Analysis Of Sue Monk Kidd s Novel And The Invention Of Wings
Sue Monk Kidd s novel, The Invention of Wings was published in 2014, and Jack Kerouac s On
the Road had been published in 1957; however, even with fifty seven year difference between their
publication dates Kidd and Kerouac carried one central theme in their novels, and that is the idea
of a journey. The link between the journeys in these books is noted by the major characters desire to
see life as they imagine it to be; for Kidd s character, it is not only about the chance to escape
slavery, but also the chance to experience life the with the opportunity to life the life her mother
had told her about before she passed away. For Kerouac s characters, the major character in
particular, the journey is the same in his desire not to be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Handful recalls, She [Sarah Grimke] was trapped same as me, but she was trapped by her mind,
by the minds of the people round her, not by the law. At the African church, Mr. Vesey used to
say. Be careful, you can get enslaved twice, once in your body and once in your mind (Kidd
201). Handful s spiritual growth allowed her to escape both mental and physical bondage, because
she carefully listened to the words of Mr. Vesey, paid close attention to her mother s words, and
studied her owner s (Sarah Grimke) thoughts on slavery and her own freedom.
Sarah Grimke is a nonfictional character in Wings. She was born in 1792 and was a member of
a wealth and prominent family in Charleston, South Carolina. Handful is a fictional character
who discerns that Sarah didn t like owning slaves. An example of this is made apparent during a
discussion Sarah has with her mother when she says Mother, please, let me......let me give Hetty
back to you. Upon contemplating her words Sarah then thinks, Give Hetty back. As if she was
mine after all. As if owning people was as natural as breathing. For all my resistance about
slavery, I breathed that foul air, too (16). Handful intuitiveness assisted her in seeing that Sarah
was a slave also. She said to Sarah, My body might be a slave, but not my mind. For you, it s the
other way round (201). Mentally, Grimke was a slave to man s laws, as she had to contend with
the owning a slave opposed to being a physical one.

Two Reasons God Asked To Create Eve
God waited to create Eve for 2 reasons: First, God wanted Adam to experience how it was to be
alone and to feel that something was missing . Secondly, God wanted Adam to love Him
completely before loving anyone else. On the sixth day, God created humans to His image.
However, not a lot of people will notice that Eve was not created at the same time as Adamof even
immediately after him. God waited a bit to create her. Only God knows what His true and real
reasons were but in this essay, I will expand on the 2 reasons that I believe are the reasons why God
waited to create Eve. Evidence of these two points is found in Genesis 2 and 3. My first point is
that God waited to create Eve for a while was so that Adam would know how it was to be... Show

Adam was not lonely. Being lonely is a state of mind that causes many affects such as
depression, insomnia, and so forth. He was physically alone as in being the only one of his own
kind. He didn t feel lonely or any negative moods. He felt that something was missing as he
looked around to the other animals. Just like today, we feel that something is missing but we re
not sure what it may be. That s how I think Adam was feeling. Genesis 3 quotes that Adam had
exclaimed with joy that finally someone was made of himself and he called her woman. While
exclaiming in joy, the feeling that something was missing was no longer there and he felt
complete. (bottom paragraph) Last verse on how male and female unite to become one Adam
says flesh of his flesh and was made from his rib. Male and female are to be together, not alone.
Being made of his rib shows that she is a part of him. God created Eve later so that Adam would
know how it was to be alone and see that something was missing after naming the animals and
seeing each had its own pair. God created the feeling that something was missing in Adam so that
he would know that two plus two makes one

Patch Adams Patch Study Guide
Based, loosely, on a true story, Patch Adams follows Hunter Patch Adams (played by Robin
Williams), a medical doctor famous for his use of humor in the healing process. Adams, following
a suicide attempt, checks himself into a psychiatric hospital, where he learns the power of humor
and laughter on a patients quality of life and earns the nickname Patch for fixing another patient s
cup. Now inspired to become a doctor, two years following his institutionalization, Adams enrolls
in Virginia Medical University, where he is the oldest first year student. There he finds himself in
conflict with the Dean of the college, due to his questioning of the university s methods of care and
his numerous pranks and jokes. Following a gynecology conference,... Show more content on

Adams files a formal grievance with the state medical board, at the behest of his former
roommate Mitch Roman. The state board holds a hearing to decide whether Adams will be
allowed to graduate and receive his medical degree. At the hearing, Adams gives a heartfelt speech
regarding his actions and the rationale behind them. He tells the jury that he did his best to help his
patients and insisted that, though treating the body is win or lose, treating the spirit is always a
win, even when death is the outcome. He encourages the jury and other medical students to
cultivate relationships with their patients and treat death with dignity and humor. The jury takes
Adams s side in the proceedings, agrees in the utility and correctness of his methods, and rules that
Adams be allowed to graduate. Following his graduation, after he is handed his diploma, Adams
bows to the professors, revealing that he is wearing nothing under his robe and exposing his
buttocks, proving to the Dean of the university that he still refuses to conform to the Dean s ideas

Plato s Phaedo For The Immortality Of The Soul
Plato s final argument in Phaedo for the immortality of the soul is one of the most interesting
topics of all time. The argument of whether the soul exists has been debated for years and even
today. It goes hand to hand with the application of the theory of forms to the question of the soul s
immortality, as Plato constantly reminds us, the theory of forms is the most certain of all his
theories. The Phaedo is Plato s attempt to convince us of the immortality of the soulby using several
main arguments. These include the argument of forms and the law of opposites. In the final
passage of the Phaedo, Plato provides his final proof, although it may be his last attempt to give his
reasoning, it is not very convincing. Plato has some good points and reasoning to believe in the
immortality of the soul, but his arguments often seem to make large assumptions without any
concrete evidence. Is the argument valid? In this essay I will attempt to expose some flaws in Plato
s argument while showing how the conclusion can still be convincing for some.
According to Plato talking through Socrates, whenever a soul occupies a body, it always brings
life with it. This means that the soul is connected with life, and so cannot admit its opposite which
is death. If it does not admit the form of evenness and is uneven, according to Socrates, then it
follows that the soul, which does not admit of death, cannot die. It must either withdraw or
disappear at the approach of death. If the soul is

E Commerce Security Threats And The Solutions Essay
During the early 1960 s, E Commerce businesses conducted electronic transactions via primitive
computer networks but the way these transactions were exchanged provided little to no
security(34).This made online transactions on WWW(World Wide Web), not reliable and
unsecured making consumers eager to not take the chance of risking their information, on an
unprotected system. During the early 1960 s came Electronic Data Interchange(EDI). EDI
replaced traditional mailing and faxing of documents with a digital transfer of data from one
computer to another .(35)This was the first step toward the E Commerce that is present
today. Then the influential SSL protocol would come to be which helped to improve the state of
security on the WWW. This led to more protocols being introduced, leading to other detrimental
protocols such as (3D Secure, TLS, SET). These protocols, that were just mentioned are still widely
used today. This paper will go over the threats and the solutions of E Commerce security. E
Commerce security threats according to FindLaw UK, major threats to E Commerce can be
grouped into two categories, malicious and accidental threats .(34) The first threat gone over will be
malicious threats which include hackers attempting to penetrate a system and steal sensitive data,
burglars stealing a laptop that has sensitive data on it and impostors posing as legitimate users and
then copying website information .(34)Another major threat to E Commerce involves attackers

