Ai Weiwei Contributions
Born in 1957, Ai Weiwei is an artist and activist, who is heavily influenced by his father s political
thinking about China. He is well known for his combination of art and society. Ai Weiwei began as a
self taught artist and worked as a painter and cartoon designer in the Beijing Film Academy. In 1981,
Ai went to America because he could not express freely in China. In the United States, he studied at
the Parsons School of Design and Art Student League. When Ai flew back to China, he brought back
different ideas from the American Democratic system. He did several political activities and was
arrested in April 2011, and released in June 2011 (Lao). The museum will display Ai Weiwei s
artworks for the winter season because his works are valuable culturally, unique and going to be
popular.
Ai Weiwei always tries to connect different subjects like, human rights, freedom and politics into the
Chinese culture (Lucas). In his works, there is always a meaningful message and is created to be
remembered. Through art he can express his caring to the public. Therefore, there is cultural
significance in it. For example, he used the same type of marble that was used for Chairman Mao for
Surveillance Camera for a historical purpose (Lucas). To indicate the value of the present society, he
collected the names of all the victims of the earthquake at Sichuan in 2008 and made people read out
those names on the media so that people can remember them. It has been printed out and put on the

John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending slavery. He was born
in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very loving
family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20 children from
those unions.
Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working as a
conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also started the
League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He later moved to
a free black farming community in New York.
In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown accompanied by
a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie Creek and brutally
murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. Later on Brown raided
Missouri, where he murdered a slave owner and freed 11 of his slaves. ... Show more content on

In 1859, John Brown, also know as Issac Smith, leased the Kennedy Farmhouse, just miles from
Harper s Ferry, Virginia. Brown planned out his attack on Harper s Ferry. He was going to provide
local slaves with weapons. He was hoping to pose fear in the slave owners. Despite the planning,
nothing went accordingly. The slaves didn t join his army as expected. The local police and the US
Marines under the authority of Robert E. Lee, put an end to the raid. Most of Brown s men were killed
or captured including his sons. Although, he was wounded badly, he was put on trial very fast and was
found to be guilty of murder, treason, and inciting slave insurrection in Virginia. John Brown was put

What Does The Colour Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
Analyse the symbolism of colour in The Great Gatsby.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel the Great Gatsby he uses many literary devices. One of the most obvious
is colour, and in this essay
I will explore how Fitzgerald uses colours like white, green and yellow to help convey 1920 s America
and Gatsby s struggle for Daisy
Buchanan.
White features most strongly in the novel and becomes a way for people to hide behind false facades.
In The Great Gatsby white symbolises royalty innocence and purity and can also be seen to represent
the way the wealthy falsely themselves. On the surface, the white symbolises their innocence and
purity, like when Nick first meets Jordan and
Daisy in flowing white dresses. Daisy s name is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of all the characters,
Gatsby himself fits best into this category; Gatsby lives in a green house surrounded by a green lawn.
This colour light becomes his hopes in the novel. Barely visible from his west egg dock is the green
light that marks out Daisy s on East
Egg. He reaches towards this in the darkness as the guiding light to his dream. Daisy also forms a key
part of Gatsby s American Dream so the colour green is also associated with this idealism. This
reaching for the light also shows how Gatsby wishes to repeat the past. In chapter nine Nick describes
the Green light to how America must have looked to early settlers.
Yellow symbolises a desire for wealth and it also represents the old money of East Egg. Much like
Daisy Buchanan the old money are false and misguided. Gatsby though is also bad beneath his
character, showing that this also applies to the noveau riche people, as they to are yellow inside. His
gained his fortune through the drugs trade and crime, meaning there is nothing innocent about his
fortune. This goes against the American Dream, as according to this money should be a reward for
honesty and success.
The valley of ashes is associated with a grey and gloomy colour. This thin strip of land between west
Egg and New York City is a long strip of desolate land created by the dumping of industrial ashes,
representing the moral and social decay that results from uninhibited pursuits of

The combined efforts of these workers present a powerful force for negotiation and influence. The
SEIU believes that the Healthcare industry is important and must have a voice. The Nurse Alliance
provides support for nursing professionals in the public, private and home health arenas. The SEIU
counts 84,000 nurses among its members. (Bush) In direct competition with the SEIU for the nursing
professional s support is the National Nurses United (NNU). The NNU is the largest nursing union in
the country. (Ashack) The NNU is a merger of multiple smaller organizations who together have a
membership exceeding 155,000. (Ashack) The NNU was formed in 2009 with the purpose of creating
a larger more powerful bargaining unit for negotiations. The NNU is a nursing organization and does
not funnel its funds to other sectors of the industry. This fact has been a driving force in their
increasing membership over the SEIU. But unionization has not been easy. As membership has grown,
so has the bully on the street mentality. Some associations do not want to be part of such a large
organization and may feel that they will be under represented in specific issues, and not all nurses are
for unionization. Many feel that unionization with suppress their opportunities to seek promotions,
raises and benefits as funds are watered down to cover many professions covered in the services
industry. Many cities and States have local organizations or associations which

Housing And Transportation Are Necessary In Today s...
I believe that housing and transportation are strongly related, they are both factors that highly depend
on each other. Housing and transportation can help lead to a high quality of life, for example, by being
close to work, having large green spaces or living in a walkable neighbourhood lead to a healthier life.
As stated in the textbook when a person is deprived of these factors they are living in layers of
interrelated disadvantages that leads to poor health, unemployment, high stress and crime. Both
housing and transportation are necessary in today s Canadian society, where people have to live at the
outskirts of cities in order to find affordable housing, due to gentrification in downtown cores which
has to lead to housing to be expensive.

Effects Of Water Pollution On India
Pure Indian carp are among the most sought fish in the world, and an entire fishing market has been
built around them for many centuries now. For the most part, they are only attainable from the Halda
River, which is a large yet singular source of natural carp breeding based in Bangladesh, and all of
South Asia has suffered its losses as of late to the tune of some 26 different fish species in general all
wiped out in seven years time by water pollution. India has been suffering similar water pollution
issues itself and has concluded that linking certain rivers may be the best way to deal with the
problem; however, new research indicates that this will have adverse effects on Indian ecosystems.
In Bangladesh, the construction of dikes and dams on either side of the Halda has contributed to the
proliferation of water pollution. A sizeable contingent of that pollution stems from the infirmed biotic
community in key areas. The river itself, mind you, is exceedingly long (98 km) with a rather
aggressive tributary known as the Dhurung River that merges with Purba Dhalai some 48 km
downstream. Halda stretches from the Badnatali Hill Ranges in the Chittagong Hill Tracts down
through Fatikchhari upazila, Bhujppur Thana, Hathazari upazila, followed by Raozan and then
Chandgaon Thana. It finally spills into the Karnaphuli River, and all of these mouths, so to speak,
indicate to anyone who knows rivers that the Halda River is a fairly massive body of water feeding an

