Frank Zappa Influence
Art is making something out of nothing and selling it. Frank Zappa. Frank Vincent Zappa was
born December 21, 1940. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and famously known for being a
Music Producer, Director, Songwriter and most importantly, a Guitarist. His father was a
mathematician and a chemist which cause the family to always be moving into new homes
frequently, Zappa was all over the place as a child. His father always inspired him to get into the
same work and when Zappa was young he always attempted to make new gadgets and become an
inventor, but that shortly turned into the build up of his music. When Zappa was in this phase of
invention he and his father we re always exposed to chemicals that may have affected his health, the

Frank Zappa grew up with Christian parents in a family with Christian ways, as a child he had to
go to church and as he grew older Zappa s opinion grew about his look on Christianity. Frank
Zappa began to look more into the Christian religion and was almost disgusted and disappointed
by everything he learned. Frank Zappa was so into reading, he would read as much as he could
whenever he can and even has a famous quote saying, If you want to get laid, go to college. If
you want an education, go to a library. But as I was saying he looked into Christianity and didn t
agree with it, he didn t like it. He soon named himself as an atheist, because he had his freedom
of opinion and that is what he thought. Though, Zappa did have kind things to say about
religion and Christianity and it is even shown in his music but his hate for the Christian religion
rooted off from the belief on how religion is anti intellectual and it promotes ignorance. Frank
Zappa is not a fan of religious leaders either, he doesn t agree with the wealth they gain from the
collections of their followers and doesn t agree with those who use religion to influence political
change. Frank Zappa didn t care for religion but he was inspired by so many things and led him to
belief of things such as freedom of speech, political participation and also the abolition of
censorship, he

Reflection On Millard High School Senior Class President
Throughout high school I was involved in many different clubs. When senior year came around I
was elected to represent Millard High School as their senior class president. The student body
president and I got together and decided that we needed to end our high school career with a bang,
so we came up with the idea to light up the hillside M in order for Millard to show their spirit
throughout the valley not only during the day but also at night! We decided that the students could
light it up every homecoming and keep it lit through the schoolyear. I like to think of this as my own
little piece of history making. This was our goal and we were willing to work as hard as we could
to make it happen. This project was in no way easy; the lights

Marijuana Is Safer Than Alcohol
Marijuana should be legalized for recreational purposes to anyone over 21 years of age. Jason
Anderson COM/156 MARCH 2, 2011 Colleen Vosicky Marijuana should be legalized for
recreational purposes to anyone over 21 years of age. Marijuana has been proven to be safer
than alcohol, yet marijuana is against the law. Alcohol is known to contribute to acts of violence
and crime, while in most cases cannabis can reduce aggression in its users. In last year s cases of
reported violent crime three million offenders had been drinking. Almost all cases of date rape,
sexual assault, and domestic violence had some kind of connection to alcohol (Medical Fact:

If I would have known that it would have led to you really smoking I would have never bought
them (Anderson, 2011). The statement marijuana is a lot safer than alcohol cannot go
unchallenged and should be debated. One important subject is the risk that marijuana use
(especially in young adults) can lead to some kinds of mental illness. Studies support findings
that risk of schizophrenia doubles in young abusers (U.S. National Household Survey on Drug
Abuse, 2009). According to Joseph Califano Jr., CASA founder and chairman of Center on
Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) If we were to make marijuana legal and taxed it, for
approximately every dollar of tax revenue, there could be as much as seven dollars incurred in
medical costs . Legalizing marijuana would mean that it would be easier for the drug to get in
the hands of kids. According to CASA findings Despite reported declines in teen marijuana use
in 2007, almost eleven million teens report using marijuana. Marijuana is a major substance that
is being abused among teens in America. More than five times the increase in such findings for
all other substance abuse. With marijuana becoming so popular again with teens most people
believe that we should keep the drug illegal. Marijuana should be legalized for recreational
purposes to anyone over 21 years of age. Studies have shown that it is safer than alcohol, and is
being use by a wide spread of society. Money from taxation of marijuana can be

The Motif Of Water In The Assault By Harry Mulisch
In Harry Mulisch s novel The Assault, Mulisch expands on the historical event of the murder of
Fake Kirst who was assassinated on the streets of Amsterdam by Grommet Krijger through the life
of Anton Steenwijk following World War Two. Throughout the novel Mulisch takes advantage of
numerous motifs and expands their ability through a longstanding motif of water. He uses these
themes to develop the central characterAnton who works to conquer history and his own past. The
motif of water is a strong decision by Mulisch that broadens the novel s overall depth and meaning .
Within the first episode Mulisch introduces the concept of water as Anton is trapped in a prison
cell as, He opened his eyes wide to see, but the darkness filled them like black ... Show more

Contrasting to other uses of the motif of water, the quote is not a direct action or movement that
Anton does, instead it is a short passage from a monologue that Mulisch has inserted on the
perception of the past and the future. As later in the quote Mulisch presents that one faces the void
and the past is only visible in memory (151). Subsequently Mulisch has tardily ended the ongoing
question of viewing and facing both the past and the present and the importance of understanding
that it is impossible to steer one s own ship into the waves of the future simply due to the waves do

Six Sigma and Project Management
Six Sigma and Project Management
Project Management in Business and Technology, Section 02
Introduction
Sigma is a symbol for a unit of measure which measures how much a process deviates from
perfection. With the increase in demand for quality products/services, several organizations look for
ways to improve their performance to meet customer s expectations. Six Sigma is considered to be
an approach which blends the components of quality management and business process re
engineering. Six Sigma s aim is to increase the efficiency and remove waste, thereby increasing the
customer satisfaction. There are many myths about Six Sigma:
a) It s only concerned with reducing defects
b) It is a process for production
c) It can t be applied to engineering activities
d) It is just a training process
e) It is a new concept
History of Six Sigma
Since 1920 s the term sigma is used by mathematician s measurement unit in product quality
measurement. In mid 1980 s, engineers at Motorola Inc. coined the term Six Sigma which they
used it informally as an in house initiative to increase the quality for reducing the defects in the
production process. Initially the engineers measured the defects in terms of thousands which
gradually increased to defects per million . This prompted the use of Six Sigma technology and
idea of branding Six Sigma. A company is Six Sigma certified if it could limit its flaws up to 3.4
defects per million.
In 1991, Motorola introduced his first

It focuses on how branding has created an impact on the youth when it comes to the choice of
clothing our younger generation are becoming more and more brand conscious. He suggests that
brand conscious is the right choice of clothing. It helps them create an image and an identity for
themselves. Major factor which determining the choice of branded clothes comes from the
influence made by the peer and it helps them a lot in their socialization process. In addition to this,
advertising act as an important factor in communicating and delivering brand values and helps a
company to establish a good brand image in the mind of the public. Endorsement done by celebrity
is another form of advertising which helps in creating a huge impact in the minds of the consumer
for branded garments as they promote certain attributes like image, quality and status. The
researcher recommends that to retain loyalty of youth and to keep them satisfied with the brand,
brand managers have to build and emotional attachment and also make the brand special to have a
long lasting competitive advantage.

