The Negative Effects Of Technology Overload
John R. Airesman Mr. Jack Writing for the Humanities, period #1 17 November 2017 Technology
Overload Truck driver in Texas crash that killed 13 was texting is just one of many similar headlines
in the recent news (Lozano). In March of 2017, a 20 year old had been texting while driving which
caused him to slam into a church minibus. Thirteen innocent people were killed because he chose not
to wait until he was done driving to send the message. Obviously, he allowed an obsession with
technology to distract him from making safe choices. This technology overload not only will affect
him for the rest of his life, but it took the lives of thirteen others. While some news headlines show
that the overuse of technology creates unsafe physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The approved six hours of technology time easily can become nine hours, causing students to be less
productive. Not only does the overuse of technology create unproductive situations, it also creates
unsafe situations. AAA reports that, 11 teens die every day as a result of texting while driving.
According to a AAA poll, 94% of teen drivers acknowledge the dangers of texting and driving, but
35% admitted to doing it anyway. 21% of teen drivers involved in fatal accidents were distracted by
their cell phones ( Texting and ). Not only do technology distractions create unsafe situations for teens,
but it also affects adults. Out of 2.5 million car accidents in the United States, regardless of the driver
s age, 64% of them had a connection to cell phones (Hopkins). That means 1.6 million accidents were
potentially caused by distracted driving due to cell phones. Clearly these statistics show that while
teens understand the danger of using their cell phone while driving, it s not preventing them from
doing so. Furthermore, it is not just teens. Adults also are choosing to unsafely use technology as well.
Teens and adults need to stop using their phones in the car before they kill themselves and other
innocent drivers and pedestrians. Some may argue that using cell phones in the car is completely safe
as long as the driver uses a hands free system. Conventional wisdom

Vietnamese-American Social Customs
Every culture is unique because of their social customs. There are many different people with different
social and cultural backgrounds. Our group consists of two Chinese Americans and one Vietnamese
American. Our report is on the social customs of our respective cultures. Our purpose is to gather
information about our social customs so that we can inform our audience. We researched dining
etiquette, gift giving etiquette, wedding customs, festival celebrations, and family customs for Chinese
and Vietnamese cultures. We conducted our research using secondary sources, such as the Web, along
with primary sources, such as an interview or our personal experiences. Our audience can benefit

Friends would come to the bride s house for the preparation a day before the wedding. On the wedding
day, the groom and his best men would come for the bride and take her to his home along with the

serve tea for the elders. The Chinese banquet which would be held after the wedding ceremony has
become the peak of the whole celebration. All the guests would prepare a red envelope, which
contains money as a gift for the new couple. All the guests are arranged to have a seat in a specified
table, which is ordered by their relationship with the couple. The relatives are always arranged to sit in
the front tables in order to show respect, while the friends and colleagues would be seated in the other
tables. Usually, the couple would ask a friend to act as the host, who orchestrates the whole banquet

Questions On Http And Ftp
Q).HTTP and FTP?
HTTP :
HTTP is short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and includes the basic rules for displaying a web page
on the screen of a computer, smart phone, tablet, or any mobile device.
FTP :
FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive
large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration
files to network devices, such as switches and routers.
File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and
receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send
configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for
communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent.
Differences between HTTP and FTP :
The difference between the two is that
HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to
a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer
files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one
computer to another.
HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved
in the memory space. FTP, on the other hand, transfers the whole file to the another computer, and the
file is saved in memory.
HTTP does not

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES
ANSHUL and RAHUL
ABSTRACT
This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to
determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile,
shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific
composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of plies.
Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for example:
temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet conditions for 24
hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different tests are performed
based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged specimen. To study every
property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each property between the unaged
and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence on temperature and moisture.
This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent properties and showcase a trend.
Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength, flexural stiffness and fatigue life show
a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content while Poisson s ratio and impact strength
increase with increase in temperature and moisture content.

Tesco Speech
Thank you, please be seated, it is an honor for me to speak here for you today at the London School of
Economics. As you may know my name is Tom Johnson and I am the PR assistant for Tesco, which is
one of the largest retailers in the world, and that title have some expectations committed to it.
I am here today to give a speech for you about Tesco s current situation, and how we plan to deal with
it, as one of the largest retailers. With the changing consumer behavior in kept in mind.
If you come up with any questions during the show, you will have to remember them till the end,
where I will be answering all your answers. Our last twelve month have not been pretty, especially not

When the costumers use their club cards we get all sorts of data. So we know if we have to store more
of one particular item, or give it more or less space on the shelves. This is of cause totally anonymous.
For only one reason: to personalize the experience at Tesco.
The Asian department has done outstanding we have had huge success in Thailand and in China with
serving fresh fish. Something we do not focus as much on in the European stores.
We are also very proud of staff especially in Thailand, during the flooding the staff provided the
victims of the flooding with good and fresh food, an outstanding performance.
The focus of our new initiatives will only be domestic, so we do not have a lot on our plate. We need
to focus on our quality, together with our new warmer look and feel. Make it feel like the local grocer,
with freshly baked bread and fresh vegetables. We have also give our own everyday value products a
whole new more appealing design, that indicates quality.
Clicks and Bricks is our most groundbreaking initiative, we to keep up with today s technology
otherwise we will not be on the market in the future, because of that we have created a whole new
Tesco app, where you can order your food on your phone, while you are at home, and simply just pick
up what you ordered when you get there. Or you can get your groceries delivered to your address. We

