How Did The Polynesians Develop Their Culture
Polynesian societies and cultures have developed by living in a place hard to survive for centuries.
Throughout these years the Polynesians have developed into a group of people with a strong sense of
community. Many things have shaped the way the Polynesians developed. The country of origin for
the Polynesians heavily influenced their own traditions and culture. When the Polynesians first settled
in Polynesia their traditions most likely would have been the same as those of their country of origin.
Eventually these customs evolved into different rituals, unique to the Polynesians. Some traditions in
Polynesia include the art of tattooing and tracking their genealogies. When the Europeans first came to
Polynesia, they too influenced the way Polynesia developed. The Polynesians culture and traditions
were discouraged and it was many years before the Polynesians could safely go back to their old way
of living. Due to these influences, Polynesia became the tribal community that it is today.

The Europeans introduced policies of assimilation. These policies banned Polynesian languages,
cultural traditions and religious beliefs. The policies didn t work as they deprived the Polynesians of
their identity, the Polynesians objected the policies. A well known revolt is when the boat named the
Rainbow Warrior protested and was attacked by the French at Auckland Harbour, New Zealand in
1985. The Europeans also killed thousands of Polynesians; some died by the diseases that were
brought over from Europe and others died from when the Europeans enforced nuclear testing on their
islands. The Polynesians were not evacuated during the nuclear tests and many suffered from radiation
exposure. European settlement greatly hindered the progress of Polynesian society. Cultural
advancement only started again once the Europeans allowed the Polynesians to follow their own
beliefs and way of

Blue Whales Research Paper
The Balaenoptera musculus, also known as the Blue Whale, is the largest animal in the world (Twister
1). These whales have been endangered since the eighteenth and nineteen hundreds and have been
here as long as the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. They are members of the group of whales known as
rorquals and are found in all the world s oceans. They live on the upper layers of the open sea and are
mostly found along the edges of the continental shelves (Zimmerman 1). Their habitat consists of
polar and subtropical waters. Their lifestyle is diurnal and their group behavior is solitary (A Z). These
mammals may be extraordinary, but they are in vulnerable positions because of hunting, pollution, etc.

three years. They remain pregnant for about one year before giving birth. When born, the blue whale
calf is about twenty three feet long and weighs five thousand to six thousand pounds A nursing blue
whale mother produces over fifty gallons of milk a day. At six months of age, they are an average
length of over fifty two feet, and the calf is then disengaged from his or her mother (Marine Mammal

Quinto Case Summary
How does the AAER describe Quinto s failure to act with due professional care and failure to maintain
an attitude of appropriate professional skepticism. Sections 14 and 15 of the release address this
specifically. The evidence that Quinto was convinced by to arrive at an unqualified opinion was far
from sufficient, as there was a great amount of evidence that all was not right at Soyo. Due
professional care demanded that his team dig deeper and perform analytical procedures to follow up
on all the warning signs they came across during the audit. The Vasquez team also failed to adequately
document their work and their findings. Quinto, and Vasquez as an audit team, did not follow up on
the violations of the debt covenants, ignored the improper classification of those debts, ignored the

Quinto was denied the ability to practice as a public accountant for one year, and would have to seek
reinstatement before he was allowed to practice again. Do these sanctions seem appropriate? These
sanctions do seem appropriate. It is unclear from the details of the release what the defendant s
motives were in his negligence. If he was simply ignorant or lazy, then the sanction seems fair, and
hopefully served as future motivation for Federico to take his work seriously. However, if the
oversights and lack of documentation were done to cover up shoddy work in order to receive some
kind of remuneration from Soyo, then Quinto probably deserved more punishment than he received.
The accounting profession relies on public trust, as does the financial market as a whole. Many people
count on the work of auditors and accountants to guide investment decisions. To undermine that trust
with a malicious intent to make oneself richer should probably result in a lifetime removal from the
profession. Also, provide a summary of a more recent (occurring after 2012) enforcement release that

Animal Abuse In Elizabethan England
In the Elizabethan Era, sports and games were violent, and dangerous. The Elizabethan Era took place
in Elizabethan England. The game played could cause severe injury, and sometimes even death.
Games played caused severe injuries that could keep people out of work. Popular forms of
entertainment included Stake Games, Animal Games, and Sports. Many of the games played in
Elizabethan England would not be accepted in modern day America, such as stake games, animal
games, and sports. One game that was played was called Penny Prick. This was a game in which
people would place a peg in the ground and throw knives at it. The objective was to knock a penny off
the peg, or get the knife closest to the peg (Forgeng 195). People would get hurt or die ... Show more

The stake games that they played are not the same as today. They would use dangerous items such as
knives and stones to closest to a stake. People would get injured from this game because people would
throw the objects hard instead of for the actual purpose. The animal games that were played were
animal abuse. Games such as Bear Baiting would hurt not only the bear, but dogs. Bear Whipping hurt
humans as well. People would watch animals and people get hurt or die as a form of entertainment.
Sports were played different than how they are in modern day. Injuries were common. Games like
soccer and wrestling that are played today, were not played the same way. Soccer had no rules. Players
would get injured frequently. Wrestling had no rules, and many injuries occurred. The games that were

Chip Cards And Magnetic Stripe Cards
Chip Cards V.S. Magnetic Stripe Cards Nowadays, the use of cards is becoming more and more
frequent because of its convenience. And the technology provides the way to make cards become
more practical. Two most common types of cards that people use are chip cards and magnetic cards.
Both chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are broadly used all over the world in diverse areas of
people s life. However, chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are different from the security, function,
and the process of the transaction. The first difference between chip cards and magnetic stripe cards is
the security of the cards. Due to people put the data into the cards, the security of the cards is a serious
factor of the cards. Once the security is not reasonable that the data leaks out, the owner of the card
will suffer a large loss. The data includes the profile of a person, like the home and work addresses,
the phone number, and the most important element is the money that is in the credit cards and debit
cards. Basically, people pay the greatest attention to whether the money in the card is safe or not. Chip
card has high standard on the security. It is difficult to clone the information of the cards. And by now,
there are no examples of cloning the information on chip cards. According to one of the authorized
bank Chase, a chip provides an extra status of security to cards. It needs to produce one time code to
finish the process of the transaction. It protects cards from the illegal

Why Baseball Is The Best Sport
A professional baseball player once said that its a round ball and a round bat and you got to hit it
square . This is one of the reasons that baseball is a not just the best sport it is the hardest.Although
some people believe that football is the best sport the reality is that baseball is the best sport that is
around today. There are way more games in baseball than any other sport. In bleacher reports article
their they say that their are 162 baseball games in one season and that is 6 months of baseball the NBA
is 82 games a season and the NFL is only 16 games a season. That is why baseball is in fact the best
sport around six months out of twelve is baseball and the second longest is only half that amount and
almost every kid you meet will have played baseball at least once in their life that is why it is the best.

