMark S. Steed
This presentation offers a new model for talent management in schools. This reflects the changing world of careers having shifted from 'jobs for life' to 'portfolio careers'.
The presentation proposes a 'tour of duty' model of mutually beneficial short term commitments between schools and individuals.
This presentation looks at how AI works, how it is being used presently in Education and then outline some concerns about how AI might be used in education in the future.
I argue that AI has a much greater part to play in Education – particularly in making education more widely available in the developing world and in reducing the cost of education.
The talk then moves on to discuss general ethical concerns about how AI is being used in society, looking at the issue of how we program autonomous vehicles as a case in point. I then outline five areas of concern about the use (and potential abuse) of AI in education arguing that we need to have a much more informed debate before things go too far. With this in mind, I close with some suggestions for courses and reading that might help colleagues to become better informed about the subject.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Legacy ofCovid-19
on Pedagogy
Can we offer live-teaching during term?
The general consensus in
schools is that there is
binary choice:
either we are teaching
through home learning;
or we are teaching face-to
face.
This is a false dichotomy.
Going forward, we can and
must do both.

Here are how the ISC Research Global Projections looked in January 2020. These will no doubt change because of the impact of coronavirus, but how they will change, the sector is yet to know.
ISC Research is continuing to track the market and gather data helping schools and supporting organisations to understand market change.
ISC Research values all the insights that international schools can share in order to provide accurate analysis of the impact to international schools the world over. ISC Research will, in turn, continue to share as much as it can with all international schools.
