Essay On LAA Testing
Due to increasing competition in the field of medical testing it has become prudent for Laboratorio De
Analisis Argentina (LAA) to evaluate its process and identify strengths and weaknesses to improve the
operations of their laboratories. An in depth investigation into day to day, step by step breakdown of
activities has uncovered where, and how LAA can achieve efficient operations. From the original
collection of samples to the final step of communicating the test results to the patients, LAA has
shown that they have created a process with numerous factors to success as well as room for
improvement. The following is a flow chart representative of the steps of the process and the reliance
each step has to other steps: While not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the company is adamant at meeting the 5,000 sample a day mark and removing demand variability
it may be worthwhile to look into holding off on samples arriving later in the day as to have
immediate work for testers and the latter steps at the beginning of the next day. Samples from the
second 8 hour shift of a certain day that are processed during the first 8 hour shift of the following day
will still meet the objective of communicating results within the 24 hour limit. This technique could
also potentially decrease standard deviation as it tries to evenly control the sample flow and demand
variability in the daily process. Routine delivery times for satellite and external labs could also lead to
more consistency within the process.
The table below represents the average samples processed per hour and per step, based off the

A Comparison of Three Advertisements Essay
A Comparison of Three Advertisements The word Media is a term for information or messages
conveyed by diferent channels (means) to an audience. Examples of media types are music, news,
radio etc. A symbol is a picture of something eg: a cross. A denotation is what you actuallly see. A
connotation however is the hidden meaning or sub text of a symbol. The anchor ties the picture down,
comfirms the message or adds to the idea of something. A stereotype suggests a typical image of
people that the audience recognises. Soft focus might imply romance, olden days and femininity. I will

It shows a wealthly city street, with the kind of victoran architecture you may see in an exclusive
shopping street like in London. It gives the impression of wealth, reinforced by the price of the shoe
which we see in the anchor for (£350).
The second jeep advert also has an area which is in focus and a area which is blurred. This time the
background is blurred and the car is in focus. The jeep is head on to the camera and this suggests
power, strenght and confidence. The jeep looks like it is going fast through the water because of the
water splashing everywhere and the detailed droplets in the air.
Adverts lay things out well. They use specail techniques to catch our eye and to make us read the
adverts. On the first advert they use the effect of 3 new cars on a white background. There is a box
under each of the cars with the price and the model of the car. That is the bottom 40%. The are parked,
facing the camera head on. This makes the cars look big and strong (exaggerated perspective). The
brand names of all these cars are at the bottom of the page. There is a flag pole which shows authority,
importance, tradition etc. On the car there are five spoked alloy s which suggest power, speed, eye
catchy, sporty, stylish etc. the car is a silvery colour and it stands out well from

Inaccuracy In Genetic Testing
Although researchers and scientists always aim to develop further beneficial advancements, some of
them might be as harmful and still controversial as they are supposed to be beneficial. Genetic
technologies are advancing at a very high rate. For example, genetic testing is widely available
nowadays. It is a test that identifies whether an individual is carrying the gene for a specific disease or
disorder. Through genetic testing, parents can be provided with genetic information about the health of
the fetus by simply taking a blood sample and testing it. However, implications arise as genetic
technology is not very accurate. Although a positive result indicates a higher possibility of carrying
the disease or disorder and a negative result indicates a lower possibility, there is always that other
possibility of a false result (Women s Health Care Physicians). Inaccuracy in genetic testing causes a
controversial question on whether individuals should risk the choices by trusting and basing their life
on nothing but expected results. Even more concern is caused due to rejections of going through
genetic testing and consequently, a possibility of giving birth to a defected baby and not taking benefit
of the technology. Many agree that not taking a genetic test avoids a lot of the emotional issues and
stress that could arise with the results. Others believe that this technology should play a major part of
everyone s life as it allows individuals to be more aware of the

Newark High School Rewriting Research Paper
The public school system in Delaware isn t exactly prestigious. Senior English Honors required a total
of three written papers, one of them over the summer, and the writing focus was on the CSQT. A
simple formula for a paragraph that a monkey could handle, its meaning is Claim, Set up, Quote, and
Tie in. If you had an opening and closing paragraph and three CSQT s in a paper at Newark High
School, you were a genius. Joseph Harris, the writer of the textbook Rewriting: How to do Things
with Text, implores his readers to think of the act of writing as re writing. Taking information,
thoughts, ideas, concepts from writers and utilize them with new concepts to create a fresh and more
tailored piece from the new writer s perspective, essentially using old to create new, the theory of
conservation of mass applied to writing. This process of taking others work and utilizing it for
rewriting, is very different than what Newark High School had in mind, for the concept of the CSQT
left little room for creativity. The focus was on making a claim, and using quotations to point out why
that stance was the best choice. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any journaling that is done is essentially the dumping of all internal feelings onto paper. There is no
rhyme or reason to what is on the paper, it s just whatever feeling happens to be at the forefront of the
mind at the time. Quotes are often involved in journaling as well as activities like blogging or
emailing, however they are included to stand alone, functioning as a reminder or a type of
encouragement, for either the author or the recipient. In such mediums like emailing or blogging, the
reiteration of the day s events may include summaries of books read or phrasing of new ideas
introduced throughout the day mixed with personal opinions on what occurred. Therefore, if you

High Intensity Interval Training ( H.i ) Essay
Acute: sharp or severe in effect; intense
Conjugated: joined together, esp. in a pair or pairs; coupled
There are tons of articles trumpeting the benefits of high intensity interval training (H.I.I.T.), making
claims of accelerated fat loss and increased heart function when compared to steady state cardio.
There are tons more articles espousing the benefits of high intensity weight training for these same
goals as well as increased bone density. Literally, there are tons. I ve printed them out and weighed
them all.
Luckily for you, I also read all of those articles I found and I ve come to the conclusion that they re
onto something. H.I.I.T. is much better for most individuals overall health and fitness than long
endurance type cardio sessions. Weight training builds bones, just like milk was supposed to. Both
forms of exercise affect the hormonal system positively, eliciting a post exercise response that uses a
substantial amount of energy from optimal sources throughout the day. This is the basis of A.C.T., or
Acute Conjugated Training.
Benefits of High Intensity Exercise
Before I tell you about A.C.T., let s get a brief review of the benefits of both high intensity resistance
and interval training. Below is a non comprehensive list of clinical evaluations that show the many

Science Engagement
The Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), a
Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), was established in 2008 with the mission to support students
majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines with the challenges
they face in their academic and career development. Mentoring relationships, critical components of
the SCSE s influence, are fostered by the SCSE s advisors, mostly Ph.D. level minority scientists.
Accessibility to STEM professionals who reflect the student population has allowed students to
envision themselves as scientists. SCSE advisors have systematically implemented holistic advising

The cornerstone of the SCSE, holistic advising, has played a pivotal role in creating and sustaining
mentoring relationships with students. Advisors help recruit students into the sciences via STEM class
visits at the beginning of each semester and through holistic advising, including coaching in academic,
career and professional development. SCSE staff focus on providing workshops aimed at increasing
student professional development, including the importance of networking, a tool that many minority
students are unfamiliar with (Stolle McAllister, 2011). Additionally, relationships between advisors
and faculty have enabled a multi layered approach in intervention with struggling students. The
collaborative nature of relationships between instructors and advisors has also created a network in
which students can learn of opportunities in STEM, such as undergraduate research opportunities that
advance their professional development. SCSE advisors also provide assistance with resume building
and writing statements of purpose, and provide guidance throughout the application process for
graduate education. Since its inception, the SCSE has had a specific focus on interactive, student
centered engagement strategies. In this paper we present the Student Center for Science Engagement

