James Bond, Die Another Day and Johnny English Essay
James Bond, Die Another Day and Johnny English
James Bond s, Die Another Day is a spy film filled with action. James Bond is the main character in
the film who has a mission to discover the connection between a North Korean terrorist and an
adventurous diamond broker. His character seems very clever and crafty. He is always the hero that
successfully completes each mission. He has the gadgets, the fast car, women and of course a famous
catchphrase which is what makes up James Bond s role. James Bond first originated in novels written
by Ian Fleming. He wrote many novels and in 1962 the first James Bond film was created, based on
the books. Die Another Day was released as film in 2002. Johnny ... Show more content on

Of course, there was the use of two cars, guns and many gadgets to make the scene. They made the
scene seem more effective by using dramatic music and the sound effects of the guns and cars. Special
effects were used to make blood look real and grenade explosions. Many effects were also made by
Computer Generated Images on the cars invincibility and the large beam on the ice.
The Johnny English car chase was also set in the daylight but in the streets of London. Again, they use
many different camera shots; these are Long shot, Focus and Medium shots. In this scene Johnny
English and Bough are on a car chase to capture the villains that have stolen the crown jewels. They
make this scene more effective by using sounds for the guns and make it more intense by using action
like music. Not only are the sounds effective but they used special effects. When Johnny English fired
a missile into the speed camera they had to use special effects to make it look real. They also had to
use a stunt man to climb out of the truck with Bough and into the sports car that it was towing. The
iconography is very similar to James Bond, for example, the sports car, gadgets and the smart clothes.
The only thing that makes this scene different is the humour used. As Johnny English s character is
supposed to mess up, he does things wrong that can seem humorous towards the audience. An

WGU JET2 Financial Analysis
Task 2
Introduction
In this task, the budget schedule and proformas as well as the flexible budget were reviewed. Below
you will find my analysis and recommended corrective actions as well as how management by
exception applies.
Budget Planning Concerns
Competition Bikes has a good starting point for a budget but is overall weak and has several budgetary
concerns. A few of those items are mentioned for budget planning below.
Advertising Research Development. Competition Bikes is expecting an increase in sales in year 9 yet
they are not investing in any more in advertising or research and development. In year 7 when sales ...

Variable Costs. Overall the company had favorable variances in variable costs, excluding the
efficiency variance. As expected, since Competition Bikes sold less than predicted, their related costs:
direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead and variable expenses were less than budgeted
amounts showing a favorable variance. The labor and overhead revenue and spending variances
however, showed unfavorable due to actual output despite the changes to the flexible budget. With the
prediction of decreases costs based on sales, these costs should have also decreased. There is no
further information on why these rates were high, Competition Bikes will need to look into those
expenses.
Advertising and transportation forecasted costs should have also decreased but instead, increased.
Although an increase in advertising was recommended, the additional costs were not accounted for in
the flexible budget. Transportation out is covered by a per unit contract so the decrease in sales should
have reflected a decrease in transportation out costs. Both of these costs should have decreased with
the decrease in sales like direct materials did. These negative variances indicate the company cannot
control costs. This could be caused by a number things: fraud, miscommunication, poor forecasting,
unexpected economic changes, etc. Competition Bikes needs

Whistling Tree Frog Research Paper
There is a deadly fungus called Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, Bd for short, that has been wiping
out populations of frogs all across the world. Bd has caused dozens of extensions over the past four
decades and leaving behind very few survivors. Also in the 1980s the frogs faced a similar problem
with this chyrid fungus that wiped out four frog species. However, there are two frogs, the whistling
tree frogs and the alpine tree frog, that are doing better than scientists predicted.
The whistling tree frog does not have as many infected or dead frogs as scientists expected.
Researchers theorized that the frog has evolved slightly or those who were infected as juveniles
survived and became immune. Their habitat is also play a role in their

The Red House Research Paper
Victorian architectural styles are used in modern residential construction of today. The alluring
attraction of the Victorian house has made the Victorian era a traditional symbol of elegance and class.
Architects like Philip Webb embraced the essence of the Victorian architectural style. Known as the
father of the Arts Crafts Movement, along with his friend and designer William Morris. Philip Webb is
most famous for his comfortable, unpretentious country homes, and urban terraced houses. Philip
Webb also designed furniture, wallpaper, tapestries, and stained glass.

The Arts and Crafts Movement started in England during the 19th century evironmental effects from

The Red House is one of the first designs of architecture in the Arts and Crafts Movement. In the
summer of 1858, William Morris decided that he would have his dear friend Philip Webb design him a
house on an orchard in the hamlet of Upton at Bexleyheath. Morris was an architect himself.
However, his lack of experience and success led him to hire Webb as the lead architect on the project,
with Morris as the driving inspiration. The location was an ideal site for Morris new home because it
was far enough from the nearest metropolis, London. However, the adjacent railway made the home

How Did Turkey Geopolitics Influence Its Foreign Policy...
2.2 How did Turkey s geopolitics influence its foreign policy and foreign relation? The direction of
Turkey s foreign policy has shaped by many factors and geopolitics defiantly played an important part
in it. Turkey s foreign policies during the cold war are the product of westernization and the
democratic reforms of the 1930s. Thus, the Cold War s atmosphere had forced Turkey to make a
choice between the East and the West (CITATION). Since the reform Turkey s foreign policy was
mostly western oriented therefore Turkey decide to side by the west and became a member of North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1952. However, NATO s reaction over the Cuban Missile
Crisis and the Cyprus conflict, made Turkey questioned the accountability of its American allies far
across the ocean. Therefore, Turkey stated to improve foreign relations and build economic and
political ties with the Eastern bloc and neighboring Islamic countries. This was not an axis shift in
Turkish foreign policy, but a multidimensional policy with a more proactive, practical and cooperative
approach(citation). Turkey has benefited significantly from trade and integration with the European