The Surrealist Movement During World War One
The Surrealist Movement
World War 1 was a gruesome point in history that led to immense carnage and anguish of millions.
However, on a happier note, this dark time was followed by movements such as Cubism,
Precisionism, and Expressionism. Among these movements existed Surrealism, a movement that
would not have come to be without the influence of the war to end all wars .
During World War 1 at the city of Nantes one would find a man named AndrГ© Breton
(Sandrow). AndrГ© Breton, born in 1896, is regarded as the founder of Surrealism, and the way
his time was spent during the war influenced that outcome. For instance, during his time at Nantes,
he encountered a few people that would leave a lasting impression on him. One of these people
went by the name of Apollinaire, an admired poet dramatist and the precursor to Surrealism. He
pushed Breton away from pessimism towards investigating the philosophical relationship between
poetry and painting. In fact, the word surrealism was first coined by Apollinaire in his play Les
Mamelles de TirГ©sias (Magill 448).
AndrГ© Breton served as a doctor during the war. More specifically, he worked in the
Neuropsychiatric ward. He dealt with with the shell shocked and the deranged. From the constant
contact with these soldiers who begot strange and bizarre images, a sort of fascination was ... Show

Flag of Somalia. The flag of Somalia officially adopted on October 12 1954 the blue field is the
same shade used by united nation light blue with a large white five pointed star in the center; the
blue field was originally influenced by the flag. the five points of the star represent the five regions
in the horn of Africa that are inhabited by Somali people: the former British Somaliland and Italian
Somaliland (which together make up Somalia), Djibouti, Ogaden (Ethiopia), and the North East

The blue base originates from the flag of the United Nations and it represents the blue sky over
Somalia and the UN, who helped the country realize its dream of independence. The white star
represents African freedom. The star s individual points represent the five historical regions

The Precarious Relationship between the United States and...
In the 1940 s the United States brought on wave of globalization that ravaged Western Europe.
Fast forward to 1979, and the United States is taking advantage of the fear drummed up by the
Iranian Revolution in order to secure its influence in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia since then has
seen a rise in chronic illness that can be directly tied back to the presence of the United Statesin this
area. After 1979 there was a significant spike in diabetes in Saudi Arabia; it can be argued that
increased American influence within the Kingdom is directly responsible for this rise in
diabetes. Saudi Arabia s fear after the fall of Iran in 1979 is two fold. In the South Eastern part
of the country there was a large Shia population that they feared would take up arms against the
current regime. In addition, Saudi Arabia had no military, while Iran had a huge force. From
looking at a map, it is evident that Iran and Saudi Arabia are only separated by a few miles. This
is one of the major reasons that Saudi Arabia bought the access to nuclear weapons from Pakistan;
they would look like more of a threat to Iran. Added U.S. presence brought with it culture that
would penetrate the native culture and become intertwined with it. US intervention in Saudi Arabia
is crucial in the rise of fast food and the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes and
obesity there. The fast food culture of United States can be linked to the increasing industrialization
of food1. This change

Health Care And International Relations
Quebec historically has had a different perspective about social policy such as health care and
international relations. The different goals are a result of different origins and different needs from
international relations. This historical distinction is one of many which keeps Quebec distinct to
this very day from the rest of Canada.
There has been many different kinds of health care in Canada. Quebec s health care was a system
operated by the church. The government of Lower Canada operated separately to this as people of
Quebec preferred church run healthcare. This role was further solidified as a church operation
when Confederation gave jurisdiction over health care to the provinces. This is evident of the fact
that there were differences in health care policies before 1867.
In the 20th century there was many different attempts at ridding Quebec of its distinct health care
structure that further highlighted the differences. In 1940 for example there was a commission
interested in stating federal spending powers and how they could centralise health care. This
suggestion was not taken well by the government of Quebec or the church. Furthermore, the
Hospital and Diagnostic Services Act 1957 was another attempt at creating symmetry amongst the
provinces. The federal government created conditions for the provinces to adhere to if they wanted
money. This was widely accepted in other provinces but Quebec withheld from this. Duplessis and
the UN s rejection of this state

Dances With Wolves Stereotypes
Overcoming Stereotypes in the Movie, Dances With Wolves
Everyone has a preconceived opinion of how a certain ethnic group is in terms of the way they
live, the morals they hold, the way they deal with people different from them, and how they deal
with one another. We come to these conclusions by what we have seen in the media, heardfrom
other people, or actually experienced ourselves. Most people would consider these opinions to be
stereotypes. Dances with Wolves is a motion picture that deals with and touches on all sides of
personal stereotypes we as American and American Indianshave about each other. John Dunbar

He also came across intimidated by John because of his courage through this miserable time. He
saw Dunbar as someone he could never be and he didn t see his life worth living anymore.
Going into the movie we did not really get a strong sense of how Dunbar thought of the Indians.
While he was journeying out to the frontier Dunbar asked Timmons, a man that was taking him
there, what he thought about Indians. With no hesitation at all Timmons stated that they were all
thieves, murderers, and savages. Dunbar didn t ever state what he thought of the Indians. I got the
impression that he really did not have an opinion about them because he has never dealt with them.
He seemed like the type of guy that would not assume something without experiencing it for
himself. Everyone he talked to about Indians probably said the same things Timmons did, but for
some reason Dunbar was different from the rest. He seemed to be better than that.
The Indians are finally presented in the movie by the screen scanning across a wide open desert
very peaceful and deserted. In the middle of all this silence the camera fell upon a skeleton of a
human that we assume the Indians killed. This is how the movie sets the tone for how we are going
to think about the Indians. They play with the stereotype that all us Americans think are true about
the Indians. At first we think that we were right, but the story does not end there.
The first encounter that Dunbar has with the Indians is when

Speaking from a liberal point of understanding, the development of international institutions is very
vital. Most powerful states have relied on international institutions and economic interdependence.
I believe this because international institutions are one of the most important efforts for the
achievement of world peace and possibly stop North Koreans leader from making terrorist threats.
International institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve
disputes. Also, the economic interdependence has been a huge key factor in the cooperation and
peace of those States. Many of the states that are considered speaking upon the North Koreas
dangerous efforts against them are States that have been trading goods for decades. They are all
relying on each other for something because each cannot produce efficiently for themselves. We
are worried. If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong, A nuclear war is totally unacceptable to
everybody (Duterte). Creating a stronger international institution to set standards of behavior,

