Vo2 Max Lab Report
Introduction: VO2 max is the maximum oxygen intake during a high intensity exercise. The test is
typically done on a treadmill, or cycle ergometer. The VO2 max test reflects the aerobic fitness of the
test subject and the endurance the subject has during prolonged exercise. The subject who are fit
usually have a greater VO2 max, and can exercise for longer periods of time than other who are not
physically fit. Pro athletes usually have a higher VO2 max because they train hard in order to be
physically fit.
Purpose: The purpose of the VO2 max test is to measure the aerobic fitness of the test subject in order
to determine their fitness level. The test is done during a high intensity work out to determine their
oxygen intake. The test also involved taking their heart rate during the test at different times.
Methods:
Treadmill test In this test the test subject will get on the treadmill for a slow walk with the speed
ranging from 3.0 4.5 mph. the slow walk will last four minutes after those four minutes the subject
heartrate will be recorded. The heart rate will determine the speed the subject will walk the next four
minutes. In the second part the subject will walk for four minutes but the elevation on the treadmill
will go up 10%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

women and 1.5kp for men. Once the resistance is added the time will begin. The subject will pedal 3
minutes at 50 rpm at the tree minute mark the subject heart rate will be recorded. Depending on the
heart rate the resistance will increase or decrease. The subject will keep on pedaling at the five minute
mark the subject heart rate will be recorded. Then at the six minute mark the subject heart rate will be
recorded against. There must be a 10 bpm difference between the heart rates, so if it is higher than 10
the subject will keep on pedaling until it is between those

The Great Train Robbery, And The Great Train Robbery
The Western times were times of legends, cowboys, train robberies, and valiant acts of courage. There
are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I wanted to
discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both The Great Train
Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robbery by Andy Thomas convey how the west was a
place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes the train robbery and
how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive, whereas Andy Thomas
emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When the group of train robbers
robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still being intelligent about robbing
the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man at gunpoint right in front of a police
officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked behind the door then they would have been
busted and the robbery would have been compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness
was that they forced everyone out of the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless
because if anyone had seen people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known
something bad was happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For
example when they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The
smartest thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all
the passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed
down and would increase the chance of them getting caught.
These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities they both
wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of violence to get the job
done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of the day while the art work
did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at the train yard while the
artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show how the west

The Tell Tale Heart Suspense
Have you ever read The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe? It is a short story about a man whose
mental state deteriorates over time. The narrator loves the old man, however he has a deep hatred
toward the old man s vulture like eye. This essay will be explaining the ways Poe keeps his readers in
suspense. Edgar Allan Poe uses time, repetition, and descriptive language to set the pace, tone, and
mood. The first way Edgar Allan Poe keeps the reader in suspense by the conception of time. Poe
makes time move two different way: slow and fast in certain parts of the story. A sluggish part in the
story is demonstrated in this quotation: I undid the lantern cautiously oh so cautiously. A
demonstration of the time being accelerated follows: It grew quicker and quicker, louder and louder
every instant. These examples cause the reader to read carefully. When the pace picks up the reader
reads faster as if they are hearing the man talk. This is how Poe distinguished time. ... Show more

Edgar repeats the word stealthily in the following sentence: So I opened it you cannot imagine how
stealthily, stealthily until at length, a single dim ray, like the thread of a spider, shot from out the
crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. This repetition proves to the reader who the man s mental state is
deteriorating. In the next sentence, the word very is repeated. I moved it slowly very, very slowly so
that I might not disturb the old man s sleep. This example of repetition shows the reader how careful
the narrator was while moving the lantern. These are a few ways Edgar Allan Poe used repetition to

How Energy And The United State s Global Influence On The...
The Unites States and The People s Republic of China have been ever growing superpowers on the
world scene since the last century. Their economies, military and social policies have been models and
adapted by other nations on Earth and their present day influences in these same criteria seem to have
no end. The driving force behind China s industrialization and the United State s global influence are
one in the same; Energy. Both these nations have been fortunate enough through their geological
locations to be able to find and harvest different sources of energy to propel their governments,
economies, militaries, ect and with the help of harvesting the ingenuity of their respective populations
to drive the discovery of more efficient and productive technologies in aspects of economics, home
life and energy. This essay will go on to illustrate what energy sources either nations use and why they
use them, what sources of energy they are trying to further develop and what sources of energy they
import as well as export. Finally, We will touch upon the energy relationship between the US and
China and compare this relationship through one or more international relations theories.
The United States The United States is a federal republic and one of the longest continuous
democracies in the world. With a population of approximately 325 million, the United State is both the
second largest producer and consumer of overall energy (China being the first). According to the

