Animal Protection And Breed-Discriminatory Laws
Best Friends opposes breed discriminatory legislation (also called breed specific legislation, BSL),
which arbitrarily targets particular breeds. Breed discriminatory laws are not only ineffective at
improving community safety, they are extremely expensive to enforce and deplete needed resources
from animal control. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (click above for direct link) A
CDC study on fatal dog bites lists the breeds involved in fatal attacks over 20 years (Breeds of dogs
involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998). It does not identify
specific breeds that are most likely to bite or kill, and thus is not appropriate for policy making
decisions related to the topic. Each year, 4.7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Restrictions from outright bans to requirements for confinement, insurance, and spay and neuter often
follow incidents in which a breed and its crosses are implicated in aggressive incidents or dog fighting
or other criminal activity. Such limits cause the death of many well behaved pets and rob law abiding
pet owners of their rights to choose a breed or mix and responsibly own or maintain a pet or working
dog without government interference. NAIA supports nuisance ordinances and dangerous dog laws to
protect the community against unruly or dangerous dogs and irresponsible dog owners. NAIA
supports sentences for violation of dog confinement and nuisance laws that include mandatory
attendance at a basic obedience training class. AKC dog obedience clubs have provided such classes
for the general public for decades and, together with private trainers, they represent a well established
community resource for courts dealing with dog related offenses. International Association of Animal
Behavior Consultants (click above for direct link) Position Statement on Breed Specific Legislation:

Discrimination In Sports
It s 2016 now, the U.S. Women s soccer team is in its prime. They won the World Cup of 2016 and are
currently ranked the number one team in the world. When they won the World Cup, as a whole they
got paid $2 million dollars. The U.S. Men s team had lost in the first round of their World Cup, yet
they were paid $8 million dollars. Imagine how much more the U.S. Men s team would have made if
they won. Although men and women play the same sport at a high level, men unfairly earn a higher
wage than women. Although many things have changed over the years, there are many more changes
that need to come. Discrimination has occurred ever since the dawn of time and is still a very common
issue today. Soccer is a very popular sport all throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hazing In Cyberbullying
The internet and the increase in social media use have created a whole new dimension to bullying and
hazing. While cyber bullying is relatively young in comparison to bullying and hazing, it is no less
vicious in nature, and like the Internet, it continues to evolve over time ( National , n.d., p. 1). Policies
and procedures need to be continually updated as technology and the way students communicate
rapidly change. There are countless examples of social media used to bully students. In a case in Iowa,
Kiana Phelps was cyber bullied because of her success in track (Naughton, 2016). According to
Naughton (2016), jealous students posted Social media photos of her working out accompanied with
rude and sarcastic comments. The students went so far as to claim online that Phelps only gets
attention because her older sister had died of anorexia (Naughton, 2016). Obviously, this situation
became personal and very hurtful for Phelps but the school board did not take any action (Naughton,
2016). Another bully case started in a high school locker room. According to the victim, Sophia Dama,
Victoria Neuman, took cell phone videos of two of the girls, Brianna Kopp and Jenifer Kempka,
sitting on the toilet. Sophia Dama later told her father that Neuman took a picture of her dressing in a
stall (Richmond, 2016). According to sources, Neuman also recorded a teammate put her bare butt on
Sophia s head (Richmond, 2016). The three girls involved in the creating the videos were

Theme Of Good Country People And Everyday Use
We all know that education, more than anything else, improves our chances of building better lives,
said the great Nelson Mandela. The recurring theme of using education being used as power is
significantly prevalent in the short stories Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, and Everyday
Use by Alice Walker. In the short story Good Country People, Joy (the protagonist, later referred to as
Hulga) holds the center of attention. She has been exceptionally educated. In fact, she holds a doctoral
degree in philosophy. She holds a reputation of being extremely intelligent, capable of taking on some
of the most challenging tasks that the world has to offer. With her formal education, she feels as

Upon argument of the lovely quilts, Wangero feels that she is inclined to have them because they serve
as good keepsakes. However, once informed by her mother that the quilts were already promised to
Maggie, she argues that Maggie would never know the significance of the quilts, and that she fails to
possess enough cultural understanding to own the quilts. She completely goes off of a tangent in
disagreement with her mother about the promising f the quilts to Maggie. Dee feels her mother that,
[she] just doesn t understand, why she should have the quilts. Dee solidifies her argument with a
modern and traditional understanding of the thematic cultural idea: Your heritage, [Wangero] said.
And then she turned to Maggie, kissed her and said, You ought to try to make something of yourself

Niccolo Machiavelli Essay
Niccolo Machiavelli Around 1513 Niccolo Machiavelli while writing The Prince would not be
considered a theologian. When thinking of Machiavelli many people confuse him together with the
names of rulers who have abused his writings. It also seems other people confuse Machiavelli with the
rapper who took his name. Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true
message, bettering the state and the greater good. Machiavelli may seem evil to some but his political
theory properly applied is optimal for founding a state, establishing and then maintaining order.
Machiavelli being a consequentialist believed actions should be judged by their consequences.