The Story Of Logan O Brien s Kidnap Catastrophe
Kidnap Catastrophe
Logan O Brien snuck into the local hospital. It was nothing special, old roof and long hallways that
needed a new paint job, but it would help Logan get what he needed. Most of the hospital was full of
people sick with the flu, but that was not the reason he was here. He was here to get medicine for his
little brother, Newt, who had a deadly disease that caused him to see his worst nightmares.
Logan needed the medicine, so every Thursday he would sneak into the hospital to get the insulin
Newt needed. It was, infact, the only insulin in the whole kingdom of Athens, and it was not needed a
lot, so it was not produced as much as most medicines. That s why he did this, stole from the local

reached the doors of the hospital and he left. When out of the sight of everyone, he took off the guard

When he arrived to his mother s house, an old log cabin, he slung the door open and ran into the living

Psychology Personal Statement Essay
Of all the A Levels I study, psychology is definitely the most relevant to day to day life; it raises
questions related to various aspects of our lives and demonstrates how open minded we must be in
order to gain higher levels of understanding in terms of behaviours and mental conditions. Having
looked into various career options I have decided I would most enjoy a career in the avenue of
psychology. At the moment I am leaning towards clinical psychology however, I also have interest in
counselling psychologies and music therapy. These career options I believe utilise my skills in
listening to others and rationalising their views. I further developed these skills in high school when I

how OCD affects a person s life and explains how though we all have ego syntonic thoughts from

them is so much harder as it affects even a task considered normal . I have also watched various
documentaries like Extreme OCD Camp , How Crazy am I? and Thin , as well as having read fictional
psychological books, through these I have been able to evaluate how people with mental illnesses
become stigmatised due to the label of their illness, however, without that label people can often seem

Essay On Asian American Culture
Understanding of the different cultural and racial population is important for counselors to recognize
and consider in counseling. Due to the various approaches that should be taken when dealing with
different cultures. Our textbook states Counseling without attention or respect to the critical
differences of diversity will likely not be successful. (Clinton Ohlschlager pg. 617) It is like you must
put their shoes on, within the context of culture for the counselor to be effective. For example, when
dealing with Asian clients they are very likely to have intense familial relationships. This contrasts
with modern day United States American culture; our culture is centered on the self, not the us.
Some of the Cultural psychosocial issues for Asian cultures are. Stress and conflict dealing with the
American view of individualism, assumptions based upon perceived intelligence in math and science,

Regulating Tap Water
In America, we tend to take for granted our simple luxuries in life. Running water would be
considered to be among these in most cases. We turn on the faucet, and out comes a safe and
refreshing source of sustenance that is vital to our well being. Now, if you can imagine, what happens
when that refreshing drink of water is not replenishing your body, but killing it. A silent poison
contaminating your way of life, only to find out years later that every ailment you and your family
have endured and possibly even succumbed to, would be blamed on a source of drinking water. This is
exactly what happened to the individuals that were stationed or employed at Camp Lejeune, North
Carolina from the years of 1953 to 1987. The most horrifying of ... Show more content on

fluoride additive depending on the approved ordinance of the local water supply, which can help
individuals avoid tooth decay. Because most bottled waters have been treated and distilled or de

The Role Of Dozza Prison In Italy
As human beings are weak compared to Jesus, we are easily affected by evil temptations such as greed
or anger. Consequently, we have committed crimes or broke rules at least once in our lives and
regretted what we did. Even though, breaking rules is natural behavior for us, it is not simple to punish
or forgive criminals. Most people claim that laws are the absolute truth or value to punish and judge
people who break laws. However, reality is not that simple; there are complexed values such as
emotion that cannot be written on the paper. If law was the absolute punishment, no one would feel
guilty and struggle after they punished by the laws or would blame others after they finished their
punishment. Then, how can we truly forgive ourselves? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home
Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives
There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home. But they do tend to
cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the
new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down.
Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do
this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates.
Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or
even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are
related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission,
and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in
closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent
that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often these are the homes
that didn t have some of the options other homes in the same tract had. In order to sell these homes,
they may offer free upgrades for one or two features. This will add value to the home without an
increase in the home s price tag. Examples of these upgrades include a skylight, appliance upgrades,
and additional

Analysis Of Truman s The Truman Show
The Truman Show is centred on a man made island called SeaHaven where a man named Truman
Burbank has been televised without his knowledge since birth. The show is a 24 hour live tv show
where every aspect of Truman s life is shown. As Truman grows older he begins to notice unsual
events that leads him to believe that there is something incongruent with what people are telling him
and what he experiences in his day to day life. As Truman begins to test the boundaries he realizes that
the town seems to revolve around him and his desire to escape comes to an all time high. Eventually
Truman begins on a journey to escape his virtual reality. Despite the boundaries that the director
throws at him he eventually escapes and will try to find his way in the real world. This movie made
me sympathize for Truman being that he has no privacy and is oblivious to his lack of freedom. This
movie shows how it is possible to create an ideal community and how New Urbanism can be created
and maintained.
New Urbanism essentially promotes an inclusive community that is close in proximity, which the
ccreator of the Truman Show creates. There is many positives that comes with New Urbanism most
being that all aspects of the city would be in walking distance which results in reduced cars and mixed
housing. New Urbanism brings on increased communication and interaction between individuals
which is facilitated by a city centre. Mumford writes about how a city is a theatre of social action (CR

Female Saudi Perception Of Online Banking
This study will focus on the female Saudi perception of online banking because limited studies have
been performed.
Aljasser and Sasidhar (2013) stated, in Saudi Arabia, both traditional banks and women only banks

investigate female Saudi users perceptions toward online banking in Saudi Arabia. Statistically, this
research will identify the factors that influence Saudi female users to adopt online banking. Online
banking services are beneficial for the consumer; it offers remote electronic services for users
(Wischnevsky Damanpour, 2003). A convenient environment to do their transactions through online

Montazemi and Qahri Saremi (2015) argued that online banking provides the users with benefits such
as cost savings, greater control over service delivery, reduced wait times, higher perceived levels of
customization, and convenient access to services without time or space constraints (p. 1). Online
banking will provide Saudi female users with completely flexible and quick service (Abdalkrim

In order to explain the questions of whether or not Chavez has increase or decreased democracy in

different in every country and that each country has a different perception or view on what democracy
really is, has been very difficult to have a specific concept that fits all criteria. For some, democracy is
based on how democratic institutions perform in the countries and for others is based on the majority
rule. For the sake of this report I will focus on democratic institutions as a based of how democracy
has decreased in Venezuela through out Chavez regime.
As I said before, many critics agreed that Hugo Chavez has been able to diminished Venezuelan
democracy to convert it to a competitive authoritarian regime. Chavez has controlled the country and

the poor to support him and agreed with him in many of his reforms and actions. Allying himself with
leftist countries like Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and especially Cuba, Chavez has implemented what

