Essay on Acid in the Stomach
Acid in the human stomach
When people refer to acid they usually see it as a corrosive liquid that can dissolve metals or change
the color of a substance. So they think of acid as a dangerous matter for the body and believe it can
easily dissolve your skin. What I have previously listed are indeed properties of certain acids, such as
Hydrofluoric Acid which can cause irreversible tissue damage if it comes in contact with skin, but not
all acids are this strong. As a matter of fact what a lot of people forget is that we have acid in our
stomachs. The human stomach contains Hydrochloric Acid but when in the stomach, it is referred to
as Gastric Acid.
It may be surprising that our stomachs contain Hydrochloric Acid because it is one of ... Show more

As you have previously seen, Gastric Acid is very important for our digestion since it helps break
down food and protects our bodies from bacteria. So when your body is lacking this acid, it obviously
has some negative effects; this phenomenon is called hypochlorhydria. Insufficient Gastric Acid
causes the following:
Absorption of partially digested food molecules which leads to food sensitivities
Food components that should be digested in the upper intestines might pass through the lower
intestines which can fuel the harmful micro organisms consequently increasing the numbers
Gastrointestinal overgrowth of pathogens
Malabsorption of minerals, vitamins and amino acids
When you have a lack of Hydrochloric Acid, it is very important to treat it because you will
experience the following symptoms:
Stomach aching/pain/discomfort or bloating after mealsAcid in the stomach
Feeling unwell/fatigued right after meals
Burping after meals
Frequent nausea
Nausea after taking vitamins
Food sensitivities
Constipation
Food and water feel as if they sit in your stomach
Feeling overly full easily
Some people actually have a condition named achlorhydria which means that their bodies do not
produce any Stomach Acid. It is genetic or can be acquired and people that have any of the following
conditions are most likely to have low Gastric Acid levels or can easily acquire achlorhydria:
Asthma

Political Viewpoints In College Essay
College can be a very different experience for many people especially when it comes to your political
viewpoints. Your viewpoints in college vary a lot on your social interactions. During your
adolescence, studies show that most of your political viewpoints come from your parents. Children
tend to take in political viewpoints from their parents involuntarily (Ginsberg 148). While the child
grows older and begins contact with peers and social media, their viewpoints can possibly differ from
those of their childhood. College for a young adult is a time to express yourself and learn new things.
When being in contact with many different people and learning what they think about different topics,
you open yourself to a real life social media in which you find people who can agree with you on
topics and even disagree with you. There have been many cases in which a person has changed their
entire political opinion just through their social interactions. We as humans thrive on social interaction
and so the thoughts from our peers play a big role in how we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Being that New York is a fairly democratic state, the viewpoints from the students and professors were

Essay on Jaques Louis David
1. Introduction
Set on a stage of revolution and Enlightenment, the Neo Classical period presents a broad and
interesting topic. Jacques Louis David was the first political painter, and a true revolutionary, but one
cannot disengage his art work from the social and political systems of the period. Therefore, this essay
will present an overview of the social context and systems of Pre Revolution France, Neoclassicism
and how David s work was influenced by it and how his work influenced it. Also important to note are
the art work that influenced Neoclassicism.

The second noted influence on the New Classical period was the excavations of Herculaneum and
Pompeii and the paintings, sculptures and jewellery that were brought forth from these sites. These
mines of wealth motivated an interest in Greco Roman art, which is the mark of Neoclassicism.
Within the recovered works, people saw a physical perfection and moral health which was a dominant
theme of the Enlightenment. New perceptions of society based in the Athesian commonwealth and the
Roman republic was beginning to form, and later these themes became symbols of freedom and
democracy (the basis of Romanticism). The artistic assumption of the time was the idea that, one must
raise beauty over morality and that beauty lies in shape and contour, not in colour, which only assisted
beauty. This principle simplified the Neo Classical forms.

2.2. The Academy
The first academy was started by Leonardo da Vinci in 1498. It was designed as a gathering of people
to discuss art and science. This evolved to the instruction of these subjects by means of an
apprenticeship system; masters teaching students.
Later, the Academy adopted a policy of exclusion to non members, offering only students the
opportunities to be given commissions, exhibitions and prestige. Also, artists could only gain
recognition for their art by the guilds if they had studied at the Academy.

As reported by Shih (2010), in The Facebook Era, more than 750 million people around the world are
on social networking sites, where they seemingly spend more than 20 billion minutes a day. With so
many people spending time on social networking sites, it only seems logical that these sites might be
used as a stage for marketing, sales, employment prospects, and making business contacts, just to
name a few possibilities.
With so many choices for social networking platforms, it is important to know what the social web is
all about, what different sites are out there and how they differ from one another. Chief among the
popular social networking sites are Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Each of these sites is utilized for
different reasons, and to best use them to your advantage in business, you should be aware of the
differences. Facebook, according to Shih (2010) and many of her sources, is the largest social
networking site globally by an order of magnitude, and recently even beat out Google in becoming the
most trafficked site on the Internet. With that said, it should be obvious that there is tremendous
business potential for marketing, advertisement, and sales on sites such as Facebook. Besides
Facebook, LinkedIn is also a very popular site; used by more than 95% of

Data Classification Of Neuro Fuzzy Link Based...
To predict the links in the dataset we have used the Fuzzy Link Based Classification algorithm a
subpart of Neuro Fuzzy Link Based Classification algorithm, which is a combination on the
Feedforward Neural Networks (FFNet) Backpropagation techniques and fuzzy logic. FFNet was
inspired from the neural system the human body. In this chapter we will first explain about the system
design involved in setting up the network followed by explaining the FFNet and Backpropagation
algorithm, explain the reasons for using the algorithm and then discuss about how we worked on our
dataset and the steps involved in obtaining the desired output.
5.1 System Design
From selecting the dataset to be worked on to data classification and link prediction, many steps are
involved in like clustering data, classification of data, data extraction etc. These steps are performed in
a proper order as mentioned in the below figure of System architecture.
Fig 5.1 System Architecture [9]
Initially the dataset must be selected to retrieve the data so that classification can be performed.
In user interface model data is retrieved from the dataset and represented in a readable format. On this
data pattern recognition and analysis can be performed.
In clustering and classification phase dissimilar data is differentiated from similar data. In our project
this step can be omitted because the dataset is already in the form of a CSV file, divided according to
the respective link types.

