Communication Theories That Are Apart Of Interpersonal...
There are a number of communication theories that are apart of interpersonal communication. Today I
will be using the cognitive dissonance theory, social judgement theory, and the organizational theory
when convincing three people to attend the sport management alumni tailgate. The three people I am
looking to persuade are my uncle Dave, my younger cousin Ryan, and one of my closest friends
named Wes. When deciding on who I wanted to persuade I looked for three people who vary in age as
my uncle is in his 40 s, my cousin is a sophomore in high school, and my friend Wes is 21, the same
age as me. I also wanted to choose three people who I am close with and will trust what I am selling to
them. This paper not only examines the theories that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before I attempt to persuade him, I first wanted to ask him some questions and figure out exactly why
he does not ever attend football games on any level. According to my uncle, he doesn t like the fact
that a football game is an all day event. He mentioned the average cost for a family of four in 2016 to
attend a game was $503. This cost includes what the average family of four spends on parking, tickets,
food and drinks, souvenirs, and programs. Finally, his main reason for not wanting to attend a football
game was that if he was interested in watching a football game he was much more comfortable staying
home and watching it in his basement on his flat screen television with the added benefit of being able
to watch re plays. After reviewing his answers, I realized that it sounded like his reasons were based
off how he visualized an NFL experience due to his reasons being the cost and because it was an all
day event. I assumed that he was not referring to a college football experience. Based off his
responses, I wanted to create reasons that went against what he said that would make it uncomfortable
and hard for him to say no. As the experience of dissonance is unpleasant, we are motivated to reduce
or eliminate it, and achieve consonance (i.e. agreement) (McLeod 2008). My goal was to make his
reasons irrelevant to this event. If a person is induced to do or say something which is contrary to his
private opinion, there

How Did Davy Crockett Influence American History
Davy Crockett, an American icon, actually made a huge impact in American history. His early life and
his background is interesting and may be unique to others. Crockett served the country in the US
government. He is also one of the many heroes who died defending the Alamo. Davy Crockett s early
life may have helped him later in his life. Crockett was born on August 17, 1786 in Tennessee. He
learned to shoot a rifle when he was just eight years old. He ran away for more than two years in the
wilderness after he got into a fight with a school bully. He was just thirteen according to
Biography.com. He married Polly Finley, and had three children. When she died, he married Elizabeth
Patton, a widow with two children. Crockett was successful in life. He became a scout in the militia to
fight the Creek Indians in 1813, and returned home in 1815. All of this experienced led to time as a

Professional Voice Analysis
In the text, Professional Voice is how we adapt to the values and distinctive voices in our chosen
discipline. There are several ways to accomplish this, one of those ways is to look the part, in other
words dress for the role. Secondly, when we communicate within our discipline, understanding how to
speak and write the language of your profession is essential. However, we need balance in our
communication skills, verbal and written, not too complex or simple, but effective enough to
communicate with a distinctive professional voice. In my disciplines (Social Work and Art Education),
there are several different levels; one of those is learning to speak the language of scholarly art
educators such as, having knowledge of the different art

Summary Of Child Pornography
Summary of Child Pornography, the Internet and Juvenile Suspects This research article by Leukfeldt,
Jansen, and Stol focuses on adolescents who engage in child pornography. As soon as a young person
takes sexualized pictures or videos of themselves and/or others and then post them on the internet it
must be dealt with through the police. They find it hard to determine as who is the offender and who is
the victim since majority of all youths will produce and distribute a photo at some point in their
adolescents, which can be defined as child pornography. There are many problems that arise from
adolescents who engage in sharing sexualized photos online, such as if they are in a relationship does
it make it any different and should it be ignored or not?
Summary of Data Based Profiling of Internet Child Pornography Offenders In this article produced by
Vasudevan, Ross, Eccleston, and Pradhan they talk about how child pornography has become an
increasing issue in the world for children today. This study focuses on demographic and offending
characteristics of two different groups, which are the non contact and the contact internet sex
offenders. They explore whether the offenders had any prior convictions of criminal history either non
sexual or sexual. They discovered differences between non contact and contact offenders in their
education level, career, criminal history and childhood background.

The United States Transition From Age Of Sail
The United States Transition from Age of Sail to Steam and Steel Navy
William Hunt, the secretary of the Navy in 1881, once wrote: the conditions of the Navy imperatively
demand the prompt and earnest attention of Congress. Unless some action be had in its behalf it must
soon dwindle into insignificance. Without technology advancements or change, the Navy would soon
fall apart. The Age of Sail lasted from about the sixteenth century through the mid nineteenth century.
It was a time in which our nation was fighting with wooden ships stacked with canons, and
underdeveloped technology. Slowly, this started to change. As a country, the need for change began in
the mid nineteenth century, before the Civil War. The first of these ... Show more content on

