This is an empowering benefit, but it also presents risks to companies that work in highly regulated environments. The only way to truly know if your social media efforts are working for you is to measure your results. We cover some easy and more in depth ways to measure your social media success.
Not that long ago, it seemed like quantity was the key focus when it came to social media. It was based on the idea of using social media platforms to blast out to as many people as possible. Now, quality has become all important and, as a result, “influencers” are seen as a valuable and necessary asset. So how do you measure the online “influence” of someone? Is the focus on influencers valid? If so, what is their role and impact, and how should they be approached and embraced?
A new class of online influencers is using blogs, video, social networks and other services to talk about products and companies. Finding and engaging with these people can be a daunting task. Google searches will only get you so far. In addition to blogs, new influencers use photo- and video-sharing sites, Twitter and other channels that don't show up in typical Google searches to spread their messages. This session shows how you can penetrate the invisible Web with a handful of tools and tactics to quickly find sources of influence in your world. We then offer advice on how to engage these opinion leaders as sources of advice, promotion and street-level marketing.