Baruch Kotter Quotes
1. Key Speech/Thought expressed by main character the conveys the theme Yes, the old game of
deducting ethnicity; in this they were all participants, experts. (Bezmozgis, 8) This quote shows us the
idea of judging people just because of their ethnicities. Everyone is a part of this game being judged
but, also judging. In this book, Baruch Kotler is a Jew from Russia, he is a minority and gets judged
for being different. This relates to the theme, individual vs society because Kotler s beliefs are
different from the general population and therefore he gets judged for that. 2. Key Character Trait that
relates to the theme. Call it curiosity. Call it instinct. And I am a man who has followed his instincts.
(Bezmozgis, 18) Kotler is a 60 year old man with a dark past. He lived his live being curious and
following his instincts but, his curiosity and instincts got him locked up. He was a soviet politician
who actively challenged policies because of his curiosity. Now, he is an Israeli politician who is
disgraced. This relates to the theme because, being curious means you are being different and in this
case, Kotler has different opinions about topics than the general populous, which makes him a
disgrace to society. 3. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Allergen immunotherapy is the only disease modifying treatment available for several common
allergic diseases. Subcutaneous immunotherapy is the best studied form of AIT and is effective for
allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis, allergic asthma, and Hymenoptera venom allergy.
Subcutaneous immunotherapy involves the repeated subcutaneous injection of increasing amounts of
allergen beginning with very small doses of allergen and gradually increasing to higher doses. Another
popular method of Allergen immunotherapy involves sublingual administration in the form of

The Human Body, A Biological Organization Of Physiological...
Introduction The human body, a biological organization of physiological cascades, is surprisingly
fragile but yet highly adaptable to withstand the varying challenges encountered in the lifetime of an
individual. From chronic illnesses to acute and rapidly changing events, the integrated cooperation
between human organ systems can dramatically influence the potential outcomes of a patient. It is
multiple deployments of singular compensatory mechanisms in response to abnormal changes that
provides this infinite flexibility. While this continuous flexibility is illustrated in lifestyle diseases such
as hypertension and diabetes, its role in acute attention demanding events are remarkable. An example

According to the article Print still matters , It demonstrates that students preferred and performed
better when reading on screens. But their actual performance intended to suffer. This is one important
reason why digital text isn t as great as it sounds. Print text has been used for centuries during B.C and
throughout A.D. It was the only type of medium we had, then why are we trying to substitute it with

The Role Of Sympathy In Romanticism
Sympathy is the combination of Latin and Greek words, syn. and pathos which give the meaning of
companion feeling. Here syn. means together and pathos means feeling. It is taken as the awareness,
thoughtful, and response to the distress or need of another human being. This empathic concern is
taken by a change in viewpoint, from a personal perspective to the perspective of another group or
individual who is in need. This transition helps to being responsive to others feelings, emotions, and
positions which lead to an accommodation of their perspective. This response, according to C. Taylor,
is primitive by which he means the immediate and unthinking reactions unexplainable in terms of

He maintains that passions may be termed irrational either when they are founded on the supposition
of the existence of objects which really do not exist or when in exerting any passion in action, we
choose means insufficient for the designed end and deceive ourselves in our judgment of causes and
effects (Frazer, The enlightenment of Sympathy, 2010, p. 42). Hume s explanation of sympathy is that,
the greater degree of similarity between two individuals or their passions, the easier and stronger is the
communication of sentiments between them. Not only the contiguity in space and time but also the
previous ties of blood or affection, can afford a greater sense of closeness to the candidate objects of

from the object of moral evaluation. The sympathetic response of a spectator engaged in moral

Examples Of Competitive Rivalry In Healthcare Industry
Competitive Rivalry
On the service side of the healthcare industry competition is relatively weak because it is not based on
free market system. Government subsidized healthcare coverage eliminates the incentive for lower
prices on medical services. From a consumer standpoint there is not much differentiation between
healthcare providers because of the lack of competition. From a product standpoint there is strong
competition. The industry leaders, CVS, McKession and Unitedhealth Group, each gross over $100
billion dollars a year and rank under 15 in the Fortune 500. These companies are constantly growing,
advancing and competing to discover and patent new drugs and technology. New entrants to the
market would face a significant competitive disadvantage.
Threat of New Entry
From both the service and product perspective the barriers to entry are relatively strong. Becoming a
licensed physician takes years of expensive, rigorous education. Most products in the healthcare
industry are government regulated to protect the health of consumers. The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) are responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the control

Buying Power
Healthcare is a necessity; therefore, everyone is a customer in one way or another. Unfortunately, due
to the lack of competition, service cost and dependence on medical care, buying power within the
industry is very low. There is no ability to substitute medical procedures or treatments, so the customer
has little to no bargaining power. In the product portion of the market there are low cost alternatives to
the OTC brand name drugs, but most drugs prescribed for a specific illness can t be substituted.

Just War Theory, Using The Gulf War
The following essay will present the concept of just war theory, using the Gulf War as a case study in
order to understand the concreteness of the doctrine. The choice of this case is due to the various
issues regarding the application of just war theory to modern conflict, which will be discussed in the
concluding part of the paper.
Just war tradition has its origins in the fourth century AD. The first propagandist of these ideas was St.
Augustine (AD 354 430), who elaborated a just war doctrine, which was later adapted and explicated
by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 74). According to these writers, a war is always judged by following
two criteria, which concern the reasons states have for fighting and the means they adopt. They made
a distinction between jus ad bellum, the justice of war, and jus in bello, justice in war. REF
Jus ad bellum refers to the legitimacy of going to war. Having a just cause and possessing the right
intention are part of the conditions in favour of a just war. It is generally assumed as just cause
defending oneself from an act of aggression, which is believed unjust. However, because of its open
endedness, the term aggression should be defined. It could refer to a physical injury (a violation of
territory), an offense (against national honour), a trade embargo (against economy), or even to a
person s prosperity (violation of social justice). Thus, the general consensus considers as only
sufficient reason for just cause an initiation of physical

Reflective Essay On Religious Literacy
In a world where information can be found at our finger tips, there is still a large deficit in
understanding when it comes to literacy. Although possessing the ability to read and write is valuable,
it is simply not enough. The truth of the matter is that having the ability to read and write is worth
nothing if one does not understand what he or she is reading and writing. As a result of my childhood
experiences, religious literacy is possessing a basic understanding of one s individual religion, and
having the capacity to internalize what certain teachings and beliefs means to them. In a narrative of
my literary experiences, these moments regarding religion shaped my capacity to read, write, and
comprehend. I simply want to share my Catholic faith. Not to convince you or to convert you, but
simply to share what the Catholic traditions and beliefs mean to me.