Adolescent Behavior And Abusive Situations
Abstract An estimated 20 people per minute in the United States are abused by an intimate partner
each year (Breiding et al., 2014). Many reasons have been identified that prevent women from leaving
and remaining out of abusive relationships. Such factors include economic, religious, cultural, and
psychological (.e.g. fear, learned helplessness, self esteem). Yet, there has been very limited research
that examines the neurocognitive issues that influences a woman s decision return to abusive
situations, despite opportunities and resources to leave. The following study will explore possible
implications of addictive behavior towards abusive situations in battered women due to
neurocognitive dysfunction. We hypothesized that battered women will present with decision making
impairment similar to persons with substance dependency and other addictions. Findings will shed
light on the need to develop more comprehensive prevention and intervention measures to decrease
the number of women who return to abusive situations. Background Currently, the United States
spends an estimated eight billion dollars per year on medical and legal expenses alone (Burnett, 2014).
Unfortunately, the physical, psychological, and emotional costs to women and their children are
immeasurable. Women of domestic violence often experience both acute and chronic health problems,
substance abuse, and psychological disorders. (Breiding et al.,2014). . More recently, there has

Teen Depression In Teens
Depression In Teens Suicide is the second leading cause of death in adolescence fifteenth through
nineteen only after traffic accidents (Klass). Teenage depression is a serious mental health problem
that causes teens to have the persistent feeling of sadness and lack of interest in activities. Depression
changes the way teens think, feel, and behave. Some people may wonder why depression is even a
concern, but depression itself causes two thirds of suicides (Department of Health). Most people don t
know what causes depression, the most common causes of depression are biological chemistry,
hormones, it can also be inherited; some people s depression stems from childhood trauma, or having
negative thoughts that give you a negative mood. There are chemicals in the brain that if abnormal or
impaired the function of nerve receptors and nerve systems change, leading to depression. Inheriting
depression is not simple, no one simply inherits depression from their mother or father, each person
inherits a unique combination of genes from their mother and father, and certain combinations can
predispose them to a particular illness (Department of Health). Childhood trauma, such as sexual or
physical abuse, domestic violence, neglect or parental loss, can have long lasting consequences,
researchers are exploring the effects of early trauma on the stress response systems (Department of
Health) that can later can lead to depression later in life. Teen depression may be linked to

Bar Mitzvah s Compared To Confirmation
Bar Mitzvah Bah Mitzvah s Compared to Confirmation
Catholic and Judaism are considered opposite religions, yet they share very similar rituals and
ceremonies. A Catholic child typically around twelve or thirteen years old goes through their
confirmation. This is a ceremony where the young adult promises to follow with the religion and
continue to learn about the faith. In the Jewish faith when a girl is twelve and a boy is thirteen they
celebrate their Bah Mitzvah if they are a girl or Bar Mitzvah if they are a boy. This ceremony is also
when the young adult promises to follow their religion and stay close to and learn more about their
faith.

A Bar Mitzvah or Bah Mitzvah is celebrated in a similar manor to the Catholic Confirmation. During a
Jewish Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah the child that is becoming of age reads from the Torah in front of
the Sabbath congregation, they say prayers and read other readings. After the ceremony at the
synagogue the whole family gathers to congratulate the young adult who just took their own step into
the faith of Judaism. At these parties a lot of food is served, the person who just had their Bah/Bar
Mitzvah receives their gifts. There is no religious aspect to the after party of the ceremony at the
synagogue so anything can take place during the party and it can have a theme to make it more
entertaining for the guests.
These two religions have celebrated these ceremonies for centuries and both religions continue to
today. Even though the religions beliefs conflict with each other it is no secret that they are very
similar in a lot of ways. The Confirmation ceremony and the Bah /Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are a
perfect example of this. They are celebrated almost the same but Catholic s now do confirmation with
groups and Jews still have individual Bar/Bah Mitzvah s. Besides that one difference the ceremonies
are both pretty much the same. Both the ceremonies are for the young adult to admit to the
congregation that they will continue to follow in the faith. Both ceremonies require readings and

Patton was given command of the first and second Armored Divisions and organized a training center
in the California desert soon after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. In late 1942,
Patton headed to North Africa at the head of the American force. Before the troops landed on Morocco
s Atlantic coast he gave the troops, what is now, a legendary philosophy of battle: We shall attack and
attack until we are exhausted, and then we shall attack again. Patton led the American into their first
major victory after a series of defeats. In order to prepare the U.S. 7th Army for its invasion of Sicily
Patton turned over his command in North Africa. During this time Patton s reputation suffered greatly
after slapping a soldier, who was suffering from shell shock, accusing him of cowardice. This incident
landed Patton a reprimanding from President Eisenhower and he was forced to make a public apology.
Despite this fact, the invasion of Sicily was a major

My Semester Into Advanced Psychological Foundations Of...
Learning and Teaching
Introduction
As I review my semester in Advanced Psychological Foundations of Education, I m aware of all the
tools I have collected over the past few months. Learning strategics, such as: social constructivism,
emotional competence and myths about dual language learners will now become part of my planning
resources as I prepare lesson plans for my students. During our three face to face sessions, there were
three topics that spoke to me as an teacher the most: classroom community agreements, moral
behavior and culture in the classroom. I would like to discuss how these themes have enhance
teaching and learning skills for my students and myself as an lifetime learner.
Classroom community agreements
Professional and personally, I will usually partake in an idea when, a theme states, agreement in the
title. I ve always appreciate ways of bring my students and I to a united front. The classroom
community agreement provided open communication, and is co created by the whole group to make
something easier for everyone (J.Hart, personal communication, August 29, 2015). In my preschool
class this year, I was able to use classroom community agreement tool on our first day, September 1st,
2015. Just like our face to face meeting, I used this tool to establish our guild lines for respectful ways
in our classroom. I wrote our guild lines on a large poster board and everyone signed the bottom of the
paper even, our center site manager. My

Lille Tisages
1. Should Lille Tissages lower the price to FF15? (Assume no intermediate prices are being
considered)
My recommendation for Lille Tissages would be to keep their prices at the current FF20 and not to
lower it back to FF15 again. While creating my analysis (which is based on the financial data in
Appendix1), I considered the following angles:
a) Profits. From profit angle, the scenario is straightforward, at any given volume, based on the
estimation from the financial director, the profit would be higher by keeping the price at FF20. In fact,
as per presented projection, FF15 will never reach BEP and won t make profit at all (in fact it makes
loss), while FF20 will always produce profit, even at the suggested very low volume (which ... Show

