Gaps Exist-They always have and always will. However creating an environment to promote positive behaviour enriches the learning process, catalyses closing gaps between teachers and students and creates an understanding of learning patterns.
Differentiated instruction provides students with different avenues to acquire content; Encouraging positive behaviour creates an acceptance and understanding that all students within a classroom can learn with a positive disposition, regardless of differences in ability.
Life skills management 1
This document discusses life management skills which enable individuals to effectively handle everyday challenges. It identifies thinking skills, emotional skills, social skills, and time management skills as key components. Maintaining commitments, responding to change flexibility, managing people, and networking are some necessary thinking skills. Creating a happy classroom is generally at the top of our agenda as a teacher. Forget the staffroom camaraderie, the satisfaction of finishing a pile of marking and the joy of finding the missing glue lid; teachers simply want children to be happy.
But how can you create a happy classroom? What can you put in place to ensure that the happiness of everyone, you included, is easily put into place? Well, thanks to our Happy-Centred School programme, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve to help you.
Why is creating a happy classroom necessary?
In August 2019, the annual Good Childhood Report from the Children’s Society found overall happiness among 10- to 15-year-olds had dipped below 8 on a scale of 1 to 10, with an average of 7.89. Nearly 5% of those surveyed reported happiness scores below 5 out of 10, which equates to approximately 219,000 children in the UK being unhappy with life as a whole. It also reported a ‘significant dip’ in happiness with school in 2016/17.
So, as the report says, ‘As a society, we have to start taking children’s well-being more seriously,’ and as educators, we’re in a prime position to do this.

- 2. How to do it • Expectation Each week in the daily notices and on KAMAR messages will be the expectation focus for that week. Others, Learning, Environment or Self. • Monday morning or the first day of the working week. • Select the appropriate banner for your classroom.Write it on the board if you do not have a banner at the moment. • Context Choose your focus for each class that week. Record these in your planning book. A few words is sufficient or even one.

Data Data: Our present evidence shows: • We are teaching expectations 40% of the time • 83.5% of the staff and students know about the loyalty card system • 50% of the staff have never signed a loyalty card • • • • We need to show that We are teaching expectations at least 80% of the time Loyalty cards are being signed at least 80% of the time We have data to support these More next week…………………………………