Travels Of A T-Shirt In The Global Economy Summary
Pietra Rivoli, the author of The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, utilized her personal
investigation of how the t shirt was created (Rivoli, X). By her putting herself in the different
locations where the shirt process is made, truly provides an eye opening view on the situation.
Rivoli saw how researches would simply collect statistical data but not have personal observations
on what was happening. There are many people who are looking at sweatshops from afar and
assuming only negative aspects about them. Granted, while sweatshops by all means are not a
luxurious work environments, there are components that the economic and politic data is not able
to fully capture. Throughout Rivoli s book, there is the central theme that poorer countries could
be relatively improved by the opportunities that they are provided with the jobs in the process of
manufacturing a shirt. Rivoli sections her book off into 5 parts due to chronologically following
the process of how or where the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are sweatshops in global capitalism that will exploit those who are in a weak position.
There are women who are forced to work everyday of the week at long hours and earning a low
wage (89). Their living conditions are less than desirable, and one could say that their rights
seem to be nonexistent. With that being said, Rivoli presents the other side of what will occur
as the result of globalization. One outlook could be from a business one: the shirts are cheaper
because there is more work that is being down, the consumers will be pleased that they do not
have to pay more for their shirt (90). However, a critic might look at the conditions that the people
who were at the factors had to face and see that they were denied justice and their personal rights
(90). Rivoli does not state which side she stands on, instead she questions the reader to develop
their own opinion instead of simply take

Heart Of Darkness Kurtz As A Hero Essay
Heart Of Darkness is a masterpiece written by Joseph Conrad. Joseph Campbell said A hero is
someone who as given his or her life to something bigger than oneself . It is very clear that both
Marlow and Kurtz the two main characters in the story are thought of as heroes. Everyone has a
different idea on who the hero might be and whom he or she thinks it should be. Given there are
many different definitions for hero and you can look at each character differently. I feel like it is
hard to choose a hero because they both have so many flaws. Your first thought while reading the
book would be that Marlow is the hero since he is the narrator for 95% of the book, but if you
think deeper and think as the characters in Heart of Darknessyou would see Kurtz as being the
hero. The main thing about being a hero is that all the readers and characters should know who
it is and it should be very obvious by the end of the book. After reading and thinking of the book,
I have come to the conclusion that neither of them are heroes throughout the book but at the end
of the book we realize that Marlow is a hero after all. Marlow is one of the first characters we
meet in the book. He is a sailor who is being sent of to the Congo to sail a steamboat but
throughout his journey finds many obstacles. In most stories for example Hamlet by William
Shakespeare, the main character is the hero. Not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

becomes some sort of hero. While reading the rest of my essay, I will explain how Marlow

Characteristics Of An Ideal City
What factors do you expect from a city? Easy public transport? easy to access food? Decent
entertainment and community centres? A large city would be an easy place to find all these.
One of the key factors about the city is to find a job for survival. Finding a job is easier since more
jobs are probably available. When you get a job and if you dislike it or get fired, you will have
more choices. Another important factor is access in the city with ease, such as easy availability of
trams/trains/taxi because sometimes you forget something at the grocery store or you are invited
somewhere last minute. This is convenient for anyone lacking a vehicle. The city should have
good quality control. Anything factory made or cooked in the city would be handled by
professionals. In an ideal city, you should not travel long distances for common items such as
clothes, last minute groceries, the bank or any other company services. There should be banks,
insurances or other customer services companies in the town ready to assist you. Also in the
unlikely event of an emergency, pharmacies, hospitals and medicine should be easily accessible.
Traveling should happen without any problems, so you will be able to catch a last minute flight.
Also, the city should have more advanced development: buildings, population and economy. These
factors are very important for a region to become a suitable comfortable place to live. More
buildings such as schools and hospitals will help in growing

The Russian Revolution Of 1917
The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and
marked the beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of
investigation as it is arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it
helped shape many other subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War.
The Bolsheviks triumph can be accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of
autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism; the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks
compared to the downfalls of the Provisional Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover.
There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such as the backwardness of Russian society, the
failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of government which caused grievances
amongst the people. The Russian public desired political change, whether towards a more
democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more socialist revolution in which
power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why Tsarism collapsed, it is
crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led to the Tsar s
weaknesses in his control of the government.
Russia at this time was a backwards and provincial society: encompassing a vast expanse of
territory, the towns were underdeveloped and the

Stephen Covey s Time Management Matrix
Drawing upon your experiences of study and learning during the first semester, reflect on the
development of your academic and generic skills. Identify your strengths and weaknesses, and
suggest areas which you need to improve or develop, including the strategies you will use to do so .
Introduction
In this essay I am going to discuss time management and I will be relating it to personal experiences
that I have encountered in the first semester of being in university, this will include my strengths
and weaknesses and how I am going improve and develop both of these. The theories in which I
will be using and applying to my essay are Stephen Covey s Time Management Matrix, Edwin
Locke s Theory of Goal Setting and Pareto s 80 20 Principle.
Time management is the ability to use one s time effectively or productively, especially at work .
(Oxforddictionaries.com, n.d.)
Literature review
In terms of academic skills, I had carried various skills from sixth form in which helped me to do
well in my studies, one of them being time management. In sixth form, I used to manage my time
effectively. I would have a right balance of social and academic life and this generally made me
feel less stressed and feel free in a way.
At the start of the semester, I had carried these skills forward and I was keeping on top of my
studies and also having the right balance of social life. In terms of Stephen Covey s Time
Management Matrix (SCTMM) (Chapman, n.d.), I would fall into Quadrant II

Descartes Dualism
In philosophy, dualism declares a radical difference between mind and matter ( Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). All dualists believe that the mind is separate from the brain (
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). Each dualist has their own view on the mind being a
product of the brain. Specifically, philosopher Rene Descartes believed that the souland body are
two different kinds of substances and neither needs the other in order to exist ( Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy. n.d.). Furthermore, Descartes dualismasserts that the mind, which is
non physical, and the body, which is physical, are separate entities ( Internet Encyclopedia of

The pineal gland is a pea sized organ placed at the center of the brain that played an important
role in Descartes philosophy (Lokhorst, 2005). He regarded it as the main seat of the soul and
the place in which all of our thoughts are formed (Lokhorst, 2005). Additionally, Descartes
affirmed that the pineal gland played a critical role, because it was involved in sensation,
imagination, memory, and the causation of bodily movement (Lokhorst, 2005). Descartes
believed that the pineal gland was suspended in the middle of the ventricles, which are fluid
filled cavities in the center of the brain (Lokhorst, 2005). However, this was proven to be false by
another philosopher, Aelius Galenus (Lokhorst, 2005). Secondly, Descartes believed that the pineal
gland was full of animal spirits, surrounded by several small arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Again,
Galenus proved this to be false, because the pineal gland is surrounded by veins, not arteries
(Lokhorst, 2005). Perhaps Descartes assumptions regarding the pineal gland were mistaken, due to
what was known at that time. Either way, Galenus had already explored the truths and function of
the pineal gland before

Seepage Control in Earthen Dams
Most dams in active use today exhibit seepage of one form or another. The location, rate of flow,
and turbidity (clear or murky) are the critical factors when evaluating the seriousness of seepage
from a dam. Seepage is the continuous movement of water from the upstream face of the dam
toward its downstream face, and is a major minor problem when it comes to the life span of dams
and embankments. It is a major minor problem because if controlled the affects are minor and not
hazardous, but if not controlled it can become a major problem and possibly result in failures.
Conditions of Seepage Most dams have some seepage through or around the embankment as a
result of water moving through the soil structure. If the seepage forces are ... Show more content on