Likewise, there is no certainty that keeping the FF20 price will result 40% drop on the customer
volumes, especially if we consider the market conditions, also mentioned just above.
2. If the department that produces Item 345 was a profit center and if you were the manager of that
department, would it be to your financial advantage to lower the price?
No, it wouldn t. If I m the manager of a profit center, my primary goal is to create profit within the
boundaries of my department, and given the current conditions, this is not possible with FF15. So, if
the only choices are FF20 and FF15, I would stick with FF20.
However, if I really were in a real life situation, I would make the following suggestions:
a) bring down the costs and make the fabric profitable even at the price of FF15, and much more
profitable at FF20. Material, material spoilage, direct labour and direct department expenses are not
the ones I can achieve any savings, these are already as lean as possible (considering the current
equipment; the future modernisation might change this picture). Indirect department costs (the only
fixed ones) are already scaling down nicely as the production volumes are raising, so that area is again
not the one I should concentrate on. General overhead varies only very

Psychology Paper Reign over Me
Reign Over Me
Reign Over Me by Mike Binder shows the life of a man who loses everything on the day of September
11, 2001. Charlie Fineman played by Adam Sandler suffers the loss of his wife and three daughters in
the tragic plane accident. Despite five years passing Charlie has not yet been able to deal with his loss
and as a result creates his own world of vinyl records and video games. By doing so he isolates
himself from anything and everything that reminds him of what he once had; leaving his once blissful
apartment full of bare walls.
Flashbacks are a key characteristic of a person who suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder.
However, in the movie the audience does not witness Charlie having any flashbacks, although he does

This aspect of the film, although heart wrenching, shows that Charlie does have some recollection of
the events leading up to the plane crash. A person suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder has the
tendency to not think about those events and even supresses them (Lilienfeld et al., 2010). Despite this
microscopic flaw, Reign Over Me is most likely the greatest movie representation of a person
suffering from PTSD. In a chi squared test at the University of Liverpool of individuals with chronic
posttraumatic stress disorder, findings revealed that men are likely to increase alcohol consumption as
a result of a traumatic event (Z. I. Kekelidze et. el, 2009) .In the movie we also witness Charlie
purchasing alcohol and drinking the entire bottle before attempting to have himself shot by police
officers.
Charlie s battle with chronic PTSD is a difficult journey as he drowns himself in music in order to
prevent himself from thinking about the things which he fears most. Director Mike Binder incredibly
enables the viewer to enter the mind of a person suffering from PTSD and successfully stays true to
the not only the symptoms of the disorder, but also its effects of loved ones and the individual
themself.

West Hendon Regeneration Scheme
The London Borough of Barnet Council sought to acquire the subject land, and the new rights over it,
in order to facilitate the regeneration of the West Hendon Estate and its immediate surroundings. The
scheme aims to provide; up to 2,000 residential dwellings, a new primary school, a community
facility, commercial units, and improved infrastructure in the area. The proposal is intended to provide
significant social, economic and environmental improvements for existing residents (The London
Borough of Barnet Council, 2014). It is to be delivered by Barratt Metropolitan LLP, a partnership of
Barratt London and Metropolitan Housing Trust, forming part of the wider Brent Cross Cricklewood
regeneration area, although being progressed independently.
The West Hendon regeneration scheme was identified in 2001 when the Decent Homes programme
required local authorities to offer residents a certain standard of housing. The West Hendon estate
failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration
would be the best way to achieve these. The Council s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of
the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent Homes
Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing buildings
within the Estate. The required area of land was defined and referenced as to land ownership and
occupation. The scheme has been split into development

Social Determinism And Its Impact On Society Essay
Philosophers have attempted to define human nature for centuries, each coming up with a radically
different idea of what makes us human. These determinists relate outside events or forces as the
reason behind our actions. Our cognitive abilities separate us from beasts, however we are highly
influential animals unconsciously and subconsciously. Social determinism has distinctly shaped
mankind over time with a high degree of influence on our minds.
1. Historical Determinism
Fredrick Hegel s philosophy initially defined historical determinism and strongly influenced Germany
and Karl Marx. Hegel is highly recognized for his ideas of Geist and human progression over
generations with raised consciousness (Twelve Theories). With this view, he saw that throughout
history humans had advanced mentally and culturally to reach full development. With his various
works, Hegel influenced many readers and lead to the division of historical determinists. Hegel s
followers were categorized by the Left and Right camp based on whether or not they felt humans had
reached absolute knowledge (Twelve Theories). In the left camp, a philosopher that left an impression
on the concept of history named Karl Marx pushed Hegel s theories further.
Karl Marx criticized the other camp in his work, Philosophy of Right and expanded on his economic
standpoint. Working with Engels, he formed a materialism theory based off of the historical
determinist point (Twelve Theories). Marx argued that the

How Does Salt Concentration Affect The Rate Of Osmosis In...
In this experiment I am looking at what the effect of various salt concentrations will have on the rate
of osmosis in potatoes. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a high water potential to a
low water potential through a semi permeable membrane. All cells have semi permeable membranes
which means that it only allows certain substances in and out of the cell. Many factors effect the rate
of osmosis, this includes temperature and the amount of salt added.
I think that when the potatoe is placed in a salt concentration where the water potential is greater the
potatoe molecules will move from the potatoe to the salt and a decrease in the mass will happen. The
more salt there is in the water the fresher the potatoe will stay. The ... Show more content on

There are 3 different types of osmosis, they are called hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic. Hypertonic
is when water spreads out of the cell, making the cell shrink. Hypotonic is when water moves into the
cell causing the cell to swell or burst. Isotonic allows water to go in and out of the cell but the cell
does not shrink nor swell or burst. Pros and cons around osmosis: The pros around osmosis are the
water is outstanding and very clean, it is at a very low cost, the water tastes better therefore you would
want water instead of cola and food tastes much better. The cons around osmosis are the clogging in
the taps, filter replacement and it is a very slow process A filtration system is an ideal environmental
condition for optimal osmosis. The filtration will remove the solid particles out of the water, so that
you can drink clear, clean water. This process purifies water making it taste better. Water purifiers can

People can even go into management in the radiology field or expand out into sales of radiology
equipment. This field is also always in the top three annual revenue services in every hospital so it is
not a field that will be disappearing anytime in the future. With scientific advancements always
changing, there are no limits to where radiology can go in the future and may even find new
diagnostic studies that can be performed to help more people in need. Although radiology is a great
career choice, it does come with its down side. Technologists in many portions of the radiologic
sciences are exposed to certain amounts of radiation which has a negative effect on the human body.
There are many safety precautions that technologists have to take like wearing lead shields anytime
they are in the exam room with patients, and they also must record their employee dose, or their
personal radiation intake, by wearing a dosimeter and having the readings checked monthly to insure
that they are not getting over radiated over a certain amount of time. Overall, this is a very good career
choice and also makes me feel better to potentially help

