Far From Heaven Analysis
Far From Heaven
Cathy Whitaker as well as her friend s and their friendship definitely represent the roles a female
wore back in the 1950 s. Cathy and her friend s all represented the perfect housewife, cooking,
cleaning, raising the children and catering to their men. Their main focus wa their family, their
gatherings, their dinner parties and trying to keep up their social status within their own inner
circle and within their own community. Also, the women wore dresses and skirts, had their hair
and makeup perfectly done as if they were ready for a night out, not for a day spent at home doing
housework. The men, in the film, all worked, wore suits and ties, played golf, and came home to
where their wives catered to them, so they could relax and unwind after a long hard day ... Show

Although Far From Heaven was made in 2002 it represent an era of time 1957 1958 when things
such as affairs, racism, mental illness and homosexuality was taboo, don t discuss, don t
acknowledge, don t mingle and it doesn t exist. Each movie played ran on the billboard for the
movie theater all were made in the 1956 era and all portrayed an area of taboo or no no s back then.
For instance, Three Faces Of Eve was made in 1956 and was about a woman with multiple
personality disorder. Miracle In The Rain was a movie released also in 1956 that was about a
lonely young woman and a lonely young man home on leave from the war. Both meet, end up
becoming friends and have a growing affection and love for one another. Their love doesn t
survive when the young man returns to the war and is killed, leaving the young woman devastated
and again lonely. Hilda Crane is a movie about falling in love and an affair. Bold and The Brave is
basically about good and evil, right and wrong. Again, all four of these movies are signs of difficult

Berlusconi s Struggles Essay
According to Silvio Berlusconi, he is the best political leader in Europe and in the world. There
can be a difference in opinion regarding that statement, but the majority of Italian voters decided
Berlusconi should be elected prime minister again in 2008. He is in the midst of his third term as
prime minister of Italy; inheriting many challenges from his predecessor. During his time in office,
addition problems arose. An analysis of Berlusconi s government reveals three issues affecting
Italy: the garbage pick up strike in Naples, immigration, and personal scandals. An analysis shows
the causes, repercussions and responses to the issues.

Inadequate resolutions to this problem early on have allowed this to happen again in 2007.
Although $11 billion has been spent on waste management, it has not prevented the issue from
recurring ( Rubbish in Naples ).
The garbage crisis started in December 2007 when landfills closed and workers stopped collecting
trash. With nowhere else to dump garbage, streets became dumpsters. The Naples strike had
garbage piling up to an incredible height and even narrowed streets. Residents were left to deal
with the foul smell of the left over trash, but also the possibility of the trash having an effect on
their health.
The European Commission set a deadline of a month for the garbage to be picked up in Naples.
In a press release, the European Commission formally accused Italy of not adhering to EU
legislation on waste and threatened legal actions if measures were not taken to alleviate the
problem ( Commission Sends Final Warning ). Stavros Dimas, a top environmental official,
estimated that 100,000 tons of garbage was contributing to the problem (Polvoledo, EU Criticizes
Italy ). The European Commission argued that the risk of the spread of disease and pollution
through air, water and land needed to be taken seriously ( Commission Sends Final Warning ). If
Italy did not resolve the garbage crisis by the deadline it imposed, the case would be sent to the
European Court of Justice. The mafia in Italy has economic, social,

government entities By Kamran Ahmed and Manzurul Alam aims at finding the changes of key

Ontological Contentions
A standout amongst the most interesting contentions for the presence of an all impeccable God is
the ontological contention. While there are a few distinct renditions of the contention, all indicate
to demonstrate that it is self conflicting to deny that there exists a biggest conceivable being. In this
way, on this general line of contention, it is an essential truth that such a being exists; and this
being is the Divine force of conventional Western belief in higher powers. This article clarifies and
assesses great and contemporary forms of the ontological contention.
The vast majority of the contentions for God s presence depend on no less than one exact

Analysis Of Sophistication By Sherwood Anderson And...
Both Sophistication by Sherwood Anderson and Running out of Music by Constant Squires use
symbols, conflict and character development to represent the complexity of connection. The
corn field that George Willard views and the time that Nately gives Lucinda music symbolize the
fulfillment that results from being able to depend on others. George Willard takes Helen White
and wanders out into the countryside. Together and in silence, They went along a path past a
field of corn that had not yet been cut. The wind whispered among the dry corn blades
(Anderson 5). Similarly Lucinda walks back towards her house in silence until Nately says, ...so
I don t know if I can get to everything, but I ll try hard. Let s meet here same time two weeks
from today, and I ll give you what I ve got (Squires 16). In order to become tall, a stalk of corn
needs all the other corn in the field to survive. A single stalk of corn is unable to stand by itself.
In a similar manner Lucinda would not be able to grow and mature if she did not have Nately to
bring her music. Nately is like the other corn in field, supporting Lucinda and helping her
mature. If one stalk of corn tried to stand on its own, it would be blown over by the whispered
wind . The whispered wind is similar to Nately sharing music with Lucinda because Nately is not
supposed to see Lucinda, their meeting, two weeks from today , is like a whispered secret
between the two of them. As the whispered wind shares messages through the corn, Nately
shares music with Lucinda. She depends on him to meet her two weeks from today and give her
music. Lucinda depends on Nately in the same way that all the corn stalks in the field depend
on the other corn stalks to grow tall and mature. The corn in the field that George observes and
the set times where Nately gives Lucinda music represent the fulfillment that comes from being
able to rely on others. George s desire to disconnect from his past and Lucinda s desire to
connect to her past represent the struggles of remembrance. George grew up in Winesburg and he
still lives there now. George does not want to reside in Winesburg anymore, He was about to leave
Winesburg to go away to some city where he hoped to get work

Research Paper On Cadillac
The name Cadillac is well known all over the world because of the Detroit based General Motors
division manufactured Cadillac car. Few know however that it comes from the name of the
French founder of Detroit, Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, a name that makes
reference to the little French town of Cadillac situated in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region.
Historically Cadillac is a bastide founded in 1280 by the Edward I, King of England for the
defense of Bordeaux. In 1315 the bastide surrounds itself with a defensive wall form which we
still can see 2 gates, 3 towers and almost the entire rampart. The most important historic monument
of the town is the Cadillac Castle . The castle was built between 1599 and1610 by Jean Louis

