2. Target audience.
The target audience for the magazine Mosh pit is a very niche audience
and is more male leaning and the age range is majority in the range of
16-25. The target audiences psychographics are; Listening to music,
very heavy internet users, very sociable (going to festivals and gigs with
friends) and like going outside and generally chilling listening to music
with friends.
This magazine will appeal to my target audience because I will be using
things that connote aggression. Also I will be only using sans serif fonts
and a dark colour scheme. Using al of these things will appeal to the
niche audience because they are all things that are stereotypically
associated with them.
I also think that my magazine will appeal to my target audience
because I aim to use an informal register. This is appeal to my target
audience because they want to be able to read something that is easy
on the eye and wont take a lot of effort to read.
3. Genre/things to associate with metal/rock.
My genre of magazine that I have chosen to do is metal/rock. Some of the things that
get stereotypically associated with metal/rock people is that they only wear dark
clothing, they don’t dress ‘mainstream’ and they usually have brightly coloured hair.
Some sans serif fonts that
are metal/rock bands-
4. Content of my magazine.
Inside of my magazine I will be having a tone of CD and concert reviews, this will really appeal
to my target audience because their passion is music and they really love reading about their
favourite bands new things that these bands have been up to recently. Also in my magazine I
will be having a main double page spread, this will be the main focus of the magazine as it is a
new band that have recently come into the rock/metal genre. This will definitely appeal to the
target audience because in my research I found out that people who like the metal/rock
genre love to find out about new bands that they can really get into.
For my magazine front cover I have made a few layout designs and here is two of
them. But on the front cover I have stated the most interesting content so people
will want to read it.
Also inside of my magazine I am promoting a free CD for every reader, this will
appeal to my target audience because there main psychographic is to listen to
music , so adding something that will appeal to this is very conventional.
5. Mode of address/house style.
I think the mode of address is the best way to connect with
the target audience. In my first issue of Moshpit and all of
the other magazines that I will produce will all have the
same features, for example; By using the same sans serif
font for the mast head, by using a constant colour theme
(which will be all dark colours) and also by using sans serif
font all the way through the magazine including the articles.
By using all of these things in every issue will create a
brand identity and this is conventional because every single
magazine has a brand identity.
Also by using the same facial expressions in all the pictures
will not just connote aggression but it is conventional for the
genre of music as anger is associated with metal/rock.