Analysis Of Physiotherapy Assessment Of A Young Boy ...
Introduction
Physiotherapy assessment involves forming hypotheses, and thus a diagnosis, by way of questioning,
observation and physical examination. It is a requirement of the Health and Care Professions Council
(HCPC) as stated in the Standards of Proficiency: Physiotherapists All details and information
recorded are highly confidential, so patient records must be maintained appropriately, and
confidentiality of these never breached (HCPC 2013).
In the following report, I will be discussing the hypothetical assessment of a young boy Miguel , who
suffered a supracondylar fracture. As he is under 16, he will be accompanied by a parent/guardian who
may possibly contribute to the assessment process. Consent should also be given prior to assessment.
Subjective Assessment History Taking
This subjective assessment forms a series of questions posed to the patient relating to their present
condition/problem (Farr 2014a). Important factors that must be taken into consideration prior to
treatment, such as patient preferences, contraindications, contributing factors, medication, family
medical history, other medical conditions and previous medical investigations, are ascertained during
this history taking .
The subjective assessment consists of Presenting Condition (PC), History of Presenting Condition
(HPC), Past Medical History (PMH), Social History (SH) and Drug History (DH) (Forrester Gale
2014a).
During the PC, it is important that Miguel s pain is documented. This

A Research Study Of The Airius Air Pear With Phi Cell Units
As a company, you have already done your research and began stepping in the proper direction for
creating an overall sanitary and healthy atmosphere for your guests and employees. At the moment, I
believe you have just under 7 of the Airius Air Pear with PHI cell units in your facility, that have been
purchased over the past few months in multiple orders. With my study of these products, I ve come to
realize the the great impact they can have on your environment. Typically, where I would love to find
and highlight all of the negative things about the Airius products vs. ours, there is truly only one,
which I will point out later. However, there are a few major points to consider when comparing our
products to theirs. The Airius Air Pear with PHI cell (which is the unit(s) you have currently), are
designed to equal out the temperature of the air in a room while emitting Ionized Hydro Peroxides to
sanitize and disinfect all of the air and surfaces. These units have a cost to you of $2,000 each with a
recommended 1500 2000 sq ft operating space and are FDA approved. The unit is also designed to last
for 2yrs with a $300 parts replacement to renew and must be done by your staff. The unit will also
need to be maintained by your staff throughout the years. The one negative aspect I mentioned before,
is that while emitting these Ionized Hydro Peroxides, the unit also emits a small level of ozone (as
quoted on their product description) which has been shown to be harmful

The Woman Of A Tradesman Essay
recently discovered love won t meddle with her freedom and independence: Mr. Knightley as of now
has a fortune of his own and even consents to move into Hartfield after their marriage. In spite of the
fact that Emma is unmistakably a flight from the usual and ordinary Austen s depiction of women, the
other female characters in the novel bring to light the challenges confronting ladies without monetary
autonomy. Miss Bates, Jane Fairfax, and Harriet Smith represent three conceivable situations for the
women who do not have high social status and position like Emma. Miss Bates never wedded and is
reliant on her mother s insignificant wage. With the passage of time, her neediness builds, as does the
measure of disparagement that she must persevere from those around her. Similarly, Harriet is poor
and subject to those around her. The girl of a tradesman, she has few prospects until Robert Martin,
and, on account of Emma s impact, is constantly in risk of extending past her social capacities. Jane
Fairfax is considered as a foil to Emma, and, from various perspectives, appears to be more proper as
an Austen s female character. She has the majority of Emma s beauty, magnificence, and insights,
however fails to offer the pay of a refined and well off man, a reality that appears to fate her to a life
as a tutor. It is through the character of Emma and her monetarily independence, Austen attacks the
norms of the society which leaves women with so less options and

For a performer to get to the top they will need help from the governing body of their sport. The main

At current there is one major programme being run nationally through out primary schools all over the
country. The programme is called the Tops programme and is co ordinated by the Youth Sport Trust, a
governing body working for the development of sport for children between the age of 3 and 14. The
programmes are delivered as a package including practical training to teachers and resources and are
designed to support the delivery of the national curriculum.
On the Island at present the MSR have provided all primary schools with only two of these
programmes. The Top Play and the Top Sport. These two programmes, yet very helpful in the
development of the children, don t give a spread of equality. As on the Island there are some disabled
athletes who have represented the Island in athletics but have had to learn these events at a later date,

same days, there isn t a men s Olympics and a women s Olympics. This means that athletes can train

A Bar At The Folies Bernre Summary
Humanities Mod 2 Benjamin Dyck Rasmussen College Author Note This paper is being submitted to
the Humanities course on 12/11/2017. A Bar at the Folies Bergère Artist: Edouard Manet (1832 83).
Subject: Suzon, according to the recollections of Manet s friends: a young woman who worked at the
Folies Bergère, one of the great Parisian cafés concerts , a kind of beer hall with music, circus acts and
other entertainment. Analysis: This painting, which was actually painted when Manet was critically ill,
upholds the artist s conflicting outlook. One approach at looking at this painting, shows it features a
modern locale in The Folies Bergere the most renowned and modern of Paris s cafe concert halls,
which was noted among many other things for its innovative electric lights. In addition, its brushwork
is Impressionistic and its framing has been swayed by the new art of photography. And another
approach, its meaning is totally opaque, even inexplicable, dealing as it does with a problem that
engaged Manet throughout his entire adult life: the relationship, in figurative painting, between
realism and illusion. Probably modelled on Las Meninas (1656), the enigmatic Baroque masterpiece
by Velazquez, the painting seems to be a straightforward frontal image of a barkeep serving behind her
counter, who peers out at us, the viewer/patron. Then we see the giant mirror behind her and the
confusing reflections it holds. The woman s reflection has been turned to the right; while in the

Synthesis Of Magnesium Oxide
In the first reaction, the copper wire reacted with oxygen from the air in the reaction 2Cu(s) + O₂(g) →
2CuO(s). This is apparent because it was observed that copper underwent a chemical reaction,
changing color form a shiny orange color to the dark gray color characteristic of copper(II) oxide.
Therefore, the product of this reaction is copper(II) oxide. The reaction is a synthesis reaction because
copper and oxygen combine to form one compound.
In the second reaction, when the magnesium ribbon is heated, it undergoes the reaction, 2Mg(s) +
O₂(g) → 2MgO(s). The magnesium reacted with oxygen in the air to form magnesium oxide when the
magnesium ribbon was heated and it produced a white, matte, and crumbly product. This indicates
that the the product formed is magnesium oxide, a dull, white, substance. The reaction is classified as
a synthesis reaction because the magnesium and oxygen combined to form one product.
The third reaction is represented by the formula CuCO₃(s) → CuO(s) + CO₂(g). When heated, the
copper(II) carbonate breaks down into the products copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide. We know
this because our wood splint stopped flaming the instant it was inserted into the test tube containing
the gaseous byproduct of the reaction. Because the flame was extinguished by the gas, we can infer
that the gaseous byproduct of the reaction was carbon dioxide, thus leaving the the solid copper oxide
in the test tube. The reaction is a decomposition reaction because

