Multi-Genre Project Analysis
My process for creating this project was fairly simple. Upon being informed of this assignment, my
gears started to turn. I asked my parents for possible ideas on my Multi Genre project. After consulting
with them, I determined my project would be dedicated to my late grandmother.
Upon deciding this, immediately, different emotions were present. I started off very optimistic and
elated on the calming effects the project would bring. While writing my five original pieces and
working on creating the website, I often felt waves of sadness and even began to tear up as I presented
pieces of the project to my peers and even the students in my class. Upon completing the project, I
began to feel at ease and felt as my grandmother were alive, she would be very proud of the life
decisions I am making. The time has come to now present the final project to my father and my father
s side of the family. I am apprehensive of the different emotions that will be presented. Yet, at the
same time, my continual hope is that my family continues to find comfort and solace even though we
continue to mourn the loss of our matriarch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transparency can lend itself to different sides in life. So, being able to clearly express my feelings and
be completely open aided in helping to heal my heart. Firsthand, as a teacher, I often tell my students
as they write, be completely honest with yourself and let the ideas continue to flow. At the same time,
I realized I was not taking my own advice. This project gave me the chance to implement some of the
same strategies and guidelines suggested for my students. At the end of the project, I was really
amazed at how vivid my writing had been due to the fact that I was able to be open with myself

Skeletal Muscle Physiology Lab Report
Skeletal Muscle Physiology Lab Report
V17FAAnatomy Phys I (BIO 2011 VO02)
Fall 2017
Michelle Leeman Objective:
The intent of this lab is to observe the relationship between the muscles and neurons that generate
movement throughout the body. We will interpret four (4) different simulations that initiate a stimulus
varying in intensity, frequency, and weight, while recording its influence on muscle contractions. The
goal of this experiment is to have an enhanced comprehension muscle contractions.
Materials and Methods:
The equipment used for all four activities include an intact skeletal muscle, electrical stimulator,
mounting stand, and oscilloscope. Please note that the mounting stand includes a force transducer to
measure the amount of force developed by a muscle, as well as a ruler that allows for the measurement
of distance that the weight is lifted by the isolated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5, represents the load velocity relationship. The prediction was that as the load on the muscle increases
the latent period would increase, the shortening velocity would decrease, the distance will decrease,
and the contraction duration will decrease. The latent period is the period time that elapses between
the generation of an action potential in a muscle cell to the start of a muscle contraction. It becomes
longer as the load becomes heavier due to a rise in muscle tension but no movement or contraction of
the muscle. Once the muscle tension surpasses the weight of the load an isotonic concentric
contraction, or the shortening of muscles to move the load, commences. The shortening velocity is the
speed of the contraction from the muscle shortening while lifting a load. Maximal shortening velocity
is reached with a minimal load. With a light load, the shortening velocity is at its maximal shortening
velocity; inversely, when the weight is heavy the speed in which the muscle lifts the weight decreases
in speed at a slower velocity, as shown in Fig.

Query Sequence And Analysis Of Verify3d
According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 80.00% of the amino acid residues in this
homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a passing model
(Lüthy et al., 1992). However, between residues 44 66 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below the
0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned against each
other, the query sequence and template sequence consist of different types of amino acid residues in
this range (Table 1). The query sequence consists of the residues YTAEADGNTIFTKTIPSGITISA,
while the template sequence 4IPU_A consists of the residues KDWGKGLSIGVLASGSIAAPLRK.
After analyzing these two aligned sequences, some stark differences ... Show more content on

Moreover, based on ProSA s local plot, the model displays low energy scores (negative delta g)
throughout most of the plot in the template sequence, indicating a highly favorable model.
Additionally, as shown in figure 1, for this template model, ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .659
(Uziela et al., 2017). Similarly, as shown in figure 2, for the experimentally determined structure of
this template (PDB ID: 4IPU), ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .537. Since the template model scored
slightly higher than the known structure and is closer to 1, the model generated can be deemed as
acceptable. Overall, given the positive results of most of these these evaluation programs, it can be
concluded that the template model 4IPU_A is likely reliable and gives a highly accurate alignment.
According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 79.63% of the amino acid residues in this
homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a warning model
(Lüthy et al., 1992). This indicates that it may be a reliable model, but other evaluation programs must
be used in order to verify this. Between residues 19 32 and 65 71 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips
below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned
against each other, the query sequence and template sequence consist of different types

Alliteration And Symbolism In Browning s Meeting At Night
In the poem, Meeting At Night, alliteration and symbolism were used to describe about the sea, color,
and nighttime in line one. The poem on line one states that The gray sea and the long black land;
(Browning). Browning used alliteration in this line was with long and land to tell the audience that he
sees nothing around him but water all around. He described the land as the color black to tell the
audience it s dark outside or nighttime. The sea was being describe as the color gray to emphasize that
it is night as well. He focused on reality instead of the art by not searching for more colors and stated
the fact that everything was dark. This is how the author incorporated the alliteration and symbolism
in this line tie the connection of the sea, color, and nighttime. The author also used alliteration and
symbolism to extend his imagery of the scenery in his poem. According to line two of the poem, that
author wrote, And the yellow half moon large and low; (Browning). The alliteration he used in the
second line was with the words large and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line ten, there are symbolism of color, heat and nighttime to decipher the meaning of the lighted
match. Assuming that the match was struck, a blue spark must have appeared to get it lit. The color
blue may be symbolized as heat due to the sparks being the beginning of the fire that the match has
contained. The blue sparks can also be a symbol of passion due to the word spark being used as in
relationships nowadays. The lighted match is also a symbol of heat. When something was lighted, then
fire, which is very hot, must be involved. The lighted match may have led the audience think that the
setting was during the nighttime. Usually, when a match is lighted, it could have been use as a source
of light to see in the dark or, in this case, nighttime. This is how the lighted match can be a symbol of
color, heat, and