Most failures caused by groundwater and seepage can be classified into one of two categories
based on the type of soil movement that is occurring. The failures will typically develop over a
relatively long period of time so there will be ample warning if routine inspections are performed.
The two categories of failure include those that take place when soil particles migrate to an escape
exit and cause piping or erosion failures, and those that are caused by uncontrolled seepage patterns
that lead to saturation, internal flooding, excessive uplift, or excessive seepage forces.
Controlling Seepage Regularly scheduled monitoring and inspection is essential to detect seepage
and prevent dam failure. Inspections should be made periodically throughout the year.
Frequency should be based on hazard classification of the dam. Higher classified dams should be
checked more common, compared to those that are lower hazard classified. At a minimum all
dams should be visually inspected at least every six months, before a predicted major storm
event, during or after severe rainstorms or snowmelts, and inspected weekly after construction is
complete and reservoir filling is ongoing, and for at least two months after the reservoir has been
filled. Dam inspections performed on a regular basis are the most economical aid a dam owner
can use to assure the safety and long life of the structure while reducing liability risks. If seepage

Brofenbrenner s Theory Of Microsystem Analysis
The two significant life events I chose to examine further are, when I met my fiancГ© and when
I received my GED. I chose these two events because they were the most life changing, I am a
better person for them. When I met my fiancГ©, I was at a horrible point in my life. When he
entered my life, he helped me get back on my feet. He was there for me when I could not depend
on anyone else and I am forever grateful to have met him. I also chose receiving my GED as
another pivotal life event. Obtaining my GED has opened the door for me to further my
education and it is something I would not have pursued if not for my fiancГ© s support. Passing
the test was one of my biggest achievements, and I am very proud of my score. If not for these
two major life changing events, I definitely would not be enrolled at Ashford, on my way to a
Bachelor s degree.

interconnected influences on human development, such as the interactions between individuals and
their environment (Mossler, 2013) While examining Brofenbrenner s rings influence on me

influence stems from the fact that we were introduced by mutual friends. The exosystem s
influence lies in the fact we grew up in the same neighborhood and come from the same economic

Antisocial Personality Disorder ( Aspd ) Exhibit
As defined by the American Psychiatric Association (2013), individuals diagnosed with antisocial
personality disorder (ASPD) exhibit a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the
rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood.
Individuals, both with and without ASPD, often find themselves facing stiff consequences when
they break the law by violating the rights of others. The propensity of individuals with ASPD to
break such laws is one possible explanation for the prevalence of ASPD increasing from a range
of 0.2% to 3.3% in the general population to 47% in prisons (American Psychiatric Association,
2013; Fazel Danesh, 2002). With such a disparity between the general and prison prevalence of
ASPD, it is clear that society is adroit in isolating the undesired behaviors of individuals with
ASPD; however, society also has a responsibility to protect the rights of those diagnosed with a
bonafide illness. If ASPD is the cause of an individual s incarceration, then their successful
reintegration into society relies on treating the underlying diagnosis, and in order to do that, it is
important to understand the neurobiological foundations of ASPD. Individuals with APSD exhibit
neuroanatomical differences compared with individuals without the diagnosis. Magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) studies have identified an 11.0% reduction in prefrontal gray matter in individuals
diagnosed with ASPD (Raine, Lencz, Bihrle, LaCasse,

(That may less of a problem, according to the investor Wilbur L. Ross, who told CNBC on
Tuesday that the company could sell eurodollar bonds, which may avoid incurring a steep tax
charge.)
Dell also had almost $5 billion in long term debt as of Nov. 2. That means the newly private
company would be highly indebted, though analysts at the ISI Group and Mizuho point out that the
company has respectable cash flow, generating about $3.7 billion in cash from operations during
that time.
The bigger question for the company is whether going private would solve any of the issues it
has faced for years. Its traditional business of making and selling personal computers has become
less and less profitable, and Dell has already been trying to move into the more lucrative and stable
market of providing hardware and software services for corporations. That s not something that
requires Dell to be private, however.
And there s also the question of whether a newly private Dell, forced to spend much of its revenue
on paying down its debt, would have money to invest in its business or pay for new acquisitions.
(Last year alone, the company struck 10 deals, including the $2.4 billion purchase of Quest
Software.)
Mr. Ross said on CNBC that he believed the chances of a deal coming together were about 50 50.

The Ecosystem of the Rainforest
The Ecosystem of the Rainforest
An ecosystem is a relationship among the living and non living organisms in a designated area and
the environment in which they interact with. It includes plants, trees, animals, water, and soil. The

ecosystem physically adapt to the rain.
The climate in the rainforest is very humid due the amount of rainfall. A tropical rainforestis very

Cutting down trees and bringing industrialization into the rainforest are destroying the natural
cycles of the rainforest. (Causes of Rainforest Destruction, n.d) Bringing commercial buildings into
the rainforest causes extremely unsafe emissions into the rainforest which is killing the wildlife and
well is the plants and trees.
As mentioned before animals and plants play a very important part in making sure that the
rainforest have energy to stay a life. If you take away trees and plants the animals will have
nothing to keep them alive they will not have food or a home to keep them warm, some animals
will move on and find new homes, but if you cut down trees and rip out planes then without all
of these things not just animals but humans also can t survive. If an animal s moves on and finds
new home outside the rainforest then the rainforest will lose the source of what gives it life and
energy and that can really hurt the rainforest. Biotic, meaning of or related to life, are living
factors. Plants, animals, fungi, protist and bacteria are all biotic or living factors. (Library
ThinkQuest n.d.) Life is always important no matter which life it is for the rainforest to keep its

Essay on Marriage in Pamela and Fanny Hill
Marriage is the only available and acceptable option for the eighteenth century heroine . Is this true?
Class and gender chiefly governed British society in the eighteenth century and the opportunities for
a woman to achieve social and financial security were scarce. In this society men of the upper class
governed the female identity. This patriarchal climate stipulated that, a respectable woman was
nothing but the potential mother of children (Blease 7). In the context of eighteenth century British
society, this prescribed duty implied marriage first and was shortly followed by procreation and
duties relating to family life. Although marriage and maternity provided the only socially

(Richardson). Thus, the only options available to Pamela that would not guarantee her ruin were to
cling to her virtue or solidify her position through marriage.
While Pamela s upstanding virtue provides the model behaviour for young ladies of the time,
Cleland s heroine sustains herself through the socially unacceptable act of prostitution. Although
Fanny Hill is a pornographic novel intended to arouse its male readership, Cleland s text is
essentially anti Pamelist in its account of Fanny s life. Richardson offers his heroine multiple
opportunities to flee the unwelcome advances of Mr B from Mr William s proposal of marriage
to Mr B s offer to take Pamela as his mistress, both of which she refuses. Fanny, on the other hand,
is forced out of poverty into the line of sex work. She relinquishes her hold on virtue, telling the
reader that

Non-Injection Illicit Drugs In Efv
According to the guidelines for the use of antiretroviral agents in HIV 1 infected adults and
adolescent, St John s Wort should not be used with EFV, ETR, NVP, RPV because it lowers

Methadone and Antiretroviral Therapy Methadone is an opioid agonist and the most common used
treatment for opioid addiction. Its use causes decreased heroin use and it improves quality of life
in people with HIV. It effects gastric emptying and it is a substrate for CYP enzyme, there will be
drug drug interactions with ARTs. Since we have Efavirenz (EFV) in our case which decreases
methadone levels due to it induces the enzymes in the liver. Therefore, PCPs and substance abuse
treatment facilities should be notified that there is a drug interactions and co administration should
be managed by increasing the methadone dosage such as usually from 5 mg to 10 mg daily until
the desired effect is achieved (Council, 2011, p.I 16). PCPs should realized these side effects
including the increased risk of toxicities. Nursing interventions should be taken such as to have
ARV agents that have a lower risk of hepatic and neuropsychiatric side effects, simple dosing
schedules, and minimal interaction with methadone. In contrast to Methadone, Suboxone