The New York Times And The Next Immigration Challenge
Reducing the issue of xenophobia, the fear of foreigners or strangers, is not a simple task. Two ways
today s society is attempting to reduce xenophobia is through satirical representations, such as the
animated show Futurama, and through non satirical ways like serious articles in magazines like The
New York Times. Both representations attempt to bring awareness to serious issues faced by
Americans today, but both use completely different methods to get their point across. Dowell Myers
article in the New York Times, The Next Immigration Challenge, observes the assimilation of
Mexican immigrants into the U.S. and the problems faced by these immigrants in the way of skeptical
Americans and uncooperative government policies. He examines the different ways that immigrants
have and continue to contribute to society, and how current government policies hinder more
successful strides in the future. The Futurama episode Decision 3012 follows the presidential election
of the year 3012, as one candidate, Richard Nixon s head, starts a rumor that another candidate was
not born on earth and is an alien. After learning that the candidate s, Senator Chris Travers, middle

the rod side to side and pause 2 seconds at the corners of the weld. there is also the stringer bead

welding you will be doing on the pipe. on of the rarest type used is the 1 g this is where you lay the

Significance
The Battle of San Jacinto resulted in the capture of Santa Anna, which allowed for the signing of the
Treaty of Velasco (Taylor, 1935). It is argued that if Santa Anna had not been captured, he would have
simply left the area and mustered his remaining Mexican troops to defeat Houston s army (Hutton,

Adele Concert Film Review
Adele Concert Film Review
The Performer: On July 28th in the evening at home alone, I watched Adele live at Royal Albert Hall
on YouTube, which can be found following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=DJ7bnkVbI88 t=0s.. Adele was born in 1988 in London, and is a well known British
singer/songwriter. Adele has released three albums in her career: 19, 21, 25 and Adele has thirteen hits
on the billboard top 100 chart as of 2017. Adele started her career in 2006 when a video of hers was
discovered on myspace. An influence on Adele s style of music is Etta James. This performance is
before her last album was released and features more of her past relationships in her music, so this
concert was not about happy party music, it was a deep soulful experience.
The Sound: Adele s music has sounds that come from various genres such as pop, soul, and rhythm
and blues. I really like how Adele can go from one genre to the other with her voice and shows that
she is a really good singer. The instruments that were used in the concert were mostly a piano setup,
strings, with there being two sections for strings, guitars, and lastly there were also drums, but the
drums where not heavily used in many songs. Adele also had to backup singers which added depth to
the songs. In the concert, I watched she did a cover of a country song titled If It Hadn t Been for Love
by the Steeldrivers. Adele had a banjo added to the set, with some more guitars added as well to really

Goals and Strategies of the Civil Rights Movement Essay
African American Civil Rights Movement Throughout the 1960 s, the widespread movement for
African American civil rights had transformed in terms of its goals and strategies. The campaign had
intensified in this decade, characterized by greater demands and more aggressive efforts. Although the
support of the Civil Rights movement was relatively constant, the goals of the movement became
more high reaching and specific, and its strategies became less compromising. African Americans
struggle for equality during the 1960 s was a relentless movement that used change for progress. In
essence, the transformation of the Civil Rights Movement throughout the 1960 s forwarded the
evolution of America into a nation of civil equality and freedom. ... Show more content on

We want to see the cooperative concept applied in business and banking. We want... The excerpt reads
further as a long dissertation of specific goals of the organization, which include black participation in
government and economy, defiance against profiteers of slums, and the overall shift to a socialist
America. In the socialist train of thought, society is invested in the integrity and economic
participation of its people, and, therefore, blacks become almost invaluable to America. Here, each
individual is seen as vital to the nation, because, if not, then the whole foundation of the socialist
philosophy collapses. And so, it is implied in this document that a change for a new system of
government in a new America is needed, which greatly contrasts from simply making people aware of
a perfect world with guaranteed civil rights. Another significant transformation took place in the Civil
Rights Movement in terms of its strategies. In analyzing this facet of the movement, we notice a great
shift from nonviolent demonstration to forward, forceful action. Specifically, at the start of the Civil
Rights Movement, lunch counter sit ins were evident throughout the nation, as were Freedom Riders.

Moreover, this peninsula gave Russia access to the Mediterranean Sea and from there to both the
Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. In order to get this strategic objective, Russia conducted a very
complex operation that shook the whole world and changed the way the international security is
viewed. However, it was not only the capabilities of the Russian Army planners and troops that made
the operation a success. Multiple factors played a crucial role and ultimately facilitated the seizure of
the Crimean Peninsula. Understanding these factors is very important, especially for countries that
Russia considers as being within its interest zone, like Georgia, Moldova, etc. The following

Among these tribes were Mongols and the Byzantines. Golden Horde, the Tatars, settled in Crimea in
the 15th century. The Tatars are considered Crimean natives. Although they later became Turkish
vassals, they remained very powerful and culture oriented. (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 2013,
12). Until the Stalin era, the peninsula had been invaded by other countries, like Russia and Germany
(in World War 1). However, it became part of the USSR in 1921. Same as the other Soviet Republics,
the native population was sent to other parts of the USSR, while native Russians were brought to the
peninsula. The purpose was obvious Russification (a form of cultural assimilation of a nation, making
them pro Russian) of the occupied or annexed territory (Ahsan 2015, 27). While in the Soviet Union,
Crimea became part of the Russian Republic in 1945. Later, it was transferred to Ukraine in 1954 and
remained part of it after the collapse of the Soviet Union. All these historical facts are important
because they show how much different all the countries that conquer, colonized or annexed the
peninsula were. Furthermore, all these countries, especially USSR, were trying to influence and even
displace the population. By the end of WWII, only 25% of the local population were Tatars and in
2001 even worse only 12% of the total population were Tatars. Meanwhile, the percentage of Russians
increased to 59% (Piticar 2014, 439). According to the above demographics, in

The Selfishness Of Edna Priestley s The Vanities
The Selfishness of Edna Pontellier
Though some may see the actions taken by Edna as justified, I feel that she was in no way justified in
her actions. In the realm of the social situation in the story, she acted selfishly and disregarded her
duties as a mother and a wife. She threw away a perfectly fine life for no reasons beyond her own
selfishness, and abandoned her family. However, in terms of the romantic tones of the story, she freed
herself from her perceived bondage and lived the life she wanted to live.
This idea of freedom counteracts the view of Edna as a selfish individual and presents her in a more
positive light. In this view, the author presents Edna as strong minded woman who wants to live the
life that she feels she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Edna s fault. Their relationship has had a rocky history that is far from perfect. Chopin states her
marriage to Léonce Pontellier was purely an accident... He fell in love...and pressed his suit with an
earnestness and an ardor which left nothing to be desired. He pleased her; his absolute devotion
flattered her (18). Edna was not fair to him when she married him without loving him. She grew fond
of her husband (18), but this fondness alone is not a good reason for marriage. One could argue that
Leonce was a domineering, controlling man who viewed Edna as a part of his vast wealth. However,
Léonce simply did not know how to express his love and concern for Edna, or his family, in any way
other than with money. His life can be seen as stressful due to his job as well as his endless worrying
over his money; as such he has little energy to care for his wife and children. He tries as hard as

