Short Story On The Knrooks
Why are the knickers on your ankles and the bra on your wrist? It should be the other way. Edward
cocked his head as if trying to understand the unusual method of entrapment. Really that is your
question, can you remove them? The trapped student was busy trying not to squirm. Were they Worn?
A disgusted look crossed Edward s face quickly. No, I don t think so, at least I hope not. An
expression of morbid distress crossed his face. Hmm good. I guess I can remove them. Edward
hummed gently studying the undergarments in disdain. I just realized that they are poking a

good Joshua anymore, you care to add. Sir Nicklas clapped excitedly. No sir . Very well . Sir Nicklas

door listening. Very good, he purred in satisfaction. The meek boy was learning to stand out.

Water Effects On Aboriginal People
Today, the Aboriginal people aren t treated nearly as harsh as they were back then, but the Aboriginal
rights have still continued to be repressed and they are being treated poorly. Let s take the water issue
for Aboriginal people, for now, 80 Aboriginal communities are under, boiled water advisories and 21
of those communities have a high risk of contaminated water otherwise known as polluted water. The
Canadian government apologized to the Aboriginals, but that apology only addressed the residential
schools and ignored all the times they raided and broke the Canadian Constitution of 1982. Another
problem for them is the poor houses, an example is the Attawapiskat First Nations, who drew massive
media attention to the housing problem and

The Properties Of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates contain the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and are hydrated due to the 2;1
ratio of hydrogen and water. Carbohydrates have 3 groups; monosaccharides, disaccharides and
polysaccharides (see figure 7) Monosaccharides are simple sugars that made up of 1 sugar unit and
include glucose, fructose, galactose which are substrates for respiration. When 2 monosaccharides
gain a glycosidic bond to attach to another they become disaccharides. On the reverse, when they are
broken down from 2 to 1, a condensation reaction and this is called hydrolysis. Adding one
monosaccharide after another to the chain, it polysaccharides; this is called condensation
polymerisation and the monosaccharides are then referred to as monomers. The properties of a
polysaccharide molecule depend on the length and any folding which results in a more compact
molecule. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an oligosaccharide chain links to a lipids of a suitable amino acid side chain in proteins, they
usually present as glycans, by N or O glyosidic bonds. N linked oligosaccharides are always
pentasaccharides attached to asparagine via a beta linkage to the amine nitrogen of the side chain.
Alternately, oligosaccharides that are O linked are commonly attached to threonine or serine on the
alcohol group of the side chain. Not all natural oligosaccharides occur as components of glycoproteins

Taser Research Proposal Essay
Research Proposal
Tasers
Definition of the Research Problem/Question The research topic we have chosen to research is Tasers.
The use of Tasers has been a very controversial topic in the last few years. Reporters, doctors, and
human rights groups have all expressed concern that police officers will use a Taser in situations when
no weapon is required and concern has also been expressed over if the Taser is really a less lethal
option. No one claims the use of Tasers to be risk free but studies have found them comparatively safe.
We believe that people opposed to Tasers ignore a body of the reports showing the technology is safe
and effective. The research question we hope to answer is: Is the deployment of a Taser a safe and
viable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media has made this topic a very controversial topic. If there is a story of someone getting tased
anywhere in the United States for anything, including having a weapon in their hand pointed at a law
enforcement officer, it will be on the Ten o clock news top story. The media makes citizens question
law enforcement actions because they only show the part of the story that has the greatest shock
factor. The reporters play the part of the video that makes the point they do not show the complete
video and explain what happened. Another issue that is on the rise is citizens believing that some
suspects that die after being tased is the result of the Taser. This is another problem the media has
created by telling the initial story and flashing Taser death all over the screen and don t do a follow up
story explaining the other reason why the person died that was tased. There is usually a medical
condition involved with the death. If the public does not receive the whole story how can they make
an informed decision if Tasers are a safe and viable option to deadly force.
Relevance
In our research study we hope to show that the goal to Tasers it to provide law enforcement with
alternatives to deadly force in order to minimize harm to both community members and police. We
also want to show that no use of devices or techniques may be safe to everyone, but that we can t look

Islam, like Judaism and Christianity, traces its ancestry to the patriarch Ibrahim or Abraham.
Corresponding to the Qur an, the sacred book of Islam, Ibrahim and Isma il together constructed the