Compare And Contrast River Valley Civilizations
All of the Early River Valley Civilization have contributed in a good variety of ways. The three
empires (Egypt,Sumer, and Indus) are similar in their own contributions.
The biggest similarity the three civilizations had were record keeping. Sumer had created a system
called cuneiform. Egypt developed a system of writing called hieroglyphs. The indus developed a
written language made up of 400 symbols. Record keeping was very important to all three
civilizations because they needed recording events for taxes, wars, and religious texts which was a
success for each culture civilization. So the three Early River Valley civilizations used a written
language that helped them effectively. Another similarity the three river valley civilizations had in
common was that they all believed in the same thing. The three civilizations were polytheism.
Polytheism means that you believe in many gods. The egyptians had believed in over 2,000 gods and
that there was a god for every temple. The sumerians believed that each god had there own city they

The labor camp is in desolate Siberia, where it is frigid and barren. There are few opportunities to
escape the cold, as the prisoners are furnished with only tattered rags for clothes. Consequently, the
cold is an acute struggle for almost every prisoner. When warmth is available, A man who s warm can

on their own, while the lucky few with soft jobs and power are allowed to relish in warmth and
comfort. Although the prisoners bodies are physically cold, on a deeper level, someone privileged with
authority could never truly relate to someone in a worse situation. Literally, Tsezar could not fathom
how cold Shukhov feels; metaphorically, those with freedom would not be able to understand the
strain of oppression in the same manner as the oppressed who are suffering. Thus, Shukhov s efforts to

value of his own identity. Extensive description of the body searches the prisoners are subjected to

Gender Nature Vs Nurture
For years, the issues involving nature vs. nurture have been discussed and argued. Many aspects of
humans lives can be changed by genetics or the environment the individual was brought up in. One
thing both of these influence is the way gender affects individuals learning styles. An article written by
Kelley King, Michael Gurian, and Kathy Stevens discusses how boys and girls have developmental
differences that are deep enough to merit distinct educational practices. While a second article, by Lise
Eliot, explains more on the side of the environment being the main factor as she explains gender
stereotypes within cultures cause differences in learning styles. Although both articles present on
opposite sides of the nature vs. nurture debate, they both mention that, no matter what the cause is,
there is a problem in our school systems relating to gender. Another reading by Richard A. Lippa,
extends on this topic by providing solutions to the gender gap. Lippa also explains how these
differences come to be through nature and nurture.
When discussing how nature and genetics affect genders learning styles, we can look at the article,
Gender Friendly Schools by Kelley King, Michael Gurian, and Kathy Stevens. This article talks about
how certain genetic factors make separating classrooms beneficial. Specifically, the article mentions a
few schools who increased their test scores, specifically for boys, when they tried separating
classrooms by gender. Also, it is mentioned

Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres was born on August 29, 1780 in Montauban, France. His mother,
Anne Moulet, was the daughter of a successful wigmaker and was illiterate. His father, Jean Marie
Joseph Ingres, was an jack of all trades artist; he was a painter, sculptor, stonemason, and musician.
Ingres first teacher in the arts was his father, who encouraged him in drawing and music. In 1786, he
started studying at the local school, l École des Frères de l Education Chretienne. Unfortunately, the
school was closed in 1791 due to the French Revolution. The same year, Ingres father took him to

Ingres would leave for Rome just before the Salon, after proposing to Marie Anne Julie Forestier, a

characterized by solid lines and colors, spatial and anatomical manipulation, and lots of detail was
allegedly too gothic for the times and was a regression to the past. Ingres was deeply offended by this
criticism and refused to return to Paris, a decision that ended his engagement. In Rome, Ingres
continued to create paintings to send to Paris, and they continued to receive harsh criticism for his
classical style. In 1811, Ingres completed his masterpiece (final piece as a student to prove mastery of

Unfortunately, the Murat dynasty collapsed the following year and Ingres was never paid. This,
coupled with the fall of Napoleon, left Ingres effectively stuck in Rome without any patronage. He

Personal Aspects Of Natural Disasters
Across the World people know what a natural disaster is, but have never actually experienced one first
hand. Natural disasters are events that are unexpected, and can ruin a town in a matter of just a few
minutes. Just a few hours away from my home town lies a big city that is nicknamed Jomo. This town
sounds small and mysterious, but it is actually very well known. This town is Joplin, Missouri.
Growing up in a small Southern Missouri town I have experienced multiple tornadoes, but never knew
just how dangerous they can be. However, in the month of May 2011 I became very aware of the
danger. On May 22, 2011 an EF5 tornado hit the town of Joplin, and destroyed almost half of the city.
This event hit very close to home for many people in my community. This tornado is the most
expensive tornado in US history, and I first hand got to experience the destruction. A few days after
the tornado hit my family and friends decided to go help this nearby town. I thought it was going to be
an easy trip, but I ended up seeing things that will never leave my mind. My family and I woke up at
four in the morning to begin our two day journey. I was 13 at the time, and knew very little about what
was going on before I got to Joplin. We arrived to Joplin around seven, with a whole day of plans
ahead of us. I still remember the drive into town. We saw hundreds of people on the side of the street.
Most of these people were sleeping on blankets right in the middle of the town. This is when I

skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left alone by the faint
of heart. The Macabre Set should get creative with their decorations and give ordinary items a touch of
the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print department. Flip through their
pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to your dorm room with some
creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls on a beach so much the
better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they will look great in various
shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic way so as to suggest
trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let the paint dry
completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out smooth. This
helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to several
different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little lambs can
be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the dark side to your
artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them after dark without
having to illuminate your whole room. Pull the covers tight! The Future Homemaker Halloween

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Influence On Women
There are people who influence a single community to realize that they are more then what sociality
says for them. That they can achieve more than what is told. Elizabeth Cady Stanton did this for the
woman. She was one of the first women to influence millions of women in her time and she still
encourages women to this day. She started the idea that women should have the same rights as men.
To this day women are still having trouble with being more but she helped women see themselves as
more. Elizabeth Cady Stanton is not really known but she worked with Susan B. Anthony to evolve
the idea that America has of women.
Elizabeth Cady was born on November 12, 1815. She was born in Johnstown, New York to a large
wealthy family. Her father was a lawyer called Daniel Cady and her mother was Margaret Livingston
Cady. Her father would much rather have more sons than a daughter. With this, Elizabeth decided to
learn more masculine skills in education and in daily life. Even with pressure and restrictions she
completed her education and graduated from Troy Female Seminary known as Emma Willard s
Academy in today s times. When she went to visit her cousin Gerrit Smith, an abolitionist, in ... Show

Lean Manufacturing And Six Sigma
Q3. 1. Introduction In today s world, majority of the enterprises are driven through customers need
whose primary emphasis is on quality. Hence there is a need for continuous process improvement to
satisfy the need of the customers. Lean Manufacturing and Six sigma approach has been applied in
diverse manufacturing processes which in turn has contributed significantly in achieving continuous
improvements. By utilizing these tools, organizations focus on maximizing their bottom line successes
apart from improving their top line growth. However, many organizations face difficulties while

in every other aspect of the supply chain. Figure 1: Lean Enterprise [2] Figure 1 provides a conceptual
framework of lean principles across the supply chain of the enterprise thereby yielding value to the
customer. Lean thinking helps in providing flexibility to the needs of the customer. Emphasis is also
put on organization of workplace which leads to more simplified work environment. Ease of access in
the workplace and good ergonomic designs are some of the by products of lean thinking methodology.
Lean enterprises are more adaptable to changing market trends and also provide prompt delivery to

solving problems. It provides a statistical analysis to quality improvement in production processes.
There are primarily five phases in this approach namely: define measure, analyze, improve and
control, widely mentioned as DMAIC approach. The pattern of DMAIC ensures that the projects are
focused on current problem and in providing the management with consistent and deliverable results.
In the Define Phase projects are identified through brainstorming within the organization. Project

Homeless Veterans Program Analysis
Programs and Support for Homeless Veterans Veterans have a higher possibility in becoming
homeless than the general population especially if they are in poverty or a minority (Thompson
Bridier, 2013). In human services and other services that have counselors would be able to start a plan
of action. A plan of action will provided proper resources for this population. A counselor can also find
programs to help find shelter and to get them back into the workforce by looking into the Veteran
Affairs (VA) programs.