Music History Final Paper

When and why did Ravel compose Ma mГЁre l Oye (Mother Goose Suites)? How does each
movement of the piece convey the story line of the fairytales? Compare and contrast the piano
version vs. the orchestrated version of the piece.
Ravel began writing Ma mГЁre l Oye between the years 1908 and 1910 as a four hand piano
suite meant for children, which later grew into a fully orchestrated 5 movement ballet with the
help of Jacques RouchГ©. Ravel began composing the piano suite for one of his dear friend s
children. After the piece premiered in 1910, it became very popular which then called for
Jacques RouchГ© s attention. He believed the piece could be reworked and orchestrated for a
ballet. Ravel had to face the challenge of turning the piano suite into a work of art set for a
bigger stage. While Ravel composed he knew he had to come up with a narrative for the ballet.
He still wanted to maintain the youthfulness, and child like fun of the piece by creating a story
based off of the story of Sleeping Beauty. The Suite is made up of five movements which are: 1. La
pavane de la Belle au bois dormant (Pavane of the Sleeping Beauty) 2. Petit Poucet (Tom Thumb)
3. Laideronnette, ImpГ©ratrice des Pagodes ( Little Ugly One, Empress of the Pagodas) 4. Les

The Song TKO By Justin Timberlake
The song TKO by Justin Timberlake reflects the pain a man can suffer by the woman he loves.
This is a song that Othello would listen to because he feels betrayed by his beloved wife
Desdemona. During the song, Justin sings, It cuts right on my eye, yeah it hurt/Still can t see

Desdemonais cheating on him with his ex lieutenant Cassio. As a result, Othello breaks down and
states, She s gone. I am abus d, and my relief/Must be to loathe her. (3.3.262 266). Therefore, this is

to his self destructing relationship with Desdemona.

Ego Vs Ego
In modern society, the influences of ego have been increasingly important for people to address
because the degree of ego determines people s individual and social development. This essay
focuses on the negative influences of high level of ego, which is egotism. It is defined as high
level of selfishness. In the meantime, the discussion of ego and superego is also introduced.
Ego is defined as the true self of personality that makes people look for pleasure and selfish goals
while superego refers to the part which makes people seek for morality and consciousness.
Superego is formed in early life by parental education and can help people by stopping egotism.

The result of this is that they cannot judge or think about this world from an objective point of
view. Egotism can blind people and prevent people in different ways, such as personal
development. An online article on the website of GoodNewsNetwork confirmed why egotism
can blind people: the ego mind isn t contributing to humanity and isn t able to look at the world
as a whole. It s only able to look at a fragmented piece of the whole that it identifies as Me
(GoodNewsNetwork 9). So, egotism must be removed or we will not really be able to reflect on
ourselves nor think about other things properly. Holiday explained the urgency of removing
ego: Ego is the enemy of what you want and of what you have. It repulses advantages and
opportunities. It s a magnet for enemies and errors (Holiday 150). If a person only let the
egotism lead himself, he will only take care of himself regardless of other people s feelings
because he will only react to his own emotions and principles for pleasure. This leads to the third
harmful influence of social disconnection. Human s personality is divided into ego and super ego
(Simply Psychology 5). If a person just let the ego rule himself, he will only take care of himself
regardless of thinking about other people s feelings. This can break down his

his epiphany on society as life and death would influence it. Bei Dao shows a man looking
through a third eye or inner eye view, a very mystical and spiritual way to look at life that only
the most enlightened peoples have been able to observe. The poem by Bei Dao starts off by a

life. They are judging to see if he will make the right choice, to see if he has made the right

last line of the poem Dao states a very powerful line the exile of words has begun (Dao 326).
There is no more talking, no more waiting its do or die from here on out. The man starts to

poem is about great strife in one mans life and shows how one single outlook or journey can

may even be reduced. As the population of an economy becomes wealthier, many prefer to live in
the cleaner and quieter environments of the countryside. Thus, employees need to commute into
cities for work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car
ownership, are only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other
hand, still continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European
countries during the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the
world are currently experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike
the experience of currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place
in developing countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence
of growing population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has
largely taken place as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour
Organization 1998). Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least
urbanized countries in the world. In Ethiopia, Informal settlement is socially, politically and
economically growing problems, usually referred to residential areas where a group of housing
units have been constructed on land to which the occupants have no legal claim or which they
occupy illegally. Using the Ethiopian

Abstract This paper describes an eye movement method based on electrooculography (EOG) to
develop a system for assisting disabled people. Its most important features are mobility, portability,
modularity which making it adaptable to the particular needs of each user according to the type of
handicap involved. A human machine interfaces (HMI) is a system that provides an output channel
for the brain and does not depend on peripheral muscles and nerves. We are focusing the mainly on
EOG signals for the human machine interface for controlling a wheelchair , where the control is
actually effected by eye movements . This device includes wireless EOG signal acquisition
components, electrodes and an EOG signal classification algorithm. The EOG classification
algorithm is based on extracting features from the electrical signals corresponding to four directions
of eye movement (up, down, left, right) .this control technique could be useful in multiple
applications, such as mobility and communication aid for handicapped persons.

What Is the Current Laws Relating to the Implication of...
The current Victorian laws on the implication of the duty of good faith in commercial contracts
run in parallel with Commonwealth laws in this area. In both jurisdictions the law in respect to
both the scope and nature of the duty of good faith is relatively unsettled. Judicial and
jurisdictional discrepancies surrounding rulings on the duty of good faith is evident. This is the
case even though the High Court of Australia has acknowledged the existence and potential scope
of the duty of good faith as important issues It is yet to expressly consider the matter in detail . As
such, debate in various Australian authorities concerning the existence and content of the

varying judgments on the scope, interpretation and application of the implied duty of good faith in
a commercial context. Victoria has diverged most notably from the NSW interpretation whereby
Victoria generally implies the duty of good faith in fact rather than in law . Currently, there is
much debate over what constitutes good faith . However, both jurisdictions have tended to agree
on the conflated nature of the concepts of the implied terms of good faith and reasonableness and
the obligation requiring parties to not act capriciously . The courts also tend to share a reluctance
to conclude that commercial contracts are of the class which requires the universal implication of
the duty of good faith . However,

Chipotle Mexican Grill as a company is not immune to these issues and has its own fair share of
challenges. The first and most important challenge facing Chipotle is the sourcing of their food
ingredients. When the company first came into existence, it sourced its ingredients from every
and all available sources just like all other fast food companies. This changed in 1999 after
Founder Steve Ells visited a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFOs). He was not too
impressed and changed his company s food sources to organic. All of Chipotle s pork is 100%
organic as well as 80% of its chicken and 85% of its beef. The company served 100% of all meat
sources but had to make adjustments as demand exceeded supply. The company served over 60
million pounds of meat in 2009 and over 75 million pounds in 2010. Maintaining such high
numbers in the use of organic meat and produce is next to impossible and as witnessed, the
company is already incorporating non organic sources. A solution to this debacle would be to
outsource organic produce from neighboring countries such as Mexico and Canada. The only
foreseeable obstacle to this approach would be cost of transportation of the livestock (either alive
or in a finished package ). This would go a long way in ensuring that the company remains true to
its mission statement and actually serve to customers what they are

what the next step? It can only go south from here. No one should struggle to find a place to live