When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to hurt
some? Machiavelli is not against all that is good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against
religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his
philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although
one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be
praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the
others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions,
when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too
could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment
that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses
when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must
found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and
The Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make
himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. A Prince
should establish a republic but still

The Real Estate Industry Is An Industry
The real estate industry is an industry where consumers can purchase, rent, or lease real estate,
manage residential, commercial, and industrial properties, and provide other real estate related
services, including appraisals (CITATAION).
The demand for real estate is driven by economic growth, personal finance, and rates of employment,
interest rates, and access to funds. (CITATION) The return on investment of an individual relies on the
value and demand of the property, which are both influenced by the economy. Real estate investors
also depend on the amount of investment capital available. Seasoned investors have a competitive
advantage based on their financial resources. Beginning investors can compete closely by focusing on
local smaller markets within the industry
Within real estate investing there are various independent variables and services that collectively
contribute to the success and major functioning of one another. The realm of these dependencies
within the industry include property and investment management, brokerage services, leasing,
valuations, relocation services (CITATION). The entities in need of the above services include,
property owners, investors, home buyers, and renters. Real estate investors generally focus in
residential or commercial properties.
As we dig further into the Real Estate industry we will now focus on the industry itself, the factors
that influence the emerging market along with the benefits and risk associated with each

The Factors Of Social Psychology
This movie is chosen for a number of reasons. One because of it s reputation at being the greatest of
all time classics. Secondly, it shows examples of behavioral, physiological, and mental aspects of
psychology that anyone can judge it and come to their own conclusion. It s an awesome movie to find
theories to analyze, not to mention having the greatest ongoing values along with the film. Most of the
big theories that I will use deal with of social interaction, which involves with the factors of social
psychology.
Starting off I would like to point one of the characters from the movie. The character is by Keanu
Reeves, who plays the role as Mr. Thomas Anderson, a computer programmer, but he s also living a
life as a computer hacker under the alias Neo . The social principle that applies to Neo s character of
being a very informational influence. To give a brief summary, Neo is awoken from a simulation of
what life is, to the cruel reality which is the exact opposite of everything he s known. Neo experiences
all the characteristics of being in an unusual environment and culture, which include but not limited to
denial, acceptance, etc. The reason why influences plays a part is because Neo is motivated by the
belief that individuals who brought him to reality are correct. This is, what s known as informational
influence.
There are ten different events.characters, and ideas in the movie that definitely point out to several
theories of psychology. The first is an

The Vietnam War Tactics
Various military tactics were by both sides of the Vietnam War, the belligerents used military
strategies based primarily around getting a geographical or strategic advantage, such as Booby traps,

Booby Traps
Booby Traps were a form of anti personnel device (APD) utilised by the North Vietnamese militia, the
Viet Cong against South Vietnamese allied forces. Traps such as whip traps, punji sticks (pits
containing spears that were hidden with sticks and leaves.
Tunnel System
The Chu Chi tunnels are an intricate network of interconnecting underground tunnels located in the
proximity of Saigon, South Vietnam (later renamed as Ho Chi Minh City ). The tunnels proved a key
advantage during various military campaigns during the war, and served as the Viet Cong s base of
operations for the Tet Offensive in 1968.

Political Themes In The Metamorphosis By Steven Berkoff
This year we have been studying The Metamorphosis by playwright Steven Berkoff; an adaptation of
the novel by Franz Kafka. The play follows the story of Gregor, a working class man who goes to
sleep one evening and wakes up having transformed into a cockroach like insect. The scene from the
play that we have used as a stimulus was the scene in which Gregor actually transforms from a
respected and depended upon son to being an alienated insect who is a burden to his family. In support
of these themes, we have created a performance based on the 2008 recession , where thousands of
people were affected and economically stable and dependent first world countries fell and transformed

Brecht s political theatre stems from his political views towards communism and the upper class
society. Theatre that comments on political issues within society. Brecht began to have a dislike for the
capitalist society he was brought up in and wanted more of an equal approach to the world and the
people around him. With epic theatre, Brecht wanted it to be both didactic (able to teach others) and
dialectic (able to create discussions and ideas). The audience at no time during an epic play can be
seen to be in a trance or take what they see on stage for granted. Our performance is reflective of
Brecht and his Epic and Political theatre as we address many political topics such as Marxism and the
divides between classes and the corruption of the government. We have props such as protest signs
and banners to communicate Brecht s political theatre to the audience. In the first episode, Brown s
Boys, there is a scene where MPs choke and die after ignoring the recession and protesters emerge
into the audience chanting that politics is dead and they don t really care about us while holding
banners saying, politics is dead and Gordon Clown . This was done as it represented politics and the
fact the seriousness of the situation was ignored; showing how quickly the issues with the recession
spiralled out of control and became something that even the higher up in society were unable

Helen In The Odyssey
The relationship between the male and the female is by nature such that the male is higher, the female
lower, This very sexism and politically incorrect statement came from the mouth of the famous
Aristotle from ancient Greece. People from ancient Greece commonly associated women inferior to
men and women s role only belonged in the house and with the children with no political activity. In
contrast to this stereotype, Homer, though his book the Iliad, demonstrated women such as
Andromache, Brises and Helen playing an enormous role for the Trojans, Achaean and the major war
itself through their presents in the lives of the protagonist which change the outcome of the war
completely.