Overcoming My Fears To Becoming The Fear Of College Education
many students, and does not discriminate based on age, racial, career goals or any other observable
demographic characteristic. These students show an exceptional amount of fear and uncertainty about
their futures and how they will achieve their goals through the college educational system. Regularly,
students fears are created from past experiences of failure in school, which students viewed as
objective evidence of their academic inadequacy (25). This reading has helped to overcome my fears.
After reading how students felt about beginning the college life even when English might be perfect
for them made me realize I am not the only afraid of English. Last summer, I signed up for public
speaking at the Modesto Junior College even though I knew my English was not very good. I would
have preferred to take any other class to start my American college experience, but this one was the
only available to me at the time and essential to my future nursing degree. It was so terrifying the first
day of class when have to speak in front of my classmates. After seeing the syllabus, I was completely
sure I could not pass the class since there were so many speeches and other work required over just six
short weeks. When the professor said the first assignment was to prepare a speech for over ten
minutes, I felt completely lost on how I would to prepare the research, the outline and the slides and

George Babbitt s Characters And Conformist Social Roles
Secondly, the characters experience conformist social roles. George Babbitt conforms to the social
role of being a father and husband. In Babbitt s society it is expected for men to be the bread winner of
the family and also to be faithful to his wife even if they are out of love. Babbitt is experiencing the
social stress from conforming to appear the best possible husband and father he can be. George is out
of love with his wife. He met Myra Babbitt when he was in college and he did not even love her to
begin with. He believed he should marry her because she was a honest and a good wife (Lewis 81)
material. Most men and women married either married for money or that they felt obligated to marry
someone to because it is expected of them.
Their marriage grew to become boring which tends to happen in most marriages. Instead of George
leaving Myra he stays, because he feels it is his moral obligation to do so. Hence, he is out of love it
leads him to temptation. Babbitt imagines a fairy child (Lewis 5). He uses the fairy child as his escape
form reality. He knows he cannot morally cheat on his wife, therefore he imagines a life without her
with other women. The first woman he imagines being with is McGoun (describe her from the book).
The second woman he imagines being with is Eunice (describe her from the book). The third woman
is (look her up). All these women resemble what he wishes his wife could be like, McGoun is a
worker, Eunice is young, and the last one is lively, Myra is none of these things. Myra has the social
life of being a housewife. She plans dinners, she reads magazine, her children do not pay attention,
and her husband does not love her. While George is going through struggle of being faithful, he
eventually gives up and cheats on Myra. The social role is his playing is such a burden on him that he
cracks under pressure and does not care what people think of his scandalous ways. While he is having
this newfound revolution, Myra is also having her own revolution. She becomes more lively and
appears younger and George falls in love with her again. George discovers that he is allowed to have
his type of fun without his wife but also be able to take care and love Myra which is social role as a

Theodore Roosevelt, Bull Moose, Rough Rider, And The Lion
Theodore Roosevelt: Teddy , Bull Moose , Rough Rider , and The Lion . These were some of the
nicknames of our 26th president of the United States. Theodore Roosevelt was known to be tough and
couragous just like a lion. However, Roosevelt was a weakling during his early years. Because of his
severe asthma, he was home schooled and constantly had to travel to many different countries.
Because of his asthma, he often stayed home and spent his days reading. With the knowledge gained
from reading and learning, he later got accepted to Harvard. But, Roosevelt was soon faced with
another challenge. His father, who he looked up to, the most, had passed away. Following his father s
traumatic death, Roosevelt quit Harvard. These events taught Roosevelt many life lessons that helped
him in the near future. Although Theodore Roosevelt had accomplished a lot during his political years,
Roosevelt s childhood and early life is superior to the other years because it made him into who we
know him as today. To begin, Theodore Roosevelt s love for reading at a young age shaped him into
an intellectual. Theodore Roosevelt read an abundant amount of books from a young age. The
knowledge gained from reading became a foundation for many of Roosevelt s accomplishments. In a
biography of Theodore Roosevelt, it says, He also became more of a person by reading omnivorously
from an early age and using what he read to look into the future (Dalton 9, 10). Roosevelt applied all

Advantages Of A Feather Pillow
Choosing the most comfortable feather pillow
Getting a good night s sleep is an important part of maintaining not only your physical health, but also
your mental health. Experts have established that people who sleep inadequately have a weaker
immune system than those who have adequate sleep. Hence getting a good night s sleep becomes
important. Having a pillow that allows you to rest your head in comfort will allow you to sleep
adequately and comfortably. For those seeking a fluffy, soft pillow filled with natural materials, a
feather pillow fits these requirements in full. Considering the vast majority of feather pillow types and
manufactures, it gives one a headache just to select a pillow good enough to guarantee a good night s
sleep. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Down
Pillows come stuffed with either feathers or down, or a mixture of the two. Down is the cotton like
insulation underneath the hard feathers that keeps a bird cozy, comfy and warm. These feathers are
very soft and fluffy, as compared to the bird s outer feathers which are harder with sharp quills. The
best feather pillows hence contain 100%. Generally, pure down pillows are of higher quality and
comfort than other feather pillows and tend to stay comfy longer. Higher quality pillows come with a
warranty from the manufacturer, so you ll give a peace of your mind (and even get a replacement!) if
your pillow doesn t function well enough.
The Fluff Factor and pillow Fluffiness
How fluffy a pillow is depends on the Fill Power of the pillow. According to the Down Feather
Company Fill power tells us the amount of space that an ounce of the down will fill in cubic inches
inside the pillow. A higher fill power indicates that the pillow contains down from a more mature bird.
This down is larger than that from a younger bird. Larger down feathers mean more loft or height to
the pillow.
Typically :
ļƒ˜ Higher fill power = Greater fluffiness
ļƒ˜ Higher fill power= Greater

