Persuasive Essay On Dreamers
There are 800,000 undocumented immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
(DACA) passed by President Obama. Those persons known as Dreamers were brought illegally to the
United States at a young age by their parents. Now they have pursued careers, started families, they
have contributed to the United States of America, our country, their country. But on Tuesday,
September 5th, 2017, the former president Donald Trump ended this program, leaving thousands of
families with the uncertainty that if they will be back together again or not. Dreamers have brought
pride to this country, they have been admitted into the best universities, they have received the best
scholarships such as Bill Gates scholarship. DACA s deadline is October 5th; this is the last
opportunity for the Dreamers to continue with their right to pursue their education. Dreamers have to
stay in the United States and be legal citizens because they have spent their whole life here, they help
the U.S. economy, they bring cultural diversity to the country, the Dreamers as their name states want
to achieve the American dream by pursuing a better education. First, while dreamers were not born
here, they cannot go back to their origin country. Here is why. Most dreamers Only speak English
since they have attended school in the US at a young age. The United States is their home; they have
been living in the here country their whole life, they love this country as much as the legal citizens.

Native American Pipe Ceremony Essay
The Pipe Ceremony is used for many different rituals and is used throughout many different tribes.
Most of the rituals pertain to the Native American s spiritual beliefs/religion, although some are for
other purposes. The Pipe Ceremony is of great importance to the Native American culture and the
pipes used are considered to be sacred items. Every aspect of the ceremony down to the way the pipe
itself is designed hold significance for these cultures. There are different pipes for different
ceremonies. The pipes also may be called by different names throughout the different tribes. The
substance used in the pipe is dependent upon the type of ceremony for which it is being used. One
needs to understand some of the basic religious beliefs of the Native American culture in order to
understand some of the references made in a pipe ceremony with their ritual actions. Native American
spirituality was born out of what they considered their agreement with god, which they refer to as the
Great Spirit or the Creator. Native Americans believe that the Creator gave them the land; this places
great importance upon the land and all things from it or on it such as plants, animals, and other things.

The pipe ceremony itself is considered a sacred ritual and is believed to act as a portal that will
connect the two different worlds of those involved in the ceremony. According to White Deer of
Autumn, Nothing is more sacred. The pipe is our prayers in physical form . The Pipe Ceremony
begins in the same manner with every tribe. The pipe is assembled while being held in a specific hand

Creator and brings about the bond between the two worlds which is not to be broken. Tobacco is then

Say Yes Essay
The Effects of Symbols On Say Yes The author of the short story Say Yes, Tobias Wolff, uses a
number of symbols to express his different views on racism throughout the story. Wolff uses this
literary device to express a message to his readers. Symbols, something representing something else
by association resemblance or convention, are used efficiently in this short story.
Wolff uses colors to symbolize a hatred for an alternative race in this short story. The husband more
than once makes reference to dark colors which shows the reader that the husband sees this world in
black and white. The husband sees the world as good vs. evil, white vs. black society. Furthermore,
the reference to color in the short story Say Yes , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cut she had from the silverware symbolizes the hurt on the inside. The pain from inside was
symbolizing the pain on the inside. Her husband s inconsiderate feelings for alternate races made her
feel like she didn t know him as well as she thought she did. Wolff used symbolization very effectively
by comparing the pain on the outside to the pain on the inside. Wolff s decision to put in this
description of dirty water was not because Wolff hates washing dishes. Wolff put that in there to show
a deeper meaning to it. Wolff is trying to show the husband s views on the topic being discussed
indirectly. Wolff shows a deeper meaning when the husband is continuing to wash the dishes. He is
spraying the silverware and darkened to pale blue (Wolff 518). This shows again the husband s
reference to colors. This happened right after the wife asked if he would marry her if she were black.
Wolff added this symbolism right after the question to indirectly show the husbands feelings toward
the topic. He shows his dislike for African Americans when he refused to answer the question. Wolff
uses colors to show his negative feelings towards interracial relationships. This symbolization helps
contribute to his theme of the husband s strong dislike for African Americans. Wolff uses excellent
symbols to express his message or theme. Short stories form is compressed where each word is

Ancient Roman Pottery Research Paper
Ancient Roman pottery revolutionized household pots and pans developing an arrange of table ware.
The Roman art began with Etruscan style pottery, all black, molded decorations on ceramic pieces,
unlike Greek pieces which was painted on. Pottery was manufactured near where the demand for the
product was for easy access. For example, areas in Southern Italy typical used black slip with a red
fabric over. For identification of trade, certain inscriptions and symbols were stamped into the pieces.
The Romans commonly used what is known as Black Glaze pottery. Other techniques of ceramic ware
were known as Thin Walled and Lead Glazed ware. Mass production of the ceramic pieces using
plaster molds became an extremely efficient and cheap way to

The Dreamer And The Cruel Country
Different Writing Styles Create Different Artistic Conceptions We are reading every day: newspapers,
books, magazines. What make all those articles different from others? They may have different topics,
different genres, or different backgrounds according to different writing styles. Even writing on the
same theme, different writing styles can create different artistic conceptions. Diaz s essay The
Dreamer , and Cofer s essay The Cruel Country are both talking about how their moms perseverances
influenced them on their literary Achievements as immigrations of the United States. After reading

of his mom. He chooses one significant sense that shows how hard her mom tried to be educated when
she was in the Dominican Republic to explain why he thinks his mom is tough. For example, Two
days before the move, she got down on her knees beside a stagnant puddle of water, put her mouth in
it and drank deeply (Diaz, 129). After reading this part of the story, the readers can understand the