For example, many could argue that even though Helen s capture resulted in a war, the blame does not
fall on her because Pairs lust drove him into steeling her, therefore blaming the war on man and his
lust and not the women behind it. Others could believe also that the honor and glory drove him into
the battle and not the safety of his wife, which then also takes away from the women contributing
towards that war. Overall, there arise different reasons why some argue that women did not play a
huge role in the Iliad and the whole story revolves around the men.
Women play an enormous role in the Iliad and even though they do not actually fight in the war their
presents in the lives of the protagonist change the war completely. Their roles, though small from line
to line, had huge impacts on the war overall. From Hector s love for Andromache who fought for the
Trojans nonmatter what, and Achilles not fighting for the Achaeans because of Brises, to Paris capture
of Helen that started the whole war Homer really emphases these women s role and influence in the
different male protagonist and the Trojan war

The Importance Of Hazards
Hazards rise from two main sources such as natural (e.g. hydrological, climatological, oceanic,

This study will focus to analyse the current insurance market trends related to disaster risk in
developing countries where majority of global economic losses experienced and the ways to improve
the risk financing practices and insurance market links to disaster risk management.
3. Disaster risk management and insurance industry
According to UNISDR (2009), disaster can be defined as a serious disruption of the functioning of a
community or a society involving widespread human, material, economic or environmental losses and
impacts, which exceeds the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own
resources. Disaster risk is the combination of likelihood of a catastrophic event occurring; the
exposure to the affected areas; and vulnerability of the affected communities or country (Global
Reinsurance Forum, 2014). The impacts of disaster risk include not only loss of life and physical
damages but also increase the potential outbreak of secondary hazards such as diseases and negative
effect on physical, mental and social wellbeing of human being, services, social, economic and
environment sectors. Disaster risk management include avoiding or mitigating the potential of hazard
occurrence and exposure and reducing the vulnerability level by strengthening the tangible and
intangible capacities.

Essay Comparing The Parable Of The Old Man And The Young
There were similarities as well as differences found in the two works Abraham and Isaac and The
Parable of the Young and the Old . One similarity is the objects that Abram brought with him. In both
works, Abram is said to have brought fire and knife with him. Also, in both works, Isaac asks the same
question. As they arrive near the sacrificial place, Isaac asks where the lamb for the sacrifice is. In
both works, Abram bounds his son and is about to slay him when an angel speaks out. Finally, in both
stories, a ram is offered from the angel instead of Isaac. However, there are several key differences
that separate these two seemingly similar works.
The most major difference is the connotation of The Parable of the Old Man and the Young . The
entire story is a metaphor for war, as can be seen in many lines. ... Show more content on

The belts and straps that Abram used, as well as parapets and trenches, were used in World War I. The
angel calling out to Abram was not an actual angel, but that of the population s plea for peace. The

Abram killed his son, he ended up killing half the seed of Europe, and perhaps half the seed of Europe
was killed in World War I. After all, if someone is killed, their descendants will never be able to live.
Even looking just at the literal meaning, there are several key differences. In Abraham and Isaac, God
is shown tempting Abraham and telling him to go to Moriah and offer Isaac as a sacrifice. However, in
The Parable of the Old Man and the Young , the setting starts with Abram and Isaac on their journey.

A Comparative Analysis of Force Directed Layout Algorithms for Biological Networks
Brief Description:
I will conduct a comparative analysis of multiple force directed algorithms used to identify clusters in
biological networks. The analysis will consider topics such as the algorithm process, amount of
preprocessing, complexity, and flexibility of the algorithms for different types and sizes of data. K
Means, SPICi, Markov Clustering, RNSC, and PBD will be used for the comparison. I will identify
the best algorithm according to my analysis for each type of input data studied.

Proteins control all processes within the cell. Though some proteins work individually, most work in
groups to participate in some biochemical event. Examples of these processes include protein protein
interaction networks, metabolome, correlation/co expression values, synthetic lethality, and signal

Informative Speech Outline: Wilderness Survival
L .INTRODUCTION
A. If you were stranded in the wilderness of Alaska, would you be a survivor or a unprepared victim?
B. This topic is important to myself and you, because improving knowledge on surviving simple
encounters such as a car breaking down in the largest state in the U.S with over half a million miles of
wilderness is extremely vital.
C. I m going to briefly talk about preparing yourself, procedures and steps from experienced writers,
and signaling for help in a wilderness survival situation.

B. The Three Essentials and useful steps and techniques
1. Shelter, Water, and Food The most important concept of wilderness survival is prioritizing which is
more important, shelter, water, or food. Survival teachers discuss a Rule of threes , stating You can
live 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 hours without warmth, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food.
You ll die of hypothermia before you die of thirst, says Lundin, ( Eight steps for coming back alive.

you die of hypothermia before dying of thirst, and dying of thirst before dying of starvation, that
makes shelter most important, water second, and food third
a.Shelter If shelter is your car, you can increase the area a car heater warms by partitioning off the
back seat using a blanket and running the engine ten minutes each hour. If you don t have a car, then
finding an area that has no ground moisture or wetness, can turn away the wind, retain warmth, and
doesn t have any large animal feces or remains around. You should consider if you will be able to
survive with the resources around your shelter before settling there. The next most important thing is