Veterans who use these programs can better themselves gaining insight; obtain job skills to advance

veterans. Veterans who have served and put the life on the line should not have to worry about
transition back to civilian life and the VA is trying to make sure this happens. Human services, social
services, and other services can also assist homeless veterans by getting them into or guide them to a
right program. The VA has changed its guidelines to help and improve what is best to for treating
PSTD and substance abuse due to they both can be related but not recommended to treat them together
(Bernardy, Hamblen, Friedman, Kivlahan, 2011). The VA also has individual placement and support

and support is a prompt system for job placement (Leddy, Stefanovies Rosenheck, 2014). Another
opportunity that veterans have to help them to transition back to civilian is education assistance

Radar During World War I
During World War I battles were fought using ears and eyes. This was due to the fact that there was no
such thing as radar. By the late 1940s, Britain and United States researched and developed radar
systems for themselves to use during World War II . Today, radar is one of the most prevalent
equipment devices used in the military, especially on naval ships. Radar is so detrimental to the navy
because it detects invisible or distant objects by means of reflected radio waves and is capable of
locating them accurately in space . Using this method, radars are able to scan for and, or track targets
that, again, are too far for the human eye to see. With the AN/SPQ 9B, a ship is able to do both; in fact
it can track while scanning. The track while

One Punch Man
Being a comic book and manga reader, I always fell in love with the plot, read the words and skim
through the drawings without stopping to think about the symbolism of the drawings on the pages.
While reading McCloud s Understanding Comics and observing Molly Bang s theories on shapes and
lines, my mind has opened a broader understanding of what is right in front of me, when I m reading a
manga or a comic book. To begin with, in chapter four, McCloud talks about how some artists use
lines, multiple images or streaking to show motion. In the manga One Punch Man the artist Yusuke
Murata shows Saitama s movement for the serious hop attack with streaking and multiple images, to
show the different ways Saitama is approaching his opponent. Also, you can imply Molly Bang s
theory on diagonal shapes that show tension or motion in which Yusuke uses both (Look at picture
#1). You can see how under Saitama there are also pointy edges that go diagonally so one can feel
threatened as Molly Bang said. Also you can clearly see the many silhouettes of Saitama to show his
special attack much clearer.
Second, Molly Bang and Scott McCloud both touch base with color. How the darker color is
associated with evil like in this picture (Look at picture #2). You can see the dark circles under his

Socioeconomic Status Affects Development During All Stages...
Socioeconomic status affects development during all stages, but the infancy stage is affected
dramatically because the effects on health and wellbeing are at a crucial stage of life that affects an
individual throughout life. Infants born into higher socioeconomic status needs are met more
adequately than those of its counterpart infants of the low socioeconomic status. Infants needs being
unmet due to lack of resources have been linked to growth restrictions, as well as failure to thrive.
According to (Mcloyd,1998) Lower IQs, higher rates of perinatal complications, increased exposure to
lead are all factors that are linked to poverty in children s development. A family s ability to provide is
a huge factor in the growth of an infant. When those basic needs are stunted the infant isn t allotted the
full amount of resources hindering growth. Low income families are at an elevated risk to not have
adequate health insurance findings show that children are at a higher risk for illness. Elevated neonatal
mortality, risk for abuse and neglect, asthma are all aspects of the correlation found in range tests Aber

President Lyndon. B Johnson and the Vietnam War Essay
The conflict in Vietnam for the United States started when President Dwight D. Eisenhower went
along with the domino theory and sent in military advisors in South Vietnam to stop the communist
movement from taking place in South Vietnam. The Vietnam conflict was between the communist s
and the United States. North Vietnam was led by Ho Chi Minh, and Ho Chi Minh led the Viet Cong, a
guerilla group to help spread communism. The United States were supporters of the South Vietnam
because they wanted them to maintain their government rather than falling to the domino theory of
communism. After Eisenhower s term ended John F. Kennedy became president and took control of

What made this even more difficult was that he had not given much attention to Vietnam or to foreign
affairs in general (Moise 30). For a nation like the United States in need of a decision on the fly, this
was very troubling. Earlier President Johnson felt that Harry Truman, in 1950, had erred by going into
the Korean War without getting firm commitment of support from the congress (Moise 226). In other
words it appeared to be that Johnson would be careful about getting involved in a conflict like
Vietnam. Being careful to say the least was not the case at all. There was not much serious thought in
escalating the Vietnam War until the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred. In the Gulf of Tonkin it was
reported that two American destroyers had been attacked by North Vietnamese PT boats on August 4,
1964, (Friedman 293). Shortly after these incidents, Johnson immediately escalated the war by
ordering airstrikes on North Vietnam (Friedman 293). These events made it so Johnson could raise
United States involvement in Vietnam without congressional backing on his decisions. Increasing
involvement in the war was appealing though because after the Tonkin Gulf incident support of
military involvement in North Vietnam raised from thirty one percent approvals to fifty percent
approval (Moise 226). Although approval of the amount in favor immediately after the Gulf of Tonkin
incident rose, it was a mistake on Johnson s part... assuming that the

There are many significant events in history that have developed our nation into what it is now. One
key event was the National Security Act of 1947. The purpose National Security Act was to help
strengthen national security, bring together the U.S. Government, and complete unification of the
armed forces. This would be cause of the expansion of new government agencies. Some questions
arise about the National Security Act of 1947 like, what was the impact the National Security Act on
the U.S. Government? Or was the National Security Act of 1947 necessary? Some historians say the
Act was created because President Truman didn t want another incident like the devastating attack on

Stuart states, Pearl Harbor convinced most Americans of the need for fundamental reform of the
agencies responsible for foreign and defense affairs. Though, through the years there were many other
incidents causing debate over the nations national security, the memory of Pearl Harbor was a driving
factor for the National Security Act of 1947. Ultimately, the National Security Act of 1947 was meant
to strengthen and unify all the armed forces but it didn t really do either. Although the nation s national
security has strengthened, it didn t combine or unify the armed forces in the way it was designed.
(Stuart 2003)
The National Security Act of 1947 later became the primary law for foreign policy and the nation s
intelligence agency. Stevenson writes, It was crafted as a means to impose restraints on military
spending, yet it provided the framework for the Cold War military buildup. The National Security Act
of 1947 caused somewhat of hardship on the armed forces, Army continued to suffer cutbacks, Air

