Six Sigma is a quality improvement methodology that aims to reduce defects to 3.4 defects per million opportunities. It was developed by Motorola in 1986 and has since been adopted by many large corporations. Six Sigma follows two methodologies - DMAIC for improving existing processes and DMADV for developing new processes.