Ap English Poetry Essay
Moreover, the consistent integration of imagination and historical memory imparts a powerfully
suggestive sense of inevitability to Carter s ethics of change. The envisioned changes, even if
unrealized, are as much a part of a distinctive historical pattern, as is the past which made the present
itself inevitable. And this pervasive sense of inevitability inspires recurrent images and themes of
movement.
Altogether, these early collections reflect a tightly knit dialectic, with its closely integrated poetic
forms, which are to define a good part of Carter s poetry for much of the next fifteen years. The ethos
of change is both political ideal and the creative principle of imagination. The patterns of history are
mirrored in the imaginative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The underlying dialectic is compact, limpid, and consistent. The dialectic statement is tightly
controlled through a disciplined, highly economic use of language and sense of form; and as a result,
the poetic form itself becomes the imaginative microcosm of that moral wholeness and social unity
which the poetry envisions. Given this tightly integrated schema, it becomes clear that poems of
resistance are not simply poems about political resistance: they are acts of resistance. This implies an
aesthetic that has been rather rare in the generally conservative context of Anglophone Caribbean
literature. It was not to be aired in any significant sense, in any Caribbean language area, until the
successful Cuban revolution began to define its own revolutionary aesthetics during the 1960s: the
only valid revolutionary art is that which is committed to, and a part of, the revolution; writing about
the revolution is not enough, the writer must be an active participant in the revolution. Or to phrase
this ideal in Carter s poetic language, the poet must not simply write about resistance, he himself and
his poetry must be directly involved in

Body Dysmorphic Disorder Analysis
The popular conception of anorexia involves glamorous celebrities and supermodels, teen girls and
magazines, and is nothing like the reality of hospitals, hair loss, and, oftentimes, death. Anorexia
nervosa is the deadliest of all psychiatric illnesses and cuts across racial, age, and gender backgrounds.
The image of the white teen girl munching on ice cubes is only part of the picture of a serious,
complex, and very misunderstood disorder. When I was in high school, my best friend Kylie* changed
drastically. Her sense of style shifted and she started wearing brightly colored sweatshirts and hair
extensions. She also got her driver s license before the rest of us and would get lunch off campus,

This notion, however, has been viewed as more antiquated in recent years, and the etiological
perception of the disorder has become a lot more nuanced. An individual s environment and social
status are perhaps more revealing risk factors than race and gender themselves. Social communities
that value thinness, such as career fields like modeling and wrestling, are specific causal factors. Peer
and family influences also contribute a great deal to disordered eating patterns. A mother obsessed
with beauty can enforce a social expectation for thinness even more completely. Changing standards
of beauty, from a Rubenesque Venus to a waifish Twiggy, have also been cited as causal factors. The
idea that society causes anorexia is powerful, but much to simplistic to fully explain the steady
increase in cases of anorexia throughout the 20th

Some theories suggest it is caused by cortical reorganization within the brain after the loss of several
nerve endings. One of the final operations done by Tim Pons and Edward Taub on the infamous Silver
Spring monkeys revealed that monkeys who were depraved of sensory input from their arms through
deafferentation still had active brain maps for those arms, which were actually processing input from
the face. This is similar to another study done by V.S. Ramachandran of an amputee using the
psuedonym Tom Sorenson, whom lost his arm below the elbow and complained of an itch in his
missing limb. When stimulating certain parts of Sorenson s face, Sorenson reported he could feel the
sensation on his limb and the itch was successfully scratched. An MEG confirmed that Tom s hand
and face map were both receiving input from the stimuli, showing the near by maps had blurred

the brain scrambling to reorganize itself, there are some that contest it and have other theories in

In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for
success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new
emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this
framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons
for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal
trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready
to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire
for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys
nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers
(Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry
required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small
firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks
developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true
for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in
his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a

Stereotypes Of Single Mothers
There is a stigma associated with women that are supported by government aid, especially single

children that they cannot support, just for a bigger welfare check. They often assume that these women
do not work and just live off government handouts. I know of mothers that fit this stereotype; adults
still living in their parents houses, rent free, with several children from multiple fathers. The women I

Argumentative Essay On The Doomsday Clock
The Doomsday clock is a man made clock created by a scientist by the name of Martyl Langsdarf who
worked in the Bulletin of Atomic scientists. The clock was made initially created by concerned
scientists on the nuclear bomb and its implications on society. There were several different ideas
proposed to measure how close mankind was to its destruction, but the clock was chosen as the most
suitable one. [11]
The idea which prevailed was that nuclear weapons would bring about the destruction of human race
sooner or later and the clock was a measure of how close mankind was to its destruction. The clock
indicated that the closer the time is to midnight. the nearer mankind is to its destruction. The minute
hand moves forward and backward depending on the social and political circumstances [12]. The

The neo nationalistic approach has led to tensions and intolerance rise amongst countries. Political
point scoring amongst some democratic leaders of nuclear capable countries consists of threats of
nuclear warfare with the hostile countries. In all the events, diplomacy has taken a back seat and
threats of nuclear attack is replied with a similar threat instead of back door diplomacy on issues [18].
The dependency of the clock in recent times is not connected to global changes but rather statements
and gestures of individual leaders. Countless efforts have been taken by the Bulletin of Atomic
Scientists to help reduce the global threats for example efforts of proposing to opt for the Iran Nuclear
deal in order to reduce pollution or the efforts to stop North Korea in testing the nuclear missiles.

Emancipation Of The Serfs
The emancipation of the serfs by Alexander II in 1861 was the inevitable result of a rising tide of
liberalism in Russia, supported by the realisation that Russia s economic needs were incompatible
with the system, and driven by the fear that that without reform the state itself could be shattered by
revolution. Russia s defeat in the Crimean war was also a major influencing factor as Defeat in the
Crimean war laid bare Russia s weakness, so well conceived reforms were set in train and permitted
the birth of politics... Russian tsars had learned little during the century: at its end, they were still
claiming to be absolute rulers (Russia). Alexander II came into power in 1855, as the successor of
Nicholas I. He started his reign in a difficult position, as the defeat of the Crimean war in 1854 cast a
shadow over the beginning of his reign. The peace treaty of Paris finally drew a conclusion to the war
in 1856, Russia ultimately being defeated by Britain and France, leaving the Russian state feeling

In the words of Max Weber, This lecture, which I give at your request, will necessarily disappoint you

hypothesis in the case of Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg, more
commonly known as Paul von Hindenburg. This general hypothesis on his character may paint him as
a villain in the eyes of history, however, I will argue here that he was forced into a situation of
unfortunate circumstances. His case consists of many political and military ups and downs and he is
most famously known for appointing Adolf Hitler to the position of chancellor and therefore plunging
the Nazi party into power. This one choice by Hindenburg was the first domino to fall in the sequence

existing political climate in which Hindenburg was elected to was already on the way to radicalism.
Furthermore, I will also use historical evidence to help prove that his decisions did help to shape
modern Germany. Each choice a leader makes has the potential to shape a world for years to come.
Throughout history we see time and time again one pivotal choice that had a butterfly effect and
created a massive change in the way history occurred. I am arguing that Paul von Hindenburg s
decision to promote Hitler to this position of power, even if reluctantly, was one that has had a major
impact on history as we now know

