Unnatural Causes Summary
The opening statement in the documentary, Unnatural Causes , reads, Is inequality making us sick? .
The documentary Unnatural Causes focuses on the high rate of tuberculosis (TB) among the native
people of the Marshall Islands, which are located in the Pacific. The TB rate in the Marshall Islands is
23 times that of the United States. TB is very contagious and affects most people who come into
contact with it because it is an airborne illness. The common symptoms of TB are a chronic cough,
chills and fevers, and it can infect other internal organs. TB is an unevenly spread disease due to
structural violence and cultural arrangements present in today s society. These unnatural causes create
a social and medical barrier that makes TB more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, if tuberculosis is reexamined from the point of view of those living in poverty, a radically
different picture emerges (Farmer, 187). He describes that rates of TB have gone down in the United
States and other wealthy countries, and is then, considered a minimal affecting disease. However,
recent history shows that TB has been re introduced and spread back into the wealthier nations
especially in their poor communities, but these countries are considering this disease as new and
emerging. Farmer states, If certain populations have long been afflicted by these disorders, why are
diseases considered new or emerging? Is it simply because they have come to affect more visible read,
more valuable persons? (Farmer, 39). Many think that this illness is new because it is finding its way
back into the rich populations. Unfortunately, TB does not get a lot of attention, as Farmer states, it
would appear that diseases predominantly afflicting the poor are unlikely to garner funding for
research and drug development unless they begin to emerge into the consciousness and space of the
nonpoor (Farmer

Analysis Of Into The Wild By Chris Mccandless
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is about Chris McCandless who was a child born into a well off family
who fit into American society extremely well. After traveling south and receiving his college degree at
Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Chris had the sudden urge to leave everything behind and go on
the adventure of a lifetime. Following in the ideologies and footsteps of his idols Thoreau, Jack
London, and several others; Chris donated all of money to a charity that helps hungry children,
changed his name to Alex Supertramp, and headed West in his old yellow Datsun to escape the hassle
and expectations of society as it is today. He traveled to many places including Colorado, Mexico, The
Grand Canyon, Arizona, California, and South Dakota where he made a lasting impression on Wayne
Westerberg. Chris made huge impacts on several peoples lives along his journey, but always kept them
at arm s length and left before there was an unbreakable connection established. Instead he replaced
the joy that most people get from human interaction and replaced it with feelings of wonder and
exhilaration that pristine nature brought. He lived happily by never staying in one place for too long
and always having something new to explore, going against the modern day norms. Chris s ultimate
journey is to escape to the Alaska wilderness, where he eventually meets his demise by eating
poisonous seeds. It is thought that perhaps he had a change of heart towards modern day society in the

Multiple Birth Research Paper
Pregnancy is a new stage in a woman s life that can involve a number of complexities, which can
affect the mother or baby, or both. Multiple birth is a complexity of pregnancy that is becoming
increasingly more prevalent in today s society. The incidence of multiple birth has a great effect on the
mother and offspring, not only physically but also socially and emotionally. These effects include
emotional instability as a result of child maltreatment, the increased risk of congenital malformation
causing emotional and social problems and a wider social impact on the health care system.
A multiple birth occurs when a single pregnancy results in more than one foetus. Twins and triplets are
the most common forms of multiples. The rate of multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The incidence of congenital malformations in multiple births is up to 4 times higher than that of
singleton births (Menasinkai Chiniwar, 2013). Corsello and Giuffrè (2012) define congenital
malformations as single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts
identifiable at birth or during intrauterine life. The whole family and their quality of life are impacted
when a child is born with birth defects, particularly emotionally. Parents of children with congenital
malformations face a unique challenge in adjusting and learning to care for them appropriately. Post
diagnosis of congenital malformation, the parents often go through the typical stages of grief very
similar to if they had lost the child. This is recognized as a part of the process and it is normal for
parents to mourn the loss of what they expected to be a healthy child (Lemacks, Fowles, Mateus,
Thomas, 2013). The parent s emotional and mental health can be adversely impacted and as a result
suffer depression and anxiety, which can have a devastating effect on the entire family (Song et all.,
2012). Siblings and parent s interaction outside the family can be hugely affected with parents
frequently being unable or unwilling to take part in particular social activities. Grief counseling is

Criminalised Money Laundering In Australia
Criminalisation is a central tenet of any credible anti money laundering (AML) regime. The principal
offences related to money laundering in Australia are contained in division 400 of the Criminal Code
Act 1995(Cth) (the Criminal Code), which applies to both proceeds and instruments of crime.
Recognising the wide array of channels used to launder funds, the provision is framed in broad terms
and has been relied on to prosecute individuals in a variety of circumstances. This versatility has been
acknowledged by the courts with the NSWCA in Milne v R asserting that the money laundering
offences in section 400 constitute a 21st century response to antisocial and criminal conduct
commonly with international elements . Through the remainder of this presentation I will outline the
evolution and background of these offences, their elements, application, and ... Show more content on

Section 81 criminalised money laundering which was defined in s 81(3) as engaging directly or
indirectly, in transactions involving the proceeds of crime; or receiving, possessing, concealing,
disposing of or bringing into Australia any money, or property, that is proceeds of crime; and the
person knows, or ought reasonably to know, that the money or other property is derived or realised
from some form of unlawful activity . The maximum penalty associated with this offence was a $200
000 fine or up to 20 years imprisonment. In contrast, section 82 created a lesser offence of possessing
the proceeds of crime, making it unlawful for a person to receive, possesses, conceal, disposes of or
brings into Australia any money, or other property, that may reasonably be suspected of being
proceeds of crime . The latter offence did not require any actual or constructive knowledge of the
origins of the tainted money or property and was thus associated with a lesser maximum penalty (on

Analysis Of David Vs. Goliath Decision-Making Strategies
It can be disheartening at times to produce content that will compete with massive industry leaders,
especially if you have a local market that is competing with a global business. More and more of these
massive corporations are seeing the value of content marketing and making it a part of their digital
strategy.
So that puts your content in a David versus Goliath situation. The industry leader has a wider reach, is
viewed as a more authoritative source, and probably ranks better on Google. It is possible to outrank
huge corporations and industry leaders. You can do it with some clever planning, creative content and

Humorous Journeys
It is November 15, 2016. I look out my window hoping that don t see the blazing hot sun ripping

giving my eye a storybook illusion. I know I have to get out of bed but the comfort of my blue cotton

pull off the what seemed to be my morning happiness and go to the restroom.

