Research Paper On Lee Bektash
By Lelet Lumani Did you know, the world s fastest man lives in St Albans, and no, it isn t Usain
Bolt. His name is Lee Bektash, and he is a driver for FIAT Chrysler (who supply the car) and
Mopar Racing (who supply all the parts). He s the number one drag car racer in Australia, as
well as holding the world record for the quickest time with a small block powered car and
naturally aspirated car for the quarter mile 6.87 seconds, clocked at a speed of 200.14mph. I
recently spoke to Lee about a few things; his childhood, and the reasons he became such a huge
car fan. He was born in Kyabram and moved to Melbourne when he was 5 years old, where he
was raised in St Albans. As cousins we naturally met as children, and for as long as I can
remember he has always had an affinity with cars and the faster the better. From a young age he
was either talking about cars, or reading the monthly edition of a car magazine, and to this day that
is what you will still find him doing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father would always encourage Lee to work hard as he was a hardworking man himself,
having migrated to Australia from Albania many years ago with nothing but a suitcase. It all
started when he was 4 years old, he and his family lived in Kyabram, and his father would drive the
whole family to Melbourne most weekends, and would allow Lee to sit on his lap for the entire
drive which in this day and age would be a criminal act with Lee begging his father to go faster. His
father gave him his first car so when Lee received it he replaced the front end with a Holden
Statesmen front end and also converted the motor to a worked V8. Lee said; Even before my dad
passed the car down to me, I had already thought of what I was going to do to modify the

Master Tiles Strengths And Weaknesses
SWOT ANALYSIS Strengths: (1)One of the main strength of Master Tiles is their latest
technological imported plant which is highly computerized. (2)One of the strength of Master Tiles
is their highly professionals and skilled foreign employees who are working there for more that 13
years. (3)One of the strength of Master Tiles is its production capacity. It can produce more that
25000 Sq/meter per day which is the highest as compared to the local competitors. Master Tiles has
the capacity to meet the huge demand. (4)They have a computerized system through which

(3) As company divides whole Pakistan into different zones sop if there is miss communication
between each zone and company and if it effects their supply chain process than its could be
another weakness of the company. Opportunities: (1)One of the big opportunities for Master
Tiles is the growing rate of construction which increases the demand for tiles. So that s why
Master Tiles is planning to expand their production capacity to meet the future demand. (2)One
opportunity for Master Tiles is that Government imposed anti dumping duties on Chinese Tiles
which restrict Chinese manufacturers to export the tiles in Pakistani market with low prices. So
now their cost increases and they forced to sell the tiles at higher price which is relatively equal
to local tiles. (3) The Government reduces the taxes on exports of tiles and also increasing demand

Abstract Over current in a power system is a situation when a larger than rated electric current
exists through a conductor, leading to excessive generation of heat, and the risk of fire or damage
to equipment Possible causes for over current include short circuits, excessive load, incorrect design,
or a ground fault. This paper presents the design and implementation of a microcontroller based
overcurrent relay for safe, reliable and efficient operation of power systems. Automated overcurrent
protection is done by programming a Arduino (microcontroller) with standard ABB moderately
inverse relay characteristics where the relay operates automatically in a permissible time whenever
there is an over current (abnormal or fault condition) in a power system [2].

Relationship Between Self Regulation And Motivation
Discussion: The articles chosen for this project provide developments in how teachers can motivate
students to self regulate their learning. Sansone and Thoman reach a conclusion in their research
that made a critical case of the relationship between self regulation and motivation. The purpose of
their argument was to explain the importance the interest experience plays in students maintaining
motivationin order to self regulate. They used research already completed to explain their suggestion
that the interest experience is the missing piece in the self regulation model . Wolters, Yu, and
Pintrich conclude from their study that students who adopt a learning goal orientation tend to show
more motivation towards self regulatory strategy use. They further conclude that motivation and
strategy use are strongly influenced by goal orientation and the outcomes are not just reflective of
stable individual difference . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich, based on their results, explain that learning
goal orientation promotes motivational beliefs, which in turn led to higher levels of self regulation
when compared to the other goal orientations.
The articles through their conclusions each had their own strengths and weaknesses. Sansone and
Thoman s strengths were shown through the extensive amount of research they completed to
provide evidence to their arguments. They used a collection of different studies to explain their
argument that gave justification to their conclusions. The

The Man to Send Rain Clouds
The Man to Send Rain Clouds is a short story based on the death of a very old man at the Pueblo
Indian reservation. This results to various issues from the conflicting spiritual aspects and
Christianity aspects. At the beginning of the story, the body of the old man is identified lying
under a cottonwood tree in the indicant reservation. The sheep owned by the old man are
scattered in all locations of the arroyo Lavine. The two men who identify the body are Leon and
Ken and they manage to bring back the camp where they found the old man s body. The story
focuses on the life of individuals in Laguna, New Mexico. It is written during the 1960s when there
was an interest on the indigenous cultures in America. During the period, diverse... Show more

This is well explained where the body of the old man is laid to rest in a proper burial to his next
world so that rain would be provided in the area. A priest is presented in the setting, an issue that
portrays change. It is important to note that from the beginning the Franciscans and other
religious groups were determined to change the religious practices of the Native Americans
religious practices. The setting of the book is modern although it entails of rituals and traditions
of the ancient Laguna Pueblo individuals. The Laguna s believe that the dead individuals become
the cloud people who eventually give them a gift of rain. Rain is a vital element of the Native
American life because it is one of the factors that sustain life. According to the short story, The
Man to Send Rain Clouds by Leslie Marmon Silko, it is evident that the traditional Laguna Native
American burial conflicts with the Catholic Church after the death of the old man. According to
the traditional rituals, the dead man is supposed to have a feather tied on their head, their faces
smeared with four colors, they should be wrapped in a red blanket and buried with corn meal and
water should be sprinkled around their graves. These are the traditional rituals practiced by the
Laguna individuals which are symbolic to their culture. The feathers are symbolic in the Native
American Cultures are they symbolize the spirit

What I Go Out Of Media And Society Class
What I Go Out of Media and Society Class On the first day of class, the question was asked why
everyone chose Media and Society. Most of us were truthful or maybe semi truthful and said
that it was a required course. The course was required for me, but I was eager to see what it was
all about. I was hoping to learn about journalism and possibly how media affects the way people
think. Boy was I back in the past. After a little coaxing; via reflections and videos, I started to
understand this class and what I was learning from it. At first these images of things moving at a
whirlwind pace overwhelmed me. I found from taking this class that I am very old school, much
to my dismay. I feel this way for a number of reasons. For one I m... Show more content on

My digital camera is not even useful to anyone but me, cell phones are the new cameras. Syncing
my Fitbit with my Android phone seemed to be a feat that could be done by a toddler. The faster
I learn the more things change. Although I m slow on the tech talk, the class did make me realize
that while tempting, I m not fast to pick up these new gadgets. I don t really have an affinity for
changing my phone or my computer on a whim. Moving on to the next best thing freaks me out. I
just got comfortable with the Android I have now and the newest versions are out. As people may
be able to see, I don t like change. I reluctantly found this out while watching the videos related to
class. More and more people are throwing away the outdated and buying the new, just because it is
newer innovation. Not any eye opening experience; nonetheless, humbling. Humbling because via
the class I found that whether I like it or not; to move forward my thinking will need to change.
Without understanding change has to happen, I may be left behind. The most significant point that
was instilled my thought of being old school was learning where technology is going. The changes
that will come boggles the mind. Everything from cable to how people see their physician will
change. Truthfully, I was oblivious to the aspects that will affect me; until Media and Society. I m

The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel Essay
Elie Wiesel s speech The Perils of Indifference is a mind opening and emotional speech that
prompts the audience to change the indifference that plagues America and many people in this time
and age. He expresses to the audience that indifference is the reason appalling and horrifying events,
such as the Holocaust, occur and why no one takes immediate actions to help the victims. To get
his point across, Wiesel uses his own history and experiences so that the audience can visualize the
Holocaust through the eyes of a survivor and to project the feelings of hopelessness and defeat that
the victims felt when no one came to end the injustice. In this critique, Elie Wiesels rhetorical
speech of indifference will show its effectiveness through testimony, emotion, and rhetorical
questions; this speech accomplished its goal and without a doubt persuaded most of the audience
to call out for change in indifference. The Holocaust is widely known as one of the most
horrendous and disturbing events in history that the world has seen; over six million lives were
lost, in fact the total number of deceased during the Holocaust has never been determined. The
footage of concentration camps and gas chambers left the world in utter shock, but photos and
retellings of the events cannot compare to being a victim of the Holocaust and living through the
horror that the rest of the world regarded in the safety of their homes. Elie Wiesel recognized the
indifference that the

Medical Maligence In Medical Malpractice Case
If you have been arrested for driving under the influence or DUI, then you re going to need a
good lawyer to represent you. A DUI is a serious offense these days and it s imperative that you
hire a lawyer to defend you as soon as possible. However, not all lawyers are created equal, and
since lawyers are people too, (although some may not think so) there are good lawyers and bad
lawyers out there. If you re searching the Internet for a lawyer, be very careful of sites that claim
to be in connection with a top notch firms. You need to check out this connection very carefully.
Many referral sites will call every lawyer in the yellow pages and whoever pays them money gets