Research Paper On Mermaids
The ocean is explored less than five percent and ninety five percent of this realm remains
unexplored and primarily mysterious. For the most part, we clearly do not have enough data and an
indication of numerous odd occurrences beneath the ocean. Though, many people have witnessed
many peculiar creatures in the ocean. By that, I mean the Mermaids, Merman, the Loch Ness
Monster, Sea Serpents, Sirens and many more. Various people matter of factly claimed to have seen
one, but others believe that it s just a myth, or they have claimed that it was a figment of one s
imagination. Mermaids, in general, are unique and mysterious creatures and with their beguiling
personalities, fascinating history and origin. They are well known throughout several

The Misusing of Prescription Drugs
Eckhart Tolle once said Every addiction arises from an unconscious refusal to face and move
through your own pain. Every addiction starts with pain and ends with pain. Whatever the
substance you are addicted to alcohol, food, legal, or illegal drugs, or a person you are using
something or somebody to cover up your pain. As time continues to past the amount of people that
misuse or abuse prescription drugsincreasing rapidly. This has become a huge issue with teens
because they are always looking for a way to fit in with their peers. Drugs are misused for many
different purposes because of the way today s society is set up. As an alternative to practicing more
or studying to improve in ones performance, teens have begun to misuse prescription drugs in order
to enhance their performance in their school work and extra curriculum activities instead. A drug
known as kiddie speed is often used to help increase the concentration level of a teen during a
test. In schools it is one of the most common drugs found being misused because children have
easy access to it from either having it prescribed to them for a disorder or because it s laying
around their households. Not only do young people have access to the drugs at home but at school
they can purchase the pills from peers up to $2 each for the tablets (Watt 1). Not only do teens use
prescription drugs to increase their concentration but some critics would suggest that steroids are
the only type of drug misused to

The World That Are Worse Than War
There aren t many things in this world that are worse than war. The proliferation of violence and
the deliberate destruction of human beings in the twentieth century were all made possible by
various groups and individuals. Conformity, prejudice, and desperation among populations all
contribute to violence and mass murder, but often the other side of the coin goes unnoticed. The
groups and individuals responsible can of course escalate acts of mass violence, but they also have
the power to stop and prevent the crimes against humanity in our history and in our future as well.

Beginning with the genesis of the Khmer Rouge, it will become clear that Cambodians endured a
period of time in which radical events might seem inevitable.
The Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK), known also as the Khmer Rouge, emerged from
Cambodia s difficulties living as a French colony. Throughout the 1940 s, the Cambodian
communist movement was influenced by radical Vietnamese across the border. In the 1950 s,
the Indochina War set the stage for CPK to grow stronger over the next two decades. What
began as an outlying movement toward Communism, slowly formed into the radicalized force
that later controlled a nation of people. The CPK took control of Cambodia on April 17, 1975
and created the Democratic Kampuchea in 1976. The CPK was kept a secret until 1977, and
there was no way for anyone outside of the CPK to know who the party leaders were. Cambodia
under the power of the Khmer Rouge suffered immensely. Policies enforced massacres, torture,
and repression. Cambodia was turned into a massive detention center as well as a graveyard for
almost two million people. In March 1970, Marshal Lon Nol, a Cambodian who had formerly
served as prime minister, successfully executed a coup that took Prince Sihanouk out of power.
Nol was aided by pro American associates. While power in Cambodia was shuffling, the Khmer
Rouge had been gaining popularity and members to the point where they were a major player in the

Examples Of Alliteration In The God Of Small Things
In The God of Small Things, Arundhati Roy describes the destruction of Velutha, an untouchable,
who is a member of the lowest social division of the Indian caste system. Velutha is marginalized
and killed by police officers who help maintain the caste system in India. Roy uses imagery,
alliteration, and juxtaposition to demonstrate that Velutha s brutal death is determined by his social
position.
The gory imagery of Velutha s body being broken and shattered is presented throughout this passage
to illustrate the significance of Velutha s death as the god of small things. In the first line of the
passage, Roy presents a vivid visual image when explaining how the police officers woke Velutha
up. Roy writes, They woke up Velutha with their boots ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roy s contrast with soft and hard things creates suspense for the readers to engage with: They
heard the thud of wood on flesh (Roy 292). This passage creates vivid images to compare how a
human s soft tissue can be beaten by something hard as wood. Throughout the passage
juxtaposition is utilized as Roy says, Boots on Bone. On teeth (Roy 292). This line shows
violence in the sense of relating to Velutha ferocious beating as a subhuman since he is an
untouchable in the Indian society. The policemen s forcible boots damage a good man whose faith
depends on the status of his social class. Juxtaposition is also found when Roy says The muted
crunch of skull on cement (Roy 292). This creates an image of Velutha s fragile human skull
being hit by hard cement that is used to break his skull. The juxtaposition used in this passage is
so vivid and important that it portrays Velutha s destruction in great detail that shows the light vs
the darkness. Her details help readers make a sense of what Velutha is going through. Roy
compares the frailty of a human s body and hard things that are used in this passage to destroy

an increased chance of chromosome abnormalities like down syndrome.

Essay on Margaret Thatcher s Climb to Power of Prime Minister
Margaret Thatcher as Margaret Hilda Roberts was born October 13, 1925 in Grantham, England
to Alfred Roberts, a grocer, preacher, and local mayor, and Beatrice Ethel. She, along with her
younger sister, Muriel, spent most of their childhood in Grantham, helping with their father s
grocery business. Margaret s father was active in local politics and brought up Margaret and
Muriel as strict Methodists. He became Mayor of Grantham in 1945, but lost his position as
alderman in 1952, when the Labor Party came into power. Margaret won a scholarship to
Kesteven and Grantham Girls School, where she was head girl for the academic year 1942 1943.

In 1970, Margaret Thatcher, as the Minister for Education, encouraged an increase in the
education budget and the creation of more schools. However, her tryst with infamy began when
she earned the title Thatcher, the Milk Snatcher when she abolished a scheme providing free
milk to primary school children during school hours. Margaret attracted a lot of negative
publicity for her impetuous actions. Due to frustration with then Prime Minister Edward Heath
and his contrasting ideas, she ironically announced, I don t think there will be a woman prime
minister in my lifetime in 1973. On October 12, 1984 the Irish Republican Army planted a bomb
in the hotel Thatcher was staying at in an attempt to assassinate her. In 1974, the Conservative
Party lost their power and Margaret soon became a dominant extortion in her political field. She
was elected as leader of the Conservative Party in 1975, victoriously beating Edward Heath and
became the first woman to serve as the opposition leader in the House of Commons, succeeding
130 votes against 119. Thatcher was finally appointed as the Prime Minister on May 4, 1979,
defeating the opposition party which was unpopular and separated. In 1979, Britain s economy was
in a critical financial crisis and Thatcher s first term in office saw her adopting a new economic

The Downsides to Globalization
Does your friend that lives across the globe have the same branded shirt as you? Does she drink
Starbucks every morning like you? Does she watch the same videos on YouTube like you? How
does your friend have the same things as you but she is halfway across Earth? This is happening
because the world has aided in the homogenization of people and culture. Through internet and
other advancing technology and social media interaction among people has become easier. This
process is known as cultural globalizationbecause the whole world is leading to a single culture.
Globalization should be stopped since it is making cultures lose their identity and significance in
this world, and allows technology todays manufacture and global media to gain control over small
businessand many different aspects of people s life.
Cultural globalization has its own pros and cons. Cultures and societies can be brought together
through globalization. Because of the Revolution in Information Technology it has become easier
to communicate and connect with people of different cultures across the global. Through this
cultural diffusion societies are feeling similar and will become united. People from all of these
different nations will feel together rather than an outcast and eventually eradicate racism and
discrimination (Sofree). Globalization can lead to freedom from custom and have exposure to
alternative ways of life and thought will help increase global awareness and appreciate to

