2. TYPE OF VIDEO
For our first idea we would like to follow a narrative/Performance style video. We want to follow
this format because we think it allows us to show case a range of skills and allows us to show a
story line throughout our performance. In order to do this we would need to cut between
scenes, and use a range of locations and outfit to go with the lyrics of the song.
3. SCREEN GRAB EXAMPLES
Here are various examples from
songs such as ‘let her go’ and
‘We are young.’ These music
videos use a similar format to
what we are thinking, using both
the Narrative and Performance
style, and cutting between
scenes. Both songs also go along
with the lyrics and the narrative
follows with frequent cuts
between the performance and
the narrative.
4. POSSIBLE SONGS
The song we would choose would be around 3-4 minutes long.
Let her go by Passenger would be a possible song choice for us, because we have found a lot of
inspiration from the lyrics and the video and feel we can find a narrative that fits the song.
We are young by Fun. Is another possible choice because like Let her go we have found
inspiration from the lyrics and believe we can base a narrative around the lyrics.
Paradise by Coldplay is a song that we think we interpret and add our own twist to the song
through the video.
Lego house by Ed Sheeran is our final choice. Although the music video for this is purely
narrative we believe we can create a story line that goes with the song and cut between it with a
performance eliment.
5. GENRE
The genre of music we may choose is ‘Pop’. However the songs we have chosen perhaps with
the exception of Paradise are all slow. The songs all have a deeper meaning and requires the
listener to dig deep into the lyrics in order to find meaning. We believe this then allows the
listener to relate to the song and the video on a more personal level.
6. IDEA
In our video we would like to follow both a narrative and performance element with frequent
cuts between the two. We would like to do this because we believe we can shoe emotion behind
the song and relate the song to the lyrics easily. We would try and film in a range of setting and
try our best to incorporate a verity of musical instruments to make our performance more
realistic. The possible songs we have chosen are emotional ones and we would like to carry this
theme into our music video to the best of our ability.
