Q1. Provide a brief summary of the case in your own words.
This case study gives an overview of Maori cultural heritage, tourism in New Zealand,
commercialisation of Maori cultural heritage and opposition to this commercialisation by Maori
people. The study gives a brief introduction of vast Maori culture that is developed through many
centuries and how they are trying to oppose any type of outside interference and how New
Zealand s government is trying to commercialise it by trying to make a balance between Maori
cultures. There is a brief introduction to a Maori place called The Te Whanaga Paemi. A place
that has a very good scope of tourism but Maori people do not want it to be touch by tourism
industry, How commercial whaling was once part of Maori culture and how it s today, Laws and
legalisations made by government to protect New Zealand s cultural and natural heritage etc.
So, from our group s point of view we have summarised this case study into following points:

Araby
Joyce s Araby begins as a story about a young boy and his first love, his neighbor referred to in the
story as Mangan s sister. However, the young boy soon turns his innocent love and curiosity into a
much more intense desire, transforming this female and his journey to the bazaar into something
much more intense and lustful. From the beginning, Joyce paints a picture of the neighborhood in
which the boy lives as very dark and cold. Even the roomswithin his house are described as
unfriendly, quot;Air, musty from having long been enclosed, hung in all the rooms, and the waste
room behind the kitchen was littered with old and useless papers. The young boysees all of this
unpleasant setting around him, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attending the bazaar and getting her a gift is simply an extension of his obsession and desire for
this girl. Now, he has something specific to focus on and look to in their relationship. Immediately
after he tells her how he will buy her a gift, his thoughts turn to What innumerable follies laid
waste my waking and sleeping thoughts after the evening! I wished to annihilate the tedious
intervening days. I chafed against work of school. Again, the boy has no focus or use for anything
else going on in his life other than being involved with his love.
In comparing this to Susan Minot s Lust, we see many similarities in that both main characters
of the stories have desire and intense wanting, but they are different in form. Minot uses many
small, short encounters and stories to portray the main character s life and emotions. Similar to
Araby, the settings and atmosphere in which the young girl s life takes place is very negative
and unfriendly. Just from the first paragraph describing one of her boys, In his illegal car we
drove to the reservoir, radio blaring, talking fast, fast, fast. He got kicked out sophomore year,
we see that the people she is associating with and the settings are not very positive. Similar
Mangan s sister in Araby, the only positive light and desire the main character has are interactions
with boys and boyfriends, but all seem to only last for a very brief time. The girl s desire is more
mature and sexually

Geographic Information Systems ( Gis )
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has had one of the biggest impacts on the discipline of
modern day geography. Roger Tomlinson coined the term GIS in the early 1960s in Canada.
Tomlinson defined GIS in its early days as a computer application designed to perform certain
specific functions (Coppock et al; 1991). GIS is interdisciplinary in nature, having a distinctive role
in geography. The application created for the Canada GIS department was designed to summarize
and tabulate land inventory for the country; it solved two issues: to measure irregular homogeneous
geographic areas and to overlay different themes. Other early systems were created for the Chicago
Area Transportation Study, the U.S. Census Bureau and Landscape... Show more content on

From this perspective, GIS on its own is meaningless; it gains meaning only by its goals, which
generally involve the application of knowledge by scientists, but not science itself (Table 1;
McCauley 1993; Moll 1993; Skelly 1993b). Discussants view it the same as remote sensing, it is
a tool. Some scientist would argue that GIS is a part of the engineering field more than it is in
the science field. Engineering is identified as a problem solving activity and science is linked to
discovery and problem solving understandings. It is also felt that GIS is a tool used by
geographers to answer geographic questions, thus a tool only applied when going about the
business of geography, so it is geography.
Other theorists believe that the tool is inseparable from the science. When GIS advances, so does
the study of Geography and Cartography. Geographers are GIS toolmakers. They understand the
concepts, methods, models and theories that are behind the tool. They also understand how a
phenomenon is dispersed shown through the tool and knowledge of geographic concepts. This
leads to the thought that if you can do GIS, then you do geography so therefore if one is a science
the other must be a science as well.
The science debate over GIS is that it is a method and or a body of knowledge used to develop
and test spatial theories and hypothesis. Many believe that it is not

Reaction Temperature And The Rate Of Reaction
Discussion The experiment investigated the relationship between temperature and the rate of
reaction for the reaction of iron (III) nitrate with sodium thiosulfate. The results show that the rate
of iron (III) reacting forming iron (II) increases as the temperature of the solutions increases. Table 1
shows that when the temperature of the reactants is 4в„ѓ, it takes 54.173 seconds for the reaction to
occur to the stage that the cross to appears. The time taken for the solution to reach the same
transparency reduces to 16.37 seconds when the temperature is 25в„ѓ and to 2.09 seconds when the
temperature is 65в„ѓ. The line of best fit in Graph 1 suggests that there is an inverse relationship
between temperature and reaction time. This indicates that as the temperature increases, the rate of
reaction also increases. The results for the rate of reaction, as seen in Table 2, suggest that as the
temperature increases, the rate of reaction increases at a progressively greater rate. When the
temperature increases 21в„ѓ from 4в„ѓ to 25в„ѓ, the rate of reaction increases from 1.846 s 1 to
6.1100 s 1 while a similar increase in temperature from 25в„ѓ to 65в„ѓ has a much more significant
difference in the rate of reaction: 47.85s 1 at 65в„ѓ. This supports the hypothesis, as the rate of
reaction increases as the temperature increases. According to collision theory, increasing the
temperature increases the kinetic energy of the particles in the solution. This allows both a net
increase in the energy

My junior year I was pretty nervous hearing the word college class, worrying that it was going to
be harder than any other english class I would of been able to take. But I knew I needed to take the
class it would look better on college applications and would get me a better idea how a college
class would be, so I would be ready for next year. Something I have learned so far in my English
1101 class, to always read your paper two or three times because you could always miss a mistake
that could make or break your grade peer editing is so important. There has been some
challenges throughout the semester my biggest thing has been in my papers I have had many
run on sentences that I had no idea to fix. If my teacher didn t teach me how to check for it. My
papers have improved a lot since I have seen the actual mistakes that I have made because I
never had a teacher that peer edited and then showed me how to fix, I never knew how to fix it
until now. I plan to improve on my organization in my papers because sometimes I get off track i
ll be talking about something then go straight to a complete different topic. I m hoping I will
improve on that by the end of the year. I plan to improve on many other things in my papers, I
know that I have a teacher that will help with my papers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Muscle Stem Cell Lab Report
Mechanism of how antioxidants can preserve stem cell function:
LUO2014* Effects of antioxidants induced pluripotent stem cells:
They tested whether the addition of low dose antioxidants influences the growth, quality, and
genomic stability of induced pluripotent Stem cells (iPS cells). They found that the iPS cells grew
well and stemness was preserved up to 2 months with the addition of low dose antioxidant.
However, the addition of low dose antioxidants lowered the intracellular reactive oxygen species
(ROS) levels in iPS cells, it did not influence the expression of 53BP1 and ATM (two molecules

DEM treated MDSCs differentiated to a lower extent than did the untreated MDSCs. No difference
in the proliferation of NAC treated and untreated MDSCs however, DEM treatment suppressed the
MDSCs proliferation rate as compared to that of the untreated and NAC treated MDSCs.
2_In vitro survival of NAC /DEM treated MDSCs under oxidative/inflammatory stress conditions:
An obvious suppressed level of survival was observed in MDSCs pretreated with DEM when
exposed to either oxidative or inflammatory stressors in comparison to the untreated and NAC
treated MDSCs . On the contrary , NAC treated MDSCs showed a high level of survival under both
stress conditions than did either the untreated or the DEM treated MDSCs.

regeneration were reported in skeletal muscles injected with NAC treated MDSCs in comparison to
all other muscle injection groups. directions in scar tissue formation were the inverse of the
directions in host muscle regeneration.

