Benefit Of Technology In Society
Technology and Its Benefits Human Society
Technology is a beautiful thing and very beneficial to carrying out our daily lives. The internet lets us
develop application software where we can train our brains, entertain ourselves, and communicate
with almost anybody from anywhere in the world. Technology has also advanced so much that we are
creating robots to take over dangerous human jobs, and satellites to track the development of our solar
system. Most people use some type of technology in their life everyday whether it be a cellphone,
computer at work or even a watch to tell time. All of these aspects can surely have downsides, but they
do not amount to the number of beneficial opportunities that each provide to our daily lives.
Technology affects society tremendously and is definitely beneficial when looking at how it has
advanced over the years to improve the daily lives of the human society.
One of the most positive aspects of creating cellular technology is the fact that it helps build
relationships whether it be a simple phone call or an application of some sort such as a social media
platform. Cellular connection is detrimental in staying connected with the rest of society as it provides
us with speedy access and convenience to update us on our peer s lives, also it helps us keep up news
and what is going on in the media these days, and it helps people in job fields to maintain their
affiliations with cross country and international business partners. Steven

Movie Pass
Today the price of going to a movie is outrages, but people still love going and spending these
ridiculous prices. Now there is the new product called Movie Pass. Movie pass allows the customer to
pay $9.95 a month to see a movie a day. Rob Cain wrote an article titled My Long Delayed Review of
MoviePass: 3 Stars Out of 5 about his positives and negatives about this product and whether or not he
found this product to be effective. The main purpose of this article is to inform customer of this new
service and whether this it is a good investment for the consumer. Movie Pass allows those who love
going to the movies a chance to go more often without having to spend these crazy prices. The biggest
perk of this service is that for a low monthly price of $9.95 the ... Show more content on

When a product first comes out it isn t going to be the best and perfect thing. Cain begins the article
with his first issue, which was that the card did not come as fast as expected. Cain claimed, Last
Wednesday, after waiting more than six weeks for the MoviePass membership card that I d been
promised would arrive within five to seven days when I paid for it in August, this obviously is not a
great first impression, but is understandable that the company might be struggling with all of the
request, especially when it first came out. Cain still decided to go ahead and give the company a
second chance, he said But the $9.95 monthly price is too good to resist, and it s enough of a bargain
to make up for a lot of sins. This service also requires the customer to be within one hundred yards of
the theater to allow you to purchase the movie. Cain did not like this part of the service at all, but it is
understandable, because when you choose the movie on the app they load the money onto the
customers cars and then they go and pay for the movie. So, if the company let you choose from

Theme Of Fabliau In The Canterbury Tales
A fabliau is aptly categorized as a scandalous tale meant to satirize the bourgeois through the depiction
of bourgeois characters. This is the genre Chaucer writes The Miller s Tale, from his The Canterbury
Tales, in so he can distinguish the social class levels of the people on the pilgrimage. Chaucer shows
us the differences by paralleling then transforming certain aspects of this fabliau with the same
elements of the chivalric romance of the Knight s Tale.
Fabliaux are salacious tales driven by elements such as deception to acquire money or possessions, to
get sexual gratification, or to get revenge on somebody for a past wrong. The fabliau hinges upon an
elaborate trick, set up with huge care in the story, contains the climax of the tale, and ends abruptly as
the story itself ends. It is actually unknown whether the initial purpose of such a tale was for the
nobility to mock the non aristocrats with whom they competed for status, or whether the bourgeois
told fabliaux as an act of self mockery, to show how much the middle class has risen.
In the Miller s prologue, we can infer that the Host wants the chronology of the storytelling to follow
the levels of class; thus the reason why he solicits the Monk to tell a story after the noble Knight. The
Host wants the Monk repay the Knight a little for his tale, but the inebriated Miller volunteers to pay
the Knight his wages. (86, 87) From the context, it appears that the Miller interprets the Host s request
to repay

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber is a short story about a man named Walter Mitty.
Walter is an ordinary man living an ordinary life, however, Walter always seems to escape into one of
his fantasies while trying to accomplish everyday task. This often leads to Walter being mocked and
ridiculed by people around him. Furthermore, Walter s wife, Mrs. Mitty is dominant in their
relationship. She establishes many rules which Walter must fulfill. This is evident when, Walter drives
fifty five kilometers per hour, Mrs. Mitty demands Not so fast! You re driving too fast! ... You know I

Mitty] seemed grossly unfamiliar, like a stranger woman who had yelled at him in a crowd (2). Walter
Mitty is so unbelievably absentminded that he is unable to recognize his own wife. Similarly, Walter
divulges into his dream like state while almost crashing into a car. This causes the parking lot
attendant to sheik Back it up! Look out for that Buick! Walter Mitty jammed on the brakes. Wrong
lane, Mac, (3). Evidently, Walters s imagination causes him to lose consciousness of reality, thus,
causing Walter to be absentminded. Furthermore, diction also helps illuminate Walter character. After
entering the wrong lane, the parking lot attendant volunteers to park the car. As Walter hands him the
key, the attendant vaulted into the car, backed it up with insolent skill (3). This shows Walters opinion
towards the attendant. The choice of words vaulted and insolent indicates that Walter is jealous or
insecure when he says They re so damn cocky (4). This shows diction helped prove Walter is also
jealous or insure about himself. In addition, the narration of the story is narrated in third person,
limited omniscient point of view. This gives effective insights of Walter Mitty s thoughts and actions,
which helps to further analyze Walters s character. For instance, when Walter is unable to unwind the
chains of the axles, Mrs. Mitty forces Walter to unwind the chains at a garage. This makes Walter feel
uneasy, consequently, Walter decides to wear [his] right arm in a sling; they won t grin at [him] then. I

