The New And Older Generations Of The United Ages Of 18 And...
Assimilation As the American economy continues to incorporate the younger generation into the
working class, steps must be taken to maximize employee potential. The impact of workers between
the ages of 18 and 32, Generation Y or Millennials, is unquestionably an organizational concern for
many employers. According to a 2013 Ernst Young survey, 87% of Millennials have moved into
management positions in the last five years. With that level of upward mobility, issues and conflicts
are certain to arise due to the vastly different workplace ethics, management styles, etc. held by the
new and older generations. For a company to be an innovative competitor in the marketplace, it is
important for its employees to be able to work productively while accommodating generational
differences. The 2013 Ernst Young survey also found that more than 69% of respondents said their
company had made an effort to alleviate the challenges that arise with a generational blend. Employee
cooperation is an important goal for these companies because it is vital for them to thrive in the
rapidly evolving workplace. Without cooperation between the distinct generational groups,
management problems will certainly arise. Leaders should attempt to mitigate these problems by
allowing employees to work in a style that suits their particular needs. While certain standards must be
in place to maintain orderly operations, flexibility must be demonstrated so that employees remain
loyal to the firm. Favoring

Theme Of The Poem Strange Fruit
A world without judgement is a world that does not exist. To this day, 4.6 million Australians are
targeted by racial discrimination. That is 1 in 5 of your friends, being judged for having a skin colour
that is seen as wrong . We were not born black, nor were we born white, but what the world told us
and what society brainwashed us to believe that black and white are not the same and should remain
different.
Racism is a belief that a particular race is superior to another resulting in segregation in the world. It
causes a gap in our society disallowing us to stand as one. For centuries, racial discrimination has been
occurring world wide from the Nazi Germany to the Jim Crow Laws in Southern United States. More
specifically in Southern United States, the murder of thousands of African American people driven by
the hatred of the whites, occurred through the practice of lynching. This popular event attracted many
people including poet Abel Meeropol who was haunted by this ionic photo in 1930. This inspired him
to write a poem protesting against racial discrimination which forces people to confront to the grim
reality of racism. The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol paints a hostile picture of the lifeless
bodies hung by a necklace of rope. Throughout the poem, the poet has utilised poetic devices to
enhance the message of racial discrimination against the African Americans. The title Strange Fruit in
itself is a metaphor for the victims of lynching, these victims were mainly African Americans, and
some were not even put to trial before they were sentenced death. Strange fruit hanging from the
poplar trees is a quote from the poem utilising the poetic device of imagery. It is portrayed in a casual
manner as lynching is found to be a common event which occurred in their everyday life. The last line
of the poem reads here is a strange and bitter crop . Focusing more specifically on the metaphor crop ,
the blacks were seen nothing more than fruit for the crows to pluck . Because their skin was not white,
their life is worth no more less than crops; crops who were left outside for birds to eat. Throughout the
poem, juxtaposition is used to compare and contrast the idea of racial discrimination. Scent

The political/geographic situation in Europe at the beginning of World War I was full of conflict and
strife with nations already seeped in rivalry and hatred, bidding for power with military might and

seems every country has some disposition towards another country over disputes not its own but of its

The Controversy Of Race And Authority
Has one ever felt disheartened watching the news and the headlines says that there was another
minority victim in an officer related shooting? Has one ever wondered why race versus authority is
such a huge problem? Has one ever asked how did society get this far as to physically harming law
enforcement? The answer is the media has allowed it to get this far. Race relations and authority has
been a deep rooted problem since the founding of this nation. By enslaving Africans and other
ethnicities, wealthy white forced them to long hard toils under the sun. Fast forward to the middle 19th
century and those enslaved have been set free yet those people are still being oppressed. Fast forward
now to the middle 20th century where one hundred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that, but constantly churning out stories about the incident every hour until it ceases to matter
to them anymore. The media do not realize the problems created by the haphazard ways of this kind of
reporting. In the 1950 s, media could be said as being the polar opposite of today.
The 1950 s were a time in which televised news sources were not as frequent and plentiful as they are
now. One particular situation that needs to be pointed out happened right in the city of Montgomery,
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, shows just how effective media can be when the priority is to
give the news without hyperbole or exaggeration. Going to Randall Kennedy s Yale Law article, the
writer describes the climate of the south at this time period Segregation was a way of life determined
in large part by whites who virtually monopolized state power and used that power to subjugate
blacks. (Kennedy) This is what minorities went through in the beautiful state of Alabama. The media
effectively allowed the visual representation of what was happening in Montgomery at the time. Of
course, there were some bias because of the majority white journalists at the time, but it was difficult
to state anything other than the truth with video evidence and picture evidence proving the reality.