Chemistry Advances in Computers with the Work of...
Chemistry and technology has allowed so many advancements in today s society. It has allowed us to
have faster computers, better displays, bigger hard disks(hard drives),and it gives us the ability to
work, to create, and to play. The main focus point of my research is how chemistry has advanced
computers with the work of transistors. A transistor is a semiconductor device that can amplify, control
and generate electrical signals. Transistors look like integrated circuts. They are placed in micro
processors, known as the heart of a micro processor. As times go on transistors decrease in size and
increase in capability.
What was society like before the discovery of your technology? The discovery of transistors has been
around ever since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is your technolgyaffecting society today? In my opinion technology is having a negative affect
on society. You walk into resturants and you see a family everyone of their faces shoved into a phone.
But on the flip side it can be a positive affect. You see what all transistors do in all sorts of technology.
You have computers with games that look as if they are real life. Like if you were living in the right
part of the world you could look outside your window and see the same thing you are seeing and
hearing on the screen. You have an iPod that can fit in the palm of your hand yet it can hold tens of
thousands of songs. That is enough to play for a whole year! Technologly has come so far with it s
pros and cons of the world affect to all the advancements. You can have the world at your fingertips,
as long as you do not have a flip phone. But if you had an iPhone you could hold music, apps, and
much much more.
In your opinion, what impact will your technonly have on the future? In my opinion the future of
technolog wil have both a positive and negative affect, the same as what technology is doing now. The
technology of transistors will continue to have society in awe of what ever new product will come out
next. They will become friends with who ever gets the new product first. We will ask for the things for
christmas and boast about it too all of our friends. Because we have most storage for all of our stuff.

Nt1310 Unit 3 Lab Report
Introduction
In this lab we will be studying electric field plotting through the use of various apparatus. The
equipment we will be using includes a digital voltmeter, voltage probes, carbonized acetate sheets,
battery, and other tools of measurement. The goal of the lab is for us is to be able to plot lines for
charge distributions and to create electric field lines by providing an electric current through
carbonized sheets. Once we have completed constructing the electric field lines for the plate charge
distribution, we will continue to calculate for the electric field (E = Vx) and begin to plot for the
dipole charge distribution. When we have collected all the data needed, we then will finish calculating
for all the remaining variables and complete the rest of the lab report.
Procedure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After setting the voltmeter to 20 V, we were able to determine the voltage between the 2 plates to be
2.6 V. After determining the voltage between the plates, we proceeded to record voltage of the next
equipotential point per row and other points on the grid where it has no potential difference starting at
point (8,9). To figure out which points had no potential difference, the voltmeter had to equate to ~0 V
in order to plot the equipotential line. My partner and I repeated this process until we have a total of 7
equipotential line between the parallel plates. After we calculated for the electric field, we proceeded
to plot for equipotentials and field lines of the dipole arrangement. First, we determined the voltage
between the poles to be 2.87 V. Afterwards, we repeated the process as the previous arrangement by
obtaining the voltage for each equipotential line and plotting for its field lines. Once we have obtained
all the data needed, we proceeded to complete the latter portion of the lab

Examples Of Irony In The Plague
The main irony in The Plague is the way Camus treats freedom throughout the book. The people of
Oran become prisoners of the plague and the whole city becomes quarantined by the Prefect when
death tolls hit 30 people a day. It can be questioned whether they were really free before the plague,
considering the way they lived out their lives from day to day. Every day the populace would wake up
work and then gamble in the evenings and a lot of people in Oran take their loved ones for granted.
Only when the plague becomes really bad and people start to die or are ultimately separated by
quarantine from their friends, lovers and families do they realize how they should have loved and
cared for them.
In the very beginning of the epidemic, the citizens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Camus was an atheist and didn t believe that death, suffering, and human existence has any real
rational meaning. Since Camus didn t believe in God or the devil, Camus saw humans as mortals,
living under a crazy and completely absurd death sentence. However, Camus did believe that people
are capable of giving their lives meaning hence when the people of Oran were starting to give up, they
banded together and worked to end the death and suffering of those that have been infected or affected
by the plague. Although Camus was an atheist, in The Plague religion can be found in the book
coming from the Jesuit priest, Father Paneloux. He preached that this was God s way of separating the
good from the bad, saying that this only happened because God s compassion for the evil doing in the
town ran out and it was time for the people there to realize the real meaning behind their lives.
(Malcolm 26) Paneloux basically believed that the plague was for the good of the townspeople.
Although this is here, Father Paneloux is the only character with religious beliefs. Other main
characters such as Dr. Rieux, John Tarrou and Raymond Rambert lack those religious beliefs and
believe that there is no logical reason behind the cause of the

industry (Cigna vs. Aetna) and an evaluation of their innovation processes.
Current Situation Analysis A recent survey of the nation s top CEO s concludes that innovation
remains the lifeblood of business. For CEO s today, it s all about achieving growth and efficiency
through innovation. It s not about product innovation so much anymore as about innovating business
models, process, culture and management. (April, 2006). In comparing Aetna and Cigna, it s