Analysis Of The Catcher In The Rye
Worlds Apart In a City Boy s Heart The Catcher in the Rye, written by J.D. Salinger set in 1950s New
York City, deals greatly with maturity and youth. Especially, with regard to teenage struggles in
Holden Caulfield, and the effects of the environment on him. Phoebe and Sally Hayes, the two most
mentioned girls in the novel, differ greatly from each other in what they represent and in how they
influenced Holden Caulfield. Phoebe positively affects Holden, and gives him direction and reality.
One example of how Phoebe positively affects Holden is their conversations during Holden s visit, in
which Phoebe tries to convince Holden not to leave. Holden being very lost, drifting about New York
City, was anchored back to reevaluating his life and what he needs to do with Phoebe s guidance.
Holden s reevaluation of his life, after being guided by Phoebe, to go to her play, makes him appear
like that he had regained a small sense of direction in his life. Another example of Phoebe s positive
affect is given after Phoebe convinces Holden to stay, and not wander, with Holden admitting, I really
did go home afterwards...I felt so damn happy... The way old Phoebe kept going around... (212 213).
By convincing Holden to stay, Phoebe s positive affect is clearly sown exemplifying Phoebe s
importances in giving direction to Holden s life. Their conversation was the first time Holden was not
expressing his usual self destructive behavior; this was mainly due to Phoebe s presences and concern

Microsoft Corporation, Innovative And On The Cutting Edge...
The city of Seattle is seeking a sponsor for naming rights to the multipurpose arena. The arena serves
as the home court for the Seattle Storm of the Women s National Basketball Association and Seattle
University basketball of the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference. Seattle was recently
awarded an expansion team in the National Basketball Association. Residents of Seattle and
surrounding suburbs recently voted to name the franchise the Seattle Splash. The current arena which
is a property of AEG Facilities is seeking a local corporation that is willing to invest in not only the
present, but the future as well. As it stands now, the arena will need to be updated and modernized to
compete with other NBA arenas as it was last updated in 1995. My team and I recognize that the
Microsoft Corporation is innovative and on the cutting edge of technology. The following proposal
will showcase how a partnership between the Seattle Splash and the Microsoft Corporation can
provide the winning formula when technology and sports collide.
Seattle is excited to be gaining an NBA franchise once again. After the Super Sonics moved to
Oklahoma City at the conclusion of the 2007 2008 season, Seattle fans have felt a void that was left in
their life. At the conclusion of the 2015 16 NBA season, the Seattle Splash is excited to announce

Research And Design Of A Experimental Design
Research and Design This study will use a true experimental design because it allows the researcher to
exercise better control over research variables. This design ultimately strengthens the inference of
causality. To prove with confidence that changes in the dependent variable were caused by the
independent variable rather than sampling error, the research design must meet three criteria
(Nieswiadomy, 2012). The three criteria are: 1) the researcher manipulates the experimental variable;
2) at least one experimental and one comparison group are included; and 3) the subjects are randomly
assigned to either group, (Nieswiadomy, 2012). A type of true experimental design is the posttest only
control group design. The posttest only design is appropriate for this study because the participants
will be randomly assigned to groups and will be given two different treatments, (Nieswiadomy, 2012).
The experimental group will receive clinically indicated replacement of their PIV while the
comparison group will receive routine PIV replacement every 72 96 hours. The posttest will include a
daily assessment for phlebitis up to 48 hours after removal. A randomized controlled clinical trial is
the most logical way to complete this study because it is concerned with a cause and effect
relationship using human subjects. This study cannot be blinded because of the nature of the
intervention. The patients and nursing staff will know after day four what group they are in. However,

Essay on The Physics of Bridges
The Physics of Bridges
The design of the bridge superstructure is based on a set of loading conditions which the component or
element must withstand. A bridge engineer must take into account a wide variety of loads which may
vary based on the duration of the load
(permanent or temporary), the direction of the load (vertical, longitudinal, etc.), and the effect of the
load (shear, bending, torsion, etc.).
In order to form a consistent basis for design, organizations like AASHTO, American
Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, have developed a set of standard loading
conditions which are applied to the engineer s design model of the structure. Other nations maintain
their own set of design loads like the BS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the table 1.1 the designer would separate items such as sidewalks, railings, parapets, signing,
utilities, and the wearing of the surface.
Pressures due to earth and water are also considered permanent loads. While these loads primarily
affect substructure elements, they have the potential of impacting superstructure elements as well at
points where these two components interface (e.g., at the abutment backwall). This gives us a good
reminder that while we are discussing the structure s individual components, we can not lose sight of
the structure as a whole.
Temporary loads are those loads, which are placed on a bridge for only a short period of time. Just as
dead loads are the permanent loading condition, live loads represent the major temporary loading
condition. There are, however, several other classes of temporary loads, which the designer must
consider. The temporary loads are: vehicle live load, earthquake live load, wind loading, channel
forces, centrifugal forces, impact forces, and erection loads.
The term live load means a load that moves along the length of a span. Therefore, a person walking
along the bridge can be considered live load. Obviously, a highway bridge

Gout And Diet Prevention Study Essay
Recently, a gout and diet prevention study was published in by Dr. Hyon K. Choi and Gary Curhan in
Arthritis Care Research s June 2007 issue which examined the fact that, contrary to popular belief,
coffee may not be as bad for gout sufferers as previously thought. Although gout patients have been
told to stay away from coffee, there may be an ingredient in the beverage that can actually help to
lower the uric acid levels in the body.
Though it is not yet known what part of coffee is responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in the
body, it is known that it is not just the caffeine content, as the same results were not found from
drinking caffeinated tea. Whatever the cause, when participants drank one to two cups of coffee every

Similar, though not equal, results were witnessed. This is why it is now thought that components of
coffee other than soley caffeine are responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in the body.
Considering that until this study, gout sufferers had been discouraged from drinking coffee, many gout
sufferers may now be wondering what other gout and diet prevention beliefs may soon turn out to be
disproved. For example, though tea has not been found to reduce uric acid levels in the body as has
now been demonstrated with coffee, tea is often thought to be unacceptable as a part of a gout and diet
prevention strategy. Instead, tea can indeed be a part of a gout diet as long as it is consumed in
moderation and as long as its dehydrating effect is compensated for by taking in additional water.
It was also believed at one time that eating rich foods was the root cause of gout. Indeed, some rich
foods are high in proteins and purines and therefore may contribute to gout flare ups, however low fat
dairy products have now been shown to have a preventative effect. Also Gout is believed to be caused
by many factors, including being