How To Describe An American Culture
As Americans we do not realize how high maintenance we are. If I am at a restaurant and my food
comes out wrong I am immediately going to tell my server. Some may even rudely confront them
without hesitation. In Honduras, this situation would be handled differently. Most Hondurans are
not worried about going out to dinner, they are more concerned about whether or not they will have
a single meal a day.
While walking through the streets of Copan Ruins, Honduras there are small tables set up with
women selling handmade items. They act as if they enjoy what they are doing and are willing to
lower the price of an item if needed. It is not very liable to come across a vender in Florence,
Alabama. In America there are times when you walk in a store and the ... Show more content on

opportunity. However, if kids in America went from living the way they do now to living with no
toys, electronics, or food to eat they would not know how to be happy. Here in the United States it is
not an everyday thing to come across a woman openly breastfeeding her child in a public area,
but a Honduran mother sees nothing wrong with this action. Along with this there are many ways
our gestures and actions differ from the Hondurans. In Honduras there are chances of being
greeted by a hug and a kiss on the cheek when first meeting someone. Unless it is by a family

Summary Of Rhetorical Strategies
Many authors have found that persuading an audience is sometimes the easiest way to grasp the
attention of many and do so by using logos, pathos and ethos techniques. Sometimes misleading
and based around personal opinions, understanding the initial reasons for using these strategies can
explain why they are used. Based on my research these rhetorical strategies can be found
throughout all three videos provided. The first two videos titled Drunk History Claudette Colvin
and Rosa Parks and Drunk History John Adams vs. Thomas Jefferson showed the least amount of
these strategies, while the last video Breaking News: Some Bullshit Happening Somewhere
provides the best demonstration of the use of rhetoric.

The Chinese Experience In 19th Century America Summary
The Chinese left their home in China to make their way to America. Most of them came from poor
provinces in China such as Canton or now known as Guangzhou. Along with the Chinese came their
different culture and different religions; like Buddhism, believed that life is filled with suffering
only to be caused by desire and the only way to end this is through enlightenment. On the other
hand, Taoism was another religion the Chinese believed in and this was based upon the writings of
philosopher, Lao Tzu. Beside from Buddhism and Taoism, According to the article, Chinese
Immigration in the United States, the author states, The majority of Chinese Americans could be

Clarity Project Paper
The Auditing Standards Board has launched the Clarity Project (Lindberg Seifert, 2011) which is
an effort to make the U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (U.S. GAAS) easier to
comprehend in the eyes of non public businesses. The Clarity Project will result in the first
complete redrafting and recodification of U.S. GAAS since 1972 (Morris Thomas, 2011, para. 2).
Four of the most significant changes are: changing the format of the standards so they are more
consistent and readable, the wording in the auditor s report, group auditstandards, and the
authoritative status on the 10 generally accepted auditingstandards (Morris Thomas, 2011). The
Clarity Project also includes the process of integrating the U.S. GAAS with International Standards
on Auditing (ISA).
There are five key topics for comparison between ISA and U.S. Auditing Standards. The U.S.
Auditing Standards is broken up between two groups: Auditing Standards Boards (ASB) and
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). ASB is the authoritative group for non
public companies. PCAOB is the authoritative group for public companies. PCAOB was formed
from the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) (Lindberg Seifert, 2011). The five key topics to
compare ISA and US GAAS are: documentation of audit procedures, going concern considerations,
internal control over financial reporting, risk assessment, and use of another auditor. Let s discuss
each of them below.
The first topic for comparison is

Essay on Zulu Religion
Zulu Religion
Religion in the broadest sense may be defined as man s attitude towards the unseen, and the earliest
forms of human thought furnish the clue from which must be traced the development of those great
systems of religion that have at different time periods been professed by certain groups of people.
The term religion must also include, not only beliefs in unseen spiritual agencies, but numerous
customs, superstitions, and myths which have usually been regarded by the people of the specific
society or community. As far as, Zulu religion goes, there are many different opinions about the
origin and historical content. Since many of the beliefs and traditions were passed orally, there are

This is not descriptive of Zulu concepts which, as the study will be showing, assume a very
close and intimate relationship and association with the lineage between the departed and their
survivors (29). Even though there are doubts about Zulu traditional religion, most studies appear
to confirm the fact that belief in a sky deity is and always has been central to Zulu religious
thought. Unkulunkulu (the old, old one) is the Creator of First Cause. If a Zulu is asked about
the origin of man and the world, he will say Unkulunkulu the Zulu people believe in a power
which they call Heaven or The Lord of Heaven (Krige 282). Other researchers argue that all the
Bantu further have some conception, generally rather vague, of a supreme power. . . The Zulu
have a sky god. . . the Lord of Heaven (Shapera 262). Quite clearly the existence of a Zulu belief
in a sky deity is well established in the literature on both the Zulu people in particular and African
religions in general. The earliest period of recorded contact between Zulu and European cultures
gives some information about Zulu religious beliefs. This evidence, however, is culturally bias
because of the European stereotypes and expectations. Nathaniel Isaacs, a European trader, visited
Shaka, the Zulu king, and developed a strong friendship with him. In gratitude for assistance in a
battle against his enemies Shake made him a minor chief,
eventually granting him a strip of land around the coast