The Importance Of Being The Middle Child
Being the middle child, I have always thought of myself as the forgotten one. I m not the first born or
the baby of the family so I was, and still am, sort of looked over. My parents, although I am sure they
did not mean to, have proven me right about this many times. I was only four years old the first time I
was forgotten. My mother got all of my sisters into the car as we were leaving K mart, the biggest
store in town, when she forgot to check if I was there. It wasn t until she had already driven across
town and told my sister to ask me what I wanted from Taco Bell that she realized I was not there.
Being a whole four years old, I figured I could navigate the town pretty well by myself, so I began my
journey home alone. Unfortunately, the policeman did not see it the same way and I only made it to
the end of the parking lot. To my mother s advantage, we lived in a very small town, so she got in no
sort of trouble for this mistake.
I have had the chance to establish the most important relationships in my life, relationships that have
built me into the person I am today and am still growing to be. The most prominent people in my life
have always been my four sisters: Jasmine, Stirling, Lukila, and Isabella. Each of them have impacted
me in a completely unique way because they are all so different. Over the years, we have all been split
up many times. In other words, we ve been put in all sorts of places on the map and back again. For

Maytag Strategic Analysis
I. Executive Summary
Maytag Corporation was founded in 1893 by Fred L Maytag and two other men. The company built
its first washing machine in 1907. From there the company quickly expanded into a national
corporation. With the sweeping globalization movement of the 1990 s, Maytag has attempted to
establish a presence as a global competitor in the appliance industry.
As the company has tried to establish itself in the developing global marketplace, it has had
difficulties. Not only were consumers taste and preferences changing in the domestic market, but the
company needed to develop products that would appeal to the new global markets. Maytag will need a
great deal of money to make these large changes.

Technological forces also made a very large change in the mid 90s. With Microsoft s launch of the
first user friendly Windows program, home computer usage began to increase. Also Al Gore helped
the world wide web launch during this time frame. With access to the internet, companies were also
able to use electronic data interchange (EDI) to help make purchase orders, schedule delivers and
other functions that are available when companies share data. Maytag also at this time is using fuzzy
logic in appliances. More technology will continue to be required in appliances as time moves on.
Porter s five forces are used to determine the competitive intensity and attractiveness of a market.
These are close forces that affect a company s ability to make a profit and serve customers. If any of
these forces change, a company must reassess its marketplace. The five forces include: the threat of
substitute products, the threat of the entry of new competitors, the intensity of competitive rivalry, the
bargaining power of customers and the bargaining power of suppliers.
Porter s five forces can be used to analyze Maytag. First, the threat of substitute products is low. The
only substitute for a washing machine is a large sink and a great deal of manual labor. Many of the
appliances have substitutes, but because those substitutes are so old and outdated there is not a threat
from them.
Second, the threat of entry of

mass commication and how it affects todays youth Essay
From Eminem s hardcore explicit lyrics, to Lil Kim s outrageous outfits to the late Tupac Shakur s
thug life image, the rap subculture has been under a lot of speculation. Many rappers lyrics contain
violent messages that parents fear are encouraging youth to become violent. The media has a field day
covering protests against rappers, such as Eminem about their explicit lyrics towards gays, women and
their promotion of violence. The main concern is how rap is influencing today, particularly towards
the youth community, and the answer can be found in the media. There are a lot of articles, books,
movies and documentaries written and produced each year with hip hop being the main subject. This
great plethora of media not only affects the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dance known as breaking, which was influenced by earlier dances know as locking and popping
(these dances required a lot of body control, mainly in the arms, legs, and torso) were established in
L.A. The dances received national exposure on the hit show Soul Train, and ultimately swept the rap
subculture (George, 133).
The next big wave in the subculture behind rap music itself was DJing. The ability to mix music on a
machine and scratch records was a phenomenon in itself. Rap music in the industry was nothing
without a beat, and in order for the song to be a hit, the beat must carry the lyrics. Many of the beats at
the time were fast pounding bah bum bah rhythms. DJing led to another culture in rap, which was beat
boxing. Beat boxing was when a person made their voice sound like the beat in the song. Rhazzel, is
not only famous for being a DJ, but also for beat boxing. Many times during a concert, he would just
stop the music and beat box the melody. As a result of this influx of energy towards the rap subculture
and its birth of many other cultures, Tricia Rose quotes:
It was not long before similarly marginalized

Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work Practice
Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice
Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of life and growth
(Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Some losses are painful and consequently trigger grief, however some
losses are natural and a part of development, such as maturation, and usually seen as progression but
can also present as a loss. An element of social work is to assist service users in their growth, for
example from childhood into adolescence, and offer support through difficult losses. Loss can occur
within a wide spectrum of experiences; such as death and bereavement; loss of identity for example
losing something defining, for instance faith or religion; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Butterfly Mosque By Samuel Huntington
The idea of a clash of civilizations can be originated largely to Samuel Huntington. He describes a
future where the majority of human conflicts will be due to cultural differences . (Huntington). In The
Butterfly Mosque, Willow Wilson, an American, travels to Egypt, converts to Islam, and marries an
Egyptian man. This places her at the fault lines of two cultures. Through her experiences, she sees the
frontlines of this clash of civilizations that Huntington predicted, and tries to uncover if she can thread
the needle between her two cultures. In this paper, I will argue that through her experiences with
Muslims in Tura, other Westerners in Egypt, and in reactions to her writings, she discovers that the
clash of civilizations is real. This clash results in cruelty, fear, self hatred, and an internal existential
crisis in Willow that leaves her uncertain about whether or not she can navigate her internal clash of
cultures.
Willow s experiences in Tura with Muslims demonstrated the Muslim response to Western culture. In
Tura, she is surrounded by a much more conservative group of people than were in Cairo. She felt the
anger that people had towards the West (120). Between the West and Arabic cultures, there was a pit
full of dangers: poverty, terrorism, wars of attrition, racism, colonialism, and malice (119). This bred
distrust, and it was palpable to Willow. Between many of the inhabitants of Tura to Willow, there was
a lack of compassion or care given to her. One

Essay on Utilitarianism
Utilitarianism
There are many essays, papers and books written on the concept of right and wrong. Philosophers
have theorized about moral actions for eons, one such philosopher is John Stuart Mill. In his book
Utilitarianism he tries to improve on the theories of utilitarianism from previous philosophers, as he is
a strong believer himself in the theory. In Mill s book he presents the ideology that there is another
branch on the utilitarian tree. This branch being called rule utilitarianism. Mill makes a distinction
between two different types of utilitarianism; act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Rule
utilitarianism seems like a major advance over the simple theory of act utilitarianism. But for all its
added complexity, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the instance when an individual steals from another individual for his/her own self happiness,
others in society cannot deem this to be justifiable, even if it may be more beneficial to the thief to
steal. Act utilitarianism does not guarantee the protection to the victim of theft in this example
because, it s more focused on the greatest happiness and not on the consequences for others happiness.
The greatest happiness may be given to either person in this situation depending on the stories of each
(i.e. the reason for thief). Therefore, the idea of right seems not to be absolute. Mill however,
recognizes this as a problem and introduces the theory of rule utilitarianism to compensate. Instead of
looking at the consequences of a particular act, rule utilitarianism determines the rightness of an act by
an alternative mean. That mean consists of first finding the best rule of conduct, this is done by
finding the values of the consequences that follow a particular rule; The best rule is the rule, which has
the greatest overall result of any given action. Hence, one must follow the actual rules of one s society.
To illustrate, one ought not to steal because it is societies laws. Solving the issue of not recognizing
the victims happiness due to the fact, according to Mill, that these laws are based on morally right
objectives. However, rule utilitarianism is just an impotent way around the problem presented by the