The Intellectual Property
The lawyer Gregory T. Victoroff said At its best, sampling benefits society by creating a valuable new
contribution to modern music literature. At its worst, sampling is vandalism and stealing . Half way
between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a controversial issue in the music industry and the
infringement of copyright. In this assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual
property rights in relation to the music industry.
The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property, invented in the UK
in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that human knowledge is increased and made
accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect
creative works: performers rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in
order to protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property covers
different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that governs all the
activities in the music industry.
Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives rights to receive
economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights include the right of paternity, which is
the right to be identified as the author of the work. False attribution right gives right to not have a
work falsely attributed to you. And integrity right, is the right of an author

This form of assessment allows me to find out children s prior learning experiences and interests and

gives children the power to take control of their own learning and supports children s intrinsic
motivation of wanting to learn for themselves.
Again, due to the fact that children s interests and experiences are used to form a platform for
learning, the thematic approach tends to lend itself to be more motivating for pupils in conjunction

ANALYSIS OF SPEECH SIGN SEMANTIC EQUIVALENCE IN SIMULTANEAOUS
COMMUNICATION IN KENYA

1.0 Introduction
Effective communication between teacher and pupil is a requisite factor for educational attainment.
For the deaf, ineffective communication is a major problem especially when onset of profound
deafness takes places at an early age before language is acquired. At school, the language of classroom
communication not only affects the child s development but also influences ability to learn other
curriculum contents. Pointing out reasons for failure by deaf children to compete favorably with their
hearing peers, Johnson et al (1989) has indicated that the central problem on deaf education is
embedded in the lack of an appropriate language of classroom communication.
For a long time education for the deaf was conducted through the oral approach. It was later realized
that this oral approach did not avail curriculum content to the deaf learners. In the 1980 s Total
Communication arose as one of the solutions. According to Adoyo(2004), Total Communication was
misunderstood for Simultaneous Communication, a communication system in which speech and sign
are produced at the same time (Lane, Hoffmister Bahan, 1996). Although SC has been used in Kenya
for all these years, it has not produced the predicated large scale improvement.

Federal Government first started to regulate pesticides with the passing of the Insecticide Act of 1910.
In 1947, Congress broadened the role of the U.S. Government by passing the first Federal Insecticide,

Pro-Gun Rights Essay
Shall Not Be Infringed
When Governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is
tyranny. (Beck 35). This quote is from one of the greatest men in the history of the United States of
America, Thomas Jefferson, the father of the Declaration of Independence, and the third President of
the United States. The validity of his statement is not only historical, but as pertinent today as it was
when spoken anew. It is learned in schools across the nation, although the importance of the words
depends on the teacher, school, and region of the country. During the revolutionary period, King
George learned this same concept the hard way, ...an armed populace is a populace that will not be
pushed around. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Investigating all ten of the amendments to the Bill of Rights, only the second specifically ensures that
this be expected. The only true power that the people of a nation can have over their government is the
ability to remove it if it becomes more powerful than the people. This is a belief that is continuously
defended or confronted around the world and throughout history. Unfortunately, when the people have
an army standing between them and the government, the means to fight become very important, albeit
difficult. The federal government of the United States, when they attempt to create laws on gun
control, does not have the law on their side. Thanks to the founding fathers of the United States, this
right is ensured through time. They understood that any form of government can become corrupt and
eventually the people will need a legal way to ensure that they can take back their personal liberties if
it becomes necessary.
In the period of time before the United States became the young country it is today, in order to secure
and protect established borders, the colonists were in need of the assistance of the standing army of
King George, the British Red Coats. As soon as the colonists decided to revolt excessive taxation and
other mandates being imposed on towns and states,

Discuss how class conflict is represented in A Streetcar...
Class conflict is represented throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire in various ways through
characters, symbols, ideas and language. Characters such as Blanche, Stella, Mitch and Stanley are
used throughout the text to represent the upper and lower classes, as well as the conflict between the
two classes. Symbols, ideas and language help to define the different classes as well as helping to
represent the conflict between classes. The language (dialogue) of the characters, symbolic use of
names, animal imagery and colour (clothes) and the ideas of cultural capital help to define what the
lower and upper classes are.

In contrast the name Stanley offers no specific meaning in relation to meaning in the play. Secondly
the name Dubois sounds aristocratic, with a possible proud heritage, whereas the name Kowalski
sounds more modern. A Dubois speaks softly and flittingly, as the name is pronounced, whereas a
Kowalski speaks loudly and brutally as the name is said. Kowalski s enjoy loud, rowdy poker parties,
whilst Dubois s wince and prefer teas, cocktail parties and luncheons. The names of these two
characters help in constructing the conflict between the two classes. The dialogue of Blanche and
Stanley and the symbolic use of names help to construct class conflict in the play, A Streetcar Named

Stella represents the old south being converted by the new south. Blanche fights for Stella to come

Female Heroines Of The Movie The Alien Films
Traditional action films have positioned male heroes at the center of the narrative, with flat female
characters often needing to be saved by the male lead. As women in the 1980s began seeking
professional jobs and pursuing higher levels of education, gaining greater independence and in a sense
challenging the patriarchal expectations of the time, films began to reflect this change. One of the
genres in which this change became the most prevalent was the action film. Sarah Connors in the
Terminator films and Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, serve as excellent examples. However, as female
heroines become the focus of these narratives, their traditional feminine traits, such as emotional
expressivity, tenderness, and passiveness, are replaced with attributes like strength and aggression
typically associated with masculinity. Additionally, these female characters often turn to guns, a
weapon traditionally used to symbolize masculinity. Within these films, the continued use of the
phrase hard , in describing both the use of hardware and the heroines hard body, makes much more
obvious the lack of soft , more innately feminine qualities (Brown 60). There exists disagreement as to
whether these female characters serve to empower women in society or if their presentation is too
masculine, thus presenting them as essentially men in female clothing. Although these heroines
undoubtedly display traits more masculine than their female film predecessors, it can be argued that it

Case Study of Callaway Golf Company Essays
Case Study of Callaway Golf Company
Section I. Summary
Callaway Golf Company began to take form in 1983, after Ely Reeves Callaway Jr. sold Callaway
Vineyard and Winery for a $9 million dollar profit. Shortly after the sell of the winery, Callaway
ventured in to the golf equipment industry and bought 50 percent of Hickory Stick USA. Callaway
knew from the very beginning that this company s profits were limited as long as the product line
wasn t changing. Callaway noticed that most golf equipment had changed very little since the 1920s
and believed that , due to the difficulty of the game of golf, recreational golfers would be willing to
invest in high tech, premium priced clubs if such clubs could improve their game by being more ...