The Creation Of The United Nations
The creation of the United Nations (UN), the largest organization in the world introduced a new
reform for collective security around the world after the failure of the League of Nations. Such a
reform is vital for the international community as it zealously promotes concord and security, which
is the most important goal in the 21st century. Thus, has the UN been successful in promoting
international peace and security? To an extent, they have been when it comes to certain economical,
humanitarian and environmental conflicts that occur within particular situations. However, one
must take into account that the UN has failed in promoting such an itinerary when it came to the
nuclear proliferation, the failure to uphold amity in Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Srebrenica Massacre.
The failure of the League of Nations caused the establishment of the United Nations after the
Second World War in 1945. After the establishment of the UN in 1945, the world became
divided ideologically into two camps, whose leaders the USSR and the US treated each other in
total suspicion and appeared to oppose each other on every major issue. (Diel Latif) It was
impossible to create international peace and security when the world has been divided into two
camps who distrusted and oppose each other.

Christian Faith Reflection
1. What do Jesus Christ and the Christian faith mean to you? How does your faith affect the way
you live?
My faith journey has been a long, gradual process of learning to know and follow Jesus as I grew
up in a local Mennonite church and a Christian family. The transition of going to college has
pushed me the most. Having independence put me in the situation to make all of my own
choices. Do I wake up and go to church? Do I go to chapel? How do I navigate choices around
alcohol use or dating? How does my faith inform these areas of life? I take the answers to these
questions seriously. One of the areas where I have grown and continue to grow is through the
classes I have taken. My classes have pushed me to consider what I believe and why I accept
certain things as true. My concentration on peace and conflict studies often leads to meaningful
class discussions where I am challenged to connect my faith to politics, economics, social issues,
and conflicts around the world.
I believe that it is important to actively live out a lifestyle that can be seen in Jesus s teachings and
the way he lived his life. I also look towards others who have a good grasp on what Christianity
means. I am fortunate enough to have many friends and family who represent how you can live a
life of following Jesus. Outside of these personal connections, two other prominent influences are
the popular speakers and authors Bob Goff and Shane Claiborne. Bob Goff talks and writes about
how love does and

The Pros And Cons Of Augmented Reality And The Virtual World
Technology, as of the year 2015, is so advanced that realism in a virtual world is a reality, But as
human beings we are always wanting more and our obsession to reproduce the world and human
experience in a virtual setting as brought us to the next step. On the spectrum between virtual
reality, which takes computer generated environments, and the real world, augmented realityis as
close to the real world as it gets in regards to technology. Augmented Reality or AR, takes our
environment and what we see around us and adds graphics, sounds, videos and GPS data to it. It
superimposes these in real time. Augmented reality already has and will continue to have a

Lucynell Cratet s Interactions With The Outsiders Short Story
In his interactions with the Lucynell Craters, Tom Shiftlet has a chance to achieve Grace. He
has been wandering and has no friends, and has found in this household a chance to work hard,
watch a beautiful sunset every night, and live a quiet life. This opportunity is hinted at when he
first approaches the two women sitting on the porch and turns his back to them to face the
sunset: He swung both his whole and his short arm up slowly so that they indicated an expanse
of sky and his figure formed a crooked cross. That crooked cross embodied in his figure
represents his chance at salvation. As he drives toward Mobile, having missed his chance, he prays,
Oh Lord! Break forth and wash the slime from this earth!

devil as he abandons Lucynell at The Hot Spot.
As in many of Flannery O Connor s stories, weather is an important indicator of characters moods
and important moments. As Tom Shiftlet drives off with the younger Lucynell Crater in the car,
supposedly to go on a honeymoon, The early afternoon was clear and open and surrounded by

he has lost his chance at salvation; this moment is enforced by the weather: Deep in the sky a

fantastic raindrops, like tin can tops, crashed over the rear of Mr. Shiftlet s car.

The Importance Of Spiritual Formation And Social Action
Some respondents reported that, while they were very eager to be engaged with LMAW and that
they had a long and deep appreciation for the importance of spiritual formation and social action,
they also felt that within their usual church life these two things are so disjointed as to be almost
irreconcilable.
One respondent said that a spiritual practice that fails to reflect action becomes self perception
grooming and another said prayer seems important, but also inadequate, [it is] also one of the
only things I can do to make a difference. So I keep praying about it. Just like I keep clicking on
all the online petitions I see about it but with little faith it will bring about any major change any
time soon.
These, and other respondents have had a hard time engaging with their church family. Some even
went as far as to say I was discouraged by my church to participate .
I suspect, however, that the disconnect, and subsequent sense of being a lone voice, unsupported
by the wider church, added to their feelings of aloneness. No doubt the protracted nature of
Australia s mistreatment of asylum seekers and the lack of a general uprising of Christian
community has also contributed to the sense of hopelessness. I do not believe that these feelings
are caused exclusively by their LMAW involvement but their involvement with a group (see below)
of like minded individuals may well have exacerbated their general aloneness and hopelessness.