Examples Of Concrete Thinking
3.1.4.Concrete Concrete Thinking is the opposite of abstract thinking. This is a literal thinking that
will focus on the physical world. Individuals engaged in Concrete Thinking are focusing on facts in
the here and now, the physical objects and the literal definitions. Concrete Thinking is a literal
thinking that will focus on the physical world. In the development of an individual s cognitive
abilities, most individuals will start with concrete thinking. As the individual age, they will develop
different levels for abstract thinking. Most people therefore have the ability to think concrete and
abstractly. Some circumstances will make the concrete thinking becomes absent. Certain mental

3.1.9.Divergent Divergent Thinking is a though process that will be used to generate creative
ideas by exploring many possible solutions. Unlike convergent thinking, this will typically occur
in a spontaneous, free flowing, non linear manner. Divergent Thinking is a though process that
will be used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions. This is done in such
a way that it will generate many ideas in an emergent cognitive fashion. This will allow for many
possible solutions to be explored in a short amount to time and will draw up unexpected
connections. After the process of divergent thinking has been completed, the ideas and information
will be organised and structured using convergent thinking to make decisions. 3.1.10.Strategic
Strategic Thinking can be defined as a mental or thinking process that will be applied by an
individual in the context of achieving success in an endeavour. This is a cognitive process,

Lady Chatterley s Lover
Lady Chatterley s Lover, written by DH. Lawrence was first published in 1928. The novel
follows around the protagonist of the story, Lady Constance Chatterley. The story is about how
this woman, who is trapped in a loveless and almost sterile marriage, finds emotional and physical
love with the gameskeeper of her husband s estate. As a story about the relationships between men
and women, I find this book a very nice read, but with Lawrence also using this novelas a way to
show his readers the evils of machines and capitalism, at times I find it lacking. Lawrence has two
main themes in this book; first, the relationship between men, women and how they find love;
second, industry vs. nature. Both can be discussed to show how they are... Show more content on

This does not work for me in this novel because he never tells or shows the whole aspect. By
this, I mean he never shows how all view industry. He does not show how the workers
themselves feel about how they live. I believe that he tries to show in this novel how he felt
about mining towns and those who work there and expects the reader to also despise industry as
a whole. The first theme works in this novel because Lawrence shows very different aspects of
what some of the characters feel on relationships. He shows the good and the bad and lets the
reader draw the conclusion that Lady Connie and Mellors relationship is a true one. He does not
do this for the industry vs. nature theme. He only shows the negative and forces the reader to
choose the nature side of the theme. I agree with the words of Pablo Neruda, who said Lawrence
s work impressed me because of the poetic quality and certain vital magnetism focused on the
hidden relationships between human beings. (93) This novel does give great insight to the
working of relationships between men and women. Lawrence does a convincing job of showing
the reader what it takes to have fulfillment from a relationship and what a person must sacrifice to
obtain it. With this in mind, I find it difficult to see why anyone would want to consider censoring
or banning this

Progressivism Was Motivated By Various Progressive Ideas...
Progressivism was the change development that kept running from the late 19th century through the
main many years of the 20th century, which driving educated people and social reformers in the
United States looked to address the monetary, political, and social inquiries that had emerged with
regards to the quick changes carried with the Industrial Revolution and the development of current
private enterprise in America. The Progressives trusted that these progressions denoted the end of
the old request and required the formation of another request suitable for the new mechanical age.
Expansionism was motivated by various progressive ideas. Imperialism was an adjournment of the
movement to direct and normalize society, economics, and government.
Order, Regulation, and World Economy
The United States dominated the world market in producing items by 1900. They produced
petroleum and agricultural machinery to sewing machines and cameras. Foreign investments
tremendously increased from $700 million in 1897 to 2.5 billion in 1908; and again to $ 3.5
billion my 1914. Businesses in the U.S. eventually controlled about 78 percent of all the mines in
Mexico (silver, lead, and copper) by 1917 and about 58 percent of oil production. The U.S
investment nearly approached $1 billion toward just Mexico alone. Due to the laissez faire policies
the American interest in international market places needed protection. The Progressive Party

Military Comparisons from the 1920 s
The 1920 s were a time of substantial growth for many nations, especially for the nations that did
not pay reparations. The nations that did not pay reparations had vast military growth, and had
leaps in military technology. The technology that received the most attention was their submarines,
but their airplanes and tanks were also important to these nations. Even though the technological
advances were from the 1920s there is still the technology present in today s military. There is
some old technology still in today s submarines like the Mccarn rescue tube. Believe it or not there

role, infantry support or just going to battle alone, they still have the role of being a guardian

Concussions In Athletes Research Paper
Spotting any of the symptoms above, is one of the quickest and effective ways for a concussion
to be diagnosed by a person trained to spot these symptoms. Although many of these symptoms,
don t appear or will not be present in an athlete that has sustained a concussion. New ways for
diagnosing concussions, have been developed to better identify the injury, making it easier to
diagnose and treat an athlete who has sustained a hit to the head or neck area. Many concussions,
never have an athlete completely losing consciousness, many athletes experience a momentary
state of confusion or disorientation after being hit in the head.( Bell Ringers are concussions ,
2016) This type of hit to the head is known as a bell ringer ; these types of hits can prove to be
even more dangerous and hazardous to an athlete, because they don t lose consciousness many
trainers, and coaches think that they are still able to play. This, however is not true, if an athlete
were to sustain another concussion, then their chances of getting a more severe injury is

A Love Story
Not a Love Story Oh my gosh, it s Ru Emerson! A girl screamed out. Commotion rippled across
the campus as a hoard of girls started gathering around a particular spot. Ru Emerson was quite
used to this and casually dismissed the girls. Sorry girls, another day! Ru shouted as he grinned,
since many girls were asking him if he was free or had football practice that day. In a split
second, the girls dispersed with disappointed looks on their faces, knowing that they could never
have a chance with a campus football star. Ru always knew he had dashing good looks, as he
was quite proud of his thick, jet black hair, his cloudy grey eyes, and his toned body. On top of
all that, he had a great charm. While silently adoring himself, Ru made his way to the Starbucks
on campus to treat himself to an iced coffee. As he was strolling along the pathway, he looked up
at the clear, blue sky, watching a few birds fly by. On his left, he spotted a few more kooky girls
who were crazy for him, so he ducked his head and stared at the patterned brick path beneath his
feet, and kept walking. Ru eventually reached the familiar glass door at Starbucks and pushed
forward with his head still lowered. Suddenly, he felt something hit his chest and saw a pile of
textbooks on his feet. Ru immediately raised his head, only to find a girl with her hands and
knees on the ground. Their gaze met each other for a few seconds, then Ru instinctively bent
down to help the girl pick up her books. He noticed the faint smell of cigarettes. I m terribly
sorry, I didn t mean to do that, Ru said apologetically, I just wasn t watching where I was going.
Totally my fault. The girl nodded timidly but was too shocked to say anything and just kept
staring at Ru. Here you are, Miss. Lenora. Ru chirped as he handed her stack of textbooks back.
Lenora was almost too bewildered to speak. The man in front of her was too beautiful. She was
already lost in his captivating grey eyes, his bold, straight eyebrows, and his alluring tinted lips.
Th thanks, Lenora hesitated as she quickly tucked her blonde hair behind her ear, sorry, but how
did you know my name? Ru replied, I saw it written in one of your books and assumed

/the_theory_of_e.html] Competitive advantages give a company an edge over its rivals and an
ability to generate greater value for the firm and its shareholders. The more sustainable the
competitive advantage, the more difficult it is for competitors to neutralize the advantage. There
are two main types of competitive advantages: comparative advantage and differential advantage.
Comparative advantage, or cost advantage, is a firm s ability to produce a good or service at a
lower cost than its competitors, which gives the firm the ability sell its goods or services at a lower
price than its competition or to generate a larger margin on sales. A differential advantage is created
when a firm s products or services differ from its competitors and are seen as better than a
competitor s products by customers. [http://www.emeraldinsight.com

Implementing A New Software Or Equipment Or Launching Your...
You ll also need to research the current competitive landscape in order to understand whether the
proposed idea or action is viable. Whether you are implementing a new software or equipment or
launching your own new product, you need to compare the proposed product or service with other
similar items on the market.
This might mean you need to compare the feasibility of your chosen software (for example,
accounting platform) with other products on the market. What are the benefits of your proposed
choice and what are the weaknesses? Are the risks associated with your chosen software smaller or
bigger than those of competitive products?
The same analysis applies when launching a new product. Part of your feasibility study must then
focus on understanding what the customers are looking for and whether your proposed idea
answers these needs. You should also compare the proposed product with the existing products or
services and focus on the advantages, as well as disadvantages, you might have.
Step 4: Examining the market conditions
You also need to examine the market conditions. There are four specific points of analysis when it
comes to the market in terms of feasibility. These are:
Defining the target market.
Studying the buying habits of the target market.
Understanding the sale and market share outlook of the proposal.
Outlining the product awareness that is required for the use of your product or service.
The main goal of this part of the feasibility study is