Helmstetter and his engineering team were very important to the execution of Callaway Golf s
competitive strategy. Callaway Golf Company consistently outspent its rivals in the industry on R D
which allowed it to continually beat its competitors to the market with new innovations. (P c210) In
1994, Callaway Golf opened the Helmstetter Test Center located a mile away from the main campus.
The Helmstetter Test Center had two primary uses; it provided an ideal place to custom fit clubs for
the touring pros who used Callaway equipment, and it allowed Callaway R D staff to test new
products in the developmental stage. The development of new products at Callaway Golf Company
not only included the research and development staff but also the sales and advertising staff. These
teams worked hand in hand together. When the R D would come up with a new product idea, the sales
and advertisement staff would look over this idea and recommend changes based on the current
market interests.
Callaway s customer service department was viewed as a critical component of the company s overall
level of differentiation. (p. c215) Even before handling any customer service inquiry, each customer
service representative received eight weeks of training since the entire customer service staff was
empowered to make a final decision regarding a consumer or retailer complaint or warranty claim. In

The Role Of Prostitution In Germany And Canada
Prostitution is often viewed as problematic and blamed for disease and disorder in society; rarely it is

assumptions embedded in the social structure of criminal justice system. Although Germany and
Canada have developed different policies and ideologies in the context of abolitionist and regulated

Character Analysis Of Arthur Gould s Merchant Of Venice
By analyzing one of the sources, the quote from Merchant of Venice, the detectives piece together the
correlation between the pound of flesh on the scale next to the victim and the reference to flesh in the
quote. Unfortunately, no fingerprints were found at the scene either implying that the murderer was
meticulous and careful or that he somehow removed his fingerprints, which makes it difficult for the
detectives to easily identify him. After reviewing the evidence and sources, Mills recalls that the
picture of Eli Gould s wife had her eyes circled in Mr. Gould s blood. From this evidence, they
deducted that the wife, although not physically at the crime scene, has knowledge that could somehow
help the case. After taking a second glance at the crime scene photos, she declares that a specific piece
of artwork has been rehung upside down, indicating to the detectives that it was at the behest of the
murderer. Behind the artwork, Somerset finds fingerprints, which is odd given that this is the first
crime scene where fingerprints have been found. The crime scene investigator, after using a black light
on the wall, discovers the words help me in the form of multiple fingerprints. These fingerprints are in
the national fingerprint database and match a man named Theodore Allen, who goes by Victor, has an
extended criminal history and had previously employed the second victim, Eli Gould, as his attorney.

Sociological Effects Of Climate Change
Sociological Effects of Climate Change Sociologist perform an important role in the study and report
on climate change for our world. For example, in order to understand the effects of climate change,
sociologists study the implements of healthcare workers, influences directing politicians to report or
not report climate change, big industry holders and what is at stake for them to lose or gain, and the
effects on the community by the decisions of these entities. The global skepticism and uninformed
views of climate change, a direct result of poor media reporting, government negligence, and
industries pay offs, impede the movement to counteract climate change from further destroying the

this is one reason why doctors must take a lead in speaking out. (p. 312) Correlating the health care
decline of humanity to the effects of climate change, physicians can develop a new function in society
and educate their patients about climate change during a routine exam. The global goal, through all
these different directives, remains to inform societies and develop mitigation efforts. However,
whether the world understands or acknowledges climate change or not, the damage caused by their
negligence still accumulates at the expense of defenseless people. Several countries neglect to
adequately address climate change issues because wealthy industries fear the loss in dividends and
stifle the government from taking action while creating bias information for the community. Often,

All Creatures Great And Small By James Herriot
Introduction All Creatures Great and Small was James Herriot s first book to be published in the
United States. In this book, the mature Herriot tells about his youthful self, when he graduated from
veterinary school and began working in rural veterinary practice. The narrator like the reader is able to
laugh at his naïveté of Herriot, as well as at the people who surround him, including Siegfried Farnon,
and his brother, Tristan Farnon. This memoir of James Herriot flashes the simple and laid back lives of
the countryside folks. It exhibits their struggles, cultures, etiquette, hardships and relationships. The
stories that are depicted in this book is loosely based on Herriot s life as a young veterinarian in the
rough English countryside pre WWII. There he encounters many different people and animals from
dogs and cats to livestock.
From the first day of Herriot s arrival at Skeldale House, being greeted by a troop of enthusiastic,
leaping, barking dogs, to the week of tuberculin testing that brings the book to a close, we share the
moments of joy, laughter, tears, nerves, confidence, mix ups, and triumphs involved in his Yorkshire
veterinary practice of the 1930s. We meet the eccentric Siegfried Farnon and the carefree Tristan
Farnon and many interesting people around the Dales, not to mention those marvellous animals who

Changes in Pension Accounting Over Time Have Improved...
Pensions are financial arrangements that allow individuals to receive an income stream during their
retirement years (Tatum, 2011). They are found in government institutions, private businesses,
professional groups and various other settings. Pensions funds can be found as a part of an institutions
or as an independent plan. Pension plans are a major participant in the capital markets. For example,
consider the fact that Ontario Teachers Pension Plan has a net asset value of $96.4 billion at the end of
December 31, 2009. Due to the large stake of pension plans in the local and global economy, there is a
persistent pressure to improve pension accounting. These changes have gained momentum with the