Essay On An Eye Is Upon You
An Eye is Upon You
Introduction
In today s society we are faced with many new technologies that look to catapult us into the future.
Some of these technologies look to free society from the shackles of old while others look to upgrade
the shackles and remove our veil of freedom. One of these topics that look to shackle us to our
government overlords is their ability for mass surveillance. This activity affords them a power like that
never seen before. Even though the program was instituted with the idea to revolutionize the ability of
the United States to detect, classify, and identify foreign terrorists [1] , it gives them a way to tag and
watch every conversation and every movement of every citizen in the country. The amount of power

The group sees this as a disgusting violation of not only ethical policies but also human rights. As with
the group opinion even the US Supreme Court agrees that this core privacy protection does cover
government eavesdropping [3] .
Trend
The practice of mass surveillance sets a dangerous precedence as we proceed into the future that the
government has full reign over our lives and controls our every movement. Through mass surveillance
the government is handed a way to spy on everything we do, in both our online lives as well as our
physical lives. It allows them to circumvent our policy of privacy and store entire databases that
calculate and correlate our lives. This is more power than any person or institution should ever be able
to have and can lead to societies mimicking that of an Orwellian dystopian future. The amount of
power and control that mass surveillance gives a government entity would lead to the loss of one s
free will. The pathway that these actions lead to is an attempt at a system like that found in Minority
Report where institutions use this technique to try to predict future crime and arrest people for things
that they did not commit. This is loss of freedom which leads to the loss of our inalienable rights
found in the Constitution. A very well put quote comes from a Computer Science professor at the
University of California concerning the NSA mass surveillance program

The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria-Hungary and...
The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria Hungary and Serbia During 1878 and 1914
Between 1878 and 1914, there was generally a lot of hostility in the Balkans this was mainly due to
the weakening Ottoman Empire, this allowed countries within it to start to fight for independence and
the greater powers surrounding it to try and take over parts of it.
After the Treaty of Berlin, 1878, Austria Hungary was given the right to occupy and administer the
Ottoman province of Bosnia Herzegovina. In 1908, after growing fears of Serbia and Russia becoming
stronger, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia Herzegovina. This angered the Serbs because they had
wanted Bosnia Herzegovina to be in their control as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results of the first Balkan War in 1912 were another cause of hostility between the two countries.
As a result of this war Serbia had gained control of the Adriatic coastline, and had also taken over
Albania. Austria Hungary resented and feared the sudden growth of Serbia and wanted Serbia to give
up both the Adriatic coast and Albania. Russia however supported the Serbs, and he and Austria
Hungary mobilised their troops against one another. A peace treaty was drawn up and by May 1913
the Treaty of London was signed. In this treaty Serbia lost control of the Adriatic coast and Albania
was made an independent state, however they did gain control of central and northern Macedonia.
They felt this was inadequate and blamed Austria Hungary for their loss of land. This was a significant
factor in the hostility between the two sides as it made Austria Hungary fear Serbian growth and
angered Serbia as they felt that whenever they made gains of land in the Balkans the Austrians would
thwart it.
The results of the second Balkan war were also key factors in the hostility between the two countries.
In 1913 Serbia and Greece went to war with Bulgaria to win land they thought they deserved after the
first war. Bulgaria was defeated and in the Treaty of Bucharest Serbia and Greece got to keep those
parts of Macedonia they had captured. The Serbs then went on to

Rules In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Rules have been around since the beginning of time for the purpose of safety and control in a
population. But, what happens when there are more rules in place for the sake of control as opposed to
safety? The novel Anthem shows that when there are more rules for control of individuals minds, they
will be broken because the individuals realize there is more to be discovered than what they are being
told. This can be seen through the plot and climax, as well as in the characterization of the protagonist
and antagonist, and through Equality 7 2521 s first person point of view.

The Secession of South Carolina was on December 20th, 1860. This was when the state of South
Carolina drafted the Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of
South Carolina from the Federal Union this meant that South Carolina was repealing its ratification of
the U.S. Constitution. South Carolina did this because they felt that the federal government of the
Union was not obeying the Constitution and going against it. They believed that the states had equal
and separate control of its own state and government itself, and they could also claim slaves as their
property and the constitution says that they have the right to do whatever they want with their
property. As for the repercussions of this South Carolina ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of them was that they were the first to fall in a line of dominoes in which more and more states of
the south will open their eyes and secede from the Union. As said by WIECEK, WILLIAM M In it,
the Carolinian accused the free states of violation or half hearted enforcement of the Fugitive Slave
Acts, tolerating abolitionists agitation, and electing a presidential candidate pledged to eventual
abolition of slavery therefore South Carolina declared itself an Independent State, with full power to
levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things
which the independent states may right do (South Carolina Ordinance of Secession (1860) 1). This
quote explains to us that South Carolina seceded and left the union, for these reasons. Now, in that
time more states will see and realize that South Carolina was right and that they shouldn t be the only
ones that should leave the union but every slave state should leave the union to create the confederate
states of america. This was the beginning of the war and all there was left to do was

The Silk Road Essay
The Silk Road was an intricate and evolving network of overland trade routes that linked China, India,
and western Eurasia for centuries. The trade route was key to the diffusion and transportation of
technology, goods, religions, and language throughout Asia, the Mediterranean, Africa and southern
Europe. As the strongest link between major population centers in the largest landmass on earth, the
Silk Road was one of the most important of all long distance trade routes in human history.
Study of the Silk Road has made it obvious that Eurasian history was more than isolated histories of
Mesopotamia, Egypt, Europe, India, Southeast Asia, and China. In reality, for several thousand years,