The Survival Of Man Depends On The Early Construction Of...
Introduction The survival of man depends on the early construction of an ultraintelligent machine
(Good, 1965). As early as the 1960s renowned scientists such as Good and Neumann theorized of an
intelligence explosion, now known as the technology singularity, resulting from intelligent machines
designing their next generation without human intervention. This idea of artificial intelligence (AI) has
grown immensely and is a common topic amongst scholars, scientists, and theorists in the mathematic
and scientific world. The key idea underlying the impending Singularity is that the pace of change of
our human created technology is accelerating and its powers are expanding at an exponential pace.
Exponential growth is deceptive. It starts out almost imperceptibly and then explodes with unexpected
fury unexpected, that is, if one does not take care to follow its trajectory (Kurzweil, 8, 2005). Ray
Kurzweil a scientist, inventor, author, and current director of engineering at Google is the leading
theorist of the Singularity. So what is the singularity you ask? Most simply put Kurzweil defines it as,
a future period during which the pace of technological change will be so rapid, its impact so deep, that
human life will be irreversibly transformed (Kurzweil, 2005, 7). Currently we are in the early stages of
the transition. The acceleration of the paradigm shift (the rate at which we change fundamental
technical approached) as well as the exponential growth of

The Use of Distortion as a Literary Device in George...
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an excellent example of distortion as a literary device. The story is
set up as a fable using a third person objective viewpoint and personification of animals to represent
historical figures and stereotypes. Distortion can also be found in much of the symbolism throughout
the novel. Similar to a fable, Animal Farm makes use of personification. In the story, farm animals are
used to represent different classes of people, from the average working man to government officials
and police or military personnel. This element of the novel goes deeper, when the pigs on the farm
begin to resemble historical figures such as Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky, of Russia. Through
distortion of character, Orwell brings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings the reader to the level of the working class animals and instills a sense of uncertainty and
disillusionment that is felt by most of the characters in the story. In the beginning, the animals are
excited by Major s talk of rebellion against Mr. Jones and through Orwell s objective point of view,
the same feeling of insurrection is passed on to the audience. As the pigs weave an intricate web of
lies and scandal, the reader gets the sense that not all is well in the same way the animals do. The
difference between the animals and ourselves lies in intelligence. The author deliberately makes the
characters dumber than the average person, allowing us to see through the deception of the pigs,
without the use of a third person omniscient viewpoint. Symbolically, Animal Farm itself is supposed
to represent Russia and the Soviet Union under Communist control. The farm in today s world, being
a small, self sustaining entity may relate to current conditions in North Korea. It seems that Kim Jong
il, like the pigs, is much more equal than his subjects. Kim and Napoleon seem to share the paranoia
of being attacked by more powerful rivals, and both it seems, have a desire to keep their respective
nations in the dark. Perhaps less specifically, the farm could represent human society as a whole. As
mentioned earlier, the characters display an entire spectrum of human classes and stereotypical
personalities.

The Moonstone Religion
The Moonstone written by Wilkie Collins is a superb read. The titular object is the main focus of the
novel. The Moonstone s whereabouts are unknown for much of the novel. Several detectives including
Superintendent Seagrave and Sergeant Cuff try to solve the case. While there are differences between
the First Narrative of the First Period by Gabriel Betteredge and the First Narrative of the Second
Period written by Drusilla Clack, I think many of the elements remain the same. Christianity is a
theme throughout the book. The inferiority of women is a sexist idea in both narratives as well.
Finally, both narrators have genuine concern for Rachel. Christianity is so important in this book as a
whole because the narrators leading up to page 263 constantly bring up things from that religion. Miss
Clack sort of rides a high horse too, as she tries to encourage others to accept Christianity. She has a
sense of Christian duty and an idea of what is worthy of a Christian Englishwoman (239, 241). Her
devotion even goes to the point that Rachel interprets something Miss Clack said as suggesting that
Rachel s mother went to hell (261 262). While some of her ideas may be rooted in reality, some of her
other ways of thinking are arguably delusional. For instance, she calls herself a Christian persecuted

modern standpoint. The Turing test was an experiment that evaluated a machine s ability to display
human like intelligent behavior and consisted of two phases. In the first, an interrogator and two other
individuals were placed in separate rooms and were only able to communicate with each other through
the use of remote terminals. The interrogator would then determine which individual was male or
female based on the answers they provided from the questions the interrogator would ask. In the
second phase, the experiment was conducted in the same manner as the first phase ... Show more

The major reason that the field of advanced neural networks was reborn in the 1980s was because the
breakthrough in technology allowed researchers with the ability experiment new theories and
methodologies on artificial neural networks at a critical level. Others included more advanced
contributions to AI theory and design (adaptive resonance theory, the back propagation learning
algorithm) and the advancements of reinforcement learning in the field of neuroscience. One could
argue that we are not in an AI winter. Current topics are deep learning (neural networks) and
augmented reality. Pick one of the two and search the internet for three different

Paul Pierce Biography
With Paul Pierce retiring his jersey and putting it in the celtics rafters, I would like to explain who
exactly was Paul Pierce.
Paul Anthony Pierce was born on October 13, 1977 and lived in Oakland, California. There he was
always able to fall into a life of crime, but he did not choose to. In the video called Paul Pierce:
Stabbed 11 Times explained that. Born in Oakland and growing up in Inglewood, California, both
extremely rough areas, Pierce was always surrounded by gangs. A life of crime was always right there
in his reach but he resisted. He was too good for that, he knew he wanted to do bigger things. By him
not wanting to live a life of crime he put in work to become a great basketball player.
In the video it also stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2008 Paul won the championship for the celtics with Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. But before
Pierce won a championship he was faced with a horrible incident where he was stabbed 11 times! In
the video it said Watching Paul interact with other people that night, three guys began to take offense
with Paul s actions. Later in the video it said One of them, a man by the name Anthony Hurston
decided to escalate the situation, if you could even call it a situation because Paul was not fighting
with them. According to different reports Hurston either punched Paul in the back of the head or hit
him in the back of the head with a bottle. Whatever the case, Pierce ended up falling to the ground
after a complete cheap shot. From there, witnesses said two other men William Ragland and Trevor
Watson joined in and began to attack Pierce while the was helpless on the ground. This was serious, as
Ragland pulled out a knife and stabbed Paul eleven times. One stab going seven inches deep. These
stabs would include the back, neck, and face. And when it was all over, Paul was left lying in a pool of
his own blood. One of Paul friends that was in the night club with him threw him into his car and
brought him to the hospital. While being at the hospital, Pierce was very concerned with himself not
surviving this incident and was afraid of the fact that death may be near. In the video, it stated that

