Most of the business organizations all over the world practice corporate social responsibility (CSR). In India, this is mandatory to integrate CSR with core business operations of the company in order to achieve sustainable development goals. For effective integration and implmentation of objective-based CSR programs, this is essential that managers of the industry bear pos-itive attitudes towards CSR, so that decisions taken by them concentrate to the goals. In Indian coal mining industry, it is the min-ing engineers who normally manage operations of the industry, and are responsible for taking decisions. This explorative research aims to evaluate the degree of attitudes of mining engineers towards CSR. Responses of 362 practicing mining engineers in coal mining industry against a well-constructed questionnaire were obtained, with an aim to develop more awareness towards the sub-ject. Analysis of the data reflected that a large proportion of engineers are well aware with the concept of CSR and its implementa-tion and bear significantly positive cognitive component as well as affective component of attitudes, but require further improve-ment in behavioral component of attitudes which is very much essential for deciding suitable CSR programs and their effective implementation. The highly positive attitudes of engineers at junior level, as observed in the survey, indicated a bright future for integration of CSR in core operations of the industry.

A new vision of Economics will not emerge from the economic powers and mainstream capitalist systems alone. It is not a vision to be realized only by economists or business interests. This new vision will emerge instead from the bottom up in country after country and village after village around the world as people learn to build and take control of their own economic futures, find new ways to measure their own sense of well-being, learn to manage how the Earth’s limited natural resources are to be protected and nurtured for future generations -- after all these are our and their commons -- establish new ways to distribute wealth and secure basic living standards and dignity for all, protect the health of labour, and develop a sense of unique cultural and regional identity not dictated by global trends and political strong arms.

Effectiveness of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Bangladesh PerspectiveShahadat Hossain Shakil
EIA as an environment management tool has been successful in terms of global awareness rising over the last four decades. Due to its rationalist approach it has been criticised about the inherent aim of influencing development decision and protecting the environment. Numerous researches have been performed to measure the ‘effectiveness of EIA’ which is still evolving as a domain. Four major criteria’s have been established till date. Effectiveness of Bangladesh EIA system has been explored with the help of those criteria’s. Procedural ineffectiveness seeks government measure in a couple areas mainly through institutional arrangement and capacity building. Substantive ineffectiveness reflects the global trend of failure to influence the development decision truly. Transactive effectiveness will be far reaching for a country like Bangladesh, depended on foreign aid largely. Normative effectiveness is still little known, but mass awareness about the environment through the debate regarding an ES report is a recent experience.
Australia will face significant human and economic costs because its infrastructure is poorly equipped to handle more frequent extreme weather events and other consequences of climate change.

Global waste production is predicted to double over the next 20 years due to increased urbanization and greater waste generation per capita in emerging economies. Developing practical and sustainable solutions to move towards a zero waste society will require simultaneous development of appropriate infrastructure, services, and approaches to facilitate behavior change. It will also require mass production of low-cost sustainable technologies and global cooperation on waste management standards. Taking significant steps by 2020, such as integrated waste management, sustainable technologies, and policies to prevent waste, could help mitigate the growing waste challenge.
This document discusses corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the mining industry. It proposes establishing criteria for sustainability, ethics, and human capital (called CSR criteria) for mining companies. While international bodies have proposed CSR guidelines and indicators, the size of a company can impact adoption of such systems. The document presents an easy-to-use CSR performance chart for mining companies composed of 31 indicators and a global index, intended as an internal measure for continuous CSR improvement.
The document discusses the relationship between innovation, sustainability, and sustainable development. It states that innovation and sustainability are interdependent, as innovation leads to sustainability and the need for sustainable development leads to further innovation. For industrial development to be sustainable, it must address economic, social, and environmental issues through innovation. Some examples of frugal and sustainable innovations from India are also provided.
The document discusses sustainability and sustainable practices for businesses. Strong sustainability embraces renewable energy, treats waste as a resource, and values diversity and ecosystem resilience. Key aspects of strong sustainability are systems thinking, a principled definition, and backcasting to understand sustainability and practice it effectively.
conceptualizing Social Impacts and setting the scene for the SessionJoymike YIGA
1) Social impact assessments evaluate the effects of planned interventions and major projects on people and communities. They emerged in the 1960s to address social issues not covered by environmental impact assessments.
2) Social impacts refer to changes in people's well-being and ways of living, both positive and negative, experienced differently by various groups. Vulnerable groups are often most severely affected.
3) Social impact assessments identify affected groups, facilitate stakeholder participation, predict impacts, and recommend mitigation measures to minimize harm and maximize benefits for all parties.
Sustainability, Green Technologies & Eco CitiesLeeniOr
Cities are reducing their environmental impact through various green technologies and sustainable practices. This includes making buildings more energy efficient, improving public transit systems, expanding green spaces, and transforming to renewable energy sources. Green roofs and banning single-use plastics are also strategies that cities are using. Modern waste management systems that capture methane from landfills and sending zero waste to landfills by certain deadlines are further ways that cities are becoming more sustainable.
The document discusses environmental literacy, the importance of environmental education, the environment impact assessment process, and the polluter-pays principle. It defines environmental literacy as understanding environmental problems to enable informed decision making. It emphasizes that environmental education aims to increase awareness and knowledge to promote attitudinal and behavioral change. It also describes the key elements and participants in the formal environment impact assessment process used to predict impacts of development projects. Finally, it mentions that the polluter-pays principle establishes that those who cause pollution should pay the costs of damages.