Women s Precarity Analysis
Consequences of Women s Precarity
The systemic, cyclical nature of precarity for women in the labour market as described above creates
significant negative consequences for individuals, families, and society. Though the consequences are
numerous, a handful are presented here for illustrative purposes of how endemic this issue is.
Low wages/income are an earmark of non standard/secondary market work. Women (along with youth
and people with lower levels of education) are most likely to be working for minimum wage
(primarily in service sector jobs) (Galarneau Fecteau, 2016). Lack of a living wage for secondary
labour market jobs factors into the precarity model and economically disadvantages women/families.
The economic inequality of women s precarity contributes to an even greater issue, their social
inequality. The labour market and neoliberalism, in conjunction with economic austerity and an
extreme decrease in social welfare initiatives (all factors in precarity), contribute to the social
exclusion of women in Canada. Social exclusion the division between the haves and the have nots is
spawned from the barriers ( socioeconomic disparities ) that prevent individuals or groups full
participation in the social workings of society, and women experience it relative to their level of ...

Loss of consumer confidence, cost of high turnover, lack of spending in the market, and the inevitable
deprivation of government revenue all harm the ability of the free market to sustain itself on a model
of precarity (Fleury, 2016). The normalization of precarity creates a cycle that will be even harder to
overcome in the future, and perpetuates the gender inequality that already

Democratic Views Of The Athenian And Spartan Governments
The Athenian and Spartan governments had extremely different approaches to life. The democratic
views of the Athenians were open minded and curious, focused on development. The oligarchic views
of the spartans were more narrow minded and restricted, focused on constancy. The athenian
democracy distributed power very well and gave everyone a fair share in the decision being made.
Athenian life was comfortable and free, the polar opposite to the cruelty of Spartan life. The Athenian
democracy also used their wealth very wisely inciting the development of their civilisation. Based on
the information below, the Athenian population lived a happier life.
The way the athenian government gave power was very effective and fair. Power is the hands not of a
minority but of the whole people (From Alternative Two, from Thucydides, History of the
Peloponnesian War) In the Athenian democracy decisions are made by a vote of the majority and then
a decision is made by the outcome of the vote. Since all citizens could hold government positions
(From powerpoint used in class, Athens and Sparta) The majority was making decisions based on
what the people wanted modified or advanced, not a unwanted aristocratic tyrant like in the Spartan
oligarchy. The citizens of sparta did not have this luxury. We give obedience to those whom we put in
positions of authority (From Alternative Two, from Thucydides, History of the Peloponnesian War)
This quote implies that in order for the Athenian

Microfridge
A
Report on
Microfridge: The Concept
Introduction:
Robert Bennett, a 31 year old Master in Engineering, decided to quit his job and start a business with
his new concept of the Microfridge . This was a design that incorporated a refrigerator, freezer and
microwave into a single compact unit. He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator
shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa.
Analysing the Microfridge:
This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator
and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact
device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ...

Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to
target 120 colleges in a year.
Recommendation and Plan of Action:
To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using
their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the
market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create
trust and generate a greater brand following and value.
Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy
needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to
adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an
amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons
to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and
its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in
student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to
be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home.
A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press.

Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder
C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia Raindrops splashed
against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the Green Hills. So beautiful. So
unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before most people had cars. They had no televisions
and no radios. The world was big and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name was Clive Staples
Lewis, but he didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He made everyone call him
Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack was six, his family moved. The
New House was huge, with empty rooms, long hallways, and dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house
like that. Jack also liked exploring books. His mother and father loved to read, and they saved all their
books. They filled the New House with books books in the study, in bedrooms, and on the stair
landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s shoulders. Oh, the splendid hours he spent reading! On
rainy afternoons these books transported him to different times and different worlds. Jack made up his
own country called Animal Land. The animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older
brother Warnie wrote stories about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their
countries into one country called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then Warnie left for a
boarding school in England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was a boy, many parents did not

The novel The Devil in the White City is divided into four parts. The first three of the four parts take
place in Chicago between 1890 1893. In 1890, Chicago won the bid on the 1893 Columbian
Exposition. Daniel Burnham and John Root became the architects to build the fair. Burnham and Root
encountered many obstacles that threatened the success of the fair. Root died early on, which left
Burnham alone. Burnham wanted to build something that was more amazing than the Eiffel Tower. He
faced hurtles but found a new way to outdo the Eiffel Tower. He uses the Ferris Wheel. The fair opens
incomplete in 1893. The World s Columbian Exposition was designed for the commemoration of the
landing of Columbus in America.
Although the fair is opened he still works on the Ferris Wheel s completion. He also tries to boost the
attendance and make a profit. With the willingness, grace, determination, and persistence he and his
team complete the construction and increases the attendance. Unfortunately, the fair had to close early
due to the assassination of Mayor Carter Henry Harrison. This brought a cape of sadness over
Chicago. H.H. Holmes arrived to Chicago in 1889, in search of a doctor or pharmacist position.