Industry experts note that major transformations are under way in health insurance, and cite several
major drivers that demand innovation to protect future success: (Singh Sawhney, 2006)
· Rising healthcare costs are pressuring employers, who are moving toward consumer directed and
defined contribution benefit plan designs. This means that consumers will be challenged at new levels
to manage their health costs and benefits, and they ll need unprecedented levels of access to
information to manage their decisions. With consumers holding more of the financial responsibility,
they ll have new motivation to demand consumer friendly services and information. (Singh Sawhney,
2006)
· Competition is forcing consolidation of health insurers. Two years ago, there were fifteen major for
profit insurance plans that controlled the national market. They have consolidated into nine players,
and further changes are predicted. (Singh Sawhney, 2006)
· As a result of changing business models and industry consolidation, fewer companies are competing
for fewer covered lives in a stagnant market. In short, the commercial and group

The Rise Of Wilsons Tax Reform
Tax reforms started in 1916 when the Wilson administration decided to cooperate with a group of
insurgent democrats on war time financing, which was majorly progressive taxation. This was
important because it led to attacking the wealthy, special privilege, and public corruption. The
administration embraced this taxation as means to achieve social justice. Another major element to
Wilsons administration was redistributional taxation. This helped drive between socialism and
unmediated capitalism. The major debate at the time was over the question, What stake does society
have in corporate profits? The debates outcome created soak the rich income taxation. Wilson signed
the Revenue Act of 1916. This was the first tax on personal incomes.

After leaving Truman Library, I proceeded to Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library as planned
on June 2nd. When making the plan, I significantly underestimated by reading speed. As a result, even
I went over much more folders than planned; it only took me three days in this library. Here is a list of
the boxes I have consulted during the first week of June:
DDE Library, White House Central Files, Official Files, 1953 1961, Box 87, 88
DDE Library, White House Central Files, General Files, Box 227, 228, 686, 937, 1285
DDE Library, White House Central Files, Alpha Files, Box 2503, 3197
These eight boxes contain the missing members of the armed forces during Eisenhower s presidency,
as well as prisoners of war and memorials. These boxes keep letters between family members and the
White House shortly after the Korean War (up to 1961). Most of them are the families cry for
returning their relatives, though most of them still remain missing today. An interesting phenomenon
is that the words of these families gradually developed from begging to furious, then to sarcastic. The
family members also launched a campaign by sending back medals or personal artifacts of their sons
or husbands to remind the president of the missing servicemen and to criticize the governments
contact with the Soviet and China. The Box 1285 holds the government policies in dealing with a

Horses Reflect The Thematic Idea Of Freedom In Horses
In the book when the emperor was divine, the motif of horses reflect the thematic idea of freedom. In

Americans were placed in internment camps. The little boy in the book long to be free, just like the

they symbolize freedom.

Progressive Era: The supreme court frequently began using the Tenth Amendment during the
progressive era. In various literatures I found of supreme court cases, it is seen that often times state
laws that established a maximum of work hours allow and/or to create working conditions. Various
legislation that were created were often times declared unconstitutional by the supreme court.
Legislation that were intended to help people were ruled unconstitutional because it supposedly
actually harmed workers by taking away their freedom to work long hours for low wages in such
conditions. Certain legal interpretation influenced Justices reasoning, and they decided that the choice

Color Imagery In A Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro
In A Red Dress 1946 , a short story by Alice Munro, uses the significance of color imagery throughout
the story. The color red represents nonconformity, standing out or being unique This is because of the
narrator s unwillingness to be a unique girl. However, the color blue represents conformity, being able
to blend in with society, and the ability to be like everyone else due to the narrator s lack of courage to
be unique and to be herself. Both of these colors point out different aspects of the narrator s inner self
and show how much she desires to hide her unique red self and appear blue. Color imagery is used
throughout the short story, A Red Dress 1946 in order for the author to demonstrate the inner thoughts
of the narrator. In the short story, A Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro, Color imagery is used for
signifying a girls point of view of her world and her own self by using the color red which represents
nonconformity. The narrator has only a slight interest in being red, but she really wants to be blue, just
like everyone else. Munro writes, When I was asked a question in class, any simple little question at
all...that I had blood on my skirt .(2) The narrator is just so nervous about being red she is thinking of
bad things that can happen with the color red. She is thinking of all the bad times the color red could
do a girl badly, just like a girls period could leak at any moment. In A Red Dress 1946 , a short story
by Alice Munro, she uses Color Imagery to show the significance of the narrator s view of the color
red and all the Evil about it.
In a short story by Alice Munro, A Red Dress 1946 , Color Imagery is used to represent the inner
feelings of the narrator and how she wants to be blue. The narrator s dream is to live a blue life, a life
where she is just like everyone else. Munro writes, when I was unaware of the world s opinion. Now,
grown wiser, I wished for dresses like those my friend Lonnie had, bought at Beale s store (1). Lonnie
is able to buy things like her dresses from stores which just makes the narrator want to be blue. The

Warrior was both a sail and steam ship and was 420 feet long and 9000 tons and had forty 8 inch
smooth bore and 7 inch rifled guns. The HMS Warrior was easily disabled due to the positioning of
the propeller, which could be destroyed with a lucky shot. What makes the Monitor superior to the
HMS Warrior is its iron plating making it impossible to sink the Monitor with regular cannon fire and
ramming rendering the wooden HMS Warrior useless against the powerful union ironclad warship.

