Storage devices are used to store data and information in a computer. There are two main types: primary and secondary storage. Primary storage includes RAM, ROM, and cache, which can be directly accessed by the CPU. RAM is used as the computer's main memory and comes in DRAM and SRAM varieties. ROM is used to store basic startup instructions and cannot be modified. Cache provides faster access to frequently used data. Secondary storage includes hard disks, which are not directly accessible by the CPU and require transferring data through primary storage. Hard disks are computers' main storage and come in internal and external varieties.

These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.

As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Small program called firmware are often stored in ROM

ROM memory cannot be easily or quickly overwritten or
modified.

Cache is a high-speed access area that
can be either a reserved section of
main memory or a storage device.
Most computers today come with L3
cache or L2 cache, while older
computers included only L1 cache.
10. Secondary Storage
It is not directly accessible by the CPU.
Computer usually uses its input/output
channels to access secondary storage
and transfers the desired data using
intermediate area in primary storage.