Pros And Cons Of King Cobra
The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger than
a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow to
record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages, and there
have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what could happen.
However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that
the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the mongoose, and many
support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support the mongooses many
advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities ... Show more content on

That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling
amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so
injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can
flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight
snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand up
like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It will
fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of itself. The
mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To conclude, many pieces
of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the mongoose would win, no
contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing mongoose. At this point, it is obvious
that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, the mongoose would win
because of all of its advantages. Now we all know that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious
cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most scenarios, at

Abstract It has been indicated in previous epidemiological research that there is an elevated risk of

Cardiovascular diseases negatively affect the heart or blood vessels of the body. One of these diseases
is known as Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a disease that causes the hardening and narrowing of
the arteries. Heart attacks and strokes await those that have these diseases (Joseph et al., 2009).
Atherosclerosis can be caused by high blood pressure, smoking, and high cholesterol. Endothelium are
a thin layer of cells that are supposed to keep the inside of the arteries smooth promoting healthy
blood flow. When the endothelium is damaged and bad cholesterol moves past this area it collects.
This causes plaque to form in the arteries restricting the flow of blood. There was a case study
(Violanti, Vena, Patralia, 1998) between the dates of 1950 and 1990 where 40 police officers were
examined to collect data on their health and life span. The information from this research suggested
there are lower mortality rates amongst the U.S. general population vs those in Law enforcement.
Arteriosclerotic heart disease deaths were elevated in law enforcement officers with service times of
10 19 years and represented the majority of excess deaths amongst those with circulatory disease. The

The Character Analysis Of Iago In Othello
The first symptom that Iago exhibits is deceitfulness. Iago spends the entirety of his time during the
course of the play manipulation others and indulging in deceitful behaviors. Iago s actions are
constantly manipulative, self serving, and often proving harmful to others. The DSM 5 describes this
trait as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or gain .
Throughout the plays run Iago puts forth a facade, making himself seem trustworthy in order to get
closer to characters like Roderigo, Cassio, and Othello, whom he uses to inflict pain on others, or
themselves. One scene in particular comes when Iago and Cassio are the party that is happening that
evening. Iago attempts to get Cassio to drink, but Cassio is opposed. Iago tells him, I have a stoup of
wine Cassio replies with Not tonight good Iago Iago counters with, O they are our friends! But one
cup; I ll drink for you (2.3. ). However, this is not an isolated incident, Iago is shown being
manipulative and deceitful the entire play. Cassio was just a pawn in Iago s plan, for Iago no one has
enough value to not be used. Iago displays habits similar to another sociopath, the infamous Ted
Bundy. According to the website Weebly, Bundy frequently manipulated his victims, using his good
looks and charm as lures to trap his victims . Iago s actions are very similar to known sociopath Ted

Juror Ten s Twelve Angry Man
Everything have conclusion, before people make their conclusion they have to be thoughtful, but there

experience about family issue, or they can be thoughtless, when they make unfair conclusion for
others. Those people had same issue, they jumping to conclusion, which is never the best way to find
anything out. The conversation between Juror Four and Juror Ten show that they assume the kid was a
negative personality and give guilty as the result for the boy. Juror Four points out that Children from
slum backgrounds are potential menaces to society (Rose 48), Juror Ten strongly agrees with Juror
Four s idea he supports that The kids who crawl outa those places are real trash (48). From my
personal opinion, both Juror Four and Juror Ten jumping to conclusion, because of the boy was born
from the slum, which accept the consequence, they took colored eyes to looked at the group of people
from slum, that the people from those place must be the ones do the bad things. Which was unfair for
the boy, because they ignored the process of the event and testimonies. Look let s talk fact. These

Examining the Ethics of Plato and Aristotle Essay
This essay will be examining the ethics of Plato (428 347 BCE) and Aristotle (384 322 B.C). I will
firstly attempt to summarise the five fundamental concepts of Plato and Aristotle before providing my
own opinion and view on their ethics. I will concentrate on their theories on the good life as a life of
justice, censorship, knowledge and the good life.
I will first examine Plato s ethics. Plato was a philosopher who was both a rationalist and absolutist.
According to his view, people must be schooled to acquire certain kinds of knowledge i.e.
mathematics, philosophy and so forth. This training will give them the capacity to know the nature of
the good life. Since, evil is due to lack of knowledge.
Not all people have the mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was how Plato perceived absolutism.
Aristotle s overlook on what is the good life as he used an empirical approach to ethics. The good life
as Aristotle defines it as one which has happiness as a characteristic or a life of happiness . Happiness
is an activity of the soul in accord with perfect virtue . People ought to behave so as to achieve
happiness . I believe that Aristotle s answer will be everyone always ought to follow the middle course
between certain kinds of activities. Aristotle uses an analogy to describe happiness. The analogy of
happiness is best described as how much a person can eat. For example, if a person believes that
having two cakes would be sufficient for his lunch, but if he believes that having one cake would not
be enough for his lunch, then how much is right for him? To be right for him, he must eat between one
and two cakes in order to satisfy his appetite. This is Aristotle s formula, the doctrine of the mean or
the preferred name golden mean . The Doctrine of the Mean is the moderation in all things. The
virtues we must have are virtues of moderation. This will be different for different people as Aristotle
believed. Aristotle is therefore a relativist.
I would now like to share my opinion and perspective on how I perceive the theories of Plato and
Aristotle. In my view, the better solution to the problem of the good life is Aristotle s belief rather than
Plato s belief of the good life. Firstly, Plato s

Example Of Civil Disobedience
Doing the right thing is difficult. One is required to make decisions that may not be the popular choice
in the public s eyes. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority
and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a
tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do
otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might
happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were
Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text
states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s
policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse
opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the
midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist
evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about
because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong
to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re
false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. Although, there

Personality Disorders Essay
Psychologists have identified ten different types of personality disorders and categorized into three
different clusters. In the beginning, the diagnostic testing for schizotypal was not very reliable,
because the symptoms ranged from mild to severe, and would vary to the severity of the symptoms.
Due to research, psychologists have discovered the various causes that trigger this disorder. With the
new age, there has been some new advancement made toward helping and treating patients with
schizotypal. It does not affect just the patient but takes a big toll on society.