The Two Eras of Globalization and Trade
Globalization and Trade: Since the mid of the Nineteenth century particularly after the end of the cold
war, Globalization has become the catchphrase that attracts everybody. However Globalization is a
complex concept to be defined, there are many different definitions of Globalization. According to
Thomas Friedman in his book The Lexus and the Olive Tree, he defined Globalization in terms of
PARADIGM SHIFTS as the follow: it is the inevitable integration of markets, nation states and
technologies to a degree never witnessed before in a way that is enabling individuals, corporations and
nation states to reach around the world farther, faster, deeper and cheaper than ever before and in a
way that is enabling the world to reach into individuals, corporations and nation states farther, faster,
and deeper, cheaper than ever before. Moreover, Globalization is represented in two eras. First, which
started in the mid of the nineteenth century and ended with the start of the World War I (WWI), and
the Second era began in the aftereffects of the World War II (WWII) and still continuous until today.
The Two eras of Globalization were described by increased cooperation and integration in trade,
smooth capital flows and free movement of labors. In another words, under the umbrella of
Globalization, any product that has been manufactured in somewhere in the globe could easily finds
its way into the market in another part of the world. In addition, since this process became the

Character Sketch Of Oedipus
Sophocles Oedipus is a standout amongst the most surely understood grievous legends ever. His
bizarre destiny drives him to terrible destruction that leaves both the peruser and the gathering of
people feeling candidly influenced. As indicated by the meaning of the Greek thinker, Aristotle,
Oedipus troublesome story qualifies him as a sad legend. Oedipus is the epitome of Aristotle s
portrayal of a shocking saint through his capacity to safeguard his excellence and intelligence, in spite
of his defects and scrape. The Aristotelian perspective of an unfortunate saint does not uncover the
absence of ethical quality or even the fiendishness of the hero, in view of a blunder of judgment. The
disaster and show so consummately fit the Aristotelian attributes of Oedipus. Thinking about Aristotle

Utilitarianism Research Paper
Utilitarianism in its most basic form explains that actions are only right or wrong in proportion to the
amount of right or wrong they produce. It lies upon the idea of a highest good or summum bonum
which is its foundation of morality. This theory is actually in opposition to the idea of egoism, which
proposes that a person should go after their own self interest rather than worry about the expense of
others. In fact, this theory argues against any moral or ethical theory that looks at actions
independently of their repercussions. In this paper I will spell out the theory of Utilitarianism and its
premises, and then discuss a possible objection to it, stating that Utilitarianism gives wrong answers to
moral and ethical questions. Before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found that the part where I see this interfering with the elements most would be in consequentialism.
Consequentialism states that an action s morality can only be determined by its direct consequences to
you and everyone around you. I disagree with this. The best way to show why is to give an example.
Imagine a doctor in the middle of surgery. The patient they have on the table is bleeding out and the
chances to save them are 50 50. Now in the other operating rooms, there are 3 patients that need
immediate transplants to survive. Should the doctor attempt to save the patient s life or sacrifice one
life for the wellbeing of three others? A strict consequentialist would say that the doctor must save the
three other lives rather than just the one. Take another example, let s say a simple promise. Imagine a
friend asked you to make a promise with them not do something. Later on, you find out that breaking
this promise brings more total pleasure to you and everyone around in comparison to keeping it.
Should you break it? A consequentialist again would say yes. Both of these examples imply that the
action with the most pleasure should be taken but these actions go against moral and ethical standards
in our society making them wrong. Allowing one patients death for three others is morally wrong.
Breaking a promise is also considered morally wrong. So how does one decide what to

Hypothesis 1: Gossip can positively change employee s and employer s perception on each other and
enhance teamwork.
Gossip can have positive effect on teamwork because it can increase positive feedback from
employees and also set up some norms in the office by shaping up employees perception on their co
workers, especially their bosses. After the forming of a new working group, gossip about their boss
usually comes around. For example, the gossip of an outstanding and serious boss enjoys watching TV

In these two examples, small gossip enables employees to build up an aggressive and humane
perception on the managers whom they had never met before, making the managers more
approachable and providing some valuable and critical feedback. With the suggestion from the
employees, managers can pay further attention to improve their work while employees will feel more
willing to be the subordinates and make affective commitment in the team. All of these can probably
enhance employee s perception of their bosses and a better relationship of them would be expected.
With a better relationship, they will be more willing to work with each others and it will benefit
teamwork in the office. Without these gap narrowing gossip, boss would be a brilliant and cold figure,
leaving the employees unwilling to communicate with him. Particularly, in the culture with low
uncertainty avoidance, these could lead to some potential miscommunication and suppress timely, but
needed, feedback (Bolino, et al., 2002), which could let the harmful effects of mismanagement
accumulate and damage the team dynamics.

Importance Of Religion In Puritan Society
During the Puritan Era of American history, religion was ingrained in every aspects of society.
Literature written in or set in that time shows how religion impacted daily life. Many famous pieces,
including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God clearly shows
the harsh Calvinist ideals of the Puritan Age. These famous works depict the Puritan s strict social
justices, a gospel based legal system, and an overall societal fear of displeasing an unseen power in
any way. Every text set in this time can be characterized by its substantial theme of religion and God.
Historians have said that the Puritan laws and restrictions were some of the harshest in all of the early
American colonies. The people back then firmly believed that words of God were law, and any who
deviated from them deserved to be punished. This harsh punishment is a major theme in The Scarlet
Letter. The first pages of the novel depict Hester Prynne s punishment for committing adultery and
having a bastard child. For this crime, Hester is confined in prison, put on display on the scaffolding,
moved into insolation, and for the remainder of her life she is forced to wear, [o]n the breast of her
gown, in fine red cloth surrounded with an elaborate embroidery and fantastic flourishes of gold
thread, ... the letter A . (Hawthorne 51) This severe punishment, for what today is not even considered
a crime, was justified to the Puritans because of their unwavering belief in the rules of the Bible. In the
Puritan Era, there was no laws that separated the church and state. Rather, in tiis time the church was
the state. Government officials were elected to implement the laws of God and this system of humans
enforcing of the Bible carried into their judicial system. The Crucible is centered around the Salem
witch trials. People were sent to hang because of the testimonies of a few young girls. Though there
was no evidence other than the girls claims, the judges firmly believed that those accused of witchcraft
were guilty. This hysteria continued for many months, causing about twenty innocent people to be
hanged. The main reason for this prolonged insanity is the major flaws in the court system. Danforth,

Summary Of We Are All Bystanders Essay
Everyday humans are presented with new opportunities and situations. These events can change the
way they think and make decisions. But it s the way it can change ones relationships that can really
hurt one s ability to care. There is a total of 7.442 billion people alive today. Yet only a small portion
of that are people one truly cares about. For many people, a specific setting, situation or emotion can
alter the way people can think rationally.
Throughout life, one is to see many people they don t know Humans walk past each other and no
interaction occurs. Depending on a particular situation one might be in, it can change the ability to
react, help and care for a stranger in need. In the article We are all bystanders , by Jason Marsh and
Dacher Keltner, it shows how in certain settings people don t act to help another, even though one
might want to. Everyday Stuart would board the bus and a couple of boys would tease him. I would sit
silent and watch. I wish I would ve helped (Marsh/Keltner 3). People develop a feeling that prevents
them from caring for strangers. This is due to a thought of peer pressure or judgement that could be
given to an individual for taking action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Assembly Line Olympics of History
Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost every
country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be required to
be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what they do to get
that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around since ancient times.
On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the more organized labor
becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job groups, food, child care,
and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was
divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the ones overseeing the work and directing
the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more
scholarly subjects. Next down the line were clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants
and traders underneath them who bought and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly
prisoners of war who were forced to work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in
modern day. The social/working pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government
officials, the politicians, the doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class,
and even convicts who work to earn credit or are even forced to work.

