Swami Vivekananda was born Narendra Nath Dutta in 1863 in Calcutta, India. He showed a keen intellect from a young age and practiced meditation. He became a monk and took the name Swami Vivekananda. According to Vivekananda, education should develop character, intellect, and self-confidence through cultural, moral, scientific, and vocational teachings. It should be taught through lectures, meditation, and individual guidance in a positive environment. He saw education as a way to spiritually uplift all of humanity regardless of identity and help create a strong, peaceful nation without divisions.