Claudius was the third emperor of the Julio Claudian Dynasty. He was born on 1 August 10 BC at
Lagdunnum in Gaul. He was the son of Drusus Cladius Nero and Augustus s wife Livia. But, he was
then adopted by his uncle Tiberius. Claudius was born with defects that led him to limping, drooling,
stuttering, and always being ill. His family members kept him out of the public so, there was no
embarrassment. His whole childhood and teenage years was spent indoors, hidden away from
everyone. He spent every day reading, which led him to learning liberal arts and history which helped
him when he had more power. He held power in the Julio Claudian Dynasty from 41 54 A.D. He got
to hold power since he was real young because, his father passed away when he was one years old.
His brother was succumbed under some suspicious events. So, since he was the only guy left in his

together and organized. Mostly, everyone liked him even though he might have not been liked by his
enemies. He may not have expected to become early at such a young age because, of the passing away
of his father and brother. I think he was a good ruler because, he took care of everyone so well and

In conclusion, Claudius was a very good emperor since a very young age. He helped a lot of people

Psychological Treatments That May Cause Harm Summary
The research paper, Psychological Treatments That May Cause Harm written by Scott O. Lilienfeld
examines treatments that either probably produce harm in some individuals or possibly produce harm
in some individuals. Harm can caused in various ways, including worse or more symptoms occurring,
excessive dependence on therapist, avoiding all therapies, and physical issues. The author notes that as
mental health professionals, it is critical for patients wellbeing that the field actively challenges the
idea that doing something is always better than doing nothing in therapy, because research has shown
that this is not true. As there is no governing agency currently in place in the United States to decide
what treatments can and cannot be administered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found this to link well with the article, specifically when the article discusses client variables and
ways that individual differences can change the effectiveness or harm that a specific treatment brings
about. As different countries look at which treatments are helpful or harmful for patients in that area, it
would be interesting to see the differences that individuals have, and whether that causes a treatment
to be helpful in the treatment of a certain disorder in one country, while actually causing harm to
people with the same disorder in other parts of the world. It is crucial for psychologists to remember
that cultural differences can have large and sprawling effects, and that this can change how patients
will react to a given treatment. It is encouraging that many countries have already adopted guidelines
to determine which treatments can and cannot be administered, and it is also reassuring that each
country looks at the treatments separately. This is helping to ensure that clients in all areas of the
world have the best care possible, while taking into account individual and cultural

To Kill A Mockingbird Good Vs Evil Essay
To Kill a Mockingbird
The conflict between good and evil is very common, even in day to day life. It is impossible for pure
good and pure evil to coexist, and this is apparent in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In this
book, we see a racist town of Maycomb in the mid 1900 s react to injustice through the eyes of Scout
Finch, a young girl with brother Jem and caring father, Atticus. While young, we see the children of
Atticus Finch grow and mature through his teachings and good morals, as well as see them experience
and witness the good and evil in their townsfolk. Through characterization and figurative language,
the author develops a theme of good vs. evil. Lee uses characters Boo Radley Bob Ewell to convey the
idea that the conflicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Characters like Bob Ewell make this possible. Bob Ewell represents the pure evil in the town, and is
presented in such a way that makes it quite obvious. Mr. Ewell is the character that kills mockingbirds,
or destroys people s innocence. Atticus describes him early in the book, saying: ..and it s certainly bad,
but when a man spends his relief checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from
hunger pains. (41). Not only is Bob Ewell a drunk, selfish and abusive father, but he is also inherently
evil in the way he destroys his children s innocence by being neglectful, but also Tom Robinson s
innocence. His racist way of accusing Tom of rape sends him to a death sentence, when Tom in a
desperate last effort to be freed gets shot. Atticus describes Tom s attempted escape as: I guess Tom
was tired of white men s chances and preferred to take his own. (315). Tom, as readers briefly got to
know, was not the type of man to desperately escape. He was hopeless and could see no other options,
as white men s chances was a sure death sentence. In this case, Bob had literally killed an innocent
man for no other reason than his own selfish, evil desires. Once again, we see that pure good and pure
evil cannot coexist, and results in the loss of

Missions
In the 18th century, what is now California was populated mostly by Native Americans. Late in the
century, Franciscan missions sponsored by Spain and the Roman Catholic church played an important
role in establishing European settlement in the region. The Spaniards, who had already colonized parts
of Mexico to the south, wanted to protect those colonies and extend their influence northward. The
Roman Catholic church wanted to convert Native Americans to Christianity. The mission system
supported both goals. The first Franciscan mission in California (Mission San Diego de Alcalá) was
established by Father Junípero Serra in what in now San Diego. Fifty four years later in 1823, the
Franciscans founded their last of 21 missions at San Francisco Solano. Each mission had an armed
presidio to protect it. Each sought to teach the Native Americans both Christianity and European
farming methods. Many of the mission churches remain today as living examples of

The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of Calaveras
In the 1867 story by Mark Twain titled The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras , Twain depicts the
powerful lesson of situational irony. Twain does so by focusing on the lesson that relying on good luck
can have negative consequences and can lead to ones dismay. Mark twain, a regional writer, writes
about a folk lore that takes place in Calaveras and addresses good luck and negative consequences