In the DC plan, the final benefits are unknown, but there are fixed contributions whereas in the DC
plan, because there is promise of a numerical benefit, the contributions vary as a result of time value
of money. This fundamentally means that the risk for the final benefit payout in the DB plan is borne
by the employer whereas in the DC plan, the pensioner bears this risk (Beechy Conrad, 2008).
Contributions to a pension fund are an expense for the employer, hence to describe in simple terms, on
a per pay basis, an employer will credit the pension fund with amount of pension funds the employee
is entitled to. This amount is the present value of the future payment stream payable to the employee
upon retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). The present value calculations of these obligations require
estimates of factors such as: investment earnings, future salary increases, employee turnover, mortality
rates, and life expectancy after retirement (Beechy Conrad, 2008). Actuarial models are used to
generate the probabilities used to calculate the pension obligation today, that will result in the
promised payout in the future. While companies do not have to worry about the funding status of DC
plans, those that offer the DB plan bear the perpetual burden of ensuring that the plans are funded.
There are three basic actuarial methods that can be used by an employer to fund the plan. The first
method is the accumulated benefit

Prejudice And Discrimination Essay
A lot of people understand and have gone through stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination. Social
Psychologists make a distinction between these by concentrating on either they include emotions,
understanding, or attitudes. Racism is the influence, or reaction, visible feature of this triad. Racism
includes a contradicting approach into individuals situated on their association in a specific
organization. The psychological visible feature is stereotyping. Stereotypes are feelings concerning the
characteristics of specific crowds or associates of those organizations. Prejudice includes attitudes.

Societal beginnings of racism associate the averages in our surroundings, the rivalry that lives
amongst organizations, and the societal unevenness that survive in our planet. For the reason that
classifying occurs commonly and is a beneficial utensil in a lot of forms, every person s civilization is
expected to acquire stereotypes. Ingroup partiality directs to mismatched treatment of the ones that we
have classified just as the outgroup. As well as outgroup uniformity partiality blocks our view on the
dissimilarities inside the outgroup.
Yet our understanding about the traits of these outgroups and how solid our racism is counts on the
specific civilization in which we live in. Racism and stereotypes bear beginnings in the pattern of our
societal organizations. Humans are taught bad behaviors against organizations by acquiring the
standards of their societal background. We are taught from our associates on which stereotypes are
suitable. When participants in one study were led to believe that their stereotypes were different from
those of their peers, those stereotypes were transformed to be more in connection with associate
stereotypes.
Assuming that our societal standards inform us that something on how racist we have to be against
specific organizations. Social norms dictate that we dislike child abusers, terrorists, and members of
the Ku Klux Klan. And these groups are groups we have strong prejudices toward. On

David Lockyer s War Limericks
War it isn t desired by anyone. If we can, we try to avoid it as much as possible. But there are times
when war can t be avoided. This fighting ultimately leads to thousands of innocent lives lost men,
women and children. We grieve their deaths, we mourn their deaths and we feel saddened by their
deaths. Poetry can help alleviate this saddened feeling. It can help us to feel happier in times of great
depression and stress. Some poems however strike the heart of war and the horrors related to it. The
poets can express their points of view on war, conscriptions or the propagandas in a dark manner and
create a gloomy atmosphere. One of these poems is part of David Lockyer s War Limericks. As the
title suggests, this poem is a limerick with sound and visual language used to boost the poems
meaning.

In the poem, Lockyer is expressing the success of the B 17 bomber in World War II. The bomber was
a relatively large airframe measuring in at a wingspan of 32 metres and an overall length of 21 metres.
Because of this, he compares the B 17 to a castle, saying it was a castle in the air. He also calls the B
17 a flying fortress. This name again gives us a visual image of just how large this bomber was.
Speaking of a flying fortress, this is one example of sound language that Lockyer has used. It is a form
of alliteration and helps to flow the poem. It helps to emphasise the idea of the B 17 being a castle in
the sky. Alliteration also adds to the rhythm of a poem and in a limerick this is all the more important.
Because this poem is a limerick, it contains an AABBA rhyme and rhythm pattern. Rhyme and rhythm
in a poem are important because they provide the heartbeat of the poem to which it can flow

Propagandist use words that are bland and euphemistic. Special appeals are to accommodate certain
groups of people. The use of plain folks is to make the group believe that their ideas or views are of

doing something, so should they. False connections leads to the technique of transfer. Transfer
constantly uses symbols and its main purpose is to carry over the authority, sanction, and prestige of
something we respect and revere to something the propagandist would have us accept 7. The
testimonial technique is when someone famous or someone that a person respects says something and
since they say it, well then that must be right, even if that person has no real knowledge of the
statement made. The question of bad logic or propaganda is that there is logical and illogical

Another part of logical fallacies is unwarranted extrapolation which basically is when the
communicator attempts to convince a person that a particular action will lead to disaster or to utopia 9.

The Main Duty Of A Pharmacist
The main duty of a pharmacist is to counsel patients and optimize their medication therapy. In order to
carry out this responsibility, a pharmacist has to develop a relationship with the patient. Establishing
an interpersonal relationship with patients requires the understanding of three concepts: initiating,
sustaining and terminating the interpersonal relationship.
When it comes to initial contact with a person, typically the primary objective is to initiate a
relationship and get to know the person better. An article written by Marcia Alesan Dawkins titled
How it s Done: Using Hitch as a Guide to Uncertainty Reduction Theory, discusses how one can
effectively reduce uncertainty when initiating relationships. According to the article, there are three
conditions that involve uncertainty reduction. The first is a person s perception of reward and
punishment . When individuals encounter somebody for the first time, they typically try to find out
whether that person has the potential to reward them by giving a positive experience or whether that
person can punish them, giving them a negative experience. The next condition is a person s perceived
expected behavior. If an individual walks up to somebody and expects to be greeted warmly, but
instead is given the cold shoulder, this will increase the amount of uncertainty present between the
two. Finally, the third condition the article mentions is when a person expects future interactions. If an