Glasspro, Inc. Outline The Differences
Life is riddled with choices: paper or plastic, chocolate or vanilla, Android or iOS. When it comes to
windshield replacement, however, deciding between OEM and aftermarket glass can be a bit more
involved. So which option is right for you? Below, the Cincinnati, OH auto glass experts at GlassPro,
Inc. outline the differences.
OEM
An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) windshield is often fabricated by the original windshield
manufacturer and will be nearly identical to the one that rolled off the assembly line. Though, because
car manufacturers often switch glass companies mid run, there is a chance that your OEM windshield
will be made by a different glass company.
Regardless, an OEM windshield will be manufactured according to specific

Great Society Research Paper
The early 1960 s was a time for great change for the United States as John F. Kennedy was
Assassinated America was in despair. Lyndon B. Johnsons Great Society programs alleviated many
Americans in the from despair and poverty ranks, with the programs such as federal aid to college
students, social security payments to older Americans, Civil Rights Act of 1965, and improving the
quality of life. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act sent out federal funds to the least
affluent school districts and federal funds for college students. The federal aid for college students

For which I am so grateful that the Secondary Education Act was passed for the reason that without it,
education after high school would not be reachable in my grasps as it is today. The social security act
of 1965 created two programs which allowed medical coverage to people over 65 and poor families.
The medical coverage helped poor families receive the medicine and vaccinations needed to endure
the harsh seasons and lives, with now access to medicine and doctor visits their life expectancy had
risen. Since families were able to be healthy kids were able to go to school and participate and
graduate and move on to college and have a brighter future. The Great Society also improved the
quality of life with the growing public awareness of the air pollution prompted the Clean Air Act of
1963 and The Clean Water Act of 1966, which set federal guidelines for reducing smog preserving

The Power Of Briseis And Agamemnon s Fate
The ironic dynamic that Briseis, having no power to control her fate, by simply existing manages to be
the first catalyst for Achilles fate contrasts the multitude of times Rebekah accomplishes to act on her
own and create events within Genesis. This contrast ultimately exists because Briseis and Rebekah
have different feelings of safety and security which allows or prevents them from feeling free to act on
their desires. The instance of Briseis not being able to control her fate is within the first book of the
poem. Agamemnon, angry that he must give up his geras for the good of the army, fights with
Achilles, yelling I m coming to your hut and taking Briseis, / Your own beautiful prize, so that you
will see just how much / Stronger I am than you (Il. 1.194 196). Agamemnon abuses his power as the
most powerful king in Greece over a matter of pride and uses it against one of the greatest warriors in
the army, which makes Agamemnon lose respect of his men. Not one man asks Briseis if she will
accept this change as all the men view her as an object for being Achilles geras. How Briseis feels
about being passed about is made very clear when the heralds went to her And brought Briseis, cheeks
flushed, out of the tent / And gave her to the heralds, who led her away. / She went unwillingly (Il.
1.359 361). Forcing Achilles to give up Briseis also means that Agamemnon takes Achilles honor
which he seeks retribution for in a public declaration that When every last Greek

American Literature 11
14 September 2015
A quote from Anatole Broyard, It is one of the paradoxes of American Literature that our writers are
forever looking back with love and nostalgia at the lives they couldn t wait to leave. People reminisce
of some of the worst moments in American history with a dampening eye, glossing over all the grit.
Out of the populus, the ones who actively present Broyard s quote as fact are content creators. This
trope appears many times in Literature and even other forms of entertainment such as movies,
television shows, and certain video games. Three examples of Broyard s statement show up in the
works: The Perfect Storm, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Glass ... Show more content

Once the bites had picked up and the ship was full, the Halloween Storm had begun forming. They
pushed on into the nor easter turned hurricane and were never heard from again. We looked back at
these men and their time with lightheartedness, like a quick glimpse of a photo, not really thinking
about them or the period itself.
Jumping to the year 1937 at the end of the Great Depression, we witness the tale of a single mother,
Amanda her son, Tom, and daughter, Laura. A mother who s trying to push her daughter into marriage
and shoving her son to work while also trying to relive her glory days, a rinse repeat story in those
days. You were either male and slaved in factories for pay like Tom or female and raised to be a
housewife to marry a wealthy man. Tom s an aspiring poet who works in a warehouse while his sister
isolates herself because of her shyness and bad leg, and their mother is woman looking for wealth
whether her or her daughter acquires it. Amanda sends her son out to find a man for Laura and he
brings back Jim O Connor. Lo and behold, Jim apparently had been Laura s high school crush. A
dinner ensues with the family, ending with an awkward exchange between Jim and Laura where they
kiss and it is revealed that Jim has a fiancée. Jim leaves and Amada blames Tom, who eventually loses
his job and skips town on them. Another great time period where life for most wasn t well. Yet authors
try to shed light on it wherever possible.

Painting is a self discovery, every artist paints what he is, (Pollock). Jackson Pollock was born on
January 28th, 1912 in Cody, Wyoming, and died on August 11th, 1956 a little past ten o clock in a car
crash at forty four years old. When Pollock was younger, his father had left him, and his older brother
Charles became like a father to him. He was really close to his brother, so when he started taking art
classes, Pollock joined him. After a while Pollock and his art teacher became close, and he started to
babysit for his teacher s family. They became the family that he never had. A little later in life, Pollock
stopped painting for a long period of time, mostly because of depression and alcohol. Then when one

