2. Analysis Of The Poem The American Dream
The American dream to me is a secure way of life for the future. Having a steady job, no struggles and
financial securities. Living life to the absolute fullest while being successful by doing what you love.
So my idea is supported by connecting to Sam Walton and Jay Z profiles/interviews. The interview
says no matter how hard you had it growing up, you can still conquer anything if you work hard
enough and put your mind to it. This is the same as the visual image of the homeless person in the
trunk this, tells the reader you can come from nothing and build and work towards your dreams and
goals.
My thesis is Jay Z and Sam Walton has different views on what the American Dream is. Although both
men had different backgrounds, they both become very successful entrepreneurs. The rhetorical
strategy I used to argue my point is comparing and contrasting. My first line of argument, a successful
person is someone who is an independent, leader, optimistic, goal driven, passionate patient person. A
successful person is a hard worker who is not afraid to try new things.
Therefore, what does it mean to be successful, I believe having strong communication, strong work
ethic, having will power and self reliance, integrity, faith and never giving up? For example, the
president, mom, and dad. Evidence that I have to back this up is the article in American Dream: Dead
or on Hold by Brandon King he states the American dream is that dream of a land in which life should

3. Essay On Triple Jump
From creating a performance profiling sheet for the triple jump I have found out what my two key
qualities that are strengths and three key qualities that are areas for improvement in the triple jump.
Performance profile
My two strengths are my rhythm and avoid wasting my energy; it is important that everyone has a
good rhythm when performing the triple jump this is because as the triple jump consists of 3 phases
you will need a good rhythm so you are most likely not to mess it up meaning your score will not be
cancelled. And as you have a good rhythm going you will gain momentum and power, increasing your
jump resulting in a higher score. The reason why... How I could maintain this strength is by practicing
only the 3 phases on a regular basis. From the performance profiling sheet my discrepancy value for
rhythm was 9.
My second strength was using my energy efficiently and effectively. This is important key quality to

Power is one of the most important key qualities to have when performing the jump phase in triple
jump; this is because power is required for an effective long jump take off, resulting in you jumping
further giving you a high score, which other competitors may struggle to beat. To improve my power
in the triple jump I will perform exercises such as squat leaps, this is because it will develop power in
my lower body meaning that my vertical jump will be higher allowing me to get a higher score in the
triple jump. I will perform this exercise with 5 reps and 10 sets. I will also perform interval sprinting
which involves high intensity short distance sprinting for 10 15 seconds which will improve my
power, this is because it will increase power in my leg resulting in also increasing my vertical jump. I
will also do these 3 times a week with 30 seconds rest i will rinse and repeat this 5

For this reflection of advanced perioperative practice I will be using a case study approach, I will also
be using the Gibbs reflective cycle. (1988). Gibbs reflective cycle (1988) is a model of reflection that I

break the scenario that I have chose to reflect on into manageable sections. This model includes 6

Weathering is the when rocks break down physically or chemically into smaller particles called
sediments. Physical weathering is the breakdown of rocks and minerals without changing the chemical

rocks into smaller pieces by changing the chemical composition of the sediments. Examples of
chemical weathering include oxidation, hydration, carbonic acid reacting with calcite to form caves,

The acidic ground water was necessary due to the fact that pure water could not dissolve the limestone
and marble. The acidic ground water absorbed some carbon dioxide from the air and the decaying
vegetation located in the soil and formulated carbonic acid. The carbonic acid was able to dissolve out
cavities (3) in the bedrock and when the level of the water dropped, the passageways were ready for
the next step of the development of caves. There is water that seeps into the cave at a slower rate. The
acid is weak but it is able to dissolve the bedrock above the cave and is able to redeposit the minerals,