But it was difficult for them to grow and store crops, so most traded with farming communities at the
edge of their grazing lands. The pastoralists would exchange livestock products for agricultural
produce and manufactured goods. This way, pastoralists gradually created far reaching systems of
trade that from Siberia to India and from China to the Mediterranean. With the spread of pastoralism,
Inner Eurasia now had channels of communication across Eurasia.
Early evidence of trade along the Silk Roads comes from the so called Oxus civilization, a group of
fortified farming and trading cities built about 4,000 years ago on the borders between modern
Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Archaeologists have found Chinese silks and goods from
India and Mesopotamia, and pottery and ornaments from Inner Eurasia. The archaeological evidence
leans toward the idea of cooperation between urban merchants and pastoralists. Over time,
sophisticated systems of trade emerged that was organized in caravans sometimes with hundreds of
individuals, often financed by urban merchants, and supplied with manufactured goods and the region
s specialties. At least by the first millennium BCE, caravans could stop at special rest stops known as
caravansaries founded by local rulers or merchants. Caravansaries offered bunks, repair workshops,

Information Security
As a kind of resources, information has the character of universality, sharing, value added, hand

human beings. The essence of information security is to protect information systems or information
resources in the information network from various types of threats, interferences and damages.
According to the definition of international organization for standardization, information security is
mainly refers to the integrity, availability, confidentiality and reliability of the information. Every
country, government department or industry all must attach great importance to the problem of
information security as it is a national security strategy which should not be ignored. However, for
different departments and trades, the demand for information security and the key is distinguishing.
The scope of information security itself is very wide, such as the problem of preventing the disclosure
for commercial enterprises, the problem of preventing teenagers from browsing on bad information
and the problem of personal information leaking. The information security system under the
environment of network is the key to guarantee information security, including computer security

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Written Contracts
The law recognizes that legally binding contracts can be written, verbal, or a mixture of both.
However, for business purposes, written contracts are usually preferred due to the following reasons:
The contents ( terms ) are in writing for all to see They can ensure that precise language is used in
describing the terms of the agreement There is, therefore, less opportunity for misunderstandings and
conflicting assumptions There is less need to rely on memories of what was originally agreed The
individuals involved in the transaction may change over time. Written contracts If the contract has

Bombs In Ww2 Essay
World War II was Fought from 1939 1945. The Nazis forced ladored Jews to make bombs in the
Holocaust. There were many different types of bombs and chemicals in WWII. There are Three
chemicals that make the bombs in WWII. One of the Chemicals are Tabun. Nazis forced prisoners to

Another gas used in bombs and in gas chamber is Zyklon B. Chlorine gas was a popular gas in WWI

its enemies by asphyxiation. This means it cuts off the air flow and chokes them. There are many

system theory
One of the biggest breakthroughs in how we understand and guide change in organizations is systems
theory and systems thinking. There are two main definitions of a system, an implicit and an explicit
phrase, with the explicit phrase being used in system thinking by organizations. The definition refers
to a system as being a collection of highly integrated parts or subsystems that attain a specific goal,
through inputs that are processed into precise outputs. And thus if a part of this highly linked system is
changed, the overall system is also changed. This is what s meant by a system being systemic, i.e.
relating and affecting the system as a whole. System complexity:

the philosophies of Bunge, Bahm and Laszlo); mathematical modelling and information theory (e.g.
the work of Mesarovic and Klir); and practical applications. Mathematical systems theory arose from
the development of isomorphism between the models of electrical circuits and other systems.
Applications include engineering, computing, ecology, management, and family psychotherapy.
Systems analysis, developed independently of systems theory, applies systems principles to aid a
decision maker with problems of identifying, reconstructing, optimizing, and controlling a system
(usually a socio technical organization), while taking into account multiple objectives, constraints and
resources. It aims to specify possible courses of action, together with their risks, costs and benefits.
Systems theory is closely connected to cybernetics, and also to system dynamics, which models
changes in a network of coupled variables
Depending upon the problem situation, the system needs to be conceptualized using either the
mechanistic, organismic, cultural or political metaphors (Flood and Jackson, 1991) or a combination
of these. Thus, a theory of physical systems can help us in developing a mechanistic view of the
systems to begin with, which can then be developed further by using other approaches along with the
physical system theory.
According to Etizioni (1968), a physical system theory is easy to understand. The world is usually

Patrick Henry Speech Summary
On March 23, 1775, Patrick Henry, one of the crucial motivators of the American Revolution, delivers
a speech in the Second Virginia Convention regarding gaining independence from Britain. Henry s
diction, allusions and counterarguments aid in his purpose of making the delegates feel the tyrannical
rule by the British and believing in going to war with them is the only option in attaining freedom.
Henry s diction portrays the British as untrustworthy and dishonorable. In the beginning of his speech,
Henry states that he considers the need of independence from the British nothing less than a question
of freedom or slavery. The words freedom and slavery are provided as ultimatums in which one can
only have one, not both. The negative connotation conveyed through the word slavery make the
delegates in the convention compare their situation of being ruled by the Britains to that of a slave and
slave owner, leading to the consensus of the immorality displayed by the British. Therefore the
delegates feel the absolute power the British have over the American colonists which incites a fear
over their lack of control. The word freedom is most commonly associated with something one must
fight to win. Through this word, Henry is able to imply to his audience that the Americans must fight
with the Britains in order to gain freedom. In addition, when describing the military preparations the
British are taking, Henry expresses that these war like preparations ... cover American