A Detective With Whoville Police Department
I am a Detective with Whoville Police Department. I have full police powers and investigate all
cases within the city of Whoville. I investigate all crimes and have county and state recourses
available for assistance.
The first step in the investigation took place when the general manager of the D M food store
called the police department to speak with someone in reference to possible employee theft. On
February 2, 2016 at 1330 hours, I met with Hugh Downs. He explained to me that he suspected his
part time assistant manager, Lowraine James of theft.
As the detective assigned to the case, I immediately began an investigation. I asked if the food
store had cameras that I could view to see if anything can be seen. I also inquired as to whether the
computer history could be checked by appropriate IT personnel.
On February 3, 2016, I began reviewing video footage of L. James s work shift. While viewing
the footage, I noticed over the course of James work shift, she would stash cash on the side of
the cash register after ringing up several purchases from customers. At the end of her work shift
while James was counting monies in the cash drawer, she would separate the money and place
some of the money in a bank deposit bag and place the previously stashed cash in a brown paper
bag. On several occasions, I also noticed when L. James worked an evening shift, she would carry
a medium size box and place it in the trunk of her vehicle prior to the end of her work shift. This

Tropes In Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is set in Georgia in the early 1960 s, when Forrest is sitting at a bus stop, with
flashbacks recounting the time back to his birth in 1942. Because Forrest is sitting at the bus
stop telling his life story to anyone who stops to listen, very little of the film takes place in the
present tense; rather, the plot takes place in the past as Forrest recounts his life experiences.
Throughout the film, many populist tropes surface within Forrest s life, showing how Forrest lived
in a time where he was unknowingly exposed and even contributing to a populist way of life that
challenged the way average people viewed society in the United States. Forrest Gumpintegrates the
tropes of populism with the genres of romance, war, and adventure, sending a powerful message to
viewers of how they ought to view the world, at a time when corruption and impurity dominated
society.
From the beginning of the film, it is evident that Forrest suffers from a mild form of mental illness.
This characterization is apparent throughout the movie, as Forrest is often viewed as an idiot.
While trying to get into the local public school, Forrest is initially denied admission due to his IQ
being lower than the required level for the school system. Although the principal of the school never
explicitly calls him an idiot, the implication is so strong that even Forrest himself understands the
principal thinks he is too dumb for school.
The first populist trope in the movie is the characterization

Since the moment of birth we are placed on the dual track. A newborn is wrapped in a pink
blanket emphasizing that the newborn is a female and a newborn wrapped in a blue blanket shows
that the baby is a male. After this moment the newborn male or female are gender scripted. A female
is typically on the pink side of the dual track expected to be sensitive, feminine, dependent and to
stay home to clean the house and take care of her children. On the other hand, a male is on the
blue side of the dual track and suppose to be strong, masculine, independent, head of the

first time is when we are born we are place on either the pink or blue side of the dual track

to 13th December 2010.
Choice and Collection of Data
In order to study how stock prices react to these events, approximate three years of continuous
daily stock price are chose, beginning at 17th March 2008 and ending more than three months
after the final event at 22nd April 2011. In addition, SHANGHAI Stock Exchange Index (SSE) is
adopted as a proxy of the market portfolio.
The three year SAIC stock price data and its corresponding SSE index are obtained from finance
.yahoo.com, as it provides dividend adjusted closing prices. The two data are ordered in time in
Excel (Sort Ascending). It is found that 46 SAIC daily stock prices are missing due to suspension
of trading, therefore; 46 corresponding SSE daily index are removed in order to match up dates on
the two data series.

Revival Of The Fashion Industry
Term Paper still in Work: Revival of the Fashion Industry in Paris (1945 1960)
The French fashion industry and French Haute Couture survived the postwar era. Using high
fashion for the reconstruction of the French national image with billions of francs in state financial
assistance is due to the intertwined identity with Frenchness and fashion. The French tradition of
fashion influence is centuries old buoyed with royal patronage origins. This established the prestige
and authority as the world s tastemaker to reconstruct France in the global economy. The fashion
industry worldwide today is valued at over Вѕ trillion dollars annually.
During World War II many fashion houses closed during the occupation of Paris. Germany had

This changed in 1947 when the French designer Christian Dior launched his New Look, drastically
altering the square shouldered, straight female silhouette of the last ten years. This look was
decidedly opulent and decadent. The skirts alone used up to 30 yards of fabric, as much fabric as
10 15 wartime skirts. The fashions developed after the war reflected a hopeful and optimistic view.
Fashion reflects values and lifestyle. The prospects for the French fashion business after the war
looked rather uncertain. French designers retained a key position in the production of fashion as
they managed to authenticate their designs and brands under the challenge of mass reproduction,
copying and counterfeiting. Under the occupation, Haute Couture had been under the supervision of
the Office Art et CreВґation (OFAC) which subsisted as a government agency, pulling together the
French creative industries after the war. OFAC representatives spoke against luxury for the
masses, stating that it would be a waste to incorporate so much taste and imagination into
mediocre raw material that will promptly refuse to serve further as support to the immaterial
factors of creation. There should be no shortcuts for the prestige of Paris fashions. Therefore Paris
ought not to restart exports before being sure of again reaching its best level of production. Textile
rationing ended in July 1947 but there were still shortages in raw materials. Priorities of the

Exploring The Role Of Hades In Greek Mythology
In Greek mythology, Hades was regarded as the oldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although the last
son regurgitated by his father. He and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated their father s
generation of gods, the Titans, and claimed rulership over the cosmos. Hades received the
underworld, Zeus the sky, and Poseidon the sea, with the solid earth long the province of Gaia
available to all three concurrently. Hades was often portrayed with his three headed guard dog
Cerberus and, in later mythological authors, associated with the Helm of Darkness and the bident.
Many do not know but Hades is not only the god of the Underworld but the dead and riches.
In Greek mythology, Hades the god of the underworld, was a son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea.
He had three sisters, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera, as well as two brothers, Zeus, the youngest of the
three, and Poseidon. Upon reaching adulthood, Zeus managed to force his father to disgorge his
siblings. After their release, the six younger gods, along with allies they managed to gather,
challenged the elder gods for power in the Titanomachy, a divine war. The war lasted for ten years
and ended with the victory of the younger gods. Following their victory, according to a single
famous passage in the Iliad (xv.187 93), Hades and his two brothers, Poseidon and Zeus, drew lots
for realms to rule. Zeus received the sky, Poseidon received the seas, and Hades received the
underworld, the unseen realm to which the souls of the dead go upon leaving the world as well as

Historical Fiction And Its Importance On Society
Thesis Statement
We all understand the creative element that is in all fictional movies, including movies about
historical figures and events. Historical fiction is one of the most popular film genres. The general
assumption is that it helps people remember and understand history, giving us facts with some
creative liberties. In truth, it is changing the way we see history and thus changing our traditions
and our culture. The paper that follows should

В· Explaining the importance of historical accuracy in fictional films

В· Explain the negative impact that inaccurate historical films have on society
Historical Fiction and its Importance on Society
We constantly see portrayals of historical events and figures across all forms of entertainment,
whether it be a book, theatre or feature film. We are constantly bombarded with tales of dictators,
gladiators, great wars, lone survivors, myths and legends. We are constantly offered historical
fiction because we enjoy it. We like to see subjects that bored us in the classroom suddenly come
to life and entertain us on the big screen. We like to put a face to the legends that we have read
about in literature. It is something that we as a society use to break away from reality for a
moment. The medium of film has the ability to manipulate these stories to fit the entertainment and

Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style
Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown
especially in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period
shows just how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible.
Throughout the time period writingand beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing
American poet Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include
poems such as To My Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th,
1666 and while Edwards wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an
Angry God. These works differ in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in
regards to writing styleand beliefs presented in these works.
The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing
styles. Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they
write, and what they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s
composition and rhyme scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme
is a very basic A A B B scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were
one, then surely we./If ever man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate
the simplicity in her writing. Contrast this to the opening lines of Sinners in the Hands of an