History furnishes few examples of daring and adventure comparable to those of the fur trappers and
hunters of the Great West. Jedediah Strong Smith was a was a clerk, frontiersman, hunter, trapper,
author, cartographer, and explorer. Known for his great contributions for travel, he and his fellow
trappers were the forerunners of advancing civilization in the West. They explored the regions west of
the Mississippi, from the confines of the Arctic ocean in the North to the borders of Mexico in the
South. All without government protection, they traversed through perilous mountain ranges filled with
savage foes. Canoed over uncharted waters, and only narrowly escaped. Jedediah s adventures were

Analysis Of Kay Redfield Jamison s An Unquiet Mind
The prologue of An Unquiet Mind by Kay Redfield Jamison opens with Kay running and is with a
colleague. She explains that as a child she had multiple mood changes and how she is trying to turn
her illness into a beautiful thing. In chapter 1, Kay is playing in the playground when a military jet
crashes into a row of trees. Her father shows signs of manic depression. Kay moves to California with
her family where she feels that she has been taken away to a different world. By the age of 17, she has
her first manic episode. In chapter 2 of Part 1, Kay attends UCLA. During one of her manic episodes,
she has an urge to buy Idylls of the King and buys a dozen books that are all related to it. Kay decides
to buy a horse instead of going to a psychiatrist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jamison attends a medical conference and a presentation is made about the discovery of watery
deposits in the brain tissue of manic depressives, which interests her. Jamison begins to ponder her
previous qualms about discussing her illness. She focus on the issues concerning her own
embarrassment, cruelty from her colleagues and friends, and protecting her own family members.
Jamison is grateful for a more balanced life. She is aware of the danger that the slightest mania may
turn into wild insanity that can lead to death. She feels herself a survivor. In the end, Kay poses the
hypothetical question whether or not she would choose to have manic depressive illness, if given the
choice. If lithium was not readily available to her she would say no, but if it was available she said
yes. In Part 4, the explanation of her feelings towards the term bipolar disorder changed my outlook
on the illness.. I understand her qualms about the term implying that there is a distinction between
depression and manic depressive illness. From now on I will refer to the term bipolar disorder as
manic depressive illness. The discovery of watery patches in manic depressives brain tissue was very
interesting. It was rational for Kay to be afraid to share her illness with the world, since it could
change the way people see her. Also, there are endless traumatic possibilities and it is scary to think
that so many disorders go unnoticed. The passages in the memoir flooded me with all kinds of
emotions. It was also interesting to read that she would not give up this illness after all the agony it

Advantages Of User Innovation
The Advantages of User Innovation supporting document
Introduction
As the term suggests, User Innovation describes innovation created by any form of user, in contrast to
the traditional innovation approach which focuses on the producer only. It forms a major part of the
current trend of Open Innovation, which is expected to become an essential part and standard in most
companies innovation management within the next 10 years. Open Innovation in this context means
the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge to accelerate internal innovation, and to
expand the markets for external use of innovation, respectively (Chesbrough, 2006). In general, Open
Innovation is a comparably new field of study defined in the late 1980`s, and research focuses still

The market share in year 5 of the Lead User s products reached 68%, compared to 33%. Finally, the
estimated sales are more than 8 times higher compared to traditional product development.
Reasons
One of the reasons for its success is the following: Lead Users, who are invited to Lead User
Workshops, have needs that are ahead of the rest of the market. Rather than market research, which
focuses on the average users, Lead Users reveal what the majority of the market will demand in the
future even before Early Adopters do. Then, they help during the workshop to readily develop
products that are perfectly suited to this future demand. When doing this, they are not biased by
functional fixedness, which leads to the strong tendancy to create new product lines instead of
incremental innovations.
All in all, the Lead User method represents the perfect recipe to create an incredibly profitable
monopoly situation when launching the new product.

Saving Normal
What is normal? Normal, like the word love, has no true definition and will differ with every person
you ask. Defined in the dictionary normal is to conform to a particular standard or desired pattern . I
believe most people will say a normal person is one whom is free from defect, handicap and mental
illness. Medicalization is a social process through which a previously normal human condition
whether is be behavioral, physiological or emotional, becomes a medical problem in need of
treatment. For example, not long ago being a shy person, being reserved or having or showing
nervousness or timidity in the company of other people , was common and something most people
experienced at some points in their lives. However, now shyness ... Show more content on

This resulted in them asking their doctors, mostly primary care physicians who have little training in
psychology, about a variety of prescription drugs. The doctors, whom are easily influenced by the
young, sales representatives, are given free samples from drug companies which further pushes the
prescribing of expensive medications. Primary care doctors prescribe 80% of psychotropic drugs and
as mentioned prior have little training and/or little interest in psychiatry; in addition they spend little
time actually evaluating symptoms. A majority of these doctors tend to favor pill solutions and some
even build their practice on becoming known for passing out prescriptions for whatever the patients
wants. A consequence of diagnostic inflation leads to an increased cost for unnecessary drugs and
psychiatric treatment.
Americans are now spending billions of dollars on psychiatric medications but according to Frances
We are ignoring the people who have severe psychiatric illness; so that, one third of people with
severe depression see a mental health clinician, two thirds don t. Two thirds of people with severe
depression get no treatment at all. At the same time, we re way over diagnosing people who have
milder problems that would get better on their own. Diagnosis can cause more harm than good when
not really needed. We are over treating those who don t need treatment, while neglecting those who
do.

Review Of The Of Jesus Christ

Short essay 2 on Christology
For as long as 2000 years millions have asserted Jesus as their rescuer and staked their lives and their
endlessness on His promises. In the story of Jesus Christ is a falsehood then it is impressively the best
and most preposterous scam to ever deify itself and pressure humankind. However, in the event that it
is true, we must choose the option to consider Him important, neglecting to do as such could cost you
everything. Eventually in each of our lives we must face the subject of Jesus Christ. [1]
It appears that the contentions against Jesus deity are far more noteworthy; nonetheless, there are
some who might argue against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more dubious and fervently argument is over Jesus deity. Many commentators will inside and out
deny Jesus as God; also, some Christians will deny His divinity too. Some will go similarly as saying
that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses this issue
by expressing: A man who was merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be a great moral
teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or else he
would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God:
or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool; you can spit at Him and kill
Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God [2]
The Old Testament anticipated the coming of Jesus in more than 100 particular predictions, which
Jesus satisfied, having no human control to do as such with such accuracy whether circumstantially or
purposefully. In the New Testament, Jesus claimed to be God. These cases were unmistakably
comprehended by His crowd. Along these lines affecting charges of obscenity, irate responses,
endeavors at stoning Him, and eventually His crucifixion. The most strong and direct claim of
holiness can be found in John 8:58 , before Abraham was born, I am! This verse has been paralleled
with the Exodus 3:14 utilization of I AM when God uncovered Himself to Moses, the correlation
confronts the phonetic