Although it was innovative it was not optimally efficient, nor abundant. In 1815, the entire United
States naval force consisted of 18 warships the USS Independence, a 90 gun ship of the line, 5
frigates, 2 sloops of war, 7 brigantines and 3 schooners (Potts). The entire U.S. Navy consisted of
eighteen warships which they soon realized was not enough and motivated them to advance their
technology.
After the War of 1812, to aid sea commerce and whaling fleet efforts that followed the whale
migration around the globe, the United States needed new ships to fight the British. The first USS
Yorktown was commissioned in 1840 and it was the most advanced ship of its time during the Age of
Sail . It included three masts, eighteen sails, tactically placed canons, lifeboats, and anchors. While the
U.S. were launching this vessel, Great Britain was rapidly advancing their technology into a steel and
steam navy. The Napoleonic Wars left Great Britain as the most powerful naval country in the world.
No two of their rivals combined came even close to competing with the Royal Navy. With that, the
United States Navy was inspired as well as threatened by the technology advances, and they too
sought change. Time was not the only factor that was decisive on the progressions. The need for new
and more efficient methods was the driving factor. Robert Fulton, the builder of the first steam
powered warship,

Mrs. Dalloway And Septimus Smith
In Mrs. Dalloway Clarissa and Septimus smith have various similarities. Clarissa eventually triumphs
over her issues/depression in her life unlike Septimus that eventually loses and commits suicide. Mrs.
Dalloway an upper class 50 year old British wife the central character of the novel, struggles
constantly to balance her thoughts and world. Her world consists of a fabulous lifestyle such as fine
fashion, parties, and aristocratic society, but as she the novel goes on she looks beneath the glamour of
her life and searches for a deeper meaning. Looking for privacy, Clarissa has a tendency toward
introspection that gives her a capacity for emotion. She is always concerned with appearances around
other people and no matter the pressure she keeps herself composed. She uses a lot of useless talking
and activity to keep her ideas and emotions safe and locked away, which can make her seem shallow
even to those who know her well.
A character similar to Mrs. Dalloway Septimus Smith, Septimus was a World War I soldier. He s a
significant person in the novel because he was one of the first characters to show the horrors of the
war. Still shocked and suffering from post traumatic stress disorder due to the war. Virginia Woolf
doesn t depict Septimus as a hero, but as a sufferer or survivor. Septimus is plagued by feelings of
numbness, has serious hallucinations of his dead friend Evans. He changed so much from the war: he

Rise And Fall Of The Civil Rights Summary
The beginning of, KKK The Rise and Fall of the Civil Rights , starts off with the opening of a KKK
rally happening in Raleigh North Carolina, on August, 14, 1966. Bob Jones, one of the major klan
leaders, was a speaker at that day. Jones was born right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, he was a
high school dropout, and not soon after a discharged from the navy for not saluting a black officer.
Next, the presentation draws our attention to a battle scene of the Civil War, during this time is when
the organization was born. A group of soldiers from Tennessee would pose as dead confederate
soldiers and terrorized newly freed slaves. Throwing them over bridges, torturing, and hanging them.
Throughout history the KKK would rise in numbers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At his first over 2000 people showed up, which later would turn into the hundreds of thousands. While
he was traveling, he recruited minister Dorset who became the klans priest at every event. Dorset and
Jones became a deadly duo. The Andy Griffith show was a representation of what North Carolina
thought of itself, co existing with blacks. Never had anything to say, just went along with the whites
peacefully. During this time in the 60 s, NC had become the new south moving out of its racial period.
They didn t want to really change, but would gradually take steps forward just to say they were doing
more than everybody else in the south.
But this wasn t enough for blacks, in 64 the civil rights movement revved up once again. The KKK
supported the traditionalist idea, and spoke for the people being left out of the new south . BJ started
his political gatherings again, only whites aloud. During the day, there would be rides, food,
entertainment, and more, but, at night they would bring out the klans speakers. Dorset targeted and
manipulated the religious crowd of the small country towns into further believing in what they were
already thinking, through religion, justifying racism, and it

Make-A-Wish Foundation Paper
To grant wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience
with hope, strength and joy (Make A Wish® America, 2015) is the mission of the world s most well
known and respected charity in the United States. The Make A Wish Foundation is a charitable
organization that grants children with life threatening medical conditions their one dream in life.
Fittingly for an organization that once relied largely on grass roots support, the Make A Wish
Foundation did not begin as a formally organized national body. Instead, its roots sprang from the ad
hoc efforts of family and friends focused on the plight of one child, Christopher Greicius, who wished

According to researcher Lindner (1998), motivated employees are needed in our rapidly changing
workplaces to aid in the survival of organizations. Not only is it important to meet the needs of the
consumer, it is equally important that to make sure that associates are taken care of and remain
motivated. For this reason, Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly and Konopaske (2012) states much of
management s time is spent addressing the motivation of their employees (p. 125). According to the
Encyclopedia of Small Business (2007), employee motivation is the level of energy, commitment, and
creativity employees bring to their jobs; the inner force that drives individuals to accomplish personal
and organizational goals (Lindner, 1988). Despite its obvious importance, employee motivation can be
an elusive quest for managers due to the multiplicity of incentives that can influence employees to do
their best work. The reality is that every employee has different ways to become motivated and the
knowledge of how to motivate them is key to organizational success. It is imperative that employers
get to know the personal needs and wants of their employees in order to establish tactics in which to
motivate each of them. Once achieved, managers are in a better position to encourage and reward
employees to behave in effective ways (Gibson et al, 2012, p.