The Last Judgment is the large painting on the inside of Brunelleschi s Dome. A number of
people were responlible for the creation of this painting, which was started as early as 1570

initially in charge of painting the dome; however, his death in 1574 caused this reasonability to be
transferred to Federico Zuccaro who completed the frescoes in 1579. When you first walk to the

Russian Avant-Garde Essay
Russian Avant Garde was born at the start of the 20th century out of intellectual and cultural
turmoil. Through the analysis of artworks by Aleksandr Rodchenko and El Lissitzky this essay
attempts to explore the freedom experienced by artists after the Russian Revolution in 1917. This
avant garde movement was among the boldest and most advanced in Europe. It signified for many
artists an end to the past academic conventions as they began to experiment with the notions of
space, following the basic elements of colour, shape and line. They strove for a utopian existence
for all benefited by and inspired through the art they created. They worked with, for and alongside

Rodchenko overlaps planes of colour, form and texture in an architectural way. His design
includes a large clock signifying the importance the Revolution placed on precision and
efficiency, as well as a speaker s rostrum, a huge billboard and a space to sell books and
newspapers. Rodchenko became an indisputable supporter of the Bolsheviks after the revolution
and held roles within the newly formed Fine Art Department of the People s Commissariat of
Enlightenment. El Lissitzky was a Suprematist and therefore his goal was to create work that
embodied utopian ideals and values. His work was more transcendental and he sort to
manipulate space and perspective to shape the new world. El Lissitzky developed Prouns (an
abbreviation of Russian words meaning project for the establishment of new art ). These images
were meant to move and inspire the masses. El Lissitzky described the Proun s power is to create
aims, this is the artists freedom, denied to the scientist (Margolin 1997, p. 33). He aimed to create
works that would be clear to everyone in an attempt to build a classless society. Despite the
isolation of Russia from the rest of the world as a result of the Revolution, El Lissitzky still
believed in a utopian world. He chose to recreate form and space from scratch. The Proun brought
together architecture and painting. Proun 1 E, The Town (see figure 2), closely models a town

In learning about The Beatles over the past few months, I have gained great appreciation for
them as a band. Particularly, I really enjoyed learning about and listening to the many love songs
written by The Beatles. It was a difficult task to choose just three songs to write about, however I
chose the three songs I enjoyed most. They are each love songs from a different era of The Beatles
work throughout their years. I Should Have Known Better , Michelle , and Dear Prudence have all
left great impressions on me. I Should Have Known Better was issued on the B side of A Hard Day
s Night in 1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). It was composed by Lennon was released on July 13, 1964 as a
single along with A Hard Day s Night as the Soundtrack to the film also called A Hard Day s Night,
which was released on July 10, 1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). This song was one of many inspired by
Bob Dylan as we learned he left quite the impression on the Beatles, especially Lennon. This
inspiration led Lennon to write more meaningful lyrics (Benitez, 2016). It is easy to understand
why this song was popular reaching the top Billboard charts at number 53 as Lennon s harmonica
playing skills are capturing (Wikipedia, 2016). The song opens with Lennon playing the
harmonica and it has a very upbeat, light tune and melody. This song is the first song since I m a

Esterification Of 3-Methylbutyl Ethanoate Lab Report
Esterification of 3 MethylButyl Ethanoate Results Distillation range: 97 102В°C Ester has a
fruity odor, smells very much like banana. Discussion Results table: Observations
ProcessObservations RefluxWhen adding 3 methyl 1 butanol, sulphuric acid and ethanoic acid
heat were produced by the colourless mixture, which pertained a smell of sulphuric acid. Once
heating began, the solution quickly changed to orange and continued to rapidly change to a
darker colour. After approximately six minutes, it began to bubble and the colour was now a
dark red colour, very similar to the shade of a cherry. At this point, the liquid began to vaporise,
rising up to the condenser about a third way before it was condensed to a liquid which ran back
down the condenser to the pear shaped flask. The strong smell of the sulphuric smell began to
fade, the smell it was replaced with still smelt strong and bad but to a less extent. The mixture
remained a dark red colour for the remaining duration of the reflux process, continually bubbling.
Separation/Purification The initial substance was a dark red colour, similar to the colour of a
cherry. When added to approximately 20mL of water, the mixture changed to a yellow colour,
forming an insoluble layer. The bottom layer, which was soluble was predominately clear but
pertained the original colour of the mixture at the bottom. There was a clear distinction between the
two layers. When the Sodium Carbonate was added to the organic mixture, it appeared

The 2016 BBC production of A Midsummer Night s Dream, adapted by Russell T. Davies and

ample use computer generated images, which distinguishes it from any stage adaptation, and from
many earlier film adaptations. They add a major element to the plot which is not part of most
conventional interpretations of the text. That is to portray Theseus a dictator and Athens a

Mergers and Acquisitions: A merger is said to occur when at least two organizations consent to
consolidate, bringing about another element or with the subsequent firm keeping up the character

monopolistic conduct have tormented Microsoft s operations in Europe. A merger may take either

Essay Comparing The Marriage Of Figaro And Twelfth Night
A common discussion between the sexes is the omnipotent power that men seem to hold over
women in all societies. Why do men always have the social advantage over women? Both
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Beaumarchais The Marriage of Figaro show that there is indeed
a social stigma placed on women where women are not allowed as much freedom to either fight
back against a suitor or choose not to accept a suitor s love and choose another. Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night focuses mainly on the negative stigmas against women, while Beaumarchais The
Marriage of Figaro places most of the blame for perpetuating the stigmas on the aristocracy,
especially the men within the aristocracy (i.e. the Count). Both texts examine the social role
women play in society, and both texts critique the societal norms that restrict women.

Towards the beginning, Suzanne expresses her dislike of the positioning of her and Figaro s
bedroom. She is afraid that the Count will somehow distract Figaro enough for him to lie with

servant of the aristocracy and as a young woman, Suzanne is likely to fall prey to powerful men,
just because they have power over her. The Countess, too, is in a similar position, although she is of
the aristocracy. The Countess is held strictly accountable for the rumors that she was engaging in an
affair, even though the Count himself is attempting to engage in his own affair with Suzanne. The
Count accuses the Countess of unfaithfulness and doesn t even consider that his own attempt at an
affair is an account of his own unfaithfulness. Suzanne also encounters this issue when the Count

1.INTRODUCTION
A patent is a grant generally given by the government of a country certifying that a particular
individual or group was the creator of an invention or innovative process. The patent holder is
given exclusive rights to their invention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to this intellectual property was addressed in the American Constitution stating that inventors
would have exclusive rights to their discoveries. The Patent Act made patents last for fourteen years
and gave inventors exclusive rights to their invention. There was no possibility of extending this
time. Many inventors argued that this was unsatisfactory and that since inventions could take many
years to initially be commercialized they did not have much time to make use of their patent.
Another key point in the act was that foreigners were not allowed to apply for patents. The
Secretary of State, the Secretary of War, and the Attorney General were the only three people
initially given power to approve or reject patents. Patents were examined by these three to ensure
applications met the given criteria but this process was criticized as taking an unreasonable amount
of time to complete. It could take months before a patent was sufficiently examined.
2.3 Patent Reform
There have been a multitude of times in history where patent laws have been either updated or
thrown out. The Patent Acts of 1793 and 1837 are two such cases. These acts reformed how patents