Healthcare System in Great Britain
Health Care System in Great Britain
Organization of health care in Great Britain
Health care in the United Kingdom is devolved depending states: other states like Scotland and
Northern Ireland are separate entities and do not form part of the UK medical healthcare system.
The states have their own private and public sectors of health care to the people. Devolution
stretches to every activity that is concerned with delivering of health care facilities and personalities
required that serve the citizens. The model of offering health care among the citizens of the United
Kingdom is different from those of other states like Wales and Scotland. Moreover, the policies and
strategies of health care are different between the United Kingdom and other states.
Great Britain stands on its own as a separate entity that ensures the citizens of the federal
government have accessed equitable health care services. The payments of the health care services
offered by the states go all the citizens is catered for by the general taxation body within the
federal government. Every state has a private health care centre that is smaller than the public
health care sector. The private health care provisions are provided by the private sector through
direct funding by the patient or through taxation accruals in cases where the patient suffers
complicated cases like AIDS/HIV (Dewar, 2010).
The United Kingdom was ranked as the fifth best in the world by the world health organization. This

Johnson character could have been looking for happiness in his job, in his own personal life, or in
his marriage. However, the only true happiness seeking action we see him do is chase his wife
around the kitchen. I also thought there was a lot going on in the play at that at times it was
hard to follow. I felt that there was just a lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made,
which took away from the actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the
couples were supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting
over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those
scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were

originally thought that it was a new day because at the end of the smith scene they were ordering
dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the

wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the two couples
simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half the time I

No, no. He lifted his eyes from the contraption and gave me a worried look. It was very real.
Real? Twist s eyebrows quivered.
Come on. I grabbed his wrist and dragged him up the stairs. You wanted to show us something,

Oh, right, he groaned.
We tiptoed down the dark hall and into the secret room. The casket was gone. Twist pointed to a

Seth s eyes got wide. Where did that come from?
It was here the entire time. We just didn t see it before because it was covered with a rug and dust.

of the walls. Come on.
The steps trembled as we climbed down.

against the darkened shaft. The tunnel was filled with a bunch of creepy junk: a Samurai sword

Malware Problem Analysis Paper
Problem
Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that
is covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive
programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s
data, applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any
type of internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of
both small and big businesses.
Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These
terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malwarewill affect all
three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company s revenue but will
potentially also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech
Solutions, considered to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks

Basophil Activation Test Paper
Basophil Activation Test (BAT) Basophils comprise 1 % of the circulating white blood cells, and
they constitute a substrate for an important in vitro assay. Basophils express the high affinity IgE
receptor and secrete cytokines and inflammatory mediators upon stimulation. Early studies of the
role of basophils in allergic disease focused on the release of mediators, such as histamine and
leukotrienes. The development of a flow cytometry based functional basophil assay became
possible in 1991, when Knol et al. demonstrated that a surface marker, CD63, is up regulated on
basophils at the same time as basophil degranulation (Knol et al.,1991). Principle of BAT Basophils

However, IgE surface levels exhibit considerable variation between individuals. The search for
new identification markers has resulted in many potential candidate markers: CCR3, CRTH2,
CD203c, and CD123 (Hausmann et al.,2011). CCR3, or eotaxin CC chemokine receptor 3, is
expressed on basophils, mast cells, and Th2 lymphocytes. This marker is the basis of the
commercial Flow2 CAST assay, in contrast to Flow CAST, which identifies basophils based on
IgE (Eberlein et al.,2011). CRTH2 is also expressed on basophils, eosinophils, and Th2
lymphocytes. Basophils can be further identified within this subset on the basis of side scatter
(to differentiate from eosinophils) and the secondary marker, CD3 (to differentiate from T cells
(Monneret,2008).CD123, a subunit of the IL 3 receptor, is highly expressed on basophils and
plasmacytoid dendritic cells in the peripheral blood. In comparing approaches to identify
basophils based on the markers CD123, CCR3 or IgE, CD123 was found to have similar
expression levels to CCR3 and superior to that of IgE. However, the variability of CD123
expression was significantly larger than that of CCR3, which led the authors to conclude that CCR3
is a superior basophil identification marker (Hausmann et

According to McEachern (2009) investment is assumed to be autonomous with respect to
disposable income. In a particular year shows little relation to income that year. It depends more on
interest rates and on business expectations than on the prevailing income level. One reason
investment is less related to income. The decision is said to be forward looking, base more on

Why I Am I At The University Of Iowa
Introduction
Who is Chad Richmond? Why am I in the field of student affairs? Why am I at the University of
Iowa? These are questions that I have to ask myself everyday and I typically answers them a
different way every time. It has been a long journey for me to get where I am today and this
paper will discuss those aspects that have both helped and even hindered my path at times. Many
different people, events, goals and problems have helped shaped who I am today, but they are all
important to who I am today. I can be generically labeled relatively easily but those labels don t
always tell the really story. I am a son, brother, uncle, student, collegegraduate, educator,
employee and friend. I am also someone who thought college was out of reach and never would
guessed I would be in graduate school now. I am also very competitive and strive to excel in
everything including both inside and outside of the classroom. My journey to graduate school will
be discussed below and hopefully show how I ended up at the University of Iowa.
The Path to Graduate School As stated above, I didn t always think that college was in my
future after high school. I was a wrestler for most of my life and I thought the only way that I
was going to college was to receive a scholarship for athletics. My senior year I was being
recruited to wrestle at four Big Ten universities and thought it was my ticket to college. During a
practice at the end of the season, I was wrestling and tore my meniscus

Inside Out, And Its Director Pete Docter
Do you ever look at someone and wonder, What is going on inside their head? This is the first
question asked in animated film, Inside Out, and its director Pete Docter s mind after noticing
his daughter s personality changing as she grew up. Using his daughter as inspiration, Pete
Docter pitched the idea to Pixar studios where it was picked up immediately for production in
2009. He consulted with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old
girl, Riley Anderson, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to
guide her through. Because Pixar s movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color
and creative mise en scene to tell the elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her,
and other character s personality traits. The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the
fact that the film is an animation, having full control of the character s design, setting, lighting,
effects, and anything in between. It displays all throughout the movie, causing a great contrast,
when shifting from a character s mind to their environment, mainly being Riley. Through a series
of montages and flashbacks of Minnesota, the audience can see that the scenes are always lighted
in pastel like color, This is to represent Riley s comfort of her former home in contrast of San
Francisco which is depicted in desaturated colors. Furthermore, the animator s choice of color and
lighting for both Minnesota and San Francisco

Six Thinking Hats is a flexible and easy to use thinking process that leads to amazing results with
innovative thinking, improved communication, and reduced meeting time.
In traditional thinking we constantly find ourselves in conflict. Each side seeks to criticize the
other point of view. The Six Thinking Hatsmethod, however, encourages Parallel Thinking, where
everyone explores all sides of an issue at the same time.