Education From Rabelais Perspective
Education from Rabelais Perspective
The Renaissance altered centuries of thought in Europe. One figured who contributed to
revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world. In
his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century life
especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those during
his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was extremely
familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself studied in
these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the Middle Ages, but
he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period.
Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance.
Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection to
seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s rants
about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by scholars,
was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from the texts
overall value. The author also uses Gargantua, Pantagruel s father, who lived during the prior period to
emphasize the many additional specific failures of medieval education. He writes Pantagruel a

Tea drinking cultures about U.K. and China

Dr. Alan Lai
Abstract
Every nation will have their different cultures, like the United States is a multi cultural society, Japan
and China is a democratic society trip. Every culture show different characteristics of their civic. And
in this paper I would like to show you about the tea drinking cultures. Every single thing can show
culture of their country. I working in a tea house and I would know about different people their
different thinking about tea. I would like to do a compare in this paper.

Examinations and a culture of merit remain greatly valued in China today. In recent years, a number of
New Confucians (not to be confused with Neo Confucianism) have advocated that democratic ideals
and human rights are quite compatible with traditional Confucian Asian values . With the rise of
European economic and military power beginning in the mid 19th century, non Chinese systems of
social and political organization gained adherents in China. Some of these would be reformers totally
rejected China s cultural legacy, while others sought to combine the strengths of Chinese and
European cultures. In essence, the history of 20th century China is one of experimentation with new
systems of social, political, and economic organization that would allow for the reintegration of the
nation in the wake of dynastic collapse.
Teas culture
Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, leaf buds, and internodes of various cultivars and sub
varieties of the Camellia sinuses plant, processed and cured using various methods (Tea Guardian,
2010). Tea also refers to the aromatic beverage prepared from the cured leaves by combination with
hot or boiling water, and is the common name for the Camellia sinuses plant itself. After water, tea is
the most widely consumed beverage in the world. It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavor
which many enjoy (Penelope Ody, 2000).
There are at least six varieties of tea: white, yellow,

The Public Health Dental Hygienist
In the first case study, the public health dental hygienist is responsible for evaluating the daily
fluoridation test that is submitted by each state to make sure it is in the optimal range 0.7 to 1.2
milligrams per liter. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2011) She is also responsible
for working with the state if the test results do not measure up the standards set forth by the CDC. In
addition the dental hygienist reports all of these results to Centers for Disease control and Prevention
(CDC) so the CDC can determine a national average. This case study shows the assessment part of the
essential public health services. In United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),
Healthy People 2020 (2011), the report talks about how many improvements have occurred in oral
health but there is still a lot more improvement needed. The report further explains how water
fluoridation has been one of the most efficient ways to reduce decay across the nation. Mostly
everyone has access to water and if the water is fluoridated, then those with little or no access to
dental care are getting preventative dental care in the form of a fluoride regimen in their daily water
intake. (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2011) Given this, it would only make sense that the government
would employ a dental professional to assess the water fluoridation in every state. As assessment is
usually conducted at two phases in any project. (Burt, 2005) First it is conducted to

Progenitor Lab Effects
Direct effects of Estrogenic Chemicals on Human Prostate Stem and Progenitor Cells
To directly assess the actions of estrogens on prostate stem and progenitor cells and to evaluate the
relevance of these findings in the human prostate gland, we recently derived in vitro and in vivo
systems utilizing primary cells cultured from prostates of young, disease free organ donors. Adult
prostate stem cells were enriched by FACS (CD49fhi, Trop2hi) or 3 D matrigel culture to form
prostaspheres (PS). In the PS assay, ~0.5% of the primary epithelial cells were capable of survival and
cell divisions (both symmetric and asymmetric), forming clonal spheres of stem and progenitor cells

Prostaspheres containing stem and undifferentiated progenitor cells were dispersed, combined with
inductive urogenital sinus mesenchyme from an embryonic rat and grafted under the renal capsule of
adult male nude mice [#3549]. At one month, the engrafted cells had formed normal prostate like
structures with differentiated human prostate epithelium that expressed prostate specific antigen
(PSA). Once mature tissues formed, treatment of the host with elevated estradiol levels with
testosterone support induced lesions in the human prostate epithelium over time, progressing from
hyperplasia, squamous metaplasia and high grade PIN to adenocarcinoma at a low incidence by 4
months. To test whether BPA could influence this process, host mice were orally exposed to low doses
of BPA (peak unconjugated BPA levels of ~0.4 to 1.3 ng/ml) during the first two weeks following
stem progenitor cell engraftment to recapitulate developmental exposure. The incidence of malignancy
in the human prostate epithelium significantly increased from 13% in oil exposed controls to 33 36%
in tissues briefly exposed to BPA followed by 2 4 months of elevated estradiol with testosterone. This
further increased to 45% cancerous lesions when the PS cells were exposed to BPA in vitro followed
by 2 weeks of in vivo

To Kill A Mockingbird Chapter 5 Analysis
I chose the vocabulary words emboldened (courage), and apprehension (anxiety or fear something bad
or unpleasant will happen). The reason they apply to comprehending chapter 5 and the book is
because courage is a major characteristic of the underdog, and without it they become the average
person who is unable to overcome disadvantages exceedingly well. In particular courage was a key
aspect in the way Freirich approached the children with leukemia. In contrast, apprehension is a
quality that the underdog is not familiar with, alternatively it is a trait of a person who is not willing to
take risks, chances, think outside of the box, or oppose the norm . Hence, the difference between these
two qualities is a major factor when considering the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Gladwell painted a good picture of the sorrow felt due to the severity of the affects on the
children from drugs, procedures, and imminent death more often than not. Gladwell gave extensive
detail to drive the point home of how audacious it was not to think outside of the box or form an
unconvential strategy to help save these childrens lives. In order to really understand the general
atmosphere, which appeared to be morgue like; the attitudes of the doctors who worked on that ward
issuing death sentences providing no hope to their patients needed to be made crystal clear. Otherwise,
it would be difficult for your average person who has empathy to understand some of Freirichs
approaches as they were viewed as haineous and unempathetic. Even though Freirich did not possess a
great amount of bedside manner, he did have empathy for the continued torture that the children were
experiencing; relative to his childhood. Freirich could empathize because he also had a tormented
period of life, his ability to emotionally express this was void. In essence the lack of affection as a
child affected his genteel nature in adulthood. Freirich is able to handle these factors in the Cancer
ward because he immediately began attempting to conform to the heinous conditions by finding a
resolution or way to improve the statistics. The difference in Freirich and your average person is his
resilience in opposing the giants in these circumstances despite the consequences. Once again similar
to the underdog strategies used in previous chapters such as Randadive and Boeis; different unique
strategies are utilized to overcome disadvantages attaining success in impossible