National Peace and Security
Security is everywhere. It is needed for virtually everything that is accessed today. From starting your
car, to logging onto Facebook, to clocking in at work, security is always present. One of the most
noticeable forms of security is the police and the Army. They are the security for the country, both for
internal and external threats. Police are more internal security, dealing with crimes caused by the
general population. Army deals with outside threats, by addressing situations that are overseas that can
cause harm to those within the States. To protect from these threats, the security appears to look
intimidating, due to powerful weapons and armor placed upon the person. However, when this
happens, a side effect occurs, where the civilians may become scared of the force, and begin to distrust
the security, and also began to fear corruption. To be able to stop this side effect from happening, the
security sector reformation must find the corrupt who cause the distrust and fear to occur, and end it.
The way to best reform the security sector within societies within transition is by finding and
removing the corrupt, and by doing that, you will raise faith in the security sector by the people. High

Analysis Of The Book Matilda By Roald Dahl
This blog will focus on the storybook Matilda written by Roald Dahl. Matilda is about a special girl
forced to put up with a rough, distant father and mother. Worse, Miss Trunchbull, the evil principal at
Matilda s school, is a terrifyingly strict bully. However, when Matilda realizes she has the power of
telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull s fury and fight back against her mean
parents with the help of her friends and her very kind teacher, Miss Honey. As a female, I believe in
empowering women and believing in the fact that women can become their own people and look after
themselves and accomplish achievements. This mainly links in with the gender role of identity as it
shows a huge part in Roald Dahls work within this book. Roald Dahl had grew up with his mother,
three sisters and a nanny, a house full of women. This enabled him to become an advocate of female
power.
As in a lot of children books, most of the time it is usually the boys that are playing the role of heroes,
and this is due to a gender stereotype as in a lot of cases it is shown that males are the strong ones and
should take care of the female. However, Dahl shows that girls are able to perfectly fit this hero role
just as well which I find very different to other sources of media as he empowers the females from the
start to the end. If other children were to read this book it will allow them to follow the notion that
girls could do what they want and are allowed to fight for

This study will provide additional evidence based research to validate the usefulness of this tool in
practice. The NHS incident rates (NICE, 2003) of pressure ulcers in the UK is a concern and this
systematic review is an accepted, research approach in its own right and using descriptive statistical
data measures the outcome of results more precisely (Gerrish, 2006). The measurable variables
identified were positive predictive values (PPV), comorbidities, mobility and usefulness of the
Waterlow tool in clinical practice.
Background
The researchers show the significant clinical problems of morbidity and mortality as a worthy
argument for this study. Cost and financial burdens to the healthcare system are mentioned, prevalence
of pressure ulcers at 12.7% necessitate the need for improvements in critical care settings. This study
measures the effectiveness of the tool by using specific and sensitive PPV NPV (negative predictive
Vales) to define the myriad of variables. These variables and predictive outcomes and are an integral
part of the validity and reliability of the studies outcome. (Sacket et al, 2000).
Aim
The aim of this article was to assess the validity of the Waterlow Scale instrument using a longitudinal
cohort of internal medical patients. To identify risk factors contributing to the injury of pressure ulcers
(information outlined in the abstract overview of the study) (BJN, 2010).

Daedalus And Icarus Analysis
The two myths Phaethon, and Daedalus and Icarus both depict 2 illogical, ambitious, and power
hungry boys. In Daedalus and Icarus, and in Phaethon, Phaethon and Icarus both take a prideful
neglection of the warnings from those who are older and wiser. Also, in both myths imagery is
beautifully demonstrated and drawn out for the reader. Through the use of characterization and
imagery, both unsophisticated protagonists Phaethon and Icarus demonstrate a shared theme, that
being prideful with a disregard of warnings from those who are judicious and older can lead to
disastrous consequences.
To begin with, both myths depict characterization. The two arrogant protagonists do not think twice
before anything. In Phaethon, Epaphus talks about visiting Zeus and receiving presents from Zeus.
Phaethon then gets jealous and proceeds to lie. Oh yes. He taught me to handle the horses. Tall as this
mountain... they breathe fire (49). Because of his actions Phaethon puts himself in a pickle. He easily
could have let Epaphus belittle him, but he does not. Later on because of his actions, the whole world
has to pay, the planet is destroyed and their are natural disasters because of Phaethon. This relates to
the theme because he was being prideful and didn t care about anyone else beside him. Similarly in
Daedalus and Icarus, Icarus is also boastful and doesn t care about the near future. Icarus is warned his
wings will melt off if he goes too close too the sun. But just like Phaethon he lets pride take him over .
I m the first boy ever to fly! Im making history! I shall be famous! thought Icarus (61). Though Icarus
is reminded several times to not fly too high but to stay near Daedalus the elder he doesn t care to
listen; which ended with a consequence death. His actions describe the type of person Icarus is,
narcissistic and narrow minded. All Icarus wants to do is to show the birds he is supreme . It presents
that listening to your elders can be life or death, in this case, death. These two myths both represent
characterization. The shared theme is easily recognizable as they are both full of pride.
Secondly, the two myths heavily use imagery. Imagery plays a key role throughout the two myths,
whether it s describing the

To evaluate the ratio, if the ratio is lower than the industry average, this suggests the firm may have
liquidity problems. If the ratio is notability higher, this may suggest the firm is not using its funds in
an efficient manner. A firm that has a current ratio that is close to the industry average is performing
well. (Ameritrade, 2004).
Current ratio is calculated by dividing current assets by current liabilities. The current ratios for World
Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. for 2002, and 2003 are, 4.3:1, and 4.2:1and 4.1:1. By using the general
rule, the organization current ratios for all three years are well above 2.0. This means the organization