Essay on Gustav Stresemann
Gustav Stresemann
Gustav Stresemann was given the job of German Foreign Minister during the six years commencing
1923. A foreign policy was needed. The German Nationalists needed to be given confidence in the
Republic as it was not happy with the Republic s acceptance of the VersaillesTreat. Throughout the
time of 1923 to 1929 Stresemann had certain choices to make which question whether he was acting
as a Good German or a Good European
There are arguments for both sides to the question. This essay looks at both sides to the argument and
gives an overall outlook on how Stresemann should be viewed.
Stresemann s ideology suggested he was working in an attempt for Europe s gain. As ... Show more

To do this, they could not go alone.
The effects of the war left much blame on Germanyand neighbours Austria, however Germanyfaced
the more vicious punishment. In June 1919 the Treaty of Versailleswas put into place. This forced
Germanyto pay mass redemption payments as part of this. It was Stresemanns job to control this; he
set about improving the relations with Britainand Francein an attempt to encourage a revision of the
Treaty. The German Nationalists were against the paying of the redemption payments however, but in
the running it would be of Germany s beneficial interest in order for the payments possible reduction.
The LocarnoAct in 1925 also could be based either for Germanyor for Europe. This pact meant
Stresemann accepting all western borders, however in Germany s best interest, it kept open the East,
where Germanycould concentrate their attack on.
Stresemann s main contribution into coming to terms with Europewas by joining the League of
Nationsand becoming part of the International organization. By accepting this offer bridges were built
stronger between the West and Europeand helped strengthen Germany s cause. However in the view
of the German Nationalists this was seen as perhaps a wrongly taken move as some saw it as too
dependant on the West.
Stresemann also staked his claims as a good European with the act of calling off passive

Marketing Concept From The List Supplied By Your Seminar...
Select a marketing concept from the list supplied by your seminar tutor. Using contemporary
marketing theory define your chosen marketing concept and demonstrate clearly how it is being
applied by an organization in your sector to target consumers like the one you have profiled.
Advertisement belongs to the promotional part of the marketing mix and Oxford Dictionaries (2015)
defines it as, a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event .
The main goal is to inform the consumers about the brand s or product s advantages or remind them
that they made the right choice when purchasing (Smith and Taylor 2004). With the evolution of the
world and therefore technology, new ways to promote products appeared, whether they are in the
media or online. This hold different advantages for organizations, whether it is a new method of notice
to existing customers about a new product or an offer that takes place in a given period by using
newsletters, or perhaps an advertisement on radio, TV or on a web page.

Nevada Essay
In population Nevada is one of the smallest states of the fifty states in the Union, but it invites and
receives more intense national publicity than many others. It is a testing ground for unorthodox social
theories and an outpost of solid American conservatism (313). Because the state is so large and its
centers of population is so widely scattered, no single generalization about it will suffice for a
historical summary. Nevada, with its 110,000 square miles, would cover more than half of Spain.
Nevada is not the largest state in the Union, but it is big enough to inspire awe in its visitors (2). About
86 percent of the land in Nevada was still under the control of the federal government as the year 2000

The Helldorado Parade was established in Las Vegas in 1935, and defined Las Vegas as a Western
town. Participants dressed up as cowboys and marched up downtown streets to large crowds. After the
El Rancho was established, three more Western Casinos opened for business. In 1941, El Cortez
opened as the first large hotel downtown. The hotel Last Frontier opened on the strip in 1942, and in
1946, the Golden Nugget opened downtown. The one big casino to the Western motif was Benjamin
Siegel s The Flamingo which opened in 1946. Siegel was a mobster with ties to the Chicago and
California networks, envisioned a jewel in the desert. The Flamingo was not a success and was
temporarily closed. It then re opened and had a diverse theme oriented style in the hotel casino
industry in Las Vegas. With the Corporate Gaming Act of 1969, Las Vegas began a slow transition
towards respectability. Gambling in Las Vegas was gaining in popularity in the 1950 s and 1960 s, but
the mob presence itself was preventing Las Vegas from attracting the necessary outside funds to turn it
into a dominant Metropolis (204). Nevada seemed to be shedding this image in favor of the many new
family oriented theme resorts that were being built, especially in Las Vegas (204). Then there s The

Interpreting The Results And Remediation
Interpreting the results and remediation. After the vulnerability assessment has taken place it is time to
interpret the results of the scan. This is where the organization finds out what the vulnerabilities of
their network are. The vulnerabilities that were found in the process of the assessment must be
categorized, most vulnerability scanners will produce reports that will list and categorize the threats
that were found, this is also called threat modeling which we will get into in the next section. Once
these results are analyzed the next step is to start remediating the vulnerabilities. Just like any other
updates, the remediation of vulnerabilities should be scheduled, change management is a very
important part of an organizations IT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the scans are complete and the current vulnerabilities are patched it is a good idea to implement
a regular scanning schedule, once per month is an acceptable frequency to scan the network for new
vulnerabilities. Vulnerability assessment is a continuous cycle due do new vulnerabilities being
discovered every day, organizations must stay on top of their game if they want their organization to
remain secure. Figure 1 illustrates the continuous cycle of vulnerability assessment.
Modeling and Determining Threats Threat modeling is a way to categorize threats using a structured
approach to address the threats with the most potential to do damage to a network. An example of a
threat model that is commonly used to rate threats is DREAD, this acronym stands for Damage,
Reproducibility, Exploitability, Affected users, and Discoverability. Each of these categories is
assessed a value from 0 10 with 0 being nothing and the being the most serious risk. (OWASP, n.d.)
An approach such as this will assist an organization in determining the importance and priority of
threats on their network. Another commonly used threat model is STRIDE, as seen in Table 2. The
following sections will walk through the entire process of threat modeling.
Identifying Assets To model threats, the organization will need to identify their assets. The assets will
typically be critical