Reflection On Decision Making Process
Out of the topics covered in this course, the decision making process was the most important for me.
During this lecture, I found myself agreeing with a lot of the material covered and also learned some
new things about myself. The decision making process enables us to evaluate a situation, process the
information given, and determine a course of action to take. Whether if it s in the workplace, school,
or in our personal life, we will face all kinds of choices each day. Every decision we make will have
an effect on the outcome of our future. In my own personal life, I go through simple decisions like
determining what to wear, which route to take to school, and what to eat that day. Most of my daily
decisions are made instantaneously but in some cases, like group projects, I have to put more effort
into my thinking process. In class, I learned that from a managerial point of view, they make more
important decisions such as hiring or firing someone, deciding who will be in charge of a project, and
deciding if they should launch a new product line. In general, having good decision making skills is a
benefit because then others will also have trust in our abilities. When we make decisions, it is common
for us to make our judgements based on information that is more available in our memory. This is
called availability bias and it is something that I always fall victim to. For example, I always thought
that airplane crashes happen quite frequently, which is why I have a fear of

The Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials
Introduction
The Salem Witch Trials were started after a group of three girls started to have fits, and were accused
of being possessed by the devil and performing witchcraft. One of the girls, Tituba a Caribbean slave,
had confessed that she had encountered the devil in a dream and the devil had requested her to serve
him. The Salem Witch Trials had caused mass hysteria throughout Massachusetts, but once the
governor s wife had been accused of witchcraft the governor had stepped in to put a stop to the Salem
Witch Trials.
Conflict
The Salem Witch Trials began after a group of three girls became sick in 1962. These girls started to
have fits, which included throwing things, moving into weird positions and screaming. The local
doctor blamed this ailment on supernatural and accused the girls of being possessed by the devil.
Tituba, a Caribbean slave, admitted to being possessed by the devil after he appeared in one of her
dreams asking her to do his bidding, but neither of the two other girls had confessed to being
possessed by the devil even after Tituba had.
During the Salem Witch Trials, 20 people and even two animals were killed. Most people believe that
people that were accused of being witches were burned at the stake during The Salem Witch Trials,
but contrary to popular belief not a single person was killed by being burnt at the stake. Most of the
people killed during the Salem Witch Trials were actually killed by being hanged on a hill that is now
known as Gallows

Evaluation Of Water Related Climate Change Adaptation...
The aim of this research is to develop a set of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of water related
climate change adaptation interventions at the local community level in Thai Binh province. This will
help authorities at high levels, NGO officers, local residents and other beneficiaries as they can
evaluate the effectiveness of water related interventions. The robust indicators will help to adjust the
adaptation targets for given times, to ensure the accountability to stakeholders, to provide evidence for
the effects of intervention, to motivate all partners, to fundraise, and to reveal the shortcomings in the
implementation of water related adaptation interventions {Hobson, 2014 #328}.
This research will apply the sustainable livelihood framework and the local community participation
to develop the indicators. The sustainable livelihood framework approach will consider
comprehensively and scientifically the livelihood components of local residents. The authorities at the
higher levels, therefore, can more easily listen to and understand the local voices and have much more
respect and corporation with the local residents. In addition, the local community participation
methods will reveal the local residents perspectives of their needs, priorities and visions. The local
residents will also be able to understand the effects of adaptation interventions, to gain the skills in
observation of changes and to improve their adaptive capacity to adverse impacts of climate

Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement
of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain
safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for
such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 499
pedestrian fatalities in 2011, and in 2015 that number had increased to 632, an approximately 27%
increase in fatalities. With that being said, traffic regulation should be a priority. Traffic laws are great
advocates for road safety, but a law cannot enforce itself nor can it keep everybody safe. That is why
the use of traffic and road signs is important: they enforce and they protect. For instance, it is a
generally known that you cannot exceed the speed limit of twenty miles per hour inside a school zone;
however, most people wouldn t know that they were in a school zone if there hadn t been a sign that

The Major Environmental Cause And Environmental Effects Of...
Approximately 150,000 babies born in the United States every year are affected by birth defects, at
least 25 percent of those birth defects are environmentally caused (Birth Defects Statistics). Not only
do birth defects affect thousands of babies, other developmental problems such as low birth weight
and preterm labor also have an effect on a staggering number of children. Some developmental
problems and birth defects are unavoidable, but environmentally caused issues can and should be
prevented. Factors that are considered to be environmental include smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol,
using illegal drugs, taking prescription medications, having infectious diseases or sexually transmitted
diseases, and having poor nutrition. Environmental factors can cause birth defects and developmental
complications, but due to the limited amount of treatments, making appropriate nutrition and lifestyle
decisions during pregnancy can prevent these detrimental issues.
Birth defects and developmental complications can be caused by non environmental factors, or
environmental factors. Genetics and heredity are known causes of birth defects that are not
environmental factors. Birth defects such as Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis,
Sickle Cell Anemia are examples of genetics and heredity issues, which are unavoidable and can not
be prevented. However, environmental factors including: alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, prescription

effective in giving an approximation of the locations of the Drop Zones, therefore pilots needed to
visually identify the Aldis Lamps in the darkness. Some pilots found nothing the pathfinders did not
have enough time to set up the drop zones, or that German troops were nearby and had to rely on
landmarks such as railroads and towns to make a reasonable guess of their Drop Zones. This created a
great amount of confusion, and as a result the majority of the parachute drops were badly scattered.
Another possible source of the scattered drops was the enemy anti aircraft gun firing on the aircrafts,

Fischer Esterification
Fischer Esterification of (1,3 Dimethylbutyl) Acetate from 4 Methyl 2 Pentanol Alison Evans Anne
Richards TA: Dylan Kahl Tuesday 11:30am 2:20pm 81807 Abstract: An ester was synthesized during
an organic reaction and identified by IR spectroscopy and boiling point. Acetic acid was added to 4
methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This produced the desired ester and water.
After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was calculated from the 0.872 g of ester
recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to product getting stuck in the apparatus. The
boiling point of the ester was 143° C, only one degree off from the theoretical boiling point of the
ester 1,3 dimethylbutyl, 144 ° C. The values of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If necessary the centrifuge can also be used to further separate the two layers. A final means of drying
the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the product can
be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point determination. A general
idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have specific smells and if the scent can
be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created. IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds
of the functional groups. The ester can be considered pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR
spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it
would mean the ester is not completely pure. Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity
and how pure the final product is. Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature
value allows for determination of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the
experimental value is within the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure.
Procedure: A 10 mL round bottom flask was weighed both before and after approximately 1.5 mL of
the given alcohol, 4 methyl 2 pentanol, was added. 3 mL of glacial acetic acid, one boiling chip, and 2
3 drops of concentrated sulfuric acid were added to the flask in that order. The reflux apparatus was
assembled, the