Charles Dickens Defining Moments Essay
As individuals mature, they often have defining moments that distinguish the transition from child
to adult. Defining moments often come at major crossroads, where individuals make one decision,
during a situation with unencountered gravity and urgency. In the 19th century novel, Great
Expectations, Charles Dickens describes the importance of defining moments and how they provide
a transition into adulthood. Dickens urges society to always endure through conflicting moments
and to knowingly make sacrifices in the name of progress. If individuals embrace their conflicting
experiences, they can become defining moments of great consequence. The diorama presented
describes the importance of defining moments and their inherent difficulties, and... Show more

The boat chained to the dock represents the decision Pip must make, and how maturation
requires sacrifice. The three chains describes each of Pip s three stages of growth, and how the
defining moment leaves behind all previous growth to experience and undertake an unknown
challenge. In order to leave complacency, Dickens stresses a need to break the chains that bind
individuals to their perceived safe havens. As a result, the decisions that make up defining
moments never come without dispositional struggle: We had all shaken hands cordially, and
neither Herbert s eyes not mine were quite dry... (444). By describing Pip s begging and the
territoriality of Pip towards his comrades, Dickens shows the internal conflicts of defining
moments. The paths show a trail to both the inn and an unknown path on the other direction,
showing Pips ability to leave behind his endeavours and escape to the lifestyle he knows.
Nevertheless, Pip perseveres, just as Dickens encourages society to endure hardships in pursuit
of a greater purpose. Despite the sense of place that develops through complacency, Dickens
urges growth and change rather than satiation. Dickens recalls the effects of such defining
moments by describing Pip as an adult, now mature and aware of his place in society: I work
pretty hard for a sufficient living, and therefore Yes, I do well (491). Due to the importance of such
decisions, Dickens urges individuals to not fear sacrificing comforts in order to best promote

after year my mom took this verbal beating from my teachers saying she should be doing more ,
there s something wrong with me all my teachers suggested my mom get me tested for ADD and

Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process
Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process beginning with the
arrest of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or after a trial. The criminal procedure is
based on the constitutional laws, statues, and court rulings that are meant to render justice in a
criminal case. The government must follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case.
Beginning with the initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest,
jailing, arraignment, and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the law and
protect an individual s right to the 4th amendment of the constitution, police officers are allowed
to conduct investigations, perform search and seizures, and arrest individuals that are suspected
of a crime. Police officers do not need justification to stop someone and question them, but in
order to search an individual a police officer must have probable cause. In order to make an
arrest, the officer must either observe an individual committing a crime, have probable cause that
a crime has been committed by that person, or have a valid arrest warrant. There is no scale to
measure what probable cause is, so at the time of arrest, this is completely at the officer s
discretion. This can cause officers to subdue the wrong individuals or make faulty decisions. Judges
have the final say on what constitutes probable cause, and police officers must be able to ultimately
justify their

Hello Professor Brown, You asked me to respond to the following, When you talk about each

which form of care, weather home health care or adult day care, how the service is payed for
depends largely on the services offered. Adult day care is normally payed for out of pocket with
help from government programs like the Veterans Health Administration, the Old American Act,
and Medicaid (Department of Health and Human Services, 2015). The more medically geared the
day care, and the more medical attention the patient needs, the more likely privet insurance,
Medicare and or Medicaid will help with reimbursement (DHHS, 2015). Home health care can be

where once witches and wizards lived freely. However, normal people who aren t magical

determination. However, she can be very stubborn sometimes, and that isn t always a good thing.
One year in the kingdom, a deadly fever broke out. Belle s parents decided to move away to a small
town where Belle would be safe. Rosalind was very reluctant on leaving her people at first. After
all, she was an enchantress so she wouldn t get the fever. She could have stayed and not worried
about her family s health, but she decided to not risk their health and safety. This shows that

Student s Identifying Information: N.E is a ten year old boy who attends 4th grade at North
Bergen Elementary School. N.E is a very intelligent and creative boy that needs extra help to
achieve his academic and social skills. He has little motivation for school achievement, with
problems in independent reading, math and classroom behavior. He demonstrates a poor approach
in working in a group, usually instead of working on assigned task, he talks to somebody when it
is prohibited, playing with his hands or objects, making noises, calling out and looking around. The
student gets easily frustrated and cries when he realizes he is having problems with his schoolwork,
especially, in the subject of mathematics.
II. Strengths of the student: N.E can become an active participant when he is engaging in the
class, his learning process is more about hands on experiences, he performs well when he has the
opportunity to interact with both between teacher and his classmates, for example in games, he
also enjoys the art class and he likes to express himself through his drawings. He seems excited
when he is praised by the teacher. III. Behavioral goals: According to the FBA the behavioral goals

The Life Of Pi As A Spiritual And Uplifting Movie
The Life of Pi was a very spiritual and uplifting movie. The producers did a fantastic job finding
the correct cast and supporting actors. Suraj Sharma, the actor that plays Pi, did a terrific job
both drawing emotions out of the audience, and keeping the wild plot believable. Mr. Sharma
was very convincing as a young man trying to find god. The special effects and computer
generated images were breathtaking. The island scene was specifically done well. They really
make the movie visually interesting and are the glue that holds the movie together, for the
simple fact, eighty percent of this flick takes place on a life boat with a raft attached. The
soundtrack was well constructed, with a slow build up with dramatic crescendos. The score of
this movie really places the viewer inside the movie .Unfortunately, without the effects,
soundtrack, and dramatic imagery, The Life of Pi would be a very dry movie. One problem I had
with The Life of Pi is the overuse of symbolism and metaphors. It seemed as if everything director
Ang Lee put into his filmhad to have three different meanings, and at times, it muddied up the plot
and was confusing. For example, the night scene in which the fish were glowing underwater.
Then a whale jumps out of the ocean nearly capsizing the life boat. I assume that scene had a
deeper meaning but, for the life of me I can t figure out its purpose. The movie was clearly about
religion, survival, and introspection on the human condition.Pi is a very

the following. Business to business relationship, this includes relationship with suppliers,