Enlightened Philosophers (John Locke, Baron de...
John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Jean Jacques Rousseau were all enlightenment
philosophers. Each of these men had a particular view of government, society, and its citizens and they
were all passionate about their works. Locke (1632 1704) was an English philosopher, his ideas had a
great impact on the development of political philosophy and he is widely regarded as one of the most
influential enlightenment thinkers. Montesquieu (1689 1755) believed that all things were made up of
laws that never changed. His most famous work, The Spirit of Laws, outlined his ideas on how
government would work best. Voltaire (1694 1778) was a poet, an essayist, playwright, historian, and

People always abuse their powers. No matter how small the amount they have, they will push their
credibility to the edge. Constant experience shows us that every man invested with power is apt to
abuse it and carry it as far as it will go. (The Spirit of Laws) . As the renaissance came around,
Montesquieu would definitely not have had such a bad opinion of man. As previously mentioned, the
renaissance was a time for prosperity and there was a focus on humanism. Montesquieu believed that
men will abuse any power that they are given but during the renaissance, people were much different.
As for the Protestant Reformation, Montesquieu would probably feel the same way as his original
philosophy. Nobody liked each other during the Protestant Reformation but the liked the government/
churches even less. There s no doubt that people would abuse their power and the government should
be split in 3 sections. However, during the Scientific Revolution, Montesquieu would feel the same
about the people and probably would view the government the same way. During the Scientific
Revolution, people were recovering from the Protestant Reformation but it was the abuse of power
that put them there in the first place and they needed a stable government.
Jean Jacques Rousseau was similar to Locke in his belief of a government. Rousseau believes that
government is necessary for

Self Promotion and Celebrity Endorsements of Healthy Lifestyles
In his book Celebrity and Power: Fame in Contemporary Culture, P. David Marshall states The close
scrutiny that is given to celebrities is to accentuate the possibility and potential for individuals to
shape themselves unfettered by the constraints of a hierarchical society (246). Therefore, celebrities
are seen as role models for a lifestyle that might never be fully attainable by the average person, but
can be imitated. What is ironic then is that following a celebrity endorsed lifestyle does not create
individuality, but reduces it. While celebrities endorse products, they also appear in advertisements
which promote a healthy lifestyle where through the abstinence ... Show more content on

Both phrases are denotationally persuasive, letting parent know that following what is said in the ad
will lead to happy children and good parent child relationships. The way to achieve this is by reading
the information, but also buying concert tickets and supporting the band. As well, near the bottom of
the advertisement, the tag line We All Make a Difference appears under the Budweiser logo. By
adding this in, parents can also be persuaded to enjoy the beer responsibly as the company projects
itself through this advertisement as one that is concerned for the health and safety of children. In all
these ways, the linguistic messages of the advertisement go well beyond promoting the cause, but also
promote the celebrity endorsers, and in this case, the product which the advertisement is deterring
children from.
The iconic messages in the advertisement are also at work to achieve the cross promotional result. The
non coded Budweiser logo works in conjunction with the tag line We All Make a Difference as
discussed above, to promote the brand of beer. What is more interesting however, is the use of the
band s image as a coded message. Each of the five band members are looking directly at the reader,
with serious expressions on their faces, presenting a sense of importance in the

The Oral Hygiene Maintenance Of An Disabled Children
Preventive dentistry is still a comparatively new and least understood subject in our country as
maintenance of oral hygiene is often neglected and pushed aside . When it comes to the oral hygiene
maintenance of intellectually disabled children, it takes a backseat due to the more pressing need for
education and medical treatment . According to WHO, Oral health means more than good teeth; it is
integral to general health and essential for well being. We use our face and teeth as a front to face the
world. We speak, smile, taste, chew, express our self using our oro facial structure. Disease of this area
severely restricts our physical, psychological and social activities and thereby decreasing quality of
life. The wider meaning of oral health does not diminish the relevance of two globally leading oral
afflictions dental caries and periodontal diseases. Both can be effectively prevented and controlled
through a combination of community, professional and individual action.1,2
According to DSM 5 ( Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders), Intellectual disability
(ID), also called Intellectual development disorder (IDD) or General learning disability, and formerly
known as mental retardation (MR), is a generalized neuro developmental disorder characterized by
significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning. It is defined by an IQ score below 70 in
addition to deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors that affect everyday, general living. Once