Rape In A Streetcar Named Desire
Unfortunately, rape is just as commonplace today as it has been throughout history. In Tennessee
Williams classic play A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche, the protagonist, is a victim of rape. Just as
so many victims today aren t believed, Blanche was also denied the gift of validation when her sister
did not believe her. Rape victims have been refused the right of seeing their accusers punished, and the
concept of rape culture allows victims to be blamed instead of the perpetrators. This has not changed
since the days of Streetcar, although recently women have started to fight like never before for the
rights of victims to justice.
Over time, the definition of rape has changed drastically. In the past, the idea of rape was always
glossed over. It was okay for a husband to force his wife to do things she did not want to do because
she would be considered property to him. This lead women to feel ashamed to come forward and talk
about what had happened to them because they would be belittled by law enforcement. Law
enforcement always favored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When A Streetcar Named Desire was written, the words rape , forced and sex were rarely even used.
In euphemism to these words, the word attack was often used as a way to indirectly say that an
individual had been sexually assaulted without sounding too harsh or unpleasant. Unlike rape, the
word attack has several definitions ranging from to begin hostilities against to to try and destroy;
especially with verbal abuse. While women were being both physically and mentally abused, men
treated rape as no big deal, and often considered it an unfortunate event for the victim to experience
within their lives. Women were usually encouraged by their relatives to forget about the rape and
move on. If they try to stick up for themselves, they would often be shut down, and were disbelieved.
In the past, if women felt strong enough to talk about their

Essay about The Debate Over Truman s Use of the Atomic Bombs
On August 7, 1945 the headline of the front page of the New York Times read: First Atomic Bomb
Dropped on Japan; Missile is Equal to 20,000 Tons of TNT: Truman Warns Foe of a Rain of Ruin. 1
Now the debate between historians on the question of whether Truman s decision to use the atomic
bomb was correct or not had begun. There are critics and historians who say that Japan was already
beat and that the war could have ended by negotiations. In their opinions because Germany had
surrendered, the Imperial Navy was driven from the sea by the Pacific Fleet, Okinawa and Iwo Jima
were in our hands and because Japan was cut off from resources from the Indies, they believe Japan

An answer to the problem had been handed to Truman by Secretary of War, Henry L. Stimson when
he asked to speak to the President about an urgent matter. Truman wrote in his Memoirs: Stimson told
me that he wanted me to know about an immense project that was under way a project looking to the
development of a new explosive of almost unbelievable destructive power.5 Only a handful of people
knew about the bomb or the research on the use of atomic energy for military purposes. Now Truman
had been informed about the best kept secret of World War II. Truman s military advisers were
working on ways to end the war. One of their plans was an invasion of Japan. On June 18th the
President met with his military advisers who recommended an invasion of Kyushu. The operation
would be enormous with an estimate of 31,000 casualties in the first thirty days.6 A report by the Joint
War Plans Committee estimated that the invasion would cost approximately 4,000 dead, 150,000
wounded, and 3,500 missing in action for a total of 193,000 casualties.7 Truman did not like the high
numbers of casualties that the invasion was reported to bring. He had Secretary Stimson to head up a
committee of top men to study the implications that the atomic bomb would have for the United
States. On June 1, the committee brought their recommendation to Truman. They recommended that
the bomb should be used and without warning to show its

What Is The Theme Of Courage By Anne Sexton

Poem Analysis Courage is a feeling, perhaps everyone has felt before, even if it wasn t acknowledged.
People refer to courage as an act of stepping out ones comfort zone, putting any fear a person may
have to the side and overcoming something that needs everything inside to do. Anne Sexton, a
confessional poet depicts courage in all forms in her poem Courage. Sexton was very open and shared
painful details in her poems. Some are against it and others would appreciate her work. Life
necessitates courage to overcome the challenges of everyday living. This poem gradually leads to an
acceptance of death after a life of courageous moments. Sexton helps one visualize something as small

I) Executive Summary
The history of lingerie can be traced back thousands of years to 3000 B.C., but it was not until 1977
when Roy Rogers founded Victoria s Secret that lingerie evolved into what we think of now. In this
paper, we examine the emergence of Victoria s Secret as the leading retailer in women s lingerie, the
context for the innovation, and the approaches the firm took to commercialize the innovation. Victoria
s Secret was hardly the first lingerie retailer, but it was able to take advantage of a niche market
demand, fortunate timing, and a well sequenced ecosystem to become the market leader it is today.
Our focus is on the period between 1977 when Roy Rogers first founded VS, through 1982 when he

Victorian clothing became associated with sexual anticipation given the difficulties presented in taking
it all off. The introduction of garters (hooked corsets to stockings) heightened excitement and is
credited with the spawn of striptease shows and dances.ix The name Victoria s Secret was adopted
from this era.
Lingerie cycled through various trends from the early twentieth century to the present. The increased
participation of women in sports and dancing gave rise to brassieres and less restrictive girdles. The
alphabet bra was introduced with cup sizes ranging from A, B, C, and D. Also advancements in
materials for such garments shifted from steel and rubber to synthetic materials, precursors to Lycra,
rayon, and Lastex. The historical context of wars, hippie and feminist movements, and the boom of
the film industry, began to shape a bigger social context for lingerie than previously in history. On one
hand, lingerie was socialized as restrictive, artificial, and conforming. On the other hand, some
advancements (briefs, bikinis), provoked feelings of youth and freedomx. Regardless, by the 1960 s it
was quite evident that women s lingerie incited some type of emotional response from women and
men alike. The timing was ripe for promoting lingerie in a greater business context.