Listening Skills Essay
Listening is one of the important skills among three other English skills; reading, writing and
speaking. Listening play significant role in language development. Listening is the ability to hear and
understand what other people say. It is also the basic skill that we have in learning language because
we listen before we speak. Just take the example of the babies. Before they can talk with their parents,
they only give signs when they want to communicate with them by crying. They only listen to the
speech or sounds that close to them. By the time, they gain all of knowledge and information from the
people near them. Then, they start to imitate and try to speak. Of course, this takes time, the babies
cannot talk directly when they listen to the language. So, this is the same as the learners who try to
learn English as a second language. Especially in listening ability. Listening is a receptive skill
because the learners do not need to produce the language. They only receive and try to understand the

The French Revolution inspired the desire for change and freedom from oppression. Being limited by
the Roman Catholic Church and government was no longer ideal, resulting in many new proposals. Of
these proposals was the notion of wanting to change the Gregorian calendar to a new and non religious

The new calendar should not have changed because everyone was already used to the system of the
Gregorian calendar. Making a new calendar will confuse many and throw off schedules of customary
practices (Document 2). Abbe Sieyes responded with this because he was a clergyman who supported
the National Assembly, meaning that the new calendar could consequently result in hardships for the
lower class, which went against what Sieyes fought for. Adding onto this, the people of the lower class
will have a harder time with the new ten days in a week. Working nine out of ten of those days doing
hard labor is vigorous work that required all of their time. A peasant at this time would hate the
Revolutionary calendar because having only one day to take a break is not enough for one to fully
regenerate themselves after constant weeks of labor (Document 4). In addition, this calendar upset
many because it was imposed on the people by force, no one previously had a problem with the
Gregorian calendar (Document 5). Also, images of spiritual related objects will constantly be seen and
since the people were accustomed to religion, practices and traditions will never fade away (Document

among the people and will notice that the new calendar system is flawed. It was only a matter of time

Students Consciousness Towards Littering in Pacific...
STUDENT CONSCIOUSNESS TOWARDS LITTERING IN PAU CAMPUS
A paper
Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the subject

By
Jacinta Kaupa
Aim : The aim of this survey was to find out how conscious the students are towards littering.
Introduction
Pacific Adventist University is an institution where people from all over the Pacific, Papua New
Guinea and other parts of the world come to learn and get educated. Indeed it is the most beautiful
place in Papua New Guinea as most critics say. This is because of the landscape and the well
preserved lawn with the variety of birds and the lakes. However, it is not as beautiful as many people
think when speaking of littering. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The behavior of the students consciousness towards littering in the campus is not really getting out of
hand. Not all students have the don t care attitude as the result is stating. Students falls into two
different categories. There are students who have the heart to keep their study environment clean and
there are those who do not. Those that practice littering have a fair idea that it is wrong. But yet they
tend do it without thinking. The next paragraph will describe further on such behavior of the students .
According to the result everybody is trying to say that they do not want littering. For the positive
statements they are responding positively and for the negative statement they are responding
negatively. Students may not want to discard rubbishes like piece of paper or an empty packet of
something anywhere, but apparently they do. This may happen due to laziness, maybe because
ofdistance between them and the rubbish bin. They do not want to walk because it might take some of
their time (time factor). This clearly shows that students have attitude problem even though they are
educated. Knowing that littering is wrong and yet doing it can explain that there is an attitude
problem. Cialdini and others (1981:255) strongly agree that littering is a measure of attitude . Littering
especially occurs when someone (who cares) is not watchingor witnessing

6. Previous study on Applying CLT in Non Western Contexts:
Nonkukhetkhong et al (2006) investigated perceptions and implementation of five Thai EFL teachers
of the Lerner centred approach (LCA) to teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) in Thai
secondary school contexts through employing interviews, classroom observation and self reporting as
methods of investigation. The findings of this study revealed an interest among the teachers to
implement the LCA and CLT for TEFL but reported many contextual challenges for this
implementation (see 3.3.4). Although the sample involved in this study was not representative, its
findings were very interesting and indicative. Promising results about the implementation of the

It also suggests that the syllabus can be used as a guide for leading EFL teachers and students to
implement the CLCA effectively. Al Nouh (2008) investigated the implementation of 23 Kuwaiti EFL
primary school teachers of a CLT based learner centred method through interviews and classroom
observation. He reported that the teachers were implementing a teacher centred method despite the
learner centred training they had received during their university teacher education. He attributed this
to these teachers focus on teaching to the test. The findings of this study revealed the mismatch
between the teachers perceptions of their own practice with their actual practice inside classrooms.
The more experienced teachers had better knowledge and skills for implementing a CLT based learner
centred method than the less experienced (Al Nouh, 2008). Kirkgoz (2008) conducted a 2 year case
study (2003 2005) to investigate 32 Turkish EFL state primary school teachers instructional practices
and the impact of their understanding and training on their implementation of the communicative
oriented innovation. Classroom observation and interviews were employed as tools for data collection
in this study. This investigation revealed a considerable deviation in the classroom practices of sixteen