Online Discussion Of Online Education
Introduction
While attending the 2011 Central Division APA conference, I found myself engaged in several
casual discussions with colleagues. If it was mentioned that I was going to be taking part in the
Committee for Computers and Philosophy s discussion of online education in philosophy, there
would sometimes come a rather curious moment in the conversation. I began to think of it as the
microwave question moment. Many years ago, when microwave ovens first were advertised,
there was a rather clever ad depicting a salesperson standing in front of a crowd of people, going on
and on about all the wonderful advantages of microwave cooking, until a deep voice from the back
spoke up with: But does it brown the food?
Online course delivery has become increasingly prevalent in higher education, and there is often
great pressure on educators to deliver courses in this manner. There is, however, still quite a bit of
skepticism from those who have not ventured into online teaching. They ask the educational
equivalent of the microwave question. Can students learn well, online? Can you teach philosophy
effectively, online? And finally, most importantly, does the online venue serve student interest? My
answer is: Yes. It browns the food! Online content delivery, when done skillfully, has some great
advantages for the student, and may be especially well suited for the teaching of philosophy.
I began my teaching career in the traditional face to face classroom. I did not dip into

With increasing anxiety and agitation, he began to worry that the Nazis were plotting to kill his

Jim definitely could have anxiety that is becoming paranoia due to the fact he is worrying a lot

The Meaning Of The Word Profession
Across academia, scholars debate the meaning of the word profession. The term invokes many
connotations and expectations, but few can agree on an actual meaning.1 Geoffrey Millerson, a
prominent sociologist, defined profession as a type of higher grade, non manual occupation, with
both subjectively and objectively recognized occupational status, possessing a well defined area of
study or concern and providing a definite service, after advanced training and education. 2
According to Millerson s definition, the United States Armyis in fact a profession.
Millerson identifies the first component of a profession as higher grade, non manual occupation .
Many academics agree that a key component of a profession is specialized skill based on a body of
knowledge.3 Initially, many will contend that the U.S. Army does not pass the first requirement.
Soldiers work long and hard often completing tasks requiring physical strength and endurance. At
first glance, the composition and mission of the military undermines the definition of a profession.
Obviously, the military relies on a certain amount of physical labor to complete its mission.
However, the military is also composed of personnel who manage and direct the employment of
assets to strategically, operationally, or tactically defeat the enemy. The knowledge required to
employ those capabilities offsets the physical labor necessary to accomplish the task. The army
requires officers to be educated and to fulfill

Policinging, Police, Corruption, And Police Use Of Force
This paper addresses four problems that policing faces in the United States. The problems that
will be covered throughout the paper are: police discretion, race and policing, police corruption,
and police use of force. Throughout the paper, I will provide an understanding for each problem,
discuss some issues of each, and provide some suggestions of how these problems should be
addressed. I will provide some examples of each problem. This semester we covered many topics
related to policing and these four topics are of interest to me.
The first pressing problem that I will be discussing is police discretion. Police discretion is defined
as the decision an officer makes if they want to proceed with a police matter or give someone a
warning. Mastrofski (2004) described discretion as officers having freedom with choosing
different options of performing their daily duties. Officers are expected to go out on the street
and respectfully do their jobs. Police officers are trained on when to use police discretion.
Officers use discretion in the cases of domestic violence disputes, traffic violations, hate crimes,
and mentally ill individuals. An officer will use their discretion to make an arrest. For example,
depending on the appearance of the victim the officer will make the choice of arresting the
perpetrator or leaving the situation alone. Discretion will take place when an arresting officer must
decide on what type of charges to file against a person who was arrested (Walker,

Essay on Monetary Policy
Introduction
Monetary policy is among the many tools used by a national government to manipulate its financial
system. Monetary policy refers to the method used by the financial authority of any country to
control the supply and availability of money (Woelfel, 1994). It is often targeted at interest rates to
achieve lay down objectives directed towards economic growth and stability (Woelfel, 1994).
Monetary policy rests on the link between interest rates in an economy, that is, the relationship
between interest rates and the total money supply. It employs a variety of methods to control
outcomes like inflation, economic growth, currency exchange rates and unemployment.
Monetary policy can either be expansionary policy in which case ... Show more content on

One of these approaches is quantitative easing (QE). Quantitative easing is a technique used by
central banks to boost money supply in an economy when interest rates are close to or at zero thus
cannot be reduced further (Woelfel, 1994). To increase the supply of money under such conditions,
the central bank may be forced to buy government assets/securities like government bonds,
mortgage backed securities or government debt from banks thus increase their surplus revenue
hence raise or stabilize prices of such securities and consequently reduce interest rates in the long
term.
With this insight in mind, the remaining part of this essay seeks to critically examine the methods
of implementing monetary policy when interest rates are close to or at zero.
Monetary Policy Options at the Zero Bound
Interest rates have the lowest bound at zero mark. When this limit is reached, serious problems
occur in designing appropriate monetary policy approaches since interest rates can never be set
below this mark. Countries like Japan, United States and Switzerland have faced this challenge in
the recent past thus calling for alternative approaches to monetary policy when the nominal
interestrate is close or at zero.
Conventional monetary policy methods are always channeled towards lowering interest rates to
stabilize inflation and other outputs. This is however impossible in situations whereby the interest
rates are already close to or zero calling for

Pivotal Dichotomy
The Pivotal Dichotomies of Science and Religion
Science can help identify and elaborate upon the laws of nature, help humans ascertain an improved
understanding of the universe, and enable people to acquire powerful thinking skills to generate
innovative and beneficial ideas. However, in the recent centuries many scholars have addressed the
numerous conflicts that have emerged between the fields of science and religion. Although certain
similar factors can render science and religion compatible, many differences have caused a
contentious divisiveness to permeate between the two fields. Many philosophers have contemplated
and debated the relationship between science and religion. While both science and religion ask and
answer questions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religion often concentrates its arguments on the actual creator or god of the universe. For instance,
religions often assert that God is a being with intelligence, will, desires, and dislikes. Religions in
turn have a propensity to focus on the desires of the creator, the codes of behavior that God expects
humans to exhibit, rewards the creator bestows upon those who obey these requirements, and the
punishments God inflicts upon transgressors who violate the requirements. Religion also
emphasizes the specific manners by which God created the universe, as in Genesis, established by
the Ancient Israelites and promoted by modern Christians. Rather than focusing on the actual
creation or universe, religions tend to focus on the creator and the concepts of God that are
expressed and maintained in the religious doctrine. In contrast, science tends to refrain from
generating assertions regarding the creator and instead focuses entirely on the actual creation.
Science primarily addresses many different aspects of the creation, including the beginnings of the
universe, the matter and features of the world, how stars and galaxies formed, how planets were
established, how our planet generates life, and how life functions and develops on Earth. Although
science and religion both express divine laws, science focuses on the laws of nature that govern the
motions and developments of