  • 2. Analysis Of Sue Monk Kidd s Novel And The Invention Of Wings Sue Monk Kidd s novel, The Invention of Wings was published in 2014, and Jack Kerouac s On the Road had been published in 1957; however, even with fifty seven year difference between their publication dates Kidd and Kerouac carried one central theme in their novels, and that is the idea of a journey. The link between the journeys in these books is noted by the major characters desire to see life as they imagine it to be; for Kidd s character, it is not only about the chance to escape slavery, but also the chance to experience life the with the opportunity to life the life her mother had told her about before she passed away. For Kerouac s characters, the major character in particular, the journey is the same in his desire not to be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Handful recalls, She [Sarah Grimke] was trapped same as me, but she was trapped by her mind, by the minds of the people round her, not by the law. At the African church, Mr. Vesey used to say. Be careful, you can get enslaved twice, once in your body and once in your mind (Kidd 201). Handful s spiritual growth allowed her to escape both mental and physical bondage, because she carefully listened to the words of Mr. Vesey, paid close attention to her mother s words, and studied her owner s (Sarah Grimke) thoughts on slavery and her own freedom. Sarah Grimke is a nonfictional character in Wings. She was born in 1792 and was a member of a wealth and prominent family in Charleston, South Carolina. Handful is a fictional character who discerns that Sarah didn t like owning slaves. An example of this is made apparent during a discussion Sarah has with her mother when she says Mother, please, let me......let me give Hetty back to you. Upon contemplating her words Sarah then thinks, Give Hetty back. As if she was mine after all. As if owning people was as natural as breathing. For all my resistance about slavery, I breathed that foul air, too (16). Handful intuitiveness assisted her in seeing that Sarah was a slave also. She said to Sarah, My body might be a slave, but not my mind. For you, it s the other way round (201). Mentally, Grimke was a slave to man s laws, as she had to contend with the owning a slave opposed to being a physical one. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Two Reasons God Asked To Create Eve God waited to create Eve for 2 reasons: First, God wanted Adam to experience how it was to be alone and to feel that something was missing . Secondly, God wanted Adam to love Him completely before loving anyone else. On the sixth day, God created humans to His image. However, not a lot of people will notice that Eve was not created at the same time as Adamof even immediately after him. God waited a bit to create her. Only God knows what His true and real reasons were but in this essay, I will expand on the 2 reasons that I believe are the reasons why God waited to create Eve. Evidence of these two points is found in Genesis 2 and 3. My first point is that God waited to create Eve for a while was so that Adam would know how it was to be... Just like today, we feel that something is missing but we re not sure what it may be. That s how I think Adam was feeling. Genesis 3 quotes that Adam had exclaimed with joy that finally someone was made of himself and he called her woman. While exclaiming in joy, the feeling that something was missing was no longer there and he felt complete. Patch Adams Patch Study Guide Based, loosely, on a true story, Patch Adams follows Hunter Patch Adams (played by Robin Williams), a medical doctor famous for his use of humor in the healing process. Adams, following a suicide attempt, checks himself into a psychiatric hospital, where he learns the power of humor and laughter on a patients quality of life and earns the nickname Patch for fixing another patient s cup. Now inspired to become a doctor, two years following his institutionalization, Adams enrolls in Virginia Medical University, where he is the oldest first year student. He tells the jury that he did his best to help his patients and insisted that, though treating the body is win or lose, treating the spirit is always a win, even when death is the outcome. He encourages the jury and other medical students to cultivate relationships with their patients and treat death with dignity and humor. The jury takes Adams s side in the proceedings, agrees in the utility and correctness of his methods, and rules that Adams be allowed to graduate. • 5. Plato s Phaedo For The Immortality Of The Soul Plato s final argument in Phaedo for the immortality of the soul is one of the most interesting topics of all time. The argument of whether the soul exists has been debated for years and even today. It goes hand to hand with the application of the theory of forms to the question of the soul s immortality, as Plato constantly reminds us, the theory of forms is the most certain of all his theories. The Phaedo is Plato s attempt to convince us of the immortality of the soulby using several main arguments. These include the argument of forms and the law of opposites. In the final passage of the Phaedo, Plato provides his final proof, although it may be his last attempt to give his reasoning, it is not very convincing. Plato has some good points and reasoning to believe in the immortality of the soul, but his arguments often seem to make large assumptions without any concrete evidence. Is the argument valid? In this essay I will attempt to expose some flaws in Plato s argument while showing how the conclusion can still be convincing for some. According to Plato talking through Socrates, whenever a soul occupies a body, it always brings life with it. This means that the soul is connected with life, and so cannot admit its opposite which is death. If it does not admit the form of evenness and is uneven, according to Socrates, then it follows that the soul, which does not admit of death, cannot die. It must either withdraw or disappear at the approach of death. If the soul is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