Ministry of Corporate affairs is encouraging the companies to have some CSR activities. The companies are taking some Social Welfare activities to show that they have CSR activities. However a proper CSR policy should not merely some social welfare activities but a holistic responsibility of business organization towards its shareholders, employees, consumers, related communities and environment however it’s sometime neglected. Companies may have sound HR, Marketing, Operation policies etc. but somehow they are confused regarding their CSR policies. They are sometime depending on some social welfare organizations who have very limited knowledge toward the need and responsibility of business organizations. Unoptimized CSR Activities is not creating any value addition to the company as well as to the society in true sense. A proper structure for CSR policy is required to be developed so that companies can exercise its responsibility towards 3P’s (Profit, People and planet) effectively.
This study is done by combining primary data with secondary data related to CSR Activity of some major companies, in order to move forward in designing road map for future CSR activities.
CSR Activities of Companies having manufacturing Infrastructure like SAIL, Indian Oil, Power Sectors like NTPC, Adani Power, Tata Power etc. focused on defensive CSR Activities such as, Activities related to Environment, Care and Development of local community. DEEP LEARNING FOR SMART GRID INTRUSION DETECTION: A HYBRID CNN-LSTM-BASED MODELijaia
As digital technology becomes more deeply embedded in power systems, protecting the communication
networks of Smart Grids (SG) has emerged as a critical concern. Distributed Network Protocol 3 (DNP3)
represents a multi-tiered application layer protocol extensively utilized in Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA)-based smart grids to facilitate real-time data gathering and control functionalities.
Robust Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are necessary for early threat detection and mitigation because
of the interconnection of these networks, which makes them vulnerable to a variety of cyberattacks. To
solve this issue, this paper develops a hybrid Deep Learning (DL) model specifically designed for intrusion
detection in smart grids. The proposed approach is a combination of the Convolutional Neural Network
(CNN) and the Long-Short-Term Memory algorithms (LSTM). We employed a recent intrusion detection
dataset (DNP3), which focuses on unauthorized commands and Denial of Service (DoS) cyberattacks, to
train and test our model. The results of our experiments show that our CNN-LSTM method is much better
at finding smart grid intrusions than other deep learning algorithms used for classification. In addition,
our proposed approach improves accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score, achieving a high detection
accuracy rate of 99.50%.

Advanced control scheme of doubly fed induction generator for wind turbine us...IJECEIAES
This paper describes a speed control device for generating electrical energy on an electricity network based on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) used for wind power conversion systems. At first, a double-fed induction generator model was constructed. A control law is formulated to govern the flow of energy between the stator of a DFIG and the energy network using three types of controllers: proportional integral (PI), sliding mode controller (SMC) and second order sliding mode controller (SOSMC). Their different results in terms of power reference tracking, reaction to unexpected speed fluctuations, sensitivity to perturbations, and resilience against machine parameter alterations are compared. MATLAB/Simulink was used to conduct the simulations for the preceding study. Multiple simulations have shown very satisfying results, and the investigations demonstrate the efficacy and power-enhancing capabilities of the suggested control system.
Comparative analysis between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquapon...bijceesjournal
The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.

Gas agency management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
The project entitled "Gas Agency" is done to make the manual process easier by making it a computerized system for billing and maintaining stock. The Gas Agencies get the order request through phone calls or by personal from their customers and deliver the gas cylinders to their address based on their demand and previous delivery date. This process is made computerized and the customer's name, address and stock details are stored in a database. Based on this the billing for a customer is made simple and easier, since a customer order for gas can be accepted only after completing a certain period from the previous delivery. This can be calculated and billed easily through this. There are two types of delivery like domestic purpose use delivery and commercial purpose use delivery. The bill rate and capacity differs for both. This can be easily maintained and charged accordingly.