From March 6 to April 15, 2017, Venus will go retrograde and this could mean a new type of love
based relationship in your life. However, from a cosmic perspective, this could potentially turn into
other problems that you have not expected. In other words, this not a time for you to change the status
of relationships or transition into new ones. This is basically the time to revaluate any commitment or
relationship you are currently in. Avoid making any decisions or sudden actions until April 15th which
is when the retrograde ends. A problem that you could face during retrograde is to figure out whether
or not you value certain relationships or people in your life. Take this month or so to better understand
your needs, wants and how

Software Upgrade. A Case Study of JetBlue and WestJet...
MANGERIAL IT (MBA 8290) HAMLINE UNIVERSITY
Individual Case Study: JetBlue Airways Corp, WestJet Airlines Ltd, and others:
The Difficult Path to Software Upgrades
Introduction
I would argue that any organization undergoing system upgrades should ensure that the end result of
such an upgrade must align with its business process and goals. There is no crystal ball that can show
if an upgrade will meet the entire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
JetBlue had a backup website.
Both airlines made changes to their flight schedules in anticipation of a glitch.
JetBlue chose a perfect time to implement its upgrade.
JetBlue s precautionary measure of having a backup website and extra workers helped minimized the
difficulties associated with software upgrade. We are told in the case that WestJet s website crashed
due to customers who flooded their site, and its call center was overwhelmed. On the other hand,
JetBlue contracted 500 outside reservation agents in anticipation of any issue. It routed basic calls to
temporary workers, leaving its own call staff to handle more complex tasks.
Why are ERP upgrades so complex and expensive? What roles does ERP customization, if any, play in
this progress? Can you discern a pattern in what seems to be the major cost drivers of the upgrade
process?
Enterprise Resource Planning is an enterprise wide information system designed to coordinate all the
resources, and information needed to complete business activities. It is a business management system
that attempts to integrate multifarious functions of an organization. ERP serves as cross functional
enterprise backbone that integrates and automates many internal business processes and information
system.1 It promises one database, one application, and a unified interface across the entire enterprise.
The success of a functioning ERP depends on a suitable system that aligns with the business process

Political Changes And Indicators Of Political Risk Essay
3. Political Changes and Indicators of Political Risk in Egypt
As mentioned before, components of political risk index are divided into six sub indicators. This
section examines changes in political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes and the
mutual relationship between the six sub indicators that form political risk index in Egypt.
3.1 Behavior of and Changes in Political Risks Sub Indicators
Figure (1) shows that indicators of political risk have had noticeable changes especially after 25th of
January revolution except for government effectiveness and control of corruption indicators which
stayed at levels 0.5 and 0.33 respectively during the considered period. The following points
summarize the performance of political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes in
Egypt. An indicator with points near to 1 indicates a relatively very low risk indicator, while an
indicator with points near to 0 indicates a relatively very high risk indicator.
The most vulnerable and risky indicator of political risks sub indicators is voice and accountability
indicator, as points awarded to this indicator were always below 0.5 and hence it is always located in
very high risk zone. Prior to 25th of January (from 2006 to 2010), the indicator recorded 0.4 average
points and during revolutions period this average points has been dropped to 0.24. Voice and
accountability indicator recorded average points 0.33 during the whole considered period

The Stuffed Winnie The Pooh Bear Analysis
Growing up, I owned a stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear. I loved the show, and loved Pooh even more. On
Sundays, I would dress my Pooh bear in my sister and I s doll clothes and bring it with me to church.
One Sunday, an older kid at Sunday School mocked my Winnie the Pooh bear, because Pooh is a boy
but I made mine wear a dress. At the young age of 5, I didn t understand why Pooh couldn t be a girl
to me, even though the character from the television show was a boy. I left Sunday School that day sad
and confused. I always thought of Pooh as a girl, and it crushed me to find out different. I decided I
would change my favorite character to a girl character, get a new stuffed animal, and let her wear
dresses to church to avoid getting mocked. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this continues, girls self confidences will continue spiraling downward. Young girls ambitions will
be diminished, and will force themselves into being housewives or working at jobs society deems
appropriate for them. Women have made many influential changes in America the last century, why let
it all stop? As Katha Pollitt said, our preschoolers don t have time. My funny, clever, bold,
adventurous daughter is forming her gender ideas right now (Pollitt 3). It s possible that children could
try and monitor their own television usage, or that parents could monitor it more for them. However,
whether it be a minute or an hour, turning on the television to a children s program will display harsh
stereotypes and gender roles. That is why I suggest a change in entertainment. It s almost 2016,
television and books should be gender neutral and help kids aspire to be more, not

Dinosaur Extinction Research Paper
Dinosaur Extinction Sixty Five Million years ago, a giant space rock believed to be some six miles
across hit Earth near the town of Chicxulub, Mexico, blasting a crater more than 110 miles wide. The
impact is believed to have released as much energy as 100 trillion tons of TNT, more than 1 billion
times the power of the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. The
giant mosasaurs and plesiosaurs in the seas and the pterosaurs in the skies. Plankton, the base of the
ocean food chain, took a hard hit. Many families of brachiopods and sea sponges disappeared. The
remaining hard shelled ammonites vanished. Shark diversity shriveled. Most vegetation withered. In
all, more than half of the world s species were obliterated.