E Commerce Security Threats And The Solutions Essay During the early 1960 s, E Commerce businesses conducted electronic transactions via primitive computer networks but the way these transactions were exchanged provided little to no security(34).This made online transactions on WWW(World Wide Web), not reliable and unsecured making consumers eager to not take the chance of risking their information, on an unprotected system. During the early 1960 s came Electronic Data Interchange(EDI). EDI replaced traditional mailing and faxing of documents with a digital transfer of data from one computer to another .(35)This was the first step toward the E Commerce that is present today. Then the influential SSL protocol would come to be which helped to improve the state of security on the WWW. This led to more protocols being introduced, leading to other detrimental protocols such as (3D Secure, TLS, SET). These protocols, that were just mentioned are still widely used today. This paper will go over the threats and the solutions of E Commerce security. E Commerce security threats according to FindLaw UK, major threats to E Commerce can be grouped into two categories, malicious and accidental threats .(34) The first threat gone over will be malicious threats which include hackers attempting to penetrate a system and steal sensitive data, burglars stealing a laptop that has sensitive data on it and impostors posing as legitimate users and then copying website information .(34)Another major threat to E Commerce involves attackers ... Travels Of A T-Shirt In The Global Economy Summary Pietra Rivoli, the author of The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, utilized her personal investigation of how the t shirt was created (Rivoli, X). By her putting herself in the different locations where the shirt process is made, truly provides an eye opening view on the situation. Rivoli saw how researches would simply collect statistical data but not have personal observations on what was happening. There are many people who are looking at sweatshops from afar and assuming only negative aspects about them. Granted, while sweatshops by all means are not a luxurious work environments, there are components that the economic and politic data is not able to fully capture. Throughout Rivoli s book, there is the central theme that poorer countries could be relatively improved by the opportunities that they are provided with the jobs in the process of manufacturing a shirt. Joseph Campbell said A hero is someone who as given his or her life to something bigger than oneself . It is very clear that both Marlow and Kurtz the two main characters in the story are thought of as heroes. Everyone has a different idea on who the hero might be and whom he or she thinks it should be. Given there are many different definitions for hero and you can look at each character differently. I feel like it is hard to choose a hero because they both have so many flaws. Your first thought while reading the book would be that Marlow is the hero since he is the narrator for 95% of the book, but if you think deeper and think as the characters in Heart of Darknessyou would see Kurtz as being the hero. The main thing about being a hero is that all the readers and characters should know who it is and it should be very obvious by the end of the book. After reading and thinking of the book, I have come to the conclusion that neither of them are heroes throughout the book but at the end of the book we realize that Marlow is a hero after all. Marlow is one of the first characters we meet in the book. He is a sailor who is being sent of to the Congo to sail a steamboat but throughout his journey finds many obstacles. • 9. Characteristics Of An Ideal City What factors do you expect from a city? Easy public transport? easy to access food? Decent entertainment and community centres? A large city would be an easy place to find all these. One of the key factors about the city is to find a job for survival. Finding a job is easier since more jobs are probably available. When you get a job and if you dislike it or get fired, you will have more choices. Another important factor is access in the city with ease, such as easy availability of trams/trains/taxi because sometimes you forget something at the grocery store or you are invited somewhere last minute. This is convenient for anyone lacking a vehicle. The city should have good quality control. Anything factory made or cooked in the city would be handled by professionals. In an ideal city, you should not travel long distances for common items such as clothes, last minute groceries, the bank or any other company services. There should be banks, insurances or other customer services companies in the town ready to assist you. Also in the unlikely event of an emergency, pharmacies, hospitals and medicine should be easily accessible. Traveling should happen without any problems, so you will be able to catch a last minute flight. Also, the city should have more advanced development: buildings, population and economy. These factors are very important for a region to become a suitable comfortable place to live. More buildings such as schools and hospitals will help in growing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Russian Revolution Of 1917 The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and marked the beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of investigation as it is arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it helped shape many other subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War. The Bolsheviks triumph can be accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism; the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks compared to the downfalls of the Provisional Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover. There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such as the backwardness of Russian society, the failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of government which caused grievances amongst the people. The Russian public desired political change, whether towards a more democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more socialist revolution in which power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why Tsarism collapsed, it is crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led to the Tsar s weaknesses in his control of the government. Russia at this time was a backwards and provincial society: encompassing a vast expanse of territory, the towns were underdeveloped and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All dualists believe that the mind is separate from the brain ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.). Each dualist has their own view on the mind being a product of the brain. Specifically, philosopher Rene Descartes believed that the souland body are two different kinds of substances and neither needs the other in order to exist ( Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy. n.d.). The pineal gland is a pea sized organ placed at the center of the brain that played an important role in Descartes philosophy (Lokhorst, 2005). He regarded it as the main seat of the soul and the place in which all of our thoughts are formed (Lokhorst, 2005). Additionally, Descartes affirmed that the pineal gland played a critical role, because it was involved in sensation, imagination, memory, and the causation of bodily movement (Lokhorst, 2005). Descartes believed that the pineal gland was suspended in the middle of the ventricles, which are fluid filled cavities in the center of the brain (Lokhorst, 2005). However, this was proven to be false by another philosopher, Aelius Galenus (Lokhorst, 2005). Secondly, Descartes believed that the pineal gland was full of animal spirits, surrounded by several small arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Again, Galenus proved this to be false, because the pineal gland is surrounded by veins, not arteries (Lokhorst, 2005). Perhaps Descartes assumptions regarding the pineal gland were mistaken, due to what was known at that time. • 13. Seepage Control in Earthen Dams Most dams in active use today exhibit seepage of one form or another. The location, rate of flow, and turbidity (clear or murky) are the critical factors when evaluating the seriousness of seepage from a dam. Seepage is the continuous movement of water from the upstream face of the dam toward its downstream face, and is a major minor problem when it comes to the life span of dams and embankments. It is a major minor problem because if controlled the affects are minor and not hazardous, but if not controlled it can become a major problem and possibly result in failures. Conditions of Seepage Most dams have some seepage through or around the embankment as a result of water moving through the soil structure. If the seepage forces are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most failures caused by groundwater and seepage can be classified into one of two categories based on the type of soil movement that is occurring. The failures will typically develop over a relatively long period of time so there will be ample warning if routine inspections are performed. The two categories of failure include those that take place when soil particles migrate to an escape exit and cause piping or erosion failures, and those that are caused by uncontrolled seepage patterns that lead to saturation, internal flooding, excessive uplift, or excessive seepage forces. Controlling Seepage Regularly scheduled monitoring and inspection is essential to detect seepage and prevent dam failure. Inspections should be made periodically throughout the year. Frequency should be based on hazard classification of the dam. Higher classified dams should be checked more common, compared to those that are lower hazard classified. At a minimum all dams should be visually inspected at least every six months, before a predicted major storm event, during or after severe rainstorms or snowmelts, and inspected weekly after construction is complete and reservoir filling is ongoing, and for at least two months after the reservoir has been filled. Dam inspections performed on a regular basis are the most economical aid a dam owner can use to assure the safety and long life of the structure while reducing liability risks. I chose these two events because they were the most life changing, I am a better person for them. When I met my fiancГ©, I was at a horrible point in my life. When he entered my life, he helped me get back on my feet. He was there for me when I could not depend on anyone else and I am forever grateful to have met him. I also chose receiving my GED as another pivotal life event. Obtaining my GED has opened the door for me to further my education and it is something I would not have pursued if not for my fiancГ© s support. Passing the test was one of my biggest achievements, and I am very proud of my score. If not for these two major life changing events, I definitely would not be enrolled at Ashford, on my way to a Bachelor s degree. Urie Brofenbrenner proposed a theory of five overlapping ecological systems. They focus on broad, interconnected influences on human development, such as the interactions between individuals and their environment (Mossler, 2013) While examining Brofenbrenner s rings influence on me meeting my fiancГ©, John, I discovered how much society comes into play. The microsystems influence stems from the fact that we were introduced by mutual friends. The exosystem s influence lies in the fact we grew up in the same neighborhood and come from the same economic standings. • 16. Antisocial Personality Disorder ( Aspd ) Exhibit As defined by the American Psychiatric Association (2013), individuals diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) exhibit a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood. Individuals, both with and without ASPD, often find themselves facing stiff consequences when they break the law by violating the rights of others. The propensity of individuals with ASPD to break such laws is one possible explanation for the prevalence of ASPD increasing from a range of 0.2% to 3.3% in the general population to 47% in prisons (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Fazel Danesh, 2002). With such a disparity between the general and prison prevalence of ASPD, it is clear that society is adroit in isolating the undesired behaviors of individuals with ASPD; however, society also has a responsibility to protect the rights of those diagnosed with a bonafide illness. If ASPD is the cause of an individual s incarceration, then their successful reintegration into society relies on treating the underlying diagnosis, and in order to do that, it is important to understand the neurobiological foundations of ASPD. Individuals with APSD exhibit neuroanatomical differences compared with individuals without the diagnosis. That means the newly private company would be highly indebted, though analysts at the ISI Group and Mizuho point out that the company has respectable cash flow, generating about $3.7 billion in cash from operations during that time. The bigger question for the company is whether going private would solve any of the issues it has faced for years. • 20. Essay on Marriage in Pamela and Fanny Hill Marriage is the only available and acceptable option for the eighteenth century heroine . Is this true? Class and gender chiefly governed British society in the eighteenth century and the opportunities for a woman to achieve social and financial security were scarce. In this society men of the upper class governed the female identity. This patriarchal climate stipulated that, a respectable woman was nothing but the potential mother of children (Blease 7). In the context of eighteenth century British society, this prescribed duty implied marriage first and was shortly followed by procreation and duties relating to family life. Although marriage and maternity provided the only socially acceptable path for women during this time, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pamela equates being kept mistress to slavery and confides in her parents claiming that she would rather be obliged to wear rags, and live upon rye bread and water, as I used to do, than to be a harlot to the greatest man in the world (Richardson). As a lower class servant girl, becoming a mistress to a powerful aristocratic gentleman had the potential to invite [Pamela s] ruin (Richardson). Thus, the only options available to Pamela that would not guarantee her ruin were to cling to her virtue or solidify her position through marriage. While Pamela s upstanding virtue provides the model behaviour for young ladies of the time, Cleland s heroine sustains herself through the socially unacceptable act of prostitution. Although Fanny Hill is a pornographic novel intended to arouse its male readership, Cleland s text is essentially anti Pamelist in its account of Fanny s life. Richardson offers his heroine multiple opportunities to flee the unwelcome advances of Mr B from Mr William s proposal of marriage to Mr B s offer to take Pamela as his mistress, both of which she refuses. Fanny, on the other hand, is forced out of poverty into the line of sex work. She relinquishes her hold on virtue, telling the reader that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How does each movement of the piece convey the story line of the fairytales? Compare and contrast the piano version vs. the orchestrated version of the piece. Ravel began writing Ma mГЁre l Oye between the years 1908 and 1910 as a four hand piano suite meant for children, which later grew into a fully orchestrated 5 movement ballet with the help of Jacques RouchГ©. Ravel began composing the piano suite for one of his dear friend s children. After the piece premiered in 1910, it became very popular which then called for Jacques RouchГ© s attention. He believed the piece could be reworked and orchestrated for a ballet. Ravel had to face the challenge of turning the piano suite into a work of art set for a bigger stage. While Ravel composed he knew he had to come up with a narrative for the ballet. He still wanted to maintain the youthfulness, and child like fun of the piece by creating a story based off of the story of Sleeping Beauty. The Suite is made up of five movements which are: 1. Thus, employees need to commute into cities for work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car ownership, are only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other hand, still continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European countries during the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the world are currently experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike the experience of currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place in developing countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence of growing population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has largely taken place as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour Organization 1998). Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least urbanized countries in the world. The first and most important challenge facing Chipotle is the sourcing of their food ingredients. When the company first came into existence, it sourced its ingredients from every and all available sources just like all other fast food companies. This changed in 1999 after Founder Steve Ells visited a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFOs). He was not too impressed and changed his company s food sources to organic. All of Chipotle s pork is 100% organic as well as 80% of its chicken and 85% of its beef. The company served 100% of all meat sources but had to make adjustments as demand exceeded supply. The company served over 60 million pounds of meat in 2009 and over 75 million pounds in 2010. Maintaining such high numbers in the use of organic meat and produce is next to impossible and as witnessed, the company is already incorporating non organic sources. A solution to this debacle would be to outsource organic produce from neighboring countries such as Mexico and Canada. The only foreseeable obstacle to this approach would be cost of transportation of the livestock (either alive or in a finished package ).