Another Boring Assembly Was In The Making As I Walked Into
Another boring assembly was in the making as I walked into my junior high school gymnasium. My
best friend at the time, Kelsey, was very excited because the Valencia high school color guard was
going to perform one of their routines in an attempt to get people to join the team. She was already on
the guard, hence her motivation to attend this assembly. Before this point, I did not know color guard
even existed. According to Kelsey, color guard is a performing art in which a team performs a dance
routine centered around the use of flags, rifles, and sabers. Both her insistence and the awe inspiring
performance of the guard moved me to join the team my freshman year of high school. Even though
we did not win at championships, it was overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, we did not get into the top tier and did not win any awards that year. The head instructors
even chose to not criticize me for my drastic mistake, for they all knew it was all over and I was in a
dismal state of mind anyway. From that championship on, I had to work especially hard to reclaim the
trust of my instructors. Looking back, I can see now how hard it is to get someone s trust back once it
is lost. I practiced relentlessly throughout high school and was the best person on the saber line. Or I
would have been the best, but I could never be consistent, which is one of the most important skills to
have in color guard. I would throw my saber and catch a difficult toss ten times in a row perfectly,
then the next day drop it three times. Due to the inconsistency, as well as my history of crumbling
under pressure, my instructors would not allow me another solo toss on my color guard team again.
My experience has left a scar in my mind, to which I owe my persistence to not make promises I
cannot keep. The best way to keep someone s trust is to not break your promises to them. I
inadvertently made a promise to my instructors that they could trust me to catch my toss in our show
when all focus is centered on me. I let them down, therefore I was left to deal with the consequences.
Due to my hard work, I eventually came to prove to my instructors that I could toss beautiful tosses,

Animal Testing And Veterinary Purposes
Scientists told to stop wasting animal lives, this is an article from The Guardian, written by Robin
McKie. It addresses the issues about using animals to test products for us to use such as, medicines to

scientists to also test items we use daily such as makeup but this article is not talking about those
particular issues. This article is discussing about undergoing new guidelines for those that are carrying
out research using animals. The Research Council UK say they are now making scientists show their

Some statistics that overwhelmed me was that in Great Britain, 2013, 4.12 million scientific
procedures were done on animals, they were mostly rats and mice. About half of them involved
animals being gentically modified when breeding. The other half involved experiments on normal
animals, 58% of those were carried out for regular research, 26% for human medicine and only a
frightening 8% for veterinary purposes. I personally think that scientists just keep using animals
because their project isn t flawless and because they don t care about the animals and use as much as
they like and I thinlk that is cruel because they are wasting animals lives. Neuroscientist Malcolm

Gould And Lewontin Point Of View
Contemporary science has assimilated the bigotry views that it hoped to fend off. The scientific
community, their ideas and perceptions, account for the accepted scientific beliefs rather than the
perpetual, and actual scientific theories. Gould and Lewontin s essay The Spandrels of San Marco is
about an adaptationist programme and how it has taken over evolutionary belief in England and the
United States during the past forty years. The people believe in the power of natural selection as a key
mechanism of evolution. The writers don t see eye to eye with this thought and are trying to reassert a
competing theory that organisms must be seen as integrated wholes. Gould and Lewontin show their
explanations for a pluralistic perspective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the rest of Spandrels there is repetitive usage of the this connotation, that adaptation is the
only paradigm for science. Adaptation is elevated in status when the authors refer to the works done
by naturalists; the word choices of these experimenters place natural selection as the perfect
culmination of traits. Whereas as Gould and Lewontin s beliefs do not strictly follow one model for
nature; rather it incorporates all possibilities.
Gould and Lewontin also use quotations to further explain the pluralistic perspective of the
evolutionary theory. They refer to the paleontology article[, which] ends with a long quotation from
Count (1947) (Myers, 269). The goal that Gould and Lewontin go for referring to this event is having
a reader decide whether to take it as a prescient forerunner of Gould s opinion or as a dated belief now
superseded (Myers, 269). That is to say whether following pluralism is the opinion of Gould or
something necessary for science to advance and move forward. Gould and Lewontin use the example
of fingerprints at the end of their essay to get the readers to really consider the impacts that adaptation
has had;
Then I spoke of the failure to discover the origin of these patterns, and how the fingers of unborn
children had been dissected to ascertain their earliest stages, and so forth.

Political Economy Model Of Disease
The relationship between society and disease causes some of the most complex issues in existence
today. This complexity continues to grow, as the global community does not have a universal mode of
combating health decline. For this reason, some diseases and causative agents have thrived for
hundreds and thousands of years without a true cure. Fortunately, there are numerous scientific fields
dedicated to researching the problems and solutions that contribute to worldwide health. Medical
anthropology is one of the fields that attempt to bridge the gap between contrasting belief systems, and
ask the sensitive questions that politicians and world leaders avoid answering. For this reason,
understanding disease is becoming more available, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
43). The strength of these forces influenced people for centuries, and determined which individuals
thrived when illness spread. Although this model has only recently emerged, the hierarchy that existed
in every point in time shows that the model is accurate for its role in shaping overall health.
Historically, those in power were the first to receive treatment or prophylaxis against illness. Those
who could not contribute to the economy nor had a voice in politics were always at the greatest risk
for disease. Darwin s theory of evolution can be applied to the political economy model of disease
because the fittest individuals at a given time will overcome the challenges posed by the economic and
political demands. In modern times, this model is woven between the complexities of economic
development and the emergence of diseases that cause health decline. The state of the political
environment surrounding health and economics ultimately drives which issues are of most concern. In
United States politics, stem cell research, abortion, birth control, and cancer are important and
controversial health related topics. The reason these topics get the most attention is because they have
the potential to stimulate or hinder the economy, and create progress or partitions throughout the
country. When applying this model to smallpox, it is understood that the demand for vaccination and
eradication was stemmed from political motives. The desire to end worldwide epidemics was
appropriated through the global contributions that occurred hand in hand with foreign policies that
provided economic gain. The economic and political infrastructures at the time when smallpox was
eradicated called for worldwide compliance, especially as a way to come to a consensus