Biblical Theme Of The Old Testament V. New Testament
Thematic Biblical Theme
An Analysis of Son of Man perceptions in the Old Testament v. New Testament
Alejandro Londono
(Professor)
(University)
6 Nov 2014
The term Son of Man is translated differently by the prophets, apostles, and people of the Old
Testament when compared to how the term is viewed in the New Testament. In analyzing how the
terms are perceived during these times, it becomes possible to trace the theme of the Son of Man, and
how it was viewed in the Old Testament, to how the Son of Man has been viewed in the New
Testament. In observing these differences, one can clearly see the term had similar meanings, but was
represented in a different fashion, depending on the peoples and circumstances of the time period. In
analyzing these occasions in which the term Son of Man is used throughout the two testaments, it will
become clear as to their intended, and actual interpretations.
In the Old Testament, it is Ezekiel who is the protagonist, in a sense. This becomes apparent, because
Ezekiel plays such a vital role to the message behind the books of the Old Testament. Ezekiel was a
man as God had intended, and can also be viewed as the coming savior in the Old Testament (Morris
Henry, Ph.D., 1 3). The importance of Ezekiel is soon observed, and as noticed in chapter 2, verse 1 of
the book Ezekiel of the Old Testament, God commands Ezekiel to stand, so that he may be
commissioned as a prophet for the peoples of Israel (UcoG,

With that being said, it exerts pressure to the company as customers will hold a certain degree of
bargaining leverage as they can easily switch to other competitors so as to be able to gain more profits
for themselves. As a result, Nike will have to lower their product price in order to retain and attract
more customers. Hence, the high buyer power poses as a threat for the company.
3.3 Competitive Rivalry
Intense competition from established and new sportswear manufacturers and accelerated changes in
technology and consumer preferences in the industry for sportwear can potentially threaten Nike s
share growth. Nike competes with a significant number of companies, including Adidas, Under
Armour, V.F. Corp., Puma, among others. Vertical retailers that design and manufacture their own
products such as Lululemon Athletica and Uniqlo also plays a part in the competition for Nike.
However, Nike is currently ranked first as the world s most valuable sports brand and its largest
competitor, is Adidas. Nike currently has a Market Cap of $65.87 billion while Adidas has only $22.76
billion (Forbes, 2014). Although Adidas is presently losing out to Nike in terms of sales and market
share, it intents to implement new strategies so as to grow (Forbes,

Robotic Male Crabs
Many animals exhibit unique mating patterns and over time have evolved species specific traits to
grab the attention of potential mates. Sexual Selection allows for individuals who possess certain
qualities to produce more offspring than others, resulting in the evolution by means of natural
selection of that trait and the diminishing of the traits of the weaker individuals. This allows for
greater fitness of an individual which will in turn benefit the species as a whole. Male Fiddle crabs
possess one large claw, which has been observed to be used as a weapon and as a signal of courtship
(Callander et al. 2013). In their study, Callander and her team used a robotic male crab claw to

2013). The second experiment on the other hand did show a female preference to the alternative
stimulus waving at a faster rate than the control (Callander et al. 2013). The experimenters in this
study found no evidence that female fiddler crabs mate choice is effected by the shape of the male s
claw alone (Callander et al. 2013). This experiment did however show evidence that females prefer a
mate with a faster courting wave rate, choosing the alternative, faster waving stimulus, over the
control, U. mjoebergi claw, in almost every trial (Callander et al. 2013). The results this experiment
suggest that claw shape in male fiddle crabs has not evolved due to sexual selection (Callander et al.
2013). Male fiddle crabs do use their claw for male male combat so it is plausible that claw shape is
the outcome of evolution under selection in being the dominant male (Callander et al.

System Of Education Vs American Education
Lifestyles differ throughout generations. It is because of several factors related to people s behaviors,
historical events, social environment, and scientific and technical progress. My upbringing and
schooling experience has some new features different from what had my grandparents in their youth.
Therefore, the American System of Education today and before still focuses on the religious education
and socialization of students through multiple activities. First, my life is similar to the elder s life in
terms of the religious influence throughout the years of education. Municipal authorities built public
schools with the extension to the church, and students went to the church every day. My grandparents
prayed every day before the start of the classes. It is the same experience as I had at school. Moreover,
I entered the Catholic University of America. American education encourages new generations to
share the same Christian values of obedience, discipline, and patience. It has become another

First, American education is the framework for getting knowledge. It is a system of studies for the
public. Then, the question is: Why should new generations refer to the lifestyles and schooling
experiences of elder generations? This question is rhetorical. However, I think each generation adds to
the improvement of the American System of Education making it more appropriate and multifaceted
in methods and approaches. Therefore, one has to understand the American education in combination
with practical advantages and disadvantages. Another question refers to my upbringing and schooling
background and whether it is the same for other students. Not everyone has a motivation to study
thoroughly and to obey parents. It refers to the social and economic factors splitting the society into

Basque Society, Language and Culture
There are many groups of people throughout the world, who have either managed to keep their system
of values and traditions relevant or have been forced to conform to the modern ways of the region they

Mountains around the Bay of Biscay in northern Spain and southern France for thousands of years.
Indigenous people are originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native. By analyzing and
interpreting their language, communication, religion, transition to modernity, differences between