Batman Begins Symbolism
Batman Begins Fear doesn t shut you down; it wakes you up , an important quote by Veronica Roth.
This quote relates to the film Batman Begins directed by Christopher Nolan. This is an intriguing film
that follows the life of Bruce Wayne who has to overcome his childhood fear. Important motifs used to
show the idea of fear and corruption were guns, bats and fog. A way in which the motif of a gun was
used to show the idea of fear and corruption was when young Bruce and his family attend the opera.
Bruce was afraid of the bats in the opera so they decided to leave out the back exit into an alleyway
when they are confronted by Joe Chill. A close up shows the motif of a gun, that Chill possesses. This

on the gun that is in Bruce s hands as he pushes the gun up his sleeve hiding it from everyone. This
closeup shows the fear that Bruce holds and how he wants to shoot Chill to rid his fear and to also
have power over Chill, who took his parents away from him. Before Bruce gets to Chill, a woman
dressed as a reporter races up to Chill and shoots him, Falcone says hi . This motif shows the

Personal Narrative-Old White Houses
I didn t always live on Meadow Ridge Road. But I have always remembered living on it. From the
time I was born to the time I was a year old, my parents and three brothers lived on a road in the city. I
don t know the house I had spent my first year in, but I know the one I m in now. Back then, it was
just an old white house, with a siding that was no longer produced. The front porch was small, barely
enough room to stand on and only there so people could stand above the snow during winter. The
kitchen floors were wooden, with my father making my brother Lucas and I clean the floors with a
toothbrush as punishment. The living room floors always had some form of urine from our dog. But
that was before I grew up, and changes were made. My house

Human Nature, Law, and English Boys Humans created moral law to govern themselves, and be able
to exist in civilized society, but people are arrogant and break these rules in order to gain control and
power over others. Lord of the Flies, a novel by William Golding, describes, using Hobbes theory of
human nature needing laws in order to stay civilized, a group of boys attempting to create a society.
Lord of the Flies is a story of a group of boys who crash landed on an island and are trying to create a

From the very beginning the boys listen to Ralph s suggestions. The group has heard suggestions from
Piggy, Jack and Ralph but have only listened to the boy with the, size, and attractive appearance,
which shows their low standards for leaders. The boys base their decisions on the aesthetic appeal of
Ralph instead of his capability of leadership. The most powerful thing affecting the decision was the
conch, a major symbol of power and control. The conch is something that summons and silences the
boys, and allows them to speak during meetings. Hobbes theory says that human nature is basically
selfish and therefore they follow the leader who is most likely to give them what they want. Ralph
demonstrates what the boys want in that he calls for a vote, giving all they boys control over their
society. The boys are interested by Ralph which causes them to want to keep him around as something
to marvel at so they make him the leader. Toward the end of the novel, Piggy criticizes the behavior of
the boys in Jack s society which causes them to become very angry. Roger, on the cliff above them,
uses the lever to push a boulder aimed at Piggy. Golding wrote, ... the conch exploded into a thousand

In Some Manner, It Would Be Strenuous To Realize All Of
In some manner, it would be strenuous to realize all of the goals, such as removing distortions to
international trade and promoting technological innovation and the transfer and dissemination of
technology in the Preamble and other provisions. To be specific, technology transfer was introduced in
article 7 of the TRIPS Agreement. Article 7 stipulates: protection and enforcement of intellectual
property rights should contribute to the promotion of technological innovation and to the transfer and
dissemination of technology. However, the scope and language of this provision are quite vague and

Except for the machinery industry, there was little difference regarding willingness to transfer
technology in other industries. Policy transparency, quality of human capital, and market size are very
important factors of FDI, while the degree of IPR protection is only one of them. Failure to work a
patent failure to work a patent might be discussed under the context of article 7 of the TRIPS
Agreement, as Professor Gervais indicates. A number of supporters of the local working requirement
argue if the patentee would be entitled to a territorial legal monopoly, she should to contribute to the
development of the industry in that territory as an act of reciprocity. Nonetheless, K. McCabe explains
the reason why defining the working requirement would be a burden for transnational companies. If
comprehensively every country requires local working as one of the requirements for granting a
patent, then exportation to a new foreign market means to establish a manufacturing facility in the
country. Defining local working as a requirement therefore constitutes an unnecessary burden for a
foreign patentee to build manufacturing facilities in all the signatories of TRIPS who have legislation
as such. For this reason, the grounds for granting compulsory licenses should be limited to countries
with a lower standard of technology

