of Ear -
“The ear is the organ of
hearing..”

2. Structure of ear-
– It is derived into 3 parts –
– [a]. Outer ear.
– [b]. Middle ear.
– [c]. Inner ear.
– Outer ear consists pinna and ear canal..
– Middle ear included the tympanic cavity and the three ossicles..
– Inner ear sits in the bony labyrinth..

3. Outer ear =
It is the external portion of the ear ..
It provide protection and channels sound..
Pinna is the most visible part of the outer ear..
–[a]. Pinna = it is located on the side of the head ..and it is
the visible part of the ear externally..
– It collects the sound waves and channels..
– [b]. Ear canal = that is lined with hairs and glands that
secrete wax..

4. Middle ear -
– The middle ear is located between the external and inner ear..
– It is separated from the ear canal of the outer are by the eardrum ..
– There tiny bones –
– 01. malleus .
– 02 incus.
– 03. stapes.
– It is filled with numerous air spaces, which provides routes for infections to
travel..

5. Inner ear -
– It called as labyrinth because it complex shapes..
– There are 2 main sections of the ear : bony labyrinth and membranous..
– Cochlea is located inside the inner ear and made up of 3 fluid- filled chambers..
– Inside the cochlear ducts is the main hearing organ ..

6. Functions =
– Main two =
– 01. hearing .
– 02. balance .
– - hearing –
– When the sound wave enter the ear canal . Ossicle, 3 tiny bones pass vibrations
to the oval window , which a membrane at the entrance to the inner ear..
– = balance =
– Through a combination of sensory organ in the inner ear , visual input received
From receptor in the body around the joints..