Dietetics Code Of Ethics Essay
Direct patient care services are to be provided by qualified, dietetic practitioners. There are many
resources available for practicing dietitians. Nonetheless, it is important to use the correct professional
resources when providing clinical services. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics should be the
primary source of information for clinical dietitians because it provides the tools and resources needed
to be a food and nutrition leader in any area of practice. The resources available include the Evidence

A Fluid Mosaic of Color
F. Scott Fitzgerald s masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, follows the story of Jay Gatsby, a man who
personifies the American Dream. The narrator of the novel is Gatsby s neighbor, Nick Carraway, who
is connected with all the main characters and has the ability to see the good in Gatsby. Through the
focus of Nick, a man with a fairly nondescript background, a story of corruption, illusion and
desperate desire unfolds. The story takes place in the roaring twenties, a time that emphasizes the
dichotomy of society, with the previously rich and the newly rich living a life of jubilance, while those

Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald manages to draw the attention of the reader to miniscule details and
symbols in the text. He uses colors to communicate to the reader feelings and attitudes of the
protagonists. Color symbolism, in many ways, plays a large role in the novel. It is the most powerful
method of granting the reader insight into the personality of a character; it reveals the hidden ideas and
values. The style of symbolism that is most riddled throughout the text is the attachment of ideas to
colors. Some of the color based symbols used are vague, while some are specific. The colors most
prominently represented are the hope and purity of white, the optimism of green, the wealth of gold
and the faux wealth of yellow. In The Great Gatsby, the color white stands for unblemished,
honorable, and pure perfection. When Nick is moving in, one of the first things he happens to notice is
how Across the courtesy the white palaces of fashionable East Egg glittered along the water...
(Fitzgerald 5). The East Egg is seen as old money; it is a lifestyle that is merely an aspiration at best.
Perfection shines from across the bay, in the area where the born rich live. It is the area that you
cannot work your way into, no matter how hard you try. Again, when Nick sees the Buchanans house
up close, he describes that even The windows were ajar and gleaming white. (Fitzgerald 13). Inside

What Is The Mood Of The Goblin Market
The Goblin Market to some people is a simple child s poem but when deeply analyzed it can be very
sexually oriented. The poem talks about two girls, Laura and Lizzie and their tale about the Goblin
Market where they confront the goblin men. Of Course this so called market isn t a real market but a
metaphor for something else. The poem encounters mature and sexually suggestive situations within
the so called Goblin Market. When Laura and Lizzie encounter the goblin men, and the fruit that they
sell, the tone of the poem still remains childish, but the words used mirror those of sexual behavior.
This is the type of language that the writer, Christina Rossetti creates highlighting the female sexuality
and desire in her poem. The delicious fruit that the goblin men were selling, and it s effect on Laura
are similar to that of the biblical story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the goblins get inside Laura s head, her desire grows and it eventually gets to the point where she
has to try the fruit of the goblin men. This shows her temptation and sexual desire as she goes down to
the goblin men and ends up trading her golden hair for the fruit. This shows that the goblin men have
taken her innocence as the hair represents something precious to her. She is not the same anymore, she
doesn t think like her sister anymore as she has now joined the sexual realm that the goblins represent.
She has stopped denying her sexuality and her desire as she did in the beginning when she hid from
the goblins. The consumption of the fruit is sensual and explicit, as Rossetti s text suggests a sexual
meaning She sucked and sucked and sucked the more; / Fruits which that unknown orchard bore; / She
sucked until her lips were sore; This shows the type of language that Rossetti hides under the childish
tone that is created when reading this outside the feminist

No Social Conventions for Jesus
Religion Essay
Jesus did not adhere to social conventions of the time when dealing with the marginalised. Jesus
challenged social conventions by showing love, forgiveness and compassion towards women,
Samaritans, and outcasted people. In Jesus time women we re at a lower stat to men, and there was a
large lack of equality in that time.
Jesus treatment of women was unorthodox. Jesus treated women with equality and respect. This was
unusual because during the time of Jesus women were considered to be second class citizens. They
were considered inferior to men, and forced to do all the housework and cooking. Men were seen as
the more dominant role, women often were seen as lazy, and dependant on men. In their own
household, they were seen dominant, but in the eyes of the outside world, they were seen as slaves. On
their period, they were seen unclean, during this time they generally stayed inside more often, they
avoided being in contact with the outside as they would be judged and frowned upon. Jesus treated
women with compassion and kindness. This is evident when he allowed the woman, who was
seemingly seen to be a prostitute, wash his feet in her tears. Even though he was frowned upon from
those around him, he still allowed her to continue this. It is secondly evident when Mary, the sister of
Martha, had invited Jesus over for a dinner. Mary, a woman, sat down and listened to Jesus preaching
s, instead of cooking and cleaning. This left the rest of the people listening

An Example Of Being Naked In Public From Modern Pop-Culture
Hi all, I m a dog, so I will talk about few examples of being naked in public from modern pop culture.
In the story The emperor s new clothes , the king walked out without any clothes at the end of the
story in front of the public because two rascals sell an invisible suit of clothes that only smart people
can see to the king. Since the king and all the helpers around do not want to admit they are not smart
enough to see the cloth, the king walked out naked with his servants walked behind him with their
hands raised to hold the imaginary mantle. I think this would be an example that a humorous character
(the king) gets his comeuppance (walking naked in front of the public) because of his hypocrisy.
Another one I can think of is the

The definition of patriotism is the quality of being patriotic; vigorous support for one s country.
Patriotism to me is supporting my country and praying for the men and women who risk their lives for

the men and women who jeopardize their lives for me? They are the ones that make sure I am safe and
make sure I do not have to worry about walking outside and being shot at. Nevertheless, I personally
believe we owe these heroins some extreme respect. Why do we have the right to kneel at a flag that