A New Electronic Board Game
Paul Smith, Roberta and Theo are 3 friends whom want to start a new business based upon their
idea of a new electronic board game, which will be manufactured by the group themselves. Within
this case, I have found many legal issues that must be tackled or understood for the business to run
legally and smoothly.
The first issue found in the case is based around the logo that has been created by Paul for their
business. First, we have to ask if Paul has checked his logo; which can also be known as a trademark
, against New Zealand s list of registered trademarks and if their chosen trademark (name, brand,
logo) is the same or similar to any others registered companies. Secondly, we would need to see if
Paul plans to register the company. Paul could decide not to register the company but still
successfully use their unregistered trademark due to S9 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA), yet
a registered trademark offer s the company better protection and it is strongly advised that
companies register their trade mark under the Trade Mark Act 2002 (TMA). The TMA offers a
number of advantages over the FTA in terms of trademarks. Trademarks are considered under
statue law meaning it can be both criminal and civil law, therefore meaning the company could be
sued or face a large fine if their trademark is similar to another and they continue to use it. This
could misrepresent the original owners of the trademark, which may lead to loss for the particular
company. In this case, the trio

For many of us, we can recognize the characteristics and how they add value to lives, unfortunately
though many of us will struggle voicing these strengths openly during job interviews, performance

learners and it is through these experiences that we develop these strengths which allows us to
become an essential part of a relationship whether it is a personal or professional relationship. As

Surrealism Impact
Surrealism: The Global Impact of the Puzzling Art Movement
Imagine having the ability to observe an entirely new universe not yet explored by the human eye.
Visualize having the ability to completely free your imagination, letting your thoughts and desires
wander to form exotic scenes or locations. These unfamiliar worlds lay deep inside of the brain as
subconscious thoughts, usually undetected by the person with them in his or her possession. With
the help of the intriguing art movement known as Surrealism, however, these subconscious
thoughts are finally able to be brought to fruition. Surrealism is a unique style of art that originated
in France with the help of brilliant writer AndrГ© Breton (Chilvers 599). He defined surrealism and
its principles as a purely psychic automatism through which we undertake to express, in words,
writing, or any other activity, the actual functioning of thought... Surrealism rests upon belief in the
higher reality of specific forms of associations, previously neglected, in the omnipotence of dreams,
and in the disinterested play of thinking (Chilvers 599). He also strongly emphasized that its
purpose was to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into an absolute
reality, a super reality (Chilvers 599). Surrealism is a 20th century style of painting which rebels
against traditional notions of art. In order to understand this genre, it is necessary to examine the

Hot Tin Roof Play
The day my group and I received our assignment, we agreed to portray a play that seems easy to
perform. The play in which my group and I had a strong connection with is Cat On A Hot Tin
Roof. We performed the end of Act 1, Scene 1 for various reasons. The act contained various
emotions, intriguing dialogue, various literary devices and a deep perception of social
relationships. The interactions of Brick and Maggie and Maggie and Brick s nieces and nephews.
The thought process for picking this scene was a challenge. We realized this scene was not
evenly distributed with character s monologue. We began blurting out ideas that would help us
decide on keeping this scene or changing to a new one. My first idea was to switch roles in the
middle of the scene in order for everyone to have an equal part. My group members agreed with
this idea, until another member s thought came up. One of my group members, thought of a

My rings were to symbolize the bond I share with Brick and the jewelry I was putting on, as
Maggie s actions were stated. The children would use bottle caps or crumpled papers, used to
throw at Maggie when they are mocking her. My group and I could not find a crutch for the
member playing Brick, to use. I decided to take off the end of a broomstick and use the stick as
a crutch. I came up with the idea of using the classroom as a prop too. The teacher s desk would
be my makeup dresser. As I am speaking to Brick, I would use the computer screen, as if, I am
putting on makeup.
As stated earlier, I chose the end of act 1, scene 1 in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, because it introduced
a deeper concept of emotions and interactions in the play. The beginning of the play was not
intriguing to my group members and I. I did not understand why the husband and the wife were
filled with anger and hostility until the end of the act. The author had me in strings because I did
not know how the character, Maggie should be

Pawnee School Case Study
Why this situation is Undesirable
How the teacher shortage will harm the mission and values of this school While the mission of this
school is not clearly articulated on the school s website, the values of the Pawnee School District
are clearly shown in its philosophy statement:
Pawnee School is committed to providing students with a nurturing challenging, and disciplined
education that will prepare them for post high school opportunities. Our district recognizes
individual expression, creativity, and initiative, as well as encourages enthusiasm for life long
learning and an excellence in all endeavors. We will assist each student in developing a positive
and realistic self image that will allow them to maximize their talents and become happy, healthy,
and productive members of society. ( Our Staff, 2017)
From this philosophy statement, it is obvious that this school values growing students, establishing
a disciplined growth culture, and improving the self image of the students. As teachers are often
cited as most important factor dictating students learning (McCaffery et al, 2003), they play a
significant factor in establishing the school s and classroom culture (Supovitz Turner, 2000), and
building the self worth of students (Ryan, Stiller, Lynch... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Themes In Shakespeare s Comedy Of Errors By William...
The lights dim, the audience is quiet, and the characters begin to gather on the stage. The
audience finds themselves in the middle of New York City, captivated by the seriousness of the
actors. A girl in a trench coat, who is revealed as the duke, sits down in a chair with two people at
her side. Distraught and aggravated, a boy with grayed hair and a cane comes out, who says his
name is Egeon. The story begins through this tense and uptight interaction between the characters,
and suddenly the audience finds themselves lost in the ideas of Shakespeare. Comedyof Errors, an
enthralling and entertaining play written by William Shakespeare, contains a riveting and unique
storyline. The story begins with the forlorn idea of a father trying to discover and reunite his
family who was split apart by a shipwreck. Egeon, who is introduced in the first act, is the father
of two twins named Antipholus of Ephesus and Antipholus of Syracuse. Antipholus of Ephesus
has grown up with his father, but his long lost twin has been off living his own life. Along with
this set of twins, comes their servants Dromio of Ephesus and Dromio of Syracuse who are also
twins and unaware of each other. The humor in this play lies in the fact that both sets of twins and
Egeon are all in the same city, but are oblivious to this throughout the play. The plotcontinues to