DSM Classification System
The DSM classification system, or The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders is used

Horatio s Betrayal In Hamlet
Betrayal is defined as treachery or disloyalty. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare this is what
ultimately led Hamlet and his loved ones to their deaths. From Claudius and Gertrude to Polonius,
Ophelia, and Laertes. By the end of the play basically everyone except for Horatio has betrayed
Hamlet in some way, even Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. The first act of betrayal is done by
Claudius. He killed his brother, the king, by poisoning him. Oh, my offence is rank. It smells to
heaven. It hath the primal eldest curse upon t, A brother s murder. Pray can I not (3.3 38 40). Not only
did Claudius betray his brother he also betrayed Hamlet; because he killed the king Hamlet no longer

Eventually Hamlet is able to put some stuff together, like the fact that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
betrayed him and are working for Claudius behind his back. However, for some reason he can t put
together the fact that Laertes and Claudius teamed up and planned his death. At this point Gertrude is
dead because the plan backfired and the only reason Laertes confessed to Hamlet was because he was
going to die. By telling Hamlet the truth Laertes is confessing his sins and believes he is going to go to
heaven. As soon as Laertes is finished talking Hamlet goes straight for Claudius. Here, thou
incestuous, murderous, damnèd Dane, Drink off this potion. Is thy union here? Follow my mother.

The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold
Many events in an individual s life can cause them to experience grief such as, losing a loved one, a
tragic event, or even a breakup. Being in denial is hard. When someone is in denial, they do not
exactly know what to think of the situation and they do not want to believe it. A person in denial will
act differently than someone who is not. They may not speak much, zone out often, and will not make
themselves presentable when going out into public. Alice Sebold wrote The Lovely Bones, which was
a book about a 14 year old girl, Susie, who was murdered on her way home from school by her
neighbor. Her entire family experienced grief from the tragic death. Susie watched down on her family
from heaven, and saw her mom abandoned her family and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abigail was self centered for making the decision she made. This moment demonstrates family
dynamic because even though they were once happy, Abigail s decision to leave has changed
everything. She does not want to deal with anyone but herself. Abigail compares to someone in
modern day in denial because people today still shut everyone else in their life out when they are
going through denial.
Lindsey handled denial better than the rest of her family members. She was old enough to handle it the
way she wanted to. It did not really hit Lindsey that her sister, Susie, was really gone until she went
into Susie s room for the first time since her death and realized that all of Susie s clothes were now
hers. Gosh , she said, whispering into the darkness of my closet. She realized with guilt and glee that
everything she saw before her was hers now (Sebold 106). This shows that Lindsey is in denial
because that is when she realizes that Susie will never be coming back to wear any of her clothes
again. Lindsey is strong when around her family, but when she is alone, that is when her true feelings
begin to hit her. This contributes to isolation because she isolates her feelings from her family and
only lets them show when she is alone. The only time Lindsey actually expressed some form of
emotion was when she was speaking to her principal, Mr. Caden, about playing soccer. Lindsey said, I
d say it would be pretty hard to play soccer on the soccer

Unfortunately, it also is highly unattainable and instills unrealistic goals in girls minds. According to
the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, there are up to 24 million
people suffering from eating disorders and 86% of those are under the age of 20 (anad.org). That being
said, negative adverse effects are often the results of our world placing the upmost importance on
body image. At Radboud University, Doeschka Anschutz and Rutger Engels conducted an experiment
designed to test the effects of playing with thin dolls on body image and food intake in 6 10 year old
girls. After splitting the girls into three different groups where they either played with a thin doll, an
average sized doll or a slightly oversized doll, as seen in figure one, the results yielded that indeed
there were significant differences between the girls body image and food intake which was completely
dependent on which doll they played with (Anschutz, Engels 625). For example, a girl that played
with the thinnest doll, the Barbie Doll, consumed the least amount of food following playtime when
girls that played with either the average sized doll or even slightly larger doll consumed significantly
more food. This experiment explicitly highlights the unknown dangers associated with playing with
Barbie Dolls at a young age. Immediately the doll caused young girls to see themselves as too big or

While the relative debt and equity values can be easily determined, calculating the costs of debt and
equity can be problematic. In calculating each component, we are given many different options and
proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital
mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take
into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem
with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult
to maintain (Borad, 2012).
Conclusion
Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. To tackle
this issue, WACC is one of the most widely used formulas even though the process is difficult, and
results seem ambiguous. However, it is clear that WACC is the average cost of capital the firm must
pay, in this case Home Depot (HD), to all its investors, both debt and equity holders. Since HD has
debt to the tune of $29.6 billion (2012), it means that rwacc is an average of its debt and equity cost of
capital. Based on the limiting factors revealed on the page 5, our confidence level in HD s WACC is
moderate. Nevertheless, since HD s WACC is 5.97% it means that the company should only invest in

