Essay On Post Test
Pretest, Posttest, Interview Questions:
The pre test (Show What You Know) and post test (Show What You Have Learned) that I designed had
similar questions to what the students were going to see within the lesson. When giving them the pre test a
few students got neverous but I assured them that this is for my own information so I can better teach
everyone. I told them to all at least try and answer the questions to the best of their ability. Both the pre test
and post test are attached at the end of the lesson. The following are the results of the pre test and post test.
Students coded in green increased from pre to post test, students in yellow remained the same, students in
red lost points from pre to post test. The two students with an asterisk are the interviewed students.
After careful consideration and a conversation with my host teacher, I chose to interview Z.D. as my student
at a higher mathematical level and D. W. as my student at a lower mathematical level. Although, Z. D. s
score went down from the pre test to the post test, his work showed that his mathematical understanding
increased due to the lesson. He only lost points on providing his answers in simplest form, meaning he needs
practice on reducing fractions. I chose D.W. because he is struggling in the class but did show improvement
from pre to post test. It is important to note that D.W. is currently being tested for special education after
being in tier three instruction for math and having been

The CDC points out that 45 to 50 U.S. states have required the vaccine for children entering school. This is
to maximize the prevention of the illness (www.livestrong.com).
In order to maximize and outbreak of chickenpox they introduce the chicken pox vaccine that you take in
one dosage to maximize the outbreak but outbreaks still occur in school setting where most children only
receive one dosage but there have been fewer outbreak since the two dosage program was started in the
United State (www.CDC.gov). Varicella (chickenpox) is a highly contagious disease that is very
uncomfortable and sometimes serious. The chickenpox vaccine is the best protection against chickenpox.
The vaccine is made from weakened varicella virus that produces an immune response in your body that
protects you against chickenpox. The chicken pox virus was licensed for use in the United State in 1995.
Since then, the vaccine has been widely used. Thanks to the chickenpox vaccine, the

Analysis Of Walden By Henry David Thoreau
Walden, a series of 18 essays by Henry David Thoreau published in 1854, is a record of Thoreau s
experiment in simple living on the northern shore of Walden Pond, Massachusetts. Industrial progress is a
theme that Thoreau experiences while at Walden Pond. Even though Thoreau makes some elaborate claims
as to why industrial progress is destructive, the exact opposite is true; as such advancement does much to
benefit the relationships, economy and safety of any society. Thoreau s overall philosophy condemns
industrial progress. Thoreau believed that simplicity is good for the soul and material possessions and
money can become one s god. (www.walden.org) Henry D. Thoreau was born to John and Cynthia Thoreau

Thoreau is buried near the graves of his friends Hawthorne, Alcott, Emerson and Channing. Ralph Waldo
Emerson wrote in his eulogy; The country knows not yet, or in the least part, how great a son it has lost...His
soul was made for the noblest society; he had in a short life exhausted the capabilities of this world;
wherever there is knowledge, wherever there is virtue, wherever there is beauty, he will find a home.
(Library of Harvard University) Thoreau, fascinated by technology, saw a series of inventions that would
radically change the world. In the mid nineteenth century he saw the invention of the power loom, railroad
and the telegraph, the industrial revolution. In Thoreau s view, technology provoked an excitement that was
counterproductive because it served as a distraction from the important questions of life. Perhaps we are led
oftener by the love of novelty, and a regard for the opinions of men, in procuring it, than by a true utility.
(Walden, 21). Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distracted our attention from serious things.
They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at;
as railroads lead to Boston or New York. We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine
to Texas; but Maine and Texas; it may be, have nothing important to communicate. (Thoreau Walden, 52)

Summary Of The R. J Reynolds Tobacco Company s Advertising...
Today in American society the social normality of smoking cigarettes is in a rapid decline. It seems with
each passing year there are increasing numbers of legislation restricting where people can place
advertisement and where smoking is even permitted. Smoking cigarettes for many years was a focal point in
American culture projecting the image of this prosperous social status obtainable for everyone. R.J.
Reynolds Tobacco Company, the creators of the Newport Pleasure! Advertisement heavily takes this
progressive movement into consideration when creating the illusion that smoking is socially accepted. The
R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company s advertising campaign connects the use of logos and pathos extremely and
effectively displaying their message. In order to recreate the social normality of smoking advertisers select a
wide range of healthy socially active youth, place a campaign slogan that their consumers are unable to
miss, and heavily doctor the focal elements of this advertisement. A consumer viewing this advertisement is