Locke argued that all ideas came from experience. The debate over nature versus nurture could be
spanned back to when philosophy was predominantly the way of explaining the acquisition of
knowledge and continues in more recent times with scientific evidence consisting of facts and
numbers giving support to one side or the other. Both the recent and historical back and forth
between great scholars helps each one individually to come to their own conclusions of whether
nature or nurture is the more dominant factor contributing to a person s knowledge and intelligence.
Learned behaviour is the result of experiences through life, nurture rather than nature. An acquired
behaviour is the type of attribute which cannot be passed on genetically; the ability to read and

pain is experienced due to a particular course of action; for example, if someone puts their fingers

Legalizing Abortion
Legalizing Abortion
As the rate of abortion has rapidly increased for past several years, it has been an issue that
everyone has thought about it at least once. Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and
most defenseless among us. There can be plausible reasons that they support abortion. However, I
oppose to legalize abortion because not only that parents should accept the responsibility that comes
with producing a child, but also it is highly risky for women both physically and mentally and the
fact that it is undeniably a murder.
Firstly, people need to take responsibility for their actions and accept the consequences. Unwanted
pregnancy is often caused by the sexual intercourse for pleasure. We already have learned that...

If we legalize the abortion, the pain of unborn human beings will be unstoppable in the end.
Some people would say that when the baby is fertilized by a rape, it would be a horrible for the
women. However, in that case, there are a lot of caring systems where professionals give women
comfort and get psychological treatment. Also, the baby can be adopted by someone who really
wants adoption. By that, the women can at least get rid of the stress of raising kid.
I strongly oppose abortion, it should not be taken lightly; as one of the solutions, more of
education has to be done for all of the young adults which can teach responsibility of their actions.
In addition, a lot of dangerous factors caused on women are very disastrous, which can cause
infertility for the whole life or even death. The gravity of death of women is not light. What if the
action of killing unborn child is equal to killing grown man and women? Wouldn t legalizing the
abortion be considered again?

AOL joined hands with Time Warner to create synergy between its online businesses and Warner s
media business.
Two significant factors affected the post merger company. One, the dot com burst meant adverse
effect on AOL s advertising revenues. And two, dial up subscribers decreased thereby affecting
revenues and overall profitability of AOL. A key element in the turnaround strategy should be to
offer free content on its portal. This strategy will benefit AOL in attracting more online users and
advertising revenues.
When AOL began operations it soon became the leading company for pay online subscriber
service, bringing easy to use Internet service to more than 30 million users. AOL was mainly

subscribers rapidly. The dial up segment though profitable, was declining in revenues having lost

Different tests are usually performed to quantify the levels of cortisol, such as treating patients with
dexamethasone. Dexamethasone acts like cortisol for the patient s body. Upon delivery to a patient
who does not have adrenal tumor, the production of the cortisol will decrease. On the other hand if
a patient has an adrenal tumor, then hormone levels will stay high even after receiving
dexamethasone.
Another test that one can perform to measure the effect of an adrenal tumor is performing an
ACTH test, which measures the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the blood.
ACTH is a hormone that is produced from the pituitary gland in the brain. Thus by performing the
test one can get information about its concentration in the serum. Usually if adrenal mass is
influencing the corticosteroid levels the test will show a higher level of cortisol while giving a

Another diagnostic method to diagnose adrenal tumors is cortisol saliva testing. In this test, the

Gerasim In Leo Tolstoy s The Death Of Ivan Ilych
Ivan Ilych the protagonist from the novel The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy becomes ill and
is slowly dying. Ivan lives in depression and agony as his final days slowly diminish. Gerasim, the
butler s assistant, helps ease the pain and agony Ivan suffers from. Tolstoy utilizes Gerasim to
catalyze the realization and transformation Ivan experiences. Gerasim establishes Ivan s new
understanding of death, family, and morality. Ivan felt isolated as he neared death. Most people
who knew Ivan acknowledged his illness but not the fact that he was dying which aggravated
him, What tormented Ivan Ilych most was the deception, the lie, which for some reason they all
accepted, that he was not dying but was simply ill (40). Ivan felt deceived by everyone else
because no one accepted that his days were limited. Ivan felt secluded since many people ignored
the gravity of his condition and did not pay much attention to him. Gerasim filled the void Ivan felt
from being disregarded from others.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gerasim willingly did all the requests Ivan asked him to do such as, lifting him, to the sofa and
placed him on it and would also call Gerasim and get him to hold his legs on his shoulders, and
he liked talking to him (40). Ivan enjoyed Grasim s company due to the fact that he understood
Ivan and would help him out, something that others did not do. Through Gerasim, Ivan realizes
that he should view death in a negative way, rather accept it for what it is and not have fear of it.
This transformation Ivan undergoes is evident in his final days before dying. Ivan learned to
accept death and is joyous of it, stating right before he dies, So that s what it is! he suddenly
exclaimed aloud. What joy! (57). Dying eventually became a sense of tranquility for Ivan, easing
the pain from his illness. Gerasim is responsible for Ivan s new view on

customers don t just come here to buy a loaf of bread. They can do that anywhere. They come to
try new things. They come to see a friendly face. They come because they know our names and
we know theirs. But most of all, they come because we can tell them why not all Alaskan salmon

Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process
2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process
There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic
Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by
Tomas Saaty. AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is
used when the problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity
occurs because of the effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The
Analytic Network Process is a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach
comprises four steps [87]:
Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and
decomposed into a rational system like a network
Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at
each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition,
interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each
element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are
determined with Saaty s scale.
Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To
obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are
entered in the appropriate columns of a

The Stages Of Acute Cutaneous Wound Healing
The stages of acute cutaneous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic
patients
The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a
continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory
cells, platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore
a semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The
Cellular Biology of Wound Healing2016)
Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a
maturation phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and
forth throughout the stages.
After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3
days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be
disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts
these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. There then comes a rapid release of preformed
inflammatory mediators from the cells surrounding the injury, the first thing this causes is the
aggregation of platelets, these platelets adhere to extracellular surface structures which are exposed,
such as collagen and basement membranes, this in turn causes serotonin from platelet stores to be
stimulated. (Kirk, Phillips and Murray 2001)

Professional Learning Community
A Professional Learning Community, or PLC, is a group of educators that meets regularly, shares
expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of
students. Professional learning within communities requires continuous improvement, promotes
collective responsibility, and supports alignment of individual, team, school, and school system
goals.
The literature on professional learning communities repeatedly gives attention to five attributes of
such organizational arrangements:
1.Supportive and shared leadership,
2.Collective creativity,
3.Shared values and vision,
4.Supportive conditions, and
5.Shared personal practice.
Learning communities share collective responsibility for the learning of all students within the
school or school system by bringing together the entire education community, including members
of the education workforce teachers, support staff, school system staff, and administrators as well as
families, policy makers, and other stakeholders, to increase effective teaching in every classroom.

