This document is a slide presentation about parts of speech given by Nur Iwa Nasuha. It covers the definitions and examples of seven parts of speech: nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions. For each part of speech, the presentation explains the different types and provides exercises for students to practice identifying them in sentences. Tips are also given, such as how to form plural nouns and whether a verb is transitive or intransitive. Slide 1:
 I show my group’s particular which is Part Of Speech, my lecturer’s name who is Mr.
Azman Bin Mohamed and the name for this course which is WAJ3102 English
Language Proficiency.
Slide 2:
 I show all seven types of part of speech which are nouns, pronouns, adjectives,
verbs, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions.
Slide 3:
 I explain about six types of nouns which are abstract nouns, concrete nouns,
common nouns, proper nouns, countable nouns and uncountable nouns.
 I give some tips that If a noun ends with the –s, sh, ch, or x like the words, kiss, ash
or box, then they are made plural by adding –es (kisses, ashes, and boxes).
 But, there are also irregular nouns that do not follow any rules. For example, the
plural form of the word child is children.

 I explain about seven types of pronouns which are personel pronouns, demonstrative
pronouns, interrogative pronouns, relative pronouns, intensive pronouns and
indefinite pronouns.
 Then, I give an example :
- the teacher gave all of them good grades.
- Tommy gave his poetry book to her.
- Then, Azra gave it to me.
 I explain about Them, her and me are personal pronouns used as objects. They are
NEVER the subjects of the sentences.

 I explain about three types of adjectives which are positive adjectives, comparative
adjectives and superlative adjectives.
 I give some tips that you wouldn’t ordinarily use so many adjectives in just one
sentence !

 I explain about three types of verbs which are auxiliary verbs, stative verbs and
dynamic
 Caution ! I explain a verb can be either transitive or intransitive depending on its
context. For Example:
1. The cars race. – Here, raceis intransitive. It does not need an object.
2. My father races horses. – Here, races is transitive. It requires the object horses
in order to make sense.
 WARNING: The base form of a verb is called the infinitive. It is to + verb.
 For example, to do, to win, to study, etc. Under no circumstance can a verb
preceded by to be considered a verb. Infinitives are not verbs.
