The smudge tool in Photoshop can be used to remove blemishes or blend objects by selecting the smudge tool, hovering over the blemish, and gently moving the brush side to side or in a circular motion while holding down the left mouse button to remove the blemish and blend colors, making the skin appear smooth.

1. Smudge Tool
The smudge tool is effective when removing
blemishes or blending one object onto
another. Here I will be removing a blemish,
the blemish tool is set to 30 px which is large
enough for the small area I will be covering.

2. 1. I selected the smudge tool from the
tool bar on the left hand side of
Photoshop. I had to press down and
wait for the pop-down menu to
appear, where this tool could be
selected.
2. This is the original blemish
found on an image from the
photoshoot, expecting to use
it on a double page spread.
3. I hovered over the blemish to make sure
my mouse was in the right place, whilst
holding down th left mouse button I gently
moved the brush from side to side and in a
circular motion. This removed the blemish
completely whilst blending the colours,
making the skin appear smooth.