Perception And Perception Of Perception
The term friendship is defined as a mutual strand of affection between two or more people. It is a
stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. It is a link between people who show trust
and altruism with one another without the placement of sexual or physical intimacy that commonly
happens in a romantic relationship. Friends tend to share common interests, demographics,
backgrounds, and traits of the self. However, before we get to know a person, we use perception to
categorize them into a certain role. It often causes us to assume that the other party is superior or
inferior to us. We do this more often than not without even realizing we ve engaged in perception.
Perception played a very large part in the first meeting of my best friend, Cinda, and I. In Chapter 4:
Interpersonal Perception (Floyd, 2011), there are many examples of the ways in which people
instantly perceive another person as being one way or another. This exact thing happened when I met
Cinda. Our perceptions of one another were not complimentary or nice, in fact, we were practically
enemies at the time. Negativity bias, or the tendency to weigh negative information more heavily than
positive (Floyd, 2011), would describe what we felt with each other. We were unable to see anything
good or complimentary about the other. What exactly brought on these feelings? One might ask. Well,
embarrassingly enough, it all started with a boy; Cinda and I had never even spoke to each other.

Poverty And Its Effects On America
When most people think of poverty they think of somewhere overseas, however; poverty is a lot closer
to home than one might think. The winding, twisting roads of Eastern Kentucky have picturesque
scenery, but many of the people here are struggling in these hills. The people of Eastern Kentucky
have been dependent on the coal industry to feed their families and pay their bills, but this once
thriving industry has been on the decline in recent years. Without coal, Eastern Kentucky is facing a
grim future and many of its residents are struggling with the effects of losing one of their main
employment opportunities. Many people in this region face poverty every day and with the prospects
grim, poverty is an ongoing issue. According to Merriam Webster, poverty is defined as the state of
one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. If you drive
through many of the towns that dot the Appalachians, you will see abandoned buildings, dilapidated
homes with trash littering the front yard all just commonplace in this area. Poverty is evident wherever
you turn in these communities. Clay County is just one struggling area of the Appalachians. Here the
median income is $22,296, barely above the poverty line. 12.7 % of Clay County s residents are
unemployed, all scary statistics; since this is coal country (Lowrey, Annie).Without coal bringing in

Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper
Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more
complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in
turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing
shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors
and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking,
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on
the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and
collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that
are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014).
Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their
family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in
control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and
values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Creating a partnership with a patient that allows them to grasp
the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can
prevent errors from occurring. This gives the patient the opportunity to correct any

Suffragettes Movie Essay
An Analysis of the movie entitled, Suffragette
The year was 1912 in London, England. Women lived at the mercy of their fathers, brothers, husbands
and bosses; clearly a patriarchal society. Women s lives consisted of keeping house and raising
children and caring for their families. Those who worked outside of the home were limited to menial
labor, earned significantly less than men, and surrendered their earnings to their husbands. Any
inheritance of real estate or money a woman may have received was given to her husband and, most
often, she had nothing to say about how it was managed or spent. A woman could not vote or run for
office, and received little support, should she desire an education other than a finishing school.

Inspired by actual events, this film is a story of the suffragette as told through the experiences of the
fictional character of Maud Watts (played by Carey Mulligan). Reluctant at first, Maud commits
herself to the suffrage cause when her husband throws her out of the house, she loses her job, and her
only child is put up for adoption. While there are many poignant scenes in this film, one was when she
told her son to remember her name and pleaded with him to look for her when he was older.
The film shows the brutality experienced by Suffragettes as they were beaten and arrested and force
fed while incarcerated when they refused to eat.
Final memorable moment
Perhaps the most memorable scene in the film was after being trampled to death at the Epsom Derby,
the director employed actual footage of Emily s funeral procession which showed thousands of
suffragettes walking behind her casket while thousands more lining the streets. The death of Emily
Davidson; that one single event, was the pebble that rippled around the world, and finally sparked the

Socio Economic Factors And Good Health
The coherence between socio economic factors and good health has been observed over a few decades
and, that the socio economic factors have a massive impact on the health of the individual are not new.
Today, the Government UK provides a range of health campaigns, to alert the public to live healthier.
Health promotions in schools, children centre, and community centre or in the hospital taking place.
Such for example, the fit for life campaign, where the main focus is to eat healthy food. However,
there are still barriers which have an influence on the behaviour of the individual, to take part by
health promotions. Therefore, it is important to have a look what is the background of the individual,
to understand their behaviour.
1.1One impact of socio economic influences on the health, can be the cultural tradition. For example,
in some cultures is overweight, seeing as something positive as this shows the social status in their
society. Skinny people would be associated with poorness, therefore is feeding a common practice by
some cultures, regardless other health consequences. This behaviour is completely the opposite what
health campaigns associating with overweight in the UK. Here is to think about how can those people
getting persuade to change their attitude, as overweight is associated with their social status and
cultural tradition.

Summary Of A Very Lucky Daughter By Skrzynecki
How has your understanding of belong been shaped by your study of Skrzynecki s poem and the

Our sense of belonging is not only sculpted by our own experiences through what we encounter, but
also the experiences of others. By reading and analyzing the authentic experiences Peter Skrzynecki

My study of Migrant Hostels , Feliks Skrzynecki and A Very Lucky Daughter the two composers have

respective hearts of both first and second generation migrants, capturing the occurrences they

creates within the relationships of families and outsiders.