Schizotypal falls in the Cluster A category that is considered paranoid personality disorders.
According to Bjornlund (2011), ten to twenty years ago mental health professional started treating
patients for personality disorders, since it is harder to diagnose and treat. Each disorder had to be
approached differently according to a precise diagnosis. Health professionals used questionnaires and
interviews to diagnosis patients; however, often the results were incorrectly diagnosis. Some patients
do not get early treatment until the symptoms interfere with daily life or a relative encourages them to.
Some may seek treatment after court order, suicide attempt, anxiety, depression, or substance abuse.
Sometimes a precise diagnosis happens after being institutionalized or hospitalize for a long period of
time. Around the mid 1970 s, DSM emphasized an increasing reliability in diagnosis of schizotypal.
There are several different symptoms and characteristics that are present with schizotypal personality
disorder. According Bjounlund (2011), the symptoms may be mild in one specific area of the patient s
life or extremely severe that the patience cannot function in any part of life. Symptoms can range from
peculiar dress to perceptual alterations. The symptoms affect not just the patience but also family and
friends attributed to stress. Some patients diagnosed with schizotypal exhibit anxious behavior. The
anxious behavior includes obsessions and

Elton Mayo And Alienation
Frederick Taylor, Elton Mayo, and Alienation
The nineteenth century was a time ripe with progress and hope due to booming industrialization. As
organizations and workforces grew, people looked for ways to increase their productivity and profit
margins. New ideas were needed to satisfy both business owners and their employees and as such,
along came theorists such as Marx or other contributors like Frederick Taylor and Elton Mayo. Taylor
produced a management style coined Scientific Management whereas Mayo took a slightly different
route and conducted the Hawthorne studies. Over the years theorists such as Marx, with his wildly
popular theory about alienation in the workplace, have shaped our view of how management should

He believed that these employees were easily replaceable for less pay. These kinds of procedures and
ideas created an environment that was ripe for alienation. In an attempt to satisfy workers, In return
for a workers lost dignity, freedom, power and skill, Taylor promised higher pay (Hoopes 48). Taylor
also created the differential piece rate (Hoopes 38) which would further alienate workers from each
other, claiming it improved production. Overall, Taylor s theory of scientific management created a
good environment for business owners but it only fueled alienation between the workers and the
workers and society. Elton Mayo is best known for the Hawthorne effect. Mayo was well educated,
studying at several different universities including engineering at the University of Glasgow. Mayo
faced a lot of rejection during his career but his work greatly influenced our working environments
today. He believed that industries were destroying communal harmony and that production would
increase if the workers were better taken care of. He is quoted as saying that workers must rise above
indignation and frustration which the...new industrial society forced on workers (Hoopes 130). These
new managerial styles in addition to a capitalist leaning society created an unfriendly environment for
the majority of workers. Despite his attempts, his theories and ideas often fell

Reading Response
Reading Reflection Response As the American education system works to facilitate changes to
improve the success of students, much attention has been given to the importance of reading
instruction. The decline of reading scores across the country has called for researchers to investigate
the reading process and decipher which methods best promote successful reading. Alan Kamhi (2009)
stirred a variety of reactions after authoring The Case for the Narrow View of Reading, in which he
argues that poor reading skills stem from the American education system combining word recognition
and comprehension into a single unit, and from a lack of acquiring content knowledge in other
academic areas. Kamhi argues that teaching instruction in reading should focus solely on word

Catts argues that fixating solely upon decoding is not be the best option because while comprehension
is dependent upon knowledge, it also a complex cognitive process that takes more than just knowledge
to comprehend a text (2009). Looking at educational implications, Catts states that the education
system should provide limited direct reading instruction while focusing on content area instruction
with engaging activities that require active listening and participation (2009). Catts recommends that

Health And Safety Report Detailing John Schmidt s Injury
In reviewing the health and safety report detailing John Schmidt s injury on June 7th, 2015, I concur
with the report s findings that the cause of Mr. Schmidt s was a poorly designed safety guard on the
table saw. Table saw accidents are life altering, agonizing for the employee involved, and extremely
costly. In fact, the statistics of injuries and cost of those injuries are daunting: ...from 1990 2007, an
estimated 565,670 non occupational table saw related injuries...treated in U.S. emergency rooms (
New National Study Finds Table Saw Related Injuries Have Remained Consistently High: Nationwide

billion every year ( NCL Fact Sheet on Saw Safety National Consumers League , n.d.). Our
production shop has been fortunate in being able to report no table saw injuries prior to Mr. Schmidt s
accident. However, the importance of this one issue alone is exceedingly weighty. This one accident
could cost us our hardworking employees good health as well as millions of dollars in both correcting
this deficiency and medical expenses. One of our production shop employees, John Schmidt, was
seriously injured while using a table saw on June 7th, 2015. Mr. Schmidt claims that he followed all

A Guilty Conscience In And Then There Were None By Agatha...
A Guilty Conscience Guilt is to the spirit, what pain is to the body Elder David A. Bednar. What Elder
is saying is that guilt is like pain but to the spirit and mind. Having a guilty conscience can lead to bad
consequences and bad judgement. In And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Vera shows
readers the effects of a guilty conscience can make a person act and do things they never would do.
Vera learns that a guilty conscience can lead to bad things first when she can not stop thing about