The logical inference made in the human brain when reading Newport Pleasure! , an exclaimed expression,
leaves the impression that pleasure is attained through use of a Newport cigarette. This heavy word play
used to entice consumers completely disregards the consequences associated with smoking that certainly are
not pleasurable. The effects of smoking like a bright shiny yellow smile and a pungent lingering odor that
perforates from consumers skin are actually quite unpleasant. The enticing campaign rhetoric pushes this
false reality solely for the purpose of recapturing the once highly aspired social status behind smoking in

Statement Of Purpose Of The Naval Academy
The most difficult question every teenager gets asked is, What do you plan on doing after High School? I
always said, I want to see the world! I want to be successful in whatever career I choose. When I
contemplate why I say this, I come to realize that I live for the challenges in life. I live to experience the
entire world and to leave a legacy behind. A legacy that would be remembered for generations. When I was
a young child, I heard of the US Navy and the Naval Academy from all the intriguing stories my grandfather
used to tell me. He gave in depth descriptions of the images he saw in the service. The sunrises that he
experienced on the edge of the Cua Viet River when assigned to Assault Craft Unit One. He describes the
sounds of gunfire zooming past his head and the birds chirping every morning. Since I heard these
experience s, I have been inspired to attend an academy and allow it to give me the chance to create my own
stories and experiences. The Naval Academy sparked a strong interest in me because it can give me an
opportunity to face experiences in a new perspective and start to develope my own novels and tales. The life

Islamic Art And Hinduism Art
Every religion in this world has their own culture and thereby their own creative forms, like art, dance,
architecture, music and craft. Like the tradition varies from each religion to religion so as their Art. I chose
to compare Art forms of Islamic Art and Hinduism Art, as Art have always exited me and inspired me in
many ideas, and secondly arts have its own history and reasoning.
Islamic Art
Islamic craftsmanship contrasts, thusly, from such other terms as Buddhist, Christian or Hindu
workmanship, for it alludes not just to expressions of the human experience delivered by or for the religion
of Islam yet to human expressions of every single Islamic society. Islamic workmanship was not so much
made by or for Muslims, for some Islamic craftsmanship was made by Christian, Jewish, or even Hindu
craftsmen working for Muslim supporters, and some Islamic workmanship was made for non Muslim
benefactors. The term does not allude to a specific style or period, however covers an expansive domain,
including human expressions delivered more than one fifth of the globe in the conventional heartland of
Islam amid the last fourteen hundred years.
Islamic craftsmanship incorporates the visual expressions delivered from the 7th century onwards by
individuals who lived inside the region that was possessed by or governed by socially Islamic populations. It
is along these lines an exceptionally troublesome workmanship to characterize in light of the fact that it

Thirty-Eight-Year-Old Hildegard s Role In The Reformation
In 1136, thirty eight year old Hildegard was passed the role of abbess after the death of Jutta in her forty
fifth year. It was during her year as an abbess that she decided to share her visions with the world. Each time
Hildegard had a vision she became more ill, therefore, she believed keeping these visions to herself and not
sharing them had made her more ill. As a young woman, she had a stormy prophetic vision, which she
described as fiery light.
I saw an extremely strong, sparkling, fiery light coming from the open heavens. It pierced my brain, my
heart and my breasts through and through like a flame which did not burn; however, it warmed me. It heated
me up very much like the sun warns an object on which it is pouring out rays. ... Show more content on