It should be noted, prior to the crisis, there was already an increasing concern of economists and
critics about the credit quality that was provided by the financial sector at the time when there was low
interest rates that were applied by the government. There were also issues about the inappropriateness
or ineffectiveness of the standards that were used in extending credit by the financial sector (Calvo,
171).
Another important factor that affected the financial sector and would eventually contribute to the
development of the Mexican Peso Crisis was that the risk premium of the Mexican economy was
significantly impacted by the armed conflicts that happened in Chiapas at that time. This armed
conflict led to a decline in investor confidence about business in Mexico, such that there was a decline
in the investment potential of the region (Mathur, 18).
In addition, in the decade leading to 1994, the government saw an increasing expenditure for various
projects in the country. The result was an increased reduction in the funds of the government. Another
more important factor was that the country experienced hyperinflation from 1985 through 1993. This
period was also characterized by significant increases in debt loads of the financial sector, as well as
the low oil prices that also contributed to the weakening of the Mexican economy (Mathur, 18). One
would argue that the Mexican

Aboriginal Rituals
Aboriginal
There are many different types of aboriginal rituals. There are rites of passage, rituals celebrating the
ancestral spirits, rituals for the maintenance of natural species, rituals of reconciliation and healing and
harming rituals. These are usually preformed and celebrated in special places, such as where spirit
beings preformed the acts during the dreamtime. Initiation ceremonies, dance, corroborees and other
intertribal gatherings often took place in bora rings. The Kombumerri Aboriginal Corporation of
Culture is currently in control of the Jebbribillum Bora (appendix 6.1). Rituals usually consist of a
series of songs and dances depicting the deeds of the spirit ancestors who are often thought of as in the
form of birds or animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opening chapter of the bible, known as the Genesis, begins with the words In the beginning God
created the havens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). The text tells us that the earth was formless, empty, and
dark. The Bible reveals that God made the world and all that is in it out of nothings. He spoke His
Word, and everything came into existence. According to Genesis 1, God created the earth in six days.
On the first day, God created the light. On the second day, He created the firmament called heaven. On
the third day, God created the dry land in the midst of the lower waters. On the fourth day, He created
the sun, the moon and the stars. One the fifth say, He created the fish and all the other living creatures
in the oceans and the lakes. On the sixth day, God created the land animals and man. He created man

Participative Leadership For Every Member
Introduction Participative leadership means to share authority with others to get tasks done in a better,
faster, and cooperative manner by involving everyone in the process. Here, there is a high value for
the contribution of every team member and participation is strongly encouraged in problem solving.
This type of leadership is a relatively new method in the work process, and it challenges the traditional
way of bossing others around. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of participative
leadership in the work process. It will argue how through participative leadership it is possible to
create en efficient work environment using strategies of psychological empowerment, the provision of
organizational perspectives, group reciprocity, and learning to accept change.
Psychological Empowerment For Every Member One of the most important creations of using the
participative leadership method is that it leads to the practice of empowering participants
psychologically. According to a study by Xu Huang (2012), participative leadership is an effective
way to provide team members with a strong sense of control and motivation. This in practice can
secure a high level of group motivation and interaction through effective efforts. Psychological
empowerment makes members feel they can influence and through encouraging participation leaders
can often retain personal talents, which can lead to the creation of new ideas. Behaviours that

Marquis de Lafayette Essay
Marquis de Lafayette The Marquis de Lafayette is best remembered for the part he played in the
American War of Independence. He contributed in helping the Americans gain free control over the
colonies by breaking away from British home rule. For sixty years he fought with consistency and
insight for political ideals and social reforms that have dominated the history of the nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries. Hence, Lafayette can be attributed to the spreading of liberty and freedom
throughout America and France. Therefore, he is viewed as a symbol of liberalism in a once absolutist
world. Born on September 6, 1757, Gilbert Montier de Lafayette lived in the Chateau de Chavaniac.

First, he wanted to distinguish himself as a soldier. Second, he detested England and the English. As
victors in the Seven Year s War, the English humiliated France and took away the French territory in
Canada. Being a very proud Frenchman, He wanted to see England get a beating; he wanted her to
lose her American colonies and he had come to help the Americans win, gain their independence, and
lower the pride of the insolent English nation (Woodward 4). Thus, he sailed in his new boat Victoire
onto the shore of South Carolina, along with fourteen other French army members, with plans in
becoming a volunteer officer for the American revolutionary army. The marquis pursued his ambitions
and left his home in secrecy even after his father in law, the Duc de Noailles, forbid him to leave
France. Lafayette s strong will and excitement to be in charge of an army was too much to hold back.
He left his young, pregnant wife with nothing but a letter saying good bye. Unfortunately, it would be
years before he would make his way back to his homeland again. Ten days after their arrival into
Charleston, Lafayette and the others made their way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the 27th of
July and Congress was still in session. At first, they were rejected and told to go back to France
because there were already plenty of French officers employed in the army. However, after much
consideration, congress

Analysis Of The Great Mother Archetype
After consciousness passes through the uroboric stage, the next archetypal symbol Neumann offers is
that of the Great Mother. Similar to the uroboros, the Great Mother typically enters the mythical realm
as the first sexed being within it. Still possessing the ability to create without a partner, this figure is
often linked to nature, fertility and the unconscious. At this stage, the ego has not fully established
independence from its unconscious source, which is apparent in the sexed son lovers, created by the
Great Mother to beget more creation unto her world (often at the sacrifice of the male counterpart).
Diotima s variation of the origin of Love (Eros) demonstrates an interesting embodiment of the Great
Mother Archetype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, the nature of Love is hermaphroditic, not in the sense that it hasn t escaped the uroboric
stage development with an undeveloped germ like ego floating in a vast sea of unconsciousness; but
rather that this god, this spirit, this being marks a true return of the fundamental unity the uroboros
represents. Through its conscious will Love seeks to attain the fullness ardently desired by its
unconscious, willfully ignorant that any beauty or wisdom it holds will slip away the second he grasps
for a second handful. I find this origin not only provocative but also profoundly moving. I also think it
has interesting implications for Neumann s interpretation of the role of the feminine and masculine
within the Uroboros (and the Great Mother as well). Neumann himself says that, Hunger and food are
the prime movers of mankind (27). Applying this declaration to Diotima s myth, the connection to
Poverty as the prime mover is more than apparent. It is precisely this emptiness, this lacking which
drives her to join with Resource and create Love, and in this sense, it is she, not the masculine element
who acts as the initial movement, the procreative thrust (Neumann 18). Essentially, Woman is always
first, not just in presence, but in action and desire.