Ethics Vs Bananas
Ethics vs. Bananas
In source one, the graph shows the value of a banana sold in the UK and how the total is split between
the different hands involved. Although this source is very factual is has a deeper meaning than just
numbers. The banana is one of the cheapest fruit sold in supermarkets, even though they come from
thousands of kilometers away. The way our world has made transportation so fast, cheap, and
available allows these banana s to sit on our shelves. The transportation of the fruit has the highest
value at four pence where the total value is twelve pence. The sale of the bananas at such a low cost is
due to cheap transportation, the supply of the fruit being higher than the demand, and the low wages
of the workers. The force of global transportation has made goods and services like banana s more
readily available. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay On My Room
My bedroom is not a place for the entire community. However, it is just as comfortable to me as
someone else s room is just as comfortable to them. My room is comparably different though. It s not
just a place where I keep all my stuff and sleep all day. There s more to my private abode than what
meets the eye.
Walking on the hardwood floor feels like a punch to the bottom of your foot. The flooring creaks
throughout the house as if it were haunted. However, it s my private space out of the rest of the world,
so overall, it would be worthwhile to cherish it. The blue walls do not take much interest, but the
Eiffel Tower decal and the dark brown trimming brings a bold touch. The room shape is nothing
special, just a small and box like. Dressers and bookshelves are crammed together from wall to wall.
The bed ends up finishing off the room. Having a memory foam mattress isn t hard on any body part,
it cradles the body with every movement. Black and white bedding adds to the decoration of the room,
and all my extra pillows and blankets brings a rainbow to the neutral bedding colors.
My room could be the just as comfortable for rest as the next, but there s more to it than just having
the blankets and pillows. It s not just the peaceful warmth that engulfs a cold night either. Seeing the
dark of the night makes surrounding areas invisible until light is shone. The sound of the fan is like the

Late Devonian Calculation Paper
Abstract
Late Devonian paleoclimate proxy records indicate substantial sea level variations, however a
thorough understanding of the Late Devonian climate and the causes of these fluctuations remain
uncertain. Numerous theories, including glaciation, bolide impacts, global anoxia, and the spreading
of land plants are attributed to these events. This paper attempts to test the plausibility of the
glaciation hypothesis by applying Late Devonian boundary conditions to a general circulation model
(GCM). A Late Devonian paleo reconstruction is combined with soil and vegetation, pCO2, and
obliquity parameters. Temperature and precipitation patterns indicate that it is possible for mountain
glaciers to form in regions of Gondwana that have both high latitude and altitude. However, because
there is a low temperature gradient between the equator and poles, the climate is comparable to post
industrial greenhouse climates. Therefore, these GCM simulations provide a greater understanding of
Late Devonian climate conditions and add validity to Late Devonian glaciation. ... Show more content

The, Holloway, And The Believer Shaw
Prometheus begins with Two archaeologists, the skeptic Holloway and the believer Shaw . These two
are seen to be excavating on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. In a cave they discover paleolithic art
illustrating a star map an ancient alien civilization. It s clear from Shaw and Holloway s reactions that
this mysterious painting is what the archaeologists were searching for. Once the painting is identified
they do an in depth pattern recognition search of images from other sites and discover global evidence
of paleocontact. Soon Shaw and Holloway are sent on a undisclosed mission with a group of
explorers. After flying at light speed to a planet trillions of miles away from Earth the group of
explorers discover a spot they believe to be signs of civilization. After a brief moment of investigating
they find conclusive evidence. Nevertheless, many of these explorers have ulterior motive for being
there, one mainly being the Weyland Corporation. The Weyland corporation believes that this sight is
where the human race actually came from. Discovery soon turns to a fight for there life once they are
discovered. Prometheus although it was filled with many thrilling scenes it has many errors in its plot

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS Essay Question: Books that engage directly with
contemporary concerns and issues will always involve a reader Through the study of the novel The
Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne, it is clear that the concerns and issues, as well as the style

Daddy By Sylvia Plath Analysis
Sylvia Plath s Daddy is a very strong poem emotionally that has many different meanings and
interpretations. The narrative that Plath created is one that conveys a deep emotional distress and
feelings of confinement of a woman as she is trapped by the memories of her father until finally
gaining freedom when she lets go and make peace with her past. The speaker, symbolism, and the
sound devices all play big parts in giving the poem a profound meaning of resolution. The speaker
often speaks in the second person as she talks to her father, almost like she s writing a final letter to
him. Looking at the poem in this light gives it a whole new tone. It fortifies the meaning of resolution
as the speaker gives a personal confession towards her father, letting him know that even after all the
hurting, she has come to terms with him and will no longer let him have such power over her life.
Certain lines to take on a deeper impact as one reads it like a confessional letter. In the line I have
always been scared of you (41), the speaker is admitting to her father and herself that he has always
scared her, even before his death. The line I may be a bit of a Jew (40) also takes a deeper meaning as
she learns more about herself that she may have been scared to admit before, such as being a Jew.
Throughout the poem, Plath s speaker fluctuates in her attitude towards her father, from hate to fear
and back again, until finally a plain disdain as she ends her letter to her

The Odyssey and O Brother Where Art Thou are two separate works, with O Brother Where Art Thou
being based on The Odyssey . While both works have numerous similarities between them, The
Odyssey and O Brother Where Art Thou also share some differences. Even though O Brother Where

concepts of the tale, such as the many archetypes, battling monsters, and the arrival home.
In comparison to The Odyssey , the main characters of O Brother Where Art Thou meet many
archetypical characters, however with slight differences. For example, right at the beginning, Everett

Musical Music Vs Musical Movies
Musical films are those that involve singing and dancing as the main elements by combining
performances of songs and dances. They are usually performed by the main characters, but they can
also bring multiples characters into one musical scene. Movies that bring occasional musical scenes,
such as Dooley Wilson s rendition of As Time Goes By in Casablanca (1943) movie, are most likely
not to be considered a musical film. Musical movies are known for combine movement and sound as
the two basic but most important elements of the film medium. In these type of movies, the characters
communicate or express emotions through songs and dance, allowing viewers to experience powerful
and heart touching scenes through beautiful and meaningful lyrics. Dancing can also bring a wide
variety of emotions even in sad scenes because characters can put an emotional message behind their
physical movements (http://www.filmreference.com). Choosing films that have similarities and share
the same genre was not an easy task but selecting musical movies became an easy choice. Choosing
two films of similar nature and cultural importance was the main goal. Therefore, Singin in the Rain
(1952) and La La Land (2016) is the perfect matches since they share more than their fair share of
striking similarities and differences. Singin in the Rain was directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly
who was one the main characters along Debbie Reynolds and Donald O Connor. The movie was