An Explanation Of The Postal Rule
(1)
The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation of the postal rule while dealing with acceptance
of an offer, as well as evaluating how effective the postal rule is today. The main body of this essay
will look at what the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer is, as well as the
circumstances surrounding the creation of the postal rule. There will also be an evaluation of the
effectiveness of the postal rule today. This will be summarised with a conclusion.
In most circumstances, the acceptance speaks only once it is received by the offeror. However, as seen
in the case of Adams v Lindsell in 1818, before the rule regarding the communication of acceptance
existed, the postal rule creates a problem as to when the acceptance becomes binding. In this particular
case the Court of King s Bench concluded the contract was formed when the letter of acceptance was
posted on September 5th (Furmston, 2012, p.70).
The decision in Adams v Lindsell did not instantly command uncritical acceptance. In 1880, in Byrne
v Van Tienhoven, Lindley J said It may be taken as now settled that, where an offer is made and
accepted by letters sent through the post, the contract is completed the moment the letter accepting the
offer is posted, even though it never reaches its destination. (Furmston, 2012, p.70).
The postal rule presents a number of questions within the law; such as can acceptance be recalled
before it reaches the offeror? In England, this question has no

My Father And Brother
It was late fall in 2009 when I quietly sat on the plane looking after my youngest brother who was
restlessly sitting besides me. We were heading back to my hometown, Kotzebue, Alaska, for a reason I
did not know about. Sitting without any worry at all, I over heard my mom quietly speaking to a friend
in the aisle in front of us. My mom gravely explained to her that my father and brother are lost in a
bitterly cold and extremely windy snowstorm outside of town. On that frigid October night, our hearts
were colder than ever before. I reflected on the horrible, life changing situation as I looked out the
airplane window into the dark sky. It s like my eyes were bleeding fear that my heart was feeling, what
would I do without my father and brother around? We finally landed in Kotzebue where our family
came to greet us with warm hugs. They had so much food and desserts made for when we got to my
Aunty s house. Every one we knew stopped by the house to check on us and tell us it was going to be
okay. At this time, Search and Rescue were already looking for my father and brother outside the
town. They searched and searched for them and could not find them. My dad said they went caribou
hunting and saw a big herd of caribou that they planned on distracting. So my dad and brother split up
with my uncle to go and distract the caribou. In an instant, a foggy snow storm rolled through and they
could not see town at all. My dad was driving the snow machine in circles, trying to

Hearing Loss At The University Of New South Wales
Hearing loss is problem that can occur anywhere, one of the most common places where this can
occur is at a concert. Scientist at the University of New South Wales in Australia believe that short
term hearing loss after being exposed to loud excessive noise is most likely the body s way of coping
with the situation. This defensive mechanism cannot cope or protect the ear with high frequency noise,
which could by caused by listening to loud music through headphones.
It is not the acute exposure but the continuous noise expose especially that of a high frequency that
can cause difficulties later on in someone s life. Our ears can adapt to loud noise or frequencies but
even then, like everything else they have their limits and when you exceed those limits, it can lead to
very negative outcomes.
Hearing loss can occur at any age, but this mostly affect children and young adults. Approximately 15
percent of Americans between the ages of 20 and 69, 26 million Americans have some form of hearing
loss due to high exposure occurring in places of work or recreational activities. About 16% of teens
have experience some form of hearing loss caused by loud noise according to a 2010 report based on a
survey from the centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC). Everything we hear in our
everyday lives has a decibel range, which it shows how loud the noise is. Such as the humming of a
refrigerator is 45 decibels, normal conversation is 60 decibels, an mp3 player at maximum

The Difference Between Shakespearean And Aristotelian Tragedy
Tragedies across Time
In our modern language, the word tragedy has become a word that describes mundane incidents that
are negative. At the most, a tragedy is used describe horrific event that involves severe misfortune;
however, when comes to the theatre term, the definition of tragedy is much more specific then the
modern use of the word. In essence, a tragedy depending on the time and place was used to tell the
tale of tragic hero and the flaw that contributed his eventual downfall. Unfortunately, this too simple
of an answer. Shakespearean and Aristotelian tragedy are the most widely excepted forms of theatric
tragedy, yet their execution and their method of exposition have major difference which greatly effects
the interpretation of the story.
To understand the differences between Shakespearean and Aristotelian tragedy, first it is important to
understand each style individually. Starting first with the oldest form, Aristotelian Tragedy, the key of
understanding is to understand its origins. B.L. Ullman, the mention of tragedy by Aristotle in his
book, Poetic, as he explains the fundamental differences between tragedy and history. This is where
the bases for Greek tragedy came forth. For Aristotle, tragedy was the following:
Tragedy, then, is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude; in
language embellished with each kind of artistic ornament, the several kinds being found in separate
parts of the play; in the form of