Another benefit is the increase in customer revenues. CRM helps the company increase its revenue
to a great extent. By using the collected data, the company will be able to popularize marketing
campaigns in an effective way. This software ensures that product promotions reach different and
new set of customers and it will increase company s customer revenue effectively. The third benefit
is that CRM helps the company in maximizing up selling and cross selling. This system gives the
customers premium products which fall in same category of their purchase. It also facilitates cross
selling on the basis of their previous purchases. This is done through interaction with customers and
getting ideas concerning their needs, wants and patterns of their purchase. The obtained details are
stored in a central database that is accessible to all company executives. The executives can promote
their products to the customers when an opportunity is spotted, hence maximizing cross selling and
up selling (Mauri 2003). . The fifth benefit is better internal communication. If this strategy is
followed, it helps in building better communication within the company. Sharing of customer
information between different departments will enable the whole company work as a team hence
enabling better service to the customers and hence an increase in company s profitability. The forth
benefit of CRM is that it optimizes marketing. It

There is no doubt that there is an absolute requirement to confer upon the Parliament certain
powers, immunities and privileges to ensure its independent functioning and also for the
preservation of its prestige and dignity. However, it is also absolutely necessary that such powers
and privileges are made use of in a responsible and diligent manner and in accordance with the
principles of natural justice and the other provisions enshrined under Part III of the Constitution of
India. For the purpose of securing greater clarity and certainty with respect to the provisions
contained under Article 105(3) (and also Article 194(3)), it is necessary that constitutional mandate
contained in the first part of the above provisions be implemented and thereby, the privileges also
be codified. Moreover, it is completely baseless to consider that the codification of the
Parliamentary Privileges would result in the detraction from the prestige and sovereignty of the
Parliament. In fact, if

The Unpreparedness Of Nurses
The article by Sylvia Baack and Danita Alfred attempted in earnest to determine the preparedness of
nurses to manage disaster situations. The research was based on an online study on nurses by
asking them to fill out questionnaires that would then determine how they felt about disaster
situations and how best to handle them (Baack Alfred, 2013). The use of the 620 nurses was
prudent as it provided a significant sample space to handle the possibility of bias. The scope of the
research was however limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given
represented the general feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the
country. Nevertheless, given that no information was sought about where these nurses were trained,
it is arguable that their vocational training could have been distributed among all states in the nation
or fairly among a majority of the states.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, if the persons filling the questionnaires were not the nurses themselves; this would
greatly affect the integrity of the data collected. However, the large scope again makes up for this
weakness since a good number of respondents would give the honest and discrete information
required. The findings indicated that a good number of nurses are not confident with the way they
handle disaster situations. This is a common opinion among health professionals since many nurses
according to Veenema (2012) are often unprepared for emergencies. This is because they do not
anticipate the magnitude of some of the occurrences they experience. The research was thus a
success and indeed proved the hypothesis on nurse preparedness to disaster

In The Depths Of Grief Essay
In the Depths of Grief. The darkness surrounded her; its pressure was oppressive like the depths
of the deep sea. It engulfed her with the forfeiture of life; however it did not rip her soul from her

Skellig Motifs
Through the novel Skellig, motifs such as birds, stone and William Blake s poetry are
introduced to the reader and add a deeper layer to the novel. David Almond uses the motif of
birds often throughout the text, which adds meaning and thought to the story. William Blake is a
skilled poet and shares poems to the world, but when added to the novel it adds purpose. Stone is
another critical motif used in Skellig and is used repeatedly to add depth to the book.
References about birds appear at different sections of the novel and are the main motif in the
novel. Skellig answers a question from Michael What are you? I whispered. He shrugged again.
Something. He said. Something like you, something like a beast, something like a bird, something
like an angel. (PG: 158) Through Skelligs actions and speech, it shows that he doesn t know what
he is. He knows that he has wings like a bird and he can fly and be free, but countering that he
has an appearance like a man. Skellig believes that he can be free and happy like birds are, he

The Gettysburg Address And I Have A Dream Speech Analysis
From comparing these two speeches, The Gettysburg Address, by Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth
president, and the speech, I have a Dream, by King, you find that they had similar visions for
America. In their influential speeches, they both allude to an important event in American history.
Lincoln refers to 87 years, before the civil war, when the forefathers signed the declaration of
independence stating that they are independent from Britain (Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincoln
). King also refers to the past saying, Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic
shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. In which he is talking about the
Emancipation Proclamation when President Lincoln issued it 100 years ago, changing the course
and making the war a fight for the preservation of human freedom. The reader indicates that they
choose to allude back to a historical event because it backed their speeches up with historical
evidence and proof. Furthermore, the themes of these two spectacular discussions are quite
similar. For one, they talk about how there should be equality and no one should be left out.
President Lincoln state s, Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this
continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are
created equal. King stated that he had a dream that his children will be able to live where they won

Causation of Female Gang Involvement Essay
Many years of research have gone into studying why youth turns to gang involvement. A sector of
this population has only recently been a focus of any study at all and that is the female. From the
authors De La Rue, Espelage research they estimate that female gang membership is anywhere
from 10 to 35% of the total gangpopulation (De La Rue, Espelage 2014 pg. 1). There are many
pieces that drive females to join the gang lifestyle. There are three major causes that drive females
to gang involvement; family influences, relationship drives, and prior victimization. Being born

2009. Pg. 278). This shows growing up in a gang the child will associate basically a blood bond
between themselves and their gang because of how much of their family is involved. Risk
factors that deal with a females family is that it can leave her in a vulnerable state because the
men around them take advantage of the females at weaker states. Many of the females who are
in gangs have been the victims of many levels of abuse throughout their life and they believe if
they turn to gangs for additional support. Conflict within families drives females into the grasps
of gangs because the female is looking for a group to protect and provide support for them. From
the authors De La Rue, Espelage: Research specific to female gang members has shown that
family risk factors, including poor parental supervision, and high levels of family conflict, have
been linked to an increased risk of gang involvement... (De La Rue, Espelage 2014 pg.3). This
quote explains how family conflict can lead into a female being at a higher risk of joining a gang.
Conflict with the family can lead a female to want to leave their parents households to be able to
have independence from an abuse or rules. A point from the author Fleisher proves that, Once
independent of her family, a youth needs her peer network more than ever. Depending on network
dynamics, youth can

Tuberculosis ( Tb ) Is Caused By Mycobacterium Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which is an acid fast bacterium. M.
tuberculosis uses the respiratory tract as the principal portal of entry. Tuberculosis is spread from
person to person through microscopic droplets released into the air. This can happen when someone
that has the active form of tuberculosisin the lungs which has not been treated coughs, speaks,
sneezes, spits, laughs, or sings. The majority of active cases result from reactivation of old dormant
infections. Although TB is contagious, it s not that easy to catch.