Turmoil to Hostility in Ireland
1845, was the start of a long period of great trouble for the Irish people. Although through many
struggles, the Irish prospered as a community. Starting in 1845 the Irish lost their main crop due to
an unknown fungus then got uprooted to immigrate or died of disease. The Irish came to America
searching for the American dream but only found hostility and unacceptance. This paper will cover
troubles through the potatofamine, the journey here and even how they were treated when they got
to America.
The potato blight, most known as the Irish potato famine, caused death and despair. The famine
was the main reason the Irish left to immigrate to the United States. Death rates began to rise
because of the starvation and diseases such as, cholera, measles and fever, caused by the lack of
Ireland s main food supply and crop. According to Donnelly, Overall excess morality from 1846
51 amounted to 1,082,000 people (171). Typhus and relapsing fever were the worst killers and
those led into dysentery and diarrhoea. Donnelly states, Factors that correlate most strongly with
most death was income per capita and literacy rate (178). Most of Ireland s population was settled
into poverty. However, any of the Irish fell into poverty because of the famine and diseases
attracted to the poor. Irish in rural areas moved to the cities in search for the food and shelter they
lacked and as they moved disease followed them and spread throughout the cities. Unsanitary

Internet Security And The Security System
Business and people are using Internet for entertainment, e business and e commerce, social
networking, and communication to the people and business, but there have always been threats to
the Internet Security. Internet security is major concern in field of technology, because there are
various personal, business and government data on the Internet. Today every businesses and
organizations have their own securitysystem to reach their goal of information security. Internet
security systems are created to reduce cyber attack risks, reliability, maintain confidentiality, and
compliance with privacy laws and national securitylaws. However security standard that has been
made, and laws brought by government are not more enough to protect Internet Security, so more
advanced security and more strict law by government should be brought in action to protect Internet
Security.
There are different kinds of security standards when integrating security approach in new systems.
Some government agencies and organizations use well established standards while others
companies make their own private security systems. Offsite storage has been beneficial for business
to store data on cloud due to storage constrains. Devanney, the author of Offsite Information

Bourdieu further argues that middle class children tend to achieve better qualifications and better
quality jobs than working class children of equal measured intelligence and also come to school
better equipped to succeed. In Zimbabwe a child from the working class goes to an
overcrowded school where the student is forced to do hot sitting because the school
infrastructure cannot accommodate them all at once in the morning. The small child gets to
school tired and cannot even concentrate in class because of fatigue. Another challenge is also
student teacher ratio where the teacher s attention is focused more on the brighter students than
on slow learners. On the other hand because their parents mix with colleagues of equal status
like garden boys and factory workers, it also follows that they can also link up jobs for their
children with people of equal status. This becomes a limiting factor for working class children s
chances in life. Mostly they are forced to take up menial jobs and less paying jobs despite good
academic qualifications. For example in Zimbabwe if kids from poor backgrounds want to do
courses like chartered accountancy, they are required to go through formal university education
first and of course be extremely

Reliability of Polygraph Testing Essay
A popular way on many crime dramas to determine if a suspect is lying or telling the truth is by
hooking them up to a polygraph machine. In a matter of a minute the police are able to determine if
the suspect is lying and guilty or, on the rare occasion, telling the truth and innocent. But, one has to
wonder, is it really that simple? Polygraphs measure four main factors that are thought to change
when a lie is told and more importantly, it is assumed that these changes indicate deception. The
four main factors are blood pressure, heart beat, perspiration, and breathing and these are recorded
by using simple devices. It is important to note from the beginning that those who question the
reliability of polygraphs do not doubt the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another noteworthy contribution was Vittorio Benumbs. Around World War One (WWI) he
experimented with a device that measured the rate and depth of breathing and based on these
experiments he concluded that this device could be used to gauge deception (The History and
Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). The United States government put these ideas of deception
testing to work during WWI when they measured the blood pressure of prisoners of war during
questioning. The first real big development towards the modern polygraph detector was in 1921
when Dr. John A. Larson invented an instrument that made the first permanent record of blood
pressure, pulse, and respiration (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). Despite all
the contributions from various people, the father of the polygraph is considered to be Leonard
Keeler. Keeler created his own polygraph which included a device called the galvanic skin
response which measures changes in skin s resistance to electricity, and therefore prespiration (The
History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). He is regarded as the father of the polygraph because
his polygraph combined the three main components that make up all modern polygraphs: the
pneumograph (records respiration changes), cardiograph, and the galvanic skin response.

Character Analysis Of Antony And Cleopatra
Antony and Cleopatra is one of Shakespeare s more glamourous plays that details a forbidden
romance in an incredibly passionate and often aloof way. While reading the play it is difficult to
find empathy in my heart for Antony and Cleopatra s demise. The way I read the play made me
feel second hand embarrassment for the way they handled their relationship and Antony was all
the more worse with his continued infidelity and immature actions. However, watching the play
in the intimate setting of the Round at the Folger Theater allowed the audience to have a more
intimate connection with the actors and better identify with the characters actions. The director
took care to light the mood of certain scenes accurately which effectively warmed and cooled the
audience down in a way the director wanted the audience to feel. The director also made several
casting decisions that really pushed the interpretation of the play he wanted to exhibit. The
technical production of the performance including lighting and sound paired with the casting
decisions made by the director help display the director s angle of one of Shakespeare s most
famous plays: to bridge the gap between Egypt and Rome, where the audience is able to gain an
understanding of the characters is ways they have never been able to before because of the way
their emotions and actions change on a whim. It is difficult to really get Antony and Cleopatra and
follow their story because of the way it bounces around so