She painted it and set it to music, which is why she speaks about her paintings, visions, and mandalas as
illuminations. In Hildegard s teachings, she teaches about the Cosmic Christ and the image of God in all
things. She teaches about the workings of the physical environment as a hidden meaning of the principles of
God. Hildegard s role in the Reformation is one that is compared to the prophets of the Old Testament. She
speaks for God by transmitting only the words that she has received from he himself. There are two central
themes that continue to reoccur within Hildegard s visions, they are the work (opus) and the word (verbum).
Through her visions Hildegard structures the teachings of the cosmos, which is the idea that nature
mysteriously affects the course taken by the world, which is its history. Through visions Hildegard saw and
felt the divine qualities of everything in her natural environment. She felt God s spiritual characteristics in
fire and water, clouds and streams, the sun and stars, winds and storms, the moon and the night, a spring, a
meadow, and the flowers. To people today, Hildegard s visions would be considered abnormal, but to those
that lived through the Middle Ages, Hildegard s visions

Identify and explain at least three legal considerations
When considering the legalities of this scenario, negligence, vicarious liability, and physician patient
relationship are a few components that affect the outcome of a lawsuit. The amount of legal torts that were
violated in this case was enough to cause disputes between patients and healthcare staff. Negligence is a
familiar tort that occurs much more than it needs too. Unfortunately in this case, vicarious liability and

Though it may not be a legal commitment, but days when an emergency situation is at hand healthcare staff
should make use of good ethical practice and be present for work.
Administering the wrong prescription for a patient can be viewed as a negligent act as well as a bad ethical
decision. As much as this act leans more towards negligence, it is only right to assume the existence of poor
ethical standards. If nurse maintained a high standard and value towards occupation, the right medication
would have been giving to the patient.
Identify and explain at least three professional considerations The three professional considerations that
pertain to this case are similar to the ethical considerations. It was unprofessional for the nurses to call off,
leave patients un attended, and also breaking the patient legal duty to provide proper service to patients.
According to (makely), enhancing professionalism has become a major challenge for healthcare educators,
employers, and personnel (2009).
As a healthcare professional, the nurses in this case don t necessarily lack skills of being nurses but simply
lack the attitude of a professional. In situations similar to this case, nurses should have been more concerned
with the patients and should have made it an obligation to be present for work. Leaving patients unattended

What It Takes To Follow Jesus Christ
How can I follow Christ? A question asked often. Since the time of Jesus, people have been drawn to him.
These people glare at scripture for direction. Often, they become misguided and will abandon scripture s
special revelation. This exegetical paper will discover the constant power of scripture. The saying of Jesus
within Matthew 16:24 28 will be studied. The literary and historical contexts of the passage will be deduced.
Finally, exegesis on all five verses will be done. How does one follow Christ? Will the literary context of
this passage affect its interpretation? These questions and more will be answered below.

A heavy weight on the end times for those struggling to cope with the loss of their great temple would be
logical.
Jesus commands whoever follows him to deny himself and take up his cross and follow me (him). The
disciples would have likely been familiar with the imagery take up his cross would have implied.
Traditionally, crucifixion was a favored Roman torture and execution method from the time of Alexander the
Great to Constantine. After extensive flogging, the convicted person would be forced to carry his own cross
crossbar. The patibulum (crossbar), weighing around one hundred pounds, was tied to the convict s
outstretched arms as he made his way to his own execution. This would obviously be an excruciatingly
painful task. This is most certainly the image the disciples thought of when Jesus was speaking to them.
Exegesis
Since the literary and historical contexts of this passage have already been taken into account, a proper
exegesis of Matthew 16:24 28 can be done. In the process, certain questions about the passage will be
answered. What does it mean for someone to be repaid according to what he has done? How does this
passage contribute to eschatological studies? How do the subtle nuances of this passage affect the meaning?
What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?

Reducing Toxic Emissions with a Catalytic Converter
Figure 1 shows an image of a three way catalytic converter block diagram that is comprised of two types of
catalysts. Whereby these catalysts don t take place in any reactions happening but only triggers them. The
diagram shows how less harmful gases are produced to the atmosphere by the reduction catalyst and
oxidation catalyst.
The three way catalytic converter uses two stages to accomplish the process of reducing toxic emissions, the
first stage takes place on the reduction catalyst. The second stage of the process happens on the oxidation
catalyst. Platinum and rhodium are the metals used for the reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst uses
platinum and palladium. The use of rhodium is very important because it enhances the purification of the
gases to be emitted since palladium does not perform well in the purification process.
Automobile converters reheat the gases (Nitrogen gas, Carbon Dioxide, Hydro carbons, Water vapor,
Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon monoxide) that are already heated by the vehicle s exhaust at about 350°C and
650°C. A ceramic honey comb structure is used for both catalysts; this can be seen in Figure 2. The main
reason for specifically using ceramic honey combs is because it increases the surface area, so that when a
thin coating of the platinum group metals is used it can spread on a large area. Another reason is to make
sure that pressure gradients are reduced and therefore the area of the honey comb be compacted.
The first stage of Figure 1