TB can lead to spinal pain and joint destruction, meningitis, impair the liver and kidney s waste
filtration functions, cause blood in the urine, and can impair the heart s ability to pump blood.
M. tuberculosis enters the respiratory tract where it travels to the lungs deep into the alveoli
and is engulfed by macrophages. One of the major features of M. tuberculosis is its capacity to
block the acidification of the phagosome and consequently to disable phagosome lysosome
fusion in phagocytic cells. After time, the tubercles can change to a cheese like consistency
called caseous lesions. When caseous lesions calcify they are called Ghon complexes which
show up on X ray s. Tubercles can sometimes liquefy and form air filled tuberculosis cavities
which allows the bacteria to spread. This spreading of the bacteria can affect many parts of body
like the bladder, bones, brain, joints, kidneys, lymph nodes, spine, and reproductive organs. Cell
mediated immunity then develops and alerts T cells.
There are two kinds of tests that are used to conclude if a person has been infected with
TB bacteria. These tests are the tuberculin skin test (Mantoux test) and TB blood tests. A positive
TB skin test or TB blood test only tells that a person has been infected with TB bacteria.

Accounting Based On Fair Value
Executive Summary: In October 2004 at their mutual meeting, the IASB and the US FASB chose to
add to personal plans a combined task to create a typical theoretical structure, based on both the
current IASB and the FASB Conceptual Framework, both Boards would use as a premise for their
accounting standards. The process of measurement determines the monetary amounts at which the
elements of the financial statements are to be recorded and carried in the financials book. This

Directly or indirectly, financial reporting measurements of performance and financial position
affect almost everyone. They help to determine whether a business is regarded as a failure or a
success, whether its employees earn a bonus, whether they keep their jobs, what dividends
investors receive, and how much tax the business pays. In the context of measurement, the
aspiration expressed by Sir David Tweedie, the Chairman of the IASB, is an appealing one: The
real objective is to have one single set of accounting standards, so it doesn t matter whether a
transaction takes place in any part of the world, we ll account for it the same way. The significant
role of Measurement First and foremost, this Report shall provide a general background on the
issue of Measurement. Theorists have indicated the definition of measurement, and in the case of
Campbell, Measurement is: The assignment of numerals to represent properties of material systems
other than numbers, while Stevens suggests that it is: The assignment of numerals to objects or
events according to rules. (Stevens, 1946) Generally, most theorists agree upon the definition of
Measurement as the linking of formal number system to some properties, or objects and events
under a chain of semantic rules. In the case of Accounting, these rules are indicated by transactions.
In other words, Accounting is recorded on the

Technology And Self-Driving Technology
In today s age, the use and advancement of technology is rising at an exponential rate. What used to
be thought as impossible can now be seen as tomorrow s norm. However, some are raising concerns
that such technology is advancing too fast, faster than humans as a society can adapt. Because of
that, the theory that automation has more detriments than benefits on society is more prominent
than ever. This of course, is true. Employers are ditching humanworkers for a number of reasons,
including cost efficiency, work efficiency, and profit margins. However, does automation impart
more negatives than positives on the U.S.? Unfortunately, the short term result of automation is
the immediate displacement of low skill jobs. In David Trilling s study published on the peer
reviewed Journalist s Resource, it is estimated that Over the next 15 years, 2 to 3 million Americans
who drive for a living truckers, bus drivers and cabbies will be replaced by self driving vehicles,
according to a December 2016White House report on the ascent of artificial intelligence (AI) (1).
The most recent advancement of technologyis already having effects on today s society. Self
driving technology has shown to be advanced enough to displace those who work as drivers, as
they provide a number of benefits, including: efficiency, work conduct, and cost. A one time cost
of the self driving vehicle does not need to be paid a wage a with human drivers, and the AI does