Reaction Paper On Shadow Magic

Reproduction by Walter Benjamin
Noor Inas Aliah Binti Mohamad Zahari 1132701133
Describe two parts of the Shadow Magic movie that reminded you of the article The work of art in the
age of mechanical reproduction by Walter Benjamin. Please state timeline. (5%)
There are a few elements of some scenes in the movie Shadow Magic by Ann Hu that reminded me of
the article The Work of Art In The Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin. In my
opinion, I feel that the scene (00:28:00 00:29:00) where Liu voluntarily (without Raymond Wallace s
acknowledgment or permission) tried to attract the people in the streets and convince them to ... Show

These two sections of the article can be closely identified in relation to the scenes I have chosen from
Shadow Magic earlier.
Explain why you chose the two paragraphs/sections from the article. How does those
paragraphs/sections relate to the movie. *The focus should be on explaining your understanding of the
paragraphs with support from movie. (10%)
The 1868 article by Walter Benjamin; The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction gives
us a lot to think about. Benjamin claimed that a work of art is characterized by an aura, which the
viewer perceives as a spell that devotes them to a certain materialistic element. This proclamation in
the section of the article I have stated regarding the people of prehistoric time and their way of
recognizing a work of art suits the scene stated above which depicts the misconception (supposedly
related to magic and rituals) that the people from the earlier civilizations had about occurrences of
anything unaccustomed and new to

Current Diagnostic Criteria For Sarabeth s Disorders
Current diagnostic criteria for SaraBeth s disorders is better explained by criterion A D in Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and criterion A E in Anxiety Disorder due to another medical condition.
OCD criteria A requires that the individual have the presence of obsession and/or compulsions.
SaraBeth reports obsessions of recurrent and persistent thoughts about harm coming to her parents and
although she had attempted to ignore these thoughts she continues with performing her compulsions.
SaraBeth s compulsions are evident by reported repetitive behaviors of performing ritual prayers,
persistent checking on the iron and stove and although SaraBeth can admit that her fear is unrealistic,
she continues the compulsions in order to feel better or to relieve oneself. Criteria B requires that the
obsessions and/or compulsions be time consuming (more than one hour) or cause clinically significant
distress or impairments in important areas of function. SaraBeth has stated that can spend three to four
hours during the day engaged in checking behaviors. Criteria C entails that the obsessions compulsive
symptoms are not attributable to the physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition.
SaraBeth currently has no indication of a medical condition or substance use prior to the first onset of
her obsessive compulsive symptoms. Criteria D requires that the disturbance not better explained by
the symptoms of another medical condition. Currently there is no evidence