80s Research Paper
Hey guys, Sophie Jeffrey here for Channel [V]. Welcome back to another segment of Songs of My
Generation . This week we ll take a look back at the totally tubular 80s. The 80s was full of many things:
Rubik s Cubes, Wrestling, Pac Man, Lip Smackers, Nintendo, skateboarding, roller skating, Horror films,
the BratPack, connect four, Tupperware parties, pop rocks, Weird Al Yankovic, who s currently making a
comeback FYI... and the list goes on! Horror films made their way onto the scene in the 80s with thousands
flocking to movie theatres to see the latest scary flick. The 80 s are to thank for some of the popular fashion
trends we still see today: RayBans, Doc Martens, bright colours and denim jackets, but while some of the
fashion trends found in the 80s soared, others, like leg warmers, spandex, shoulder pads, parachute pants,
mullets, perms, sweaters around the waist, big hair bows, all definitely proved that with the good always
comes the bad. This was a decade full of new and advancing technology: out with the old and in with the
new! The 80s said goodbye to cassette tapes and boom boxes and hello to compact discs and Sony Walkman
s, taking the first step in redefining the music industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, Rock and Roll, these were the
first words uttered on what was to become one of the most iconic and popular TV channels, MTV. It would

Charismatic Gifts Debate Essay
Charismatic Gifts Debate By Mark Jones Theo 350 B05 September 26, 2010 1 The Charismatic Gifts
Debate For my research paper I choose the charismatic gifts debate because coming from a
Pentecostal/Charismatic background growing up in church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in
a Charismatic church, I saw the gifts in action. There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for
today or have they ceased from the church. One side says that the gifts are in the past and is not relevant for
the day that we live in and another side says that the gifts are still relevant for today. There is one group that
says that if you do speak in tongues, then you are under demonic control and are not really saved. Both ...

Again we need to look at how the Bible uses these words. In John 17:3 it says that This is eternal life that
they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. (New American Standard
Bible, 1995 revised). In that verse it talks about how having eternal life is to also knowing God. Also only
the believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever is not known by Jesus
(Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a
kind of salvation knowing, it is a kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. He knows them and
knows that they are saved. The unbelievers are not known and therefore are not saved. It would seem to be
consistent with scripture to say that ...as I m fully known would refer to salvation relationship between the
Christians and Jesus Christ. When the return of Christ comes, we as Christians will see him face to face.
Another argument is that present day tongues are further revelation and then must be equal to scripture and
ought to be included into the Bible. But since the Bible has nothing to add to it, the gift of tongues must no
longer be valid. The problem with this argument is that faulty because recognizes revelation that cannot be
added into the Bible. 1 Cor. 14:26 talks about the church in Corinth were revelations were revealed that were
not included in the Bible. In this verse it

Martin Luther And John Calvin Essay
The Renaissance was a time where individuals questioned numerous aspects of European culture and
society, which have collectively broadened the worldview from medieval to modern. As such, a new wave of
theological thinking emerged from the dissent of the late Medieval church, and this is commonly known as
the Reformation. Martin Luther is often credited as the Great Man whose Ninety Five Thesis a provocative
set of questions targeting the Church set in motion the pivotal process of religious change, known as
Protestantism. The radical change from medieval Christianity to modern Christianity is often confined to the
ideas of two important men: Martin Luther and John Calvin. It is also important to note the vastness of time
that the Renaissance dominated compared to the short period within 1517 to 1559 that these two reformers
lived. Yet without them, without the challenging and convincing religious arguments and questions they put
forward justification by faith alone, the doctrine of double predestination the religious change as seen in the
sixteenth century, as well as even the name of the movement could ve been very different.
In the year 1509, the year in which John Calvin was born, Martin Luther had already begun spreading his
teachings. By the age of eight, Martin Luther had publicized his Ninety Five Thesis and the German
Reformation had already seen the culmination of Luther s teachers and influence. During the time of Calvin
s first published book, Luther

