The Relationship between Leadership Style and Organizational Commitment at De...feleke2014
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between leadership styles and organizational commitment at Defense University. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a cross sectional survey design was used. The sample of the study consisted of 153 employees from 5 different colleges of Defense University. Both leaders and their subordinates were participated in the study. Two standardized questionnaires i.e. Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire which was developed by Bass and Avolio (1995) and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire developed by Allen and Meyer (1990) were used to gather data. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, mean and standard deviations were used while inferential statistics such as t-test and a two tailed Pearson correlation were used. The t-test analysis showed that leaders and subordinates have different perceptions on leadership styles at Defense University. The two-tailed correlation analysis further revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between transformational leadership behaviors and organizational commitment (affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment) but the relationship was not strong. Transactional leadership behavior had a weak but significant and positive relationship with affective, continuance and normative commitments. For laissez-faire leadership style, the correlation analysis results indicated that there was no statistically significant correlation between laissez-faire leadership behavior and organizational commitment. From the results, it was possible to conclude that both transformational and transactional leadership behaviors were positively related with affective, continuance and normative commitments whereas laissez-fair leadership behavior had no relationship with organizational commitment at Defense University. Finally, the study recommended that both transformational and transactional leadership behaviors can play a major role in developing and improving affective, continuance and normative commitments at Defense University.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. Hobbies
• I enjoy playing guitar, singing and
performing on stage. I also enjoy song
writing.
4. Print Media
• I often read online music magazines
such as Rolling Stone and NME. I prefer
to read them online because its free and
I like to read specific articles.
Radio Media
• I listen to several music stations such as
Radio 1, Radio Norfolk and BBC
Introducing in Norfolk. I like to listen to
and support new music, especially up
and coming unsigned artists as I know
how hard it is to break into the music
industry.
5. Music Industry
• My favourite music genres include indie/rock, folk and
country. I do not belong to a band yet, but I am a
singer/songwriter myself and play with other musicians for
fun.
• I have mixed opinions on illegal downloading of music. From
a musician's perspective I can see that illegal downloading of
music is wrong because the musician is not being credited for
their work or receiving any money. On the other hand I can
see why people download music illegally, because it is a fast
and easily accessible way of listening to music which you do
not have to pay for.
• The music industry can influence people in a number of
different ways. Fans want to dress like their favourite band
because they idolise them and want to be like them. The
industry can influence people's attitudes because lyrics can
evoke people to think in a certain way or change their
attitude. The music industry promotes bands and artists who
have an image, and therefore young people want to follow
their image and aspire to be like them.
6. Video Games
• I do not engage in any form of video games.
• Video games may have a negative effect on
attitudes to gender and attitudes to the solution
of conflicts. In regards to gender, the
stereotypical main character is most often male
and is perusing or rescuing a female character.
Although saying this discrimination plays part in
both sexes.
• In regards to conflict, war is seen as a thrilling
and the aim of many video games is to kill. This
alters people's perceptions of war, as video games
often make it look exciting and fun.
7. Social Network Sites
• There are several positive and negative points about social
networking. The positive points include making new social
connections, 70% of adults use social media such as
Facebook to connect with relatives. Social Network sites
such as Linkedln help job recruiters when looking for an
employee also.
• The negative points about social networking include less
face to face communication. This leads to people spending
more time on social media sites and less time meeting
friends or family. Social Networking sites can also give
false information which people are likely to believe because
it's on the internet.
8. Television
• I do not have a favourite television
channel but my favourite genre has to be
comedy because it is light hearted and
entertaining.
• My two favourite television programmes
are Friends and Would I Lie To You?
Friends will always be my favourite
programme because I could watch each
episode over and over again and still
laugh. Would I Lie To You? is hilarious
and always has entertaining guests.
9. Feature Films
• My favourite genre is romantic comedy because even though
they are cliché I like the happy endings and I can always
relate to them.
• I consider Forrest Gump (1994), Good Will Hunting (1997)
and If I Stay (2014) outstanding films.
• Generally, I consume films at the cinema and on television.
My favourite cinema is the Odeon in Norwich, it is easily
accessible and the tickets aren't too expensive. I prefer to
watch films with my friends because I find it more enjoyable
and I like to discuss it with them afterwards.
Are you a media Producer?
• Unfortunately, no. I would like to be involved in the making of
a music videos though.
10. Why have you chosen media
studies as an option?
• I have chosen media studies because I
feel that it is a subject that I will
genuinely enjoy and it gives me a
chance to show my creative side. I
would like to develop a better
understanding of media and to
develop my practical skills.
11. Conclusion
• Nothing in the media has particularly
offended me recently, but I believe
Emma Watson’s “He for She”
campaign is the most exciting piece of
media text I have read.
• Watson is encouraging men to
acknowledge that gender equality is a
human rights issue and pledge to fight
the inequality that women face.
12. • Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the wind” has
altered the way I think about the world. It
has opened my mind to the evil and
suffering happening as the song asks
questions about peace, war and freedom.
• If I had the opportunity to construct a film
or music video, I would communicate the
message of people’s freedom in England.