Difference Between Hard And Soft Skills
A few years back, a degree from a reputed university was enough for a job. Today, when things are
improved and advance, a degree cannot guarantee a job in any industry. Additional skills, knowledge
and expertise are also needed to secure your place in the industry today. Now you need both hard
skills and soft skills to survive in such a fast moving world.
Before moving further, let us explain what are hard skills and soft skills?
Hard skills (skills that are teachable and measurable) are also called technical skills and knowledge.
These skills can be learned and studied to get certain jobs in a particular sector. Typically, these hard
skills are listed on your resume. This is because these skills are the first thing that will get noticed by
the interviewer or hiring organisation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, a Business Development (BD) executive with thorough knowledge of its company s
services or products will surely have success, but the level of success is not as per the expectations.
On the other hand, with strong interpersonal skills that BD executive will be able to close more deals
and retain its clients. Similarly, a person on a responsible position should be a good listener, effective
speaker and a creative thinker. Every job role has its own requirements for some soft skills to make
hard skills worthy and useful.
Not All Soft Skills are Teachable: Hard skills are not hard to learn. They can be learned and taught
easily. On the other hand, soft skills are challenging and cannot be developed easily. Soft skills are
mainly associated with the character and qualities. A lot of commitment, conscious efforts and practice
required to improve these soft skills. Hard skills can boost up your resume, but soft skills can help you
stand apart from the crowd. You can also join skill development training in Delhi, India to sharpen

A person s sexual identity may seem like something obvious, something that should be an essential
characteristic of our lives. However as we have found, these things are not always so simple, often
finding that our sexual identity, is ever changing most of our lives. I have given my own identity some
thought and I find for me it wasn t easy. In this essay I will be discussing my own identity and my
reasons for coming to the conclusions that I have come to, and why I came to them (Rathus, Nevid,

Some researchers state that genetics and environmental factors are important determining element of
homosexual behavior. They also state that birth place relates to the sexual orientation of marriage
partner. Being born in urban settings increased the probability of homosexual marriage and decreased
the probability of heterosexual marriage. Everyone environment effects your sexuality in some way or
another either negative or positively by supporting or repressing it. It plays a role in whether your
homosexual, heterosexual, or bi sexual. (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2005) Our text states that
history places sexual attitudes and behavior in context. It informs us as to whether sexual behavior
reflects trends that have been with us through the millennia or the customs of a particular culture and
era. History shows little evidence of universal sexual trends. Attitudes and behaviors vary extensively
from one time and place to another. (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2005)
As stated in our text, gender identity is our psychological awareness or sense of being male or female,
and it s one of the most obvious and important aspects of our self concepts. Gender identity is almost

Table 2: Summary of characteristics Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA)
Characteristic Data Comments
Classification PSA is a glycoprotein produced by the prostate epithelial cells Cancer may elevate
levels both from increased production and because tissue barriers between the gland lumen and
vascular bed are disrupted.
PSA Levels PSA has a half life of 2.2 days and elevated levels vary in recovery depending on the
cause of the elevation PSA elevation may precede clinical cancer by 5 10 years.
Specificity PSA is organ specific, not cancer specific. Using 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal the
specificity is 91% and 85% for cut off of 3.0 ng/ml Elevated levels also found in BPH and
prostatitis/UTIs, post prostate biopsy and in acute urinary retention (do not test for 2 4 weeks).
Negligible level increases due to DRE.
Sensitivity Most screening studies use 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal levels, but a review of the
literature in 2006 showed the estimated sensitivity using 4.0 was only 21% for detecting cancer and
51% for detecting high grade (Gleason 8). In 2009, estimates of 4.3 to 73% sensitivity were given
(www.parliament.nz/resource0000166364). Using 3.0 cut off increased sensitivities to 32 and 68%.
(Arch Ital Androl 1006 78 (4) 125 9) Cancer may be present with normal PSA levels, and a PSA level
may not correlate with the acuity of the prostate cancer. A later study concluded that no single cut off

Essay on The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality
The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality
The principle of separate corporate personality has been firmly established in the common law since
the decision in the case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd[1], whereby a corporation has a separate legal
personality, rights and obligations totally distinct from those of its shareholders. Legislation and courts
nevertheless sometimes pierce the corporate veil so as to hold the shareholders personally liable for
the liabilities of the corporation. Courts may also lift the corporate veil , in the conflict of laws in order
to determine who actually controls the corporation, and thus to ascertain the corporation s true
contacts, and closest and most real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The veil of incorporation can be described as being the separation between a company and its
members. Due to the separate legal status of a company from its members this is usually very strictly
maintained. However, there are certain circumstances when the courts will deny the people who run
the company the advantage of hiding behind the corporate veil. In these instances the veil of
incorporation is said to be pierced or lifted , i.e. the barrier between a company and its members is
removed so there is no legal separation between them. There instances are however, difficult to predict
as the reasons depend on the judges interpretation of fairness or policy or of how a particular statute
should be interpreted.
In the leading case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd, Salomon incorporated his boot and shoe repair
business, transferring it to a company. He took all the shares of the company except six, which were
held by his wife, daughter and four sons. Part of the payment for the transfer of the business was made
in the form of debentures (a secured loan) issued by the company to Salomon. Salomon transferred the
debentures to Broderip in exchange for a loan. Salomon defaulted on payment of interest on the loan
and Broderip sought to enforce the security against the company. Unsecured creditors tried to put

Essay On Hand-Engineered Feature Extraction Techniques
2.1 Introduction
In last few years, remote sensing image scene classification has got a remarkable attention due to its
importance. Researchers are trying hard to classify remote sensing images correctly. For this reason,
we have studied different topics related to this research. Rest of this chapter will describe some
important Hand Engineered feature extraction methods along with deep learning technique. In section
2.2, we will discuss some hand engineered feature extraction methods, in section 2.3, we will discuss
some deep learning models and finally, in section 2.4 we will draw a conclusion.

