This document provides information on the skills and responsibilities of an Instrument Technician. It discusses that an Instrument Technician is responsible for calibrating process instruments in the field and bench. They also have skills in troubleshooting, testing loops, and commissioning process equipment. The document then lists various skills and knowledge required, including calibrating different types of instruments, installing tubing and instruments, understanding diagrams, and ensuring safety practices.
Instrumentation: Test and Measurement Methods and Solutions - VE2013Analog Devices, Inc.
Tilt Measurement: Tilt measurement is fast becoming a fundamental analysis tool in many fields including automotive, industrial, and healthcare. Navigation, vehicle dynamic control, building sway indication, and motion detection systems all rely on this simple, cheap, and precise way of angle monitoring. MEMS accelerometers are better suited to inclination measurement than other methodologies. This session will address the challenges encountered when designing a dual-axis tilt sensor using a MEMS accelerometer including measurement resolution, signal conditioning, single- vs. dual-axis, angle computation, and calibration.
Impedance Measurement: The measurement of complex impedance is widely used across industrial, commercial, automotive, healthcare, and consumer markets, and can include applications such as proximity sensing, inductive transducers, metallurgy and corrosion detection, loudspeaker impedance, biomedical, virus detection, blood coagulation factor, and network impedance analysis. This session will cover the concepts, approaches, and challenges of performing complex impedance measurements and will present a system-level solution for impedance conversion.
Weigh Scale Measurement: Most common industrial weigh scale applications use a bridge-type load-cell sensor, with a voltage output that is directly proportional to the load weight placed on it. This session examines the basic parameters of a bridge-type load-cell sensor, such as the number of varying elements, impedance, excitation, sensitivity (mV/V), errors, and drift. It will also discuss the various components of the signal conditioning chain and present solutions with high dynamic range.
Two ambitious students are looking for a company to partner with for their bachelor thesis. They are motivated to apply their academic knowledge to a real business case and gain experience in project management and consulting. They are interested in challenges related to strategy, business development, operations, and supply chain management. From January to June 2017, they will work on a 70-page report and 60-minute presentation to provide a new perspective and action plan to address the company's problem. In exchange, the company will receive a report and presentation from two top-performing students aimed at providing a solution.
The document summarizes the overhaul of field instruments for the TG701 gas turbine during a turnaround in 2015. Key activities included:
1. Removing 171 instruments according to the turbine dismantling process and calibrating them in the workshop before reinstalling with turbine reassembly.

3. Replacing damaged devices like thermocouples, limit switches, and a level switch. Future recommendations focused on checking spare parts and developing test setups.
This document discusses different types of instrumentation diagrams used in process instrumentation:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) show the overall process flow with minimal instrumentation details.
- Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) show both the process flow and instrumentation connections.
- Loop diagrams focus on instrumentation details like wire and terminal connections.
- SAMA diagrams focus on control strategies through information flow rather than physical connections.
The document explains key details depicted in each type of diagram through examples.

Attitudes of mining engineers in indian coal mining industry towards csr an ...Pawan Kumar Singh
Most of the business organizations all over the world practice corporate social responsibility (CSR). In India, this is mandatory to integrate CSR with core business operations of the company in order to achieve sustainable development goals. For effective integration and implmentation of objective-based CSR programs, this is essential that managers of the industry bear pos-itive attitudes towards CSR, so that decisions taken by them concentrate to the goals. In Indian coal mining industry, it is the min-ing engineers who normally manage operations of the industry, and are responsible for taking decisions. This explorative research aims to evaluate the degree of attitudes of mining engineers towards CSR. Responses of 362 practicing mining engineers in coal mining industry against a well-constructed questionnaire were obtained, with an aim to develop more awareness towards the sub-ject. Analysis of the data reflected that a large proportion of engineers are well aware with the concept of CSR and its implementa-tion and bear significantly positive cognitive component as well as affective component of attitudes, but require further improve-ment in behavioral component of attitudes which is very much essential for deciding suitable CSR programs and their effective implementation. The highly positive attitudes of engineers at junior level, as observed in the survey, indicated a bright future for integration of CSR in core operations of the industry.
The document provides guidance on an engagement process called "Material Engagement" to advance sustainability issues. It recommends focusing engagements on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and issues identified as material by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). The 8-step process involves identifying SDG priorities, scanning SASB's materiality map, selecting laggard companies, defining the engagement scope, setting milestones and timelines, selecting an engagement approach, communication methods, and an escalation strategy if needed. Appendices provide more details on the initial steps of selecting SDG priorities, identifying laggards using ESG ratings, and defining the engagement scope. The goal is to make sustainability issues real

SDGS are becoming, buzzwords, I have been asked whether philanthropy institutions should participate in SDGs. I believe the philanthropy community should engage in any global initiative relevant to its work that contributes to the shared goal of creating a just and prosperous society.
Over the past year, spurred by the work of the SDG Philanthropy Platform, philanthropy has emerged as more active stakeholder in global conversation around the Post-2015 Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, solid groundwork has been laid for philanthropic organisations to co-create transformative solutions to achieveing the SDGs.