  • 2. How Did The Polynesians Develop Their Culture Polynesian societies and cultures have developed by living in a place hard to survive for centuries. Throughout these years the Polynesians have developed into a group of people with a strong sense of community. Many things have shaped the way the Polynesians developed. The country of origin for the Polynesians heavily influenced their own traditions and culture. When the Polynesians first settled in Polynesia their traditions most likely would have been the same as those of their country of origin. Eventually these customs evolved into different rituals, unique to the Polynesians. Some traditions in Polynesia include the art of tattooing and tracking their genealogies. When the Europeans first came to Polynesia, they too influenced the way Polynesia developed. The Polynesians culture and traditions were discouraged and it was many years before the Polynesians could safely go back to their old way of living. Due to these influences, Polynesia became the tribal community that it is today. The country of origin for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Europeans introduced policies of assimilation. These policies banned Polynesian languages, cultural traditions and religious beliefs. The policies didn t work as they deprived the Polynesians of their identity, the Polynesians objected the policies. A well known revolt is when the boat named the Rainbow Warrior protested and was attacked by the French at Auckland Harbour, New Zealand in 1985. The Europeans also killed thousands of Polynesians; some died by the diseases that were brought over from Europe and others died from when the Europeans enforced nuclear testing on their islands. The Polynesians were not evacuated during the nuclear tests and many suffered from radiation exposure. European settlement greatly hindered the progress of Polynesian society. Cultural advancement only started again once the Europeans allowed the Polynesians to follow their own beliefs and way of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These whales have been endangered since the eighteenth and nineteen hundreds and have been here as long as the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. They are members of the group of whales known as rorquals and are found in all the world s oceans. They live on the upper layers of the open sea and are mostly found along the edges of the continental shelves (Zimmerman 1). Their habitat consists of polar and subtropical waters. Their lifestyle is diurnal and their group behavior is solitary (A Z). • 4. Quinto Case Summary How does the AAER describe Quinto s failure to act with due professional care and failure to maintain an attitude of appropriate professional skepticism. Sections 14 and 15 of the release address this specifically. The evidence that Quinto was convinced by to arrive at an unqualified opinion was far from sufficient, as there was a great amount of evidence that all was not right at Soyo. Due professional care demanded that his team dig deeper and perform analytical procedures to follow up on all the warning signs they came across during the audit. The Vasquez team also failed to adequately document their work and their findings. Quinto, and Vasquez as an audit team, did not follow up on the violations of the debt covenants, ignored the improper classification of those debts, ignored the lack of ... Do these sanctions seem appropriate? These sanctions do seem appropriate. It is unclear from the details of the release what the defendant s motives were in his negligence. If he was simply ignorant or lazy, then the sanction seems fair, and hopefully served as future motivation for Federico to take his work seriously. However, if the oversights and lack of documentation were done to cover up shoddy work in order to receive some kind of remuneration from Soyo, then Quinto probably deserved more punishment than he received. The accounting profession relies on public trust, as does the financial market as a whole. Many people count on the work of auditors and accountants to guide investment decisions. To undermine that trust with a malicious intent to make oneself richer should probably result in a lifetime removal from the profession. And the technology provides the way to make cards become more practical. Two most common types of cards that people use are chip cards and magnetic cards. Both chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are broadly used all over the world in diverse areas of people s life. However, chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are different from the security, function, and the process of the transaction. The first difference between chip cards and magnetic stripe cards is the security of the cards. Due to people put the data into the cards, the security of the cards is a serious factor of the cards. Once the security is not reasonable that the data leaks out, the owner of the card will suffer a large loss. In the following report, I will be discussing the hypothetical assessment of a young boy Miguel , who suffered a supracondylar fracture. • 11. The Woman Of A Tradesman Essay recently discovered love won t meddle with her freedom and independence: Mr. Knightley as of now has a fortune of his own and even consents to move into Hartfield after their marriage. In spite of the fact that Emma is unmistakably a flight from the usual and ordinary Austen s depiction of women, the other female characters in the novel bring to light the challenges confronting ladies without monetary autonomy. Miss Bates, Jane Fairfax, and Harriet Smith represent three conceivable situations for the women who do not have high social status and position like Emma. Miss Bates never wedded and is reliant on her mother s insignificant wage. With the passage of time, her neediness builds, as does the measure of disparagement that she must persevere from those around her. Similarly, Harriet is poor and subject to those around her. The girl of a tradesman, she has few prospects until Robert Martin, and, on account of Emma s impact, is constantly in risk of extending past her social capacities. Jane Fairfax is considered as a foil to Emma, and, from various perspectives, appears to be more proper as an Austen s female character. She has the majority of Emma s beauty, magnificence, and insights, however fails to offer the pay of a refined and well off man, a reality that appears to fate her to a life as a tutor. It is through the character of Emma and her monetarily independence, Austen attacks the norms of the society which leaves women with so less options and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Bar at the Folies Bergère Artist: Edouard Manet (1832 83). Subject: Suzon, according to the recollections of Manet s friends: a young woman who worked at the Folies Bergère, one of the great Parisian cafés concerts , a kind of beer hall with music, circus acts and other entertainment. Analysis: This painting, which was actually painted when Manet was critically ill, upholds the artist s conflicting outlook. One approach at looking at this painting, shows it features a modern locale in The Folies Bergere the most renowned and modern of Paris s cafe concert halls, which was noted among many other things for its innovative electric lights. In addition, its brushwork is Impressionistic and its framing has been swayed by the new art of photography. And another approach, its meaning is totally opaque, even inexplicable, dealing as it does with a problem that engaged Manet throughout his entire adult life: the relationship, in figurative painting, between realism and illusion. Probably modelled on Las Meninas (1656), the enigmatic Baroque masterpiece by Velazquez, the painting seems to be a straightforward frontal image of a barkeep serving behind her counter, who peers out at us, the viewer/patron. Then we see the giant mirror behind her and the confusing reflections it holds. The woman s reflection has been turned to the right; while in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Synthesis Of Magnesium Oxide In the first reaction, the copper wire reacted with oxygen from the air in the reaction 2Cu(s) + O₂(g) → 2CuO(s). This is apparent because it was observed that copper underwent a chemical reaction, changing color form a shiny orange color to the dark gray color characteristic of copper(II) oxide. Therefore, the product of this reaction is copper(II) oxide. The reaction is a synthesis reaction because copper and oxygen combine to form one compound. In the second reaction, when the magnesium ribbon is heated, it undergoes the reaction, 2Mg(s) + O₂(g) → 2MgO(s). The magnesium reacted with oxygen in the air to form magnesium oxide when the magnesium ribbon was heated and it produced a white, matte, and crumbly product. This indicates that the the product formed is magnesium oxide, a dull, white, substance. The reaction is classified as a synthesis reaction because the magnesium and oxygen combined to form one product. The third reaction is represented by the formula CuCO₃(s) → CuO(s) + CO₂(g). When heated, the copper(II) carbonate breaks down into the products copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide. We know this because our wood splint stopped flaming the instant it was inserted into the test tube containing the gaseous byproduct of the reaction. Because the flame was extinguished by the gas, we can infer that the gaseous byproduct of the reaction was carbon dioxide, thus leaving the the solid copper oxide in the test tube. The reaction is a decomposition reaction because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three empires (Egypt,Sumer, and Indus) are similar in their own contributions. The biggest similarity the three civilizations had were record keeping. Sumer had created a system called cuneiform. Egypt developed a system of writing called hieroglyphs. The indus developed a written language made up of 400 symbols. Record keeping was very important to all three civilizations because they needed recording events for taxes, wars, and religious texts which was a success for each culture civilization. The prisoners are all left to deal with the cold on their own, while the lucky few with soft jobs and power are allowed to relish in warmth and comfort. Although the prisoners bodies are physically cold, on a deeper level, someone privileged with authority could never truly relate to someone in a worse situation. Literally, Tsezar could not fathom how cold Shukhov feels; metaphorically, those with freedom would not be able to understand the strain of oppression in the same manner as the oppressed who are suffering. Thus, Shukhov s efforts to adjust to the cold and deprivation, despite all the rights that have been taken from him, shows the value of his own identity. Extensive description of the body searches the prisoners are subjected to symbolizes the stripping of humanity under oppression. • 17. Gender Nature Vs Nurture For years, the issues involving nature vs. nurture have been discussed and argued. Many aspects of humans lives can be changed by genetics or the environment the individual was brought up in. One thing both of these influence is the way gender affects individuals learning styles. An article written by Kelley King, Michael Gurian, and Kathy Stevens discusses how boys and girls have developmental differences that are deep enough to merit distinct educational practices. While a second article, by Lise Eliot, explains more on the side of the environment being the main factor as she explains gender stereotypes within cultures cause differences in learning styles. Although both articles present on opposite sides of the nature vs. nurture debate, they both mention that, no matter what the cause is, there is a problem in our school systems relating to gender. Another reading by Richard A. Lippa, extends on this topic by providing solutions to the gender gap. Lippa also explains how these differences come to be through nature and nurture. When discussing how nature and genetics affect genders learning styles, we can look at the article, Gender Friendly Schools by Kelley King, Michael Gurian, and Kathy Stevens. This article talks about how certain genetic factors make separating classrooms beneficial. Specifically, the article mentions a few schools who increased their test scores, specifically for