8. Why Is Christopher Columbus Considered A Foreign Explorer
In the year of 1451 a protégé was born. His name was Christopher Columbus and he was born in
Genoa, Italy. In his adulthood, he was known all over the world as the best explorer and navigator. He
had numerous discoveries in his lifetime and was fancied by many rulers who sought what he sought.
However, he had very high demands on what he would receive if sponsored, so many foreign rulers
rejected him and his demands. He was a Catholic and this stood out to Queen Isabella because she
wanted to spread Catholicism to non believers. This gave Columbus a better standing with the queen.
In Spain, a new federal power was beginning to drive the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsula and this
would increase the availability of resources to the monarchs on this land. This involved the king and it
pushed him towards sponsoring Columbus because he was so familiar with the land. They soon agreed
with all of Columbus claims and sponsored his voyage in search of a water route from Europe to the
East Indies. Columbus was foreign to the country of Spain, so this leaves people to wonder why would
Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand sponsor a foreign explorer for such an important voyage? Since
Columbus was not from Spain he was considered a foreign explorer. A monarch from another country
would only want a foreign explorer if they had expertise in their field of voyaging. The explorers
would most likely be chosen if they shared common interests with the monarch, because they would
help benefit

9. Rhetor s Argument Analysis
Although convincing the audience that the rhetor is intelligent does not mean that they can be fully
trusted. An essential part of establishing ethos is assessing the rhetor s ethical appeal. This approach
appeals to the audience s ethical judgment, this can be in the form of a passionate delivery or even a
simple claim that matter is unjust (Jasinski, 2001). The rhetor fails to provide any limitations or
alternative evidence to the example studies given. There was a lack of mutual ground for both sides of
the argument, even though this was an advantage in persuading, the improper approach caused
questionable trust in the rhetor s work. Additionally, the rhetor establishes credibility by the

Identification of present elements involves identifying the basic observable features of the artifact.
These can be embedded in the artifacts major arguments, types of evidence, images, particular terms,

to ideological tenets. Then they recognize the suggested elements linked to the presented elements.
The analyst then articulates ideas, themes, concepts, or references that are suggested by the presented
elements. This is where the meanings of the ideological tenets are identified. Within the artifact there
were several presented elements rooted in the major argument. The first element presented was time.
The suggesting element related to this presented element is that individuals only seem to appreciate
this fact in retrospect; only when we look backwards do we realize how much change happens in a

The current presidential election has wrought a quagmire of unthinkable actions by politicians in plain

speaker of the house, Paul Ryan. This essay will detail the estranged relationship between Paul Ryan

First, in pairing Paul Ryan with Donald Trump, the current House Speaker could easily be described
as, capable of contributing to the leadership process, but [also] disgruntled and cynical (McManus and

party loyalty, especially with 2016 being such a divisive election year, nonetheless his failure to fall on
his sword for Trump displays a form of cynicism and alienation from the GOP nominee. Within this
instance of leadership, Ryan easily is characterized as an alienated follower. Next, in the context of

17. The United States And The Constitution
In any society, the first thing that must be determined is from where the power to govern comes. No
matter what form government takes, one thing remains constant; no person or group can govern
without the will and consent of the people. This goes for despotic mad men and duly elected officers
of a free electorate. If those who rule must command the will of those they lead, it must then follow
that all executive power flows not from nobility, birthright, or wealth, but from the people themselves.
It is this very principle, that any government was given authority and legitimacy from its subjects, that
the United States government is based on, namely the Constitution. Taking their cue from the federal
government, the states Nevada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drawing on the British parliament, Greek democracy, Roman republic, and even the Native American
confederations, The Constitution of the United States was completed on September 17, 1787 and
ratified seven months later. The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the shortest written
Constitution of any major government in the world; However, if this is the document that all law in
America is based then why is it so short? Because those founding fathers that had opposed centralized
government wanted to have a document that expressly explained the duties, powers, and
responsibilities of the new government. This truly was written as a rulebook for the government
naming each and every rule that the people of the former colonies wanted the central government to
abide by. Since the people wished this central government to have little power, the document is
understandably short. In fact, the length of this document has only increased when it has been
necessary to further curtail government s power and increase civil liberties, prohibition being the only
exception; however with its repeal this can be considered a wash. In juxtaposition, the Nevada State
Constitution is 16,543 words long; almost four times as long as the U.S. Constitution. At first, many
may find that the only explanation for the increased length is pretentious verbosity; however there are
numerous reasons for this increased length and most have to do with

