2. The Parts of speech are nothing but the classification or division
of the words according to their Syntactic Function. Parts of
Speech is a tern frequently used in the traditional Grammar and
it accommodates eight different categories of words.

Noun is a naming word. It is the name of a person, place, animal
activity, idea or a thing. Most of the nouns have both Singular and
plural form.
Examples: Raj, Pooja, Latur, Dog, Cricket, Gold, etc.
A Pronoun is a word which replaces a Noun, Noun Phrase or Noun
Clause. It is one of the conventional elements of Parts of Speech. It
function as a Subject, Object or Complement in a sentence.
Examples: Suraj is lazy; so, he failed, Pratiksha is intelligent; so
she got good marks, He is an Engineer, They are on the floor, It is
a furious dog, You are a student.

A is a word which is used to describe an action or occurance or
indicates a state of being. Verbs show differences in tense, mood,
aspect, number, person and voice. It is an important Part of Speech
and there could not be a sentence without it. It is also known as the
Soul of the Sentence.
Examples: Walk, Run, Read, Watch, Feel, Look, Play, Stay, Live.
An Adverb is a word which adds meaning to a verb, an adjective or
another adverb. It helps to understand When, Where or How.
Examples: He runs fast, He walks slowly, He speaks clearly, He
works smoothly.

An Adjective is a word which is used to describe a noun. It qualifies a
noun and pronoun and incorporates something to the meaning of a
noun.
Examples: Seema is a tall girl, Noble men are honoured, Ashoka
was a great emperor, Honest men speak the truth.
Preposition is a word which is used to show a relationship of noun or
pronoun with another word in a sentence.
Examples: On, To, In, For, With, Up, From, By, At, Off, etc.

It serves to connect words, phrases, clauses or sentences. It is a
joining words.
Examples: And, But, Yet, Before, So, Or, As well as, Whether,
Either..or, Neither..nor, Therefore, Hence, etc.
Interjection is a word of exclamation expressing a sudden feeling or
excitement. It is mere exclamation expressing strong feeling.
- It is not the Part of Speech as it does not grammatically connected
with the sentence in which it occurs.
Examples: Surprise…..Ah ! What a beautiful picture it is !
Grief………Alas! We have lost the bet.
Joy………..Hurrah! We have own the match.