Lewis And The Silent Planet

C.S. Lewis and the Influence of Dante in Out of the Silent Planet All throughout Lewis novels there
is evidence that clearly connects the themes and symbolism from other aspects of traditional
Christian literature both during and before he began writing. One of the most distinct examples of
this occurring within Lewis works is the influence that Dante had on the concepts that he reflects on
while conveying thoughts to his readers. This is specifically more notable a connection between
Dante and Lewis when you examine the parallels that take place within Lewis Out of the Silent
Planet and Dante s Inferno. The literary tradition left behind by Dante is both one able to
influence the thoughts of others and to teach the value of Christianity through within a fictional
environment. This is similar to Lewis Space Trilogy in more ways than one, some of which

Wind Farm Essay
Katie Stevenson News Editor @KatieSStevenson Nodaway county has approved a new, 23,000
acre, wind farm for which construction will begin in 2019. This decision came after the
Nodaway County Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) committee approved the tax adjustment
application from Tenaska Clear Creek Wind. The turbines will be north of Gray s Truck Stop,
continuing to the Iowa border and just west of Pickering Missouri. According to Monte Ten Kley,
Director, Strategic Development Acquisitions at Tenaska the project began in 2008 but Tenaska
was not involved until the summer of 2016 and has recently really started to take off. Tenaska is
developing a 200 to 300 megawatt wind project near Maryville in Nodaway County called the

The remainder can continue to be used in its current state, such as for farming or grazing. This is
another cash crop for landowners that participate in the project, thereby helping to stabilize farm
incomes. Yet, according to Ten Kley Tenaska wants to be an integral part of the Maryville
community instead of simply helping the economy. Additionally, Tenaska is known for being a
good business neighbor in communities where its plants operate, Ten Kley said. Those facilities
have a long standing record of support for broad based community programs, including food
pantries and local Scout troops, and employees donate thousands of hours of time annually to
community projects, from serving on school boards to tutoring students and coaching athletics.
According to the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) as of 2016, Missouri had
659 megawatts of wind generating capacity online, another 300 megawatts being built, and
substantial additional wind energy potential, primarily in the state s northwest. According to Ten
Kley the Missouri and the Midwest have some of the best areas for wind farms. The Midwest has
some of the best wind resources in the nation and recent advances in turbine technology have
continued to increase the feasibility and cost competitiveness of wind projects in Missouri, Ten
Kley said. These changes, along with the notable wind resource in Nodaway County, has made the
area ideal for locating a wind powered electric

Mathematics In Baseball
Numbers would always seem to jump off the page for me. Unlike most, I found solace in the
therapeutic nature of numerals. It was only a few years ago, however, that I found myself intrigued
by a very unusual type of mathematics, which intersected with another passion of mine, baseball.
Baseball was simple enough to understand, yet captivating and stimulating. One element of baseball
that fascinated me, was the focus on the individual. Much of the game is played as one on one,
pitcherverses batter, and thus there are few parts of the game that depend on abstract concepts such
as teamwork and communication. These immeasurable factors which play an integral part in sports
such as basketball and football, are less significant on the baseball diamond.

The Civil Rights Act Of 1964
History tells us that it has been a long road to liberty and a continual fight for civil rights for those
with disabilities. One of the most influential times for change in the lives of disabled Americans
occurred during the 1960s and 1970s, and became know as the Disability Rights Movement.
Structured Inequality/Rationale: After the world wars and Vietnam War, there were many disabled
American veterans who faced challenges and prejudice they had not experienced before. Alongside
those fighting in the Civil Rights Movement were disabled veterans and other people with
disabilities. They too were fighting against inequalities and discrimination. The Disability Rights
Movement occurred due to several issues rooted in structured inequalities. The Civil Rights Act
of 1964 was an example of inequality built into legislation as it prohibited discrimination based
on race, color, religion, or national origin (Cornell), but did not address discrimination based on
disabilities. Inaccessibility and negative societal views excluded those with disabilities from their
rights. There was a need for a policy written specifically for the protection of persons with
disabilities. Structured inequality in the U.S. economy was evident in occupational segregation
and discrimination (Aguirre Baker, 1999). Such was the case for Judy Heumann, a disabled
college graduate who, in 1970, was denied a teaching license from the state of New York because
she failed a medical examination (Patterson,

The Zika Virus
The Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito borne single stranded RNA virus. It is in the family of
Flaviviridae, genus Flavivirus. This virus causes a mild illness similar to dengue. The first case of
ZIKV was identified in Uganda in 1947. Cases of this virus were rare until 2007 when a major
epidemic happened in Yap Island, Micronesia. Now, epidemics have happened in Polynesia, Easter
Island, the Cook Islands, Brazil, and New Caledonia (Ioos et al., 2014).
During the first week of infection, the virus is in the blood and can be passed from an infected
person to a mosquito. An infected mosquito can then spread the virus to other people. The most
common symptoms of ZIKV are fever, rash, joint pain, or red eyes. Other common symptoms

Exploring The Exotification Of East Asian Women
In this essay, I will be exploring the exotification of East Asian women in modern day society. My
area of investigation in this writing is how these tropes pose danger towards East Asian women,
instead of the misconception that they feel flattered and sees it as a compliment .
Orientalism is, according to Oxford English Dictionary, a term defined as styles, artefacts or traits
considered as the characteristics of the people and cultures in Asia . It is also defined as the
representation of Asia in a stereotyped way that is regarded as embodying a colonialist attitude1.
According to Edward Said, Orientalism exists in when the creation of representation of exotic lands
does not imbue aspects of the society to be portrayed2. Orientalism became prominent since the
18th century, when Western colonialists began their domination in Asia. It is during the rise of
colonialism in the 18th century when many Westerners fetishized the East. The generalization of
the culture separates them as the East and the West, making East the Other 3. Otherness, resulted
from Orientalism, have painted East Asian women as so foreign that from mid 1800 brothels until
this day, racist humour about how the vaginas of East Asian women would defy all odds and look
different in comparison. People often not realize the harm done to East Asian Women when calling
them exotic and oriental , instead thought these are compliments and they should feel flattered. In

But, if you think that s the only kind of music the band members, and former band members, enjoy
making, you are sorely mistaken.
In fact, ex Metallica Bassist Jason Newsome recently spent time on The Drive with Steve Jaxon

A Complex Adaptive System ( Cas )
Organizations and businesses are now seen as a function of increased specialization. Technology
has become the order of the day where more and more businesses are heading towards that direction
to have a competitive edge within the industry they best identify with. In light of this, conflicts are
sometimes very challenging to comprehend, and theorists have also questioned the nature of the
whole system to which all these complicating factors contribute. Many experts and scholars have
argued that all these developments are characterized by a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). Most
organizations are engulfed in planning activities such as formalized planning sessions that are of a
strategic nature by design and to do this; business leaders tend to look for business intelligence,
knowledge managementand other methods that will enable them to have active planning sessions
in real time to match the ever growing system. What then is Complex Adaptive System? To best
define CAS, we need to understand what a system is. A system is defined as an assembly of
elements hooked together to produce a whole in which the attributes of the elements contribute to a
behavior of the whole ( Complex Adaptive Systems, n.d.). Examples of systems include the human
body, galaxies, ecosystems, airplanes and computers. CAS is the study of natural systems and how
they interact, adapt, and survive over time (Evans, 2015). By this definition, it is fair to say that
organizations cannot ignore the

This diagram, at right, shows a graph (purple line) of chemical potential energy (vertical axis)
versus a reaction coordinate (horizontal axis), which here represents the progress of a reaction in
which one bond must break and a new bond forms. Examples of such reactions are provided by the
many isomerization reactions, such as the interconversion of cis 2 butene and trans 2 butene.
Let us first consider the forward reaction, A в†’ B. Reactant molecules (A) in the system with
enough energy to reach the energetic peak, the transition state(symbolized by the double dagger,

This minimum energy required is the activation energy. For the forward reaction, this is
symbolized as Ea, fwd, and is the energetic cost required to advance the bond breaking in a
molecule of A to the point where formation of the new bond in B can begin to provide an energetic
payback. The increase in potential energy must be provided by the kinetic energy of the molecules
in the system, which varies by temperature, according to a Maxwell Boltzmann distribution. For
molecules, the kinetic energy can reside not only in their motion through space, but also in bond
stretching, bending, and twisting. Kinetic energy in these forms is constantly being redistributed by