abolition in the 1790s. As a result, she decided to write a novel in hopes that it would accurately
convey the arguments of Rights of Woman while simultaneously being well received by the general
public and appeal to a broader audience in this form. Wollstonecraft had very radical ideas for her time
that eventually lead to the creation of one of the first feminist novels in English literature.
Wollstonecraft wrote The Wrongs of Woman; or Maria with one main point in mind, a very radical
and feminist point, nonetheless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maria is a heroine who has been imprisoned in multiple ways by her husband. Maria s husband also
claimed her property and her daughter. Jemima is Maria s warder in the madhouse who ends up telling
her life story to Maria. While those two women are the focus of her novel, Wollstonecraft presents the
reader with a string of devastating marriages that all result with a woman being abandoned, robbed, or
abused. This was a strategic way for Wollstonecraft to get the general public to be more aware of these
issues by sliding them into a fictional story. It was less of the blame game this way, by allowing the
readers to disapprove and dislike the fictional husbands and men in The Wrongs of Woman; or Maria
rather than their own husbands or men in real life. Those feelings could then simmer until one was
ready to make a public statement or try to speak out against patriarchy. Wollstonecraft made a
powerful statement by having the two women bond over their experiences with men. By doing this,
Wollstonecraft is encouraging women to band together and support each other. There is a particular
passage in The Wrongs of Woman; or Maria that really highlights Wollstonecraft s end goal. Thinking
of Jemima s peculiar fate and her own, she was led to consider the oppressed state of women, and to
lament that she had given

Personal Narrative Essay On Halloween At Rocky Mountain
Beware the following writing is extremely awesome!!! Have you ever climbed the tallest and most
fascinating mountain in the world or wrote about a fat boy eating candy on halloween (the fat boy was
me) well I have. Rocky Mountain Have you ever climbed the Rocky Mountain? Well, I have and
although it was fun it wasn t the easiest thing. When we first rolled up into the old cracked parking lot.
By the time we got to the first part of the trail leading up the long steep mountain my legs were
already cramping in pain.On the first part all it was was the stench of animal poop and grass. Once we
actually got to the good stuff it got real scary real quick especially once we started climbing the
frosty, prickly rocks.By the time we got to the top wich felt like ages it was a beutiful veiw from up
there you could even the the puffy white clouds!!!! Halloween as a baby Have you ever dressed up as
a giraffe and ate candy on halloween.Well I have and i was 2 and i loved it! When i was little i was a

Have you ever been to a amusement park well that s kinda what dollywood is. Once we got to the
roaring amusement park we went straight to the ticket booth and bought some tickets. Since we had
my little sister with us we couldn t ride any monster rides. So we went straight to the baby rides and
rode the casual car rides which were actually pretty cool at the time it was like an old time car with a
very lustery blue shine to them that famous elvis presley would ride in. The zooming cars would go up
and down and making me quite dizzy since i was only 7 years old. After Dollywood i was severely
grumpy for probably some stupid reason so i took a long nap in the car ride home wich felt as quick as

The Construction Of 1km Tall Kingdom Tower Of Jeddah,...
Executive Summary
Skyscrapers are continuously increasing in height as new technologies provide solutions to unique
problems that arise as a building grows. Technological advances have given rise to categories of
towers such as super talls (defined as buildings of over 300 metres) and mega talls (over 600 metres).
The tallest building currently is the Burj Khalifa at 829.8m (Schmidt, 2013) however this will not be
the case for long, as the construction of 1km tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is already
underway.
With the world s natural resources in extremely short supply, it is of incredibly high importance that
we use them in the most efficient way possible, therefore significant consideration must be given to
how we use them, whether this be for huge towers or otherwise.
On top of the issue above, there is an annual increase in population of nearly 76,000,000
(Worldometers.info, 2016) and the world s urban population is also on the increase; expected to be at
70% of the planet s population by 2050 (Berg, 2016).
The next milestone height to be reached by a building is one mile. It is suggested the we certainly
could build as high as this (Berg, 2016), but whether we should is a bit more difficult to answer.
In this report, I aim to assess the benefits, drawbacks and design considerations of these enormous
structures before providing an opinion on whether I believe they should or should not be built.

Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is defined by the social anxiety institute as the fear of being judged and evaluaded
negatively by other people. . The disorder is not just simply feeling uncomfortable in certain social
situations, which is fairly common. This disorder could easily be misused to describe shyness or the
actions of someone who s an introvert. Shyness does not affect someone s life the same way social
anxiety does. Social anxiety is actually extreme social phobia and could ultimately ruin someone s
life. When people suffer from this disorder, they may not even be able to do something as simple as
going to the grocery store because they are so fearful of what others think of them. About 15 million
Americans suffer from social anxiety. This disorder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having social anxiety can also cause someone to develop other mental disorders such as depression,
suicidal tendencies, anorexia, bulimia, etc. People suffering from this disorder can sometimes go to
cognitive behavioral therapy or group therapy. By going to CBT, people with this disorder can begin
to overcome their anxiety and fear of social interactions. Another way people find or receive treatment
is by taking medications prescribed to them by a doctor or psychiatrist. But, even with ways to
eliminate social anxiety, it can be difficult for those suffering to go put and seek help. Many times,
people who genuinely suffer from this disorder never get the help they need because they are so afraid
of social interactions that it s difficult for them to make an appointment and speak to a doctor. In
addition, not all disorders are the same and there s no guarantee that a certain treatment that worked
for one person can work for another. Thus, the best way to treat social anxiety disorder is to seek a
doctor who can refer you to whichever treatment will work best for