Harold And Maude Essay
Films are almost always centred around people, or aliens or animals with human like qualities. The
purpose of film is storytelling, and the best of storytellers allow their listeners to see the world in a
different way, to put themselves into the shoes of a character in the story, to insert themselves where
they see fit. Harold and Maude is no different. Despite its age, the 1971 cult classic Harold and Maude
reaches out for that part of us that we all know is a little odd, that part of us that we want to hide but at
the same time know needs to be addressed for the uniqueness of our personal selves. What s most
interesting about the film is how it documents transitions between characters, not just through the plot
but through the cinematography ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Across different cultures, different colours represent different things. Because of how American this
movie is, Harold and Maude take on a north American colour scheme when trying to represent ideas
on screen. At the beginning of the movie, dominant colours are black and white, representing
simplicity and death. For the first 30 minutes of the film, there is barley a hint of any bright colour to
be seen, aside from the white walls of Harold s psychiatrist s office. Here, black is the obvious symbol
of death which encompasses the main points of the movie and becomes easily associated with Harold,
the boy obsessed with death (the white, instead of representing purity in its traditional sense, can
represent sanitization or a sort of cleansing that his psychiatrist is trying to impose upon Harold).
Clothing wise, Maude s outfits are either stand out colours like those she wears to funerals, or earthy
tones, which could have been forth with the intention that Maude is one with the earth, as her
character is routinely trying to help the planet, for example when she would protest in her youth and in
the moving of the tree from the city to a forest. Of course, because of Maude, Harold abandons his
darkened suits and ties and adopts a more youthful, colourful wardrobe, his clothes reflect him coming

In the late 18th century some doctors noticed that being dirty and lacking sanitation increased the rate
of infection. It would take 50 years for true progress to start being made in the antisepsis technology
as a result of Louis Pasteur s development of the germ theory. Following this Lister invented a
carbolic acid spray, which would be sprayed on wounds and pumped into the air surrounding an
operation. Following this many layers of bandages were put on the wounds. Carbolic Acid and simply
washing one s hands was the extent of antiseptics and sterilization at the time of Joseph Lister (
Antiseptics ). Next, antiseptics and sterilization have improved greatly since the times of Joseph
Lister. Antibiotics have been developed that can combat infection from within the body, and surgeries
and operation have also become safer due to enhanced hygiene. A much larger arsenal of antiseptics
have additionally been developed such as hydrogen peroxide, boric acid, iodine, and formaldehyde.
Using heat to disinfect materials has also become extremely popular and can be used to sterilize a

Accountability in Nursing
Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to
accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable
level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is
defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the
context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). This is in reference to the nurse s legal liability for the actions
taken and patient outcomes. Accountability and responsibility are different, as responsibility belongs
to the person doing the task and accountability belongs to the person who assigned the task. The nurse
is both accountable for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the legal liability the practitioner owes to the patient. By accepting the responsibility to
perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard
of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse
should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This
means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a
HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the
task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by
professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating
duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom
he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient
attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse
delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A
nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. Such accountability as
underlined by common law helps promote safety of all patients. Accountability to the profession is
one other important aspect that provides an

The twenty first century has made massive improvements regarding technology. The internet plays a

adolescents intellectual and social development.
Document A bestows a marvelous example on how gaming addiction can harm one intellectually. The
days of Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario Kart, and Power Rangers have disappeared and been replaced
with Multi User Dungeon games such as LambdaMOO . This game includes adventures and is more
socially oriented; gamers are able to become characters and travel through quests in attempt to win.
Adolescents are spending time playing video games rather than studying for tests, the total amount of
hours played per week range from 60 to 70 hours. Adolescents prioritize video games, like
LambdaMOO, over education and decide to play all night and miss their morning classes. These
gamers do not meet their family s expectations and their GPA slowly falls lower and lower. They