Research Paper On Airport Interview
The location of the interview was in the boardroom of the Hector International Airport. The
attendees of the meeting were Kaitlyn Anderson, Stacie Tjon Bossart, Corey Quinton and Jim
Koehler. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Darren Anderson, who was the driver of the airport s
Chevrolet Traverse, the subject vehicle that was involved in the accident. Kaitlyn appeared at the
interview wearing a sweat suit. She is 18 years old and a freshman at studying pharmaceutical
medicine at North Dakota State University. She lives at home with her parents and her younger
sister. She made a nice appearance during the interview and was able to keep composed during
most of the meeting. Overall, she will make an above average witness.
Kaitlyn was in the vehicle with Darren Anderson at the time of the accident because he was excited
about the construction project going on that involved the runway and wanted to bring her out to see
the project. They arrived at the airport at approximately 11:00 PM on July 30, 2017. They walked
through the administration section of the airport and then got into the airport s Chevy Traverse.
Kaitlyn reported that the Traverse is equipped with amber warning lights on the top; however, she
was not certain if the lights were activated at any time that night.
Kaitlyn and her father drove out onto Runway 18 36, which was closed due to the construction
and a restriping project, and they parked near the intersection of Runway 18 36 and Runway 9 27.
Her dad got out of the vehicle and had a conversation with Henry Swedberg, from the airport, and
another gentleman also from the airport, regarding the work that was ongoing that night. Kaitlyn
got out of the vehicle to say hello to Henry and then both she and her dad got into the vehicle to
escort the painting truck down the middle of Runway 18 36. (Escort vehicles, which are in radio
contact with the tower, must accompany all non airport vehicles on the runways.)
West River Striping was repainting the center line of Runway 18 36 from taxiway C through the
south end of the runway. After they escorted the large painting truck to the south end of Runway 18
36, Darren Anderson indicated that they needed to go back to the intersection of Runway

Kurt Cobain s Life
Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols.
Many famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples
would be Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of
their time. Each of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the
same year of 1967, but all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was
27 when his heroin addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he
experimented with prescription drugs and marijuana. He began using a drug known as Hash in
1984, which was popular in his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. In the summer of 1986, just

His death is still shrouded in mystery, whether it was a real suicide, or a murder covered up to
look like to a suicide. Either way, his death silenced the people of his generation. He was an
inspiration to millions of people across the world, and his death came as a shock. Scott Weiland,
former singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse
throughout his whole life. When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school
he formed his first band Mighty Joe Young, which eventually became Stone Temple Pilots. They
were one of the biggest bands of the 90 s. Scott first got into his drug habits in high school, and
was sent to rehab when his parents found drugs in his room. In 1995, after his band s second
album release, he was arrested for drug possession. This brush with the law did little to quell
Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At one point, he lived in a Los Angeles
hotel, shooting up heroin with Kurt Cobain s wife, Courtney Love. Weiland s personal addictions
impacted his band s ability to tour in 1996, so he subsequently parted ways with the band for a time.

Baseball Vs Softball Essay
The battle between sexes has been a lifelong battle both sexes are often fighting. One sex often
tries to one up the other. A great example of that is Baseball and Softball. Baseball and softball are
both competitive sports for males and females at any age. If you were to ask a Baseball player
which sport he thinks is harder, he would generally say Baseball. However, if you ask a softball
player which sport she thinks is harder, she will generally say softball. Both are skill requiring
sports. They also require a passion or love for the game. Although they share the same objective,
they do come with many differences. The biggest difference in these two sports has to be the

That is why the mental skill is the most important.
The next similarity is having the passion for the game. We all have passions in our lives,
although many of us might not be clear with that passion yet, many athletes have found their
passions When athletes have the passion for the game it can move athletes through tough times
and stay hungry for the next game. Passion gives athletes a reason to work hard and be the best
player they can be. With a passion, athletes have specific targets to shoot for. According to Dr.
Stankovich Many years ago it dawned on me how important it is in life to have a passion and
purpose to be dedicated to the nth degree, and to have specific targets to shoot for in the big
picture of life. I have learned that without true passion (also loosely known as intrinsic motivation),
it is extremely difficult to truly reach your full potential in life. Although it is debatable wither
passion can be taught, passion can be looked for.
The last similarity is the objective of the game. According to gamedesign.wikidot.com, by
definition, an object of the game is Any object in a game that the player can see and/or interact
with. Softball and baseball are played by two teams of nine. The object of the game is to hit the
ball and make it to home which gives your team a point or in softball and baseball a run. The team
that ends up with the most runs wins. Although it is not that easy. The batter is given

Brookfield Critical Reflection
One thing that was really emphasized in this class is critical reflection. According to Brookfield
critical reflection is the process of analyzing, reconsidering and questioning experiences within a
broad context of issues . This is necessary for anyone working in a people centered job or in
human services. Critical reflection allows us to tackle our assumptions and actions and address
where this comes from. There are 3 different phases of the critical reflection process. The first is
deconstruction. This is where we take the case or moment apart, this where we deconstruct our
attitudes surrounding the circumstances. The next step is resistance and challenge. This is where
we ask why and what this means. The last step is reconstruction. In this step we put together
everything that we have learned from this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before actively learning about critical reflection, I did not understand how important it is to
develop this skill. With my previous work in SDMA or as a mentor, I did complete some type of
critical reflection but it was more large scale at the end of large periods of time. I found this
reflection was not very helpful because of at it was not as useful at the end of the semester or at
the mid point of semester. I think this is because it is more helpful after every interaction because
then it is the best way to address all of these interactions. As a mentor, it s important to really pay
attention to my interactions with my mentees because this is the basis of my relationship with
them. There are a lot of times of when I need to deconstruct my feelings and attitudes. This is often
the case for my mentees, with them being only a year younger and the growth of our relationship,
there are some interactions that I look back at and think I maybe should not have had done or said
some of the things I did do. This is me deconstructing these interactions, the attitudes that I had,

have different experiences of education. This means that lower class children are still more
likely to have a lesser education than those pupils who are more privileged (). Rather than
improving life chances for all the pupils through education the system, it still leaves a barrier
which is not equal. This lack of equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of
knowledge parents have about schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents
that have more of a cultural, social and economical capital have more choice on where to send
their child. Money can help if the best school is far away of if the child needs their own
textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a good understanding and knowledge
of how schooling works are in better position to influence their child to choose a certain path.
This therefore puts the middle class and above in an improved position than the classic working

Renal Function Lab
Tests of Renal Function Laboratory tests of a patient s blood and urine can provide valuable
information about renal function. Serum levels of potassium, phosphate, blood urea nitrogen
(BUN), and creatinine increase in renal failure while serum pH, calcium, and bicarbonate levels
decrease. Two commonly used tests are serum creatinine and BUN. Creatinine is a breakdown
product of creatine phosphate in muscle and is filtered out of the blood almost entirely by the
kidneys. Thus serum creatinine levels reflect the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). If the glomerular
membrane is faulty creatinine levels rise in the blood. If the serum creatinine is double that may
indicate that that functional capacity of the kidneys has fallen to one half of its normal state.

It is less specific then serum creatinine the BUN creatinine ratio can provide useful information.
The normal ratio is about 10:1. Ratios greater then 15:1 represent pre renal conditions such as
congestive heart failure. A ratio of less then 10:1 7 occurs in persons on a low protein diet or
chronic dialysis because BUN is more readily dialyzable then creatinine.4 While not solely tests
of renal function, both hemoglobin levels and lactose dehydrogenase (LDH) are used to
diagnosis and monitor aHUS patients. Hemoglobin is found in red blood cells, it is the protein
molecule that is responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs to other organs and returning
carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be expelled. To measure the hemoglobin levels, it is bound to
cyanide to form cyanmethemoglobin. When the solution is exposed to a light, the absorbed light
can be measured, from this information you can determine the amount of hemoglobin. It is

The Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union
The European Union s role in the international sphere, as well as the aim to improve its external

the Lisbon Treaty, the combination of the provisions on mutual assistance and solidarity created
new pressures on member states to assist one another in cases of armed attacks, disasters being it

The Member States have an obligation to provide aid and assistance to any state that becomes a
victim of an armed attack. The Treaty on the European Union specifically states that the alliance
obliges the Member States to implement mutual assistance.
Article 222 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union also speaks of the Mutual

under Article 42(7). Article 222 TFEU tends to widen the scope of the clause.
THE MUTUAL SOLIDARITY CLAUSE
The Solidarity Clause has not been given much attention since the establishment of the Lisbon
Treaty and is often confused with the Mutual Assistance Clause found under article 42(7) TEU. The
lack of attention can be quite understandable due to the fact that the Lisbon Treaty was full of
headline goals and aspirations, which took the focus off single paged provisions. The Mutual
Solidarity Clause is found in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union under Article