Judging Abercombie Fitch for Their Hiring Practices Essay
Looks and first impressions are key points for many things in our lifes. Now a days people are deep

compete even more day by day and do everything in their power to attract more people. To bring more
people to the bussiness and sell as much as they can they have been using a method of prioritizing and
aiming to certain group of poeple to sell to. This has lead companies such as Abercombie Fitch to be

same thing. I mean, I live in Los Angeles where montly the population is mexican. Some mexicans
like dressing up with boots and big belts, they have a certain look which now people call Paisa Look .
When I go to the mall there are many paisa stores where the people who work there obviously look
mexican and dress up with the look they sell. When I say mexican looking, I mean dark skined,
mustache, the boots, the belts, the Ed Hardy things, the hats and of course their music. This exact
same thing happens in Abercombie Fitch. The only difference is that caucasians are not the minority in
this country. I find very hypocritical the fact that people judge Abercombie, Hollister, Express and
other stores in that range for who they hire. This is a duble standard and very unfair way of looking at
things. In the article Going for the look, but risking discrimination by Steven Greenhouse; Tom Lenox,

Compare A Christmas Memory And The Gettysburg Address
The Great Depression was set off by the stock market crash of October 29, 1929. During the next ten
years, one in four people were unemployed, and begging for food, shelter, and other necessities was
widespread. A Christmas Memory, by Truman Capote, takes place during the height of that period.
Buddy and his friend, a mentally disabled older cousin of his, have to learn how to survive and be
joyful during that period. The story takes place during the holiday season, where Buddy and his friend
have to scrape together enough to have a good holiday. One lesson the story suggests is that when
people persevere, they may be able to find bliss even in the worst and most trying times. Similarly,
The Gettysburg Address also expresses the same theme of perseverance through the fiery words of
Abraham Lincoln.
The theme of perseverance is shown from the beginning of both A Christmas Memory and The
Gettysburg Address . In A Christmas Memory, Buddy and his friend scramble to make fruitcakes for
their friends, even though there is no money for them to use, and alcohol, a key ingredient, is
prohibited. An example of their perseverance is when they go to Haha Jones, an illegal alcohol dealer,
to buy the final ingredient, whiskey. This shows perseverance because they needed to make fruitcakes,
so they went to extreme lengths to be able to produce them. In The Gettysburg Address, Lincoln
states, Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so

A Comparison Of John F. Kennedy And Donald Trump
I m going to make America great again. This is the plan that President Trump had come up with to get
him elected, and could possibly help America big time. Ask not what your country can do for you ask

on his own, with minimal or no interaction with others. Mahir demonstrate he has the verbal language
skills when he is pretend play with toy cars, and he shows receptive language skills when interact with
educators. However, Mahir s use of language in interaction is limited, he requires improvement in
language skill in order to develop better quality friendship (Porter, 2016). Mahir display solitary play
throughout the day, he was fully engaged in the activity by himself. When other children talks to
Mahir or initiate to play with him, Mahir does not seem to notice other children, and maintains focus
on what is he doing. According to Porter (2016), at age 2 3 years, children begin to seek out peers in
earnest and they are more able to initiate interactions (p. 157). Those evidence of social play
development was absent in Mahir s case, as he display the preference to play alone. Being socially
isolated over time can have negative impact on children. For example, depression or reactive
aggression (Porter, 2016). Conversely, positive relationship are beneficial to children s developments
(Porter, 2016). Therefore, it is important to support Mahir s social development.

Gameplay Video Game Platforms For The Future
Formatting Video Game Platforms for the Future
Video games have hugely impacted world culture since the late 1970 s. Video game companies like
Atari and Midway helped lead this digital revolution by introducing arcade games such as Pong, Pac
Man, and Asteroids. Though Atari and Midway receive the most recognition for beginning this
videogame revolution, none of this would have been possible if not for Japanese companies like
Namco and Taito, who created the software for such games. Because of companies like Namco and
Taito the advancements of video game technology have led us to have mobile and in home versions of
our favorite games. In March 1980, the video game industry had made an attempt to adapt to the
everyday lives of people. Atari created the first successful in home video game console called the
Atari 26001. This 8 bit game console had the ability to bring the fun of the arcade to the comfort of
home. The Atari 2600 used game cartridges as seen to the left. These cartridges were compact and
almost unbreakable. Each cartridge s outside had a scene from the game with a short description of
what the game was about. By the mid 80 s there was a great array of games for the Atari 2600 but
there was also competition. In 1985 Nintendo created its own 8 bit video game console called the
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The NES had games like The Mario Brothers and Donkey
King. NES had blown up in Singapore but in America it was another story. The NES was too

Domesticated Animals In Papa New Guinea
The people in Papa New Guinea still used stone tools in the 1960 s, when people in the United States
had already developed telephones and spaceships that sent people to the moon. Why were the people
in Papa New Guinea so behind? Inequality is very apparent in our world today, but do you ever
wonder why? Or how it started? For everyone to be equal they need to grow and develop at the same
pace and in order for that to happen they need the same good crops, and helpful animals so they can
have time and create specialists, they need the same immunities to certain diseases, they need
specialists to create new technology like steel, and all those things depended on where they were