Salt Lake City Urban Planning
Economic development planning has increasingly become vital to the health of local economies in the
globalized economy. Local officials are tasked with balancing present day issues surrounding local
economies, as well as attempting to project where the local, state, regional, national and world economies
may be headed and what industries will see growth or decline. Economic development planners, must also
be aware of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of the city or state they represent.

In class, we have discussed the challenges that are faced by economic development planners. SWOT

planners must be aware of what skills and education local citizens have so that sustained development can
occur without wasting tax payer funds. In the case of Salt Lake City, planners have ben able to leverage the
skilled workforce being educated at institutions like Brigham Young University (BYU) and the University of
Utah, to attract high tech jobs. While the federal government has abandoned federal economic development
programs, it is still an essential element for states and cities who wish to see continued health and

While I do agree that patients trusting the Internet more than their doctors is a very real and troubling
problem, the article Why you trust the internet more than your doctor raises a few questions for me. First,
the credibility of the author is concerning, as his only identifier is the Twitter handle DocBastard. Upon
investigating further, DocBastard maintains a blog titled Stories from the trauma bay, with a profile that does
not provide any specifics on where he attended university or medical school, or any education for that
matter. Plus, considering that the description of his blog is stories about general surgery, trauma surgery,
dumb patients, dumb doctors, and dumb shit from the dumb world around us, I am not sure how much I can
trust this writer. I think DocBastard s intended audience was the general public, with the assumption that
most people have little scientific knowledge or a scientific mindset. His article was a call to action to this
audience, a plea to rely on experts who spent years in medical school instead of a quick Internet search.
However, I do not think the author s intended audience would be swayed to change their ways after reading
this article. The writing style of this article was highly redundant, as he kept repeating the phrase I get it
exasperatedly. While a person with a scientific mindset would find this article reasonable and even
humorous at points, the general public would be put off by the article s highly cynical tone. All the points
the author makes are not convincing enough; his piece reads more like a rant than a persuasive paper, thus
eliminating his intended purpose to convince his readers to trust doctors. If doctors want patients to trust

(Boyd, 2000) Another trend is the growing demand for scrap metal. In 1994 prices jumped from 50 170$ per
ton with 10 percent of scrap metal being exported to offshore customers according to metalprices.com. Now
currently scrap metal is near $300/ton. This makes it more expensive for steel companies like Nucor to buy
back the steel and recycle it.
Other notable trends involve European production as well as new Antidumping rulings.
Industry Key success factors
To be successful in the steel industry a company must be very innovative and able to differentiate their
products from the next guy. Steel is steel and it is not important as to how it is packaged or how it looks but
whether it serves the customer s needs. In order to be successful production must be efficient, delivery must
be on time, and innovation is the key.
Competition
Being a steel manufacturer there is a lot of competition that Nucor faces. U.S. Steel and Alcoa are two large
competitors with similar financial figures and both are ranked between 100 and 200 on the Fortune 500
company list. Below are some financial ratio comparisons between Nucor and these top two competitors.

Theme Of Security In George Orwell s Oceania, Big Brother
Throughout the world technology has advanced so far that you could video call your family members that
are halfway across the globe. But the questions that juggle through some minds is Are our calls or messages
private?, or even Is someone listening to our conversation?. As technology has advanced, so has the
opportunity for the government to view upon us, and invade our privacy to keep an eye on us or view
criminals before any crime occurs. With this type of security involved people often wondered security or
privacy?. Well in the idea of security a book by George Orwell was written if we had taken the route of
security.
1984 by George Orwell depicts Oceania as bleak, low spirited society controlled by the government through
propaganda, history altering, and security. In Oceania, Big Brother uses any means to watch upon their
people and maintain the peace by the use of anything to remove any citizen that opposes Big Brother. Two
main ways of surveillance is the use of children spies who report on any adult committing ... Show more