Meaning Of Bread Givers By Anzia Vezierska
From start to finish, English this year had been unlike any other I had. From start to finish, each and
every book had a deeper meaning than I, before, could possibly resolve from the text. The exposure I
had to this deeper level of thinking forever changed the way I see literature. Less about what than why
, Literature distinguishes a meaningful story from another. While what makes a book good is different
for everyone, what makes a story meaningful is what it teaches. Each book I read this year had a story
and logic behind it. Every story was real enough to have actually happened because the plot points are
supported with real speculation backed up by the nature of humanity. I, personally, have never gone as
deep into literature as I have this year, giving me a new appreciation for the genius behind the
speculation these books present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though up to this time I had never gotten deeply engaged in a book, the jerkiness of the father

hidden behind the words that I thought little of. However after spending a week in English talking
about the book, I started to see meaning behind it, but only once the meaning was directly stated. At
the time, the book did not speak to me in any way, but now looking back, what speaks to me the most
is Sarah s new perception on identity. She asks herself, can a tree hate the roots from which it sprang?
Who gave me the fire, the passion, to push myself up from the dirt? (286). She states that even though

Short Essay About The Aztecs
The Aztecs were a complex civilization, I don t know much about the Aztec Civilization, I only know
the outline. The reason why I chose the Aztecs is because I played a few video games growing up
playing as that civilization, and they have always made me more interested in them. What I know, is
eventually they came upon a spot with an eagle sitting on a cactus with a serpent wrapped in it s legs,
that s where Tenochtitlan would be built. Montezuma was their leader, he was fierce and strict, but at
the same time kind hearted and understanding, but nobody mistook his kindness for weakness, except
for the Spanish. The Aztecs would fight enemies and enslave the rebellions and sacrifice them. The
ones that cooperated, would have to pay tributes every few weeks though. Those people could live a
normal life, just under Aztec control. They built things called skyfarms. Those farms were very well

Canadian Economic Problems
To meet the needs of Canadian people, three fundamental economic questions need to be answered:
What should we produce?
How should we produce it?
For whom should we produce it?
Although every country will answer the what, how and for whom questions differently, every country
will be confronted with the same fundamental problems: resource allocation and scarcity.
Resources are all the ingredients needed for production. The factors of production include land(natural
resources, labor (workers for the production process) entrepreneur (business owners), and capital
(technology and machinery/tools of production).
Scarcity refers to the fact that people s wants or desires are going to be higher than the resources

Canada s Economy is based mostly on natural resources such as fur trade, farming, fishing, forestry,
and mining. The history of Canada s economy goes back to the 16th century when the French and
British came to Canada and traded iron tools, weapon and other good with the First Nations people for
fur, beaver mostly. The fur where exported back to Europe and Canadian Codfish was dried and salted
and sent to Europe as well.
1800 s
1890 to 1914 Canada had a rapid growth of mining and manufacturing. In Aug of 1896, the was the

Technology Negatively Impacting Education
Technology Negatively Impacting Education
In today s world, there is no uncertainty that technology has grown to be a part of our daily life.
Although everyone s opinion is different, some may say it is positively impacting education while
others say its negatively impacting education. According to the articles Texting and Writing by
Michaela Cullington and Wikipedia: Write First, Ask Questions Later by Dennis Baron, appear to

education by the ability to use proper grammar, inhibiting writing skills, and just being plain out lazy.
Grammar is defined as the way sentences of a language are constructed. In the article Texting and
Writing it states how teachers have reported findings that students are using abbreviations for words
such as 2 for to or gr8 for great (404). Being in the habit of texting and using abbreviations can cause

10 Christmas Movies that Won t Turn you Into a Grinch or Scrooge
Hundreds of Christmas movies have been made since the invention of motion pictures and are still
being made to this day. There are only a few that are considered Classics . What I consider classics are
the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you prefer more
recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s.
These are some of my favorite holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the
English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today.
#10 A Christmas Carol (2009) This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A
Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of
following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors. This very
exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a
fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version.
#9 A Christmas Carol (1984) This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens s famous 1800s
play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie is one of the most accurate movies based on the play
and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I
consider this movie to be the original version although I know it

Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation
Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human body has
to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we have all
grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs a stable
base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding musculature. When
the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscle activation, and therefore stability and function, is
theoretically altered. Many shoulder rehabilitation programs focus on restoring proper coordination of
these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward rotation. Until recently, however, there
has not been much research supporting the relationship between muscle activation ratios and shoulder
injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises.
Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to determine if there are differences in muscle activation
ratios between healthy individuals and those with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation
during particular rehabilitation exercises (Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier, 2014).

New Zealand And India Trade Agreement Essay
INTRODUCTION:
New Zealand and India are big market economies with voracious need to expand. They are trying to
expand and strengthen their foundation in International market and maximize the benefits from it.
They are promoting the competitiveness and sustainable development of their economies and welfare
and prosperity of their people eventually improving their positions in global economy. Efforts are
being put in by both these countries at multilateral and regional levels to promote trade and economic
liberalization on their economic and political relationship. In the year 2007, the government foreign
officials of both these countries agreed to negotiate a Free Trade Agreement (FTA)/.
New Zealand and India share a positive and longstanding bilateral relationship. Despite strong growth
in the past, the bilateral trade and economic relationship is currently under potential. Both the
economies are complimentary to each other and there is a considerable potential to increase the
economic relations and bilateral trade. Once the FTA effectively addresses the current barriers to trade
and tariffs then there should be considerable improvement in the trade relationship for both the
countries.