Moving on to what was actually assigned, I decided to examine the myth of Adonis and Aphrodite.
Since Neumann specifically mentions the many Greek myths in which beautiful male youths die

Taming Of The Shrew Quotes
In the play, The Taming of the Shrew, Petruchio is a foolish nobleman who tames the character of
Kate because she is a shrew. A shrew is ill spoken woman who has a negative reputation in the
Elizabethan period. Petruchio tames Kate by abusing her physically and mentally, Petruchio starves
Kate and deprives her of any sleep, finally he humiliates her. Kate is forced under submission because
of Petruchio trying to ...cure her wild and willful nature... (Act 4, Scene 1, Pg. 10). Petruchio explains
that all his abusing is because he loves her and for her own good, when in fact he is trying to break her
down. The Taming of the Shrew is about the conflict between Kate and Bianca in which their father s

What Is The Point Of View In The Decline Of The West
From great to good to bad In this essay I will analyse and interpret the short story The Decline of the
West by Hanif Kureishi. Part of the analysis will focus on the story s point of view and on the title The
Decline of the West. This short story deals with the capitalistic society and it s affection on families.
The story is told by a limited third person narrator which is bound to the main character Mike. This
influences the story because; the reader is only able to see the thoughts and actions from Mike s point
of view. Sometimes Mike s actions and thoughts are relayed directly: he switched on the garden lights
and, looking out at the new deck where last summer they d held barbecues. And sometimes his actions
and thoughts are flashbacks: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Corn Vs Eating Corn
Eighty five percent of the corn produced in the United States is genetically modified. Scientists take
genes from one plant or animal and insert them into the DNA of another. Should the people that are
involved with our food system products terminate the usage of corn in our food? Corn is a seed
produced by an annual grass plant producing wheat, oats, barley, rye, and rice. One think GMO sweet

Essay on Public Service Announcements on Texting and Driving
Argumentative Essay Revision Shot to aim directly at people who tend to disregard warnings and are
most like to be distracted drivers, texting and driving PSA s bring awareness and self consciousness to
the general public as they display from moderate to severe graphic scenes on what happens when you
take your eyes off of the wheel. A distracted driving PSA ad is not only one of the best ways to alert
people of the consequences of unfocused driving, but it can also reduce the number of distracted
driving incidents, thus keeping families not only careful and alert, but alive and safe. In the last 5
years, the number of people who have watched safe driving PSA s has been increasing due to the

But these teens, however, were not the only ones to admit they were shaken by the content. According
to TODAY, advertising executive Donny Deutsch admitted: It s one thing to intellectually get it into
our brains, but when you see it this graphically ... I tell you, I couldn t get through this [ad]. The shock
these ads have left on people is solid proof PSA s are the absolute best way to keep people informed
and aware of the consequences of distracted driving. But of course, PSA s don t just shake people
awake. Back in 2009, the Field family their friends suffered a severe loss, the loss of Josh Field, a
bright young man who stole everyone s hearts. In a recent PSA interview video, we hear from Kathryn
Field, Josh s mother. Towards the end of the PSA video, she admits: If Josh had more knowledge
about the outcome of answering that cell phone, maybe he wouldn t have, maybe he would have just
left it . Clearly, PSA s do more than just shake us awake; they also have the power to save lives by
giving us the knowledge to stay safe. Think about it this way, if distracted driving PSA s were as
popular 6 7 years ago as they are today, bringing people the knowledge to make the right decision,
then maybe Josh, and many others would have remembered the dangers and would have ignored that
cell phone and focused on the road. Sadly Josh wasn t fully informed of the dangers of distracted
driving and so, he lost his life that day. Mrs.

College Is Worth
Is it Worth It? In every news article or advertisement about college you notice that the benefits of
college are a stable job, a very successful life and a whole lot of money. But are those the only
benefits of college? No, of course not. College is about the experience and what you gain from it
while you are still there. However, the price to attend college can be impractical.
First day of the semester, a student walks in pottery class and notices that he hates it. The clay is too
sticky and making pots is just not his thing. This is an example of self discovery, in which college
allows you to do. College gives you time to see what you are or are not interested in. As well as
searching and learning new things about who you are.

The Experience Economy On The Hospitality Industry
The Hospitality Industry is an industry that relies greatly on the Experience Economy. Today,
receiving the product is no longer satisfactory to customers, and they need more than just the product,
and that is where the Experience Economy comes into play. In this paper, the Experience Economy
will be discussed and described. The discussion includes facts such as the introduction of the
Experience Economy by Pine and Gilmore. In addition, an analysis on the impact that the Experience
Economy has had on the Hospitality Industry will addressed, incorporating key concepts such as
modern management, soft skills, and emotional experience.
Since the 1950 s, the world s economy has gone through several changes, from an agrarian economy
to an industrial economy, then to a service based economy and then to the experience economy. The
term Experience Economy was first introduced by Joseph Pine and James Gilmore in 1999. The
concept is that goods and services are no longer enough for consumers that businesses must create
memorable events and experiences that capture their audience and create experiences that transform
their brand s value proposition. (Frias, 2014) Despite being introduced in 1999, the concept of the
Experience Economy has already existed in some extablishments to gain a large and growing
customer base. The Hospitality Industry is an example of this. For example, on July 17th, 1955, the
pioneer of the Experience Economy, as Pine calls him, Walt Disney