Debate
Imagine being backed into a corner and your opponent is closing ground. Right now you re sweating
trying to think of how you can escape. You have no weapons, no hands, you have nothing but your
mouth. Would you be successful or just another victim, the most likely scenario is the ladder. Today s
generation is quick to use violence to resolve issues instead of using their words, and i am inclined to
believe that it has to do with the fact that they do not know how to have a civilized debate. This is
where debate comes into play, debate is when you argue against an opponent trying to prove that your
right and your opponent is wrong. I have been in debate almost my entire highschool term and i can

Laboratory 4 Recombination
Testing the Mode of Inheritance of Shaven Bristles in Drosophila Using FlyLab
Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and
predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and
phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of
inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies.
The data generated with the Flylab software seemed to confirm the hypothesized mode of inheritance
for the phenotype of having the shaven bristles.
Methods
A computer program called FlyLab Software was used to simulate basic principles of genetic
inheritance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These numbers exhibit a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype flies to affected phenotype flies.
The expected number of wild type flies in the F2 generation is 734.25 and the expected number of
shaven bristle flies in the F2 generation is 244.75. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal
phenotype to affected phenotype.
The expected and observed values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
The degree of freedom in this experiment was 3. The chi square value that was calculated was 1.4481.
The p value was 0.6943.
These values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
Since the p value of 0.6943 is greater than 0.05, the data is said to be statistically significant. This
means the null hypothesis is not rejected and the observed values meet the expected values.

Historical Accuracy Of The Film Good Night, And Good Luck
Historical Accuracy of the film Good Night, and Good Luck Ed Murrow is one of the most well

He is portrayed in George Clooney s, Good Night, and Good Luck, as the anchor to the news show,

in the early 1950 s in the midst of the cold war and an era of intense anti communist sentiment in

Wershba, a member of the team at CBS, is then sent to Detroit to get interviews with friends, family,
and an air force statement. The air force refuses to comment, which forces the story into a much more

practice to only present stories with equal and opposite sides (Slater 169). The air force s refusal to
defend their actions meant that the story was presented with only one side of the argument. The
directors and screenwriters displayed the controversiality of the story through the refusal of Bill Paley,
their boss at CBS, to advertise for the story and a meeting between the CBS team and a pair of air

Techniques To Increase Solubility And Dissolution Rates Of...
Description Parts of solvent needed for one part of solute
Very soluble 10000
Approaches to Increase solubility/ Dissolution:
Various techniques have been used in attempt to improve solubility and dissolution rates of poorly
water soluble drugs which include solid dispersion, micronization, lipid based formulations, melt
granulation, direct compaction, solvent evaporation, co precipitation, adsorption, ordered mixing,
liquisolid compacts, solvent deposition inclusion complexation and steam aided granulation. In these
techniques carrier plays an important role in improving solubility and dissolution rate. Polymers,
superdisintegrants, surfactants are extensively studied in recent years for dissolution enhancement in
drugs.

Able to preferably increase the aqueous solubility of the drug.
Chemically compatible with the drug and not form a strongly bonded complex with the drug.
SELECTION OF SOLVENTS: Solvent to be included for the formulation of solid dispersion should
have the following criteria:
Both drug and carrier must be dissolved.
Toxic solvents to be avoided due to the risk of residual levels after preparation e.g. chloroform and
dichloromethane .
Ethanol can be used as alternative as it is less toxic.
Water based systems are preferred.
Surfactants are used to create carrier drug solutions but as they can reduce glass transition
temperature, so care must be taken in to consideration.
ADVANTAGES OF SOLID DISPERSION(22):
Particles with Reduced Particle Size: Molecular dispersions, as solid dispersions, represent the last
state on particle size reduction, and after carrier dissolution the drug is molecularly dispersed in the
dissolution medium. Solid dispersions apply this principle to drug release by creating a mixture of a
poorly water soluble drug and highly soluble carriers. A high surface area is formed, resulting in an
increased dissolution rate and, consequently, improved bioavailability .
Particles with Improved Wettability: Carriers with surface activity, such as cholic acid and bile salts.
When used, can significantly increase the wettability property of drug. Even

Abstract: the open nature of the wireless medium leaves it vulnerable to drive or wedge packets
forcibly into a tight position referred as squeeze. This intentional interference with wireless
transmissions can be used as a launch pad for mounting Denial of Service attacks on wireless
networks typically; squeeze has been addressed under an external threat model. However, person with
depth knowledge of internet protocol specifications and network secrets can launch low effort squeeze
attacks that are difficult to detect and counter. In these attacks, the adversary is active only for a short
period of time, selectively targeting messages of high importance. We illustrate the advantages of
selective squeeze in terms of network performance degradation and adversary effort by presenting two
case studies; a selective attack on TCP and one on routing. In this work, we address the problem of
selective squeeze attacks in wireless networks. We show that selective squeeze attacks can be
launched by performing real time packet classification at the physical layer. To reduce these attacks,
we develop three schemes that prevent real time packet classification by combining cryptographic
primitives with physical layer attributes. We

The Federal trade commission or called the FTC was created in 1914. The Federal Trade Commission

informed consumer choice and public understanding of this competitive process; and another reason
was to accomplish this without the unduly burdening of legitimate business activity. The FTC deals