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory National Service
The topic of mandatory national service has been around for years now, and there will always be arguments
on whether it should be enforced or not. Some may say that it takes away our freedom, but is it not what
gives us freedom in the first place? The United States military, national service, as well as community
service is based on volunteers. That is what makes this country great, but there are less volunteers as years
go by. Crime increases, streets are not safe anymore, Americans are oblivious to what is happening around
the world. There are so many opportunities to give back to the country, yet, not many care. Today s
generation is based on social trends, and self gratification. There is also the fact that many young people do
not know what to do with their life after high school, some continue to college or focus on work, others do
not work nor study. Therefore, all young men and women should be required to give two years to national
service because it can help solve problems as well as build the community back together.
Having mandatory national service implies that every young person between ages 18 through 25 will be
required to give back to the country through some type of national service. This includes the Military, Peace
Corps, AmeriCorps, and other nonprofit organizations. It does not necessarily involve preparing for combat,
nor risking a life, but helping those in need, making the world a better place by taking care of the
environment. Everyone should have the obligation to serve. John F. Kennedy ones said, A young man who
does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living.
Today s military rejects include tomorrows hard core unemployed. Meaning that national service is
something every citizen should be a part of. After all, it provides young adults with strength and pride of
their country, as well as training in the career they are leaning towards. (Kennedy)
Today s generation think it is okay to treat others with disrespect, and sadly many parents have no recourse
to that kind of behavior. These can be signs to lack of attention. Service activities can help with emotions
and behaviors, ensuring success in people s future. After high

The Base Erosion And Profit Shifting Action Plan
Introduction
As a summer intern in PricewaterhouseCoopers international tax group, OECD s new tax project, Base
Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS), has been a hot topic in our group as well as the company for a long
time, since the completion of all actions will take place very soon at the end of year 2015. Our international
team deals with lots of international corporations which typically have subsidiaries in multiple countries and
different elections for different tax purposes. Because majority of the countries in client s family trees are
participating countries in OECD s BEPS project, a close attention need to be raised on the issues, impacts
and solutions from the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Action Plan. Therefore, in this issue and solution
paper, I will primarily focus on my researches of issues and solutions related to the discussions about the
Base Erosion and Profit Shifting action plan, including its background, why the project is important, the goal
of the project, how does it affect tax rules, how does it affect companies, challenges for companies, threat to
privacy, solutions/how to prepare, and finally the conclusion of OECD s BEPS project.

ABSTRACT
Consumer segmentation in the wine industry takes on many forms: demographic, geographic, behavioral,
and others+ In the United States, one of the most promising new demographic segments is the
Millennial or Echo Boomer segment, which is being targeted by many consumer industries due to its size

personality; and ~4! behavioral, which is based on occasions, benefits, usage rate, readiness to purchase

In the wine industry, some of the most extensive research on market segmentation has come from Australia+
One of the premiere studies was that of McKinna, in which he focused on the geographic segment of
consumers in the South Australian wine industry, and then was able to divide this consumer grouping more
specifically into a psychographic segmentation based on five wine lifestyles ~ McKinna, 1986!+ This
research was further expanded upon and empirically validated by a cadre of other wine marketing
researchers ~ Bruwer, Li, Reid, 2001; Hall Winchester, 1999; Johnson, Ringham,
Jurd, 1991; Spawton, 1991a!+ The most recent empirical findings using this lifestyle segmentation suggest

What Does The Workmanship Warranty Mean? Replacing your roof is an expensive venture. Several parties
are involved in roof replacement: manufacturers, roofing contractors and dumpsters, among others. The
different parties offer warranties. Do you understand what that means? Let us focus on the workmanship

the manufacturer s warranty, provides your roof with coverage if improper installation causes any damage or

The Conch The Scar And The Beast Analysis
The Conch, the Scar, and the Beast On the forsaken island, there are no adults, no order, there is little hope,
and their society is destined to collapse. In William Golding s book, Lord of the Flies, a plane crashes in the
middle of a desolate island, leaving a metaphorical and literal scar causing haunting memories to come.
Ralph, the protagonist, finds a conch shell and calls all the other boys together, with the help of a new friend
called Piggy. While the boys start to go a bit savage, Piggy is trying to keep them grounded. Jack, the leader