Having domesticated animals is a huge advantage for a civilization. Geographic location affects what
animals are available in that location. If a civilization has animals that can be domesticated, they can
be used as a tool, and that can speed up the development of a civilization. To domesticate animals
civilizations need animals that are herbivores, large mammals with a quick growth rate, live in herds,
have a good social structure, breed well, and a nice disposition. There are 148 species of animals, but
only 14 have been domesticated because they don t meet the specifications. Eurasia had plenty of
domesticated animals, far more than Papa New Guinea. Domesticated animals provide transportation,
protein, and warmth from their hair. They can work and help with crops. When domesticated animals
do work, people don t need to. When people don t have to work, they can become specialists so the
civilization can develop and expand. Specialists are people that focus on other things than farming,
like becoming a doctor or an inventor. The more specialists a civilization has the more jobs created.
The more people that become specialists, the faster a civilization will develop. If a civilization has a
surplus of food and a handful of domesticated animals, they don t have to focus on finding food and
farm work, they could experiment with their recourses and develop new inventions. The people of
Papa New Guinea couldn t do that, so there became a bigger gap between them and Eurasia, it created

Though the automatic system is implemented by states, federal actions play an important role in
dissolving the institutional barriers. To be more precise, Congress will have to establish a national
standard, which could ensure that all eligible voters will be registered no matter where they live and
no mater where they will move to. Further, given that states have the final say in whether or not they
put the automatic registration system into effect, Congress would have to provide federal funds as
incentives to encourage states to adopt the automatic registration system. The following will exhibit

This system could facilitate voters by sending them emails to inform voters of incoming elections,
thereby reducing possibilities of missing any elections as well as voters. Further, by shifting the
burden of registering from voters to government, the automatic voter registration could simplify the

there will be less opportunity to see the mismatched information listed above. In general, the

Introduction
How do professional design companies work through a design process? The video you are about to
see chronicles the efforts of a world renowned design firm, as they apply their process to the redesign
of a common, everyday product.
One of the best documented examples of the design process in action took place in Palo Alto,
California, at an industrial design firm called IDEO. ABC News gave IDEO the challenge of
redesigning the old and familiar shopping cart in just five days. Nightline chronicled the experience
and aired the program on February 9, 1999.
This short documentary reinforces the idea that fantastic solutions can be produced under very
difficult constraints when the designers have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

process?
Extend Your Understanding (Optional)
Engineers need to know what problems they are addressing. They must have an idea about the degree
to which the solution should be carried out, along with what the solution should do to solve the
problem. The engineer must also work within constraints, such as time and budget. A design brief is a
tool that is used to concisely identify the problem, solution expectations, and project constraints. The
engineer will often return to the design brief throughout a design process to assess the progress and
validity of his or her creative work.
Imagine that you are part of that design team. The project leader has given you the responsibility of
creating a design brief that defines the problem, states the expectations that the solution must meet,
and identifies the project criteria and constraints. Your design brief will serve as a guide to the team as
they work through the design process.
From your observations of the video, record your information in the design brief on the following

Cycladic Figurine
People continually have made sculptures of others throughout history. Many sculptures are dedicated
to an important person for their accomplishments and respectable deeds, and many are representations
of various topics, such as the ideal man/woman. These sculptures are in an assortment of sizes that
range from being taller than a full grown adult to being as minuscule as the length of a tiny dog.
Numerous sculptors, through the past and up to now, have a fascination in making sculptures of
women. Two, in particular, the Cycladic Figurine and Head of a Woman. The Cycladic Figurine is a

Though several personality disorders are highly complex and a challenge to treat, there are effective
treatments available ( Treating Borderline 1). The various treatments are broken down by method, the
first of which being cognitive behavioral therapy, which attempts to alter the conscious thoughts and
behavioral patterns of patients (Daniel); ( Treating Borderline 2). Cognitive behavior therapy itself is
broken down into two therapies, dialectical behavioral therapy and schema focused therapy ( Treating
Borderline 2). Dialectical behavioral therapy, developed by Dr. Linehan, is centered on the basis that
personality disorders are formed when hypersensitive patients are in situations which lack the
emotional support they require, therefore leading to their inability to regulate emotions ( Treating
Borderline 2). Thus, the treatment serves to help the patient gain control over their emotion and
behavior ( Treating Borderline 2). The treatment itself consists of group and individual sessions and
typically lasts approximately one year ( Treating Borderline 2). During the group sessions, patients
learn to become more aware of their behaviors and emotions through sessions pertaining to problem
solving, mindfulness meditation, and breath training ( Treating Borderline 2). In personal sessions,
referred to as psychotherapy, the psychiatrist explains to the patient how the lessons from the group
therapy sessions are applicable

Prohibition arose from the Temperance Movement during the early twentieth century as tensions arose
between modernists and traditionalists. The Temperance Movement was one of the many movements
of the Progressive Era, in which the traditionalists, often the older, more traditional, people living in
rural America, battled the young, secular, and scientific modern era that was gaining momentum
throughout urban America. The traditionalists supported Temperance because they believed that
alcohol was the root of the evils of the modern world, and that without alcohol, people would leave

This is mainly because of the services the organizations provide, the fear they cause, the indistinct
information available about them, and their national level of organization. In order to gain influence in
a community, criminal organizations will provide services that the people within that community
might want, for a cost: immunity from any actions taken against organized crime. In return for helping
fund a politician, help a police officer with the bills, or even help the average citizen or businessperson
overcome a problem. The only requirement is that in exchange for that service, the person must be

any threats that the organization makes. The organization s use the appearance of absolute power to

from taking notice of the organization. Organized crime also remains hidden from the public eye
because the public and the government only focus on one aspect of organized crimes revenues, which
allows the organizations to profit from a broad range of criminal activities even while the government
or public attempt to stop the revenues from one source, making it very difficult for the government to
stop organized crime from being a profitable business (Ruth 115). The criminal organizations have

melodramatic performances and translates those elements into his fiction (Lobdell 273). In Dracula, a
key component of its story is its supernatural elements which are a key element of Gothic literature
giving forth the whole story being about vampires. Horror aspects of Dracula can be seen in moments
where vampires lose their humanity. In addition to horror and mystery aspects, Gothic literature is also