Analysis Of Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption
In Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption the prison acts as a microcosm reflecting the
structures of the capitalist society to what extent do you agree with this view?
One critic named Terry Eagleton, stated It is capitalism, not Marxism that trades in futures. This
quote alone suggests the extent of what capitalism is to some Marxist critiques and this one is
suggesting that the future is traded upon capitalism which relates to King s Rita Hayworth and the
Shawshank Redemption as the prison system does determine the future of inmates yet inside the
prison there is a capitalist structure. I will look at a plethora of characters in the novella and
explore how their roles in the prison are used to reflect capitalist society: Andy a bourgeoisie
socially but a proletariat politically, Red who goes under the system whom also, serves the
proletariat even though he is one himself and the warden that uses his role as the bourgeoisie for
corruption and power over the inmates. Despite the inmates being in a confined space and managed
by the outside world. It could be argued that the Shawshank prison is formulating a society of their
own.
Kings use of the character, Andy, is vague. As it could be argued that his role changes
throughout the novella. It could be said that there are many interpretations to where Andy s
character develops as he can be measured by his political and social class as we see done by the
prisoners and the wider society. Reiman wrote a book titled the rich get richer and the poor get
prison this pragmatically shows that those who are poor go to prison. However, this is not the
case with Andy due to the fact before he was in prison he was a successful banker so in fact he
was not poor, opposing the view, that Reiman is signifying. Somewhat suggesting that King is
stating that society could have an impact on any group of people regardless of what the
backgrounds are or the backgrounds of the individual. Andy was a banker before he came to the
Shawshank prison. In some lens he would be perceived as a bourgeoisie because of the class that
would have been in. However, from a political lens it would be evident that Andy could be a
proletariat for the ranks of the company that he had

less than the owner s (master s) interference with the slave. Furthermore, serfs often had to pay

considered to be chattel.
An indentured servant was a person who borrowed money and thus usually voluntarily agreed to
work off the debt during a specific time period. While working off the debt they essentially
became a servant, to those from whom they had borrowed money, for a specific period of time.
Although contracts varied, sometimes they specified that the servants, when set free, were to be
set free with some money, or a plot of land, or even a spouse. In contrast, if slaves were set free
they simply had to hope for the generosity of their owners to prevail in any shape or form which it
often did not.
Peons were another group of laborers. They were people that were either forced to work off debts
or they were people who were criminals. They did not have any prespecified length of time to
work. Instead they simply had to work until their debts had been paid off. (Encyclopedia Britannica)

IV. A healthy change in our diet would absolutely go a long way in addressing most of the health
issues and the obesity epidemic that this Country faces.
V. One other solution is to make a sedentary lifestyle change, but that takes courage and a strong
desire for change, limiting the amount of sugar one takes does not solve the problem. VI. It is
not up to government to solve our pesky personal issues, that is why they are personal. We must
each forge the courage and discipline to undertake healthy changes in our personal lives. If we eat
better, exercise moderately, sleep better, and change our sedentary lifestyle by making mental and
physical changes about the way we view food, we will immediately see quality results once we
cross that threshold and

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Essay
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a perfect example of the average sweatshop in the early
twentieth century. It had long hours, low pay, hired young immigrant women, and most
importantly, had a dangerous work environment. On March 25, 1911, a fire started in the 8th floor
on a rag tub and it spread throughout the factory. The fire department did come, but it s ladder and
hoses were too short and couldn t reach the 8th floor so not many people were saved. The
workers were neglected of safety measures and too overcrowded that not everyone survived. The
Fire brought high casualties. There were over 500 workers at the factory, and it was a little space
while much too overcrowded. There weren t that many safety exits in the factory that actually
worked, so they were crowded and it led girls to jumping out the window, though some survived
because of life nets. Unfortunately, the life net ripped because 3 girls jumped at the same time. 146
people were killed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their goal was to get higher wages, improved working conditions, official union recognition, and
collective bargaining rights (Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Women Strike). Working conditions at
the factory was not safe at all, there was even a fire prevention specialist that sent the owners a
letter to discuss how to improve the safety in the factory, but that letter was ignored. (Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Women Strike) A work day at the Triangle shirtwaist factory is about 14
hours with only one break throughout the whole day. The rooms never provided with fresh air
so the rooms were contaminated. (Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Women Strike). The workers were
paid $2 a day, but they would reduce the pay if the workers made any sort of errors and for the
needles and threads they consumed. Sometimes, they weren t even paid at all or would be at the
point where the workers have to give money. (Working for the Triangle Shirtwaist

Examples Of Contingent Liability
contingent liability A potential liability dependent upon some future event occurring or not
occurring. For example, a company is named as a defendant in a $1 million lawsuit. Does that
mean the company automatically has a liability of $1 million? What if the lawsuit has no merit
and can easily be defended? If it is probable that the company will lose and the amount can be
estimated, a journal entry is prepared to debit Loss from Lawsuit and to credit Lawsuit Payable.
If it is possible but not probable that the company will lose, the journal entry is not made but
instead there will be a footnote disclosure. If the lawsuit is remote (a nuisance suit without any
merit), there is no need for a journal entry and no need to disclose the... Show more content on

If the company is certain that no units will be returned as defective, the company will have no
liability and no warranty expense.
Accountants will record a journal entry to report a liability on the balance sheet and a loss or
expense on the income statement only if the loss contingency is both probable and the amount can
be estimated.
If a contingent liability is possible (but not probable), no journal entry is needed. However, the
accountant must disclose the contingent liability and loss in the notes to the financial statements.
If a contingent liability is remote, then the accountant will not report the liability and loss and will
not disclose it.
Where is a contingent liability recorded?
A contingent liability that is both probable and the amount can be estimated is recorded as 1) an
expense or loss on the income statement, and 2) a liability on the balance sheet. As a result, a
contingent liability is also referred to as a loss contingency. Warranties are cited as a contingent
liability that meets both of the required conditions (probable and the amount can be estimated).
Warranties will be recorded at the time of a product s sale with a debit to Warranty Expense and a
credit to Warranty Liability.
A loss contingency which is possible but not probable, or the amount cannot be estimated, will not
be recorded in the accounts. Rather, it will be disclosed in the notes to the financial

What Does Blackie Symbolize In The Mixer
Confounding people can lead to being harmed in many ways when it comes to an animal s
perspective. In The Mixer , by P.G. Wodehouse, the narrator, Blackie, is a dog that is being
treated very poorly throughout the article by getting abused. Also, Blackie doesn t understand
what the characters are saying in the piece. He suffers as a result of not understanding humans. In
The Mixer , throughout this piece, Blackie aches from not experiencing what the characters in
the piece are doing and saying because he is a dog, and yet he solves problems without even
knowing what was happening. For instance, Blackie was part of a crime scene that the Shy Man
made him join (since he knew that Blackie was an intelligent dog) and Blackie solved the crime

James Whitman Vision Analysis
We made it to Whitman Mission. It s burned down and there is nothing left. Literally everything
is burned down. We met a family and they told us to go Fort Vancouver for supplies and then go to
Oregon City but we decided to just travel the rest of the way to Oregon City without stopping. We
leave for Oregon City today and we will get there in a few days. Betsy is sick once again and
running low on energy. We finally make it about halfway and we get to The Dalles. It s a nice
place but now we got to go on the Barlow Road. It is pretty dumb but we have to pay a toll to use
this road too. It came out as 2.80 total but we can t spend much so instead we pay 1 dollar and we
trade a cow. We take the road but it is very steep and Juan s horse got

The Tempest Critical Analysis
The Tempest is about an ousted Duke of Milan ,Prospero, who has been living in exile on a
remote island for the past twelve years with his daughter Miranda. He is a powerful magician,
who happens to be the master of Ariel and Caliban, and a guy who really likes his books. When
Prospero s enemies wash up on shore, he uses his black magic to seek revenge and restore himself
to power. The Tempestbelongs to the genre of Elizabethan romance plays. It combines elements of
tragedy with those of romantic comedy, and like one of Shakespeare s playspreviously, it asks
deeper questions that are not completely resolved at the end. The tone that seeps into the play is
one of wonder, amazement, and admiration. Mystery is still present , but the magic performed is
not black and scary. The version that seems to grasp my attention more, would have to be the Utah
Valley University interpretation because it takes Shakespeare s main purpose and tone but shows
it in its own unique way. Furthermore, with its silly drunkards, the play has a certain lightness to
it and even the so called killers of the King tell hilarious jokes and are lighthearted. But there is
also the tone of revenge and reconciliation in the play. We feel a revenge burning in Prospero
while, at the same time, a wish for forgiveness and reconciliation with those who have wronged him.
The Balinese production has a magical and mystical tone and is all caused by the effects the
director decided to use to help make the tone

Symbolism In Dante s Divine Comedy
Robert Langdon, Harvard university professor specializing in symbolism is being hounded by
someone and he has to find out why. Robert wakes up in a hospital bed suffering from amnesia.
He has no knowledge of the past thirty six hours. The last thing he can recall is walking on the
Harvard campus. He then quickly discovers that he is in Florence, Italy. A female assassin
working for The Consortium, a consulting group, tries to kill him in the hospital but he is saved
by a doctor, Sienna Brooks. Sienna takes him to her house so that they can be temporarily safe
and then finds a canister which is a bio tube in Robert s coat pocket. He is plagued by visions of