The Story Makers
The Story Makers
Family members can be a person s greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives that
can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their
relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and
stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful memories
that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they do and can
be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek Pincher. The
Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill Sergeant in
the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children s behavior disorder) and has
a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking attention to the manners
of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone s mistakes. When the Sergeant
cooks dinner for the family, the meal is often dull and healthy. She adds no seasoning to her dishes
because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the dinner table, she stares down each
family member to make sure that they not only chew and swallow every single bite, instead of spitting
out the meal into their napkins like they desperately want to do; she also expects they will pretend to
enjoy the meal with smiles on their faces. Even

The Effects Of Sleep Deprivation On Adolescents And The...
Fairfax County School Start Time: Analysis of the Policy To this point, the emphasis of the paper has
been the social issue of sleep deprivation in adolescents and the relationship that school start times
have with the issue. The focus now shifts to the evaluation on school start times and the associated
policies in Fairfax County schools. Demographics of Fairfax County and its Schools Fairfax County is
one of the largest counties in Northern Virginia with a population of 1,111,620 in 2013 ( Fairfax
Demographics, 2013, p. 2). Additionally, the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) district is the 10th
largest school system in the United States. Table 1 provides salient data on the demographics of the
Fairfax County school system. Table 1 Fairfax County School Demographics Source: ( FCPS
Demographics, 2014, p. 1) The current policy for start time for FCPS high schools is 7:20 am. Given
the preceding data presented, a start time this early makes it extremely unlikely that adolescents will
be able to achieve a sufficient amount of sleep on school days. Fairfax County and the FCPS recently
released the results of a youth survey conducted for the 2013 2014 school year. The sleep results
shown in Figure 3 unmistakably show that the majority of students surveyed are receiving less than
the nine and one quarter hours of recommended sleep per night. Figure 3. Fairfax County Student