The United States Tax System
Past Influences, the United States Tax System
The Power of Tax
Franklin D Roosevelt once said Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership
in an organized society . Though the word, tax, itself has so much power the basic definition is to
asses a fee against a citizen person, property, or activity for the support of the government (Tax, n.d. ,
para. 2). Just mentioning taxes as a headliner on a newscast will draw the public in to listen to the
news. The word is unescapable since as citizens of the United States taxes are paid on almost all
earned income and on the majority of goods or services purchased. In order for the federal government
to fund for expenditures related to the economy; taxes are collected from ... Show more content on

14). Over the years no internal revenues were collected, hence to raise money for war Congress would
raise excise taxes, custom duties, and issue Treasury notes (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14).
Civil War Influence Initially few taxes did exist in the United States, however it was not until 1862,
and Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law (Brief History of IRS). During this time period
the nation was going through the Civil War, and in order to support the war Congress established the
office of Commissioner of the Internal Revenue (History of Income Tax). The Commissioner of 1862
still has the same obligations, thus the power to collect taxes, levy, seize property, assess, and enforce
tax laws. Throughout the Civil War any person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the
rate of three percent, while people that earned more than $10,000 paid a higher rate of five percent
(History of Income Tax).Although the people who earned more were taxed at a higher rate in the
course of time, a standard deduction of $600 was also enacted for rental housing, repairs, losses, and
other taxes paid (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14). With the end of the Civil War, the necessity
for the additional tax revenue began to diminish as well as public support of the individual income tax
rate. Congress did eventually decrease the

DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The...
Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the Amazonian
Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the Piraha. Everett, is
a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language,
but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up
his faith for the name of science and language. His novel is a page turner, it make the reader to want to
keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his
words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him.
Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years
learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive
languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan
system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world,
along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living
in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it
lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the
males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting
with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain
part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives.
These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally
quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day
very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and
vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. It was also
interesting to read that

Childhood Attrition
In order to be eligible for the study, children must have attended TOP for at least eight continuous
months the year prior to entering kindergarten. Once parents of children who were still attending a
TOP preschool signed consent forms, the first cohort of children were chosen. The overall
participation rate was 99% (out of 114 eligible children, 113 parents consented). Unfortunately, as
with the majority of longitudinal studies, a handful of students either moved or relocated. Attrition
occurred as a result of students leaving, and resulted in a reduction in the number of participants
through the passing years.
The researchers gathered data from two school districts within the local area. A corresponding control