Comparing Gilgamesh And The Hero s Journey
While reading the first half of Gilgamesh, I noticed many similarities to the plot lines of later
mythological and fantasy works. In most of these heroic tales they loosely or strictly follow a
schematic called the Hero s Journey. The Hero s Journey consists of a hero, obviously, who is set apart
from his/her peers at birth usually caused by the gods and/or goddesses. For example, Gilgamesh is
born two thirds god and one third man, automatically making him different than his people. Then said
hero receives a call to adventure, otherworldly help, they typically face many challenges and
temptations along the way, and commonly beat death before transforming and returning home.
Gilgamesh s call to adventure is merely him wanting to make a name

Cinnamon Essay
I closed my eyes and sat quietly in the classroom. The slightest scent of cinnamon in the air and I was

triggered.
The first sense that my brain detected was my sense of smell. I could smell holiday baking in the

gingerbread, pumpkin pie, basically I could smell any fragrance associated with just plain cinnamon.

the park I could feel the crisp air chilling my body with each gust of wind. It was so cold that fall that
my cheeks, nose, and ears turned bright red. For this brief moment still sitting silent in class I could
feel chills up my spine just thinking of how cold it was.
Although the classroom was quiet I could hear otherwise. I let my imagination take over and I heard
all kinds of sounds. I could hear the front door squeaking as the wind blew it opened and closed. There
was noise from the tree branches rattling. Often I could hear the hooves of a horse clattering against
the pavement. The noisy neighbors leave blower sounded an annoying buzz making it hard to
concentrate from time to time. There are many different noises I hear when I reminisce about autumn.
When I concentrated hard enough I could actually taste the foods which I had previously smelled.

The Weeknd Discourse Community Examples
Many examples of discourse community can be seen when you consider music. Every artist has two

listened to the artist since they have started singing/rapping. These loyal fans are the groups who make

How To Build A Golf Cart
If you own a golf cart, or are thinking about purchasing one, you want to get the most out of your
investment. Adding some useful accessories is a super way to accomplish that objective. Here are four
handy items you can add to your golf cart to increase its usefulness.
Covers and Enclosures
No matter how often you use your golf cart, you want to keep it good condition. An excellent way to
ensure your cart stays looking like new is to add either a functional enclosure, or a custom cover. The
enclosure does more than just preserve your cart s condition. Enclosures allow you to use your cart in
all weather conditions, plus they protect the inside of your golf cart.
Covers will completely protect your golf cart when you re not using it. Just because you add an
enclosure, that doesn t mean a cover is also not a good accessory to have. A golf cart cover is a
protective blanket over your entire cart. It keeps dirt, grime and weather off your investment. Consider

Government s Immense Control Over the American Population...
When a politician speaks does it cross the minds of others to truly believe and trust that they know
what they are talking about? What is politics? Politics is the art or science of government, especially
the governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal
and external affairs (Politics Definition). The government regulates or censors everything from what
we watch on TV to what the future of America (i.e. children) learns at school. Is this type of control
necessarily a good thing? Politics and politicians alike should not have as much power in the control

Although censorship in some cases is a necessary thing, for example, children s programming, kids do
not need to be exposed to that sort of information. Adults need that information because, they re the
ones who are voting and taking a control of the nation. At the high school level the students need to

Wild Land Analysis
Land is a natural resource that is often mistreated due to human activities. If we learned anything from
our past, it is that history leads the same course for those who misuses the environment. Therefore the
government have gone through extreme preventative measures to protect our environment by
designating Wild lands . The Bureau of Land Management (BML) is given the power to designate
wild lands and control the use of it. Much controversy have arisen since then and the debate on
whether or not Wild Lands are harming rural economies is still ongoing. Mike Mckee, a speaker at the
House Natural Resources Hearing Committee, fought against designated wild lands because he
believed it was creating an economic crisis. Land that was once used ... Show more content on

Middleton first introduced Justice Scalia and included a quote of her criticizing the implementation of
the act. This is effective because people are more likely going to believe Scalia over Middleton even
though they have the same opinions since she is more influential and powerful. Middleton also
included the quotes of the Service and the Service s secretary, Gary Franzer. Despite all having
different things to say about the litigation of the act, all can agree that the funds are not being
prioritized for the right matter which is to help these endangered species recover. But instead they are
being used towards responding to petitions and court cases (Middleton 84). This aligns with
Middleton s own claim which helps him build