Ethical Implications of Assisted Reproductive Technology...
Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is a measure used to treat infertility where both sperm and
eggs are handled, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) the most common form has been used since 1981 in the
United States. ART may enable individuals who were previously not able to conceive and deliver a
child the ability to do so. In 2009 the Suleman Octuplets were born using the IVF technique to a single
mother who also had six other children under the same methods. The Suleman Octuplets and their

Inequality amongst children concerning education
I. Define and explain the unresolved issue (this definition will be the same for each group member).
***Be sure to make your research focus as specifically related to your volunteering as possible.
A. Access to education is among the basic human rights and everyone should have the same
opportunities. No one should be discriminated against because of their background, religion, gender or
age. Inequality in education is connected to major problems in our society. The Pakistan constitution
has an article called Article 25A. Which is the Right to education. It states that the government of
Pakistan is responsible for providing free and compulsory education. Unfortunately, the government
only goes so far. Low budget and funding for education are main struggles on the way to educational
development and expansion of student s education. Pakistan has the world s second highest number of
children out of school, reaching 8.3 million in 2012 equivalent to 1 in 12 of the world s out of school
children. My group and I have taken up this unresolved issue in hopes that we volunteering will
change the lives of those who are directly impacted. We can t fix the issue by this one act but we can

Legalize Euthanasia And Compassionate Society Dies Too By...
Paul Kelly s opinion piece Legalise euthanasia, and compassionate society dies too (October 1st 2016)
is about his view of how it should not be legalised. This piece argues all the problems that will follow
if euthanasia is legalised using statistics, rhetorical questions, emotive language, expert advice,
repetition and anecdotes. The use of rhetorical questions really enquires if the government had taken
everything into consideration and looked at all the factors before making the final decision. The writer
starts of by stating If you sanction killing for end of life pain relief, how can you deny this right to
people in pan who aren t dying? . The writer uses similar comparisons to show the minor details in
this all and that they cannot satisfy everyone s needs. They then continue by stating four more
examples of this. Using rhetorical questions to show the comparisons makes the people think about
how this will effect on someone s life and that it not everyone will ultimately get what they want. You
can also include emotive language into rhetorical questions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

example of repetition, as the word your is repeating every time. Using repetition is very captivating as

Children Are Playing With A Child
While children are playing, who will a child prefer to play with, will a child interact more with a child
who is the same gender, but a different age or with a child who is the same age, but different gender. I
will also see how much a child will interact with another child who is the opposite gender and a
different age. That is, the research question I am trying to solve. This is important to know because the
more comfortable the child is with the other child they are playing with, the happier the child will be

This theory was also made by Jean Piaget. During the interaction time, some elements from the

Piaget. Living in Rockville, Indiana, there is only one park available called Beechwood Park. It s a
large park with a pool, baseball/softball fields, a picnic area, a basketball court, and of course a
playground. The playground consists of many monkey bars, swing sets, slides, and other things to
climb on, such as a dinosaur, a play house, and a fire truck. The dinosaur and play house are basic
monkey bar type structures, but the fire truck offers many things like a balance beam, steering wheels,
and extra benches to take a team of firemen. However, finding a day that had the amount of children

Dry Creek Station Research Paper
Dry Creek station was likely built in the spring of 1860 by Bolivar Roberts and his crew. It was one of
the last stations to be built by the Pony Express. It is located four miles north of Highway 50, in
Lander County, Nevada. The station was used by the Pony Express and Overland Stage as a home
station (historic). The Pony Express riders would go from Dry Creek westward to the north
(expedition.com). The riders had a high chance of getting attacked by the Native Americans and this
proved to be true at Dry Creek. They had early problems with the Indians, which caused an attack on
the workers of the station on May 21, 1860. On this day William Streeper, a carrier of heavy mail and

Bonobo Research Paper
Anthropology 101
BONOBOS
Species Origination and Geographical Distribution The bonobo is the most recently discovered great
ape in modern times. It was revealed in 1929 by German anatomist Ernest Schwarz that a skull once
thought belonging to a juvenile chimpanzee was in fact a new subspecies of chimpanzee known now
as the Pan paniscus, or bonobo. (Waal 6) During the Pleistocene epoch approximately 1.5 million
years ago, the Congo River was formed in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. (San
Diego Zoo 2) The river geographically segregated groups and individual chimpanzees south of the
river resulting in these chimps being reproductively isolated. Allopatric speciation took place as a