Toyota Production System As part of Toyota Global, Toyota Australia inherited legendary Toyota
Production System (TPS). TPS was created by the founder of Toyota Motor Corporation as a set of
principles that have been proven in day to day practice over many years (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS
has three desired outcomes: To provide the customer with the highest quality vehicles, at lowest
possible cost, in a timely manner with the shortest possible lead times. To provide members with work
satisfaction, job security and fair treatment. It gives the company flexibility to respond to the market,
achieve profit through cost reduction activities and long term prosperity. (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS
consists of Kaizen, Just In Time (JIT), and Jidoka. Kaizen means never stop improving. Toyota
encourages its employees to not only follow the rules, but also improve the rules to achieve highest
productivity. Just In Time means to produce necessary units in the necessary quantities at the
necessary time. Jidoka means automation with a human touch (Toyota Australia n.d.). Toyota

Factors Affecting The Deficiency Of Vitamin
Vitamin A (VA) is an essential nutrient which is needed in small amounts for the normal functioning
of the visual system, growth and development, immune function and reproduction. Severe deficiency
of VA is known to produce corneal xerophthalmia, keratomalacia and blindness in children and it is
mainly seen amongst the young children, because they have high requirements due to increased
physical growth and have low dietary intake. India has the highest prevalence of clinical and
subclinical VA deficiency among South Asian countries. Poverty, culture and nutrition education are
the major contributing factors for this vitamin deficiency. In this paper, I would like to discuss those
factors that are affecting the deficiency of Vitamin A in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around one million children suffer from vitamin A deficiency in India at any one point of time
because of poverty (UNICEF, 1998). Leafy vegetables which appear to be the only practical source of
dietary carotenes are not generally consumed by the poor rural families (Devadas, 1983). In India
reports concluded that 62% of preschool children were reported to be deficient in vitamin A. These
dramatic results suggest high mortality rate, leading to an annual 330,000 child deaths (Mitra AK,
1998). To conclude this, the above statistics are suggest that poverty is the sole contributor to almost
50% of the Vitamin A deficiency among the population of India.
However, poverty is not only the cause for the deficiency. Other factors like culture and consumption
pattern of food play a key role in affecting the deficiency of Vitamin A. Examining the general food
pattern of families is a necessary first step in order to understand food patterns of vulnerable
individuals. In India, the majority of families eat three meals a day and the first meal of the day often
consists of the leftovers from the previous night. Several ethnic and economic factors prevent people
from consuming some foods like eggs, meat and fish which are good sources of Vitamin A.
Ethnographic instructions and historical or cultural behaviours are the main reasons for

Investigating The Effect Of Different Masses Hoisted By An...
Abstract (Kaley Barnes and Isabelle Cunis): Using an electric motor, an experiment was performed to
test the efficiency of the motor when the mass being lifted was increased in increments of ten grams.
As the mass increased by each increment of ten grams, the motor efficiency decreased by an average
of 7.439%. Our results were found by using the equation: efficiency=gain in potential
differenceelectrical energy used Therefore, this inverse relationship proved mass affects the efficiency
of electric motors.
Introduction ( Jackson Cates and Aidan Rogers):
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different masses hoisted by an electric
motor from ground level to a height of 1.29 m. The main purpose was to look how a change in mass
affected the efficiency of our motor, but it did affect other variables such as power, current, force, etc.
For this experiment, our hypnosis is that as mass increases, the efficiency increases. Because in the
equation for efficiency, efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used, gain in potential
difference = mgh, the mass of an object has a direct relationship with the efficiency of the motor. In
this equation, we see that efficiency is affected by the mass that is lifted, gravity, the height the mass is
being lifted, and the amount of energy that is put into the system. We can see that mass, gravity, and
height has a direct relationship while inputted power has an inverse relationship with efficiency.

Wealth Argument Analysis
A middle class citizen sits in a courtroom while a wealthy citizen sits in a different courtroom. Same
charge, different outcome. The wealth gives the first class citizen a very unfair advantage within the
judicial system. First, he can hire lawyers that know how to find any and every loophole in the system
to get their client off with little to no charges. Even if the charge is as drastic as manslaughter. This
happens everyday all over the country as wealth bails people out of consequences.

entailed important changes well known to historians in the ways these peoples organized their lives,
but it also involved fundamental reorganizations less well known to historians in the region s plant and
animal communities, (Cronon, xv). New England went through human development, environmental

Europeans had such high aspirations of New England that they couldn t comprehend the fact that

Medical Futility
Nurses are faced with ethical dilemmas regarding medical futility often. Physicians, the care
providers, and often the patients family, contribute to the decision making process when medical
futility exists and strive at a correct and ethical decision. Medical futility is generally a term defined as
treatment or clinical interventions that are not likely to result in benefit to the patient or produce the
expected outcome. (Terra, Powell) Applying the concept of medical futility poses significant ethical
and moral predicaments. Central to any discussion about limiting or withholding medical intervention
is essential to clinical utility and the ethical tenets of the patients justice and autonomy. Health care
providers, including nurses, often find themselves in critical situations where the choice of treatment
seems to lie in the hands of the patient s family as the decision makers. In many of these cases,
individuals dictate care and insist on treatments that may or may not be supported by the medical
teams that are involved in that patients care. Medical futility can be described as interventions that are

Even though a big part of your health is depended on your diet and what you eat, I still think that

I believe that not letting your kid do sports is wrong because it is normal and alright for a kid to get
hurt while playing because it can help them learn from it. Getting injured is bad for kids but that kids
should do competitive sports because kids can gain more self esteem, learn to work better with others,
and be more healthy. Self esteem cannot be handed to kids; they have to earn it. Competition is one
way kids earn self esteem. When you develop a talent and work hard for a result, it feels great. When
you fail and learn that can bounce back, you feel more confident in yourself because you understand
that you have resilience. Team sports teach kids how to work well with their teammates. It also brings
out the natural leader in them. Later in life when they are working in the real world, the skills that they
developed in working together comes into play. A big part of being successful in life and work is being
collaborative and working well with others. Researchers believe playing high school sports, which
usually involve regular practices and competitions, reduces a child s chances of having a weight
problem because of the strenuous and consistent workouts. Therefore, study authors conclude,
increasing a child s opportunity to play sports, even if they are not gifted athletes, should be a priority,
especially for teens and children entering middle school or high

Examples Of Religious Hypocrisy In Tartuffe
Moliere s Tartuffe attacks religious hypocrisy through one person, Tartuffe. Tartuffe is an imposter,
who has no morals and only uses religion as a cover up for his vices and crimes. He pretends to be
extremely pious, but his actions go entirely against the moral codes of his religion. In Act 3, Scene 2,
when he sees Dorine, Tartuffe tells her, Cover that bust. The flesh is weak. Souls are forever damaged
by such sights, When sinful thoughts begin their evil flights. (lines 8 10) Tartuffe preaches the
importance of celibacy here. However, in the next scene, he contradicts what he tells Dorine. He
blatantly seduces Elmire and urges her to betray her husband. He takes her hand and presses her
fingertips (Molière 87) and places his hand on her knee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Molière s juxtaposition of Tartuffe s behavior in these two scenes enables the audience to clearly see
the inconsistency between his words and actions. Tartuffe s drastic change of behavior in the course of
two scenes produces a comic effect that is intended to satirize the kind of religious hypocrisy
embodied in Tartuffe.
Like Molière, Voltaire attacks religious hypocrisy. However, unlike Tartuffe, which embodies religious
hypocrisy in a single person, Candide focuses on the religious hypocrisy of entire religious
organizations. Voltaire believes that the priesthood of the Catholic Church and the Jesuits, in
particular, are especially hypocritical. The clergy tell people to follow a set of rules and moral codes
and severely punish those who transgress them. However, they themselves do not obey these rules and
codes. For example, some Franciscans and Jesuits are found to have syphilis