It seems to contain some kind of a liquid. Langdon finds out that this is a virus to trigger an
epidemic. He then finds links to Dante s Divine Comedy in all the messages projected by the
canister and uses his knowledge of symbolism to reach Venice where he believes he will find the
cave. The bag of virus has been planted by Bertrand Zobrist, a Trans humanist genius scientist
and a Dante fanatic, who was extremely concerned about population explosion and how it will
affect the Earth in the long run. Zobrist had paid the same shadowy consulting group called The
Consortium to protect the cylinder until a certain date. He also left a disturbing video filled with
Dante imagery, which also showed a picture of the plague itself, kept in a hidden underwater
location, within a slowly dissolving bag. The video claims that the world will be changed the
following morning. While he is Chased by the US police, the World Health Organization and the
female assassin, Robert and Sienna both are separated in Venice. After some more investigating, he
finally realizes that the bag is not in Venice, but it is in Turkey. He then teams up with the WHO
and the Consortium as he realizes that they are trying to find the same object to stop something

Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States.
Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain
states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main
argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the
preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen
should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting
their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people
and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown
on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of
crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for
drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One
huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a
seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This
is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times
states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a
minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of
crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared
with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months
(Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis
highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that
younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver.
One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in
at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. This is
showcased in a study on the Chicago Tribune that

Academic Characteristics Of Hip Hop Culture
The purpose of this paper is to explore the major characteristics of hip hop studies, how they
have evolved over the years, and how hip hop can be used to teach others. To begin, a great
summary of the major characteristics of hip hop studies is The Kaledioscope of Writing on Hip
Hop Culture by Gail Hilson Woldu. For instance, in his book Woldu discusses the academic
characteristic of hip hop studies (Woldu, 10). The author gives several examples of major works
that have come from academic writing. He also goes into great detail about what they each focus
on. For example, Woldu mentions Black Noise from author Tricia Rose as being a book that falls
into the academic characteristic of hip hop studies (Woldu, 13). Woldu states, .... this... Show more

Again, these are simply a few the many examples provided by Woldu. All of these examples go to
show that the journals are a major characteristic.
Finally, the last major characteristic of hip hop studies that Woldu discusses is what he calls the
devotees (Woldu, 30). Woldu states, All are clearly more than devotees in the sense that they are
far more than fans or hip hop groupies (Would, 30). Examples that he provides are, for instance,
Bill Adler (Woldu, 30). Woldu states, Bill Adler, a former rap publicist...wrote a biography of
rappers Run DMC (woldu, 31). Another example is Nelson George. According to Woldu, the
recipient of two ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards and an American Book Award, George is the author
of eight nonfiction books on African Americanculture... (Woldu, 31). Again, these examples go to
show that this is a major characteristic of hip hop studies.
Aside from simply looking at the major characteristics, one can also examine the ways in which
they have evolved. For instance, one can dive into the evolution of the academic characteristic.
One major way in which these characteristics have evolved is simply by the topics they cover.
When looking at what was commonly talked about back in the early days of hip hop, and then
compare it to the topics discussed today one will notice a difference. That main difference being
that the topics are very thoughtful and look for deeper meaning.
Furthermore, there is always room for more areas of