Bonobo s are classified within the Genus Pan, Species paniscus. Pan paniscus is commonly referred to
as the pygmy/lesser/dwarf chimpanzee, and gracile ape. The name bonobo is said to be meaningless,
taken from a misspelling on a shipping crate headed to the town of Bolobo in the Democratic Republic
of Congo. (Primate Info Net) On an interesting note, some taxonomists suggest putting both
chimpanzees and bonobo s in the same Genus as humans, Homo, due to genetic similarities in the
species because both are humans closest genetic relatives. (San Diego Zoo 2) (Wildman Et. Al. 2003)
Physical Characteristics Bonobo s display a varied degree of sexual dimorphism, which is a
characteristic specific to either male or female sex. When comparing the two sexes, males are more
muscular and hold an average weight of 95 pounds compared to an average of 82 pounds and a
slighter built female, a 15 percent weight difference between them. Sexual dimorphism is also
apparent in that males possess a unique dental trait, long canines, a feature that females lack. Both
sexes are similar in that neither has a height advantage, averaging 2.3 to 3 feet in height. (Waal 24)
Bonobo s possess long, fine black hair covering most of the body and black colored hands and feet.
Their black faces feature wide, thick walled nostrils and long black facial hair that often covers their
small ears. Their head hair

Nonviolent Protests
We cannot turn on our televisions or get on social media without hearing about recent protests. Some
peaceful and some violent, but what difference do the two make? We all have seen riots and we ve
seen how they can end: a spray of rubber bullets, dogs digging their teeth into screaming people s legs,
and the trashing of public places. We ve seen the sit ins and marches filled with people that have no
fear in holding their signs high and proud. To some violence seems like the only answer, but the
results are not as rewarding nor as long lasting. Although some may believe violence is the only
answer they are turning a blind eye because nonviolent protests are more successful, get more
government support, and gather more civilians around the cause.

February Chrysalides Thinking of Mr. D Dick King The world of Thomas Kinsella s poetry is one
shrouded in darkness and decay, yet frequently relieved by cautiously optimistic moments of insight

There is a darkness here that Kinsella reflects on, one that gives him an insight into the man Mr. D
once was. Dick King is perhaps Kinsella s most poignant (sad) take on the nature of darkness and
decay. For me, it both laments the loss of the titular King, and also celebrates his life. When he thinks
of the dead man, the port experiences feelings of love. The poet personifies death and imagines it
moving through our minds, igniting / Love . Yet there is a darkness in the way Kinsella refers to King.
He calls him a plague something that constantly bothers him. He cannot forget him. Dick King
appears always as an old man to Kinsella, because he only knew him as such: You haunt with the taint
of age . The ghost, however, is a benevolent (kind) one: Kind plague. The poem suggests King s later
years involved suffering. His dread years lay ahead of him, meaning the old man feared getting old
and decaying. The image of Dick King making his wintry bed suggests great loneliness and suffering,
as well as a pragmatic preparation for his decline into death. While the spectres of darkness and decay
are not as overtly present in Model School as Kinsella s other poems, knowledge of them is certainly
forming in the young Kinsella s mind. The poet s religion classes bring him face to face with

theologian. He was born on 13 August 1819, in Ireland, as the youngest son in the eight children of a
very religious Protestant family. His father Gabriel Stokes was the rector of Skreen; and his mother,

The study intended to survey patients with TBI and ARDS, breaking down the connection between
their frequency and seriousness. ARDS aļ¬€ects up to 22% of TBI cases and is a known reason for the
death rate in these patients. During this studies investigation, 36.2% of patients with TBI advanced
with ARDS. It is likely that the high frequency of ARDS in this population of patients with TBI could
be because the seriousness of injury being with only trauma ICU admissions examined. The most
common of TBI is higher among men, with a mean age of 30 years, with motor vehicle accidents as
the cause for the patient s trauma. Alcohol and smoking were also noted to have an association in
regards to the development of ARDS in this study. 12.8% of the patients in this study with TBI, and
9.1% with ARDS had a history or recent encounter with alcohol. Alcohol was also a known culprit to
be associated with motor vehicle accidents, or violence in Brazil. The consumption increases the
chances of ARDS in general. However, in this study, no diļ¬€erences in ARDS incidence between

The Tracker Analysis
The different perspectives create interest and draw us into the experiences of others. The two texts,
The Tracker composed by Rolf De Heer and Bran Nue Dae composed by Rachel Perkins explores this
notion. Both films are evident to the racial discrimination of Aborigines in Australia. The Tracker is a
2002 art house film set in 1922. It is clear that there were no Aboriginal rights and which white
settlement had the greatest control. Bran Nue Dae is a 2009 musical/comedy/drama film set in 1969
about the beginning of Aboriginal rights. The different perspectives are from Colonial/Indigenous
people. The voices were through the role of the characters, the genre, the music and the
cinematography. The Archetypal characters in The Tracker include The Follower, The Fanatic, The
Veteran, The Fugitive and The Tracker. Each character represents a different voice of a group within
society. The voices express the issue of race and racial inequality towards Aboriginals. The three main
archetypal characters involve The Fanatic, The Tracker and The Follower. The Follower represents a
group with a minimum voice. The follower playing the ukulele indicates that he is new to this sort of
work. The Follower learns to have a voice through the events he experienced throughout his journey.
Symbolism involves the burning of the ukulele. This conveys the perspective of the follower towards
what they are doing. The experience leads to him feeling unhappy and wanting to change. This draws
us into his experiences as we feel a strong connection because most of us have gone through this in
life. The Fanatic represents an aggressive and a controlling group. The Fanatic was so excessive with
finding the fugitive that he constantly mistreated the Tracker. Dialogue includes Sorry? You want to
feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for the pack horse. Now there s an innocent victim . This shows that
he was using The Tracker to find the fugitive and which he does not consider his inner emotions. The
audience is drawn to the Fanatic s experiences because his perspective is interesting and is different
compared to the others. We feel a part of the story because we want to stop the Fanatic from doing any
more harm. The Tracker