Factors that Shaped the Modern Olympic Movement
DBQ Essay
Some factors that shaped the modern Olympic movement from 1892 to 2002 were the increased
participation of women in the games due to women s suffrage, the rising nationalism and superiority
over competitors that took place, and the increase in trade and funding.
The modern Olympic movement was shaped through the soaring advocation of women s rights (2, 8).
An anonymous photographer (#2), in the 1908 Olympic games held in Great Britain where only 2
percent of women participated in the games, presents a photograph of Sybil Newall, a female British
competitor at the games, and advocates women participating in the games. This photographer might
have this view because he or she is a feminist that took place in the women suffrage movement and is
baffled that solely two percent of athletes were women, and is urging the Olympics to make a great
change. Hassiva Boulmerka (#8), an Algerian competitor that engaged in the 1992 games held in
Spain where 29 percent of the athletes were women, believes that every woman has the ability of
becoming an athlete, and must strengthen their mind and conscious, not just their body, to overcome
these social challenges. Boulmerka, as a woman participant, may have this belief because she has
underwent these obstacles as well, and wishes to motivate women in Spain to have the will and
determination to overcome them and become a female athlete like herself. A good additional
document that would better our understanding of how this social

Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain...
1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each
instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates
a universal ?
In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view,
as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between
Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or
realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way.
Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like
redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that
such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that
abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non
physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract
objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for
example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can
contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even
individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists

Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit
An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit
Introduction
Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son
was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among
mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to
help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit
showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians
have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe
to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of
the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have
interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts.
The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts
Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the
Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49). The author of the book of Luke, which was
written by the same person who wrote the books of Acts, continues this conversation in Acts 1:4 8.
Jesus described that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). He also said that they

1. List all of the jobs that you chose. Which jobs are paid more or less? (rank them) Is this what you
would have expected? Why or why not? I chose three jobs of COO (Chief Operating Officer), HRIS
(Human Resource Information Systems) Manager, and Customer Service Representative, and I
studied these three jobs salary in Boston MA. COO is paid the highest, its median annual salary is
$455,864. Then is HRIS Manager with a median annual salary of $113,583. Customer Service
Representative gets the lowest payment, $35,250 as a median annual salary. This rank is exact what I
expected, because COO requires much higher educational level and years of experience than the other
two, and Customer Service Representative is only an entry level job. 2. Do ... Show more content on

Actually, I found these three job descriptions quite clear and useful to define the jobs titles because
information included is comprehensive, so they give me a general summary of the job itself. 4. Check
out these jobs at either your company or on different job boards. Where did you find the jobs? How
does the pay for jobs advertised either at your company or elsewhere differ from the pay levels on
salary.com? Why do these differences exist? I checked out these jobs at payscale.com. The US median
annual salaries for COO, HRIS Manager, and Customer Service Representative are $135,006,
$82,025, and $34,795. The numbers are quite different from the ones at Boston. I consider this
difference due to the geographic reason. The living cost at Boston is much higher than most other
cities in the US, so the salary will be higher. However, we can see there is little difference in the salary
of Customer Service Representative, this is because most of them get hourly payment, and the lowest
hourly payment is much similar in most cities under the state

Creating Engaging Literacy Lesson Plan
Creating engaging literacy lesson plans takes a combination of effective instruction and material
interesting to students. Knowing your students is essential in the planning and implementing of any
lesson to ensure it reaches all students .Reading Comprehension: What Every Teacher Needs to Know,
states Influential teachers are highly valued participants in the reading process. They know the
importance of every student comprehending successfully. (McLaughlin,2012 p. 433). Ensuring all
students have the opportunity to learn and comprehend the information presented in a lesson is
important to lesson creation. Creating and implementing a reading/writing lesson for this course, took
some extra care and a planning. Using literacy based instruction practices in combination with STEM
education proved to be very helpful as well as engaging to my students.
I feel this lesson motivated students to read more informational texts. By reading this story, students
were intrigued about the other different kinds of boats there are and how they are made and work. This
also encouraged students to use a fictional text to learn about real world items. One student asked
what other kinds of books we could read to inspire us to build things. We discussed finding a story
about cars or buildings and then using different materials to create our own versions. This lesson also
introduced students to a way of applying what they learned from a fictional text, to other subjects, in
this case