boys, when they tried separating classrooms by gender. Also, it is mentioned ... Ingres style characterized by solid lines and colors, spatial and anatomical manipulation, and lots of detail was allegedly too gothic for the times and was a regression to the past. Ingres was deeply offended by this criticism and refused to return to Paris, a decision that ended his engagement. In Rome, Ingres continued to create paintings to send to Paris, and they continued to receive harsh criticism for his classical style. In 1811, Ingres completed his masterpiece (final piece as a student to prove mastery of a trade), Jupiter and Thetis, which was also received harshly by critics. In 1813 Ingres married Madeleine Chapelle, and in 1814 Ingres traveled to Naples to paint Queen Caroline Murat. Unfortunately, the Murat dynasty collapsed the following year and Ingres was never paid. This, coupled with the fall of Napoleon, left Ingres effectively stuck in Rome without any patronage. A Room Of One s Own Excerpt Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own excerpt consisted of important matters that needed to be brought to the table, but too many people were afraid of speaking up to society s rules. Virginia implies facts about Shakespeare s life to add that Shakespeare s times was not the best times for female writers and their opinions. While Virginia imagines Shakespeare s life with a sister, she says, Any woman in Shakespeare s days should have had Shakespeare s genius (897). Shakespeare s era was ruled and taught by men and known for the men having very important roles in society, unlike the women. • 20. Personal Aspects Of Natural Disasters Across the World people know what a natural disaster is, but have never actually experienced one first hand. Natural disasters are events that are unexpected, and can ruin a town in a matter of just a few minutes. Just a few hours away from my home town lies a big city that is nicknamed Jomo. This town sounds small and mysterious, but it is actually very well known. This town is Joplin, Missouri. Growing up in a small Southern Missouri town I have experienced multiple tornadoes, but never knew just how dangerous they can be. However, in the month of May 2011 I became very aware of the danger. On May 22, 2011 an EF5 tornado hit the town of Joplin, and destroyed almost half of the city. This event hit very close to home for many people in my community. This tornado is the most expensive tornado in US history, and I first hand got to experience the destruction. A few days after the tornado hit my family and friends decided to go help this nearby town. I thought it was going to be an easy trip, but I ended up seeing things that will never leave my mind. My family and I woke up at four in the morning to begin our two day journey. I was 13 at the time, and knew very little about what was going on before I got to Joplin. We arrived to Joplin around seven, with a whole day of plans ahead of us. I still remember the drive into town. We saw hundreds of people on the side of the street. Most of these people were sleeping on blankets right in the middle of the town. This is when I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and gymnasiums are important structures to any facility of higher learning, but one type of building stands alone as the bastion of student interest: The Dorm. If you are living 9 months of the year in an ode to the mighty cinder block then Halloween can be the perfect holiday to bust out of a rut and get over the halfway point of the semester. If you room alone, then you are all set and free to decorate for Halloween at will. If you have a roomie, it would be best to ask if they have any opinions about decorations before you get started. The ideas in this article are broken into a couple of themes. The Macabre Halloween Theme To some people Halloween is all skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left alone by the faint of heart. The Macabre Set should get creative with their decorations and give ordinary items a touch of the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print department. Flip through their pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to your dorm room with some creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls on a beach so much the better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they will look great in various shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic way so as to suggest trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let the paint dry completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out smooth. This helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to several different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little lambs can be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the dark side to your artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them after dark without having to illuminate your whole room. • 39. Maytag Strategic Analysis I. Executive Summary Maytag Corporation was founded in 1893 by Fred L Maytag and two other men. The company built its first washing machine in 1907. From there the company quickly expanded into a national corporation. With the sweeping globalization movement of the 1990 s, Maytag has attempted to establish a presence as a global competitor in the appliance industry. As the company has tried to establish itself in the developing global marketplace, it has had difficulties. Not only were consumers taste and preferences changing in the domestic market, but the company needed to develop products that would appeal to the new global markets. Maytag will need a great deal of money to make these large changes. The current strategy that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Porter s five forces are used to determine the competitive intensity and attractiveness of a market. These are close forces that affect a company s ability to make a profit and serve customers. If any of these forces change, a company must reassess its marketplace. The five forces include: the threat of substitute products, the threat of the entry of new competitors, the intensity of competitive rivalry, the bargaining power of customers and the bargaining power of suppliers. Porter s five forces can be used to analyze Maytag. First, the threat of substitute products is low. The only substitute for a washing machine is a large sink and a great deal of manual labor. Many of the appliances have substitutes, but because those substitutes are so old and outdated there is not a threat from them. Second, the threat of entry of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many rappers lyrics contain violent messages that parents fear are encouraging youth to become violent. The dance known as breaking, which was influenced by earlier dances know as locking and popping (these dances required a lot of body control, mainly in the arms, legs, and torso) were established in L.A. The dances received national exposure on the hit show Soul Train, and ultimately swept the rap subculture (George, 133). The next big wave in the subculture behind rap music itself was DJing. The ability to mix music on a machine and scratch records was a phenomenon in itself. Rap music in the industry was nothing without a beat, and in order for the song to be a hit, the beat must carry the lyrics. Many of the beats at the time were fast pounding bah bum bah rhythms. DJing led to another culture in rap, which was beat boxing. Beat boxing was when a person made their voice sound like the beat in the song. Rhazzel, is not only famous for being a DJ, but also for beat boxing. Many times during a concert, he would just stop the music and beat box the melody. • 47. The Butterfly Mosque By Samuel Huntington The idea of a clash of civilizations can be originated largely to Samuel Huntington. He describes a future where the majority of human conflicts will be due to cultural differences . (Huntington). In The Butterfly Mosque, Willow Wilson, an American, travels to Egypt, converts to Islam, and marries an Egyptian man. This places her at the fault lines of two cultures. Through her experiences, she sees the frontlines of this clash of civilizations that Huntington predicted, and tries to uncover if she can thread the needle between her two cultures. In this paper, I will argue that through her experiences with Muslims in Tura, other Westerners in Egypt, and in reactions to her writings, she discovers that the clash of civilizations is real. This clash results in cruelty, fear, self hatred, and an internal existential crisis in Willow that leaves her uncertain about whether or not she can navigate her internal clash of cultures. Willow s experiences in Tura with Muslims demonstrated the Muslim response to Western culture. In Tura, she is surrounded by a much more conservative group of people than were in Cairo. She felt the anger that people had towards the West (120). Between the West and Arabic cultures, there was a pit full of dangers: poverty, terrorism, wars of attrition, racism, colonialism, and malice (119). This bred distrust, and it was palpable to Willow. Between many of the inhabitants of Tura to Willow, there was a lack of compassion or care given to her. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Essay on Utilitarianism Utilitarianism There are many essays, papers and books written on the concept of right and wrong. Philosophers have theorized about moral actions for eons, one such philosopher is John Stuart Mill. In his book Utilitarianism he tries to improve on the theories of utilitarianism from previous philosophers, as he is a strong believer himself in the theory. In Mill s book he presents the ideology that there is another branch on the utilitarian tree. This branch being called rule utilitarianism. Mill makes a distinction between two different types of utilitarianism; act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Rule utilitarianism seems like a major advance over the simple theory of act utilitarianism. But for all its added complexity, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the instance when an individual steals from another individual for his/her own self happiness, others in society cannot deem this to be justifiable, even if it may be more beneficial to the thief to steal. Act utilitarianism does not guarantee the protection to the victim of theft in this example because, it s more focused on the greatest happiness and not on the consequences for others happiness. The greatest happiness may be given to either person in this situation depending on the stories of each (i.e. the reason for thief). Therefore, the idea of right seems not to be absolute. Mill however, recognizes this as a problem and introduces the theory of rule utilitarianism to compensate. Instead of looking at the consequences of a particular act, rule utilitarianism determines the rightness of an act by an alternative mean. That mean consists of first finding the best rule of conduct, this is done by finding the values of the consequences that follow a particular rule; The best rule is the rule, which has the greatest overall result of any given action. Hence, one must follow the actual rules of one s society. To illustrate, one ought not to steal because it is societies laws. Solving the issue of not recognizing the victims happiness due to the fact, according to Mill, that these laws are based on morally right objectives. However, rule utilitarianism is just an impotent way around the problem presented by the simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Current Diagnostic Criteria For Sarabeth s Disorders Current diagnostic criteria for SaraBeth s disorders is better explained by criterion A D in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and criterion A E in Anxiety Disorder due to another medical condition. OCD criteria A requires that the individual have the presence of obsession and/or compulsions. Criteria B requires that the obsessions and/or compulsions be time consuming (more than one hour) or cause clinically significant distress or impairments in important areas of function. SaraBeth has stated that can spend three to four hours during the day engaged in checking behaviors. Criteria C entails that the obsessions compulsive symptoms are not attributable to the physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition.