Lawrence is an advisor and close friend to Romeo. This is apparent when Romeo addresses the Friar
as father and Friar Lawrence addresses Romeo as his son. Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence for help and

Friar Lawrence s egotistical attitude seems to have caused more grief than comfort. By suggesting that
Juliet drinks the potion, he shows a more selfish side to his personality. I believe that the Friars
intensions are still good at this point, however he could be trying to save himself from the situation as
he may have doubts about the upcoming events, showing that there is a very unforgiving side to him.
Friar Lawrence has to be devious in order to carry out the new idealistic plan. As a priest, he should
not lie in any situation. Friar Lawrence asks come, is the Bride ready to go to church? to the Capulet
family. He already knew full well that the wedding was not going to go ahead, however by saying this
to the family, he is pretending that he knows nothing and gets prepared to bury Juliet. This shows how
deceptive the Friar can be as he remains very composed throughout the day, which only reinforces his
superiority and confidence amongst the community. As Juliet awakes from her planned long sleep, she

would have been very worried about his actions and he tries to cover up the lies to fix what happened.

22. Comparing Two Kinds And The Namesake
United States is a country with a big cultural diversity. Persons from all the countries, especially from
the least developed ones, start a new life in this country with the only purpose of reach the American
Dream. A better economic position, life style and educational opportunities for their family, are some
of the facts that immigrates are looking for in America. All these privileges are not enough for them to
forget their background. The reading Two Kinds by Amy Tan, and the movie The Namesake by Dir.
Mira Nair, show two different stories about how the new family in America struggle with the parent s
culture and what American culture is. Immigrants, such as me, have to face many life changes when
arriving for first time to America, such as different beliefs and ideologies, different language and new
economic opportunities Every culture has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shahid Khan comments his own experience in an interview with Serena Solomon: I can t conduct a

with. This is exactly what happened to me when I came to United States. I was looking for a job and I
needed to speak with the manager of a store. In Spain people learn English, however, most of them

23. The Roman Empires By Chris Dunn
The Roman Empires
By Chris Dunn
There have been 147 Roman Emperors including 7 ruling the Gallic empire and 2 leading the British.
After 395 A.D. the western empire had 23 emperors and the eastern empire from had 94 (List of
Roman Emperors.). There have been a lot of emperors of Rome each one with their strengths and
weaknesses and some better then others. A few will be remembered forever and others lost in
obscurity. Some of the most famous are, Augustus better known as Octavian who was the first
emperor of Rome,. Marius who reorganized the arm, and created the most effective fighting force on
the plaint. Julius Caesar who conquered the Gauls and took over Rome as a dictator. Nero the madman

Antony tried to form his own senate and was planning to create a eastern empire with Cleopatra.
Octavian would not have this happen and declared war. Italy and the western provinces joined Rome
and in 31 B.C. Antony and Cleopatra were defeated in a naval battle but fled back to Egypt. Octavian
in 30 B.C. engaged Antony again in Egypt from land and sea and defeated his army. Both Antony and
Cleopatra committed suicide. With Egypt now under his control and all the lands he went throw
pledging loyalty to him Octavian was now the solo ruler of the entire Roman world.
Marius came from humble beginnings and was a military man before marrying Julia, making him the
uncle of Julius Caesar. He was not fond of protocol and had himself appointed the commander of all
African forces. Looking for soldiers he allowed the Roman poor to become soldiers. This was not the
practice of the day but unintentionally set in motion a radical change in the Roman military. He then
made quick work of the enemy in Africa with his new professionally trained army using new methods
introduced by Marius himself. However the northern border of Rome was failing and Rome looked to
Marius to save them. He did this with only two battles and saved Rome from the northern invaders.
With the northern threat gone he then created laws to give the veteran soldiers land after there time of
service was done. He also allowed Italian to be granted