Applying Economics Using An Example Of Economic Problem...
Section A Question One: a) Define economics using an example of economic problem from your own
life. Economics is the social science concerned with the production and consumption of goods and
services and the analysis of the commercial activities of a society. Economic problem is to match
resources to the unlimited wants and needs. For example: if you have $10 to spend, and you want to
buy a book which costs $10 each and a pencil that costs $1 each. Now buying a book mean the loss of
the benefit that would have been gained from the 10 pencils. b) Outline the steps needed to develop an
economic model. Explain how models help in economic decision making. An Economic model is
defined as a theoretical construct that represents economic processes through a set of variables and a
set of logical or quantitative relationships between the two. The steps needed to develop an economic
model are: 1. Identify the problem 2. Identify stakeholders in the problem 3. Identify alternate
strategies to solve problem 4. Identify resources to implement chosen strategy 5. Implement 6.
Evaluate what was accomplished 7. Modify or Disseminate problem Models help in decision making
as they focus to gain a better understanding of how things work, to observe patterns, and to predict the
results of stimuli. They help to simplify and abstract from observed data, and also serve as a means of
selection of data based on a paradigm of econometric study. b) Construct a Production Possibility

Should Federal Agents Be Allowed For Collect Dna From...
Should Federal Agents be allowed to collect DNA from anyone arrested? This is a controversial issue.
In my opinion, DNA is a very powerful and useful tool because many sex crimes go unsolved because
of lack of evidence, but if federal agents can look in a database where DNA samples are stored and
compare it to anyone who was arrested especially those who committed sex crimes more crimes
would be solved. Many say DNA testing violates suspects rights under the Fourth Amendment of the
Constitution of the United States. DNA testing has toppled the way federal agents gather evidence in
various criminal cases, particularly assault and homicide and thus had an expansive effect on a lot of

Not any law enforcement agent can collect DNA samples.
If federal agents detain and arrest an suspect, they have the power to take DNA from you and to
promptly transfer it to CODIS. In certain states an arrestee may be obligated to give a DNA test. The
DNA Fingerprint Act of 2005 permits states to transfer profiles to CODIS. Eleven states (Alaska,
Arizona, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas,
and Virginia) at present take into consideration automatic DNA collection from people only arrested or
associated with a crime.
Generally the police require a court order to collect DNA unless they have been convicted of a crime.
Under federal law, the government obliges individuals arrested for specific unlawful acts to give DNA
samples. These laws violates the fourth amendment to the U.S. Constitution which ensures the right to
the individuals to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and impacts against unreasonable
searches and seizures.
Pros and Cons

persevere for the afterlife. The Egyptians would remove all of the internal organs, except the heart.

Essay The Side-Effect Effect
The Side Effect Effect There are side effects to almost every action people take. Getting rid of insects
in a home can cause harm to the environment, or even poison pets within the household. Studying for
a test can cause lack of sleep, and ultimately poorer health. Throwing away the remains of an
unfinished dinner plate discards what could have been valuable nutrients for starving children in
Africa. How one determines intentionality of an action has been a controversial topic for many. Joshua
Knobe has conducted experiments for explaining the proper analysis of intentional action, while
Uttich and Lombrozo have conducted experiments exploring the relationship between norms and
mental state ascriptions in terms of intentional actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are more willing to say a side effect occurred intentionally when they interpret that side effect
as bad than they are when that side effect is good. Uttich and Lombrozo also studied the side effect
effect, but explained it differently than Knobe did. They said that the side effect effect, the differences
in ascribed mental states and traits pertaining to intentionality of an action, is due to the side effect s
norm status as opposed to moral status. They named this view the Rational Scientist view. While
Knobe suggested the moral status of a side effect influenced judgments on intentionality, Uttich and
Lombrozo suggested that norm status is sufficient alone in producing the side effect effect.
Specifically, they said that norm violating behavior that outweighs the reason to observe the norm is
more informative in explaining intentionality of side effects compared to norm conforming behavior.
By default, people usually follow the norms, unless some sufficiently strong reason compels them to
violate them. The Rational Scientist view is consistent with the Theory of Mind, in that internal states
support explanation and prediction of behavior, but adds the vital role of norms in those predictions
and explanations; moral norms affect Theory of Mind ascriptions by influencing mental state
ascriptions. A third