The Values Of Michelangelo Buonarroti s Reputance
Reputation is an opinion about entity (a person, a social group, an organization), typically a result of social
evaluation on a set of criteria. Also, reputation may be considered as a component of identity as defined by
others [ ]. This essay will talk about a very famous Italian Renaissance artist, considering the circumstances
in which such artist had established his reputation. The essay intends to explain the values of the
Renaissance era and their qualities, and then to apply this knowledge specifically to the reputation of
Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet.

His work received traditional criticism as irreligious in terms of its emphasis on the naked human body;
since it is presented not as a religious figure but as a real human. His frescos and paintings contained many

immorality and obscenity. The extreme concern for preserving morals led the Cardinal to call for a campaign
to have the work removed or censored. Michelangelo was also criticized for his artistic choices, including
his emphasis on the physical rather than the spiritual element.
In many ways, the Michelangelo style was considered by others frivolous because instead of the focus on
religion or the social concerns, the subjects were often contemporaries exploring humanism which was not
accepted in Italy at that time. In fact, most of his paintings including David were considered antithetical to

Semantic Association Experiments
Discussion
The aim of this study was to demonstrate that with Semantic Association training, participants would rank
more word pairs correctly than participants who did not receive any training. There were five hypotheses in
this study. Firstly, it was predicted that the group who received Semantic Association training (experimental
group), would receive a higher, total score in the Ranking Pairs task, than the control group who did not
receive any training. This result was significant and did demonstrate that training did improve the way
people associated word pairs.
Secondly the prediction that the experimental group would gain more points in the non associated category
was significant, and demonstrated that after training, people tended not to incorrectly rank certain word
pairs, which were not semantically connected through a synonym. The predictions that the experimental
group would gain more points when ranking indirectly and directly associated word pairs were not
significant however. The final hypothesis was that the experimental group would rank ... Show more content