  • 2. Benefit Of Technology In Society Technology and Its Benefits Human Society Technology is a beautiful thing and very beneficial to carrying out our daily lives. The internet lets us develop application software where we can train our brains, entertain ourselves, and communicate with almost anybody from anywhere in the world. Technology has also advanced so much that we are creating robots to take over dangerous human jobs, and satellites to track the development of our solar system. Most people use some type of technology in their life everyday whether it be a cellphone, computer at work or even a watch to tell time. All of these aspects can surely have downsides, but they do not amount to the number of beneficial opportunities that each provide to our daily lives. Technology affects society tremendously and is definitely beneficial when looking at how it has advanced over the years to improve the daily lives of the human society. One of the most positive aspects of creating cellular technology is the fact that it helps build relationships whether it be a simple phone call or an application of some sort such as a social media platform. Cellular connection is detrimental in staying connected with the rest of society as it provides us with speedy access and convenience to update us on our peer s lives, also it helps us keep up news and what is going on in the media these days, and it helps people in job fields to maintain their affiliations with cross country and international business partners. • 4. Movie Pass Today the price of going to a movie is outrages, but people still love going and spending these ridiculous prices. Now there is the new product called Movie Pass. Movie pass allows the customer to pay $9.95 a month to see a movie a day. Rob Cain wrote an article titled My Long Delayed Review of MoviePass: 3 Stars Out of 5 about his positives and negatives about this product and whether or not he found this product to be effective. The main purpose of this article is to inform customer of this new service and whether this it is a good investment for the consumer. When a product first comes out it isn t going to be the best and perfect thing. Cain begins the article with his first issue, which was that the card did not come as fast as expected. Cain claimed, Last Wednesday, after waiting more than six weeks for the MoviePass membership card that I d been promised would arrive within five to seven days when I paid for it in August, this obviously is not a great first impression, but is understandable that the company might be struggling with all of the request, especially when it first came out. Cain still decided to go ahead and give the company a second chance, he said But the $9.95 monthly price is too good to resist, and it s enough of a bargain to make up for a lot of sins. This service also requires the customer to be within one hundred yards of the theater to allow you to purchase the movie. Cain did not like this part of the service at all, but it is understandable, because when you choose the movie on the app they load the money onto the customers cars and then they go and pay for the movie. So, if the company let you choose from anywhere people would most likely take advantage of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theme Of Fabliau In The Canterbury Tales A fabliau is aptly categorized as a scandalous tale meant to satirize the bourgeois through the depiction of bourgeois characters. This is the genre Chaucer writes The Miller s Tale, from his The Canterbury Tales, in so he can distinguish the social class levels of the people on the pilgrimage. Chaucer shows us the differences by paralleling then transforming certain aspects of this fabliau with the same elements of the chivalric romance of the Knight s Tale. Fabliaux are salacious tales driven by elements such as deception to acquire money or possessions, to get sexual gratification, or to get revenge on somebody for a past wrong. The fabliau hinges upon an elaborate trick, set up with huge care in the story, contains the climax of the tale, and ends abruptly as the story itself ends. It is actually unknown whether the initial purpose of such a tale was for the nobility to mock the non aristocrats with whom they competed for status, or whether the bourgeois told fabliaux as an act of self mockery, to show how much the middle class has risen. In the Miller s prologue, we can infer that the Host wants the chronology of the storytelling to follow the levels of class; thus the reason why he solicits the Monk to tell a story after the noble Knight. The Host wants the Monk repay the Knight a little for his tale, but the inebriated Miller volunteers to pay the Knight his wages. (86, 87) From the context, it appears that the Miller interprets the Host s request to repay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber is a short story about a man named Walter Mitty. Walter is an ordinary man living an ordinary life, however, Walter always seems to escape into one of his fantasies while trying to accomplish everyday task. This often leads to Walter being mocked and ridiculed by people around him. Furthermore, Walter s wife, Mrs. Mitty is dominant in their relationship. She establishes many rules which Walter must fulfill. This is evident when, Walter drives fifty five kilometers per hour, Mrs. Mitty demands Not so fast! You re driving too fast! ... Similarly, Walter divulges into his dream like state while almost crashing into a car. This causes the parking lot attendant to sheik Back it up! Look out for that Buick! Walter Mitty jammed on the brakes. Wrong lane, Mac, (3). Evidently, Walters s imagination causes him to lose consciousness of reality, thus, causing Walter to be absentminded. Furthermore, diction also helps illuminate Walter character. After entering the wrong lane, the parking lot attendant volunteers to park the car. As Walter hands him the key, the attendant vaulted into the car, backed it up with insolent skill (3). This shows Walters opinion towards the attendant. The choice of words vaulted and insolent indicates that Walter is jealous or insecure when he says They re so damn cocky (4). This shows diction helped prove Walter is also jealous or insure about himself. In addition, the narration of the story is narrated in third person, limited omniscient point of view. This gives effective insights of Walter Mitty s thoughts and actions, which helps to further analyze Walters s character. For instance, when Walter is unable to unwind the chains of the axles, Mrs. Mitty forces Walter to unwind the chains at a garage. This makes Walter feel uneasy, consequently, Walter decides to wear [his] right arm in a sling; they won t grin at [him] then. I ll have my right arm in a sling and ... Scott Fitzgerald s masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, follows the story of Jay Gatsby, a man who personifies the American Dream. The narrator of the novel is Gatsby s neighbor, Nick Carraway, who is connected with all the main characters and has the ability to see the good in Gatsby. Through the focus of Nick, a man with a fairly nondescript background, a story of corruption, illusion and desperate desire unfolds. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald manages to draw the attention of the reader to miniscule details and symbols in the text. He uses colors to communicate to the reader feelings and attitudes of the protagonists. Color symbolism, in many ways, plays a large role in the novel. It is the most powerful method of granting the reader insight into the personality of a character; it reveals the hidden ideas and values. The style of symbolism that is most riddled throughout the text is the attachment of ideas to colors. Some of the color based symbols used are vague, while some are specific. The colors most prominently represented are the hope and purity of white, the optimism of green, the wealth of gold and the faux wealth of yellow. In The Great Gatsby, the color white stands for unblemished, honorable, and pure perfection. When Nick is moving in, one of the first things he happens to notice is how Across the courtesy the white palaces of fashionable East Egg glittered along the water... (Fitzgerald 5). The East Egg is seen as old money; it is a lifestyle that is merely an aspiration at best. Perfection shines from across the bay, in the area where the born rich live. • 10. What Is The Mood Of The Goblin Market The Goblin Market to some people is a simple child s poem but when deeply analyzed it can be very sexually oriented. The poem talks about two girls, Laura and Lizzie and their tale about the Goblin Market where they confront the goblin men. Of Course this so called market isn t a real market but a metaphor for something else. The poem encounters mature and sexually suggestive situations within the so called Goblin Market. When Laura and Lizzie encounter the goblin men, and the fruit that they sell, the tone of the poem still remains childish, but the words used mirror those of sexual behavior. She is not the same anymore, she doesn t think like her sister anymore as she has now joined the sexual realm that the goblins represent. She has stopped denying her sexuality and her desire as she did in the beginning when she hid from the goblins. The consumption of the fruit is sensual and explicit, as Rossetti s text suggests a sexual meaning She sucked and sucked and sucked the more; / Fruits which that unknown orchard bore; / She sucked until her lips were sore; This shows the type of language that Rossetti hides under the childish tone that is created when reading this outside the feminist ... • 12. No Social Conventions for Jesus Religion Essay Jesus did not adhere to social conventions of the time when dealing with the marginalised. Jesus challenged social conventions by showing love, forgiveness and compassion towards women, Samaritans, and outcasted people. In Jesus time women we re at a lower stat to men, and there was a large lack of equality in that time. Jesus treatment of women was unorthodox. Jesus treated