24. Realism And The Victorian Era
So what does one do when said individuals that are of different blood and social statuses fall in love?
The Victorian Era was a time where your social status could be construed as directly correlating to
whom said individual could socialize with, marry, or have any ties too. Perhaps maybe there weren t
three individuals that knew this more than the three of Wuthering Heights Edgar Linton, Catherine
Earnshaw, and Heathcliff. The Victorian Era had many elements that could be tied to it but the one
that will be the center focus for this paper will be realism. Realism emphasized the middle class and
rejected the heroic in favor of the ordinary, focusing on common people and common situations. In
realism the middle class was simply feed up with social statuses and not having a voice in society.
Another group of people that simply were feed up with the norms of society was that of women.
Realism not only focused on the common class as a whole but on the empowerment of women and
letting these ladies voices be heard whether it was through writings such as Wuthering Heights.
Nevertheless, the Victorian Era was a time in which many would considered was the ultimate turning
point for two different group of people as a whole the commoners as well as the women of this era.
Edgar Linton was a young man of noble blood that makes the love between Catherine Earnshaw and
Heathcliff very complicated. From the story of Wuthering Heights Linton definitely would be the ideal
guy for Catherine

25. Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama
Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both
very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the
renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process
based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had
an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as
religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures
of Greek theatre and medieval drama will be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely
tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the
ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the
Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals:
the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to
compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of
approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society;
religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly
encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not afford to attend the

Despair and Loneliness in A Clean, Well Lighted Place In the short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place
by Ernest Hemingway, two waiters in a café observe an old deaf man, and discuss how he attempted
to commit suicide and failed. As the night goes on and the old man gets drunk, the two waiters debate
on the topic of life and despair. The young waiter has both a wife and a job, so he is always eager to
get home before three in the morning because he is doing a lot with his life. He even admits that he
thinks that the old man should have killed himself so that the young waiter wouldn t always have to
leave the café so late. The old waiter on the other hand, only has a job so he sympathizes with the old
man because the café is the only thing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks that religion does not help feeling depressed or lonely and both of these things you must
face alone. All he needs is the café and to be able to provide this safe haven for other people who feel
like him. When he is finished closing up the café, he returns home and thinks about how he doesn t
like bars and bodegas and prefers the clean well lighted café because it was a very different thing (7).
He knows he will go into his room and be up all night thinking until the sun would come up. Then, he
would sleep. Hemingway writes, After all, he said to himself, it s probably only insomnia. Many must
have it (7). The ending of this story shows that the old waiter is in fact full of despair and loneliness.
He tries to convince himself that it s only insomnia and tries to feel less alone by saying that many
must have it. Even though he acknowledges that he and the old man are extremely similar, it appears
that the old waiter is not yet ready to admit that at the end of his life, he is feeling horrible and he does
not know how to bring himself out of it. All he knows is the café since that s where he seems

Being at a military academy our dorm rooms are supposed to be uniform and sparkling clean. My

molds the room into my own. First off, the thing I remember most about my room is the cleanliness
and purity of the room, but yet it still somehow manages to have that appearance of being worn and
exhausted. The smell of Lysol smacks me right in the face along with the hint of mustiness in the air.
In addition to the smell I hear the slight hum of the air conditioner running nonstop, which leads the
room to feel as if I am in the freezer section at Walmart. The next element of the room I notice is the

Second Paper #4 (Democracy)
A Proposition To Abolish Democracy
In the modern west, democracy is generally conceived as the most free regime. Democracy is uniquely
characterized by majority rule. This gives its citizens the privilege to vote, overturn, and motion, with
the purpose of best representing the desires of the population. Not only do societies strive for
democracy to gain political freedom, but also personal freedom. Traditionally, we equate government
intervention and regulation with harsh restrictions that devitalize our personal freedom, however,
according to Socrates; regulation is necessary in order to experience genuine freedom . In the
Republic, Socrates discusses his tripartite regime in which promotes optimal justice and happiness for
its citizens. However, if we fully accept Socrates republic, this does not necessarily mean we have to
reject democracy entirely. This idea will be furthered explored throughout the entirety of this essay.
While Socrates describes democracy as the fairest regime, he refutes this claim by exposing the
disastrous effect lack of structure has in a democracy, producing only spurious pleasures and,
therefore, failing to achieve Socrates s justice, (demonstrated in his republic) which produces genuine
pleasures that greatly benefit the individual and the city.
Socrates uses a democratic society as a foundation to build his republic. Socrates says,