Comparing Goldilocks And Little Red Riding Hood
Have you ever put much thought into the decisions of the fairy tale characters that you grew up
hearing about about? Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe their actions and decisions
resemble each other? Goldilocks and the three bears is a classic fairy tale that most children grow up
hearing, Goldilocks made plenty of decisions; she decided to go into the forest, she decided to enter a
house, she discovered, she decided to eat porridge, to sit in a chair, and to doze off in a bed that she
found. Goldilocks made a lot of decisions, she wasn t the only one though. Little Red Riding Hood is
another fairy tale that we all know. Little Red made numerous decisions herself, she decided to bring
her ill Granny some soup in hopes of making her feel better. Little Red decided to go into the woods
alone, she decided to proceed fearlessly into the woods, even though there may be a malicious wolf
lurking in the trees. Goldilocks and Little Red both made decisions, those decisions were similar, in
that both of their decisions involved the girls going into the woods unaccompanied, going into a house

Female Characters in John Steinbeck´s East of Eden
When it comes to female characters, authors depict women with a sense of realism, that being that
they are a common folk with a usually large but simple impact in the story. On the contrary, John
Steinbeck s female characters in his novel East of Eden do not have the sense of being normal women,
and he goes to extremes when it comes to the women being good or bad. Faye, Olive, and Cathy are
all women that have taken to extremes in their acts of kindness or evil. Faye is too good of a person,
especially in the society that she is in. Olive helps an enormous amount in the military with work she
has done that seemed unlikely for her to do by herself. Cathy, on the other hand, commits horrible acts
that would immediately classify her as mental, but is ironically one of the smartest characters in the
novel. These kinds of women are uncommon, especially in their society.
Faye is the owner of a brothel and almost immediately takes in a new girl, Cathy, as her daughter.

The Influence Of Mass Media
Turn on the television, computer, smartphone, or tablet and the majority of the time an advertisement
depicting youthful faces will appear within 10 minutes if not the first 5 seconds of a loading youtube
video. Beauty products, weight loss programs and suppliments, plastic surgery references and
encouragement, tickets to events or locations which stimulate feelings of nostalgia bombard viewers
from every angle. This bias of youthful appearances is the basis of American media. The mass media
is in the business of affecting how and what people think (Summers). By Summers definition it can be
concluded that, as the majority of people build the culture of a society and media affects how and what
people think, mass media is creating a culture obsessed with youth. Americans have a fascination with
youth and are reluctant to accept aging gracefully. The obsession of youth is not an American
phenomena. Countries and societies in the modern world and throughout history have been interested
in discovering methods of reversing the biological clock through means of beauty products and
practices so that individuals may appear younger, and thereby, more beautiful. World wide, making
changes to one s appearance to reverse, halt, or prolong the human lifespan has been embodied by
myths as early as 3,000 B.C.E. and perhaps earlier (Binstock). Further, actual records of such practices
have been traced back to 2,500 B.C.E.(Binstock). By analyzing this research, it can be concluded that

Behaviorism emerged in the early years of the twentieth century as a counterbalance to the
psychoanalytic approaches of therapy and psychology. Skinner was born in 1904, just nine years after
Freud published Studies on Hysteria. Both of these opposing theories, psychoanalysis and
behaviorism, have greatly influenced the way we think of the human mind. I lean more towards the
behaviorists approach because what I have read about Skinner has resonated with me. I will use
behaviorism to approach my own inner introspection and hopefully come away from this more
enlightened about myself. The classic nature verse nurture debate has been rocking the boat in
psychology since Socrates time. Skinner and behaviorists tend to lean much more towards the nurture
side of this debate, believing that an individual s behavior is a direct consequence of what that
individual has experienced in the past, especially within the context of reinforcement and punishment.
Because of this emphasis on nurture, genes and genetics do not play as much of a role as the
experiences one receives after being born. The genes that one is born with gives the individual the
genetic constitution that is capable of responding to external stimuli. If one has inherited genes that
code for a more aggressive response to external stimuli, then that person may have a greater ability to
be aggressive

Analysis Of Robert Frost s Poem And The Thawing Wind
In Robert Frost s poem To the Thawing Wind, in the literal sense, he is asking the Southwest wind to
come, melt the snow and bring spring, but symbolically he is tired of the winter and wants warm
weather. He wants to burst out of his cabin and have a good time, not thinking about poetry. The poet
has been confined in his winter cabin and is wanting the wind and rain to melt the snow, so it will
change his winter isolation. He has been longing for the thawing wind because that is when spring is
coming. He is anticipating spring to come because it will bring him inspiration and the freedom
needed to be able to do new things and enjoy everything good that comes with this season. In the
literal sense, Frost speaks to the seasons and describes his distaste for the weather; however,
figuratively he desires to go outside to be a part of the process of spring and feel alive again. In the
first line of Frost s poem, he is ordering the wind to Come with rain, O loud Southwester! Speaking
literally, he is telling the southwest wind to come with rain so it can melt the snow and bring spring.
His use of the word loud means he is asking for the wind to come and wake up his household.
Figuratively, he is wanting spring to come because it will give him the chance to be outside and enjoy
nature. In the next line, he mentions birds when he asks for the wind to Bring the singer, bring the
nester. During spring, birds come and make their nests and sing because of the warmer

Jonah John Piper Essay
In The Education of a Prophet: Jonah John Piper discusses the idea of Christians that have strong
racist views. He starts his sermon by talking about his hometown church and its racist members, then
he compares these people to members of the Ku Klux Klan, and last of all he discussed the
nationalistic views Jonah had. Piper had found the idea of Christians harboring racist views troubling
and made several arguments on why Christians cannot be racist. According to John Piper, church
members of his mother s church are racists because they voted against blacks from attending their
congregation; however the members are Christians and yet they harbor such racist views. Then Piper
claims that this racism is contrary to the spirit of Jesus Christ who told us to love our enemies and to
do good to those who hate us (Luke 6:27, 28). This had baffled Piper, how could these Christians
possess such racist views? I think Piper cleared this issue up when brought up the story of The Good
Samaritan . Even though the two races despise each other the Samaritan still had the heart to take care
of the stranded man. Piper had also recalled being at a party for you church couples and man had
bragged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He Piper then tells us race is irrelevant if you are a follower of Jesus and if you follow Jesus you must
desire the good for everyone, no matter what race or nationality. Piper then continues to talk about the
KKK s nationalistic views and says Suppose you are a German and have a superior theoretical
intelligence. Suppose you are Japanese and have superior marketing skill. Suppose you are an
American and have superior technological prowess. It doesn t matter! It is irrelevant in the way you
treat people. Finally Piper tells us nationality cannot determine how we treat people if we are a
follower of