The Tempest
Remember back to childhood. If we had siblings, we would beat them up because they took our toy or
something meaningless. We feel we got justice. But right after that we were asking for forgiveness
because the power of the I ll tell mom phrase was too much for our little minds. That back and forth is
the whole basis behind Shakespeare s The Tempest. In his final poem, he wants to convey that justice
and forgiveness can go hand in hand.
For example, justice and forgiveness may not happen at the same time, but they can. When Ferdinand
woke up and started walking around the island, Ariel came to him and started singing a song Come
unto.../ Full fathom five.../ were his eyes (1.2 375 397) The song worked really well only because of
the almost comedic effect of the song s transition. It seemed as if the gods were saying sorry to
Ferdinand, then in no time Prospero got his justice by making Ferdinand feel sick to his stomach.
When traveling along the isle, the survivors see a table of food, and Alonso says I will stand to, and
feed.../ [Thunder and lightning] (3.3 49/stage directions). The people that never really did anything to
Prospero are happy, feeling like they ve been forgiven for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end when Prospero is about to leave, we notice that Caliban never really forgives Prospero.
Even though Prospero does some good stuff for Caliban, he still beat him up. As evident by a poem
from Virgil Suarez (about the play, but not the official words from Shakespeare) Caliban has tons of
issues on the outside of his body, meaning that Prospero s treatment of him will last forever. Caliban
has another side to that story though. Caliban is free and has an island to himself, which was his
dream. Yes he has to deal with tons of issues on the outside, if he owns the island to himself, there s no
one there to see them. All in all, Caliban is an interesting character that can t really forgive, but has

Civil War Military Draft
Since the Civil War the United States has been using the military draft to defend the country. The draft
is the reason why the U.S. is the powerhouse it is today. The military draft has been successful for all
the wars we fought, so why stop it now? The Unites States gives its citizens freedom that most
countries don t allow. To ensure the citizens natural rights the United States citizens should show
loyalty and be willing to fight when called for duty. An all volunteer army is filled with citizens from
low income households. The minorities in the country fill these positions. The all volunteer army is an

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Essay
Gun control has been one of the widely debated topics in the United States and all over the world.
Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are parts of the gun control
argument that might be considered. Considering that the topic is whether or not the right to bear arms
should include assault rifles, the definition of an assault rifle needs to be established. According to the
NRA, an assault rifle is, By U.S. Army definition, a selective fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of
intermediate power. If applied to any semi automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a
true assault rifle, the term is incorrect. The other key term that plays a major role in this subject is the
second amendment. The second amendment states this: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to
the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included in the discussion.
There are pro gun control advocates say that countries such as Australia with no guns have a lower
rate of gun related violence. The people that are against gun control believe quite the opposite and cite
the rate of gun related violence in Chicago as their proof against it. Another argument that supports
gun control is that the injuries that are treated with our tax money, and that this is a waste of money
that could be put towards other beneficial programs for