The Importance Of Controversy In Art
Art has been apart of humanity for about 300,000 to 700,000 years and has served as a form of
expression ever since. With expression comes interpretation and with interpretation comes
controversy. Controversy can be found in all forms of art such as music, illustrations, and even
television shows. Controversy in artwork can affect the consumer in numerous ways and some may
argue how the controversy affects the consumer. Author Jessica Hopper shows how controversy in art
can lead to a stronger emotional connection with the art and the consumer. Jessica Hopper, an author
as well as music critic, speaks about her personal experience with the controversy regarding emo
music and how women are given no life. Author Jesse Hassenger shows how controversy can
negatively affect the consumer. Hassenger talks about James Rolfe, also known as The Angry Video
Game Nerd , who posted a viral video about the controversy regarding the new Ghostbusters
adaptation. I believe the effect controversy has on its consumer is completely dependent on the
thoughts and beliefs the consumer has on the subject at hand. Author Jessica Hopper would argue that
controversy has a positive effect on the consumer because it gives the consumer a stronger emotional
connection with the artwork. This is evident in her writing Emo: Where The Girls Aren t . Hopper is a
fan of the emo genre in music. Hopper feels that women have been locked out of this genre that she

Connotation In Le Message Photographique, By Roland Barthes
In le message photographique ( Communications 1, 1961), roland barthes states that photography is a

functions, in a first and more fundamental level, according to the regime of denotation . The
denotative impression that an image arouse, Barthes observes, is so intense to make any description
impossible considering that describing an image means to add to the denoted message a codified

Theme Of Identity In The Absolutely True Diary Of A...
Many times in life, difficult decisions have to be made regarding one s future. It is difficult for people
to find a balance between pursuing their dreams and remaining true to themselves and those they care
about. This struggle is commonly evident when one is caught between two cultures. These cultures
often include a level of loyalty that is hard to break, but is necessary in the pursuit of dreams and
potential. My mom felt this struggle in her life between her mexican heritage and her decision to move

co branding, brand licensing, and brand repositioning. Pipeworks Brewing Company is a manufacturer
s brand that uses a family brand strategy. The family brand strategy as defined by (BOOK CITE) is
where several products are sold under one name. Pipeworks sells hundreds of different beers all under
the Pipeworks Brewing Company name. Pipeworks does not offer brand and line extensions, but they
do participate in co branding. (BOOK CITE) defines co branding as the practice of marketing two or
more brands together, on the same package . An example of Pipeworks co branding strategy is
working with local restaurants to brew beers specifically for that restaurant and placing both the
restaurant and Pipeworks brands on the beer label. As of now, Pipeworks has not been involved in
brand licensing and they have not had to reposition the brand. The target market and demographics for
Pipeworks includes micro brewery fans or craft beer drinkers. Typically craft beer drinkers like
heavier and stronger beer and are not drinking Budweiser and Bud Light. According to Bart Watson,
Chief Economist at the Brewers Assocation, the Median target individual for craft breweries are
males, Age 39, white, highly educated, with a relatively high income. Bart Watson also goes on to say
that Young women (21 34) now over index on craft, account for 15% of total craft volume

Intercultural Interview Essay
For the intercultural interview, I decided to interview my friend Medelyn, a 19 year old female of
Honduran and Mexican descent. During the interview, I focused on her Honduran culture, as she was
born in Honduras, I asked her a multitude of various questions ranging from formalities in her culture
to gender roles to classism in her culture.. The interview lasted about twenty minutes, I asked her
about fifteen questions, and after she answered each question there would be a small discussion about
her answer. When interviewing Medelyn, it was important to rid myself of any ethnocentrism,
assumed cultural similarity or differences, stereotyping, and anything that could create a bias and
compromise the interview. I started of the interview ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stating that There is a lot of inequality and everyone has a place in society. Subsequently, I followed
with a question inquiring whether Honduras was more of a masculine or feminine society. Masculine
societies tend to focus on competition, strength and dominance, contrarily, feminine societies have a
tendency to concentrate on being caring and supportive. Medelyn described Honduras as a place
where relationships tended to be more caring, traditional and supportive. My next question was about
individualism and whether or not Honduras was more of an individualist or collectivist society.
Individualist cultures, as stated in Chapter 3, Value personal rights and responsibilities, privacy,
voicing one s opinion, freedom, innovation and self expression. , while collectivities cultures value
community, collaboration, shared interests, harmony, the public good, and avoiding embarrassment.
Medelyn described Honduras as A place where being loyal to the community is valued and there is
shared blame and responsibilities. , which would mean Honduras is more of a collectivist society,
given the description of community being valued rather than individuals, meaning that people care for
the welfare of the society. Context was the subject of my next question, figuring out whether
Honduras was a low or high context society was what I inquired from Medelyn. A lot of
communication is done by hand signals, body movements,

Introduction
This paper will cover two criminological theories and they will be applied to two types of criminality.
The two theories chosen for the paper were developmental theory and rational choice theory. The two
types of crimes that were chosen were organized crime, specifically focusing on gangs, and terrorism.
Then the crimes will be compared and contrasted. Finally, the developmental theory will be applied to
organized crime to explain why and how it happens. The rational choice theory will be applied to
terrorism to explain what compels individuals to attempt this form of criminality.