Essay Texas Toll Roads
Texas Toll Roads an examination of tolling and alternate measures
Nothing that has occurred in the last several years in Texas has been quite as controversial as the
new and increased usage of toll roads for new road construction. We have heard many statements
that the toll roads are being built as a money making system for the state (and the Department of
Transportation). Statements have also been made to the effect that the state is selling the state, one
length of roadway at a time; that the current roads could be maintained by the state, with current
state funding levels. The main complaint is that the roads of Texas have always been free, and
should continue to be free. But are these arguments correct?
Texas Roads have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well, the money which is currently being gathered to fund road maintenance and building in
Texas, is not all going to road maintenance or building.
At this time, 18.4 cents is gathered as a federal gasoline tax, and 20 cents is gathered as a state gas
tax. However, the federal tax is sent to Washington, and we only receive back 87 cents of every
dollar sent (the rest goes to other states). As an example of this, Rhode Island gets back $2.10 for
every dollar in gas tax that they send to Washington. For the state gas taxes gathered, it is even
worse.
Of the money gathered by the state, almost 1 billion dollars is sent to other state agencies (such as
the Department of Public Safety, Education, and other state colleges and state parks).3 This money
is regulated by the state government to go to these other agencies, which detracts from the
department of transportation s ability to handle road maintenance. So, even before taking into
account the increases due to inflation, the budget of TxDOT is decreased by $1 billion dollars
(almost half of which goes to the state s educational system).
The state is selling itself, one length of roadway at a time.
People seem to want to believe that the state is giving

Big Dat An Essential Part Of Every Business Operation
Introduction:
You may have heard the term Big Data often these days and the importance of analytics attached to
it. The availability of good data set and analytics of it provide organizations ability to understand
consumer behavior and future prospects. This has now become an essential part of every business
operation. Data itself is not a new thing to humans, written records have been in existence since 4th
millennium BC. What has changed recently is that with digital inventions and significant growth in
internet access, most people are on the electronic grid for longer periods and spending lot of time
on emails, messaging, entertainment and social media applications. This huge growth in data
generation has given birth to the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both
structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data
stored across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and
supply chain management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most
of the silo systems do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which
may have technical challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software
interfaces. Lastly the volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be
effective to do such analysis. To handle various types of data (structured and unstructured) and large
data volumes, many vendors have developed specialized software which can perform predictive
analysis, data mining, forecasting and optimization. Together these tools are referred to as high
performance analytics.
In comparison to the traditional business intelligence, big data does provide major improvements.
Traditional business intelligence is top down approach whereas big data is bottom up and
empowers end users with a valuable analysis thus enabling them to take prompt and smart
business decisions. The value generated from big data analytics is applicable to all sectors. The
advantages of big data analytics are huge but it also raise serious concerns