Essay On The Us Constitution And The Bill Of Rights
The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights are iconic pieces of American History. These two
documents are very important for every American to know and to read critically because it can
highly affect them. However, there are many people in the country that do not know what is exactly
in these documents. I have read through these pieces, and I will be discussing what I found to be
most surprising to find in the piece. Also, the items that I expected to find in the documents that is
not there. Firstly, I will begin with the Constitution. After reading the Constitution, there were many
things that I was shocked to see in there. The first one was in Article 1, section 2. While I knew it
mentioned the number of representatives in the House of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I just figured if there was proof, then there would not need to be multiple witness testimonies.
Finally at the end of Article VII, there is a note of all the mistakes made in the piece, this
includes, The Word, the, being interlined between the seventh and eighth Lines of the first Page,
The Word Thirty being partly written on an Erazure in the fifteenth Line of the first Page, The
Words is tried being interlined between the thirty second and thirty third Lines of the first Page
and the Word the being interlined between the forty third and forty fourth Lines of the second
Page. . I did not know that was there. At first I was very confused as to what exactly those lines
meant. However, I feel like that is a nice touch to keep because it is a reminder of the actual
document. In similar fashion, I took a look at the Bill of Rights. After reviewing the Bill of
Rights, there were many things I was surprised to see. The first one I will start with is the Second
Amendment, which states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew the Second
Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well
regulated army for the United States, as well. Everyone around me has just discussed about being
able to have guns not the other items. In the

Specifically the genetic alteration of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic

As gefitinib and erlotinib are competitive inhibitors of the EGFR tyrosine kinase, in the last decade

Covalent inhibitors are a class of kinase inhibitors, which forming covalent bond to the active site

Polier et al. 2013 identified a new mode of action for ATP competitive kinase inhibitors, is a
significant class of anticancer agents, these inhibitors are used in the clinic (Polier et al., 2013).
This discovery of new inhibitory mechanism of action exposes the interactions among the
chaperone protein heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), its co chaperone CDC37 (a scaffold protein) and
the protein kinases that they regulate. However, the inhibition of Hsp90 in vivo cause in
degradation of kinase clients, with a curative effect in dependent cancers. Result of this study shows
that the Cdc37 binding to protein kinases is itself disturbed by ATP competitive kinase inhibitors
(vemurafenib and lapatinib). Polier et al used the commonly mutated BRAF kinase model to
perform their investigations.
Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a disease with few therapeutic options. Protein kinase C
beta (PKCГџ) is involved in important cellular functions. It was highly expressed in the majority
of MPM cells. Enzastaurin (LY317615.HCl) is a novel inhibitor of PKC, which has preclinical
activity against MPM, and exhibited synergism with cisplatin. PKCГџ inhibition in MPM might be
able to reduce the invasiveness of MPM by affecting cytoskeletal function (Faoroa et al., 2008).

Effective Crime Management
Management of Crime 12
The Management of Crime can only be Effective
When the Wider Police Family is Utilized
Introduction
Crime is a complicated study that police forces have engaged in more in recent decades to
determine the best methods for managing its occurrence. Methods of management run the gamut
from old fashioned relational policing in which the officer gets to know a certain group of people
intimately by walking a prescribed route through neighborhoods, to the much more modern idea of
containing crime by using different technological and scientific methods. The main issue with the
different modes of crime management is that they are all effective to a certain degree, but it is
difficult to determine to what extent. There have been studies conducted to see what is the most
effective means of minimizing crime, but the general finding is that it is largely dependent on
time and location. No one method has been gauged to be completely successful, so it is difficult
to know which one to use. A premise, one that is given away by the title to this paper, is that only
by using the wider police family can crime be effectively managed. This does not mean that crime
has to be contained using a family hierarchical model, but that every member and department of a
police force must be utilized correctly. This may also seem to be a shotgun approach to policing,
but it is far from it. A scientific method is employed to make sure that every officer is used in the

Semantic Structure
According to our text demarcation of Isaiah 54:11 17, we now are able to
present the following structural outline of 54:11 17:
A. Promise: Restoration of Zion (vv. 11a 14a) 1.Miserable state of Zion (11a)
 2.Description of

B. Promise:ProtectionofZion(vv.14b 17d)
1. Assurance of protection (14b 15b)
2. Reason:
Yahweh s sovereign power (16a 17b)
C. ConcludingRemark:Inheritanceoftheservants(17c d)
Thematic Progression
In order to understand the relationship between the singular servant and the plural servants, we first
will discuss briefly the thematic development of the servant motif within its larger literary context
of Isaiah 40 53. Second, we will investigate the role of the
84
suffering servant and his rewards in 52:13 53:12. Then we will examine 54:11 17, in which appears
the theme of the servants and inheritance.
The larger literary block of Isaiah 40 55 is subdivided into two sections, chapters 40 48 and 49 55,
according to the distinctive thematic emphasis embodied in a different literary structure. On the
one hand, Isaiah 40 48 primarily deals with the vanity of idol worship (40:19, 20; 41:7; 42:17;
44:10, 12, 15, 17), the former and latter things (41:22; 42:9; 43:9, 18; 46:9; 48:3), God s appointed
agent Cyrus (41:2 5, 25 29; 42:1 9; 46:11; 48:14 15), and the

I have continuously self educated myself as an adult. I gained a very deep understanding of
formulating equations for advanced explosive techniques at the age of eighteen. This involved
ignition systems and placement of demolitions, using multiple chemical mediums. As a twenty
year old, I gained an understanding of passive infrared technology. I improvised a solution by
removing heat signature problems. I used an understanding of basic thermal dynamics, scientific
method and basic mechanical engineering to apply a solution to remove a specific heat
signature. I took interest in clean energy development during my mid to late twenties. I tested
myself by creating my own solar panels and improved solar cell efficiency. I implemented
mirrors for efficiency as well as developing a cooling system to prevent solar cell decay. I recently
designed a theoretical improvement to modern day alternators. By developing a magnetic belt
drive, I eliminated key friction points to increase efficiency in the electrical output of the alternator.
My interest then progressed to HHO generators, which expanded into the hypothetical development
of a hydrogen motor. In my late twenties, I became involved in developing a clean solution to
growing sustainable food. I have recently designed and tested my own aquaponics system, free

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common conditions of hyperandrogenic
disorders in reproductive age of women. It comes with mentrual irregularity, ovary disfunction and

hirsutism, etc.1,2 Additionally, patients with PCOS also experience with serious cardiovascular
problems, and metabolic disorders such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity and type 2 diabetes