  • 2. Essay on Acid in the Stomach Acid in the human stomach When people refer to acid they usually see it as a corrosive liquid that can dissolve metals or change the color of a substance. So they think of acid as a dangerous matter for the body and believe it can easily dissolve your skin. What I have previously listed are indeed properties of certain acids, such as Hydrofluoric Acid which can cause irreversible tissue damage if it comes in contact with skin, but not all acids are this strong. As a matter of fact what a lot of people forget is that we have acid in our stomachs. The human stomach contains Hydrochloric Acid but when in the stomach, it is referred to as Gastric Acid. It may be surprising that our stomachs contain Hydrochloric Acid because it is one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So when your body is lacking this acid, it obviously has some negative effects; this phenomenon is called hypochlorhydria. Insufficient Gastric Acid causes the following: Absorption of partially digested food molecules which leads to food sensitivities Food components that should be digested in the upper intestines might pass through the lower intestines which can fuel the harmful micro organisms consequently increasing the numbers Gastrointestinal overgrowth of pathogens Malabsorption of minerals, vitamins and amino acids When you have a lack of Hydrochloric Acid, it is very important to treat it because you will experience the following symptoms: Stomach aching/pain/discomfort or bloating after mealsAcid in the stomach Feeling unwell/fatigued right after meals Burping after meals Frequent nausea Nausea after taking vitamins Food sensitivities Constipation Food and water feel as if they sit in your stomach Feeling overly full easily Some people actually have a condition named achlorhydria which means that their bodies do not produce any Stomach Acid. Your viewpoints in college vary a lot on your social interactions. During your adolescence, studies show that most of your political viewpoints come from your parents. Children tend to take in political viewpoints from their parents involuntarily (Ginsberg 148). While the child grows older and begins contact with peers and social media, their viewpoints can possibly differ from those of their childhood. College for a young adult is a time to express yourself and learn new things. When being in contact with many different people and learning what they think about different topics, you open yourself to a real life social media in which you find people who can agree with you on topics and even disagree with you. (Mettais: 152 156) The second noted influence on the New Classical period was the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii and the paintings, sculptures and jewellery that were brought forth from these sites. These mines of wealth motivated an interest in Greco Roman art, which is the mark of Neoclassicism. Within the recovered works, people saw a physical perfection and moral health which was a dominant theme of the Enlightenment. New perceptions of society based in the Athesian commonwealth and the Roman republic was beginning to form, and later these themes became symbols of freedom and democracy (the basis of Romanticism). The artistic assumption of the time was the idea that, one must raise beauty over morality and that beauty lies in shape and contour, not in colour, which only assisted beauty. This principle simplified the Neo Classical forms. (Praz: 70, 71) 2.2. The Academy The first academy was started by Leonardo da Vinci in 1498. It was designed as a gathering of people to discuss art and science. This evolved to the instruction of these subjects by means of an apprenticeship system; masters teaching students. Later, the Academy adopted a policy of exclusion to non members, offering only students the opportunities to be given commissions, exhibitions and prestige. Also, artists could only gain recognition for their art by the guilds if they had studied at the Academy. During the seventeenth century, the French