His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very loving family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20 children from those unions. Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working as a conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also started the League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He later moved to a free black farming community in New York. In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown accompanied by a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie Creek and brutally murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. • 4. What Does The Colour Symbolize In The Great Gatsby Analyse the symbolism of colour in The Great Gatsby. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel the Great Gatsby he uses many literary devices. One of the most obvious is colour, and in this essay I will explore how Fitzgerald uses colours like white, green and yellow to help convey 1920 s America and Gatsby s struggle for Daisy Buchanan. White features most strongly in the novel and becomes a way for people to hide behind false facades. In The Great Gatsby white symbolises royalty innocence and purity and can also be seen to represent the way the wealthy falsely themselves. On the surface, the white symbolises their innocence and purity, like when Nick first meets Jordan and Daisy in flowing white dresses. Daisy s name is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of all the characters, Gatsby himself fits best into this category; Gatsby lives in a green house surrounded by a green lawn. This colour light becomes his hopes in the novel. Barely visible from his west egg dock is the green light that marks out Daisy s on East Egg. He reaches towards this in the darkness as the guiding light to his dream. Daisy also forms a key part of Gatsby s American Dream so the colour green is also associated with this idealism. This reaching for the light also shows how Gatsby wishes to repeat the past. In chapter nine Nick describes the Green light to how America must have looked to early settlers. Yellow symbolises a desire for wealth and it also represents the old money of East Egg. Much like Daisy Buchanan the old money are false and misguided. Gatsby though is also bad beneath his character, showing that this also applies to the noveau riche people, as they to are yellow inside. His gained his fortune through the drugs trade and crime, meaning there is nothing innocent about his fortune. This goes against the American Dream, as according to this money should be a reward for honesty and success. The valley of ashes is associated with a grey and gloomy colour. This thin strip of land between west Egg and New York City is a long strip of desolate land created by the dumping of industrial ashes, representing the moral and social decay that results from uninhibited pursuits of ... Some associations do not want to be part of such a large organization and may feel that they will be under represented in specific issues, and not all nurses are for unionization. Housing and transportation can help lead to a high quality of life, for example, by being close to work, having large green spaces or living in a walkable neighbourhood lead to a healthier life. As stated in the textbook when a person is deprived of these factors they are living in layers of interrelated disadvantages that leads to poor health, unemployment, high stress and crime. • 7. Effects Of Water Pollution On India Pure Indian carp are among the most sought fish in the world, and an entire fishing market has been built around them for many centuries now. For the most part, they are only attainable from the Halda River, which is a large yet singular source of natural carp breeding based in Bangladesh, and all of South Asia has suffered its losses as of late to the tune of some 26 different fish species in general all wiped out in seven years time by water pollution. India has been suffering similar water pollution issues itself and has concluded that linking certain rivers may be the best way to deal with the problem; however, new research indicates that this will have adverse effects on Indian ecosystems. In Bangladesh, the construction of dikes and dams on either side of the Halda has contributed to the proliferation of water pollution. A sizeable contingent of that pollution stems from the infirmed biotic community in key areas. The river itself, mind you, is exceedingly long (98 km) with a rather aggressive tributary known as the Dhurung River that merges with Purba Dhalai some 48 km downstream. Halda stretches from the Badnatali Hill Ranges in the Chittagong Hill Tracts down through Fatikchhari upazila, Bhujppur Thana, Hathazari upazila, followed by Raozan and then Chandgaon Thana. It finally spills into the Karnaphuli River, and all of these mouths, so to speak, indicate to anyone who knows rivers that the Halda River is a fairly massive body of water feeding an intricate ... Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home. But they do tend to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home buyer. This movie made me sympathize for Truman being that he has no privacy and is oblivious to his lack of freedom. This movie shows how it is possible to create an ideal community and how New Urbanism can be created and maintained. New Urbanism essentially promotes an inclusive community that is close in proximity, which the ccreator of the Truman Show creates. There is many positives that comes with New Urbanism most being that all aspects of the city would be in walking distance which results in reduced cars and mixed housing. Many reasons have been identified that prevent women from leaving and remaining out of abusive relationships. Such factors include economic, religious, cultural, and psychological (.e.g. fear, learned helplessness, self esteem). Yet, there has been very limited research that examines the neurocognitive issues that influences a woman s decision return to abusive situations, despite opportunities and resources to leave. The following study will explore possible implications of addictive behavior towards abusive situations in battered women due to neurocognitive dysfunction. We hypothesized that battered women will present with decision making impairment similar to persons with substance dependency and other addictions. Findings will shed light on the need to develop more comprehensive prevention and intervention measures to decrease the number of women who return to abusive situations. Bar Mitzvah s Compared To Confirmation Bar Mitzvah Bah Mitzvah s Compared to Confirmation Catholic and Judaism are considered opposite religions, yet they share very similar rituals and ceremonies. A Catholic child typically around twelve or thirteen years old goes through their confirmation. This is a ceremony where the young adult promises to follow with the religion and continue to learn about the faith. In the Jewish faith when a girl is twelve and a boy is thirteen they celebrate their Bah Mitzvah if they are a girl or Bar Mitzvah if they are a boy. This ceremony is also when the young adult promises to follow their religion and stay close to and learn more about their faith. A Bar Mitzvah or Bah Mitzvah is celebrated in a similar manor to the Catholic Confirmation. During a Jewish Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah the child that is becoming of age reads from the Torah in front of the Sabbath congregation, they say prayers and read other readings. After the ceremony at the synagogue the whole family gathers to congratulate the young adult who just took their own step into the faith of Judaism. At these parties a lot of food is served, the person who just had their Bah/Bar Mitzvah receives their gifts. There is no religious aspect to the after party of the ceremony at the synagogue so anything can take place during the party and it can have a theme to make it more entertaining for the guests. These two religions have celebrated these ceremonies for centuries and both religions continue to today. Even though the religions beliefs conflict with each other it is no secret that they are very similar in a lot of ways. The Confirmation ceremony and the Bah /Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are a perfect example of this. They are celebrated almost the same but Catholic s now do confirmation with groups and Jews still have individual Bar/Bah Mitzvah s. Besides that one difference the ceremonies are both pretty much the same. Both the ceremonies are for the young adult to admit to the congregation that they will continue to follow in the faith. Learning and Teaching Introduction As I review my semester in Advanced Psychological Foundations of Education, I m aware of all the tools I have collected over the past few months. Learning strategics, such as: social constructivism, emotional competence and myths about dual language learners will now become part of my planning resources as I prepare lesson plans for my students. During our three face to face sessions, there were three topics that spoke to me as an teacher the most: classroom community agreements, moral behavior and culture in the classroom. I would like to discuss how these themes have enhance teaching and learning skills for my students and myself as an lifetime learner. Classroom community agreements Professional and personally, I will usually partake in an idea when, a theme states, agreement in the title. I ve always appreciate ways of bring my students and I to a united front. The classroom community agreement provided open communication, and is co created by the whole group to make something easier for everyone (J.Hart, personal communication, August 29, 2015). In my preschool class this year, I was able to use classroom community agreement tool on our first day, September 1st, 2015. (Assume no intermediate prices are being considered) My recommendation for Lille Tissages would be to keep their prices at the current FF20 and not to lower it back to FF15 again. While creating my analysis (which is based on the financial data in Appendix1), I considered the following angles: a) Profits. From profit angle, the scenario is straightforward, at any given volume, based on the estimation from the financial director, the profit would be higher by keeping the price at FF20. In fact, as per presented projection, FF15 will never reach BEP and won t make profit at all (in fact it makes loss), while FF20 will always produce profit, even at the suggested very low volume (which ... Likewise, there is no certainty that keeping the FF20 price will result 40% drop on the customer volumes, especially if we consider the market conditions, also mentioned just above. 2. If the department that produces Item 345 was a profit center and if you were the manager of that department, would it be to your financial advantage to lower the price? No, it wouldn t. If I m the manager of a profit center, my primary goal is to create profit within the boundaries of my department, and given the current conditions, this is not possible with FF15. So, if the only choices are FF20 and FF15, I would stick with FF20. However, if I really were in a real life situation, I would make the following suggestions: a) bring down the costs and make the fabric profitable even at the price of FF15, and much more profitable at FF20. Material, material spoilage, direct labour and direct department expenses are not the ones I can achieve any savings, these are already as lean as possible (considering the current equipment; the future modernisation might change this picture). Indirect department costs (the only fixed ones) are already scaling down nicely as the production volumes are raising, so that area is again not the one I should concentrate on. Despite this microscopic flaw, Reign Over Me is most likely the greatest movie representation of a person suffering from PTSD. In a chi squared test at the University of Liverpool of individuals with chronic posttraumatic stress disorder, findings revealed that men are likely to increase alcohol consumption as a result of a traumatic event (Z. Social determinism has distinctly shaped mankind over time with a high degree of influence on our minds. 1. Hegel is highly recognized for his ideas of Geist and human progression over generations with raised consciousness (Twelve Theories). Hegel s followers were categorized by the Left and Right camp based on whether or not they felt humans had reached absolute knowledge (Twelve Theories). In the left camp, a philosopher that left an impression on the concept of history named Karl Marx pushed Hegel s theories further. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a high water potential to a low water potential through a semi permeable membrane. All cells have semi permeable membranes which means that it only allows certain substances in and out of the cell. Many factors effect the rate of osmosis, this includes temperature and the amount of salt added. Now in the other operating rooms, there are 3 patients that need immediate transplants to survive. Should the doctor attempt to save the patient s life or sacrifice one life for the wellbeing of three others? Imagine a friend asked you to make a promise with them not do something. Later on, you find out that breaking this promise brings more total pleasure to you and everyone around in comparison to keeping it. Should you break it? A consequentialist again would say yes. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be required to be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what they do to get that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around since ancient times. On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the more organized labor becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job groups, food, child care, and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the ones overseeing the work and directing the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more scholarly subjects. Next down the line were clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants and traders underneath them who bought and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly prisoners of war who were forced to work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in modern day. • 45. The Stuffed Winnie The Pooh Bear Analysis Growing up, I owned a stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear. I loved the show, and loved Pooh even more. On Sundays, I would dress my Pooh bear in my sister and I s doll clothes and bring it with me to church. One Sunday, an older kid at Sunday School mocked my Winnie the Pooh bear, because Pooh is a boy but I made mine wear a dress. At the young age of 5, I didn t understand why Pooh couldn t be a girl to me, even though the character from the television show was a boy. I left Sunday School that day sad and confused. I always thought of Pooh as a girl, and it crushed me to find out different. I decided I would change my favorite character to a girl character, get a new stuffed animal, and let her wear dresses to church to avoid getting mocked. However, ... Young girls ambitions will be diminished, and will force themselves into being housewives or working at jobs society deems appropriate for them. My funny, clever, bold, adventurous daughter is forming her gender ideas right now (Pollitt 3). It s possible that children could try and monitor their own television usage, or that parents could monitor it more for them. However, whether it be a minute or an hour, turning on the television to a children s program will display harsh stereotypes and gender roles. That is why I suggest a change in entertainment. • 47. The United States Tax System Past Influences, the United States Tax System The Power of Tax Franklin D Roosevelt once said Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership in an organized society . Though the word, tax, itself has so much power the basic definition is to asses a fee against a citizen person, property, or activity for the support of the government (Tax, n.d. , para. 2). Just mentioning taxes as a headliner on a newscast will draw the public in to listen to the news. Civil War Influence Initially few taxes did exist in the United States, however it was not until 1862, and Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law (Brief History of IRS). During this time period the nation was going through the Civil War, and in order to support the war Congress established the office of Commissioner of the Internal Revenue (History of Income Tax). The Commissioner of 1862 still has the same obligations, thus the power to collect taxes, levy, seize property, assess, and enforce tax laws. • 48. DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The... Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novel is a page turner, it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him. Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading. The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. It was also interesting to read that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once parents of children who were still attending a TOP preschool signed consent forms, the first cohort of children were chosen. The overall participation rate was 99% (out of 114 eligible children, 113 parents consented). Unfortunately, as with the majority of longitudinal studies, a handful of students either moved or relocated.
