2. VIDEO IDEA
• Our video is to the pop song ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ By Justin Timberlake.
We decided to include both performance and narrative based and will be
roughly equal. To keep our video entertaining we will cut between both
regularly and this will also hopefully help the transitions between narrative
and performance flow better and work better together.
• The performance based aspects of the video will vary between different
kinds of shots for example, basic shots or the artist lip syncing and walking
to different studio shots.
• For the narrative part of our video we took inspiration from the title of our
song ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ and came up with idea of spreading colour. We
will show this by our actor walking round and tapping people in dull clothes
which will the change into bright coloured clothes and they will become
happy with the protagonist.
3. VIDEO INSPIRATION
• MAIN VIDEO INSPIRATION
• ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ – Justin Timberlake
• ‘Happy’ – Pharrell Williams
• ‘You’re Making My Dreams Come True’ – Hall and Oates (100 days of summer)
• ’Easy Love’ – Sigala
4. LOCATIONS
• We have 3 main location Idea’s.
• Firstly various places around Bristol city center e.g.
• The harbour side,
• Clifton Downs,
• General streets,
• Outside planetarium,
• Queens Square
We decided to film in and around
Bristol as it will be easy to access and
therefore a realistic location moreover,
we like the diversity of different
locations and shot possibilities there
are all within Bristol and feel we could
get the majority of our video filmed
there as it also provides opportunity for
both performance and narrative based
filming.
5. LOCATIONS
• Secondly, We felt Severn beach would be a good place to film as its near by and contrasts with
the busy city
• Severn Bridge
• Severn beach walkway
• Severn beach steps
We decided to film here as it
will give us use of both the
bridge and the beach. We
have idea’s for both narrative
and performance shots on
the bridge and we
particularly like the steps on
the beach and feel we could
use them for a variety of
different shots.
6. LOCATIONS
• Our final location will be a photography/drama studio.
We feel these locations would be good as it will allow us to have some shots
that are purely performance based, furthermore, using the drama studio will
also give us access to different coloured lights which links in with our theme
of spreading colour. The drama studio will also be good as one idea of ours is
to use glow in the dark paint and this would be an ideal location as it can be
made very dark.
7. ACTORS
• MAIN ACTOR
• Our main actor (the protagonist in the video) will be
our friend Jack who has agreed to take part in our
video. We feel jack is very suited to the role as our
artist is going to be a quirky upbeat pop artist and
Jack is very involved with drama and therefore will be
good at playing a character. Furthermore, Jack is also
familiar with the song which should help him to lip
sync the song well in our video.
• EXTRA ACTORS
• The narrative for our video is all about Jack walking
around spreading colour and happiness by changing
the colour of people’s t-shirts and later shots of
different people dancing thereofore this will require a
number of extra actors however we have a few people
lined up and as they will only be small parts we don’t
think it will be too difficult to find more. Finally, we
will also need to get a group of people together as we
are planning to have a big group come together for the
end scene of our video.
8. COSTUMES
• MAIN ACTOR
• Our main actor’s costume is bright and unique it is pink trousers, a grey and white checkered
shirt and pink/red bowtie – we chose this outfit as we feel it represents our artist’s style well
and we feel it sets him apart from the general crowd and from the other actors in the video
therefore reinforcing to the audience who the artist of the song is throughout.
OTHER ACTORS
The other actors in our video will be wearing black jeans and a basic monochrome t shirt to begin with
however when they come in contact with the protagonist they will change into a brightly coloured t
shirt – they will have have different coloured t-shirts but they will all be the same style and all the
actors will be wearing black jeans to help keep continuity within the video.
9. PROPS
• We plan on using a few different props within our music video these will include:
• Coloured Smoke bombs/flares
• Coloured powdered paint (Holi Powder)
• Glow in the dark paint/make up
• Bright make up
• Microphone
We think the coloured flares will help add interest to
the video and link to the idea of spreading colour.
Furthermore, we feel the glow in the dark paints will
make the performance aspects stand out more and
also have a slight link to the lyrics and again link to
colour. The coloured powder is going to be used for
our big final scene as we took inspiration from Holi
the Indian festival of colour and plan to have a group
of actors from the video throwing coloured powder at
each other as a conclusion to the t shirt colours
changing and colour spreading. The mic is for the
studio based performance scenes.