In COMBO group, patients received metformin (initiated at 500 mg by mouth once daily and
increased to 1000 mg twice daily) and liraglutide (started at 0.6 mg inject subcutaneous once daily
and increased to 1.2 mg once daily). On the other hand, in LIRA3 group, liraglutide was started at
0.6 mg injected subcutaneous once daily and increased up to 3 mg daily. Therefore, the primary
outcome was focused on the mean change in anthropometric measures (heights, weight, and waist
circumference) of obesity. Besides, the secondary outcomes were based on metabolic and hormonal
changes.6
For safety clinical assessment, patients were screened at the beginning and week 4, 8 and 12
during the study; overall results were analyzed after twelve weeks. From pre and post treatment
resutls, there was a significant decrease (p 0.01) in weight and BMI in both groups, and a
significant decrease (p = 0.003) in waist circumference in LIRA3. Hence, there was a clinically
significant of each group in reducing weight (35.7% in COMBO and 57.1% in LIRA3) with OR
= 0.42, 95% CI = 0.09 1.9; however, it was not statistically significant between two groups.
Moreover, to compare the differences between COMBO and LIRA3, BMI and waist
circumference showed statistically significant. For BMI results, LIRA3 had the average decrease

Why Was Go Ask Alice Banned
Go Ask Alice Banned Book What is a banned book? A banned book is a book that has been
removed from the shelves because of its content. There are many reasons a book can be banned,
a few of those reasons are is it contains offensive language, promotion of a religious viewpoint,
unsuited to an age group, and many more. Lots of people and organizations have and still attempt
to ban books. Some organizations that have banned books are The Anti Defamation league, The
Christian Voters League, and The Central Intelligence Agency. The book I have chosen to read is
Go Ask Alice. The book is in the form of a journal that belonged to a girl named Alice. She got

Ethnic Identity
To solve this identity crisis, I believe all ethnic groups should stick to their roots and embrace
their unique culture to create a mosaic society. Similar to a mosaic that uses many different
colored glasses to create a beautiful piece of art, people should value and appreciate their
differences from others. Instead of being submissive and following American societal norms,
cultures should strive to build cultural, political, social, and economic communities that
appreciate and emphasize the richness of their own individual cultures and realize that trying to
educate racist people is not the best use of our energy. As a result, everyone can come together to
create a unified mosaic. Amy Tan s essay titled, Mother Tongue describes the idea that we all
speak different languages unconsciously and that we are categorized by the way we speak. Tan
describes her life with her mother in America and how her mother s limited English had an
influence on her life. For example, Tan s mother once said, Why he don t send me check, already
two weeks late. So, mad he lie to me, losing me money (Tan, 365). For Tan, her mother s way of
speaking English is an intimate language used only among her family. I believe Americans view
this type of language as poor because they cannot appreciate the level of intimacy in it; however,
Americans do not realize is that many use this type of intimate language when communicating with
babies in gurgles, cooing, and indistinguishable noises. The