  • 2. Unnatural Causes Summary The opening statement in the documentary, Unnatural Causes , reads, Is inequality making us sick? . The documentary Unnatural Causes focuses on the high rate of tuberculosis (TB) among the native people of the Marshall Islands, which are located in the Pacific. The TB rate in the Marshall Islands is 23 times that of the United States. TB is very contagious and affects most people who come into contact with it because it is an airborne illness. The common symptoms of TB are a chronic cough, chills and fevers, and it can infect other internal organs. TB is an unevenly spread disease due to structural violence and cultural arrangements present in today s society. These unnatural causes create a social and medical barrier that makes TB more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, if tuberculosis is reexamined from the point of view of those living in poverty, a radically different picture emerges (Farmer, 187). He describes that rates of TB have gone down in the United States and other wealthy countries, and is then, considered a minimal affecting disease. However, recent history shows that TB has been re introduced and spread back into the wealthier nations especially in their poor communities, but these countries are considering this disease as new and emerging. Farmer states, If certain populations have long been afflicted by these disorders, why are diseases considered new or emerging? Is it simply because they have come to affect more visible read, more valuable persons? (Farmer, 39). Many think that this illness is new because it is finding its way back into the rich populations. Unfortunately, TB does not get a lot of attention, as Farmer states, it would appear that diseases predominantly afflicting the poor are unlikely to garner funding for research and drug development unless they begin to emerge into the consciousness and space of the nonpoor (Farmer ... • 3. Analysis Of Into The Wild By Chris Mccandless Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is about Chris McCandless who was a child born into a well off family who fit into American society extremely well. After traveling south and receiving his college degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Chris had the sudden urge to leave everything behind and go on the adventure of a lifetime. Following in the ideologies and footsteps of his idols Thoreau, Jack London, and several others; Chris donated all of money to a charity that helps hungry children, changed his name to Alex Supertramp, and headed West in his old yellow Datsun to escape the hassle and expectations of society as it is today. He traveled to many places including Colorado, Mexico, The Grand Canyon, Arizona, California, and South Dakota where he made a lasting impression on Wayne Westerberg. Chris made huge impacts on several peoples lives along his journey, but always kept them at arm s length and left before there was an unbreakable connection established. Instead he replaced the joy that most people get from human interaction and replaced it with feelings of wonder and exhilaration that pristine nature brought. He lived happily by never staying in one place for too long and always having something new to explore, going against the modern day norms. Chris s ultimate journey is to escape to the Alaska wilderness, where he eventually meets his demise by eating poisonous seeds. It is thought that perhaps he had a change of heart towards modern day society in the end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Multiple birth is a complexity of pregnancy that is becoming increasingly more prevalent in today s society. The incidence of multiple birth has a great effect on the mother and offspring, not only physically but also socially and emotionally. These effects include emotional instability as a result of child maltreatment, the increased risk of congenital malformation causing emotional and social problems and a wider social impact on the health care system. A multiple birth occurs when a single pregnancy results in more than one foetus. Twins and triplets are the most common forms of multiples. The rate of multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The incidence of congenital malformations in multiple births is up to 4 times higher than that of singleton births (Menasinkai Chiniwar, 2013). Corsello and Giuffrè (2012) define congenital malformations as single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts identifiable at birth or during intrauterine life. The whole family and their quality of life are impacted when a child is born with birth defects, particularly emotionally. Parents of children with congenital malformations face a unique challenge in adjusting and learning to care for them appropriately. Post diagnosis of congenital malformation, the parents often go through the typical stages of grief very similar to if they had lost the child. This is recognized as a part of the process and it is normal for parents to mourn the loss of what they expected to be a healthy child (Lemacks, Fowles, Mateus, Thomas, 2013). The parent s emotional and mental health can be adversely impacted and as a result suffer depression and anxiety, which can have a devastating effect on the entire family (Song et all., 2012). Siblings and parent s interaction outside the family can be hugely affected with parents frequently being unable or unwilling to take part in particular social activities. • 5. Criminalised Money Laundering In Australia Criminalisation is a central tenet of any credible anti money laundering (AML) regime. The principal offences related to money laundering in Australia are contained in division 400 of the Criminal Code Act 1995(Cth) (the Criminal Code), which applies to both proceeds and instruments of crime. Recognising the wide array of channels used to launder funds, the provision is framed in broad terms and has been relied on to prosecute individuals in a variety of circumstances. This versatility has been acknowledged by the courts with the NSWCA in Milne v R asserting that the money laundering offences in section 400 constitute a 21st century response to antisocial and criminal conduct commonly with international elements . The maximum penalty associated with this offence was a $200 000 fine or up to 20 years imprisonment. In contrast, section 82 created a lesser offence of possessing the proceeds of crime, making it unlawful for a person to receive, possesses, conceal, disposes of or brings into Australia any money, or other property, that may reasonably be suspected of being proceeds of crime . • 11. Pros And Cons Of King Cobra The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger than a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow to record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages, and there have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what could happen. However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the mongoose, and many support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support the mongooses many advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand up like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It will fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of itself. The mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To conclude, many pieces of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the mongoose would win, no contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing mongoose. At this point, it is obvious that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, the mongoose would win because of all of its advantages. Now we all know that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most scenarios, at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Atherosclerosis is a disease that causes the hardening and narrowing of the arteries. Heart attacks and strokes await those that have these diseases (Joseph et al., 2009). Atherosclerosis can be caused by high blood pressure, smoking, and high cholesterol. Endothelium are a thin layer of cells that are supposed to keep the inside of the arteries smooth promoting healthy blood flow. When the endothelium is damaged and bad cholesterol moves past this area it collects. This causes plaque to form in the arteries restricting the flow of blood. There was a case study (Violanti, Vena, Patralia, 1998) between the dates of 1950 and 1990 where 40 police officers were examined to collect data on their health and life span. The information from this research suggested there are lower mortality rates amongst the U.S. general population vs those in Law enforcement. Arteriosclerotic heart disease deaths were elevated in law enforcement officers with service times of 10 19 years and represented the majority of excess deaths amongst those with circulatory disease. Iago spends the entirety of his time during the course of the play manipulation others and indulging in deceitful behaviors. The DSM 5 describes this trait as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or gain . Throughout the plays run Iago puts forth a facade, making himself seem trustworthy in order to get closer to characters like Roderigo, Cassio, and Othello, whom he uses to inflict pain on others, or themselves. Iago tells him, I have a stoup of wine Cassio replies with Not tonight good Iago Iago counters with, O they are our friends! But one cup; I ll drink for you (2.3. ). I will firstly attempt to summarise the five fundamental concepts of Plato and Aristotle before providing my own opinion and view on their ethics. I will concentrate on their theories on the good life as a life of justice, censorship, knowledge and the good life. I will first examine Plato s ethics. Plato was a philosopher who was both a rationalist and absolutist. According to his view, people must be schooled to acquire certain kinds of knowledge i.e. mathematics, philosophy and so