A Study On Rust Industry
Rust oleum Professional Undercoating is a specialized grade spray on rubber coating used to prevent
corrosion caused by salt, water, and other road chemicals. It rubberizes, resists further corrosion and
deadens sound. This product is used on cars, trucks, trailers and other road vehicles. Rust damage is
irreversible and can only be prevented hence the utility for the product not that it is needed in dry
Arizona. Rust oleum has thousands of products that are all marketed for home and auto projects not
limited to fence paint, enamels, primers and rust strippers. The professional undercoating is one of the
more popular products as it is used on cars. I chose this product because I have no experience with this
item or car care. As it is, I pay mechanics and body shop owners to make sure that my car is not
falling apart. Rust oleum Professional Undercoating is a do it yourself project that I would not chose
to participate in. The product is unfamiliar to me, as a single female in my mid twenties I have never
purchased nor plan to purchase this merchandise anytime in the future. The product despite my lack of
necessity segments a market fairly specifically. Market segmentations shape the advertisement by
picking demographic, geographic, psychographic and behavioral factors of the individuals they wish
to target. Rust oleum s demographic segment makes products for middle class, American, family men
who have some education but are most likely blue collar or trade workers. The

Capital Punishment Should be Abolished
Capital punishment is the punishment of death for a crime given by the state. It is used for a variety of
crimes such as murder, drug trafficking and treason. Many countries also have the death penalty for

since ancient times; it was used in ancient Rome, and one of the most famous people to be crucified

believed to be morally right as there is no risk of a prisoner escaping if they are sentenced to death.
When dangerous prisoners escape, the lives of nearby citizens are put in danger; this wouldn t be the

Abstract
A common road salt, magnesium chloride, was analyzed in the lab to test its effectiveness as a road

obtain the average Van t Hoff factor from the data, plot the change of temperature vs. molality and
find the line of best fit. The slope represents the average Van t Hoff factor multiplied by the freezing

then analyzed in a table. Experiment 2: Experiment 2 focused on finding the enthalpy of solution of

water in a graduated cylinder for three separate trials, each trial having a different mass of magnesium
chloride. The water was then poured into a well of a Styrofoam calorimeter then the initial
temperature of water was taken using a temperature probe and the LoggerPro programming. A