Tubman: her life battle of ending slavery
If you hear the dogs keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there s shouting
after you keep going. Don t ever stop. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going. Was once said by
Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman started out on a farm till she escaped and became free. During her

A Research On Computer Use Policy
Computer Use Policy
Establishing a policy to maximize the productivity of employees while safeguarding the institution s
property is important in creating a safe computing environment. By investing time in developing a
policy that will guide users to properly conduct the use of computer equipment while participation in
ethical and moral conduct is essential in every workplace. Computer use does not only affect
employees and administrators but anyone who engages in its use, including students.
Introduction
The advancement of technology and the use of computers today have opened many doors to a world
of information via the internet. With such resources available to us, it comes to no surprise that there is
a need to develop a policy regarding its use. While technology can be a useful resource in school as
well as the workplace, establishing rules and regulations is essential in maintaining a healthy school
and workplace environment. Computer networks rely on the safe use of computers in order to
maintain an active service to all those who are connected to share and obtain information. Computer
use policies are generally in place to help both the user and network administrator keep up with the
demands of maintaining a computer network. Using computers inappropriately can have devastating
consequences due to viruses and privacy invasion. School administrators may also have concerns

Genetically Modified Foods Argument Essay
One of the main concerns of today s generation is health. Many people are concerned with staying fit,
which means working out and eating healthy. Currently, today s generation is at a crossroad between
what is considered healthy and the price of being healthy. The biggest concern revolves around
Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. GMOs are scientifically modified foods or hormones used
to increase food production and reduce the number of pesticides and disease a crop or organism may
be susceptible to. So what is the big concern? Consumers are wary of eating the unknown. Many are
scared to eat GMOs due to an irrational fear of disease. Consumers tend to overreact about Genetically
Modified foods without truly understanding the purpose of GMOs. GMOs make up the many of the
foods we eat today. In fact, Barlett Steele reports that about 90 percent of soybeans, the main
ingredient in almost all the foods we eat, are genetically modified (p.821). Genetically modified seeds
are also present in the foods farm animals eat. The main producer of genetically modified seeds,
Monsanto, has made seeds that are resistant to a pesticide from the brand name Roundup. Roundup

In animals, GMOs can be found in cows in the form of artificial hormones. Dairy cows are often
injected with a genetically modified hormone to encourage milk production. This chemical, rBGH is

metabolism and increases the cows chance of early death (Barlett Steele). This raises many debates
about artificial hormones. While these hormones do not affect humans, cows are severely affected and
injecting them with these hormones can be considered animal abuse. Ultimately, this debate is settled
by the consumers. Dairy farmers label their milk and it is up to the consumer to decide if they want to

contains THC. THC changes how the brain works and gives the user a high that relieves many

place, but has to be kept in heat. Marijuana is from a naturally grown plant so why not be able to use it

eating ten raw potatoes can result in a toxic response...It is physically impossible to eat enough
marijuana to induce death. (Young, Francis 1) Obviously if alcohol and cigarettes can be sold,
marijuana can be too.
A massive number of people who smoke marijuana would be willing to pay just to smoke, resulting in
making profit. The number of people globally who had used cannabis in 2008 is estimated between
129 and 191 million, or 2.9 percent to 4.3 percent of the world s population ages fifteen to sixty four.
(World Drug Report 9) Pot smokers are willing to pay to smoke while the drug is illegal, so they

Sane or Insane? That is the question, and only the author Henry James knew the answer. There has
been a lot of speculation about The Turn of the Screw, and what makes it so interesting is that Henry
James never tells the reader if the ghosts are real or if the governess is sane or insane. That leaves the
interpretation of the governess mental state up to the reader. The governess is the one that tells most of
the story, and in my opinion, she proves herself to be very unreliable and, therefore, insane. The
reasons why I think the governess was insane are as follows. First, the governess is the only one in the

Ethnic Conflict In The Bosnian Genocide
Bosnia is a complicated country: three religions, three nations and those others . Nationalism is strong
in all three nations; in two of them there are a lot of racism, chauvinism, separatism; and now we are
supposed to make a state out of that ( Alija Izetbegovic Quote ). This quote clearly reflects the
Bosnian ethnic conflict. It states seemingly that there is a lot of racism between each ethics and they
want their own state. The ethnic conflict occurred in a really long time since Bosnian separated from
Yugoslavia. Then, there is Bosnian Genocide that took place between 1992 and 1995. The Bosnian
Genocide was the conflict between Serbs and Bosnian Muslims, the ethnic conflict, was stopped by
the NATO and United Nation.
Bosnia had the ethnic conflict that continued from the Yugoslavia, The Socialist Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia was one of the more liberal communist regimes, led by the enigmatic dictator Josip Broz
Tito (Krkljes, Sandro). After Tito died, the ethnic conflicts started to raise. The main ethnic groups that
fought each other were Serbs, Bosnian Muslims, and Croats. The Bosnian genocide involved two
main groups: Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. The conflict between these two ethnic groups were
increasing the damage by Serbian, who was supported the Serbs because of the nation. At that time,

this genocide, people should love and respect the nation as everyone in the same country. It is not
about he is Serbs or she is Bosnian Muslim, but it is about they are Bosnian. The victims must be