  • 2. The New And Older Generations Of The United Ages Of 18 And... Assimilation As the American economy continues to incorporate the younger generation into the working class, steps must be taken to maximize employee potential. The impact of workers between the ages of 18 and 32, Generation Y or Millennials, is unquestionably an organizational concern for many employers. According to a 2013 Ernst Young survey, 87% of Millennials have moved into management positions in the last five years. With that level of upward mobility, issues and conflicts are certain to arise due to the vastly different workplace ethics, management styles, etc. held by the new and older generations. For a company to be an innovative competitor in the marketplace, it is important for its employees to be able to work productively while accommodating generational differences. The 2013 Ernst Young survey also found that more than 69% of respondents said their company had made an effort to alleviate the challenges that arise with a generational blend. Employee cooperation is an important goal for these companies because it is vital for them to thrive in the rapidly evolving workplace. Without cooperation between the distinct generational groups, management problems will certainly arise. Leaders should attempt to mitigate these problems by allowing employees to work in a style that suits their particular needs. While certain standards must be in place to maintain orderly operations, flexibility must be demonstrated so that employees remain loyal to the firm. Favoring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theme Of The Poem Strange Fruit A world without judgement is a world that does not exist. To this day, 4.6 million Australians are targeted by racial discrimination. That is 1 in 5 of your friends, being judged for having a skin colour that is seen as wrong . We were not born black, nor were we born white, but what the world told us and what society brainwashed us to believe that black and white are not the same and should remain different. Racism is a belief that a particular race is superior to another resulting in segregation in the world. It causes a gap in our society disallowing us to stand as one. For centuries, racial discrimination has been occurring world wide from the Nazi Germany to the Jim Crow Laws in Southern United States. More specifically in Southern United States, the murder of thousands of African American people driven by the hatred of the whites, occurred through the practice of lynching. This popular event attracted many people including poet Abel Meeropol who was haunted by this ionic photo in 1930. This inspired him to write a poem protesting against racial discrimination which forces people to confront to the grim reality of racism. The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol paints a hostile picture of the lifeless bodies hung by a necklace of rope. Throughout the poem, the poet has utilised poetic devices to enhance the message of racial discrimination against the African Americans. The title Strange Fruit in itself is a metaphor for the victims of lynching, these victims were mainly African Americans, and some were not even put to trial before they were sentenced death. Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees is a quote from the poem utilising the poetic device of imagery. It is portrayed in a casual manner as lynching is found to be a common event which occurred in their everyday life. The last line of the poem reads here is a strange and bitter crop . Focusing more specifically on the metaphor crop , the blacks were seen nothing more than fruit for the crows to pluck . Because their skin was not white, their life is worth no more less than crops; crops who were left outside for birds to eat. Throughout the poem, juxtaposition is used to compare and contrast the idea of racial discrimination. Scent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of these technologies look to free society from the shackles of old while others look to upgrade the shackles and remove our veil of freedom. One of these topics that look to shackle us to our government overlords is their ability for mass surveillance. This activity affords them a power like that never seen before. Through mass surveillance the government is handed a way to spy on everything we do, in both our online lives as well as our physical lives. It allows them to circumvent our policy of privacy and store entire databases that calculate and correlate our lives. This is more power than any person or institution should ever be able to have and can lead to societies mimicking that of an Orwellian dystopian future. The amount of power and control that mass surveillance gives a government entity would lead to the loss of one s free will. The pathway that these actions lead to is an attempt at a system like that found in Minority Report where institutions use this technique to try to predict future crime and arrest people for things that they did not commit. This is loss of freedom which leads to the loss of our inalienable rights found in the Constitution. Applications include engineering, computing, ecology, management, and family psychotherapy. Systems analysis, developed independently of systems theory, applies systems principles to aid a decision maker with problems of identifying, reconstructing, optimizing, and controlling a system (usually a socio technical organization), while taking into account multiple objectives, constraints and resources. It aims to specify possible courses of action, together with their risks, costs and benefits. Patrick Henry Speech Summary On March 23, 1775, Patrick Henry, one of the crucial motivators of the American Revolution, delivers a speech in the Second Virginia Convention regarding gaining independence from Britain. Henry s diction, allusions and counterarguments aid in his purpose of making the delegates feel the tyrannical rule by the British and believing in going to war with them is the only option in attaining freedom. Henry s diction portrays the British as untrustworthy and dishonorable. In the beginning of his speech, Henry states that he considers the need of independence from the British nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery. The words freedom and slavery are provided as ultimatums in which one can only have one, not both. The negative connotation conveyed through the word slavery make the delegates in the convention compare their situation of being ruled by the Britains to that of a slave and slave owner, leading to the consensus of the immorality displayed by the British. Therefore the delegates feel the absolute power the British have over the American colonists which incites a fear over their lack of control. The word freedom is most commonly associated with something one must fight to win. Through this word, Henry is able to imply to his audience that the Americans must fight with the Britains in order to gain freedom. The findings of this study revealed the mismatch between the teachers perceptions of their own practice with their actual practice inside classrooms. The more experienced teachers had better knowledge and skills for implementing a CLT based learner centred method than the less experienced (Al Nouh, 2008). • 24. The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold Many events in an individual s life can cause them to experience grief such as, losing a loved one, a tragic event, or even a breakup. Being in denial is hard. When someone is in denial, they do not exactly know what to think of the situation and they do not want to believe it. A person in denial will act differently than someone who is not. They may not speak much, zone out often, and will not make themselves presentable when going out into public. Alice Sebold wrote The Lovely Bones, which was a book about a 14 year old girl, Susie, who was murdered on her way home from school by her neighbor. Her entire family experienced grief from the tragic death. Susie watched down on her family from heaven, and saw her mom abandoned her family and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abigail was self centered for making the decision she made. This moment demonstrates family dynamic because even though they were once happy, Abigail s decision to leave has changed everything. She does not want to deal with anyone but herself. Abigail compares to someone in modern day in denial because people today still shut everyone else in their life out when they are going through denial. Lindsey handled denial better than the rest of her family members. She was old enough to handle it the way she wanted to. It did not really hit Lindsey that her sister, Susie, was really gone until she went into Susie s room for the first time since her death and realized that all of Susie s clothes were now hers. Gosh , she said, whispering into the darkness of my closet. She realized with guilt and glee that everything she saw before her was hers now (Sebold 106). This shows that Lindsey is in denial because that is when she realizes that Susie will never be coming back to wear any of her clothes again. Lindsey is strong when around her family, but when she is alone, that is when her true feelings begin to hit her. This contributes to isolation because she isolates her feelings from her family and only lets them show when she is alone. The only time Lindsey actually expressed some form of emotion was when she was speaking to her principal, Mr. Caden, about playing soccer. That being said, negative adverse effects are often the results of our world placing the upmost importance on body image. At Radboud University, Doeschka Anschutz and Rutger Engels conducted an experiment designed to test the effects of playing with thin dolls on body image and food intake in 6 10 year old girls. After splitting the girls into three different groups where they either played with a thin doll, an average sized doll or a slightly oversized doll, as seen in figure one, the results yielded that indeed there were significant differences between the girls body image and food intake which was completely dependent on which doll they played with (Anschutz, Engels 625). For example, a girl that played with the thinnest doll, the Barbie Doll, consumed the least amount of food following playtime when girls that played with either the average sized doll or even slightly larger doll consumed significantly more food. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the relative debt and equity values can be easily determined, calculating the costs of debt and equity can be problematic. In calculating each component, we are given many different options and proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult to maintain (Borad, 2012). Conclusion Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. To tackle this issue, WACC is one of the most widely used formulas even though the process is difficult, and results seem ambiguous. However, it is clear that WACC is the average cost of capital the firm must pay, in this case Home Depot (HD), to all its investors, both debt and equity holders. Since HD has debt to the tune of $29.6 billion (2012), it means that rwacc is an average of its debt and equity cost of capital.