Cultural Differences Paper
Cultural Differences Paper

There are cultural differences within all the communities that make up the world, we are constantly
surrounded and reminded of these other cultures. In this paper cultural differences will be discussed
from the film Why Did I Get Married? which is an African American movie about the hardships one
goes through in marriage, friendships, and trust. This paper is going to give specific examples of Hall
s perspective of culture on the screen and Hofstede s five dimensions that are reflected in a particular
pattern. Examples of both verbal and non verbal intercultural communication and how they relate to

This movie is targeted for African American culture, so a lot of the language, slang, and stereotypes
were evident in this film and so there wasn t much explanation, it is simply something that is just
known as it unfolds in the movie. If someone is watching this movie and they are Asian they might not
understand much of what goes on in the movie, especially if they are unaware of the African American
culture. An example would be when the girls of the group go shopping and they are in a store looking
at lingerie and shawls made for winter weather, the shopkeeper came up to them and simply said we
don t keep cash in the store now of course one of the ladies went a little crazy because she realized
that she had said that because of their skin color. Hofstede s five dimensions of culture are power
distance, individualism v collectivism, masculinity v femininity, uncertainty avoidance, and long term
v short term time orientation. In the film the five dimensions are present, in the dimension of power
distance it clear with the powerful positions that all the characters have within their professional lives.
The way they live and own lavish houses leads to believe that they don t believe they are equals to
everyone else because of their status. Most of the couples demand respect and expect not to be
question in their motives, which is a higher power context. Next is individualism versus collectivism,

How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay
How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the
nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist movement.
The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical aid. The first and
the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members of the Irish Diaspora in
the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the money given to violent
groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led to the purchasing of arms or
goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major organizations that did this was
Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt with arms smuggling and fund raising
and thus were closely aligned and allied with the IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid
in terms of funding can be tracked in the same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be
tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980 81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest
conditions in their prison in which a few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid
because it led to not only an increase of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it
but it also changed the image of Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the
organization less radical which meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships

The And New Zealand Media Essay
This essay will demonstrate how both American and New Zealand media outlets shape and filter all
their stories and decide what people see and think about, and how to think about certain stories; also
known as Agenda Setting .
New Zealand and America interpret news completely differently, what is important in America may
have zero relevance to New Zealand media and vis versa. Agenda setting is more obvious in the New
York times, they report on specific events to endorse and highlight events or issues in an attempt
persuade their audiences how to think and feel about the stories. Whereas New Zealand news outlets
have a less hidden agenda, trying to remain unbiased in their reporting and changing the layout and
topics on their homepage continuously. This essay will be supported through Severin Tankard s
discussion of Media Framing in Effects of Mass Communication, and also in Jim Macnamara s
concept of agenda setting in Media Effects: A Review of 50 years of Research, and lastly, M.E.
McComb s theory of agenda setting in The Agenda Setting function of Mass Media.
The New York times focused on current events of the Olympics and Donald Trump with the
presidential campaign, more serious and hard news. Whereas Stuff reported on human interest stories
and aimless national and international news. Example being in the NY times, the two long main
stories on both days are referring to the Olympics and Michael Phelps. But Stuff only mentioned

The Imbalance Between Uniformity And Diversity
To match beliefs about diversity with practice, it becomes necessary to address the imbalance between
uniformity and diversity. Australia is the biggest example of having multiculturalism. In 2011, the
Census revealed that over a quarter (26%) of Australia s population was born overseas and a further
one fifth (20%) had at least one overseas born parent. This pattern of migration is evident in the make
up of the richly diverse society that has been recorded in the 2011 Census. This diversity can be seen
in the variety of languages, religions, ancestries and birthplaces reported by Australians (Australian
Bureau of Statistics 21 June 2102). Migration is social, cultural, technological, political and economic
integration, which also have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A child builds his basic life concepts at Primary age and when he is moved to a different environment
that never existed in his conceptual knowledge, it brings difficulty to him in adjustment. This
adjustment issues often lead the students with low self esteem and they start feeling neglected. Most of
the immigrated students in Australia have different culture, different religious beliefs and different
language. Most sensitive dimension of diversity in schools is different religious beliefs of the students.
Equity in schools cannot be achieved by ignoring the different religious beliefs of its students.
To claim equity in schools it is necessary to eradicate the social injustice issues with the students
having different religious beliefs. Talking about religious diversity in a classroom, here is an example.
Upon entering his classroom during homeroom period, Mr. Ortiz, an eighth grade teacher, noticed
several students crowded around two of their peers, Nikhil and Jasper. Nikhil was the boy who
immigrated to Australia the previous year and was a Hinduism follower. Nikhil and Jasper were
arguing about something Nikhil was wearing. Mr. Ortiz asked the other student to explain the
situation. Mr. Ortiz came to know that Nikhil was wearing a swastika pendant in the memory of her
late grandmother, but that pendant was something similar to Nazi symbol which created disruption to
some students. Mr. Ortiz asked Nikhil if he knew