  • 2. Research Paper On Lee Bektash By Lelet Lumani Did you know, the world s fastest man lives in St Albans, and no, it isn t Usain Bolt. His name is Lee Bektash, and he is a driver for FIAT Chrysler (who supply the car) and Mopar Racing (who supply all the parts). He s the number one drag car racer in Australia, as well as holding the world record for the quickest time with a small block powered car and naturally aspirated car for the quarter mile 6.87 seconds, clocked at a speed of 200.14mph. I recently spoke to Lee about a few things; his childhood, and the reasons he became such a huge car fan. He was born in Kyabram and moved to Melbourne when he was 5 years old, where he was raised in St Albans. As cousins we naturally met as children, and for as long as I can remember he has always had an affinity with cars and the faster the better. From a young age he was either talking about cars, or reading the monthly edition of a car magazine, and to this day that is what you will still find him doing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His father would always encourage Lee to work hard as he was a hardworking man himself, having migrated to Australia from Albania many years ago with nothing but a suitcase. It all started when he was 4 years old, he and his family lived in Kyabram, and his father would drive the whole family to Melbourne most weekends, and would allow Lee to sit on his lap for the entire drive which in this day and age would be a criminal act with Lee begging his father to go faster. His father gave him his first car so when Lee received it he replaced the front end with a Holden Statesmen front end and also converted the motor to a worked V8. Lee said; Even before my dad passed the car down to me, I had already thought of what I was going to do to modify the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF MICROCONTROLLER BASED OVERCURRENT RELAY Siddhartha Yedida, Huseyin R Hiziroglu Electrical and computer Engineering Department, Kettering University Flint, Michigan, 48504 yedi2874@kettering.edu hhizirog@kettering.edu Abstract Over current in a power system is a situation when a larger than rated electric current exists through a conductor, leading to excessive generation of heat, and the risk of fire or damage to equipment Possible causes for over current include short circuits, excessive load, incorrect design, or a ground fault. This paper presents the design and implementation of a microcontroller based overcurrent relay for safe, reliable and efficient operation of power systems. Automated overcurrent protection is done by programming a Arduino (microcontroller) with standard ABB moderately inverse relay characteristics where the relay operates automatically in a permissible time whenever there is an over current (abnormal or fault condition) in a power system [2]. Keywords Current tap setting (CTS), time dial setting (TD), Electromechanical relay (EMR), Primary current (Ip), Secondary current (Is), Pick up current (Ipc), Multiple of Current tap setting (ki), Operation time (t) I.INTRODUCTION Present power system is in need of a high level of redundancy and reliable protection devices along with the periodic maintenance to keep the system healthy. • 5. Relationship Between Self Regulation And Motivation Discussion: The articles chosen for this project provide developments in how teachers can motivate students to self regulate their learning. Sansone and Thoman reach a conclusion in their research that made a critical case of the relationship between self regulation and motivation. The purpose of their argument was to explain the importance the interest experience plays in students maintaining motivationin order to self regulate. They used research already completed to explain their suggestion that the interest experience is the missing piece in the self regulation model . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich conclude from their study that students who adopt a learning goal orientation tend to show more motivation towards self regulatory strategy use. They further conclude that motivation and strategy use are strongly influenced by goal orientation and the outcomes are not just reflective of stable individual difference . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich, based on their results, explain that learning goal orientation promotes motivational beliefs, which in turn led to higher levels of self regulation when compared to the other goal orientations. The articles through their conclusions each had their own strengths and weaknesses. Sansone and Thoman s strengths were shown through the extensive amount of research they completed to provide evidence to their arguments. They used a collection of different studies to explain their argument that gave justification to their conclusions. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Laguna s believe that the dead individuals become the cloud people who eventually give them a gift of rain. Rain is a vital element of the Native American life because it is one of the factors that sustain life. According to the short story, The Man to Send Rain Clouds by Leslie Marmon Silko, it is evident that the traditional Laguna Native American burial conflicts with the Catholic Church after the death of the old man. According to the traditional rituals, the dead man is supposed to have a feather tied on their head, their faces smeared with four colors, they should be wrapped in a red blanket and buried with corn meal and water should be sprinkled around their graves. Most of us were truthful or maybe semi truthful and said that it was a required course. The course was required for me, but I was eager to see what it was all about. I was hoping to learn about journalism and possibly how media affects the way people think. Boy was I back in the past. After a little coaxing; via reflections and videos, I started to understand this class and what I was learning from it. At first these images of things moving at a whirlwind pace overwhelmed me. I don t really have an affinity for changing my phone or my computer on a whim. Moving on to the next best thing freaks me out. I just got comfortable with the Android I have now and the newest versions are out. As people may be able to see, I don t like change. I reluctantly found this out while watching the videos related to class. More and more people are throwing away the outdated and buying the new, just because it is newer innovation. Not any eye opening experience; nonetheless, humbling. Humbling because via the class I found that whether I like it or not; to move forward my thinking will need to change. Without understanding change has to happen, I may be left behind. The most significant point that was instilled my thought of being old school was learning where technology is going. • 10. The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel Essay Elie Wiesel s speech The Perils of Indifference is a mind opening and emotional speech that prompts the audience to change the indifference that plagues America and many people in this time and age. He expresses to the audience that indifference is the reason appalling and horrifying events, such as the Holocaust, occur and why no one takes immediate actions to help the victims. To get his point across, Wiesel uses his own history and experiences so that the audience can visualize the Holocaust through the eyes of a survivor and to project the feelings of hopelessness and defeat that the victims felt when no one came to end the injustice. In this critique, Elie Wiesels rhetorical speech of indifference will show its effectiveness through testimony, emotion, and rhetorical questions; this speech accomplished its goal and without a doubt persuaded most of the audience to call out for change in indifference. The Holocaust is widely known as one of the most horrendous and disturbing events in history that the world has seen; over six million lives were lost, in fact the total number of deceased during the Holocaust has never been determined. The footage of concentration camps and gas chambers left the world in utter shock, but photos and retellings of the events cannot compare to being a victim of the Holocaust and living through the horror that the rest of the world regarded in the safety of their homes. • 13. Lady Chatterley s Lover Lady Chatterley s Lover, written by DH. Lawrence was first published in 1928. The novel follows around the protagonist of the story, Lady Constance Chatterley. The story is about how this woman, who is trapped in a loveless and almost sterile marriage, finds emotional and physical love with the gameskeeper of her husband s estate. As a story about the relationships between men and women, I find this book a very nice read, but with Lawrence also using this novelas a way to show his readers the evils of machines and capitalism, at times I find it lacking. Lawrence has two main themes in this book; first, the relationship between men, women and how they find love; second, industry vs. nature. Both can be discussed to show how they are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This does not work for me in this novel because he never tells or shows the whole aspect. By this, I mean he never shows how all view industry. He does not show how the workers themselves feel about how they live. I believe that he tries to show in this novel how he felt about mining towns and those who work there and expects the reader to also despise industry as a whole. The first theme works in this novel because Lawrence shows very different aspects of what some of the characters feel on relationships. He shows the good and the bad and lets the reader draw the conclusion that Lady Connie and Mellors relationship is a true one. He does not do this for the industry vs. nature theme. He only shows the negative and forces the reader to choose the nature side of the theme. I agree with the words of Pablo Neruda, who said Lawrence s work impressed me because of the poetic quality and certain vital magnetism focused on the hidden relationships between human beings. (93) This novel does give great insight to the working of relationships between men and women. Lawrence does a convincing job of showing the reader what it takes to have fulfillment from a relationship and what a person must sacrifice to obtain it. With this in mind, I find it difficult to see why anyone would want to consider censoring or banning this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Progressivism was the change development that kept running from the late 19th century through the main many years of the 20th century, which driving educated people and social reformers in the United States looked to address the monetary, political, and social inquiries that had emerged with regards to the quick changes carried with the Industrial Revolution and the development of current private enterprise in America. The Progressives trusted that these progressions denoted the end of the old request and required the formation of another request suitable for the new mechanical age. Expansionism was motivated by various progressive ideas. Imperialism was an adjournment of the movement to direct and normalize society, economics, and government. Order, Regulation, and World Economy The United States dominated the world market in producing items by 1900. They produced petroleum and agricultural machinery to sewing machines and cameras. Foreign investments tremendously increased from $700 million in 1897 to 2.5 billion in 1908; and again to $ 3.5 billion my 1914. Businesses in the U.S. eventually controlled about 78 percent of all the mines in Mexico (silver, lead, and copper) by 1917 and about 58 percent of oil production. The U.S investment nearly approached $1 billion toward just Mexico alone. Due to the laissez faire policies the American interest in international market places needed protection. Ru always knew he had dashing good looks, as he was quite proud of his thick, jet black hair, his cloudy grey eyes, and his toned body. On top of all that, he had a great charm. While silently adoring himself, Ru made his way to the Starbucks on campus to treat himself to an iced coffee. As he was strolling along the pathway, he looked up at the clear, blue sky, watching a few birds fly by. On his left, he spotted a few more kooky girls who were crazy for him, so he ducked his head and stared at the patterned brick path beneath his feet, and kept walking. Ru eventually reached the familiar glass door at Starbucks and pushed forward with his head still lowered. Suddenly, he felt something hit his chest and saw a pile of textbooks on his feet. Ru immediately raised his head, only to find a girl with her hands and knees on the ground. Their gaze met each other for a few seconds, then Ru instinctively bent down to help the girl pick up her books. He noticed the faint smell of cigarettes. I m terribly sorry, I didn t mean to do that, Ru said apologetically, I just wasn t watching where I was going. Totally my fault. The girl nodded timidly but was too shocked to say anything and just kept staring at Ru. Here you are, Miss. Lenora. Ru chirped as he handed her stack of textbooks back. Lenora was almost too bewildered to speak. The man in front of her was too beautiful. She was already lost in his captivating grey eyes, his bold, straight eyebrows, and his alluring tinted lips. Th thanks, Lenora hesitated as she quickly tucked her blonde hair behind her ear, sorry, but how did you know my name? Ru replied, I saw it written in one of your books and assumed ... [http://www.deanstalk.net/deanstalk/2006/01 /the_theory_of_e.html] Competitive advantages give a company an edge over its rivals and an ability to generate greater value for the firm and its shareholders. The more sustainable the competitive advantage, the more difficult it is for competitors to neutralize the advantage. There are two main types of competitive advantages: comparative advantage and differential advantage. Comparative advantage, or cost advantage, is a firm s ability to produce a good or service at a lower cost than its competitors, which gives the firm the ability sell its goods or services at a lower price than its competition or to generate a larger margin on sales. A differential advantage is created when a firm s products or services differ from its competitors and are seen as better than a competitor s products by customers. You ll also need to research the current competitive landscape in order to understand whether the proposed idea or action is viable. Whether you are implementing a new software or equipment or launching your own new product, you need to compare the proposed product or service with other similar items on the market. This might mean you need to compare the feasibility of your chosen software (for example, accounting platform) with other products on the market. What are the benefits of your proposed choice and what are the weaknesses? Are the risks associated with your chosen software smaller or bigger than those of competitive products? The same analysis applies when launching a new product. Part of your feasibility study must then focus on understanding what the customers are looking for and whether your proposed idea answers these needs. You should also compare the proposed product with the existing products or services and focus on the advantages, as well as disadvantages, you might have. Step 4: Examining the market conditions You also need to examine the market conditions. There are four specific points of analysis when it comes to the market in terms of feasibility. These are: Defining the target market. Studying the buying habits of the target market. Understanding the sale and market share outlook of the proposal. Outlining the product awareness that is required for the use of your product or service. The main goal of this part of the feasibility study is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lewis and the Influence of Dante in Out of the Silent Planet All throughout Lewis novels there is evidence that clearly connects the themes and symbolism from other aspects of traditional Christian literature both during and before he began writing. One of the most distinct examples of this occurring within Lewis works is the influence that Dante had on the concepts that he reflects on while conveying thoughts to his readers. This is specifically more notable a connection between Dante and Lewis when you examine the parallels that take place within Lewis Out of the Silent Planet and Dante s Inferno. The literary tradition left behind by Dante is both one able to influence the thoughts of others and to teach the value of Christianity through within a fictional environment. This is similar