  • 2. Communication Theories That Are Apart Of Interpersonal... There are a number of communication theories that are apart of interpersonal communication. Today I will be using the cognitive dissonance theory, social judgement theory, and the organizational theory when convincing three people to attend the sport management alumni tailgate. The three people I am looking to persuade are my uncle Dave, my younger cousin Ryan, and one of my closest friends named Wes. When deciding on who I wanted to persuade I looked for three people who vary in age as my uncle is in his 40 s, my cousin is a sophomore in high school, and my friend Wes is 21, the same age as me. I also wanted to choose three people who I am close with and will trust what I am selling to them. This paper not only examines the theories that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I attempt to persuade him, I first wanted to ask him some questions and figure out exactly why he does not ever attend football games on any level. According to my uncle, he doesn t like the fact that a football game is an all day event. He mentioned the average cost for a family of four in 2016 to attend a game was $503. This cost includes what the average family of four spends on parking, tickets, food and drinks, souvenirs, and programs. Finally, his main reason for not wanting to attend a football game was that if he was interested in watching a football game he was much more comfortable staying home and watching it in his basement on his flat screen television with the added benefit of being able to watch re plays. After reviewing his answers, I realized that it sounded like his reasons were based off how he visualized an NFL experience due to his reasons being the cost and because it was an all day event. I assumed that he was not referring to a college football experience. Based off his responses, I wanted to create reasons that went against what he said that would make it uncomfortable and hard for him to say no. As the experience of dissonance is unpleasant, we are motivated to reduce or eliminate it, and achieve consonance (i.e. agreement) (McLeod 2008). My goal was to make his reasons irrelevant to this event. If a person is induced to do or say something which is contrary to his private opinion, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Professional Voice Analysis In the text, Professional Voice is how we adapt to the values and distinctive voices in our chosen discipline. There are several ways to accomplish this, one of those ways is to look the part, in other words dress for the role. Secondly, when we communicate within our discipline, understanding how to speak and write the language of your profession is essential. However, we need balance in our communication skills, verbal and written, not too complex or simple, but effective enough to communicate with a distinctive professional voice. In my disciplines (Social Work and Art Education), there are several different levels; one of those is learning to speak the language of scholarly art educators such as, having knowledge of the different art ... • 5. Summary Of Child Pornography Summary of Child Pornography, the Internet and Juvenile Suspects This research article by Leukfeldt, Jansen, and Stol focuses on adolescents who engage in child pornography. • 6. The United States Transition From Age Of Sail The United States Transition from Age of Sail to Steam and Steel Navy William Hunt, the secretary of the Navy in 1881, once wrote: the conditions of the Navy imperatively demand the prompt and earnest attention of Congress. Unless some action be had in its behalf it must soon dwindle into insignificance. Without technology advancements or change, the Navy would soon fall apart. The Age of Sail lasted from about the sixteenth century through the mid nineteenth century. It was a time in which our nation was fighting with wooden ships stacked with canons, and underdeveloped technology. Slowly, this started to change. As a country, the need for change began in the mid nineteenth century, before the Civil War. The first of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it was innovative it was not optimally efficient, nor abundant. In 1815, the entire United States naval force consisted of 18 warships the USS Independence, a 90 gun ship of the line, 5 frigates, 2 sloops of war, 7 brigantines and 3 schooners (Potts). The entire U.S. Navy consisted of eighteen warships which they soon realized was not enough and motivated them to advance their technology. After the War of 1812, to aid sea commerce and whaling fleet efforts that followed the whale migration around the globe, the United States needed new ships to fight the British. The first USS Yorktown was commissioned in 1840 and it was the most advanced ship of its time during the Age of Sail . It included three masts, eighteen sails, tactically placed canons, lifeboats, and anchors. While the U.S. were launching this vessel, Great Britain was rapidly advancing their technology into a steel and steam navy. The Napoleonic Wars left Great Britain as the most powerful naval country in the world. No two of their rivals combined came even close to competing with the Royal Navy. With that, the United States Navy was inspired as well as threatened by the technology advances, and they too sought change. Time was not the only factor that was decisive on the progressions. The need for new and more efficient methods was the driving factor. Robert Fulton, the builder of the first steam powered warship, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rise And Fall Of The Civil Rights Summary The beginning of, KKK The Rise and Fall of the Civil Rights , starts off with the opening of a KKK rally happening in Raleigh North Carolina, on August, 14, 1966. Bob Jones, one of the major klan leaders, was a speaker at that day. While he was traveling, he recruited minister Dorset who became the klans priest at every event. Dorset and Jones became a deadly duo. The Andy Griffith show was a representation of what North Carolina thought of itself, co existing with blacks. Never had anything to say, just went along with the whites peacefully. During this time in the 60 s, NC had become the new south moving out of its racial period. They didn t want to really change, but would gradually take steps forward just to say they were doing more than everybody else in the south. But this wasn t enough for blacks, in 64 the civil rights movement revved up once again. The KKK supported the traditionalist idea, and spoke for the people being left out of the new south . BJ started his political gatherings again, only whites aloud. During the day, there would be rides, food, entertainment, and more, but, at night they would bring out the klans speakers. The Make A Wish Foundation is a charitable organization that grants children with life threatening medical conditions their one dream in life. Fittingly for an organization that once relied largely on grass roots support, the Make A Wish Foundation did not begin as a formally organized national body. According to researcher Lindner (1998), motivated employees are needed in our rapidly changing workplaces to aid in the survival of organizations. Not only is it important to meet the needs of the consumer, it is equally important that to make sure that associates are taken care of and remain motivated. For this reason, Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly and Konopaske (2012) states much of management s time is spent addressing the motivation of their employees (p. 125). According to the Encyclopedia of Small Business (2007), employee motivation is the level of energy, commitment, and creativity employees bring to their jobs; the inner force that drives individuals to accomplish personal and organizational goals (Lindner, 1988). Despite its obvious importance, employee motivation can be an elusive quest for managers due to the multiplicity of incentives that can influence employees to do their best work. The reality is that every employee has different ways to become motivated and the knowledge of how to motivate them is key to organizational success. It is imperative that employers get to know the personal needs and wants of their employees in order to establish tactics in which to motivate each of them. Once achieved, managers are in a better position to encourage and reward employees to behave in effective ways (Gibson et al, 2012, p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. National Peace and Security Security is everywhere. It is needed for virtually everything that is accessed today. From starting your car, to logging onto Facebook, to clocking in at work, security is always present. One of the most noticeable forms of security is the police and the Army. They are the security for the country, both for internal and external threats. Police are more internal security, dealing with crimes caused by the general population. Army deals with outside threats, by addressing situations that are overseas that can cause harm to those within the States. To protect from these threats, the security appears to look intimidating, due to powerful weapons and armor placed upon the person. However, when this happens, a side effect occurs, where the civilians may become scared of the force, and begin to distrust the security, and also began to fear corruption. To be able to stop this side effect from happening, the security sector reformation must find the corrupt who cause the distrust and fear to occur, and end it. The way to best reform the security sector within societies within transition is by finding and removing the corrupt, and by doing that, you will raise faith in the security sector by the people. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay says in an 2011 Human Rights Council I call on all those in positions of authority to take steps to prevent the commission of crimes or acts of revenge, and for other concerned parties to strongly refrain from undertaking any acts ... Matilda is about a special girl forced to put up with a rough, distant father and mother. Worse, Miss Trunchbull, the evil principal at Matilda s school, is a terrifyingly strict bully. However, when Matilda realizes she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull s fury and fight back against her mean parents with the help of her friends and her very kind teacher, Miss Honey. As a female, I believe in empowering women and believing in the fact that women can become their own people and look after themselves and accomplish achievements. This mainly links in with the gender role of identity as it shows a huge part in Roald Dahls work within this book. Roald Dahl had grew up with his mother, three sisters and a nanny, a house full of women. This enabled him to become an advocate of female power. As in a lot of children books, most of the time it is usually the boys that are playing the role of heroes, and this is due to a gender stereotype as in a lot of cases it is shown that males are the strong ones and should take care of the female. However, Dahl shows that girls are able to perfectly fit this hero role just as well which I find very different to other sources of media as he empowers the females from the start to the end. If other children were to read this book it will allow them to follow the notion that girls could do what they want and are allowed to fight for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Daedalus And Icarus Analysis The two myths Phaethon, and Daedalus and Icarus both depict 2 illogical, ambitious, and power hungry boys. In Daedalus and Icarus, and in Phaethon, Phaethon and Icarus both take a prideful neglection of the warnings from those who are older and wiser. Also, in both myths imagery is beautifully demonstrated and drawn out for the reader. Through the use of characterization and imagery, both unsophisticated protagonists Phaethon and Icarus demonstrate a shared theme, that being prideful with a disregard of warnings from those who are judicious and older can lead to disastrous consequences. To begin with, both myths depict characterization. The two arrogant protagonists do not think twice before anything. In Phaethon, Epaphus talks about visiting Zeus and receiving presents from Zeus. Phaethon then gets jealous and proceeds to lie. Oh yes. He taught me to handle the horses. Tall as this mountain... they breathe fire (49). Because of his actions Phaethon puts himself in a pickle. He easily could have let Epaphus belittle him, but he does not. Later on because of his actions, the whole world has to pay, the planet is destroyed and their are natural disasters because of Phaethon. This relates to the theme because he was being prideful and didn t care about anyone else beside him. Similarly in Daedalus and Icarus, Icarus is also boastful and doesn t care about the near future. Icarus is warned his wings will melt off if he goes too close too the sun. But just like Phaethon he lets pride take him over . I m the first boy ever to fly! Im making history! I shall be famous! thought Icarus (61). Though Icarus is reminded several times to not fly too high but to stay near Daedalus the elder he doesn t care to listen; which ended with a consequence death. His actions describe the type of person Icarus is, narcissistic and narrow minded. All Icarus wants to do is to show the birds he is supreme . It presents that listening to your elders can be life or death, in this case, death. These two myths both represent characterization. The shared theme is easily recognizable as they are both full of pride. Secondly, the two myths heavily use imagery. Imagery plays a key role throughout the two myths, whether it s describing the ... In Tennessee Williams classic play A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche, the protagonist, is a victim of rape. Just as so many victims today aren t believed, Blanche was also denied the gift of validation when her sister did not believe her. Rape victims have been refused the right of seeing their accusers punished, and the concept of rape culture allows victims to be blamed instead of the perpetrators. This has not changed since the days of Streetcar, although recently women have started to fight like never before for the rights of victims to justice. Over time, the definition of rape has changed drastically. In the past, the idea of rape was always glossed over. It was okay for a husband to force his wife to do things she did not want to do because she would be considered property to him. This lead women to feel ashamed to come forward and talk about what had happened to them because they would be belittled by law enforcement. Law enforcement always favored ... Capital punishment has been around since ancient times; it was used in ancient Rome, and one of the most famous people to be crucified was Jesus Christ. Capital punishment is now illegal in many countries, like the United Kingdom, France and Germany, but it is also legal in many other countries such as China and the USA. There is a large debate on whether or not capital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joanna Yeates was an architect who was only 25 years old when she was murdered. Her murderer, Vincent Tabak, was described by Yeates family as not showing any remorse for his actions, and her family released a statement that said For us, it is with regret that capital punishment is not a possible option for his sentence. They wanted justice to be served for Joanna, and believed this would only be possible if her murderer received the death penalty. However, because it is illegal in the UK, Tabak received a punishment of being jailed for life for at least 20 years. Thirdly, capital punishment is believed to be morally right as there is no risk of a prisoner escaping if they are sentenced to death. When dangerous prisoners escape, the lives of nearby citizens are put in danger; this wouldn t be the case if the prisoner received the death penalty. On 17 September 2012, 131 inmates escaped from a Mexican prison. Many of these inmates were highly dangerous, and the lives of nearby people were put in danger. If capital punishment were legal in Mexico, some of these inmates may have received the death penalty, not escaped and therefore not put anyone in danger. On the other hand, many believe the death penalty should remain illegal in Britain and be made illegal all over the world because there is no proof to support the theory that it acts as a deterrent. The murder rate in death penalty states in the USA is higher than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deicer Magnesium Chloride Deicer Analysis of MgCl2 Dalena Khothsombath *† Group Members: James Deringer, Jeff Tanaka, and Yang Zhao Group 3 I pledge that this report, the data in it, and interpretations are my work, except where referenced. I have neither obtained nor given aid on this assignment outside of data discussions with my lab team. Signed_________________________________________ Abstract A common road salt, magnesium chloride, was analyzed in the lab to test its effectiveness as a road salt. The Van t Hoff factor of the salt and the enthalpy of dissolution when dissolved in pure water were experimentally tested to evaluate its many characteristics as a deicer. To determine the Van t Hoff factor, the difference of temperatures of freezing water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The additional ice that melted was added to the initial mass of water to obtain the final weight of water in the solution to calculate molality: molality m= (grams MgCl2÷95.21gmol of MgCl2)10mL H2O×1g H2O1 mL H2O×1 kg H2O1000 g H2O+grams of ice×% of ice melted×1 kg ice1000 g ice To obtain the average Van t Hoff factor from the data, plot the change of temperature vs. molality and find the line of best fit. The slope represents the average Van t Hoff factor multiplied by the freezing point constant of water, (i)(Kf). Then calculate each trial s Van t Hoff factor by using Equation 2. This originated from the freezing point depression equation: i = ΔT/((Kf)(m)) (Equation 2) The freezing point constant (Kf) of water is 1.86 °C m 1. Each mass amount and Van t Hoff factor was calculated then analyzed in a table. Experiment 2: Experiment 2 focused on finding the enthalpy of solution of magnesium chloride. Testing the enthalpy of solution started with measuring out 10 mL of deionized water in a graduated cylinder for three separate trials, each trial having a different mass of magnesium chloride. The water was then poured into a well of a Styrofoam calorimeter then the initial temperature of water was taken using a temperature probe and the LoggerPro programming. A measured amount of magnesium chloride was placed in the same well as the water in the calorimeter, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
