to get “All services on all screens”.
The next “big” mobile services screen is in the vehicle.
Consumers expect Smart Phone like mobile services experience in their car.
In parallel to that trend, car manufactureres want to learn more about their products and how they are used and embrace the connectivity with Big Data and Analytics

Hacking your Connected Car: What you need to know NOWKapil Kanugo
Cars these days are 90% controlled by electronics and 10% using mechanics. The average new car already contains around 20 individual processors to monitor and control various functions — everything from the transmission’s shift points to the operation of the defroster — with about 60 megabytes of software code.
Many new cars are as “wired” as a home office — with onboard GPS navigation and wireless communications networks including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Internet run on Embedded OS's which run on converged Electronics to control these actions.
What if modern car’s onboard electronics be “hacked” or infected by a computer virus introduced through a wireless device that might corrupt or disable or controlled by a Hacker sitting at home?
The software does come with built in security but this is not enough and there is a need to offer a full Security package along with Car to guarantee Car's security. Life of people is more important than a gadget and people will pay and buy this package with a new car or upgrade to ensure that their car is not hacked by Hackers to malfunction or be used for other pervert interests.

The pace of LTE network deployment is accelerating all over the world, which enables more and more advanced services and Internet applications making use of the inherent benefits of LTE such as higher data rate, lower latency and enhanced coverage, etc. Widely deployed LTE based infrastructure provides the opportunity for the vehicle industry to realize the concept of ‘connected car’. By providing a vehicle access into the LTE network infrastructure, a vehicle can be connected to the Internet and other vehicles so that a broad range of existing or new services can be envisaged for the vehicle industry and the mobile industry as well.
Importantly, Proximity Service (ProSe) introduced in Release 12 will also provide functionalities to implement V2X services. Furthermore, LTE-based broadcast services such as PWS and eMBMS could provide additional functionalities for V2X services. It can be considered that some services will rely on wide-area network access which may be provided by GSM, UMTS, or by LTE.
This study proposes to document V2X use cases and assess the applicability of LTE technology to meet the operator, end-user and automotive industry expectations.
Here’s a technology overview of the V2X, GPS/GPSS. This slide-deck covers the limitations GPS/GPSS has and some of the unique challenges you may encounter with the V2X. After that, we will conclude with some V2X design options, considerations, and vulnerabilities.

In an IoT foundation, the IoT gateway is an important part. In the event that there is countless IoT devices sending information to the cloud, it is liked to incorporate IoT gateway devices to smooth out this network.
IoT gateways are pivotal parts of an IoT arrangement, as they empower availability between the IoT sensor network and the cloud. Since they are situated between the outer web and the nearby intranet, they structure a vital intersection of network.
This bunch of IoT gateway devices gets information from the IoT sensor hubs. If a particular entryway gadget goes down, it moves applications and gadget associations with the adjoining door which upholds the network and information move from that point.

In-Vehicle Infotainment System
Smart phones loaded with apps, since inception, have changed the way we consume information & stay connected with
each other.
This need to stay connected & consume information is felt by users even while driving their vehicles.
OEMs’ and Tier-I suppliers responded to this need with ’In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI)’ system. However, soon it has come to
their realization that now the rules of Consumer Electronics/Smart-phone experience also apply to the In-Car experience.
A user demands an intuitive HMI/GUI, a responsive touch-screen,
over the air updates and seamless integration of apps (installed on
his/her phone) in an IVI system. In addition to this, minimizing driver
distraction & ensuring maximum driver safety is a top priority for an
OEM or a Supplier.
All this makes designing a winning IVI system an interesting challenge!
3. Embitel Technologies International presence:
12 Design Strategies to Develop an IVI System
• In an IVI system it is essential to provide surround view to the driver for driving & parking assist, hence support for
multiple (upto 4) cameras is a must. Design middleware and application that support switching between multiple
cameras and streaming of data from multiple cameras.
• For a super-responsive and an intuitive IVI experience, best practice is to develop a Framework (a library project) which is
loaded with all the common functions (API) that can be called by different IVI applications. This makes the entire IVI
system very light & highly responsive.
• To suit the vehicle environment & in-car user experience, customize the look and feel of the screens to display most
important information to the user such as weather, date & time, traffic alerts, and other alerts from the vehicle at all
times. Add voice recognition feature and easy way to activate this feature to minimize driver distraction.
• Customize the Boot Animation & Boot Images as per the logo & branding requirements of the OEM and/or Supplier.
• Depending on the geography of your target Audience, identify the Third Party Apps or deploy apps developed in-house
that enhance user experience. For example apps for navigation, finding nearest fuel station, finding nearest service
station, emergency contact service, weather, internet streaming of multimedia and more
4. Embitel Technologies International presence:
12 Design Strategies to Develop an IVI System
• For an intuitive user experience, integrate various sources for multimedia streaming like mass storage devices (USB,
CD.), radio sources (AM, FM, WB, XM or DAB), streaming through BT or WiFi, internet streaming and connectivity to
Apple devices in a single application.
• An Infotainment system also serves users with critical vehicle data. Develop middleware and applications that provide
access to vehicle information available on CAN network to the user in the form of graphical interface as well as text
based warnings/alerts.
• An IVI system also plays a significant role in mitigating driver distraction. With the help of Bluetooth communication
driver can respond to or make a call, read message, stream music and more. All necessary Bluetooth profiles along with
application must be integrated in IVI system.
• To deliver a connected life-style experience the user (and the vehicle/fleet) should be connected to the external world
(internet). Include support for connectivity through tethering, Wi-Fi and telematics in the IVI system.
• GPS plays an important role in navigation. Include middleware and applications necessary for navigation and other
location based services.
5. Embitel Technologies International presence:
• Develop and build intelligence in the system to act according to different states of the vehicle such as moving, at rest
and parking mode.
• Develop and build strategies to help OEMs’ and/or Suppliers with certification and secure installation of the applications
in IVI system. This enables individual user or fleet owner(s) to deploy applications of their interests in a safe and secured
manner.

Throwback 2015 – the Successes of Our Automotive Infotainment project
When the MD of your organization mentions your Automotive Infotainment
project as one of the highlights of 2015, it becomes a matter of pride for the team.
“This kind of acknowledgement for your work is definitely a great source of
inspiration and motivation for our entire team,” says Suhas Tanawade, Project
Manager – Automotive Infotainment (for a US based Tier-I Supplier).
“We are very proud of our entire Embedded Software team, who made it possible
to ship out this one-of-a-kind infotainment software for a unique product. And
without doubt, we are one of very few India-based services companies to achieve
this,” says JSC Vidyasagar, Program Manager – Infotainment.
Amidst all the excitement surrounding successful execution of the infotainment solution, the team took some time out to
talk to us about the milestones achieved in 2015.
7. Embitel Technologies International presence:
Here are some of the key features designed & delivered by the team in the last year:
• Automatic activation of optional safety cameras when the vehicle is put into reverse or turn signals are on. This was
made possible because of 4-camera support designed by the team—an upgrade from the default 2 cameras support
provided by Android.
• Commercial vehicle-specific navigation system to provide turn-by-turn instructions.