many ways. They both are structured with well thought out organization and are multi leveled, just
like a corporation would be. Both are involved with illegal business activities. This includes the
smuggling and selling of drugs, kidnapping, and human trafficking. The members of the groups are
normally deviant with their behavior. They consist or aggressive, violent, and dehumanizing natures.
They feel satisfaction from killing innocent people and striking fear in the individuals that oppose

Car Vs SUV Essay
Technology has brought many luxuries to people. The invention of the automobile has brought
convenience to everyday living. People use their vehicles to commute to work, school, home, and
other events. Some people cannot even imagine living life without the use of an automobile. People
have different tastes in the type of automobile that they drive; the automotive industry has made
several different ways to commute. The car and the sports utility vehicle seem to be the most common
types. The sports utility vehicle is inferior to the car.
The sports utility vehicles harm the environment more then cars do. It takes more gas to fill up these
vehicles, and the big engines consume it as if they re where no ... Show more content on

In addition, the stopping distance is longer considering the weight factor of the vehicle. Both these
issues make this automobile very dangerous to the driver, passengers, other motorist, pedestrians, and
small furry animals. On the other hand, the lower center of gravity that the car has to offer makes this
vehicle less likely to roll over. There is also a shorter stopping distance for the car considering the
weight of the car is much lighter.
Sports utility vehicles take up more room compared to the car. There have been several infamous
people with sports utility vehicles who park in the compact parking spaces specifically designed for
compact cars. Other notorious sport utility drivers have been spotted taking up two parking spaces.
These enormous machines make it difficult for other conventional people to get in and out of their
automobiles. Conversely, cars take up less space to park. This allows more people to park in the area.
Sports utility vehicles block the vision of the cars behind them. This does not allow drivers in the cars
to be able to look ahead of the road. This can be very dangerous. For example, an owner of a sports
utility vehicle is driving on the high way. When all of a sudden, an endangered chimpanzee pops out
on to the road. The sports utility vehicle swerves out the way avoiding it. Nevertheless, the driver of
the car was not able to see ahead of