forth. This training will give them the capacity to know the nature of the good life. Since, evil is due to lack of knowledge. Not all people have the mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was how Plato perceived absolutism. Aristotle s overlook on what is the good life as he used an empirical approach to ethics. The good life as Aristotle defines it as one which has happiness as a characteristic or a life of happiness . Happiness is an activity of the soul in accord with perfect virtue . People ought to behave so as to achieve happiness . I believe that Aristotle s answer will be everyone always ought to follow the middle course between certain kinds of activities. Aristotle uses an analogy to describe happiness. The analogy of happiness is best described as how much a person can eat. For example, if a person believes that having two cakes would be sufficient for his lunch, but if he believes that having one cake would not be enough for his lunch, then how much is right for him? To be right for him, he must eat between one and two cakes in order to satisfy his appetite. This is Aristotle s formula, the doctrine of the mean or the preferred name golden mean . The Doctrine of the Mean is the moderation in all things. The virtues we must have are virtues of moderation. This will be different for different people as Aristotle believed. Aristotle is therefore a relativist. I would now like to share my opinion and perspective on how I perceive the theories of Plato and Aristotle. In my view, the better solution to the problem of the good life is Aristotle s belief rather than Plato s belief of the good life. Firstly, Plato s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Example Of Civil Disobedience Doing the right thing is difficult. One is required to make decisions that may not be the popular choice in the public s eyes. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. Late Devonian Calculation Paper Abstract Late Devonian paleoclimate proxy records indicate substantial sea level variations, however a thorough understanding of the Late Devonian climate and the causes of these fluctuations remain uncertain. Numerous theories, including glaciation, bolide impacts, global anoxia, and the spreading of land plants are attributed to these events. This paper attempts to test the plausibility of the glaciation hypothesis by applying Late Devonian boundary conditions to a general circulation model (GCM). A Late Devonian paleo reconstruction is combined with soil and vegetation, pCO2, and obliquity parameters. Temperature and precipitation patterns indicate that it is possible for mountain glaciers to form in regions of Gondwana that have both high latitude and altitude. The narrative that Plath created is one that conveys a deep emotional distress and feelings of confinement of a woman as she is trapped by the memories of her father until finally gaining freedom when she lets go and make peace with her past. The speaker, symbolism, and the sound devices all play big parts in giving the poem a profound meaning of resolution. The speaker often speaks in the second person as she talks to her father, almost like she s writing a final letter to him. Looking at the poem in this light gives it a whole new tone. It fortifies the meaning of resolution as the speaker gives a personal confession towards her father, letting him know that even after all the hurting, she has come to terms with him and will no longer let him have such power over her life. Genetics 382 Lab Report Genetics 382 Lab Report 1 Robert Kamil (Student #11) TA: Camille English, Section 4 Rutgers University, Spring 2017 Laboratory 4 Recombination Testing the Mode of Inheritance of Shaven Bristles in Drosophila Using FlyLab Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies. The data generated with the Flylab software seemed to confirm the hypothesized mode of inheritance for the phenotype of having the shaven bristles. Methods A computer program called FlyLab Software was used to simulate basic principles of genetic inheritance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These numbers exhibit a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype flies to affected phenotype flies. The expected number of wild type flies in the F2 generation is 734.25 and the expected number of shaven bristle flies in the F2 generation is 244.75. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype to affected phenotype. He is portrayed in George Clooney s, Good Night, and Good Luck, as the anchor to the news show, See it Now, specifically surrounding the episodes focused on McCarthyism. These episodes were aired in the early 1950 s in the midst of the cold war and an era of intense anti communist sentiment in America. At the time, television journalism was fairly new, and thus, it was widespread practice to only present stories with equal and opposite sides (Slater 169). The air force s refusal to defend their actions meant that the story was presented with only one side of the argument. The directors and screenwriters displayed the controversiality of the story through the refusal of Bill Paley, their boss at CBS, to advertise for the story and a meeting between the CBS team and a pair of air force generals. In reality, CBS refused to take out an ad in the New York Times, as Murrow and Friendly had asked, so they paid for their own advertisement out of pocket (168). Some people are against the usage of bathrooms based on gender identity feeling that it would be better to have usage based on the gender listed on birth certificates or single stall unisex bathrooms. Able to preferably increase the aqueous solubility of the drug. Chemically compatible with the drug and not form a strongly bonded complex with the drug. SELECTION OF SOLVENTS: Solvent to be included for the formulation of solid dispersion should have the following criteria: Both drug and carrier must be dissolved. Toxic solvents to be avoided due to the risk of residual levels after preparation e.g. chloroform and dichloromethane . Ethanol can be used as alternative as it is less toxic. Water based systems are preferred. Surfactants are used to create carrier drug solutions but as they can reduce glass transition temperature, so care must be taken in to consideration. ADVANTAGES OF SOLID DISPERSION(22): Particles with Reduced Particle Size: Molecular dispersions, as solid dispersions, represent the last state on particle size reduction, and after carrier dissolution the drug is molecularly dispersed in the dissolution medium. Solid dispersions apply this principle to drug release by creating a mixture of a poorly water soluble drug and highly soluble carriers. Packet Hiding Methods For Avoiding Attacks Packet Hiding methods For Avoiding Attacks R.Roopini M.Tech, Software Engineering Ganapathy Engineering College , Hunter Raod ,Warangal Mr.K.Ranjith Khanna Assistant Professor, Department of CSE Ganapathy Engineering College , Hunter Raod ,Warangal Abstract: the open nature of the wireless medium leaves it vulnerable to drive or wedge packets forcibly into a tight position referred as squeeze. This intentional interference with wireless transmissions can be used as a launch pad for mounting Denial of Service attacks on wireless networks typically; squeeze has been addressed under an external threat model. However, person with depth knowledge of internet protocol specifications and network secrets can launch low effort squeeze attacks that are difficult to detect and counter. In these attacks, the adversary is active only for a short period of time, selectively targeting messages of high importance. We illustrate the advantages of selective squeeze in terms of network performance degradation and adversary effort by presenting two case studies; a selective attack on TCP and one on routing. In this work, we address the problem of selective squeeze attacks in wireless networks. We show that selective squeeze attacks can be launched by performing real time packet classification at the physical layer. To reduce these attacks, we develop three schemes that prevent real time packet classification by combining cryptographic primitives with physical layer attributes. We ... Factors that Shaped the Modern Olympic Movement DBQ Essay Some factors that shaped the modern Olympic movement from 1892 to 2002 were the increased participation of women in the games due to women s suffrage, the rising nationalism and superiority over competitors that took place, and the increase in trade and funding. The modern Olympic movement was shaped through the soaring advocation of women s rights (2, 8). An anonymous photographer (#2), in the 1908 Olympic games held in Great Britain where only 2 percent of women participated in the games, presents a photograph of Sybil Newall, a female British competitor at the games, and advocates women participating in the games. This photographer might have this view because he or she is a feminist that took place in the women suffrage movement and is baffled that solely two percent of athletes were women, and is urging the Olympics to make a great change. Hassiva Boulmerka (#8), an Algerian competitor that engaged in the 1992 games held in Spain where 29 percent of the athletes were women, believes that every woman has the ability of becoming an athlete, and must strengthen their mind and conscious, not just their body, to overcome these social challenges. • 46. Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain... 1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates a universal ? In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view, as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way. Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit Introduction Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49). The author of the book of Luke, which was written by the same person who wrote the books of Acts, continues this conversation in Acts 1:4 8.
