1. I’ve had a Twitter account since my freshman year of college.
When I first started, I only followed friends and celebrities. It wasn’t
until I took this class that I realized that Twitter could be used for
educational resources as well. Out of the educators I was introduced to
in the video, I decided to follow Kyle Pace, Eric Sheninger, Steven
Anderson, and Shannon Smith.
Kyle Pace is super consistent with his tweets. I noticed he tweets
at least 10 times a day and always posts helpful links for educators. One
of my favorite things he tweeted was a link that showed you 10 ways to
use Google Tools to maximize learning. This article shows educators
how to introduce your students to Google Docs, Google Dictionary, and
even an image dictionary. This could be helpful for research or group
projects. Shannon Smith also posted a similar link to her twitter page.
Shannon posted a link that gives educators 5 innovative mind mapping
websites to use in the classroom. These, along with the Google Tools
that Kyle Pace posted, could all be used in conjunction for group
projects in the classroom.
Eric Sheninger seems to be all about social media in schools. One
tweet he posted was a link to a page entitled “What if Schools Embraced
the Power of Twitter”. Highlighting all of the positives about Twitter in
Schools and how it should be embraced instead of looked down upon.
Another educational tweeter, Steven Anderson, is also pro-social media
in schools. One tweet that captured my attention that Steven posted was
a link to an article called “Social Media Guidelines for Your School”. This
I feel like can be very informational to all educators around the world.
After all, the times are changing and social media is a part of life now. Its
about time we bring that part of life to the educational setting.
Last but certainly not least, we have the CI350 class Twitter
account. I really enjoyed reading through the Top 100 Education Blogs
tweet and feel like it will be very informational in the future. This being
said, I definitely “favorited” this tweet so I could easily pull it back up in
the future.