His father was a mathematician and a chemist which cause the family to always be moving into new homes frequently, Zappa was all over the place as a child. Frank Zappa grew up with Christian parents in a family with Christian ways, as a child he had to go to church and as he grew older Zappa s opinion grew about his look on Christianity. Frank Zappa began to look more into the Christian religion and was almost disgusted and disappointed by everything he learned. Frank Zappa was so into reading, he would read as much as he could whenever he can and even has a famous quote saying, If you want to get laid, go to college. If you want an education, go to a library. But as I was saying he looked into Christianity and didn t agree with it, he didn t like it. He soon named himself as an atheist, because he had his freedom of opinion and that is what he thought. Though, Zappa did have kind things to say about religion and Christianity and it is even shown in his music but his hate for the Christian religion rooted off from the belief on how religion is anti intellectual and it promotes ignorance. Frank Zappa is not a fan of religious leaders either, he doesn t agree with the wealth they gain from the collections of their followers and doesn t agree with those who use religion to influence political change. Frank Zappa didn t care for religion but he was inspired by so many things and led him to belief of things such as freedom of speech, political participation and also the abolition of censorship, he ... When senior year came around I was elected to represent Millard High School as their senior class president. The student body president and I got together and decided that we needed to end our high school career with a bang, so we came up with the idea to light up the hillside M in order for Millard to show their spirit throughout the valley not only during the day but also at night! We decided that the students could light it up every homecoming and keep it lit through the schoolyear. I like to think of this as my own little piece of history making. This was our goal and we were willing to work as hard as we could to make it happen. This project was in no way easy; the lights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jason Anderson COM/156 MARCH 2, 2011 Colleen Vosicky Marijuana should be legalized for recreational purposes to anyone over 21 years of age. Marijuana has been proven to be safer than alcohol, yet marijuana is against the law. Alcohol is known to contribute to acts of violence and crime, while in most cases cannabis can reduce aggression in its users. In last year s cases of reported violent crime three million offenders had been drinking. Almost all cases of date rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence had some kind of connection to alcohol (Medical Fact: Marijuana is Safer Than Alcohol, 2009). The statement marijuana is a lot safer than alcohol cannot go unchallenged and should be debated. One important subject is the risk that marijuana use (especially in young adults) can lead to some kinds of mental illness. Studies support findings that risk of schizophrenia doubles in young abusers (U.S. National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, 2009). According to Joseph Califano Jr., CASA founder and chairman of Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) If we were to make marijuana legal and taxed it, for approximately every dollar of tax revenue, there could be as much as seven dollars incurred in medical costs . Legalizing marijuana would mean that it would be easier for the drug to get in the hands of kids. According to CASA findings Despite reported declines in teen marijuana use in 2007, almost eleven million teens report using marijuana. Marijuana is a major substance that is being abused among teens in America. More than five times the increase in such findings for all other substance abuse. With marijuana becoming so popular again with teens most people believe that we should keep the drug illegal. Marijuana should be legalized for recreational purposes to anyone over 21 years of age. Studies have shown that it is safer than alcohol, and is being use by a wide spread of society. Money from taxation of marijuana can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Motif Of Water In The Assault By Harry Mulisch In Harry Mulisch s novel The Assault, Mulisch expands on the historical event of the murder of Fake Kirst who was assassinated on the streets of Amsterdam by Grommet Krijger through the life of Anton Steenwijk following World War Two. Throughout the novel Mulisch takes advantage of numerous motifs and expands their ability through a longstanding motif of water. He uses these themes to develop the central characterAnton who works to conquer history and his own past. The motif of water is a strong decision by Mulisch that broadens the novel s overall depth and meaning . However, on a happier note, this dark time was followed by movements such as Cubism, Precisionism, and Expressionism. Among these movements existed Surrealism, a movement that would not have come to be without the influence of the war to end all wars . During World War 1 at the city of Nantes one would find a man named AndrГ© Breton (Sandrow). AndrГ© Breton, born in 1896, is regarded as the founder of Surrealism, and the way his time was spent during the war influenced that outcome. For instance, during his time at Nantes, he encountered a few people that would leave a lasting impression on him. One of these people went by the name of Apollinaire, an admired poet dramatist and the precursor to Surrealism. He pushed Breton away from pessimism towards investigating the philosophical relationship between poetry and painting. In fact, the word surrealism was first coined by Apollinaire in his play Les Mamelles de TirГ©sias (Magill 448). AndrГ© Breton served as a doctor during the war. • 12. The Precarious Relationship between the United States and... In the 1940 s the United States brought on wave of globalization that ravaged Western Europe. Fast forward to 1979, and the United States is taking advantage of the fear drummed up by the Iranian Revolution in order to secure its influence in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia since then has seen a rise in chronic illness that can be directly tied back to the presence of the United Statesin this area. After 1979 there was a significant spike in diabetes in Saudi Arabia; it can be argued that increased American influence within the Kingdom is directly responsible for this rise in diabetes. Saudi Arabia s fear after the fall of Iran in 1979 is two fold. In the South Eastern part of the country there was a large Shia population that they feared would take up arms against the current regime. In addition, Saudi Arabia had no military, while Iran had a huge force. From looking at a map, it is evident that Iran and Saudi Arabia are only separated by a few miles. This is one of the major reasons that Saudi Arabia bought the access to nuclear weapons from Pakistan; they would look like more of a threat to Iran. Added U.S. presence brought with it culture that would penetrate the native culture and become intertwined with it. US intervention in Saudi Arabia is crucial in the rise of fast food and the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity there. The fast food culture of United States can be linked to the increasing industrialization of food1. This change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Health Care And International Relations Quebec historically has had a different perspective about social policy such as health care and international relations. The different goals are a result of different origins and different needs from international relations. This historical distinction is one of many which keeps Quebec distinct to this very day from the rest of Canada. There has been many different kinds of health care in Canada. Quebec s health care was a system operated by the church. The government of Lower Canada operated separately to this as people of Quebec preferred church run healthcare. This role was further solidified as a church operation when Confederation gave jurisdiction over health care to the provinces. This is evident of the fact that there were differences in health care policies before 1867. In the 20th century there was many different attempts at ridding Quebec of its distinct health care structure that further highlighted the differences. In 1940 for example there was a commission interested in stating federal spending powers and how they could centralise health care. This suggestion was not taken well by the government of Quebec or the church. Furthermore, the Hospital and Diagnostic Services Act 1957 was another attempt at creating symmetry amongst the provinces. The federal government created conditions for the provinces to adhere to if they wanted money. This was widely accepted in other provinces but Quebec withheld from this. While he was journeying out to the frontier Dunbar asked Timmons, a man that was taking him there, what he thought about Indians. With no hesitation at all Timmons stated that they were all thieves, murderers, and savages. Dunbar didn t ever state what he thought of the Indians. I got the impression that he really did not have an opinion about them because he has never dealt with them. He seemed like the type of guy that would not assume something without experiencing it for himself. Everyone he talked to about Indians probably said the same things Timmons did, but for some reason Dunbar was different from the rest. He seemed to be better than that. The Indians are finally presented in the movie by the screen scanning across a wide open desert very peaceful and deserted. In the middle of all this silence the camera fell upon a skeleton of a human that we assume the Indians killed. This is how the movie sets the tone for how we are going to think about the Indians. International institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve disputes. Healthcare System in Great Britain Health Care System in Great Britain Organization of health care in Great Britain Health care in the United Kingdom is devolved depending states: other states like Scotland and Northern Ireland are separate entities and do not form part of the UK medical healthcare system. The states have their own private and public sectors of health care to the people. Devolution stretches to every activity that is concerned with delivering of health care facilities and personalities required that serve the citizens. The model of offering health care among the citizens of the United Kingdom is different from those of other states like Wales and Scotland. Moreover, the policies and strategies of health care are different between the United Kingdom and other states. The payments of the health care services offered by the states go all the citizens is catered for by the general taxation body within the federal government. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were taking the breaks in between the argument. When the Johnson s switched to the stage, I originally thought that it was a new day because at the end of the smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the salmon until I realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a different house. Again I wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the two couples simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half the time I didn t really know what was going on or that I missed something. For example when Mrs. Johnson was so appalled that Mr. Johnson had gotten out of bed ... Malware Problem Analysis Paper Problem Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that is covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s data, applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any type of internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of both small and big businesses. Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. • 22. Basophil Activation Test Paper Basophil Activation Test (BAT) Basophils comprise 1 % of the circulating white blood cells, and they constitute a substrate for an important in vitro assay. Basophils express the high affinity IgE receptor and secrete cytokines and inflammatory mediators upon stimulation. Early studies of the role of basophils in allergic disease focused on the release of mediators, such as histamine and leukotrienes. The development of a flow cytometry based functional basophil assay became possible in 1991, when Knol et al. demonstrated that a surface marker, CD63, is up regulated on basophils at the same time as basophil degranulation (Knol et al.,1991). Principle of BAT Basophils exhibit secretory granules containing histamine and they secrete cytokines,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, IgE surface levels exhibit considerable variation between individuals. The search for new identification markers has resulted in many potential candidate markers: CCR3, CRTH2, CD203c, and CD123 (Hausmann et al.,2011). CCR3, or eotaxin CC chemokine receptor 3, is expressed on basophils, mast cells, and Th2 lymphocytes. This marker is the basis of the commercial Flow2 CAST assay, in contrast to Flow CAST, which identifies basophils based on IgE (Eberlein et al.,2011). CRTH2 is also expressed on basophils, eosinophils, and Th2 lymphocytes. Basophils can be further identified within this subset on the basis of side scatter (to differentiate from eosinophils) and the secondary marker, CD3 (to differentiate from T cells (Monneret,2008).CD123, a subunit of the IL 3 receptor, is highly expressed on basophils and plasmacytoid dendritic cells in the peripheral blood. In comparing approaches to identify basophils based on the markers CD123, CCR3 or IgE, CD123 was found to have similar expression levels to CCR3 and superior to that of IgE. However, the variability of CD123 expression was significantly larger than that of CCR3, which led the authors to conclude that CCR3 is a superior basophil identification marker (Hausmann et ... This is the first question asked in animated film, Inside Out, and its director Pete Docter s mind after noticing his daughter s personality changing as she grew up. Using his daughter as inspiration, Pete Docter pitched the idea to Pixar studios where it was picked up immediately for production in 2009. He consulted with numerous child psychologists to create the movie about 11 year old girl, Riley Anderson, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco and her personified emotions to guide her through. Because Pixar s movies are family friendly, the film s crew cleverly used color and creative mise en scene to tell the elaborate story between Riley s mind, the world around her, and other character s personality traits. The director has an extremely flexible medium due to the fact that the film is an animation, having full control of the character s design, setting, lighting, effects, and anything in between. It displays all throughout the movie, causing a great contrast, when shifting from a character s mind to their environment, mainly being Riley. Through a series of montages and flashbacks of Minnesota, the audience can see that the scenes are always lighted in pastel like color, This is to represent Riley s comfort of her former home in contrast of San Francisco which is depicted in desaturated colors. Defining moments often come at major crossroads, where individuals make one decision, during a situation with unencountered gravity and urgency. In the 19th century novel, Great Expectations, Charles Dickens describes the importance of defining moments and how they provide a transition into adulthood. The boat chained to the dock represents the decision Pip must make, and how maturation requires sacrifice. The three chains describes each of Pip s three stages of growth, and how the defining moment leaves behind all previous growth to experience and undertake an unknown challenge. In order to leave complacency, Dickens stresses a need to break the chains that bind individuals to their perceived safe havens. As a result, the decisions that make up defining moments never come without dispositional struggle: We had all shaken hands cordially, and neither Herbert s eyes not mine were quite dry... (444). By describing Pip s begging and the territoriality of Pip towards his comrades, Dickens shows the internal conflicts of defining moments. The paths show a trail to both the inn and an unknown path on the other direction, showing Pips ability to leave behind his endeavours and escape to the lifestyle he knows. Nevertheless, Pip perseveres, just as Dickens encourages society to endure hardships in pursuit of a greater purpose. Despite the sense of place that develops through complacency, Dickens urges growth and change rather than satiation. Dickens recalls the effects of such defining moments by describing Pip as an adult, now mature and aware of his place in society: I work pretty hard for a sufficient living, and therefore Yes, I do well (491). • 34. Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process beginning with the arrest of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or after a trial. The criminal procedure is based on the constitutional laws, statues, and court rulings that are meant to render justice in a criminal case. The government must follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case. Beginning with the initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest, jailing, arraignment, and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the law and protect an individual s right to the 4th amendment of the constitution, police officers are allowed to conduct investigations, perform search and seizures, and arrest individuals that are suspected of a crime. Police officers do not need justification to stop someone and question them, but in order to search an individual a police officer must have probable cause. In order to make an arrest, the officer must either observe an individual committing a crime, have probable cause that a crime has been committed by that person, or have a valid arrest warrant. There is no scale to measure what probable cause is, so at the time of arrest, this is completely at the officer s discretion. This can cause officers to subdue the wrong individuals or make faulty decisions. • 40. The Life Of Pi As A Spiritual And Uplifting Movie The Life of Pi was a very spiritual and uplifting movie. The producers did a fantastic job finding the correct cast and supporting actors. Suraj Sharma, the actor that plays Pi, did a terrific job both drawing emotions out of the audience, and keeping the wild plot believable. Mr. Sharma was very convincing as a young man trying to find god. The special effects and computer generated images were breathtaking. The island scene was specifically done well. They really make the movie visually interesting and are the glue that holds the movie together, for the simple fact, eighty percent of this flick takes place on a life boat with a raft attached. The soundtrack was well constructed, with a slow build up with dramatic crescendos. The score of this movie really places the viewer inside the movie .Unfortunately, without the effects, soundtrack, and dramatic imagery, The Life of Pi would be a very dry movie. One problem I had with The Life of Pi is the overuse of symbolism and metaphors. It seemed as if everything director Ang Lee put into his filmhad to have three different meanings, and at times, it muddied up the plot and was confusing. For example, the night scene in which the fish were glowing underwater. Then a whale jumps out of the ocean nearly capsizing the life boat. I assume that scene had a deeper meaning but, for the life of me I can t figure out its purpose. The movie was clearly about religion, survival, and introspection on the human condition.Pi is a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Unpreparedness Of Nurses The article by Sylvia Baack and Danita Alfred attempted in earnest to determine the preparedness of nurses to manage disaster situations. The research was based on an online study on nurses by asking them to fill out questionnaires that would then determine how they felt about disaster situations and how best to handle them (Baack Alfred, 2013). The use of the 620 nurses was prudent as it provided a significant sample space to handle the possibility of bias. The scope of the research was however limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given represented the general feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the country. Nevertheless, given that no information was sought about where these nurses were trained, it is arguable that their vocational training could have been distributed among all states in the nation or fairly among a majority of the states.... However, the large scope again makes up for this weakness since a good number of respondents would give the honest and discrete information required. This is a common opinion among health professionals since many nurses according to Veenema (2012) are often unprepared for emergencies. This is because they do not anticipate the magnitude of some of the occurrences they experience. The research was thus a success and indeed proved the hypothesis on nurse preparedness to disaster ... One of the major features of M. tuberculosis is its capacity to block the acidification of the phagosome and consequently to disable phagosome lysosome fusion in phagocytic cells. After time, the tubercles can change to a cheese like consistency called caseous lesions. When caseous lesions calcify they are called Ghon complexes which show up on X ray s. Tubercles can sometimes liquefy and form air filled tuberculosis cavities which allows the bacteria to spread. This spreading of the bacteria can affect many parts of body like the bladder, bones, brain, joints, kidneys, lymph nodes, spine, and reproductive organs.