A Brief Note On Coronary Heart Of Diabetic Patients
Coronary Revascularisation in Diabetic Patients
Introduction
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) increases the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) by two to four folds,
which may manifest as a silent myocardial infarct in diabetic patients. It is therefore of no surprise that
ischaemic coronary artery disease is responsible for ¾ of diabetes related deaths. The pathophysiology
of atherosclerosis differs greatly in patients with diabetes, resulting in a more progressive and
accelerated form of vascular disease. Revascularisation is required to reverse the damage, however
studies have shown that DM acts as a strong risk factor for restenosis following successful angioplasty
or coronary stenting. Therefore, choosing the most optimal revascularisation ... Show more content on

Revenue Cycle
AUDITING THE REVENUE CYCLE
Audit procedures associated with the revenue cycle is the main point in this report. Basically, it is
divided into three sections. First, it begins with a review of alternative technologies used in both
legacy and modern system. The focus is on the key operational task performed under each
technological environment. The second section discusses the revenue cycle audit objectives, controls
and test of controls that an auditor would perform to gather evidence needed to limit the scope, timing
and extent of substantive tests. The last section describes revenue cycle substantive tests in relation to
audit objectives.

In our system, the credit authorization copy of the sales order is sent to the credit department for
approval. The returned approval triggers the release of the other sales order copies simultaneously to
various departments. The credit copy is filed in the customer open order file until the transaction is
complete.
3. Processing Shipping Orders The final step is the processing of shipping orders. The sales
department sends the stock release copy of the sale order to the warehouse. After picking the stock, the
clerk initials the stock release copy to indicate that the order is complete and accurate. The clerk then
adjusts the stock records to reflect the reduction in inventory. Updating the inventory accounting
records is an automated procedure that will be discussed later.
Batch processing system using sequential files Automated procedures This is an automated operation.
The computer system described here is an example of a legacy system that employs the sequential file
structure for its accounting records. Both tapes and disks can be used as the physical storage medium
for such system. However the use of tapes has declined considerably in recent years. Most
organizations that still use sequential files store them on disks that are permanently connected it the
computer system and require no human intervention.
The following are the main points of batch processing system using sequential files Automated
procedures:

Demand, Supply, Price Ceilings And Price Floors
Demand, Supply, Price Ceilings and Price Floors (1) Using graphical illustrations explain consumer
surplus Consumer surplus can be defined as the difference between the maximum price that a
consumer is willing to pay for a good and what is actually paid for the good. This is measured by the
vertical distance between the demand curve and the price line (2) Describe the following: a. Inferior
Good An Inferior Good can be easily described as good decreases in demand as consumer income
rises. (e.g. No Name cereals cheap frozen dinners) b. Giffen Good A Giffen good is a special type of
Inferior good and can be described as one where when prices raises so does the demand for the good.
(e.g. When the price of basic white bread increase and you cannot afford to buy whole wheat bread,
you have to buy the white bread at the higher price. c. Veblen Good A Veblen Good is a good which is
similar to a Giffen Good and is also known as a snob effect . A Veblen good can therefore be defined
as a good where when price rises so does demand. This is so because people tend to think the higher
the price the better the quality. (e.g. Designer Clothes) (3) Distinguish between price ceilings and price
floors Price Ceiling and Price Floor are two types of price control mechanisms. Price Ceiling is the
maximum price of a good or service which is determined by the government (e.g. Old Age Pension).
Price Floor is the opposite which means it is simply the minimum

Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe Summary
For this summer reading, I chose to read Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie
Flag. The book is set in Alabama; it is mostly set in the early 1900s to the late 1980s. While in the
early 1920s, this was the time of the Great Depression, a time where poverty and racism were well
known. The story is told in both present, from the 1920 s 1940 s, when the events were occurring, and
past tense, when Ninny Threadgoode retold the events to Evelyn Couch, in the 1980 s. Fried Green
Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe begins with The Weems Weekly introducing the opening of the
cafe ran by Ruth Jamison and Idgie Threadgoode. Then, Ninny Threadgoode and Evelyn Couch meet
in the visitors lounge in a nursing home. Mrs. Threadgoode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But like always there will be those who are immune to your poison . The meaning behind it, is it is
about bullying. Instead of just saying bullying, I made it into a metaphor by calling it a plague. The
bully always looking for a victim but there are always some that ignore them, and in this case, being
immune to them. My second quote is, Trapped in my own personal hell, screaming for help, trapped in
my body. No one ever noticed, never gave a second glance. As you watched, I sobbed in the night.
fighter , they say. Poor little girl , all words never action . The meaning behind this has 2 meanings,
the first is a medical condition called Locked in Syndrome. This is a condition resulting from a stroke
that damages part of the brainstem. With that, the body and most facial muscles are paralyzed but
consciousness remains and the ability to perform some eye movements. It practically is a personal hell
with awareness of what is happening in your environment. The second meaning ties with the first, that
on the outside someone pretends that they re ok. When in reality they are not, no one notices that it s a
charade that they put up. I mixed both of them to create a mood of loneliness and wanting someone to
notice they are not

