Information is essential in every decision making. Information is usually gathered from various sources to give a better picture of what we want to know and on what bases we are making such a decision. This module presents several sources of information about career choices that could influence or modify the decisions we make for our future.
Assessment of Future Needs, Costing the Future Needs.pptxDrHafizKosar
A difference between "what is" and "what should be" is referred to as a "need." The term "need" describes the difference between a desired condition (what should be) and the current situation (what is). The space between the present and the future is what is needed. Ideally, needs assessments are initially conducted to determine the needs of the people (service receivers for example parents, students) for whom the organization or system exists. It can be defined specifically as:
“Needs assessment sets priorities and determines criteria for solutions so that planners and managers can make sound decisions for achieving desired goals.”
1.3. What is Need Assessment?
Needs assessments (White, J., & Altschuld, J. 2012) focus more on goals and results than on the steps taken. For example, the goal might be students becoming good readers, and the steps include reading practice and effective teaching. Data is collected using common methods and strategies designed with specific goals in mind. The choice of methods depends on how well they fit the objectives and the specific situation of the need’s assessment. Priorities and criteria for solutions are established to help planners and managers make smart decisions.
1.4.1. Key Components of Assessment of Future Needs:
Here are some key components of future needs Assessment:
1. Demographic Analysis:
Understanding population growth, age distribution, and migration patterns to predict student enrollment and educational infrastructure requirements.
2. Technological Trends:
Evaluating the impact of emerging technologies on education, including the need for digital resources, online learning platforms, and technology infrastructure.
3. Economic Considerations:
Analyze the economic trends to anticipate funding availability and budget.
4. Global and Local Context:
Consider global and local trends in education to ensure alignment with international standards and competitiveness.
5. Societal Changes:
Examine societal shifts and values that may influence educational priorities, such as the emphasis on inclusivity, diversity, and evolving job market demands.
6. Educational Research:
Consider findings from educational research to inform evidence-based decision making and program development.2.7. How To Calculate Cost Analysis?
You can use these steps to calculate a cost analysis ratio:
1. Determine the reason you need a cost analysis:
When you do a cost analysis, how you use it depends on why you're doing it. Figure out why you need the cost analysis to know what things you should consider. For instance, if you're making a project budget, you might look at budget details from past projects.
2. Evaluate cost:
Now, let's look at the costs connected to the project. Make a list of all these costs, so it's handy for what comes next. Think about any surprise costs that might pop up and how the costs might change as time goes on.
This very helpful for the students because i have added mostly things from the best sources. I try my best to upload good quality material for you and students so guys enjoy it.
Promoting the learning mobility of future workers: experiments with virtual p...eLearning Papers

Virtual placements are learning arrangements, which generate new possibilities for accumulating professional (work-based) knowledge. Virtual placements are beneficial in many ways; they merit increased training opportunities, exposure to un-/never-thought-of occupations, integration of disadvantaged individuals, and preparation of, and blending with, physical placements.
Job Shadowing: practical approaches to an effective career guidance interventionEduSkills OECD
To celebrate the first ever Global Careers Month we ran a webinar exploring the role of job shadowing in the career preparation of teenagers. Job shadowing is a form of career exploration that along with workplace visits has been identified in OECD analysis of multiple longitudinal datasets as an career guidance intervention that can commonly be linked to better employment outcomes in adulthood. Job shadowing allows students to investigate potential futures in work, connecting with people working in fields of interest. However, while it is not difficult to organise, job shadowing is rarely offered by schools.
During this webinar we introduced job shadowing as a career development approach and set out the evidence for why schools should consider offering it.
The presentation includes an introduction from Anthony Mann, Senior Policy Analyst (Career Readiness), OECD directorate for Education and Skills. This was followed by a presentation from Aaron Levine from Chicago Public Schools in the United States on how to organise job shadowing effectively. The final presentation was by Wenka Wentzel, from Kompetenzz, Germany on how job shadowing in annual Girls’ Days and Boys’ Days helps students explore careers where their gender is underrepresented.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Occupational information service (By Azhar Ali Khan)
1.
2.
3. For the student community, information on different educational careers and
occupations is noteworthy and worth mentioning. Because to make a wise
choice or proper decision on any matter, the pupils must be well informed
about the pros and cons of that matter.
Hence for providing detail information relating any matter, a service may be
meant for this. Similarly for giving detail information to pupils on different
occupations a service is meant for it which is called “occupational information
service.”
In the field of education (in schools) the main work of the guidance officer is
to help his students in securing educational experience and to help him to
evaluate his opportunities and limitations. It is expected that the pupils will be
provided with accurate and usable information before leaving school. Such a
step will be much helpful to bridge the gap between the employment
opportunities and the resources of the personnel.
4. Concept:-
Occupational information is information about the world of
work‘. Occupational information covers pertinent and reliable
information relating to various occupations which includes:-

occupation, minimum conditions for entrance, promotion
opportunities, health and hazard compensations etc.
6. (i) Information about various jobs.
(ii) Information about various industries.
(iii) Information about training facilities.
(iv) Information about placement facilities.
(v) Information about Common errors in choosing an occupation.
(vi) Information about various items to be considered in choosing an

5. Placement:
As the student gets reliable and accurate information about the job, through
occupational information it helps in placement. The student gets information
about personality traits required for a particular job, which helps in getting the
job.
Apart from this, occupational information has important role in preparation of
selection tests for jobs, upgradation of skills of employed manpower and
international comparison of occupational data.
9. 1. Follow up Survey
2. Community Occupational Survey
3. Community Educational Survey
4. Want –Ad Survey
Follow up Survey:-The follow up survey can be conducted to
find out career adjustments of school leavers. These provide
information about educational and employment opportunities
in the community. The occupational facts provided by the
survey help the school students to plan their career
realistically.
10. Community Occupational Survey:
The enumeration and description of jobs in a geographically
defined area. The survey provides an overview of
occupational information about community specific
occupations, man power trends and requirements. If you
want to conduct a community occupational survey, you
have to visit with your colleagues to a near by
office/agency/industry and obtain relevant information on
name and address of the organization existing occupations,
man power requirements i.e. job openings, eligibility,
requirements and salary.
11. Community Educational Survey:
It is conducted to collect detailed information about
educational institutions in a particular geographical area. This
survey covers all types of educational institutions such as
schools, colleges (medical,engineering,vocational) ,distance
education centers etc. Relevant information collected on
courses offered, number of seats, procedure of admission,
fees, hostel, scholarship etc. will give insight. The
prospectus, information bulletin of different institutions can be
studied and analyzed to compare educational facilities.
12. Want –Ad Survey:
This is the simplest and least expensive survey. It is a
periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly) tabulation of the job openings
as advertised in news papers. Here two types of advertisements i.e.
Help want ads (provides information regarding job openings).
Situation vacant ads (provide data of supply of workers