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge
Bridge:
Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local area networks that
use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in accordance with the IEEE 802.3
standards. As the devices connected to the bridge use the same protocols, the amount of processing
required is minimal. Nowadays, routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are
Layer 2 devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers better Data
Security.
Routers:
Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a destination network. The
router reads the header created by the Network Layer of the protocol stack on the source computer.
The router can be configured to filter by protocol, source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Switch:
According to (Burke, 2004),A switch is a multiport bridge. When a switch receives a frame (A data
packet with address and other protocol information embedded), it amplifies the signal, looks at the
MAC address to determine which port should retransmit the frame to get it to the intended network
device and sends it to that port. The switch can be configured to disconnect any attached device, to
discard frames intended for an attached device, to send frames with a specific hardware address to
another hardware address instead and to copy a frame to a mirror port which can send it to an attached
traffic monitor.
Network Interface Card:
Every Computer that connects to a network must have a Network Interface Card (NIC). Most new
Computers have them built into the motherboard. It has one or sometimes more RJ45 socket(s) that
connect to a modem. The older and deprecated version used to have RJ11 sockets to connect to the
network. Due to it being extremely vulnerable to phreaking and war dialing, it has now been replaced

No Name 03/10/2012 WRTG 393 Part I: Technical Description Jailbreaking an Iphone An Apple
iPhone is a popular multimedia, internet based smartphone sold and marketed by Apple, Inc. An
iPhone can function as a video camera (video recording was not a standard feature until the iPhone
3GS was released), a camera phone, a portable media player, and an Internet client with email and
web browsing capabilities, can send texts and receive visual voicemail, and has both Wi Fi and 3G
connectivity. The user interface is built around the device s multi touch screen, including a virtual
keyboard rather than a physical one. Third party as well as Apple applications software is run on the
iPhone to increase the functionality. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You ll also need to know what version of firmware is installed on your phone. Third party applications
can then be browsed, downloaded and installed with software such as Cydia, which is conveniently
included in jailbreaking tools. Part II: Instructions How to jailbreak an iPhone and install third party
applications. Jailbreaking a iphone can be a relatively simple task to do. There are two types of
jailbreak you can perform on your iPhone, and they are a tethered jailbreak and an untethered
jailbreak. 1) Tethered jailbreak: This method is not recommended, as it requires you to jailbreak your
iPhone by connecting it to your computer every time you switch off your phone or if the battery dies.
Usually, this method is only performed when a new software update for the iPhone is released and an
untethered jailbreak method is unavailable. 2) Untethered jailbreak: This method involves connecting
your iPhone to your computer once and jailbreaking it. After doing this, your phone remains
jailbroken even after it switches off and you switch it back on again. In other words, the jailbreaking
process is permanently done on your iPhone without needing to be done again if you reboot your
phone. Of course if you wish to un jailbreak your iPhone, it s still possible by resetting via iTunes. So
naturally this is the preferred

Characters In Finding Dory
In this paper I am going to tell you about the movie Finding Dory and analyze three approaches for the
characters. Finding Dory takes place in the ocean, because fish are the main characters. If you´ve ever
seen Finding Nemo then you know who Marlin and Nemo are, if you haven t seen it, they are clown
fish. At the beginning of the movie you see that Dory lives with Nemo and Marlin. Dory has a hard
time remembering things, so basically anything you tell her she will forget. One morning Dory wakes
up and remembers she has parents, but she can only remember little things about them. Dory, Marlin,
and Nemo head out across the ocean to find Dory´s long lost parents. The first character I am going to
analyze is Dory because she is the easiest. You

Workmanship Warranty
What Does The Workmanship Warranty Mean? Replacing your roof is an expensive venture. Several
parties are involved in roof replacement: manufacturers, roofing contractors and dumpsters, among
others. The different parties offer warranties. Do you understand what that means? Let us focus on the
workmanship warranty. The workmanship warranty backs up your roofing contractor s work. This
warranty, together with the manufacturer s warranty, provides your roof with coverage if improper
installation causes any damage or defects. The workmanship warranty is a standard industry practice,
although that was not always the case. Caveats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experience, therefore, becomes a crucial factor when choosing roofing companies. The warranty is
only valid for as long as the contractor who issued it retains sole control over their service roof repair,
replacement, or installation. The roofing contractor that you choose to install a new roof on your
property should be competent and reputable. He should be able to complete the work in a professional
and timely manner. If you, the homeowner, and the roofing contractor had agreed on details like
installation, timelines, and had them written down, it is possible to predict the outcome in the event of
a dispute. You need to have all the details concerning the services to be performed by the contractor
and what you expect written down in a clear, precise way. Do not leave room for assumptions and

My Passion For Reading And Writing Course Analysis
Ever since I was a little first grader, I loved going to the library. I adored walking down an aisle
towering with books of used spines that smelled like old paper and adventure. My excitement for
reading and writing has not decreased. I always put time aside for reading books and writing in my
journal.
I want to take English III AP to further my passion for reading and writing. I want to learn more about
different types of literature. I also hope to become a stronger writer so that I can express my ideas
through writing very thoroughly and convincingly. After taking this course I hope to have an easier

