2. Our Song
Lorde - Green Light
We like this song as it starts slowly and builds up
to a climax at the chorus.
This will be good for a music video as it won't get
boring and repetitive. It has clear pauses where
scenes can be cut to show narrative and
performance.
Also it has a good beat for changing cuts. There
aren't any negatives we can think of for choosing
this song.
We decided on a pop genre for our music video
song as these are typically upbeat songs with a
clear beat, this allows for the potential to include a
variety of cuts in the video. Also pop music videos
can be performance or narrative based which
doesn't restrict us when planning our video.
3. We haven’t decided on an exact narrative for our music video however regarding the lyrics we have decided
on a theme we want present in our video.
The lyrics “green light, I want it” symbolise ambition and reaching goals. Therefore in our video we would like
these theme prominent throughout. This could be shown through a storyline of the actress being lost or
searching for something at the start of the video then by the end she is happy and has succeeded what she
wanted to be achieved.
Narrative
Some of the lyrics in the song talk about a relationship with a boy however we do not want our music video to
be based around heartbreak or relationships as this is very cliché and common in pop music videos
nowadays.
Performance
We predominantly would like our video to be performance based. This means that the majority of our video
will be filmed in the studio. This ensures that the lighting will be professional. It also allows us to change the
lighting from high key lighting to low key lighting at different points in the song depending on the lyrics.
4. Video Inspirations
We have looked at many music videos and these are the ones which we like the most for various reasons. There are different elements in each video which we
like and would like to incorporate into our own video.
1. From Selena Gomez's "Kill em With Kindness" we like:
How the artists is perfoming in a studio
Camera techniques used such as the pull focus shots
Lighting
Cuts to different short cuts and then back again.
2. From Selena Gomez's "Fetish" we like:
The style of the video, vintage effect, low saturation, grunge
Artists style.
Beginning shots of scenery / sun / plants
Close up shots of the artists facial features
Use of water / rain
Lighting
3. From Lana Del Rays "Video Games" we like:
Homemade, vintage style
Many narratives
5. Actor
Our friend Charlotte has agreed to be in our video. We think she will be good as she already knows the song
Fashion in our music video will change depending on the location. For the performance part of our video we
would like Charlotte to wear plain clothes, this will. For the narrative part of the video we would like her to wear
more bright coloured clothes to show the fun element and the journey to being happier.
Fashion
6. Location Ideas
Multi Story Carpark
Dark but bright lighting
which fits the lyrics of
light in the song
Photography Studio
The studio will fit in with the narrative of our music video as we
need parts of the video to show Charlotte feeling alone and lost.
The plain background of the studio will portray this well and also
the facilities of the lighting will allow us to control the high key
and low key lighting and points in which we need it.
7. Location Ideas
Stokes Croft - Bristol
We thought locations with graffiti would be good
to film parts of our video as they are interesting
and brightly coloured.