To predict the links in the dataset we have used the Fuzzy Link Based Classification algorithm a subpart of Neuro Fuzzy Link Based Classification algorithm, which is a combination on the Feedforward Neural Networks (FFNet) Backpropagation techniques and fuzzy logic. FFNet was inspired from the neural system the human body. In this chapter we will first explain about the system design involved in setting up the network followed by explaining the FFNet and Backpropagation algorithm, explain the reasons for using the algorithm and then discuss about how we worked on our dataset and the steps involved in obtaining the desired output. 5.1 System Design From selecting the dataset to be worked on to data classification and link prediction, many steps are involved in like clustering data, classification of data, data extraction etc. These steps are performed in a proper order as mentioned in the below figure of System architecture. Fig 5.1 System Architecture [9] Initially the dataset must be selected to retrieve the data so that classification can be performed. In user interface model data is retrieved from the dataset and represented in a readable format. On this data pattern recognition and analysis can be performed. • 19. Just War Theory, Using The Gulf War The following essay will present the concept of just war theory, using the Gulf War as a case study in order to understand the concreteness of the doctrine. The choice of this case is due to the various issues regarding the application of just war theory to modern conflict, which will be discussed in the concluding part of the paper. Just war tradition has its origins in the fourth century AD. The first propagandist of these ideas was St. Augustine (AD 354 430), who elaborated a just war doctrine, which was later adapted and explicated by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 74). According to these writers, a war is always judged by following two criteria, which concern the reasons states have for fighting and the means they adopt. They made a distinction between jus ad bellum, the justice of war, and jus in bello, justice in war. REF Jus ad bellum refers to the legitimacy of going to war. Having a just cause and possessing the right intention are part of the conditions in favour of a just war. It is generally assumed as just cause defending oneself from an act of aggression, which is believed unjust. However, because of its open endedness, the term aggression should be defined. It could refer to a physical injury (a violation of territory), an offense (against national honour), a trade embargo (against economy), or even to a person s prosperity (violation of social justice). Thus, the general consensus considers as only sufficient reason for just cause an initiation of physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Reflective Essay On Religious Literacy In a world where information can be found at our finger tips, there is still a large deficit in understanding when it comes to literacy. Although possessing the ability to read and write is valuable, it is simply not enough. The truth of the matter is that having the ability to read and write is worth nothing if one does not understand what he or she is reading and writing. As a result of my childhood experiences, religious literacy is possessing a basic understanding of one s individual religion, and having the capacity to internalize what certain teachings and beliefs means to them. In a narrative of my literary experiences, these moments regarding religion shaped my capacity to read, write, and comprehend. I simply want to share my Catholic faith. Not to convince you or to convert you, but simply to share what the Catholic traditions and beliefs mean to me. Sitting in a classroom filled with several maps of the world, vast spines of colorful books, and watching the clock hit the next hour, there is nothing more that a seven year old would rather do than be stuck sitting in a desk for eight hours of the day. Looking back to when I was young and learning about the history and background of the church, I was illiterate. • 22. The New York Times And The Next Immigration Challenge Reducing the issue of xenophobia, the fear of foreigners or strangers, is not a simple task. Two ways today s society is attempting to reduce xenophobia is through satirical representations, such as the animated show Futurama, and through non satirical ways like serious articles in magazines like The New York Times. Both representations attempt to bring awareness to serious issues faced by Americans today, but both use completely different methods to get their point across. Dowell Myers article in the New York Times, The Next Immigration Challenge, observes the assimilation of Mexican immigrants into the U.S. and the problems faced by these immigrants in the way of skeptical Americans and uncooperative government policies. He examines the different ways that immigrants have and continue to contribute to society, and how current government policies hinder more successful strides in the future. The Futurama episode Decision 3012 follows the presidential election of the year 3012, as one candidate, Richard Nixon s head, starts a rumor that another candidate was not born on earth and is an alien. After learning that the candidate s, Senator Chris Travers, middle name sounds foreign, voters become outraged and demand to see his Earth certificate to prove he isn t an alien. This performance is before her last album was released and features more of her past relationships in her music, so this concert was not about happy party music, it was a deep soulful experience. The Sound: Adele s music has sounds that come from various genres such as pop, soul, and rhythm and blues. I really like how Adele can go from one genre to the other with her voice and shows that she is a really good singer. The instruments that were used in the concert were mostly a piano setup, strings, with there being two sections for strings, guitars, and lastly there were also drums, but the drums where not heavily used in many songs. Adele also had to backup singers which added depth to the songs. In the concert, I watched she did a cover of a country song titled If It Hadn t Been for Love by the Steeldrivers. Here, each individual is seen as vital to the nation, because, if not, then the whole foundation of the socialist philosophy collapses. And so, it is implied in this document that a change for a new system of government in a new America is needed, which greatly contrasts from simply making people aware of a perfect world with guaranteed civil rights. Another significant transformation took place in the Civil Rights Movement in terms of its strategies. Until the Stalin era, the peninsula had been invaded by other countries, like Russia and Germany (in World War 1). However, it became part of the USSR in 1921. Same as the other Soviet Republics, the native population was sent to other parts of the USSR, while native Russians were brought to the peninsula. She threw away a perfectly fine life for no reasons beyond her own selfishness, and abandoned her family. However, in terms of the romantic tones of the story, she freed herself from her perceived bondage and lived the life she wanted to live. The envisioned changes, even if unrealized, are as much a part of a distinctive historical pattern, as is the past which made the present itself inevitable. And this pervasive sense of inevitability inspires recurrent images and themes of movement. Altogether, these early collections reflect a tightly knit dialectic, with its closely integrated poetic forms, which are to define a good part of Carter s poetry for much of the next fifteen years. The underlying dialectic is compact, limpid, and consistent. The dialectic statement is tightly controlled through a disciplined, highly economic use of language and sense of form; and as a result, the poetic form itself becomes the imaginative microcosm of that moral wholeness and social unity which the poetry envisions. Given this tightly integrated schema, it becomes clear that poems of resistance are not simply poems about political resistance: they are acts of resistance. This implies an aesthetic that has been rather rare in the generally conservative context of Anglophone Caribbean literature. It was not to be aired in any significant sense, in any Caribbean language area, until the successful Cuban revolution began to define its own revolutionary aesthetics during the 1960s: the only valid revolutionary art is that which is committed to, and a part of, the revolution; writing about the revolution is not enough, the writer must be an active participant in the revolution. This shows the connection between an awareness of new emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers (Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). As early as the 1960s renowned scientists such as Good and Neumann theorized of an intelligence explosion, now known as the technology singularity, resulting from intelligent machines designing their next generation without human intervention. This idea of artificial intelligence (AI) has grown immensely and is a common topic amongst scholars, scientists, and theorists in the mathematic and scientific world. The key idea underlying the impending Singularity is that the pace of change of our human created technology is accelerating and its powers are expanding at an exponential pace. Exponential growth is deceptive. It starts out almost imperceptibly and then explodes with unexpected fury unexpected, that is, if one does not take care to follow its trajectory (Kurzweil, 8, 2005). Symbolically, Animal Farm itself is supposed to represent Russia and the Soviet Union under Communist control. The farm in today s world, being a small, self sustaining entity may relate to current conditions in North Korea. It seems that Kim Jong il, like the pigs, is much more equal than his subjects. Kim and Napoleon seem to share the paranoia of being attacked by more powerful rivals, and both it seems, have a desire to keep their respective nations in the dark. Perhaps less specifically, the farm could represent human society as a whole. As mentioned earlier, the characters display an entire spectrum of human classes and stereotypical personalities. • 41. The Moonstone Religion The Moonstone written by Wilkie Collins is a superb read. The titular object is the main focus of the novel. The Moonstone s whereabouts are unknown for much of the novel. Several detectives including Superintendent Seagrave and Sergeant Cuff try to solve the case. While there are differences between the First Narrative of the First Period by Gabriel Betteredge and the First Narrative of the Second Period written by Drusilla Clack, I think many of the elements remain the same. Christianity is a theme throughout the book. The inferiority of women is a sexist idea in both narratives as well. Finally, both narrators have genuine concern for Rachel. Christianity is so important in this book as a whole because the narrators leading up to page 263 constantly bring up things from that religion. Miss Clack sort of rides a high horse too, as she tries to encourage others to accept Christianity. She has a sense of Christian duty and an idea of what is worthy of a Christian Englishwoman (239, 241). Her devotion even goes to the point that Rachel interprets something Miss Clack said as suggesting that Rachel s mother went to hell (261 262). While some of her ideas may be rooted in reality, some of her other ways of thinking are arguably delusional. For instance, she calls herself a Christian persecuted by the world (263). Not only does she feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is shown when Betteredge flat out narrates that he regards any other opinion of Rachel other than that of Rachel s mother with a lofty contempt (177). He also believes in Rachel s innocence and tries to defend her from Sergeant Cuff s scrutiny (177, 178). As for Miss Clack, she clearly says to Rachel when she is getting ready to move in with Mr. Bruff that I can t part with you! (261). She tries to get Rachel to live with her, even resorting to bringing up Christianity and hinting to Rachel that Rachel s mother may not have went to heaven (261, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intelligence is defined as the ability to acquire, understand, and apply knowledge and skills. It is also defined as having the ability to think and understand knowledge instead of performing actions that are based on instinct. The intelligent behavior of a machine is characterized as having the ability to achieve and perform the cognitive abilities and tasks similar to that of a human. 1.2 Describe the Turing test for artificial intelligence and justify its validity from a modern standpoint. The Turing test was an experiment that evaluated a machine s ability to display human like intelligent behavior and consisted of two phases. In the first, an interrogator and two other individuals were placed in separate rooms and were only able to communicate with each other through the use of remote terminals. The interrogator would then determine which individual was male or female based on the answers they provided from the questions the interrogator would ask. • 47. The Power Of Briseis And Agamemnon s Fate The ironic dynamic that Briseis, having no power to control her fate, by simply existing manages to be the first catalyst for Achilles fate contrasts the multitude of times Rebekah accomplishes to act on her own and create events within Genesis. This contrast ultimately exists because Briseis and Rebekah have different feelings of safety and security which allows or prevents them from feeling free to act on their desires. The instance of Briseis not being able to control her fate is within the first book of the poem. Agamemnon, angry that he must give up his geras for the good of the army, fights with Achilles, yelling I m coming to your hut and taking Briseis, / Your own beautiful prize, so that you will see just how much / Stronger I am than you (Il. 1.194 196). Agamemnon abuses his power as the most powerful king in Greece over a matter of pride and uses it against one of the greatest warriors in the army, which makes Agamemnon lose respect of his men. Not one man asks Briseis if she will accept this change as all the men view her as an object for being Achilles geras. How Briseis feels about being passed about is made very clear when the heralds went to her And brought Briseis, cheeks flushed, out of the tent / And gave her to the heralds, who led her away. / She went unwillingly (Il. 1.359 361). Forcing Achilles to give up Briseis also means that Agamemnon takes Achilles honor which he seeks retribution for in a public declaration that When every last Greek ... Michael Azzolino Mrs. Pledger American Literature 11 14 September 2015 A quote from Anatole Broyard, It is one of the paradoxes of American Literature that our writers are forever looking back with love and nostalgia at the lives they couldn t wait to leave. People reminisce of some of the worst moments in American history with a dampening eye, glossing over all the grit. Out of the populus, the ones who actively present Broyard s quote as fact are content creators. This trope appears many times in Literature and even other forms of entertainment such as movies, television shows, and certain video games.