Essay On LAA Testing Due to increasing competition in the field of medical testing it has become prudent for Laboratorio De Analisis Argentina (LAA) to evaluate its process and identify strengths and weaknesses to improve the operations of their laboratories. An in depth investigation into day to day, step by step breakdown of activities has uncovered where, and how LAA can achieve efficient operations. From the original collection of samples to the final step of communicating the test results to the patients, LAA has shown that they have created a process with numerous factors to success as well as room for improvement. If the company is adamant at meeting the 5,000 sample a day mark and removing demand variability it may be worthwhile to look into holding off on samples arriving later in the day as to have immediate work for testers and the latter steps at the beginning of the next day. Samples from the second 8 hour shift of a certain day that are processed during the first 8 hour shift of the following day will still meet the objective of communicating results within the 24 hour limit. This technique could also potentially decrease standard deviation as it tries to evenly control the sample flow and demand variability in the daily process. Routine delivery times for satellite and external labs could also lead to more consistency within the process. • 3. A Comparison of Three Advertisements Essay A Comparison of Three Advertisements The word Media is a term for information or messages conveyed by diferent channels (means) to an audience. Examples of media types are music, news, radio etc. A symbol is a picture of something eg: a cross. A denotation is what you actuallly see. A connotation however is the hidden meaning or sub text of a symbol. The anchor ties the picture down, comfirms the message or adds to the idea of something. A stereotype suggests a typical image of people that the audience recognises. Soft focus might imply romance, olden days and femininity. I will be analysing three adverts. ... This time the background is blurred and the car is in focus. The jeep is head on to the camera and this suggests power, strenght and confidence. The jeep looks like it is going fast through the water because of the water splashing everywhere and the detailed droplets in the air. Adverts lay things out well. They use specail techniques to catch our eye and to make us read the adverts. On the first advert they use the effect of 3 new cars on a white background. There is a box under each of the cars with the price and the model of the car. That is the bottom 40%. The are parked, facing the camera head on. • 4. Inaccuracy In Genetic Testing Although researchers and scientists always aim to develop further beneficial advancements, some of them might be as harmful and still controversial as they are supposed to be beneficial. Genetic technologies are advancing at a very high rate. For example, genetic testing is widely available nowadays. It is a test that identifies whether an individual is carrying the gene for a specific disease or disorder. Through genetic testing, parents can be provided with genetic information about the health of the fetus by simply taking a blood sample and testing it. However, implications arise as genetic technology is not very accurate. Although a positive result indicates a higher possibility of carrying the disease or disorder and a negative result indicates a lower possibility, there is always that other possibility of a false result (Women s Health Care Physicians). Inaccuracy in genetic testing causes a controversial question on whether individuals should risk the choices by trusting and basing their life on nothing but expected results. Even more concern is caused due to rejections of going through genetic testing and consequently, a possibility of giving birth to a defected baby and not taking benefit of the technology. Many agree that not taking a genetic test avoids a lot of the emotional issues and stress that could arise with the results. Others believe that this technology should play a major part of everyone s life as it allows individuals to be more aware of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Senior English Honors required a total of three written papers, one of them over the summer, and the writing focus was on the CSQT. A simple formula for a paragraph that a monkey could handle, its meaning is Claim, Set up, Quote, and Tie in. If you had an opening and closing paragraph and three CSQT s in a paper at Newark High School, you were a genius. Joseph Harris, the writer of the textbook Rewriting: How to do Things with Text, implores his readers to think of the act of writing as re writing. Taking information, thoughts, ideas, concepts from writers and utilize them with new concepts to create a fresh and more tailored piece from the new writer s perspective, essentially using old to create new, the theory of conservation of mass applied to writing. This process of taking others work and utilizing it for rewriting, is very different than what Newark High School had in mind, for the concept of the CSQT left little room for creativity. The focus was on making a claim, and using quotations to point out why that stance was the best choice. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are tons more articles espousing the benefits of high intensity weight training for these same goals as well as increased bone density. Literally, there are tons. I ve printed them out and weighed them all. Luckily for you, I also read all of those articles I found and I ve come to the conclusion that they re onto something. H.I.I.T. is much better for most individuals overall health and fitness than long endurance type cardio sessions. Weight training builds bones, just like milk was supposed to. Both forms of exercise affect the hormonal system positively, eliciting a post exercise response that uses a substantial amount of energy from optimal sources throughout the day. Advisors help recruit students into the sciences via STEM class visits at the beginning of each semester and through holistic advising, including coaching in academic, career and professional development. SCSE staff focus on providing workshops aimed at increasing student professional development, including the importance of networking, a tool that many minority students are unfamiliar with (Stolle McAllister, 2011). Additionally, relationships between advisors and faculty have enabled a multi layered approach in intervention with struggling students. The collaborative nature of relationships between instructors and advisors has also created a network in which students can learn of opportunities in STEM, such as undergraduate research opportunities that advance their professional development. SCSE advisors also provide assistance with resume building and writing statements of purpose, and provide guidance throughout the application process for graduate education. Some will go similarly as saying that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses this issue by expressing: A man who was merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. • 16. Reflection On Decision Making Process Out of the topics covered in this course, the decision making process was the most important for me. During this lecture, I found myself agreeing with a lot of the material covered and also learned some new things about myself. The decision making process enables us to evaluate a situation, process the information given, and determine a course of action to take. Whether if it s in the workplace, school, or in our personal life, we will face all kinds of choices each day. Every decision we make will have an effect on the outcome of our future. In my own personal life, I go through simple decisions like determining what to wear, which route to take to school, and what to eat that day. Most of my daily decisions are made instantaneously but in some cases, like group projects, I have to put more effort into my thinking process. In class, I learned that from a managerial point of view, they make more important decisions such as hiring or firing someone, deciding who will be in charge of a project, and deciding if they should launch a new product line. In general, having good decision making skills is a benefit because then others will also have trust in our abilities. When we make decisions, it is common for us to make our judgements based on information that is more available in our memory. This is called availability bias and it is something that I always fall victim to. For example, I always thought that airplane crashes happen quite frequently, which is why I have a fear of ... The aim of this research is to develop a set of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of water related climate change adaptation interventions at the local community level in Thai Binh province. This will help authorities at high levels, NGO officers, local residents and other beneficiaries as they can evaluate the effectiveness of water related interventions. The robust indicators will help to adjust the adaptation targets for given times, to ensure the accountability to stakeholders, to provide evidence for the effects of intervention, to motivate all partners, to fundraise, and to reveal the shortcomings in the implementation of water related adaptation interventions {Hobson, 2014 #328}. This research will apply the sustainable livelihood framework and the local community participation to develop the indicators. The sustainable livelihood framework approach will consider comprehensively and scientifically the livelihood components of local residents. The authorities at the higher levels, therefore, can more easily listen to and understand the local voices and have much more respect and corporation with the local residents. Approximately 150,000 babies born in the United States every year are affected by birth defects, at least 25 percent of those birth defects are environmentally caused (Birth Defects Statistics). Not only do birth defects affect thousands of babies, other developmental problems such as low birth weight and preterm labor also have an effect on a staggering number of children. Some developmental problems and birth defects are unavoidable, but environmentally caused issues can and should be prevented. Factors that are considered to be environmental include smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol, using illegal drugs, taking prescription medications, having infectious diseases or sexually transmitted diseases, and having poor nutrition. Environmental factors can cause birth defects and developmental complications, but due to the limited amount of treatments, making appropriate nutrition and lifestyle decisions during pregnancy can prevent these detrimental issues. Birth defects and developmental complications can be caused by non environmental factors, or environmental factors. Genetics and heredity are known causes of birth defects that are not environmental factors. The diversionary planes dropped off chaff, dummies and noisemakers at areas away from the actual Drop Zones. The main wave went around the Cotentin peninsula and entered the German airspace over the west Cotentin coast. They flew in the northwest direction over the Drop Zones, and exited through Utah Beach. The paratrooper s experience at Italy taught high command that in order for the paratroopers to be effective, they needed to be dropped in tight formations. The pilots of the troop carrier aircrafts received extensive training, and flew the majority of the flight in tight V of V formations. The lack of advanced flight instruments created navigation problems for the pilots. The Eureka Rebecca beacons were only effective in giving an approximation of the locations of the Drop Zones, therefore pilots needed to visually identify the Aldis Lamps in the darkness. Some pilots found nothing the pathfinders did not have enough time to set up the drop zones, or that German troops were nearby and had to rely on landmarks such as railroads and towns to make a reasonable guess of their Drop Zones. This created a great amount of confusion, and as a result the majority of the parachute drops were badly scattered. Fischer Esterification Fischer Esterification of (1,3 Dimethylbutyl) Acetate from 4 Methyl 2 Pentanol Alison Evans Anne Richards TA: Dylan Kahl Tuesday 11:30am 2:20pm 81807 Abstract: An ester was synthesized during an organic reaction and identified by IR spectroscopy and boiling point. Acetic acid was added to 4 methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This produced the desired ester and water. After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was calculated from the 0.872 g of ester recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to product getting stuck in the apparatus. The boiling point of the ester was 143° C, only one degree off from the theoretical boiling point of the ester 1,3 dimethylbutyl, 144 ° C. The values of the ... A final means of drying the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the product can be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point determination. A general idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have specific smells and if the scent can be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created. IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds of the functional groups. The ester can be considered pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it would mean the ester is not completely pure. Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity and how pure the final product is. Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature value allows for determination of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the experimental value is within the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure. Leafy vegetables which appear to be the only practical source of dietary carotenes are not generally consumed by the poor rural families (Devadas, 1983). In India reports concluded that 62% of preschool children were reported to be deficient in vitamin A. These dramatic results suggest high mortality rate, leading to an annual 330,000 child deaths (Mitra AK, 1998). To conclude this, the above statistics are suggest that poverty is the sole contributor to almost 50% of the Vitamin A deficiency among the population of India. However, poverty is not only the cause for the deficiency. Other factors like culture and consumption pattern of food play a key role in affecting the deficiency of Vitamin A. Examining the general food pattern of families is a necessary first step in order to understand food patterns of vulnerable individuals. In India, the majority of families eat three meals a day and the first meal of the day often consists of the leftovers from the previous night. Abstract (Kaley Barnes and Isabelle Cunis): Using an electric motor, an experiment was performed to test the efficiency of the motor when the mass being lifted was increased in increments of ten grams. As the mass increased by each increment of ten grams, the motor efficiency decreased by an average of 7.439%. Our results were found by using the equation: efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used Therefore, this inverse relationship proved mass affects the efficiency of electric motors. Introduction ( Jackson Cates and Aidan Rogers): The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different masses hoisted by an electric motor from ground level to a height of 1.29 m. The main purpose was to look how a change in mass affected the efficiency of our motor, but it did affect other variables such as power, current, force, etc. For this experiment, our hypnosis is that as mass increases, the efficiency increases. Because in the equation for efficiency, efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used, gain in potential difference = mgh, the mass of an object has a direct relationship with the efficiency of the motor. In this equation, we see that efficiency is affected by the mass that is lifted, gravity, the height the mass is being lifted, and the amount of energy that is put into the system. We can see that mass, gravity, and height has a direct relationship while inputted power has an inverse relationship with efficiency. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By Summers definition it can be concluded that, as the majority of people build the culture of a society and media affects how and what people think, mass media is creating a culture obsessed with youth. Americans have a fascination with youth and are reluctant to accept aging gracefully. The obsession of youth is not an American phenomena. Countries and societies in the modern world and throughout history have been interested in discovering methods of reversing the biological clock through means of beauty products and practices so that individuals may appear younger, and thereby, more beautiful. World wide, making changes to one s appearance to reverse, halt, or prolong the human lifespan has been embodied by myths as early as 3,000 B.C.E. and perhaps earlier (Binstock). Further, actual records of such practices have been traced back to 2,500 B.C.E.(Binstock). By analyzing this research, it can be concluded that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Skinner s Behavioral Approach On Analyzing Myself Behaviorism and Attachment For this paper I am going to focus on B. F. Skinner s Behavioral Approach on analyzing myself. Behaviorism emerged in the early years of the twentieth century as a counterbalance to the psychoanalytic approaches of therapy and psychology. Skinner was born in 1904, just nine years after Freud published Studies on Hysteria. Both of these opposing theories, psychoanalysis and behaviorism, have greatly influenced the way we think of the human mind. I lean more towards the behaviorists approach because what I have read about Skinner has resonated with me. I will use behaviorism to approach my own inner introspection and hopefully come away from this more enlightened about myself. The classic nature verse nurture debate has been rocking the boat in psychology since Socrates time. Skinner and behaviorists tend to lean much more towards the nurture side of this debate, believing that an individual s behavior is a direct consequence of what that individual has experienced in the past, especially within the context of reinforcement and punishment. Because of this emphasis on nurture, genes and genetics do not play as much of a role as the experiences one receives after being born. The genes that one is born with gives the individual the genetic constitution that is capable of responding to external stimuli. If one has inherited genes that code for a more aggressive response to external stimuli, then that person may have a greater ability to be aggressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Analysis Of Robert Frost s Poem And The Thawing Wind In Robert Frost s poem To the Thawing Wind, in the literal sense, he is asking the Southwest wind to come, melt the snow and bring spring, but symbolically he is tired of the winter and wants warm weather. He wants to burst out of his cabin and have a good time, not thinking about poetry. The poet has been confined in his winter cabin and is wanting the wind and rain to melt the snow, so it will change his winter isolation. He has been longing for the thawing wind because that is when spring is coming. He is anticipating spring to come because it will bring him inspiration and the freedom needed to be able to do new things and enjoy everything good that comes with this season. In the literal sense, Frost speaks to the seasons and describes his distaste for the weather; however, figuratively he desires to go outside to be a part of the process of spring and feel alive again. In the first line of Frost s poem, he is ordering the wind to Come with rain, O loud Southwester! Speaking literally, he is telling the southwest wind to come with rain so it can melt the snow and bring spring. His use of the word loud means he is asking for the wind to come and wake up his household. Figuratively, he is wanting spring to come because it will give him the chance to be outside and enjoy nature. In the next line, he mentions birds when he asks for the wind to Bring the singer, bring the nester. During spring, birds come and make their nests and sing because of the warmer ... • 44. Jonah John Piper Essay In The Education of a Prophet: Jonah John Piper discusses the idea of Christians that have strong racist views. He starts his sermon by talking about his hometown church and its racist members, then he compares these people to members of the Ku Klux Klan, and last of all he discussed the nationalistic views Jonah had. Piper had found the idea of Christians harboring racist views troubling and made several arguments on why Christians cannot be racist. According to John Piper, church members of his mother s church are racists because they voted against blacks from attending their congregation; however the members are Christians and yet they harbor such racist views. Then Piper claims that this racism is contrary to the spirit of Jesus Christ who told us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us (Luke 6:27, 28). This had baffled Piper, how could these Christians possess such racist views? I think Piper cleared this issue up when brought up the story of The Good Samaritan . Even though the two races despise each other the Samaritan still had the heart to take care of the stranded man. Piper had also recalled being at a party for you church couples and man had bragged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suppose you are Japanese and have superior marketing skill. Suppose you are an American and have superior technological prowess. It doesn t matter! It is irrelevant in the way you treat people. • 45. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge Bridge: Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local area networks that use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in accordance with the IEEE 802.3 standards. As the devices connected to the bridge use the same protocols, the amount of processing required is minimal. Nowadays, routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are Layer 2 devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers better Data Security. Routers: Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a destination network. The router reads the header created by the Network Layer of the protocol stack on the source computer. The router can be configured to filter by protocol, source ... When a switch receives a frame (A data packet with address and other protocol information embedded), it amplifies the signal, looks at the MAC address to determine which port should retransmit the frame to get it to the intended network device and sends it to that port. The switch can be configured to disconnect any attached device, to discard frames intended for an attached device, to send frames with a specific hardware address to another hardware address instead and to copy a frame to a mirror port which can send it to an attached traffic monitor. There are two types of jailbreak you can perform on your iPhone, and they are a tethered jailbreak and an untethered jailbreak. 1) Tethered jailbreak: This method is not recommended, as it requires you to jailbreak your iPhone by connecting it to your computer every time you switch off your phone or if the battery dies. Usually, this method is only performed when a new software update for the iPhone is released and an untethered jailbreak method is unavailable. 2) Untethered jailbreak: This method involves connecting your iPhone to your computer once and jailbreaking it. After doing this, your phone remains jailbroken even after it switches off and you switch it back on again. In other words, the jailbreaking process is permanently done on your iPhone without needing to be done again if you reboot your phone. Of course if you wish to un jailbreak your iPhone, it s still possible by resetting via iTunes. So naturally this is the preferred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