The Usage Of Visual Aids
Prophet Muhammad ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ was the greatest teacher to have ever lived. Today s methods of
teaching can be seen in many of the Prophet s ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ sayings and actions. One such method
was the use of repetition in order to reinforce the important details of what is being taught. Another
method that is used regularly and effectively by teachers is the use of visual aids. A third method that
we use today that is from the Prophet ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ is the usage of analogies to help the listener
understand better. The Prophet ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ was the best example to mankind and we should strive
to be like him.
Repetition is a method that we see often in many of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬.
One example of his use of repetition is in the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ‫عنه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫رضي‬‎
. He said, A
man came to the Prophet and said, O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of
my good companionship? The Prophet (‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫)صلى‬ said: Your mother. The man said, Then who?
The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, Then who? The Prophet said: Then your
mother. The man asked again, Then who? The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, 2706)
He ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ repeated your mother three times to show the importance of respecting her because
of how much hardship she went through for her child and didn t expect anything in return. Just as the
Prophet ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ used repetition as an

Imagery In The Raven
The Poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a timeless, and one of the most read, poems in history.
It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of the ways that
Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the story. Throughout
history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an Eagle, who symbolizes
freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how birds bring a sense of good to
a story. Although, I think the Raven brings a sense of sorrow, or loneliness to the story.
In the Raven it states,

In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is distraught
over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his chamber door ( Poe 4)
which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber door at such an hour. He is
filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for whatever he could dream was at
his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his chamber door on top of a statue of the
Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For the symbolism of the raven, the narrator
sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The
symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and magical arts and gaining and receiving secret
knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the
presence of a mystical bird on his chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of
the raven to perch on top of it and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. But there could also
be other reasons why the raven could seem scary and

Premier Investment s Gross Profit Margin has increased slightly from 59.09% in 2010 to 59.51% in
2011. The increase is not huge, but the margin is pretty good, and it reflects that the company keeps
the cost under control. On the other hand, the Gross Profit Margin for David Jones has decreased from
39.73% in 2010 to 39.11% in 2011. This decrease is not very huge, but the overall figure reflects not a
very profitable condition. These margins are well below the profitability of Premier Investments. This
means that David Jones has a relatively poor cost control. Net Profit Margin The Net Profit Margin is
a more refined measure of profitability. Gross Margin reflects half of the costs, and does not include
the effect of operating costs. However, net profit margin includes the operating costs, as well (Vance
2003). Premier Investments Net Profit Margin has decreased from 16.11% in 2010 to 9.54% in 2011.
This is a significant decrease in profitability, since the net margin has decrease by over 5%. It reflects
that the company is unable to control its operating expenses. David Jones Limited, on the other hand,
had a net Profit Margin of 12.11% in 2010, which increased to 12.62% in 2011. The increase is not
very huge, but the overall Net Profit Margin is

Drunk Driving Impaired
Driving while impaired Drinking and driving obviously comes with multiple problems and
consequences, but with problems, there is always a solution. It s only been in the past 15 years that we
as a whole have recognized the dangers that come while you are drinking and driving (Cooper, n.d).
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that this year there has people 500,000 people,
or one person every other minute will get hurt in a alcohol related accident. 10,000 will die due to
drunk drivers, which is about one death every hour. Around 50% of car crashes that lead to death are
caused to alcohol (Cooper, n.d.). Michael Scott from Drunk Drivers says that about 1/5 of people have
admitted to drinking and driving at least once in their lives and 94% of accidents occur after 3am

A person who has been drinking can not only harm others, but can also harm themselves very bad and
in most cases end up in jail as a result. About 60% of high school students admit to drinking on an
everyday basis or weekends and about 12% of that admit to have been driving while they were
drinking or just shortly after (Driving impaired, 1). This number is ridiculously high. It proves that
teens are harming themselves just as much as others because they are drinking before their body is
done developing. Drinking in this process can seriously hurt them in different ways. It almost doubles
the odds of them getting liver cancer (Rethinking drinking, 16). About every other minute someone is
injured during a drinking accident. Almost all the time the person who is in most danger is not the
person drinking but the people on the other