Emily Dickinson Recluse
Emily Dickinson was famously known for being a recluse, a questioner of her faith, and having an
interesting poetic form. Throughout her works she displayed themes of immortality, life, and death.
Harold Bloom, a literary critic, once stated her themes were either relatable or inventive for the time
she lived in (Grabner, Hagenbuchle, and Miller 191). These themes crossed over into how she wanted
her writing to be perceived with both her style and technique. She used dramatic dialogic structure and
a constant persona that always questioned her existence. Dickinson s style was mostly influenced by
her, willingness to serve, her different point of view of nature, extreme self discipline, and the
contemplation of immortality (Connors 92). Although she was able to perfectly master the art of
poetry, her life as recluse deeply affected the process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harold Bloom, an American literary critic, summarized Dickinson s ability as a writer in one sentence:
Her unique transport, her Sublime, is founded upon her unnaming of all our certitudes into so many
blanks; it gives her, and her authentic readers, another way to see, almost into the dark (Grabner,
Hagenbuchle, and Miller 192). Dickinson s inspiration was her own doubt in her faith and existence.
Through that she found meaning in her life and discovered the immortality of the soul. She became
comfortable with the idea of death because to her it wasn t an ending; it was the beginning. Her life as
recluse only put more focus on the existential problems she tried to answer. After her death her poems
grew in popularity, and her message was spread all over the world. She inspires many people like the
composers who made art songs and the weekly churchgoer that finds strength in her poems. No matter
what, the effect Emily Dickinson has had on us as readers, as people, as skeptics, as religion seekers

book into sections, which include the Dream Job and the Action Plan. Each of these two parts

Whatever a person s passion is can translate into a job as long as the person is able to be creative. The
author reiterates how necessary it is to enjoy oneself as much as possible and it is painfully clear why
this constant reminder is necessary. Many students succumb to pressure from family and peers to
settle for stability rather than following their personal dreams. There are quotes throughout the book
from many influential and popular figures like Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey, Marilyn Monroe, and
Jim Carrey that champion being an individual who is fearless about following a passion. By including
stories and quotations from familiar figures, Combs makes achieving a dream seem feasible to college
students who are aware that it is often much easier to succumb to fears. By outlining six common
fears, the author identifies why some people may be preventing themselves from reaching their full
potential. Action is essential to combating fear and becoming successful. Specific actions are provided
in the book to beat major fears. The author realizes how easy it is to allow a fear of failure as defined

such as internships and study abroad over grades is extraordinarily essential to developing someone s

John Cage s Work Of Art
John Cage s work, 4 33, premiered in 1952. It is comprised of three movements, during which the

on indeterminacy, the idea that the piece will change each time it is performed. Indeterminacy was a
reaction to serialism, where every aspect of a piece of music was structured to avoid repetition. Paul

that a work of art is something that is fit to be an object of aesthetic attention (Ziff, 1997). He
classifies this fitness based on a person p , who performs a certain action a with a work, or entity e

When this piece was performed for the first time at an event for sponsors of avant garde music, the
audience was confused and upset. They had spent money to what they perceived as sit in silence only
to watch a man open and close a lid six times. When we listened to this piece in class on April 21,
2017, we were informed of the piece beforehand and were expecting an allotted time of silence. While
sitting in expected silence, we heard the noises of the room, people drinking water, coughing, and
breathing. But the original audience was listening for traditionally understood sounds. Additionally, as
Ziff comments on the Sistine Chapel murals and how they are not aesthetically worthwhile, because
the conditions have failed the person (1997). He states, it would be worthwhile if... the Chapel was

The Discovergence Project
Even at its best, the convergence project didn t account for all of the subtleties that would bring its
demise. According to an article by Ken Tysiac of the Journal of Accountancy, the project formally
ended in January 2013 when a joint meeting between FASB and the IASB resulted in an
announcement to continue increasing global comparability in different ways. Now, FASB continues to
strive for increased comparability among foreign standards to U.S. GAAP. The FASB s strategy for
doing so involves three methods. Firstly, FASB aims to develop high quality standards for others to
follow. In doing so, FASB intends to serve as a reference point and benchmark for others... [and] lead

businesses remains bleak. Unfortunately, a single set of standards is desired by many groups across the
globe, and it could be the best way to compare GAAPs across the globe. In an April 2015 study
published by Tel Aviv University, researchers compared underpricing of IPO firms in countries that
use IFRS to IPO firms that used domestic GAAP. This study found that IFRS adoption can generate a

experience improved comparability from IFRS adoption as a result of systemic corruption, the United
States still has potential to reap the benefits from adoption, in spite of concerns from private