The Ethics Of Being Earnest Essay
As I understood, The Importance of Being Earnest is on the ethics of the British high society, and it
utilizes comedic drama to do so. For instance, the use of comedy taunts the measures to which the
high society holds themselves. The gentry had faith in orchestrated relational unions, unions between
families to contain the riches among the few. Moms searched out courteous fellows of that particular
high society quality for their sensitive little girls. Woman Bracknell solicits a number from questions
that she accepts are fundamental for a decent spouse for her little girl: what is his pay, how old is he,
where does he live, what are his governmental issues. The most vital inquiry, in any case, is who is his
family, on the grounds that the family name is what is imperative in an enduring marriage among the
high society. Wilde, be that as it may, spoofs the circumstance, as Jack does not have a family. Jack
originated from a to some degree substantial, dark calfskin purse, with handles on it, rather than
having guardians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is normal in a sentiment. Through Cecily s defined engagement, I studied the detail of the high society,
that as opposed to honing German or finding out about financial aspects, the privileged wastes away

Fly Fishing has become more and more popular throughout the years. Many would argue that fly
fishing is their religion of choice. This article goes into detail about how fly fishing is a religion to
certain people. People will travel the world to see in search of the perfect location to fish. So how did
fly fishing get to be considered a re religion? According to Samuel Snyder, scholars began to examine
and focus on topics that were not traditionally considered religious. David Chidester and Robert Orsi
pushed the scholars to investigate the different forms of religion throughout the world. As a result
scholars such as Rebecca Gould combined lived religion and nature religion to form lived religions of

Computer Hacking Is The Scale Of The Problem Essay
Computer hacking has been becoming more and more of a threat in recent years and is being brought
to the public eye more often. Large and small corporations alike, as well as individuals are at risk of
losing personal information to hackers, opening up doors to cyber attacks and theft. Statistics show
that half of American adults have been hacked this year alone (Pagliery). Security experts and law
enforcement say that hackers are actively scanning merchants networks for ways to gain remote
access to their systems. The Department of homeland Security and Secret service recently, estimated
that more than 1,000 businesses in the United States had been infected with malware programmed to
siphon payment card details from cash registers. It is believed that many of these companies had no
idea they were breached and sharing the information of thousands of customer s credit card
information. A main reason for concern with cybercrime is the scale of the problem. If it were a series
of on off events people might be less concerned with it however, it is an ongoing problem.
Just a few days ago for example, hackers broke into the debit and credit card payment networks of two
of the nation s most popular food chains: Albertson s and SuperValu. Impacted by this breach are all of
the stores related to these chains including: Acme, Jewel Osco, Shaw s, and Star Markets, as well as
Cub Foods, Hornbacher s, Shop N Save, and Shoppers Food and Pharmacy (Pagliery). As of now it is