While cyber bullying is relatively young in comparison to bullying and hazing, it is no less vicious in nature, and like the Internet, it continues to evolve over time ( National , n.d., p. 1). Policies and procedures need to be continually updated as technology and the way students communicate rapidly change. There are countless examples of social media used to bully students. In a case in Iowa, Kiana Phelps was cyber bullied because of her success in track (Naughton, 2016). According to Naughton (2016), jealous students posted Social media photos of her working out accompanied with rude and sarcastic comments. The students went so far as to claim online that Phelps only gets attention because her older sister had died of anorexia (Naughton, 2016). Obviously, this situation became personal and very hurtful for Phelps but the school board did not take any action (Naughton, 2016). Another bully case started in a high school locker room. According to the victim, Sophia Dama, Victoria Neuman, took cell phone videos of two of the girls, Brianna Kopp and Jenifer Kempka, sitting on the toilet. Sophia Dama later told her father that Neuman took a picture of her dressing in a stall (Richmond, 2016). Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true message, bettering the state and the greater good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions, when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and The Discourses. Though some proteins work individually, most work in groups to participate in some biochemical event. Examples of these processes include protein protein interaction networks, metabolome, correlation/co expression values, synthetic lethality, and signal transduction (Cooper, lecture). The study of proteins that work together can allow a greater understanding of cellular processes. New pathways, proteins, or systems can be identified via network analysis. From start to finish, each and every book had a deeper meaning than I, before, could possibly resolve from the text. The exposure I had to this deeper level of thinking forever changed the way I see literature. Less about what than why , Literature distinguishes a meaningful story from another. While what makes a book good is different for everyone, what makes a story meaningful is what it teaches. Each book I read this year had a story and logic behind it. Every story was real enough to have actually happened because the plot points are supported with real speculation backed up by the nature of humanity. I, personally, have never gone as deep into literature as I have this year, giving me a new appreciation for the genius behind the speculation these books present. ... At the time, the book did not speak to me in any way, but now looking back, what speaks to me the most is Sarah s new perception on identity. She asks herself, can a tree hate the roots from which it sprang? Who gave me the fire, the passion, to push myself up from the dirt? (286). What I know, is eventually they came upon a spot with an eagle sitting on a cactus with a serpent wrapped in it s legs, that s where Tenochtitlan would be built. Montezuma was their leader, he was fierce and strict, but at the same time kind hearted and understanding, but nobody mistook his kindness for weakness, except for the Spanish. • 29. Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human body has to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we have all grown accustomed to. When the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscle activation, and therefore stability and function, is theoretically altered. Many shoulder rehabilitation programs focus on restoring proper coordination of these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward rotation. Until recently, however, there has not been much research supporting the relationship between muscle activation ratios and shoulder injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises. Demand, Supply, Price Ceilings And Price Floors Demand, Supply, Price Ceilings and Price Floors (1) Using graphical illustrations explain consumer surplus Consumer surplus can be defined as the difference between the maximum price that a consumer is willing to pay for a good and what is actually paid for the good. This is measured by the vertical distance between the demand curve and the price line (2) Describe the following: a. Inferior Good An Inferior Good can be easily described as good decreases in demand as consumer income rises. (e.g. No Name cereals cheap frozen dinners) b. Giffen Good A Giffen good is a special type of Inferior good and can be described as one where when prices raises so does the demand for the good. (e.g. When the price of basic white bread increase and you cannot afford to buy whole wheat bread, you have to buy the white bread at the higher price. c. Veblen Good A Veblen Good is a good which is similar to a Giffen Good and is also known as a snob effect . A Veblen good can therefore be defined as a good where when price rises so does demand. This is so because people tend to think the higher the price the better the quality. (e.g. Designer Clothes) (3) Distinguish between price ceilings and price floors Price Ceiling and Price Floor are two types of price control mechanisms. The book is set in Alabama; it is mostly set in the early 1900s to the late 1980s. While in the early 1920s, this was the time of the Great Depression, a time where poverty and racism were well known. But like always there will be those who are immune to your poison . The meaning behind it, is it is about bullying. Instead of just saying bullying, I made it into a metaphor by calling it a plague. The bully always looking for a victim but there are always some that ignore them, and in this case, being immune to them. My second quote is, Trapped in my own personal hell, screaming for help, trapped in my body. No one ever noticed, never gave a second glance. As you watched, I sobbed in the night. fighter , they say. Poor little girl , all words never action . The meaning behind this has 2 meanings, the first is a medical condition called Locked in Syndrome. This is a condition resulting from a stroke that damages part of the brainstem. With that, the body and most facial muscles are paralyzed but consciousness remains and the ability to perform some eye movements. It practically is a personal hell with awareness of what is happening in your environment. The second meaning ties with the first, that on the outside someone pretends that they re ok. When in reality they are not, no one notices that it s a charade that they put up. I mixed both of them to create a mood of loneliness and wanting someone to notice they are not ... • 45. The Usage Of Visual Aids Prophet Muhammad ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ was the greatest teacher to have ever lived. Today s methods of teaching can be seen in many of the Prophet s ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ sayings and actions. One such method was the use of repetition in order to reinforce the important details of what is being taught. Another method that is used regularly and effectively by teachers is the use of visual aids. A third method that we use today that is from the Prophet ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ is the usage of analogies to help the listener understand better. The Prophet ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ was the best example to mankind and we should strive to be like him. Repetition is a method that we see often in many of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬. One example of his use of repetition is in the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ‫عنه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫رضي‬‎ . He said, A man came to the Prophet and said, O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet (‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫)صلى‬ said: Your mother. The man said, Then who? The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, Then who? The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, Then who? The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, 2706) He ‫وسلم‬ ‫عليه‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫صلى‬ repeated your mother three times to show the importance of respecting her because of how much hardship she went through for her child and didn t expect anything in return. • 46. Imagery In The Raven The Poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a timeless, and one of the most read, poems in history. It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of the ways that Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the story. Throughout history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an Eagle, who symbolizes freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how birds bring a sense of good to a story. Although, I think the Raven brings a sense of sorrow, or loneliness to the story. In the Raven it states, But the Raven still beguiling my sad fancy into smiling Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust, and door; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is distraught over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his chamber door ( Poe 4) which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber door at such an hour. He is filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for whatever he could dream was at his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his chamber door on top of a statue of the Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For the symbolism of the raven, the narrator sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and magical arts and gaining and receiving secret knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the presence of a mystical bird on his chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of the raven to perch on top of it and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. But there could also be other reasons why the raven could seem scary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