  • 4. Far From Heaven Analysis Far From Heaven Cathy Whitaker as well as her friend s and their friendship definitely represent the roles a female wore back in the 1950 s. Cathy and her friend s all represented the perfect housewife, cooking, cleaning, raising the children and catering to their men. Their main focus wa their family, their gatherings, their dinner parties and trying to keep up their social status within their own inner circle and within their own community. Also, the women wore dresses and skirts, had their hair and makeup perfectly done as if they were ready for a night out, not for a day spent at home doing housework. The men, in the film, all worked, wore suits and ties, played golf, and came home to where their wives catered to them, so they could relax and unwind after a long hard day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inadequate resolutions to this problem early on have allowed this to happen again in 2007. Although $11 billion has been spent on waste management, it has not prevented the issue from recurring ( Rubbish in Naples ). The garbage crisis started in December 2007 when landfills closed and workers stopped collecting trash. With nowhere else to dump garbage, streets became dumpsters. The Naples strike had garbage piling up to an incredible height and even narrowed streets. Residents were left to deal with the foul smell of the left over trash, but also the possibility of the trash having an effect on their health. The European Commission set a deadline of a month for the garbage to be picked up in Naples. In a press release, the European Commission formally accused Italy of not adhering to EU legislation on waste and threatened legal actions if measures were not taken to alleviate the problem ( Commission Sends Final Warning ). Stavros Dimas, a top environmental official, estimated that 100,000 tons of garbage was contributing to the problem (Polvoledo, EU Criticizes Italy ). The European Commission argued that the risk of the spread of disease and pollution through air, water and land needed to be taken seriously ( Commission Sends Final Warning ). • 8. Analysis Of Sophistication By Sherwood Anderson And... Both Sophistication by Sherwood Anderson and Running out of Music by Constant Squires use symbols, conflict and character development to represent the complexity of connection. The corn field that George Willard views and the time that Nately gives Lucinda music symbolize the fulfillment that results from being able to depend on others. George Willard takes Helen White and wanders out into the countryside. Together and in silence, They went along a path past a field of corn that had not yet been cut. The wind whispered among the dry corn blades (Anderson 5). Similarly Lucinda walks back towards her house in silence until Nately says, ...so I don t know if I can get to everything, but I ll try hard. Let s meet here same time two weeks from today, and I ll give you what I ve got (Squires 16). In order to become tall, a stalk of corn needs all the other corn in the field to survive. A single stalk of corn is unable to stand by itself. In a similar manner Lucinda would not be able to grow and mature if she did not have Nately to bring her music. Nately is like the other corn in field, supporting Lucinda and helping her mature. If one stalk of corn tried to stand on its own, it would be blown over by the whispered wind . The whispered wind is similar to Nately sharing music with Lucinda because Nately is not supposed to see Lucinda, their meeting, two weeks from today , is like a whispered secret between the two of them. As the whispered wind shares messages through the corn, Nately shares music with Lucinda. She depends on him to meet her two weeks from today and give her music. Lucinda depends on Nately in the same way that all the corn stalks in the field depend on the other corn stalks to grow tall and mature. The corn in the field that George observes and the set times where Nately gives Lucinda music represent the fulfillment that comes from being able to rely on others. George s desire to disconnect from his past and Lucinda s desire to connect to her past represent the struggles of remembrance. George grew up in Winesburg and he still lives there now. George does not want to reside in Winesburg anymore, He was about to leave Winesburg to go away to some city where he hoped to get work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Online Discussion Of Online Education Introduction While attending the 2011 Central Division APA conference, I found myself engaged in several casual discussions with colleagues. If it was mentioned that I was going to be taking part in the Committee for Computers and Philosophy s discussion of online education in philosophy, there would sometimes come a rather curious moment in the conversation. I began to think of it as the microwave question moment. Many years ago, when microwave ovens first were advertised, there was a rather clever ad depicting a salesperson standing in front of a crowd of people, going on and on about all the wonderful advantages of microwave cooking, until a deep voice from the back spoke up with: But does it brown the food? Online course delivery has become increasingly prevalent in higher education, and there is often great pressure on educators to deliver courses in this manner. There is, however, still quite a bit of skepticism from those who have not ventured into online teaching. They ask the educational equivalent of the microwave question. Can students learn well, online? Can you teach philosophy effectively, online? And finally, most importantly, does the online venue serve student interest? My answer is: Yes. It browns the food! Online content delivery, when done skillfully, has some great advantages for the student, and may be especially well suited for the teaching of philosophy. I began my teaching career in the traditional face to face classroom. I did not dip into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Meaning Of The Word Profession Across academia, scholars debate the meaning of the word profession. The term invokes many connotations and expectations, but few can agree on an actual meaning.1 Geoffrey Millerson, a prominent sociologist, defined profession as a type of higher grade, non manual occupation, with both subjectively and objectively recognized occupational status, possessing a well defined area of study or concern and providing a definite service, after advanced training and education. 2 According to Millerson s definition, the United States Armyis in fact a profession. Millerson identifies the first component of a profession as higher grade, non manual occupation . Many academics agree that a key component of a profession is specialized skill based on a body of knowledge.3 Initially, many will contend that the U.S. Army does not pass the first requirement. Soldiers work long and hard often completing tasks requiring physical strength and endurance. At first glance, the composition and mission of the military undermines the definition of a profession. Obviously, the military relies on a certain amount of physical labor to complete its mission. However, the military is also composed of personnel who manage and direct the employment of assets to strategically, operationally, or tactically defeat the enemy. The knowledge required to employ those capabilities offsets the physical labor necessary to accomplish the task. The army requires officers to be educated and to fulfill ... • 15. Policinging, Police, Corruption, And Police Use Of Force This paper addresses four problems that policing faces in the United States. The problems that will be covered throughout the paper are: police discretion, race and policing, police corruption, and police use of force. Throughout the paper, I will provide an understanding for each problem, discuss some issues of each, and provide some suggestions of how these problems should be addressed. I will provide some examples of each problem. This semester we covered many topics related to policing and these four topics are of interest to me. The first pressing problem that I will be discussing is police discretion. Police discretion is defined as the decision an officer makes if they want to proceed with a police matter or give someone a warning. Mastrofski (2004) described discretion as officers having freedom with choosing different options of performing their daily duties. Officers are expected to go out on the street and respectfully do their jobs. Police officers are trained on when to use police discretion. Officers use discretion in the cases of domestic violence disputes, traffic violations, hate crimes, and mentally ill individuals. An officer will use their discretion to make an arrest. For example, depending on the appearance of the victim the officer will make the choice of arresting the perpetrator or leaving the situation alone. Discretion will take place when an arresting officer must decide on what type of charges to file against a person who was arrested (Walker, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Essay on Monetary Policy Introduction Monetary policy is among the many tools used by a national government to manipulate its financial system. Monetary policy refers to the method used by the financial authority of any country to control the supply and availability of money (Woelfel, 1994). It is often targeted at interest rates to achieve lay down objectives directed towards economic growth and stability (Woelfel, 1994). Monetary policy rests on the link between interest rates in an economy, that is, the relationship between interest rates and the total money supply. It employs a variety of methods to control outcomes like inflation, economic growth, currency exchange rates and unemployment. Monetary policy can either be expansionary policy in which case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these approaches is quantitative easing (QE). Quantitative easing is a technique used by central banks to boost money supply in an economy when interest rates are close to or at zero thus cannot be reduced further (Woelfel, 1994). To increase the supply of money under such conditions, the central bank may be forced to buy government assets/securities like government bonds, mortgage backed securities or government debt from banks thus increase their surplus revenue hence raise or stabilize prices of such securities and consequently reduce interest rates in the long term. With this insight in mind, the remaining part of this essay seeks to critically examine the methods of implementing monetary policy when interest rates are close to or at zero. Monetary Policy Options at the Zero Bound Interest rates have the lowest bound at zero mark. When this limit is reached, serious problems occur in designing appropriate monetary policy approaches since interest rates can never be set below this mark. Countries like Japan, United States and Switzerland have faced this challenge in the recent past thus calling for alternative approaches to monetary policy when the nominal interestrate is close or at zero. Conventional monetary policy methods are always channeled towards lowering interest rates to stabilize inflation and other outputs. This is however impossible in situations whereby the interest rates are already close to or zero calling for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have a healthy, capable body that allows me to do pretty much whatever I want. What stood out to me the most of Travis presentation was his positive attitude. Pivotal Dichotomy The Pivotal Dichotomies of Science and Religion Science can help identify and elaborate upon the laws of nature, help humans ascertain an improved understanding of the universe, and enable people to acquire powerful thinking skills to generate innovative and beneficial ideas. However, in the recent centuries many scholars have addressed the numerous conflicts that have emerged between the fields of science and religion. Many philosophers have contemplated and debated the relationship between science and religion. While both science and religion ask and answer questions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Religion often concentrates its arguments on the actual creator or god of the universe. For instance, religions often assert that God is a being with intelligence, will, desires, and