1. @CI350class
- I really enjoyed following CI350class on Twitter because of all the resources that I could
find. It offered a lot of links to websites that highlighted strategies to keep students
engaged, how to use technology in the classroom effectively, and ideas of apps a teacher
can put on iPads to enhance learning. The one link I liked the most was for tips and ideas
to use with sixth grade. I’m not sure if I’ll ever teach sixth grade, but a lot of the tips and
strategies could be applied to any grade level. I struggle with thinking of ways to use
technology in the classroom and how to integrate them, so following this account gave
me so many ideas that I can use in my future classroom.
@d_martin05
- D Martin is a math teacher and speaks about different things related to math. I chose to
follow him because I live math and I eventually want to teach math. I love his enthusiasm
for math and I hope that I can have that same enthusiasm when I am a teacher, no matter
what I teach. One thing that I really liked about following this account is all of the quotes
he would give about teaching in general. They had a lot of meaning behind them and
made me think about my role as a teacher and teaching in general. For example, he
tweeted, “Technology should not be used to replicate the past quicker, but to truly
redefine learning.” This made me think about why it is so important to use technology in
the classroom. Today, kids are using so much technology and they can learn so much
from it, so why are we failing them by not integrating it in our teaching? I want to be the
best teacher possible and having D Martin’s positive and encouraging tweets is a really
great way to stay enthusiastic.
@shannoninottawa
- I chose to follow Shannon Smith because she is a principal and also works in Canada. I
thought it would be interesting to follow someone who isn’t a teacher and her being in a
different country would possibly bring new ideas that we have never thought of here. She
provided many links that I found very interesting. One in particular was about why
failure is important for students to success. It really made me think about the issue.
Sometimes teachers want to give their students all of the answers and not make them
think. However, I want to be the type of teacher that allows students to try to figure it out
on their own and fail before giving them the answer. Many of her posts made me think
about my future as a teacher and made me think about how to be a better one.
@kylepace
- I followed Kyle Pace because I wanted to see more in-depth things from an instructional
technology specialist. His Twitter account had many different ideas about how to use
technology in the classroom effectively. He gave many links to websites that provided
many different technology outlets that can enhance learning and student growth. He
posted an interesting link to an article about cell phone use in the classroom. It stated that
many people see cell phone use as a problem, but past generations did the same thing, but
2. through other forms such as doodling, or daydreaming. The same problem still exists, but
through a different outlet. He posted so many links to articles that really made me think
about technology in the classroom and how to use it effectively. With the help of Pace’s
account, I will be able to come up with ways to use technology in my future classroom.