to Lewis Space Trilogy in more ways than one, some of which include Ransom journey in place of the pilgrim as he travels through strange, new, territory in order to reach his goal, and the use of Malacandra to represent the levels of Hell. Each book in the Space Trilogy continues to expand on the possible influence that Dante may have had on Lewis while he wrote these books and aims to show Christians the truth behind the Dante s thoughts through the use of science fiction. Many elements found within Dante s Inferno are reintroduced through new ideas by Lewis within Out of the Silent Planet in order to convey Christian thoughts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This decision came after the Nodaway County Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) committee approved the tax adjustment application from Tenaska Clear Creek Wind. The turbines will be north of Gray s Truck Stop, continuing to the Iowa border and just west of Pickering Missouri. According to Monte Ten Kley, Director, Strategic Development Acquisitions at Tenaska the project began in 2008 but Tenaska was not involved until the summer of 2016 and has recently really started to take off. Additionally, Tenaska is known for being a good business neighbor in communities where its plants operate, Ten Kley said. Those facilities have a long standing record of support for broad based community programs, including food pantries and local Scout troops, and employees donate thousands of hours of time annually to community projects, from serving on school boards to tutoring students and coaching athletics. According to Ten Kley the Missouri and the Midwest have some of the best areas for wind farms. The Midwest has some of the best wind resources in the nation and recent advances in turbine technology have continued to increase the feasibility and cost competitiveness of wind projects in Missouri, Ten Kley said. It was only a few years ago, however, that I found myself intrigued by a very unusual type of mathematics, which intersected with another passion of mine, baseball. Baseball was simple enough to understand, yet captivating and stimulating. One element of baseball that fascinated me, was the focus on the individual. Much of the game is played as one on one, pitcherverses batter, and thus there are few parts of the game that depend on abstract concepts such as teamwork and communication. These immeasurable factors which play an integral part in sports such as basketball and football, are less significant on the baseball diamond. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 History tells us that it has been a long road to liberty and a continual fight for civil rights for those with disabilities. One of the most influential times for change in the lives of disabled Americans occurred during the 1960s and 1970s, and became know as the Disability Rights Movement. Structured Inequality/Rationale: After the world wars and Vietnam War, there were many disabled American veterans who faced challenges and prejudice they had not experienced before. Alongside those fighting in the Civil Rights Movement were disabled veterans and other people with disabilities. They too were fighting against inequalities and discrimination. The Disability Rights Movement occurred due to several issues rooted in structured inequalities. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was an example of inequality built into legislation as it prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, or national origin (Cornell), but did not address discrimination based on disabilities. Inaccessibility and negative societal views excluded those with disabilities from their rights. There was a need for a policy written specifically for the protection of persons with disabilities. Structured inequality in the U.S. economy was evident in occupational segregation and discrimination (Aguirre Baker, 1999). Such was the case for Judy Heumann, a disabled college graduate who, in 1970, was denied a teaching license from the state of New York because she failed a medical examination (Patterson, ... • 25. Exploring The Exotification Of East Asian Women In this essay, I will be exploring the exotification of East Asian women in modern day society. My area of investigation in this writing is how these tropes pose danger towards East Asian women, instead of the misconception that they feel flattered and sees it as a compliment . Orientalism is, according to Oxford English Dictionary, a term defined as styles, artefacts or traits considered as the characteristics of the people and cultures in Asia . It is also defined as the representation of Asia in a stereotyped way that is regarded as embodying a colonialist attitude1. According to Edward Said, Orientalism exists in when the creation of representation of exotic lands does not imbue aspects of the society to be portrayed2. Orientalism became prominent since the 18th century, when Western colonialists began their domination in Asia. It is during the rise of colonialism in the 18th century when many Westerners fetishized the East. The generalization of the culture separates them as the East and the West, making East the Other 3. Otherness, resulted from Orientalism, have painted East Asian women as so foreign that from mid 1800 brothels until this day, racist humour about how the vaginas of East Asian women would defy all odds and look different in comparison. • 27. A Complex Adaptive System ( Cas ) Organizations and businesses are now seen as a function of increased specialization. Technology has become the order of the day where more and more businesses are heading towards that direction to have a competitive edge within the industry they best identify with. In light of this, conflicts are sometimes very challenging to comprehend, and theorists have also questioned the nature of the whole system to which all these complicating factors contribute. Many experts and scholars have argued that all these developments are characterized by a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). Most organizations are engulfed in planning activities such as formalized planning sessions that are of a strategic nature by design and to do this; business leaders tend to look for business intelligence, knowledge managementand other methods that will enable them to have active planning sessions in real time to match the ever growing system. What then is Complex Adaptive System? To best define CAS, we need to understand what a system is. A system is defined as an assembly of elements hooked together to produce a whole in which the attributes of the elements contribute to a behavior of the whole ( Complex Adaptive Systems, n.d.). Examples of systems include the human body, galaxies, ecosystems, airplanes and computers. CAS is the study of natural systems and how they interact, adapt, and survive over time (Evans, 2015). Reactant molecules (A) in the system with enough energy to reach the energetic peak, the transition state(symbolized by the double dagger, ‡) can continue forward along the reaction coordinate to conversion to product B. This minimum energy required is the activation energy. For the forward reaction, this is symbolized as Ea, fwd, and is the energetic cost required to advance the bond breaking in a molecule of A to the point where formation of the new bond in B can begin to provide an energetic payback. The increase in potential energy must be provided by the kinetic energy of the molecules in the system, which varies by temperature, according to a Maxwell Boltzmann distribution. There are 3 different phases of the critical reflection process. The first is deconstruction. This quote alone suggests the extent of what capitalism is to some Marxist critiques and this one is suggesting that the future is traded upon capitalism which relates to King s Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption as the prison system does determine the future of inmates yet inside the prison there is a capitalist structure. I will look at a plethora of characters in the novella and explore how their roles in the prison are used to reflect capitalist society: Andy a bourgeoisie socially but a proletariat politically, Red who goes under the system whom also, serves the proletariat even though he is one himself and the warden that uses his role as the bourgeoisie for corruption and power over the inmates. Despite the inmates being in a confined space and managed by the outside world. It could be argued that the Shawshank prison is formulating a society of their own. Kings use of the character, Andy, is vague. As it could be argued that his role changes throughout the novella. It could be said that there are many interpretations to where Andy s character develops as he can be measured by his political and social class as we see done by the prisoners and the wider society. Reiman wrote a book titled the rich get richer and the poor get prison this pragmatically shows that those who are poor go to prison. However, this is not the case with Andy due to the fact before he was in prison he was a successful banker so in fact he was not poor, opposing the view, that Reiman is signifying. Somewhat suggesting that King is stating that society could have an impact on any group of people regardless of what the backgrounds are or the backgrounds of the individual. Andy was a banker before he came to the Shawshank prison. In some lens he would be perceived as a bourgeoisie because of the class that would have been in. However, from a political lens it would be evident that Andy could be a proletariat for the ranks of the company that he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about A Respectable Trade and Amistad A Respectable Trade and Amistad An unfortunate part of history and labor involves European, American, and African slave traders engaging in the lucrative trade in humans. The movies, A Respectable Trade and Amistad show two slightly different slants to the same evil side of the concept of slavery. They point to an all too realistically gruesome picture of this despicable economic system. Although slavery contains some similarities to capitalism, it contains in it many differences as well, making it a distinct system from others that have existed. Slavery. Furthermore, serfs often had to pay taxes, serve in the army, etc... whereas slaves were usually exempt from such things since they were considered to be chattel. An indentured servant was a person who borrowed money and thus usually voluntarily agreed to work off the debt during a specific time period. While working off the debt they essentially became a servant, to those from whom they had borrowed money, for a specific period of time. Although contracts varied, sometimes they specified that the servants, when set free, were to be set free with some money, or a plot of land, or even a spouse. In contrast, if slaves were set free they simply had to hope for the generosity of their owners to prevail in any shape or form which it often did not. Peons were another group of laborers. They were people that were either forced to work off debts or they were people who were criminals. They did not have any prespecified length of time to work. Instead they simply had to work until their debts had been paid off. (Encyclopedia Britannica) Seeing what slavery is not, one must then ask, what is slavery? It had long hours, low pay, hired young immigrant women, and most importantly, had a dangerous work environment. On March 25, 1911, a fire started in the 8th floor on a rag tub and it spread throughout the factory. The fire department did come, but it s ladder and hoses were too short and couldn t reach the 8th floor so not many people were saved. The workers were neglected of safety measures and too overcrowded that not everyone survived. The Fire brought high casualties. There were over 500 workers at the factory, and it was a little space while much too overcrowded. If it is probable that the company will lose and the amount can be estimated, a journal entry is prepared to debit Loss from Lawsuit and to credit Lawsuit Payable. Accountants will record a journal entry to report a liability on the balance sheet and a loss or expense on the income statement only if the loss contingency is both probable and the amount can be estimated. If a contingent liability is possible (but not probable), no journal entry is needed. However, the accountant must disclose the contingent liability and loss in the notes to the financial statements. • 44. The Tempest Critical Analysis The Tempest is about an ousted Duke of Milan ,Prospero, who has been living in exile on a remote island for the past twelve years with his daughter Miranda. He is a powerful magician, who happens to be the master of Ariel and Caliban, and a guy who really likes his books. When Prospero s enemies wash up on shore, he uses his black magic to seek revenge and restore himself to power. The Tempestbelongs to the genre of Elizabethan romance plays. It combines elements of tragedy with those of romantic comedy, and like one of Shakespeare s playspreviously, it asks deeper questions that are not completely resolved at the end. The tone that seeps into the play is one of wonder, amazement, and admiration. Mystery is still present , but the magic performed is not black and scary. The version that seems to grasp my attention more, would have to be the Utah Valley University interpretation because it takes Shakespeare s main purpose and tone but shows it in its own unique way. Furthermore, with its silly drunkards, the play has a certain lightness to it and even the so called killers of the King tell hilarious jokes and are lighthearted. But there is also the tone of revenge and reconciliation in the play. We feel a revenge burning in Prospero while, at the same time, a wish for forgiveness and reconciliation with those who have wronged him. The Balinese production has a magical and mystical tone and is all caused by the effects the director decided to use to help make the tone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18 The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months (Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver. One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. This is showcased in a study on the Chicago Tribune that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Academic Characteristics Of Hip Hop Culture The purpose of this paper is to explore the major characteristics of hip hop studies, how they have evolved over the years, and how hip hop can be used to teach others. To begin, a great summary of the major characteristics of hip hop studies is The Kaledioscope of Writing on Hip Hop Culture by Gail Hilson Woldu. For instance, in his book Woldu discusses the academic characteristic of hip hop studies (Woldu, 10). The author gives several examples of major works that have come from academic writing. He also goes into great detail about what they each focus on. For example, Woldu mentions Black Noise from author Tricia Rose as being a book that falls into the academic characteristic of hip hop studies (Woldu, 13). Woldu states, .... this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, these are simply a few the many examples provided by Woldu. All of these examples go to show that the journals are a major characteristic. Finally, the last major characteristic of hip hop studies that Woldu discusses is what he calls the devotees (Woldu, 30). Woldu states, All are clearly more than devotees in the sense that they are far more than fans or hip hop groupies (Would, 30). Examples that he provides are, for instance, Bill Adler (Woldu, 30). Woldu states, Bill Adler, a former rap publicist...wrote a biography of rappers Run DMC (woldu, 31). Another example is Nelson George. According to Woldu, the recipient of two ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards and an American Book Award, George is the author of eight nonfiction books on African Americanculture... (Woldu, 31). Again, these examples go to show that this is a major characteristic of hip hop studies. Aside from simply looking at the major characteristics, one can also examine the ways in which they have evolved. For instance, one can dive into the evolution of the academic characteristic. One major way in which these characteristics have evolved is simply by the topics they cover. When looking at what was commonly talked about back in the early days of hip hop, and then compare it to the topics discussed today one will notice a difference. That main difference being that the topics are very thoughtful and look for deeper meaning. Furthermore, there is always room for more areas of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