Wolff uses this literary device to express a message to his readers. Symbols, something representing something else by association resemblance or convention, are used efficiently in this short story. Wolff uses colors to symbolize a hatred for an alternative race in this short story. The husband more than once makes reference to dark colors which shows the reader that the husband sees this world in black and white. The husband sees the world as good vs. evil, white vs. black society. Furthermore, the reference to color in the short story Say Yes , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cut she had from the silverware symbolizes the hurt on the inside. The pain from inside was symbolizing the pain on the inside. Her husband s inconsiderate feelings for alternate races made her feel like she didn t know him as well as she thought she did. Wolff used symbolization very effectively by comparing the pain on the outside to the pain on the inside. Wolff s decision to put in this description of dirty water was not because Wolff hates washing dishes. Wolff put that in there to show a deeper meaning to it. Wolff is trying to show the husband s views on the topic being discussed indirectly. Wolff shows a deeper meaning when the husband is continuing to wash the dishes. He is spraying the silverware and darkened to pale blue (Wolff 518). This shows again the husband s reference to colors. This happened right after the wife asked if he would marry her if she were black. Wolff added this symbolism right after the question to indirectly show the husbands feelings toward the topic. He shows his dislike for African Americans when he refused to answer the question. Wolff uses colors to show his negative feelings towards interracial relationships. This symbolization helps contribute to his theme of the husband s strong dislike for African Americans. Wolff uses excellent symbols to express his message or theme. • 7. Analysis Of The Catcher In The Rye Worlds Apart In a City Boy s Heart The Catcher in the Rye, written by J.D. Salinger set in 1950s New York City, deals greatly with maturity and youth. Especially, with regard to teenage struggles in Holden Caulfield, and the effects of the environment on him. Phoebe and Sally Hayes, the two most mentioned girls in the novel, differ greatly from each other in what they represent and in how they influenced Holden Caulfield. Phoebe positively affects Holden, and gives him direction and reality. One example of how Phoebe positively affects Holden is their conversations during Holden s visit, in which Phoebe tries to convince Holden not to leave. Holden being very lost, drifting about New York City, was anchored back to reevaluating his life and what he needs to do with Phoebe s guidance. Holden s reevaluation of his life, after being guided by Phoebe, to go to her play, makes him appear like that he had regained a small sense of direction in his life. Another example of Phoebe s positive affect is given after Phoebe convinces Holden to stay, and not wander, with Holden admitting, I really did go home afterwards...I felt so damn happy... The way old Phoebe kept going around... (212 213). By convincing Holden to stay, Phoebe s positive affect is clearly sown exemplifying Phoebe s importances in giving direction to Holden s life. Their conversation was the first time Holden was not expressing his usual self destructive behavior; this was mainly due to Phoebe s presences and concern as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The arena serves as the home court for the Seattle Storm of the Women s National Basketball Association and Seattle University basketball of the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference. Seattle was recently awarded an expansion team in the National Basketball Association. Residents of Seattle and surrounding suburbs recently voted to name the franchise the Seattle Splash. The current arena which is a property of AEG Facilities is seeking a local corporation that is willing to invest in not only the present, but the future as well. As it stands now, the arena will need to be updated and modernized to compete with other NBA arenas as it was last updated in 1995. My team and I recognize that the Microsoft Corporation is innovative and on the cutting edge of technology. The following proposal will showcase how a partnership between the Seattle Splash and the Microsoft Corporation can provide the winning formula when technology and sports collide. • 9. Research And Design Of A Experimental Design Research and Design This study will use a true experimental design because it allows the researcher to exercise better control over research variables. This design ultimately strengthens the inference of causality. To prove with confidence that changes in the dependent variable were caused by the independent variable rather than sampling error, the research design must meet three criteria (Nieswiadomy, 2012). The three criteria are: 1) the researcher manipulates the experimental variable; 2) at least one experimental and one comparison group are included; and 3) the subjects are randomly assigned to either group, (Nieswiadomy, 2012). A type of true experimental design is the posttest only control group design. The posttest only design is appropriate for this study because the participants will be randomly assigned to groups and will be given two different treatments, (Nieswiadomy, 2012). The experimental group will receive clinically indicated replacement of their PIV while the comparison group will receive routine PIV replacement every 72 96 hours. • 11. Essay on The Physics of Bridges The Physics of Bridges The design of the bridge superstructure is based on a set of loading conditions which the component or element must withstand. A bridge engineer must take into account a wide variety of loads which may vary based on the duration of the load (permanent or temporary), the direction of the load (vertical, longitudinal, etc.), and the effect of the load (shear, bending, torsion, etc.). In order to form a consistent basis for design, organizations like AASHTO, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, have developed a set of standard loading conditions which are applied to the engineer s design model of the structure. Pressures due to earth and water are also considered permanent loads. While these loads primarily affect substructure elements, they have the potential of impacting superstructure elements as well at points where these two components interface (e.g., at the abutment backwall). This gives us a good reminder that while we are discussing the structure s individual components, we can not lose sight of the structure as a whole. Temporary loads are those loads, which are placed on a bridge for only a short period of time. Just as dead loads are the permanent loading condition, live loads represent the major temporary loading condition. There are, however, several other classes of temporary loads, which the designer must consider. The temporary loads are: vehicle live load, earthquake live load, wind loading, channel forces, centrifugal forces, impact forces, and erection loads. The term live load means a load that moves along the length of a span. Therefore, a person walking along the bridge can be considered live load. Obviously, a highway bridge ... At its worst, sampling is vandalism and stealing . Half way between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a controversial issue in the music industry and the infringement of copyright. In this assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual property rights in relation to the music industry. The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property, invented in the UK in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that human knowledge is increased and made accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect creative works: performers rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in order to protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property covers different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that governs all the activities in the music industry. Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives rights to receive economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights include the right of paternity, which is the right to be identified as the author of the work. False attribution right gives right to not have a work falsely attributed to you. A Short Note On Speech Sign Semantic Equivalence Essay ANALYSIS OF SPEECH SIGN SEMANTIC EQUIVALENCE IN SIMULTANEAOUS COMMUNICATION IN KENYA By Adoyo Peter Oracha Department of special needs education, Maseno University, P.O Box 333, Maseno Kenya. 