Of course, there was the use of two cars, guns and many gadgets to make the scene. They made the scene seem more effective by using dramatic music and the sound effects of the guns and cars. Special effects were used to make blood look real and grenade explosions. Many effects were also made by Computer Generated Images on the cars invincibility and the large beam on the ice. The Johnny English car chase was also set in the daylight but in the streets of London. Again, they use many different camera shots; these are Long shot, Focus and Medium shots. In this scene Johnny English and Bough are on a car chase to capture the villains that have stolen the crown jewels. They make this scene more effective by using sounds for the guns and make it more intense by using action like music. Not only are the sounds effective but they used special effects. When Johnny English fired a missile into the speed camera they had to use special effects to make it look real. They also had to use a stunt man to climb out of the truck with Bough and into the sports car that it was towing. The iconography is very similar to James Bond, for example, the sports car, gadgets and the smart clothes. The only thing that makes this scene different is the humour used. As Johnny English s character is supposed to mess up, he does things wrong that can seem humorous towards the audience. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Below you will find my analysis and recommended corrective actions as well as how management by exception applies. Budget Planning Concerns Competition Bikes has a good starting point for a budget but is overall weak and has several budgetary concerns. A few of those items are mentioned for budget planning below. In year 7 when sales ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poor net sales projections impacts cash flow. Variable Costs. Overall the company had favorable variances in variable costs, excluding the efficiency variance. As expected, since Competition Bikes sold less than predicted, their related costs: direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead and variable expenses were less than budgeted amounts showing a favorable variance. The labor and overhead revenue and spending variances however, showed unfavorable due to actual output despite the changes to the flexible budget. With the prediction of decreases costs based on sales, these costs should have also decreased. There is no further information on why these rates were high, Competition Bikes will need to look into those expenses. Advertising and transportation forecasted costs should have also decreased but instead, increased. Although an increase in advertising was recommended, the additional costs were not accounted for in the flexible budget. Transportation out is covered by a per unit contract so the decrease in sales should have reflected a decrease in transportation out costs. Both of these costs should have decreased with the decrease in sales like direct materials did. These negative variances indicate the company cannot control costs. This could be caused by a number things: fraud, miscommunication, poor forecasting, unexpected economic changes, etc. Competition Bikes needs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The direction of Turkey s foreign policy has shaped by many factors and geopolitics defiantly played an important part in it. It is impossible for pure good and pure evil to coexist, and this is apparent in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In this book, we see a racist town of Maycomb in the mid 1900 s react to injustice through the eyes of Scout Finch, a young girl with brother Jem and caring father, Atticus. While young, we see the children of Atticus Finch grow and mature through his teachings and good morals, as well as see them experience and witness the good and evil in their townsfolk. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characters like Bob Ewell make this possible. Bob Ewell represents the pure evil in the town, and is presented in such a way that makes it quite obvious. Mr. Ewell is the character that kills mockingbirds, or destroys people s innocence. Atticus describes him early in the book, saying: ..and it s certainly bad, but when a man spends his relief checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from hunger pains. (41). Not only is Bob Ewell a drunk, selfish and abusive father, but he is also inherently evil in the way he destroys his children s innocence by being neglectful, but also Tom Robinson s innocence. His racist way of accusing Tom of rape sends him to a death sentence, when Tom in a desperate last effort to be freed gets shot. Atticus describes Tom s attempted escape as: I guess Tom was tired of white men s chances and preferred to take his own. (315). Tom, as readers briefly got to know, was not the type of man to desperately escape. He was hopeless and could see no other options, as white men s chances was a sure death sentence. In this case, Bob had literally killed an innocent man for no other reason than his own selfish, evil desires. Once again, we see that pure good and pure evil cannot coexist, and results in the loss of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Biblical Theme Of The Old Testament V. New Testament Thematic Biblical Theme An Analysis of Son of Man perceptions in the Old Testament v. New Testament Alejandro Londono (Professor) (University) 6 Nov 2014 The term Son of Man is translated differently by the prophets, apostles, and people of the Old Testament when compared to how the term is viewed in the New Testament. In analyzing how the terms are perceived during these times, it becomes possible to trace the theme of the Son of Man, and how it was viewed in the Old Testament, to how the Son of Man has been viewed in the New Testament. In observing these differences, one can clearly see the term had similar meanings, but was represented in a different fashion, depending on the peoples and circumstances of the time period. In analyzing these occasions in which the term Son of Man is used throughout the two testaments, it will become clear as to their intended, and actual interpretations. In the Old Testament, it is Ezekiel who is the protagonist, in a sense. This becomes apparent, because Ezekiel plays such a vital role to the message behind the books of the Old Testament. Ezekiel was a man as God had intended, and can also be viewed as the coming savior in the Old Testament (Morris Henry, Ph.D., 1 3). The importance of Ezekiel is soon observed, and as noticed in chapter 2, verse 1 of the book Ezekiel of the Old Testament, God commands Ezekiel to stand, so that he may be commissioned as a prophet for the peoples of Israel (UcoG, ... Sexual Selection allows for individuals who possess certain qualities to produce more offspring than others, resulting in the evolution by means of natural selection of that trait and the diminishing of the traits of the weaker individuals. This allows for greater fitness of an individual which will in turn benefit the species as a whole. Male Fiddle crabs possess one large claw, which has been observed to be used as a weapon and as a signal of courtship (Callander et al. 2013). Some mexicans like dressing up with boots and big belts, they have a certain look which now people call Paisa Look . The only difference is that caucasians are not the minority in this country. • 20. Compare A Christmas Memory And The Gettysburg Address The Great Depression was set off by the stock market crash of October 29, 1929. During the next ten years, one in four people were unemployed, and begging for food, shelter, and other necessities was widespread. A Christmas Memory, by Truman Capote, takes place during the height of that period. Buddy and his friend, a mentally disabled older cousin of his, have to learn how to survive and be joyful during that period. The story takes place during the holiday season, where Buddy and his friend have to scrape together enough to have a good holiday. One lesson the story suggests is that when people persevere, they may be able to find bliss even in the worst and most trying times. Similarly, The Gettysburg Address also expresses the same theme of perseverance through the fiery words of Abraham Lincoln. The theme of perseverance is shown from the beginning of both A Christmas Memory and The Gettysburg Address . In A Christmas Memory, Buddy and his friend scramble to make fruitcakes for their friends, even though there is no money for them to use, and alcohol, a key ingredient, is prohibited. An example of their perseverance is when they go to Haha Jones, an illegal alcohol dealer, to buy the final ingredient, whiskey. This shows perseverance because they needed to make fruitcakes, so they went to extreme lengths to be able to produce them. The denotative impression that an image arouse, Barthes observes, is so intense to make any description impossible considering that describing an image means to add to the denoted message a codified message of second level: the verbal language. The denotation, however, does not exclude connotation, instead, it is exactly the paradox of photography: the coexistence of two messages one without a code, the other one codified. Barthes, indeed, defines photography as a message without a code . However, is the same Barthes, in the la camera chiara, to clamorously deny this theory admitting that he can t include in his book an old photo portraying his mother as a kid in a winter garden. Why he refuses to include a picture that he could use to develop his reflections about the topic? Because, as he states, that photo exists just for himself, for us would not be more than a random photo, one of the myriad representation of the ordinary; it cannot be the visual object of a science, it cannot establish an objectivity , we can might be interest just from a cultural point of view: epoch, clothes etc. He realises that his readers do not have the code to interpret it in the right way. it becomes an allegory because, even remaining a codified language ,it stop to be common property of a culture and it became an intimate language, personal, that no one apart form the subject itself can ... • 41. Theme Of Identity In The Absolutely True Diary Of A... Many times in life, difficult decisions have to be made regarding one s future. It is difficult for people to find a balance between pursuing their dreams and remaining true to themselves and those they care about. This struggle is commonly evident when one is caught between two cultures. These cultures often include a level of loyalty that is hard to break, but is necessary in the pursuit of dreams and potential. My mom felt this struggle in her life between her mexican heritage and her decision to move to America. She struggled with deciding to leave her home and those she loved, however when she did she found a greater sense of self and new opportunities. To this day she feels loyalty to her mexican heritage and remains a citizen of Mexico to demonstrate her patriotism. She found a greater identity between the two cultures. In Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian the protagonist, Junior, experiences an internal struggle between his loyalty to his tribe and his desire to leave and pursue his future. Junior s internal conflict enhances the theme of identity by demonstrating how even after leaving the reservation, he remained true to his roots while developing his sense of self. The internal conflict that Junior faces with leaving his tribe to pursue his future at Reardan adds to the discovery of his identity. The reservation was both heaven and hell for Junior although he felt a sense of belonging there, he also found himself lacking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