women with equality and respect. This was unusual because during the time of Jesus women were considered to be second class citizens. They were considered inferior to men, and forced to do all the housework and cooking. Men were seen as the more dominant role, women often were seen as lazy, and dependant on men. In their own household, they were seen dominant, but in the eyes of the outside world, they were seen as slaves. On their period, they were seen unclean, during this time they generally stayed inside more often, they avoided being in contact with the outside as they would be judged and frowned upon. Jesus treated women with compassion and kindness. This is evident when he allowed the woman, who was seemingly seen to be a prostitute, wash his feet in her tears. • 13. An Example Of Being Naked In Public From Modern Pop-Culture Hi all, I m a dog, so I will talk about few examples of being naked in public from modern pop culture. In the story The emperor s new clothes , the king walked out without any clothes at the end of the story in front of the public because two rascals sell an invisible suit of clothes that only smart people can see to the king. Since the king and all the helpers around do not want to admit they are not smart enough to see the cloth, the king walked out naked with his servants walked behind him with their hands raised to hold the imaginary mantle. I think this would be an example that a humorous character (the king) gets his comeuppance (walking naked in front of the public) because of his hypocrisy. Another one I can think of is the ... How can I not support the men and women who jeopardize their lives for me? They are the ones that make sure I am safe and make sure I do not have to worry about walking outside and being shot at. Nevertheless, I personally believe we owe these heroins some extreme respect. Why do we have the right to kneel at a flag that people have lost their lives protecting what it stands for? • 15. Perception And Perception Of Perception The term friendship is defined as a mutual strand of affection between two or more people. It is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. It is a link between people who show trust and altruism with one another without the placement of sexual or physical intimacy that commonly happens in a romantic relationship. Friends tend to share common interests, demographics, backgrounds, and traits of the self. However, before we get to know a person, we use perception to categorize them into a certain role. It often causes us to assume that the other party is superior or inferior to us. We do this more often than not without even realizing we ve engaged in perception. Perception played a very large part in the first meeting of my best friend, Cinda, and I. In Chapter 4: Interpersonal Perception (Floyd, 2011), there are many examples of the ways in which people instantly perceive another person as being one way or another. This exact thing happened when I met Cinda. Our perceptions of one another were not complimentary or nice, in fact, we were practically enemies at the time. Negativity bias, or the tendency to weigh negative information more heavily than positive (Floyd, 2011), would describe what we felt with each other. We were unable to see anything good or complimentary about the other. What exactly brought on these feelings? One might ask. Well, embarrassingly enough, it all started with a boy; Cinda and I had never even spoke to each other. Ironically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Poverty And Its Effects On America When most people think of poverty they think of somewhere overseas, however; poverty is a lot closer to home than one might think. The winding, twisting roads of Eastern Kentucky have picturesque scenery, but many of the people here are struggling in these hills. The people of Eastern Kentucky have been dependent on the coal industry to feed their families and pay their bills, but this once thriving industry has been on the decline in recent years. Without coal, Eastern Kentucky is facing a grim future and many of its residents are struggling with the effects of losing one of their main employment opportunities. Many people in this region face poverty every day and with the prospects grim, poverty is an ongoing issue. According to Merriam Webster, poverty is defined as the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. If you drive through many of the towns that dot the Appalachians, you will see abandoned buildings, dilapidated homes with trash littering the front yard all just commonplace in this area. Poverty is evident wherever you turn in these communities. Clay County is just one struggling area of the Appalachians. Here the median income is $22,296, barely above the poverty line. 12.7 % of Clay County s residents are unemployed, all scary statistics; since this is coal country (Lowrey, Annie).Without coal bringing in jobs like it used to, other counties in Eastern Kentucky have similar statistics that show a ... • 17. Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking, The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014). Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Creating a partnership with a patient that allows them to grasp the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can prevent errors from occurring. Women lived at the mercy of their fathers, brothers, husbands and bosses; clearly a patriarchal society. Women s lives consisted of keeping house and raising children and caring for their families. Those who worked outside of the home were limited to menial labor, earned significantly less than men, and surrendered their earnings to their husbands. Any inheritance of real estate or money a woman may have received was given to her husband and, most often, she had nothing to say about how it was managed or spent. There were also issues about the inappropriateness or ineffectiveness of the standards that were used in extending credit by the financial sector (Calvo, 171). Another important factor that affected the financial sector and would eventually contribute to the development of the Mexican Peso Crisis was that the risk premium of the Mexican economy was significantly impacted by the armed conflicts that happened in Chiapas at that time. This armed conflict led to a decline in investor confidence about business in Mexico, such that there was a decline in the investment potential of the region (Mathur, 18). In addition, in the decade leading to 1994, the government saw an increasing expenditure for various projects in the country. The result was an increased reduction in the funds of the government. Another more important factor was that the country experienced hyperinflation from 1985 through 1993. This period was also characterized by significant increases in debt loads of the financial sector, as well as the low oil prices that also contributed to the weakening of the Mexican economy (Mathur, 18). Here, there is a high value for the contribution of every team member and participation is strongly encouraged in problem solving. Thus, he sailed in his new boat Victoire onto the shore of South Carolina, along with fourteen other French army members, with plans in becoming a volunteer officer for the American revolutionary army. The marquis pursued his ambitions and left his home in secrecy even after his father in law, the Duc de Noailles, forbid him to leave France. Lafayette s strong will and excitement to be in charge of an army was too much to hold back. He left his young, pregnant wife with nothing but a letter saying good bye. Unfortunately, it would be years before he would make his way back to his homeland again. Ten days after their arrival into Charleston, Lafayette and the others made their way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the 27th of July and Congress was still in session. • 25. Analysis Of The Great Mother Archetype After consciousness passes through the uroboric stage, the next archetypal symbol Neumann offers is that of the Great Mother. Similar to the uroboros, the Great Mother typically enters the mythical realm as the first sexed being within it. Still possessing the ability to create without a partner, this figure is often linked to nature, fertility and the unconscious. At this stage, the ego has not fully established independence from its unconscious source, which is apparent in the sexed son lovers, created by the Great Mother to beget more creation unto her world (often at the sacrifice of the male counterpart). Diotima s variation of the origin of Love (Eros) demonstrates an interesting embodiment of the Great Mother Archetype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this way, the nature of Love is hermaphroditic, not in the sense that it hasn t escaped the uroboric stage development with an undeveloped germ like ego floating in a vast sea of unconsciousness; but rather that this god, this spirit, this being marks a true return of the fundamental unity the uroboros represents. Through its conscious will Love seeks to attain the fullness ardently desired by its unconscious, willfully ignorant that any beauty or wisdom it holds will slip away the second he grasps for a second handful. I find this origin not only provocative but also profoundly moving. I also think it has interesting implications for Neumann s interpretation of the role of the feminine and masculine within the Uroboros (and the Great Mother as well). Neumann himself says that, Hunger and food are the prime movers of mankind (27). Applying this declaration to Diotima s myth, the connection to Poverty as the prime mover is more than apparent. It is precisely this emptiness, this lacking which drives her to join with Resource and create Love, and in this sense, it is she, not the masculine element who acts as the initial movement, the procreative thrust (Neumann 18). Essentially, Woman is always first, not just in presence, but in action and desire. * * * Moving on to what was actually assigned, I decided to examine the myth of Adonis and Aphrodite.