This case study gives an overview of Maori cultural heritage, tourism in New Zealand, commercialisation of Maori cultural heritage and opposition to this commercialisation by Maori people. The study gives a brief introduction of vast Maori culture that is developed through many centuries and how they are trying to oppose any type of outside interference and how New Zealand s government is trying to commercialise it by trying to make a balance between Maori cultures. There is a brief introduction to a Maori place called The Te Whanaga Paemi. A place that has a very good scope of tourism but Maori people do not want it to be touch by tourism industry, How commercial whaling was once part of Maori culture and how it s today, Laws and legalisations made by government to protect New Zealand s cultural and natural heritage etc. So, from our group s point of view we have summarised this case study into following points: 1.Maori people and Treaty of Waitangi Maori are the native people of New ... • 3. Araby Joyce s Araby begins as a story about a young boy and his first love, his neighbor referred to in the story as Mangan s sister. However, the young boy soon turns his innocent love and curiosity into a much more intense desire, transforming this female and his journey to the bazaar into something much more intense and lustful. From the beginning, Joyce paints a picture of the neighborhood in which the boy lives as very dark and cold. Even the roomswithin his house are described as unfriendly, quot;Air, musty from having long been enclosed, hung in all the rooms, and the waste room behind the kitchen was littered with old and useless papers. The young boysees all of this unpleasant setting around him, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attending the bazaar and getting her a gift is simply an extension of his obsession and desire for this girl. Now, he has something specific to focus on and look to in their relationship. Immediately after he tells her how he will buy her a gift, his thoughts turn to What innumerable follies laid waste my waking and sleeping thoughts after the evening! I wished to annihilate the tedious intervening days. I chafed against work of school. Again, the boy has no focus or use for anything else going on in his life other than being involved with his love. In comparing this to Susan Minot s Lust, we see many similarities in that both main characters of the stories have desire and intense wanting, but they are different in form. Minot uses many small, short encounters and stories to portray the main character s life and emotions. Similar to Araby, the settings and atmosphere in which the young girl s life takes place is very negative and unfriendly. Just from the first paragraph describing one of her boys, In his illegal car we drove to the reservoir, radio blaring, talking fast, fast, fast. He got kicked out sophomore year, we see that the people she is associating with and the settings are not very positive. Similar Mangan s sister in Araby, the only positive light and desire the main character has are interactions with boys and boyfriends, but all seem to only last for a very brief time. The girl s desire is more mature and sexually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Geographic Information Systems ( Gis ) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has had one of the biggest impacts on the discipline of modern day geography. Roger Tomlinson coined the term GIS in the early 1960s in Canada. Tomlinson defined GIS in its early days as a computer application designed to perform certain specific functions (Coppock et al; 1991). GIS is interdisciplinary in nature, having a distinctive role in geography. The application created for the Canada GIS department was designed to summarize and tabulate land inventory for the country; it solved two issues: to measure irregular homogeneous geographic areas and to overlay different themes. Other early systems were created for the Chicago Area Transportation Study, the U.S. Census Bureau and Landscape... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this perspective, GIS on its own is meaningless; it gains meaning only by its goals, which generally involve the application of knowledge by scientists, but not science itself (Table 1; McCauley 1993; Moll 1993; Skelly 1993b). Discussants view it the same as remote sensing, it is a tool. Some scientist would argue that GIS is a part of the engineering field more than it is in the science field. Engineering is identified as a problem solving activity and science is linked to discovery and problem solving understandings. It is also felt that GIS is a tool used by geographers to answer geographic questions, thus a tool only applied when going about the business of geography, so it is geography. Other theorists believe that the tool is inseparable from the science. When GIS advances, so does the study of Geography and Cartography. Geographers are GIS toolmakers. They understand the concepts, methods, models and theories that are behind the tool. They also understand how a phenomenon is dispersed shown through the tool and knowledge of geographic concepts. This leads to the thought that if you can do GIS, then you do geography so therefore if one is a science the other must be a science as well. The science debate over GIS is that it is a method and or a body of knowledge used to develop and test spatial theories and hypothesis. Many believe that it is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reaction Temperature And The Rate Of Reaction Discussion The experiment investigated the relationship between temperature and the rate of reaction for the reaction of iron (III) nitrate with sodium thiosulfate. The results show that the rate of iron (III) reacting forming iron (II) increases as the temperature of the solutions increases. Table 1 shows that when the temperature of the reactants is 4в„ѓ, it takes 54.173 seconds for the reaction to occur to the stage that the cross to appears. The time taken for the solution to reach the same transparency reduces to 16.37 seconds when the temperature is 25в„ѓ and to 2.09 seconds when the temperature is 65в„ѓ. The line of best fit in Graph 1 suggests that there is an inverse relationship between temperature and reaction time. This indicates that as the temperature increases, the rate of reaction also increases. The results for the rate of reaction, as seen in Table 2, suggest that as the temperature increases, the rate of reaction increases at a progressively greater rate. When the temperature increases 21в„ѓ from 4в„ѓ to 25в„ѓ, the rate of reaction increases from 1.846 s 1 to 6.1100 s 1 while a similar increase in temperature from 25в„ѓ to 65в„ѓ has a much more significant difference in the rate of reaction: 47.85s 1 at 65в„ѓ. This supports the hypothesis, as the rate of reaction increases as the temperature increases. According to collision theory, increasing the temperature increases the kinetic energy of the particles in the solution. This allows both a net increase in the energy ... Essay On Self Analysis Paper Self Analysis My junior year I was pretty nervous hearing the word college class, worrying that it was going to be harder than any other english class I would of been able to take. But I knew I needed to take the class it would look better on college applications and would get me a better idea how a college class would be, so I would be ready for next year. Something I have learned so far in my English 1101 class, to always read your paper two or three times because you could always miss a mistake that could make or break your grade peer editing is so important. There has been some challenges throughout the semester my biggest thing has been in my papers I have had many run on sentences that I had no idea to fix. If my teacher didn t teach me how to check for it. My papers have improved a lot since I have seen the actual mistakes that I have made because I never had a teacher that peer edited and then showed me how to fix, I never knew how to fix it until now. I plan to improve on my organization in my papers because sometimes I get off track i ll be talking about something then go straight to a complete different topic. • 10. The Creation Of The United Nations The creation of the United Nations (UN), the largest organization in the world introduced a new reform for collective security around the world after the failure of the League of Nations. Such a reform is vital for the international community as it zealously promotes concord and security, which is the most important goal in the 21st century. Thus, has the UN been successful in promoting international peace and security? To an extent, they have been when it comes to certain economical, humanitarian and environmental conflicts that occur within particular situations. However, one must take into account that the UN has failed in promoting such an itinerary when it came to the nuclear proliferation, the failure to uphold amity in Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Srebrenica Massacre. The failure of the League of Nations caused the establishment of the United Nations after the Second World War in 1945. After the establishment of the UN in 1945, the world became divided ideologically into two camps, whose leaders the USSR and the US treated each other in total suspicion and appeared to oppose each other on every major issue. (Diel Latif) It was impossible to create international peace and security when the world has been divided into two camps who distrusted and oppose each other. • 11. Christian Faith Reflection 1. What do Jesus Christ and the Christian faith mean to you? How does your faith affect the way you live? My faith journey has been a long, gradual process of learning to know and follow Jesus as I grew up in a local Mennonite church and a Christian family. The transition of going to college has pushed me the most. Having independence put me in the situation to make all of my own choices. Do I wake up and go to church? Do I go to chapel? How do I navigate choices around alcohol use or dating? How does my faith inform these areas of life? I take the answers to these questions seriously. One of the areas where I have grown and continue to grow is through the classes I have taken. My classes have pushed me to consider what I believe and why I accept certain things as true. My concentration on peace and conflict studies often leads to meaningful class discussions where I am challenged to connect my faith to politics, economics, social issues, and conflicts around the world. I believe that it is important to actively live out a lifestyle that can be seen in Jesus s teachings and the way he lived his life. I also look towards others who have a good grasp on what Christianity means. I am fortunate enough to have many friends and family who represent how you can live a life of following Jesus. Outside of these personal connections, two other prominent influences are the popular speakers and authors Bob Goff and Shane Claiborne. Bob Goff talks and writes about how love does and ... He has been wandering and has no friends, and has found in this household a chance to work hard, watch a beautiful sunset every night, and live a quiet life. This opportunity is hinted at when he first approaches the two women sitting on the porch and turns his back to them to face the sunset: He swung both his whole and his short arm up slowly so that they indicated an expanse of sky and his figure formed a crooked cross. • 15. The Importance Of Spiritual Formation And Social Action Some respondents reported that, while they were very eager to be engaged with LMAW and that they had a long and deep appreciation for the importance of spiritual formation and social action, they also felt that within their usual church life these two things are so disjointed as to be almost irreconcilable. One respondent said that a spiritual practice that fails to reflect action becomes self perception grooming and another said prayer seems