  • 2. The Negative Effects Of Technology Overload John R. Airesman Mr. Jack Writing for the Humanities, period #1 17 November 2017 Technology Overload Truck driver in Texas crash that killed 13 was texting is just one of many similar headlines in the recent news (Lozano). In March of 2017, a 20 year old had been texting while driving which caused him to slam into a church minibus. Thirteen innocent people were killed because he chose not to wait until he was done driving to send the message. Obviously, he allowed an obsession with technology to distract him from making safe choices. This technology overload not only will affect him for the rest of his life, but it took the lives of thirteen others. While some news headlines show that the overuse of technology creates unsafe physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The approved six hours of technology time easily can become nine hours, causing students to be less productive. Not only does the overuse of technology create unproductive situations, it also creates unsafe situations. AAA reports that, 11 teens die every day as a result of texting while driving. According to a AAA poll, 94% of teen drivers acknowledge the dangers of texting and driving, but 35% admitted to doing it anyway. 21% of teen drivers involved in fatal accidents were distracted by their cell phones ( Texting and ). Not only do technology distractions create unsafe situations for teens, but it also affects adults. Out of 2.5 million car accidents in the United States, regardless of the driver s age, 64% of them had a connection to cell phones (Hopkins). That means 1.6 million accidents were potentially caused by distracted driving due to cell phones. Clearly these statistics show that while teens understand the danger of using their cell phone while driving, it s not preventing them from doing so. Furthermore, it is not just teens. Adults also are choosing to unsafely use technology as well. Teens and adults need to stop using their phones in the car before they kill themselves and other innocent drivers and pedestrians. Some may argue that using cell phones in the car is completely safe as long as the driver uses a hands free system. Conventional wisdom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Friends would come to the bride s house for the preparation a day before the wedding. On the wedding day, the groom and his best men would come for the bride and take her to his home along with the dowry. The Chinese banquet which would be held after the wedding ceremony has become the peak of the whole celebration. All the guests are arranged to have a seat in a specified table, which is ordered by their relationship with the couple. The relatives are always arranged to sit in the front tables in order to show respect, while the friends and colleagues would be seated in the other tables. Usually, the couple would ask a friend to act as the host, who orchestrates the whole banquet process. When the banquet begins, the bride needs to change into another casual dress. HTTP : HTTP is short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and includes the basic rules for displaying a web page on the screen of a computer, smart phone, tablet, or any mobile device. FTP : FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration files to network devices, such as switches and routers. File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent. Differences between HTTP and FTP : The difference between the two is that HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one computer to another. HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved in the memory space. • 5. Temperature And Humidity Effects On Composite Material... TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES ANSHUL and RAHUL ABSTRACT This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile, shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of plies. Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for example: temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet conditions for 24 hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different tests are performed based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged specimen. To study every property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each property between the unaged and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence on temperature and moisture. This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent properties and showcase a trend. Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength, flexural stiffness and fatigue life show a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content while Poisson s ratio and impact strength increase with increase in temperature and moisture content. It has allowed us to have faster computers, better displays, bigger hard disks(hard drives),and it gives us the ability to work, to create, and to play. The main focus point of my research is how chemistry has advanced computers with the work of transistors. A transistor is a semiconductor device that can amplify, control and generate electrical signals. Transistors look like integrated circuts. They are placed in micro processors, known as the heart of a micro processor. As times go on transistors decrease in size and increase in capability. How is your technolgyaffecting society today? In my opinion technology is having a negative affect on society. You walk into resturants and you see a family everyone of their faces shoved into a phone. But on the flip side it can be a positive affect. You see what all transistors do in all sorts of technology. You have computers with games that look as if they are real life. Like if you were living in the right part of the world you could look outside your window and see the same thing you are seeing and hearing on the screen. You have an iPod that can fit in the palm of your hand yet it can hold tens of thousands of songs. That is enough to play for a whole year! Technologly has come so far with it s pros and cons of the world affect to all the advancements. You can have the world at your fingertips, as long as you do not have a flip phone. But if you had an iPhone you could hold music, apps, and much much more. In your opinion, what impact will your technonly have on the future? In my opinion the future of technolog wil have both a positive and negative affect, the same as what technology is doing now. The technology of transistors will continue to have society in awe of what ever new product will come out next. They will become friends with who ever gets the new product first. We will ask for the things for christmas and boast about it too all of our friends. Because we have most storage for all of our stuff. Transistors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Nt1310 Unit 3 Lab Report Introduction In this lab we will be studying electric field plotting through the use of various apparatus. The equipment we will be using includes a digital voltmeter, voltage probes, carbonized acetate sheets, battery, and other tools of measurement. The goal of the lab is for us is to be able to plot lines for charge distributions and to create electric field lines by providing an electric current through carbonized sheets. Once we have completed constructing the electric field lines for the plate charge distribution, we will continue to calculate for the electric field (E = Vx) and begin to plot for the dipole charge distribution. When we have collected all the data needed, we then will finish calculating for all the remaining variables and complete the rest of the lab report. Procedure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After setting the voltmeter to 20 V, we were able to determine the voltage between the 2 plates to be 2.6 V. After determining the voltage between the plates, we proceeded to record voltage of the next equipotential point per row and other points on the grid where it has no potential difference starting at point (8,9). To figure out which points had no potential difference, the voltmeter had to equate to ~0 V in order to plot the equipotential line. My partner and I repeated this process until we have a total of 7 equipotential line between the parallel plates. After we calculated for the electric field, we proceeded to plot for equipotentials and field lines of the dipole arrangement. First, we determined the voltage between the poles to be 2.87 V. Afterwards, we repeated the process as the previous arrangement by obtaining the voltage for each equipotential line and plotting for its field lines. • 9. Examples Of Irony In The Plague The main irony in The Plague is the way Camus treats freedom throughout the book. The people of Oran become prisoners of the plague and the whole city becomes quarantined by the Prefect when death tolls hit 30 people a day. It can be questioned whether they were really free before the plague, considering the way they lived out their lives from day to day. Every day the populace would wake up work and then gamble in the evenings and a lot of people in Oran take their loved ones for granted. Only when the plague becomes really bad and people start to die or are ultimately separated by quarantine from their friends, lovers and families do they realize how they should have loved and cared for them. In the very beginning of the epidemic, the citizens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camus was an atheist and didn t believe that death, suffering, and human existence has any real rational meaning. Since Camus didn t believe in God or the devil, Camus saw humans as mortals, living under a crazy and completely absurd death sentence. However, Camus did believe that people are capable of giving their lives meaning hence when the people of Oran were starting to give up, they banded together and worked to end the death and suffering of those that have been infected or affected by the plague. Although Camus was an atheist, in The Plague religion can be found in the book coming from the Jesuit priest, Father Paneloux. He preached that this was God s way of separating the good from the bad, saying that this only happened because God s compassion for the evil doing in the town ran out and it was time for the people there to realize the real meaning behind their lives. (Malcolm 26) Paneloux basically believed that the plague was for the good of the townspeople. Although this is here, Father Paneloux is the only character with religious beliefs. Other main characters such as Dr. Rieux, John Tarrou and Raymond Rambert lack those religious beliefs and believe that there is no logical reason behind the cause of the ... • 22. Education From Rabelais Perspective Education from Rabelais Perspective The Renaissance altered centuries of thought in Europe. One figured who contributed to revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world. In his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century life especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those during his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was extremely familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself studied in these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the Middle Ages, but he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period. Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance. Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection to seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s rants about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by scholars, was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from the texts overall value. The author also uses Gargantua, Pantagruel s father, who lived during the prior period to emphasize the many additional specific failures of medieval education. He writes Pantagruel a ... In United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 (2011), the report talks about how many improvements have occurred in oral health but there is still a lot more improvement needed. The report further explains how water fluoridation has been one of the most efficient ways to reduce decay across the nation. Mostly everyone has access to water and if the water is fluoridated, then those with little or no access to dental care are getting preventative dental care in the form of a fluoride regimen in their daily water intake. In order to really understand the general atmosphere, which appeared to be morgue like; the attitudes of the doctors who worked on that ward issuing death sentences providing no hope to their patients needed to be made crystal clear. • 28. How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist movement. The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical aid. The first and the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members of the Irish Diaspora in the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the money given to violent groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led to the purchasing of arms or goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major organizations that did this was Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt with arms smuggling and fund raising and thus were closely aligned and allied with the IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid in terms of funding can be tracked in the same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980 81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest conditions in their prison in which a few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid because it led to not only an increase of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it but it also changed the image of Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the organization less radical which meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New Zealand and America interpret news completely differently, what is important in America may have zero relevance to New Zealand media and vis versa. Agenda setting is more obvious in the New York times, they report on specific events to endorse and highlight events or issues in an attempt persuade their audiences how to think and feel about the stories. • 32. The Imbalance Between Uniformity And Diversity To match beliefs about diversity with practice, it becomes necessary to address the imbalance between uniformity and diversity. Australia is the biggest example of having multiculturalism. In 2011, the Census revealed that over a quarter (26%) of Australia s population was born overseas and a further one fifth (20%) had at least one overseas born parent. This pattern of migration is evident in the make up of the richly diverse society that has been recorded in the 2011 Census. This diversity can be seen in the variety of languages, religions, ancestries and birthplaces reported by Australians (Australian Bureau of Statistics 21 June 2102). Migration is social, cultural, technological, political and economic integration, which also have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A child builds his basic life concepts at Primary age and when he is moved to a different environment that never existed in his conceptual knowledge, it brings difficulty to him in adjustment. This adjustment issues often lead the students with low self esteem and they start feeling neglected. Most of the immigrated students in Australia have different culture, different religious beliefs and different language. Most sensitive dimension of diversity in schools is different religious beliefs of the students. Equity in schools cannot be achieved by ignoring the different religious beliefs of its students. To claim equity in schools it is necessary to eradicate the social injustice issues with the students having different religious beliefs. Talking about religious diversity in a classroom, here is an example. Upon entering his classroom during homeroom period, Mr. Ortiz, an eighth grade teacher, noticed several students crowded around two of their peers, Nikhil and Jasper. Nikhil was the boy who immigrated to Australia the previous year and was a Hinduism follower. Nikhil and Jasper were arguing about something Nikhil was wearing. Mr. Ortiz asked the other student to explain the situation. Mr. Ortiz came to know that Nikhil was wearing a swastika pendant in the memory of her late grandmother, but that pendant was something similar to Nazi symbol which created disruption to some students. Mr. Ortiz asked Nikhil if he knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Ethics Of Being Earnest Essay As I understood, The Importance of Being Earnest is on the ethics of the British high society, and it utilizes comedic drama to do so. For instance, the use of comedy taunts the measures to which the high society holds themselves. The gentry had faith in orchestrated relational unions, unions between families to contain the riches among the few. Moms searched out courteous fellows of that particular high society quality for their sensitive little girls. Woman Bracknell solicits a number from questions that she accepts are fundamental for a decent spouse for her little girl: what is his pay, how old is he, where does he live, what are his governmental issues. The most vital inquiry, in any case, is who is his family, on the grounds that the family name is what is imperative in an enduring marriage among the high society. Wilde, be that as it may, spoofs the circumstance, as Jack does not have a family. Jack originated from a to some degree substantial, dark calfskin purse, with handles on it, rather than having guardians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cecily, Jack s ward, herself accidentally derides the establishment of marriage, whimsically making an anecdotal storyline based off of the books of the period. In her journal (diary), she composes of her engagement to Earnest, after a few breakups and her own buy of a ring for him to give her, since that is normal in a sentiment. Through Cecily s defined engagement, I studied the detail of the high society, that as opposed to honing German or finding out about financial aspects, the privileged wastes away their opportunity ... • 35. Computer Hacking Is The Scale Of The Problem Essay Computer hacking has been becoming more and more of a threat in recent years and is being brought to the public eye more often. Large and small corporations alike, as well as individuals are at risk of losing personal information to hackers, opening up doors to cyber attacks and theft. Statistics show that half of American adults have been hacked this year alone (Pagliery). Security experts and law enforcement say that hackers are actively scanning merchants networks for ways to gain remote access to their systems. The Department of homeland Security and Secret service recently, estimated that more than 1,000 businesses in the United States had been infected with malware programmed to siphon payment card details from cash registers. It is believed that many of these companies had no idea they were breached and sharing the information of thousands of customer s credit card information. A main reason for concern with cybercrime is the scale of the problem. If it were a series of on off events people might be less concerned with it however, it is an ongoing problem. Just a few days ago for example, hackers broke into the debit and credit card payment networks of two of the nation s most popular food chains: Albertson s and SuperValu. Impacted by this breach are all of the stores related to these chains including: Acme, Jewel Osco, Shaw s, and Star Markets, as well as Cub Foods, Hornbacher s, Shop N Save, and Shoppers Food and Pharmacy (Pagliery). As of now it is unclear how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