1.0 Introduction Effective communication between teacher and pupil is a requisite factor for educational attainment. For the deaf, ineffective communication is a major problem especially when onset of profound deafness takes places at an early age before language is acquired. At school, the language of classroom communication not only affects the child s development but also influences ability to learn other curriculum contents. Pointing out reasons for failure by deaf children to compete favorably with their hearing peers, Johnson et al (1989) has indicated that the central problem on deaf education is embedded in the lack of an appropriate language of classroom communication. For a long time education for the deaf was conducted through the oral approach. It was later realized that this oral approach did not avail curriculum content to the deaf learners. In the 1980 s Total Communication arose as one of the solutions. According to Adoyo(2004), Total Communication was misunderstood for Simultaneous Communication, a communication system in which speech and sign are produced at the same time (Lane, Hoffmister Bahan, 1996). • 21. Female Heroines Of The Movie The Alien Films Traditional action films have positioned male heroes at the center of the narrative, with flat female characters often needing to be saved by the male lead. As women in the 1980s began seeking professional jobs and pursuing higher levels of education, gaining greater independence and in a sense challenging the patriarchal expectations of the time, films began to reflect this change. One of the genres in which this change became the most prevalent was the action film. Sarah Connors in the Terminator films and Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, serve as excellent examples. However, as female heroines become the focus of these narratives, their traditional feminine traits, such as emotional expressivity, tenderness, and passiveness, are replaced with attributes like strength and aggression typically associated with masculinity. Additionally, these female characters often turn to guns, a weapon traditionally used to symbolize masculinity. Within these films, the continued use of the phrase hard , in describing both the use of hardware and the heroines hard body, makes much more obvious the lack of soft , more innately feminine qualities (Brown 60). There exists disagreement as to whether these female characters serve to empower women in society or if their presentation is too masculine, thus presenting them as essentially men in female clothing. This fighting ultimately leads to thousands of innocent lives lost men, women and children. We grieve their deaths, we mourn their deaths and we feel saddened by their deaths. Poetry can help alleviate this saddened feeling. It can help us to feel happier in times of great depression and stress. Some poems however strike the heart of war and the horrors related to it. The poets can express their points of view on war, conscriptions or the propagandas in a dark manner and create a gloomy atmosphere. One of these poems is part of David Lockyer s War Limericks. As the title suggests, this poem is a limerick with sound and visual language used to boost the poems meaning. It is a form of alliteration and helps to flow the poem. It helps to emphasise the idea of the B 17 being a castle in the sky. Alliteration also adds to the rhythm of a poem and in a limerick this is all the more important. Because this poem is a limerick, it contains an AABBA rhyme and rhythm pattern. Transfer constantly uses symbols and its main purpose is to carry over the authority, sanction, and prestige of something we respect and revere to something the propagandist would have us accept 7. The testimonial technique is when someone famous or someone that a person respects says something and since they say it, well then that must be right, even if that person has no real knowledge of the statement made. The question of bad logic or propaganda is that there is logical and illogical conclusions. The propagandist deliberately manipulates logic in order to promote their cause 8. • 42. The Main Duty Of A Pharmacist The main duty of a pharmacist is to counsel patients and optimize their medication therapy. In order to carry out this responsibility, a pharmacist has to develop a relationship with the patient. Establishing an interpersonal relationship with patients requires the understanding of three concepts: initiating, sustaining and terminating the interpersonal relationship. When it comes to initial contact with a person, typically the primary objective is to initiate a relationship and get to know the person better. An article written by Marcia Alesan Dawkins titled How it s Done: Using Hitch as a Guide to Uncertainty Reduction Theory, discusses how one can effectively reduce uncertainty when initiating relationships. According to the article, there are three conditions that involve uncertainty reduction. The first is a person s perception of reward and punishment . When individuals encounter somebody for the first time, they typically try to find out whether that person has the potential to reward them by giving a positive experience or whether that person can punish them, giving them a negative experience. The next condition is a person s perceived expected behavior. If an individual walks up to somebody and expects to be greeted warmly, but instead is given the cold shoulder, this will increase the amount of uncertainty present between the two. Finally, the third condition the article mentions is when a person expects future interactions. If an individual expects to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Analysis Of The Wrongs Of Maria By Mary Wollstonecraft Michaela Heilesen ENGL: 2348:0001 Fighting the Patriarchy with Novels Mary Wollstonecraft was a passionate woman who advocated for women s rights in the 1700s. She quickly noticed how popular genres supported the campaign for abolition in the 1790s. As a result, she decided to write a novel in hopes that it would accurately convey the arguments of Rights of Woman while simultaneously being well received by the general public and appeal to a broader audience in this form. Wollstonecraft had very radical ideas for her time that eventually lead to the creation of one of the first feminist novels in English literature. Maria is a heroine who has been imprisoned in multiple ways by her husband. Maria s husband also claimed her property and her daughter. Jemima is Maria s warder in the madhouse who ends up telling her life story to Maria. While those two women are the focus of her novel, Wollstonecraft presents the reader with a string of devastating marriages that all result with a woman being abandoned, robbed, or abused. This was a strategic way for Wollstonecraft to get the general public to be more aware of these issues by sliding them into a fictional story. It was less of the blame game this way, by allowing the readers to disapprove and dislike the fictional husbands and men in The Wrongs of Woman; or Maria rather than their own husbands or men in real life. Those feelings could then simmer until one was ready to make a public statement or try to speak out against patriarchy. Wollstonecraft made a powerful statement by having the two women bond over their experiences with men. By doing this, Wollstonecraft is encouraging women to band together and support each other. • 45. The Construction Of 1km Tall Kingdom Tower Of Jeddah,... Executive Summary Skyscrapers are continuously increasing in height as new technologies provide solutions to unique problems that arise as a building grows. Technological advances have given rise to categories of towers such as super talls (defined as buildings of over 300 metres) and mega talls (over 600 metres). The tallest building currently is the Burj Khalifa at 829.8m (Schmidt, 2013) however this will not be the case for long, as the construction of 1km tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is already underway. With the world s natural resources in extremely short supply, it is of incredibly high importance that we use them in the most efficient way possible, therefore significant consideration must be given to how we use them, whether this be for huge towers or otherwise. On top of the issue above, there is an annual increase in population of nearly 76,000,000 (Worldometers.info, 2016) and the world s urban population is also on the increase; expected to be at 70% of the planet s population by 2050 (Berg, 2016). The next milestone height to be reached by a building is one mile. It is suggested the we certainly could build as high as this (Berg, 2016), but whether we should is a bit more difficult to answer.