important, but also inadequate, [it is] also one of the only things I can do to make a difference. So I keep praying about it. Just like I keep clicking on all the online petitions I see about it but with little faith it will bring about any major change any time soon. These, and other respondents have had a hard time engaging with their church family. Some even went as far as to say I was discouraged by my church to participate . I suspect, however, that the disconnect, and subsequent sense of being a lone voice, unsupported by the wider church, added to their feelings of aloneness. No doubt the protracted nature of Australia s mistreatment of asylum seekers and the lack of a general uprising of Christian community has also contributed to the sense of hopelessness. I do not believe that these feelings are caused exclusively by their LMAW involvement but their involvement with a group (see below) of like minded individuals may well have exacerbated their general aloneness and hopelessness. The first step in the investigation took place when the general manager of the D M food store called the police department to speak with someone in reference to possible employee theft. On February 2, 2016 at 1330 hours, I met with Hugh Downs. He explained to me that he suspected his part time assistant manager, Lowraine James of theft. As the detective assigned to the case, I immediately began an investigation. I asked if the food store had cameras that I could view to see if anything can be seen. I also inquired as to whether the computer history could be checked by appropriate IT personnel. On February 3, 2016, I began reviewing video footage of L. James s work shift. While viewing the footage, I noticed over the course of James work shift, she would stash cash on the side of the cash register after ringing up several purchases from customers. At the end of her work shift while James was counting monies in the cash drawer, she would separate the money and place some of the money in a bank deposit bag and place the previously stashed cash in a brown paper bag. • 17. Tropes In Forrest Gump Forrest Gump is set in Georgia in the early 1960 s, when Forrest is sitting at a bus stop, with flashbacks recounting the time back to his birth in 1942. Because Forrest is sitting at the bus stop telling his life story to anyone who stops to listen, very little of the film takes place in the present tense; rather, the plot takes place in the past as Forrest recounts his life experiences. Throughout the film, many populist tropes surface within Forrest s life, showing how Forrest lived in a time where he was unknowingly exposed and even contributing to a populist way of life that challenged the way average people viewed society in the United States. Forrest Gumpintegrates the tropes of populism with the genres of romance, war, and adventure, sending a powerful message to viewers of how they ought to view the world, at a time when corruption and impurity dominated society. From the beginning of the film, it is evident that Forrest suffers from a mild form of mental illness. This characterization is apparent throughout the movie, as Forrest is often viewed as an idiot. While trying to get into the local public school, Forrest is initially denied admission due to his IQ being lower than the required level for the school system. Although the principal of the school never explicitly calls him an idiot, the implication is so strong that even Forrest himself understands the principal thinks he is too dumb for school. The patent holder is given exclusive rights to their invention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to this intellectual property was addressed in the American Constitution stating that inventors would have exclusive rights to their discoveries. The Patent Act made patents last for fourteen years and gave inventors exclusive rights to their invention. There was no possibility of extending this time. Many inventors argued that this was unsatisfactory and that since inventions could take many years to initially be commercialized they did not have much time to make use of their patent. Another key point in the act was that foreigners were not allowed to apply for patents. The Secretary of State, the Secretary of War, and the Attorney General were the only three people initially given power to approve or reject patents. Patents were examined by these three to ensure applications met the given criteria but this process was criticized as taking an unreasonable amount of time to complete. It could take months before a patent was sufficiently examined. 2.3 Patent Reform There have been a multitude of times in history where patent laws have been either updated or thrown out. The Patent Acts of 1793 and 1837 are two such cases. These acts reformed how patents were processed, changed what the criteria for patents were, and organized how patents were filed. In 1849 the Department of the Interior became responsible for managing patents. The Patent Act ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay On The Us Constitution And The Bill Of Rights The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights are iconic pieces of American History. These two documents are very important for every American to know and to read critically because it can highly affect them. However, there are many people in the country that do not know what is exactly in these documents. I have read through these pieces, and I will be discussing what I found to be most surprising to find in the piece. Also, the items that I expected to find in the documents that is not there. Firstly, I will begin with the Constitution. After reading the Constitution, there were many things that I was shocked to see in there. The first one was in Article 1, section 2. While I knew it mentioned the number of representatives in the House of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally at the end of Article VII, there is a note of all the mistakes made in the piece, this includes, The Word, the, being interlined between the seventh and eighth Lines of the first Page, The Word Thirty being partly written on an Erazure in the fifteenth Line of the first Page, The Words is tried being interlined between the thirty second and thirty third Lines of the first Page and the Word the being interlined between the forty third and forty fourth Lines of the second Page. . I did not know that was there. At first I was very confused as to what exactly those lines meant. However, I feel like that is a nice touch to keep because it is a reminder of the actual document. In similar fashion, I took a look at the Bill of Rights. After reviewing the Bill of Rights, there were many things I was surprised to see. The first one I will start with is the Second Amendment, which states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew the Second Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well regulated army for the United States, as well. Everyone around me has just discussed about being able to have guns not the other items. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the inhibition of Hsp90 in vivo cause in degradation of kinase clients, with a curative effect in dependent cancers. Result of this study shows that the Cdc37 binding to protein kinases is itself disturbed by ATP competitive kinase inhibitors (vemurafenib and lapatinib). Polier et al used the commonly mutated BRAF kinase model to perform their investigations. Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a disease with few therapeutic options. Protein kinase C beta (PKCГџ) is involved in important cellular functions. It was highly expressed in the majority of MPM cells. Enzastaurin (LY317615.HCl) is a novel inhibitor of PKC, which has preclinical activity against MPM, and exhibited synergism with cisplatin. PKCГџ inhibition in MPM might be able to reduce the invasiveness of MPM by affecting cytoskeletal function (Faoroa et al., 2008). At least 40 kinases are known to be ... • 43. Effective Crime Management Management of Crime 12 The Management of Crime can only be Effective When the Wider Police Family is Utilized Introduction Crime is a complicated study that police forces have engaged in more in recent decades to determine the best methods for managing its occurrence. Methods of management run the gamut from old fashioned relational policing in which the officer gets to know a certain group of people intimately by walking a prescribed route through neighborhoods, to the much more modern idea of containing crime by using different technological and scientific methods. The main issue with the different modes of crime management is that they are all effective to a certain degree, but it is difficult to determine to what extent. There have been studies conducted to see what is the most effective means of minimizing crime, but the general finding is that it is largely dependent on time and location. No one method has been gauged to be completely successful, so it is difficult to know which one to use. A premise, one that is given away by the title to this paper, is that only by using the wider police family can crime be effectively managed. This does not mean that crime has to be contained using a family hierarchical model, but that every member and department of a police force must be utilized correctly. This may also seem to be a shotgun approach to policing, but it is far from it. A scientific method is employed to make sure that every officer is used in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Second, we will investigate the role of the 84 suffering servant and his rewards in 52:13 53:12. Then we will examine 54:11 17, in which appears the theme of the servants and inheritance. The larger literary block of Isaiah 40 55 is subdivided into two sections, chapters 40 48 and 49 55, according to the distinctive thematic emphasis embodied in a different literary structure. On the one hand, Isaiah 40 48 primarily deals with the vanity of idol worship (40:19, 20; 41:7; 42:17; 44:10, 12, 15, 17), the former and latter things (41:22; 42:9; 43:9, 18; 46:9; 48:3), God s appointed agent Cyrus (41:2 5, 25 29; 42:1 9; 46:11; 48:14 15), and the ... On the other hand, in LIRA3 group, liraglutide was started at 0.6 mg injected subcutaneous once daily and increased up to 3 mg daily. Therefore, the primary outcome was focused on the mean change in anthropometric measures (heights, weight, and waist circumference) of obesity. Besides, the secondary outcomes were based on metabolic and hormonal changes.6 For safety clinical assessment, patients were screened at the beginning and week 4, 8 and 12 during the study; overall results were analyzed after twelve weeks. Similar to a mosaic that uses many different colored glasses to create a beautiful piece of art, people should value and appreciate their differences from others. Instead of being submissive and following American societal norms, cultures should strive to build cultural, political, social, and economic communities that appreciate and emphasize the richness of their own individual cultures and realize that trying to educate racist people is not the best use of our energy. As a result, everyone can come together to create a unified mosaic. Amy Tan s essay titled, Mother Tongue describes the idea that we all speak different languages unconsciously and that we are categorized by the way we speak. Tan describes her life with her mother in America and how her mother s limited English had an influence on her life. For example, Tan s mother once said, Why he don t send me check, already two weeks late. So, mad he lie to me, losing me money (Tan, 365). For Tan, her mother s way of speaking English is an intimate language used only among her family. I believe Americans view this type of language as poor because they cannot appreciate the level of intimacy in it; however, Americans do not realize is that many use this type of intimate language when communicating with babies in gurgles, cooing, and indistinguishable noises.