  • 2. Essay On Post Test Pretest, Posttest, Interview Questions: The pre test (Show What You Know) and post test (Show What You Have Learned) that I designed had similar questions to what the students were going to see within the lesson. When giving them the pre test a few students got neverous but I assured them that this is for my own information so I can better teach everyone. I told them to all at least try and answer the questions to the best of their ability. Both the pre test and post test are attached at the end of the lesson. The following are the results of the pre test and post test. Students coded in green increased from pre to post test, students in yellow remained the same, students in red lost points from pre to post test. The two students with an asterisk are the interviewed students. After careful consideration and a conversation with my host teacher, I chose to interview Z.D. as my student at a higher mathematical level and D. W. as my student at a lower mathematical level. Although, Z. D. s score went down from the pre test to the post test, his work showed that his mathematical understanding increased due to the lesson. He only lost points on providing his answers in simplest form, meaning he needs practice on reducing fractions. I chose D.W. because he is struggling in the class but did show improvement from pre to post test. It is important to note that D.W. is currently being tested for special education after being in tier three instruction for math and having been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Analysis Of Walden By Henry David Thoreau Walden, a series of 18 essays by Henry David Thoreau published in 1854, is a record of Thoreau s experiment in simple living on the northern shore of Walden Pond, Massachusetts. Industrial progress is a theme that Thoreau experiences while at Walden Pond. Even though Thoreau makes some elaborate claims as to why industrial progress is destructive, the exact opposite is true; as such advancement does much to benefit the relationships, economy and safety of any society. Thoreau s overall philosophy condemns industrial progress. Thoreau believed that simplicity is good for the soul and material possessions and money can become one s god. (www.walden.org) Henry D. Thoreau is buried near the graves of his friends Hawthorne, Alcott, Emerson and Channing. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his eulogy; The country knows not yet, or in the least part, how great a son it has lost...His soul was made for the noblest society; he had in a short life exhausted the capabilities of this world; wherever there is knowledge, wherever there is virtue, wherever there is beauty, he will find a home. (Library of Harvard University) Thoreau, fascinated by technology, saw a series of inventions that would radically change the world. In the mid nineteenth century he saw the invention of the power loom, railroad and the telegraph, the industrial revolution. In Thoreau s view, technology provoked an excitement that was counterproductive because it served as a distraction from the important questions of life. Perhaps we are led oftener by the love of novelty, and a regard for the opinions of men, in procuring it, than by a true utility. (Walden, 21). Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distracted our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at; as railroads lead to Boston or New York. We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas; but Maine and Texas; it may be, have nothing important to communicate. (Thoreau Walden, 52) The ... Traditionally, crucifixion was a favored Roman torture and execution method from the time of Alexander the Great to Constantine. After extensive flogging, the convicted person would be forced to carry his own cross crossbar. The patibulum (crossbar), weighing around one hundred pounds, was tied to the convict s outstretched arms as he made his way to his own execution. This would obviously be an excruciatingly painful task. This is most certainly the image the disciples thought of when Jesus was speaking to them. Whereby these catalysts don t take place in any reactions happening but only triggers them. The diagram shows how less harmful gases are produced to the atmosphere by the reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst. The three way catalytic converter uses two stages to accomplish the process of reducing toxic emissions, the first stage takes place on the reduction catalyst. The second stage of the process happens on the oxidation catalyst. Platinum and rhodium are the metals used for the reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst uses platinum and palladium. The use of rhodium is very important because it enhances the purification of the gases to be emitted since palladium does not perform well in the purification process. Automobile converters reheat the gases (Nitrogen gas, Carbon Dioxide, Hydro carbons, Water vapor, Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon monoxide) that are already heated by the vehicle s exhaust at about 350°C and 650°C. A ceramic honey comb structure is used for both catalysts; this can be seen in Figure 2. The main reason for specifically using ceramic honey combs is because it increases the surface area, so that when a thin coating of the platinum group metals is used it can spread on a large area. Another reason is to make sure that pressure gradients are reduced and therefore the area of the honey comb be compacted. The first stage of Figure 1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also only the believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever is not known by Jesus (Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a kind of salvation knowing, it is a kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. • 16. Martin Luther And John Calvin Essay The Renaissance was a time where individuals questioned numerous aspects of European culture and society, which have collectively broadened the worldview from medieval to modern. As such, a new wave of theological thinking emerged from the dissent of the late Medieval church, and this is commonly known as the Reformation. Martin Luther is often credited as the Great Man whose Ninety Five Thesis a provocative set of questions targeting the Church set in motion the pivotal process of religious change, known as Protestantism. The radical change from medieval Christianity to modern Christianity is often confined to the ideas of two important men: Martin Luther and John Calvin. It is also important to note the vastness of time that the Renaissance dominated compared to the short period within 1517 to 1559 that these two reformers lived. Yet without them, without the challenging and convincing religious arguments and questions they put forward justification by faith alone, the doctrine of double predestination the religious change as seen in the sixteenth century, as well as even the name of the movement could ve been very different. In the year 1509, the year in which John Calvin was born, Martin Luther had already begun spreading his teachings. Some may say that it takes away our freedom, but is it not what gives us freedom in the first place? The United States military, national service, as well as community service is based on volunteers. That is what makes this country great, but there are less volunteers as years go by. Crime increases, streets are not safe anymore, Americans are oblivious to what is happening around the world. There are so many opportunities to give back to the country, yet, not many care. Today s generation is based on social trends, and self gratification. There is also the fact that many young people do not know what to do with their life after high school, some continue to college or focus on work, others do not work nor study. Therefore, all young men and women should be required to give two years to national service because it can help solve problems as well as build the community back together. Having mandatory national service implies that every young person between ages 18 through 25 will be required to give back to the country through some type of national service. This includes the Military, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and other nonprofit organizations. It does not necessarily involve preparing for combat, nor risking a life, but helping those in need, making the world a better place by taking care of the environment. Everyone should have the obligation to serve. John F. Kennedy ones said, A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living. Today s military rejects include tomorrows hard core unemployed. Meaning that national service is something every citizen should be a part of. After all, it provides young adults with strength and pride of their country, as well as training in the career they are leaning towards.
