The document summarizes qualitative responses from a media questionnaire about a magazine article and spread. Respondents felt the magazine colors should be bold and eye-catching, with red being a prominent color. The headline "Got 'em running scared" was seen as interesting but vague. Feedback on the article concept was positive about focusing on a rising female artist, but some wanted more detail on her life and music. Suggestions to make the magazine appealing included featuring big stars through interviews and competitions, including news relevant to the target audience, and ensuring high quality images and a clear layout.
Many projects have experienced disappointment of stakeholders demanding desktop-like experience from web applications, or unnecessary increase of complexity in usage of innovative technologies.
The new range of different execution architectures for web applications brought new opportunities, new capabilities, that the application could offer. This made the definition of web applications a challenging task – important aspects of the application is left on intuition of architects and developers. Bad understanding of (implicit) preferences, priorities and expectations can lead to bad technology selection, to bad application design, and on the and to a bad application.
To bring the implicit expectations into explicit definition, a two-dimensional classification framework was developed, that helps to understand the application requirements, and helps to select the appropriate technology to fulfill the requirements.
Software "feels" restrictions of material world: space and time.
Smart software solutions / patterns - cache - tries to build an illusion of ideal world without space and time concerns.
Caching from basics to the enterprise use cases. If you are a developer and your applications are slower than expected during this talk you'll get principles and techniques to create faster applications.

Programming of middle and large size applications with a team of programmers require predefined style guides, structure, selected technologies and tools. Development with technologies and in platforms / languages, that are not familiar to the development team, hide different pitfalls, that could cause expensive problems.
Scaffolding / code generation is an effective answer for these challenges: it can increase productivity 3 times, and it gently enforces the architecture decisions also by less experienced developers.
This session introduces the Yeoman code generator framework. It shows the structure of generator code, speaks about testing of generators and pitfalls by writing your own generator.
Java is a mature programming language that is suitable to write reliable large programs. But Java hides also many traps. This talk summarizes experience from code quality review of a large enterprise application with over 1.5 million lines of code - problems and hidden bugs in code, and how to solve them.
Basic application design patterns for web, batch and integration applications in diagrams.
Languages, technologies, platforms are changing, but in each environment we recognize the same patterns and solutions.
Simple architecture principles expressed in twelve "factors" can prepare the application for simple deployment into diverse environments, infrastructures, platforms.

The first qualitative question was regarding the colour scheme of the whole magazine. Every person
said it should be bold and eye catching. The most prominent colour combination was red, yellow
and green as they are heavily associated with the genre. There were other suggestions, however
one colour that kept recurring was red.
The following question asked about the possible headline, “Got ‘em running scared.” The majority
of responses said they thought it was a good headline because it aroused interest and curiosity.
However some thought that the headline was too vague and needed added detail. One person said
that this kind of article is the typical “rising star” article that is all too common in music magazines.
Next was the concept of the article. Many felt it was a good idea as they think there is a lot of focus
on men in reggae and dancehall and is good to see a woman on taking charge. Some felt that it
needed to be more precise, for example focus on her life, music, style etc.
A key point is to keep the genre flowing through the magazine. There were a variety of suggestions.
One said that there should be concert reviews, interviews with stars in that genre. Another said
that the font might play a big part, reggae is rough so have the font graffiti like. One thought the
costume of the models and artists should be taken very carefully, make sure they aren’t heavily
done up with make up.
Lastly was the question of how to make the magazine appealing. There were again a variety of
responses. A common one though was to include big stars in the genre, exclusive interviews and
competitions. One person believed that women have a lot of power here, claiming everyone loves a
pretty women. A key thing was to remember my target audience and have the features based
round that. News was another main thing, a person said to have the latest news since where he
lives there aren’t many sources of information for him. There were suggestions concerning
layout, making sure images were of good quality and the overall layout must be clear.
