Reconstructionist philosophy emphasizes addressing social issues and reforming society to work towards worldwide democracy. It assumes that constant social reconstruction is needed through educational reform. Teachers play a primary role in leading social change by initiating discussions on controversial topics, enabling critical examination of cultural heritage, and designing programs for reform. The curriculum focuses on enabling students to live in a global society, examines present and future social, economic, and political trends and problems, and emphasizes social sciences and research methods.