LBP [1] is very simple to understand and easy to implement. To compute LBP at first we need to
divide the image into cells like 16X16. Then take a pixel into the grid and consider the neighboring
pixels around the pixel. If the center pixel value is greater than or equal to its neighbor, then consider
1 for the neighboring pixel otherwise consider 0. Then take the binary numbers in a sequence
(clockwise or anti clockwise). Assume the number is a binary number and compute the decimal
number. Then set the value to the middle pixel. Compute histogram for each 16x16 cells and finally
concatenate the histograms. The histogram gives the feature vector for entire window. Example of
LBP feature extraction is given in the Figure 2.1
Figure 2.1: Finding decimal value for central pixel using LBP
LBP has some limitations that reduces its application fields. LBP is not rotation invariant and the size
of the features increases exponentially with the number of neighbors which leads to an increase of
computational complexity in terms of time and space.
2.2.1 Noise Adaptive Binary Pattern (NABP)
Noise adaptive binary pattern [12] is a modification of local binary pattern. Though LPB is one of the
most powerful method for feature extraction but it has a lack of discriminative power and sensitive to
noise. LBP may produce same

Why Did The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
he eventual crash of the stock market altogether did not occur in one or two days, the crash was
several weeks of dropping prices, of course with the occasional fluctuation up, but inevitable to drop
once more. Leading up to the crash of the stock market many investors were playing the game of the
stock market by buying stock on margin. Buying on margin was essentially buying stock son credit, an
imaginary monetary value in a sense. Those using credit for stock and share purchases were, in a sense
promising that they would pay the amount eventually. This type of purchasing didn t actually give the
companies selling the stocks any real money. When prices of stocks continued to rise throughout the

The People s Republic Of China
The People s Republic of China (PRC) has experienced unprecedented economic growth under the
leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since 1978. In his speech The Present Situation and
the Tasks Before Us, Deng Xiaoping emphasized the importance of economic reform: The superiority
[of the socialist system] should manifest itself in many ways, but first and foremost it must be
revealed in the rate of economic growth and in economic efficiency (Deng 1980). With this explicit
commitment to growth, Deng links the political legitimacy of the CCP, as the monopolist of power
within the PRC, to economic performance. Therefore, the inevitable economic slowdown in the PRC
will undermine the legitimacy of the authoritarian CCP and force political liberalization. Given this
statement, I suspect two major questions have arisen: (1) How is economic slowdown in China
inevitable and (2) Could the CCP just adapt its basis of authoritarian legitimacy without political
liberalization? I will address both questions in full after examining the history of economic reform in
the PRC.
Economic Growth in the PRC from 1978 to 2016
The story of economic reorganization starts in 1978 after the Cultural Revolution when Deng, acting
as the paramount leader of the CCP, replaced collective farming with the household responsibility
system in which farmers were allowed to sell extra grain on the open market. With increased
incentives, agricultural production increased by 47 percent from