New Learning Opportunities for Adult Learners
The concept of adults as learners emerged both in this country and in Europe shortly after World War
I; however, only in the last few decades has the theory of adult learning matured. Knowles, Tough,
Houle, and Park, among others, have written extensively on the idea of the adult learner. In Tennant s
book (1997), he discussed Knowles adult learning theory. Knowles used the term andragogy to label
adult learning theory. The andragogical model of the adult learner is based on the assumptions that
adults need to know; adults have a need to be self directed learners and have a self concept of being
responsible for their own decisions and for their own lives; adults bring reservoirs of ... Show more

It is a popular and useful instructional medium for a number of reasons. It is easily accessible, it
supports flexible storage and display options, it provides a simple yet powerful publishing format and
a means to incorporate multiple media elements (Henke,1997). The possibilities of Web based
instructions are boundless and seems to have the potential to meet the needs of adult learners.
The WWW can provide stimulating material to enhance and enrich the learning experience by using
graphics, sound, video and virtual environments. It supports learning in own space, own pace, and
own time (Henke,1997). It has limitless possibilities of interactive computer multimedia instruction.
The potential benefits include personalized instruction, active learning, instant feedback, real world
simulation, as well as faster and more effective teaching and empowerment of learners (McManus,
1995). With all these benefits, WWW as an instruction delivery medium can indeed enhance learning
and meet the needs of adult learners. In addition, media are not mere vehicles that deliver instruction
but they are important components of the learning process. Studies have shown certain media
attributes are necessary for specific learning tasks, learning situations, and learners characteristics.

Driven by accelerated productivity gains and ever increasing performance, state of the art data
integration platforms, such as Informatica® PowerCenter®, handle the vast majority of today s
scenarios quite effectively. PowerCenter has enjoyed wide acceptance and use by high volume
customers representing companies and government organizations of all sizes. Based on this use,
Informatica has identified performance scenarios where processing data in a source or target database
instead of within the data integration server can lead to significant performance gains. These scenarios
are primarily where data is co located within a common database instance, such as when staging and
production reside in a single Oracle relational database management system (RDBMS) or where a
large investment has been made in database hardware and software that can provide additional
processing power. With these scenarios in mind, Informatica Corporation set out to deliver a solution
that delivers the best of both worlds without incurring undo configuration and management burden; a

35. Arizona Recycling Benefits
Recycling Benefits: Proposing A Bottle Bill for Arizona
Recycling has had a large impact in our community over the past few decades. Rather than throwing
all our trash in the garbage can, we, as a community should continue to recycle as much as possible.
Not only does it cut down on litter, it can also add to our growing economy, cut down on pollution,
and save our raw materials. Arizona currently recycles about sixty percent of its beverage containers,
and because only a handful of cities have mandatory recycling programs they are the perfect candidate
to experiment with a new recycling program (Bottle deposit 2). I propose that the state of Arizona put
a bottle bill, similar to the one in Oregon, into action. All eleven states that ... Show more content on

For example, when a customer purchases a fifty cent can of Dr. Pepper from his/her local 7 11, s/he
would end up paying fifty five cents, which would include a five cent deposit. At any time after
consuming the thirst quenching beverage, the customer may return his/her can to any store for his/her
five cent refund. This definitely provides an incentive to recycle beverage containers. In fact, in a
recent survey I conducted on my plane trip home from Thanksgiving, consumers said they often feel
they are getting back free money for recycling. Either because they think of the price of the beverage
as fifty five cents, or because they wait until they have several bottles or cans to return making their
refund much larger than the original nickel they put down. The consumers are not the only ones who
benefit because the retailers in most states also get reimbursed for the extra labor involved. This basic
form of bottle bill is effective and very useful.
The Oregon bottle bill is also beneficial. Oregon s immensely popular bottle bill has been effective in
getting soft drink and beer cans and bottles off the roadways, and boosting recycling. Much of the law
s success is due to a system that is easily understood by consumers and manageable for merchants
(Bottle deposit 1). However, a few of the other eleven states have tried to add to the basic bill making
them confusing, more time