dislikes. Religions in turn have a propensity to focus on the desires of the creator, the codes of behavior that God expects humans to exhibit, rewards the creator bestows upon those who obey these requirements, and the punishments God inflicts upon transgressors who violate the requirements. Religion also emphasizes the specific manners by which God created the universe, as in Genesis, established by the Ancient Israelites and promoted by modern Christians. Rather than focusing on the actual creation or universe, religions tend to focus on the creator and the concepts of God that are expressed and maintained in the religious doctrine. In contrast, science tends to refrain from generating assertions regarding the creator and instead focuses entirely on the actual creation. Science primarily addresses many different aspects of the creation, including the beginnings of the universe, the matter and features of the world, how stars and galaxies formed, how planets were established, how our planet generates life, and how life functions and develops on Earth. Within this case, I have found many legal issues that must be tackled or understood for the business to run legally and smoothly. The first issue found in the case is based around the logo that has been created by Paul for their business. First, we have to ask if Paul has checked his logo; which can also be known as a trademark , against New Zealand s list of registered trademarks and if their chosen trademark (name, brand, logo) is the same or similar to any others registered companies. Secondly, we would need to see if Paul plans to register the company. Paul could decide not to register the company but still successfully use their unregistered trademark due to S9 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA), yet a registered trademark offer s the company better protection and it is strongly advised that companies register their trade mark under the Trade Mark Act 2002 (TMA). • 38. Legalizing Abortion Legalizing Abortion As the rate of abortion has rapidly increased for past several years, it has been an issue that everyone has thought about it at least once. Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and most defenseless among us. There can be plausible reasons that they support abortion. However, I oppose to legalize abortion because not only that parents should accept the responsibility that comes with producing a child, but also it is highly risky for women both physically and mentally and the fact that it is undeniably a murder. Firstly, people need to take responsibility for their actions and accept the consequences. Unwanted pregnancy is often caused by the sexual intercourse for pleasure. We already have learned that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we legalize the abortion, the pain of unborn human beings will be unstoppable in the end. Some people would say that when the baby is fertilized by a rape, it would be a horrible for the women. However, in that case, there are a lot of caring systems where professionals give women comfort and get psychological treatment. Also, the baby can be adopted by someone who really wants adoption. By that, the women can at least get rid of the stress of raising kid. I strongly oppose abortion, it should not be taken lightly; as one of the solutions, more of education has to be done for all of the young adults which can teach responsibility of their actions. In addition, a lot of dangerous factors caused on women are very disastrous, which can cause infertility for the whole life or even death. The gravity of death of women is not light. Two significant factors affected the post merger company. One, the dot com burst meant adverse effect on AOL s advertising revenues. And two, dial up subscribers decreased thereby affecting revenues and overall profitability of AOL. A key element in the turnaround strategy should be to offer free content on its portal. This strategy will benefit AOL in attracting more online users and advertising revenues. When AOL began operations it soon became the leading company for pay online subscriber service, bringing easy to use Internet service to more than 30 million users. AOL was mainly based on around its dial up business. With customers shifting to broadband, AOL was losing subscribers rapidly. The dial up segment though profitable, was declining in revenues having lost 2.6 million subscribers in a period of one year. The share price of AOL Time Warner fell by 60% after the merger. The merger was heavily criticized from all quarters. Growth in advertising business came with AOL establishing itself as a support service rather than an internet access provider. Adrenal cortex, a part of the adrenal gland, is where most of the adrenal tumors develop. Adrenal cortex tumors can have either benign or cancerous properties. Usually patients accidentally come across diagnostics of the disease. For example, a change in female hormone levels can be a good indicator for whether a person has an adrenal tumor. Different tests are usually performed to quantify the levels of cortisol, such as treating patients with dexamethasone. Dexamethasone acts like cortisol for the patient s body. Upon delivery to a patient who does not have adrenal tumor, the production of the cortisol will decrease. On the other hand if a patient has an adrenal tumor, then hormone levels will stay high even after receiving dexamethasone. Another test that one can perform to measure the effect of an adrenal tumor is performing an ACTH test, which measures the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the blood. ACTH is a hormone that is produced from the pituitary gland in the brain. Thus by performing the test one can get information about its concentration in the serum. Usually if adrenal mass is influencing the corticosteroid levels the test will show a higher level of cortisol while giving a lower level of ACTH levels. Another diagnostic method to diagnose adrenal tumors is cortisol saliva testing. In this test, the amount of cortisol in the saliva at or near midnight is normally very low. Multiple repeats of the test to confirm elevated cortisol levels can diagnose Cushing s syndrome. Cushing s syndrome is excess cortisol levels, possibly due to the body secreting too much ... • 44. Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process 2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by Tomas Saaty. AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is used when the problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity occurs because of the effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The Analytic Network Process is a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach comprises four steps [87]: Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and decomposed into a rational system like a network Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition, interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are determined with Saaty s scale. Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are entered in the appropriate columns of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stages Of Acute Cutaneous Wound Healing The stages of acute cutaneous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic patients The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory cells, platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore a semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The Cellular Biology of Wound Healing2016) Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a maturation phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and forth throughout the stages. After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3 days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. There then comes a rapid release of preformed inflammatory mediators from the cells surrounding the injury, the first thing this causes is the aggregation of platelets, these platelets adhere to extracellular surface structures which are exposed, such as collagen and basement membranes, this in turn causes serotonin from platelet stores to be stimulated. Starting in 1845 the Irish lost their main crop due to an unknown fungus then got uprooted to immigrate or died of disease. The Irish came to America searching for the American dream but only found hostility and unacceptance. This paper will cover troubles through the potatofamine, the journey here and even how they were treated when they got to America. The potato blight, most known as the Irish potato famine, caused death and despair. The famine was the main reason the Irish left to immigrate to the United States. Death rates began to rise because of the starvation and diseases such as, cholera, measles and fever, caused by the lack of Ireland s main food supply and crop. According to Donnelly, Overall excess morality from 1846 51 amounted to 1,082,000 people (171). Typhus and relapsing fever were the worst killers and those led into dysentery and diarrhoea. However, any of the Irish fell into poverty because of the famine and diseases attracted to the poor. In Zimbabwe a child from the working class goes to an overcrowded school where the student is forced to do hot sitting because the school infrastructure cannot accommodate them all at once in the morning. The small child gets to school tired and cannot even concentrate in class because of fatigue. Another challenge is also student teacher ratio where the teacher s attention is focused more on the brighter students than on slow learners. On the other hand because their parents mix with colleagues of equal status like garden boys and factory workers, it also follows that they can also link up jobs for their children with people of equal status. This becomes a limiting factor for working class children s chances in life. Mostly they are forced to take up menial jobs and less paying jobs despite good academic qualifications. In a matter of a minute the police are able to determine if the suspect is lying and guilty or, on the rare occasion, telling the truth and innocent. But, one has to wonder, is it really that simple? Polygraphs measure four main factors that are thought to change when a lie is told and more importantly, it is assumed that these changes indicate deception. The four main factors are blood pressure, heart beat, perspiration, and breathing and these are recorded by using simple devices. Around World War One (WWI) he experimented with a device that measured the rate and depth of breathing and based on these experiments he concluded that this device could be used to gauge deception (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). The United States government put these ideas of deception testing to work during WWI when they measured the blood pressure of prisoners of war during questioning. The first real big development towards the modern polygraph detector was in 1921 when Dr. John A. Larson invented an instrument that made the first permanent record of blood pressure, pulse, and respiration (The History and Basic Facts of Polygraph, 2009). Despite all the contributions from various people, the father of the polygraph is considered to be Leonard Keeler. While reading the play it is difficult to find empathy in my heart for Antony and Cleopatra s demise. The way I read the play made me feel second hand embarrassment for the way they handled their relationship and Antony was all the more worse with his continued infidelity and immature actions. However, watching the play in the intimate setting of the Round at the Folger Theater allowed the audience to have a more intimate connection with the actors and better identify with the characters actions. The director took care to light the mood of certain scenes accurately which effectively warmed and cooled the audience down in a way the director wanted the audience to feel. The director also made several casting decisions that really pushed the interpretation of the play he wanted to exhibit. The technical production of the performance including lighting and sound paired with the casting decisions made by the director help display the director s angle of one of Shakespeare s most famous plays: to bridge the gap between Egypt and Rome, where the audience is able to gain an understanding of the characters is ways they have never been able to before because of the way their emotions and actions change on a whim.