  • 3. Multi-Genre Project Analysis My process for creating this project was fairly simple. Upon being informed of this assignment, my gears started to turn. I asked my parents for possible ideas on my Multi Genre project. After consulting with them, I determined my project would be dedicated to my late grandmother. Upon deciding this, immediately, different emotions were present. I started off very optimistic and elated on the calming effects the project would bring. While writing my five original pieces and working on creating the website, I often felt waves of sadness and even began to tear up as I presented pieces of the project to my peers and even the students in my class. Upon completing the project, I began to feel at ease and felt as my grandmother were alive, she would be very proud of the life decisions I am making. The time has come to now present the final project to my father and my father s side of the family. I am apprehensive of the different emotions that will be presented. Yet, at the same time, my continual hope is that my family continues to find comfort and solace even though we continue to mourn the loss of our matriarch. ... So, being able to clearly express my feelings and be completely open aided in helping to heal my heart. Firsthand, as a teacher, I often tell my students as they write, be completely honest with yourself and let the ideas continue to flow. At the same time, I realized I was not taking my own advice. This project gave me the chance to implement some of the same strategies and guidelines suggested for my students. Skeletal Muscle Physiology Lab Report Skeletal Muscle Physiology Lab Report V17FAAnatomy Phys I (BIO 2011 VO02) Fall 2017 Michelle Leeman Objective: The intent of this lab is to observe the relationship between the muscles and neurons that generate movement throughout the body. We will interpret four (4) different simulations that initiate a stimulus varying in intensity, frequency, and weight, while recording its influence on muscle contractions. The goal of this experiment is to have an enhanced comprehension muscle contractions. Materials and Methods: The equipment used for all four activities include an intact skeletal muscle, electrical stimulator, mounting stand, and oscilloscope. Please note that the mounting stand includes a force transducer to measure the amount of force developed by a muscle, as well as a ruler that allows for the measurement of distance that the weight is lifted by the isolated ... The prediction was that as the load on the muscle increases the latent period would increase, the shortening velocity would decrease, the distance will decrease, and the contraction duration will decrease. The latent period is the period time that elapses between the generation of an action potential in a muscle cell to the start of a muscle contraction. It becomes longer as the load becomes heavier due to a rise in muscle tension but no movement or contraction of the muscle. Once the muscle tension surpasses the weight of the load an isotonic concentric contraction, or the shortening of muscles to move the load, commences. The shortening velocity is the speed of the contraction from the muscle shortening while lifting a load. Maximal shortening velocity is reached with a minimal load. With a light load, the shortening velocity is at its maximal shortening velocity; inversely, when the weight is heavy the speed in which the muscle lifts the weight decreases in speed at a slower velocity, as shown in Fig. ... • 5. Query Sequence And Analysis Of Verify3d According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 80.00% of the amino acid residues in this homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a passing model (Lüthy et al., 1992). However, between residues 44 66 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned against each other, the query sequence and template sequence consist of different types of amino acid residues in this range (Table 1). The query sequence consists of the residues YTAEADGNTIFTKTIPSGITISA, while the template sequence 4IPU_A consists of the residues KDWGKGLSIGVLASGSIAAPLRK. After analyzing these two aligned sequences, some stark differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, based on ProSA s local plot, the model displays low energy scores (negative delta g) throughout most of the plot in the template sequence, indicating a highly favorable model. Additionally, as shown in figure 1, for this template model, ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .659 (Uziela et al., 2017). Similarly, as shown in figure 2, for the experimentally determined structure of this template (PDB ID: 4IPU), ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .537. Since the template model scored slightly higher than the known structure and is closer to 1, the model generated can be deemed as acceptable. Overall, given the positive results of most of these these evaluation programs, it can be concluded that the template model 4IPU_A is likely reliable and gives a highly accurate alignment. According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 79.63% of the amino acid residues in this homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a warning model (Lüthy et al., 1992). This indicates that it may be a reliable model, but other evaluation programs must be used in order to verify this. Between residues 19 32 and 65 71 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned against each other, the query sequence and template sequence consist of different types ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Alliteration And Symbolism In Browning s Meeting At Night In the poem, Meeting At Night, alliteration and symbolism were used to describe about the sea, color, and nighttime in line one. The poem on line one states that The gray sea and the long black land; (Browning). Browning used alliteration in this line was with long and land to tell the audience that he sees nothing around him but water all around. He described the land as the color black to tell the audience it s dark outside or nighttime. The sea was being describe as the color gray to emphasize that it is night as well. He focused on reality instead of the art by not searching for more colors and stated the fact that everything was dark. This is how the author incorporated the alliteration and symbolism in this line tie the connection of the sea, color, and nighttime. The author also used alliteration and symbolism to extend his imagery of the scenery in his poem. Assuming that the match was struck, a blue spark must have appeared to get it lit. The color blue may be symbolized as heat due to the sparks being the beginning of the fire that the match has contained. The blue sparks can also be a symbol of passion due to the word spark being used as in relationships nowadays. The lighted match is also a symbol of heat. When something was lighted, then fire, which is very hot, must be involved. The lighted match may have led the audience think that the setting was during the nighttime. The German Nationalists needed to be given confidence in the Republic as it was not happy with the Republic s acceptance of the VersaillesTreat. Throughout the time of 1923 to 1929 Stresemann had certain choices to make which question whether he was acting as a Good German or a Good European There are arguments for both sides to the question. The effects of the war left much blame on Germanyand neighbours Austria, however Germanyfaced the more vicious punishment. In June 1919 the Treaty of Versailleswas put into place. This forced Germanyto pay mass redemption payments as part of this. It was Stresemanns job to control this; he set about improving the relations with Britainand Francein an attempt to encourage a revision of the Treaty. The German Nationalists were against the paying of the redemption payments however, but in the running it would be of Germany s beneficial interest in order for the payments possible reduction. The LocarnoAct in 1925 also could be based either for Germanyor for Europe. This pact meant Stresemann accepting all western borders, however in Germany s best interest, it kept open the East, where Germanycould concentrate their attack on. Stresemann s main contribution into coming to terms with Europewas by joining the League of Nationsand becoming part of the International organization. By accepting this offer bridges were built stronger between the West and Europeand helped strengthen Germany s cause. However in the view of the German Nationalists this was seen as perhaps a wrongly taken move as some saw it as too dependant on the West. It provides an international context for the issues being raised and greater sense of urgency for what is being advocated, Aung San also effectively uses her own experience in campaigning for human rights and power sharing in Burma, to emphasize the positive aspect of tolerance. The dimensions of suffering on the basis of differences are incomprehensible [link this to the aborigines]. She had asked herself, why is it so hard to find our commonalities? she cites prejudice and a tendency to be condemnatory rather than give praise to those who patiently bear the brunt of many misdeeds and indecencies. Using contemporary marketing theory define your chosen marketing concept and demonstrate clearly how it is being applied by an organization in your sector to target consumers like the one you have profiled. Advertisement belongs to the promotional part of the marketing mix and Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines it as, a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event . The main goal is to inform the consumers about the brand s or product s advantages or remind them that they made the right choice when purchasing (Smith and Taylor 2004). It is a testing ground for unorthodox social theories and an outpost of solid American conservatism (313). Because the state is so large and its centers of population is so widely scattered, no single generalization about it will suffice for a historical summary. Nevada, with its 110,000 square miles, would cover more than half of Spain. Nevada is not the largest state in the Union, but it is big