  • 3. The Great Train Robbery, And The Great Train Robbery The Western times were times of legends, cowboys, train robberies, and valiant acts of courage. There are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I wanted to discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both The Great Train Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robbery by Andy Thomas convey how the west was a place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes the train robbery and how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive, whereas Andy Thomas emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When the group of train robbers robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still being intelligent about robbing the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man at gunpoint right in front of a police officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked behind the door then they would have been busted and the robbery would have been compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness was that they forced everyone out of the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless because if anyone had seen people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known something bad was happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For example when they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The smartest thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all the passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed down and would increase the chance of them getting caught. These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities they both wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of violence to get the job done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of the day while the art work did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at the train yard while the artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show how the west ... • 4. The Tell Tale Heart Suspense Have you ever read The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe? It is a short story about a man whose mental state deteriorates over time. The narrator loves the old man, however he has a deep hatred toward the old man s vulture like eye. This essay will be explaining the ways Poe keeps his readers in suspense. Edgar Allan Poe uses time, repetition, and descriptive language to set the pace, tone, and mood. The first way Edgar Allan Poe keeps the reader in suspense by the conception of time. Poe makes time move two different way: slow and fast in certain parts of the story. A sluggish part in the story is demonstrated in this quotation: I undid the lantern cautiously oh so cautiously. A demonstration of the time being accelerated follows: It grew quicker and quicker, louder and louder every instant. These examples cause the reader to read carefully. When the pace picks up the reader reads faster as if they are hearing the man talk. This is how Poe distinguished time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These students show an exceptional amount of fear and uncertainty about their futures and how they will achieve their goals through the college educational system. Regularly, students fears are created from past experiences of failure in school, which students viewed as objective evidence of their academic inadequacy (25). This reading has helped to overcome my fears. After reading how students felt about beginning the college life even when English might be perfect for them made me realize I am not the only afraid of English. Last summer, I signed up for public speaking at the Modesto Junior College even though I knew my English was not very good. For the first 30 minutes of the film, there is barley a hint of any bright colour to be seen, aside from the white walls of Harold s psychiatrist s office. Here, black is the obvious symbol of death which encompasses the main points of the movie and becomes easily associated with Harold, the boy obsessed with death (the white, instead of representing purity in its traditional sense, can represent sanitization or a sort of cleansing that his psychiatrist is trying to impose upon Harold). We all have seen riots and we ve seen how they can end: a spray of rubber bullets, dogs digging their teeth into screaming people s legs, and the trashing of public places. We ve seen the sit ins and marches filled with people that have no fear in holding their signs high and proud. To some violence seems like the only answer, but the results are not as rewarding nor as long lasting. Although some may believe violence is the only answer they are turning a blind eye because nonviolent protests are more successful, get more government support, and gather more civilians around the cause. Poems: Mirror in February Chrysalides Thinking of Mr. D Dick King The world of Thomas Kinsella s poetry is one shrouded in darkness and decay, yet frequently relieved by cautiously optimistic moments of insight and acceptance. There is a darkness here that Kinsella reflects on, one that gives him an insight into the man Mr. D once was. Dick King is perhaps Kinsella s most poignant (sad) take on the nature of darkness and decay. For me, it both laments the loss of the titular King, and also celebrates his life. When he thinks of the dead man, the port experiences feelings of love. The poet personifies death and imagines it moving through our minds, igniting / Love . Yet there is a darkness in the way Kinsella refers to King. He calls him a plague something that constantly bothers him. He cannot forget him. Dick King appears always as an old man to Kinsella, because he only knew him as such: You haunt with the taint of age . The ghost, however, is a benevolent (kind) one: Kind plague. The poem suggests King s later years involved suffering. His dread years lay ahead of him, meaning the old man feared getting old and decaying. The image of Dick King making his wintry bed suggests great loneliness and suffering, as well as a pragmatic preparation for his decline into death. While the spectres of darkness and decay are not as overtly present in Model School as Kinsella s other poems, knowledge of them is certainly forming in the young Kinsella s mind. The poet s religion classes bring him face to face with disturbing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Uttich and Lombrozo also studied the side effect effect, but explained it differently than Knobe did. They named this view the Rational Scientist view. While Knobe suggested the moral status of a side effect influenced judgments on intentionality, Uttich and Lombrozo suggested that norm status is sufficient alone in producing the side effect effect. Specifically, they said that norm violating behavior that outweighs the reason to observe the norm is more informative in explaining intentionality of side effects compared to norm conforming behavior. By default, people usually follow the norms, unless some sufficiently strong reason compels them to violate them. Throughout her works she displayed themes of immortality, life, and death. Harold Bloom, a literary critic, once stated her themes were either relatable or inventive for the time she lived in (Grabner, Hagenbuchle, and Miller 191). These themes crossed over into how she wanted her writing to be perceived with both her style and technique. She used dramatic dialogic structure and a constant persona that always questioned her existence.