enough to inspire awe in its visitors (2). The Helldorado Parade was established in Las Vegas in 1935, and defined Las Vegas as a Western town. Participants dressed up as cowboys and marched up downtown streets to large crowds. After the El Rancho was established, three more Western Casinos opened for business. In 1941, El Cortez opened as the first large hotel downtown. The hotel Last Frontier opened on the strip in 1942, and in 1946, the Golden Nugget opened downtown. The one big casino to the Western motif was Benjamin Siegel s The Flamingo which opened in 1946. Siegel was a mobster with ties to the Chicago and California networks, envisioned a jewel in the desert. The Flamingo was not a success and was temporarily closed. It then re opened and had a diverse theme oriented style in the hotel casino industry in Las Vegas. With the Corporate Gaming Act of 1969, Las Vegas began a slow transition towards respectability. Gambling in Las Vegas was gaining in popularity in the 1950 s and 1960 s, but the mob presence itself was preventing Las Vegas from attracting the necessary outside funds to turn it into a dominant Metropolis (204). This is where the organization finds out what the vulnerabilities of their network are. The vulnerabilities that were found in the process of the assessment must be categorized, most vulnerability scanners will produce reports that will list and categorize the threats that were found, this is also called threat modeling which we will get into in the next section. My best friend at the time, Kelsey, was very excited because the Valencia high school color guard was going to perform one of their routines in an attempt to get people to join the team. She was already on the guard, hence her motivation to attend this assembly. Before this point, I did not know color guard even existed. According to Kelsey, color guard is a performing art in which a team performs a dance routine centered around the use of flags, rifles, and sabers. From that championship on, I had to work especially hard to reclaim the trust of my instructors. Looking back, I can see now how hard it is to get someone s trust back once it is lost. I practiced relentlessly throughout high school and was the best person on the saber line. Or I would have been the best, but I could never be consistent, which is one of the most important skills to have in color guard. I would throw my saber and catch a difficult toss ten times in a row perfectly, then the next day drop it three times. Due to the inconsistency, as well as my history of crumbling under pressure, my instructors would not allow me another solo toss on my color guard team again. My experience has left a scar in my mind, to which I owe my persistence to not make promises I cannot keep. The best way to keep someone s trust is to not break your promises to them. I inadvertently made a promise to my instructors that they could trust me to catch my toss in our show when all focus is centered on me. I let them down, therefore I was left to deal with the consequences. Due to my hard work, I eventually came to prove to my instructors that I could toss beautiful tosses, but ... Historically, those in power were the first to receive treatment or prophylaxis against illness. Those who could not contribute to the economy nor had a voice in politics were always at the greatest risk for disease. Darwin s theory of evolution can be applied to the political economy model of disease because the fittest individuals at a given time will overcome the challenges posed by the economic and political demands. In modern times, this model is woven between the complexities of economic development and the emergence of diseases that cause health decline. An Explanation Of The Postal Rule (1) The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation of the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer, as well as evaluating how effective the postal rule is today. The main body of this essay will look at what the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer is, as well as the circumstances surrounding the creation of the postal rule. There will also be an evaluation of the effectiveness of the postal rule today. This will be summarised with a conclusion. In most circumstances, the acceptance speaks only once it is received by the offeror. However, as seen in the case of Adams v Lindsell in 1818, before the rule regarding the communication of acceptance existed, the postal rule creates a problem as to when the acceptance becomes binding. In this particular case the Court of King s Bench concluded the contract was formed when the letter of acceptance was posted on September 5th (Furmston, 2012, p.70). The decision in Adams v Lindsell did not instantly command uncritical acceptance. In 1880, in Byrne v Van Tienhoven, Lindley J said It may be taken as now settled that, where an offer is made and accepted by letters sent through the post, the contract is completed the moment the letter accepting the offer is posted, even though it never reaches its destination. (Furmston, 2012, p.70). The postal rule presents a number of questions within the law; such as can acceptance be recalled before it reaches the offeror? In England, this question has no ... Then take the binary numbers in a sequence (clockwise or anti clockwise). Assume the number is a binary number and compute the decimal number. Then set the value to the middle pixel. Compute histogram for each 16x16 cells and finally concatenate the histograms. The histogram gives the feature vector for entire window. Example of LBP feature extraction is given in the Figure 2.1 Figure 2.1: Finding decimal value for central pixel using LBP LBP has some limitations that reduces its application fields. LBP is not rotation invariant and the size of the features increases exponentially with the number of neighbors which leads to an increase of computational complexity in terms of time and space. 2.2.1 Noise Adaptive Binary Pattern (NABP) Noise adaptive binary pattern [12] is a modification of local binary pattern. Though LPB is one of the most powerful method for feature extraction but it has a lack of discriminative power and sensitive to noise. LBP may produce same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Hypoglycemia Case Studies Discussion This audit provides an insight into the prevalence of hypoglycemia in subacute setting with the aim of identifying precipitant factors and implementing prevention strategies. From this audit we found that there were 10% of patient with type 2 diabetes has moderate hypoglycemia episode whilst in the subacute hospital. This number is smaller than expected from previous audit done in Kingston center, estimating 20 30 cases of hypoglycemia per month. The team hypothesis that if hypoglycemia was defined as blood glucose level of less than 4.0mmol/l, we will have recorded a greater amount of episodes. December has recorded highest number of hypoglycemia. The reasons for this are unclear but could include festive season related variation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has a small number of patients in a single center in Kingston. The team is aiming to continue data collection for the next few months in order to get bigger number of patients with hypoglycemia. In addition, the precipitating factors of hypoglycemia require assessment from different medical response team which may lead to reporting bias. Point of care blood glucose level were used in the wards, the accuracy may have been limited, particularly at lower levels. (Rebel A1, 2012) The death data was acquired from the hospital s scan medical record, which only include patient who had inpatient death. To get a true picture of mortality, we will have to cross check for death data using birth, death and marriages ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Why Did The Stock Market Crash Of 1929 he eventual crash of the stock market altogether did not occur in one or two days, the crash was several weeks of dropping prices, of course with the occasional fluctuation up, but inevitable to drop once more. Leading up to the crash of the stock market many investors were playing the game of the stock market by buying stock on margin. Buying on margin was essentially buying stock son credit, an imaginary monetary value in a sense. Those using credit for stock and share purchases were, in a sense promising that they would pay the amount eventually. This type of purchasing didn t actually give the companies selling the stocks any real money. When prices of stocks continued to rise throughout the 20 s eventually peaking in the year of 1929, ... • 33. The People s Republic Of China The People s Republic of China (PRC) has experienced unprecedented economic growth under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since 1978. In his speech The Present Situation and the Tasks Before Us, Deng Xiaoping emphasized the importance of economic reform: The superiority [of the socialist system] should manifest itself in many ways, but first and foremost it must be revealed in the rate of economic growth and in economic efficiency (Deng 1980). With this explicit commitment to growth, Deng links the political legitimacy of the CCP, as the monopolist of power within the PRC, to economic performance. Therefore, the inevitable economic slowdown in the PRC will undermine the legitimacy of the authoritarian CCP and force political liberalization. Given this statement, I suspect two major questions have arisen: (1) How is economic slowdown in China inevitable and (2) Could the CCP just adapt its basis of authoritarian legitimacy without political liberalization? I will address both questions in full after examining the history of economic reform in the PRC. Economic Growth in the PRC from 1978 to 2016 The story of economic reorganization starts in 1978 after the Cultural Revolution when Deng, acting as the paramount leader of the CCP, replaced collective farming with the household responsibility system in which farmers were allowed to sell extra grain on the open market. With increased incentives, agricultural production increased by 47 percent from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