Comparing The Next War And The Charge Of The Light Brigade
The Next War is a poem by Wilfred Owen written during World War One, and The Charge of the
Light Brigade is a poem written during the Crimean War based on a charge in which misinterpreted
orders led to over 150 of 600 killed or wounded. The two poems hold different ideas, techniques and
themes. The main themes presented in both poems revolve around the subject of death, common
techniques such as personification and imagery are used to enhance our understanding of the war
against Death. Owen and Tennyson also share contrasting ideas on a soldiers will to fight which is
expressed in these poems. The differences and similarities between the two poems show the audience

other men for flags (being their countries), but they fight against Death, in order to save the lives of
their brothers. In The Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson tells the audience to Honour the charge

honour and noble to support their actions in following misinterpreted and unreasonable orders in
which he reasons, Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do die (lines 13

The opening of both stories are quite different. The Black Veil is written in the third person and The

His physical appearance is overcast a dark sallow man, with dark beard and rather heavy eyebrows.
Dickens description likens him to a ghost
the fixed eyed saturnine face . angry sunset is used to add a fiery red light to his dark valley, which is
shown with phrases such as his figure was foreshortened and shadowed , and again adding an element
of mystery because the narrator says I had shaded my eyes with my hand before I saw him at all to
first of all, introduce the spectre s gesture, but also to give the impression that the light doesn t reach
the valley, but skims the top and he has to block it out to see into the darkness, and by using the word
angry , he makes the sunlight seem almost intimidating in itself. He first plants the idea of the
Signalman not being all he seems, in the readers minds when he says, as the Signalman looks down
the Line, There was something remarkable in his manner of doing so, though I could not have said, for
my life, what. But I know it was remarkable enough to attract my notice which suggests that he is not
entirely normal. When the narrator asks about a path into the valley, he says the signalman
looked up at me without replying here, he seems to be somewhat preoccupied and maybe wary of him.
Dickens uses the phrase skimming away over the landscape , which sounds ghostly, to describe the
vapour given off by the train.

The standard rifle of the British army during World War I was the Lee Enfield .303, a variation of a
weapon that had been used by the army since 1902. Fed by a magazine that could hold 10 bullets, the

elitism (Lui 2000, 141). Chronologically speaking, the Tiananmen incident began as of April 15, 1989,
when Hu Yaobang died. For example, posters appeared at Beijing University on April 15, mourning
Hu as a fallen hero (Lin 1992, 3). Hu s death is therefore, seen as a catalyst of the student protests
since many students supported his stand against corruption and party elitism. They saw him as the
their only non corrupt and democratic official; but more importantly, their call for democracy and
freedom (Chiu 1991, 332). On April 16, 1989, many students gathered to attack the government,
which led to the following democratic demands on April 17; out of the seven stated a few will be

After the death of Zhou Enlai in 1976, major demonstrations took place in Beijing where protestors
were calling for the end to oppressive policies of the Cultural Revolution; in December 1986, student
demonstrations escalated into nation wide movements protesting the absence of democratic reforms
(Teiwes and Sun 2004, 212). In a similar sense, in 1989, Hu s death gave the demonstrators another
reason to comemorate his death and again call for democratic reforms. In addition, a number of
participants in the Democracy Wall movement of 1978 and 1976 demonstration in Tiananmen Square
were university faculty members in 1989, and many of them, most notably Feng Lizhi, played a role
in framing the issues publicly and signaling students to participate in the movement against corrupt
governments (Mason and Clements 2002, 173). Andrew Nathans (1990) argued that by 1989, what

Multiple Themes In Maus By Art Spiegelman
In the graphic novel, Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, there are multiple themes present throughout
the comics. One in particular, that becomes very repetitive, is the theme of how the way one was
treated in his or her past can influence the way they treat others in the present. This theme is evident
on page 45, where Artie and Vladek are eating dinner. During their meal, Vladek notices that his son is
not eating everything that is on his plate. Vladek then states, So it has to be, always you must eat all
what is on your plate (Spiegelman 45). The only reason why Vladek was so harsh on his son for not
eating all that was given to him was because when he was younger, his parents would force him to eat
everything on his plate, regardless if

Ancient Ghana Essay
Introduction
The people of Ancient Ghana were known as Soninke. The Soninke were the subgroup of Mande
speaking ethnic group. Ancient Ghana was one of Africa s hot spots for trading. This trade growth lead
to them to be one of the greatest empires in Africa. Location plays a key point to why they were
extremely successful, they were placed south of the Saharan desert and northwest of the Niger River,
quite a humid area. Ancient Ghana were the middle man to some other trading countries. One of their
trades, gold, was discovered in the 9th Century and it came in vast quantities. After the discovery of
gold, Ancient Ghana expanded, King of Gold is what Ghana means. The items they traded were gold,

A benefit for paying taxes. The second tax, known as production tax, this tax applied to gold.
Every single piece of solid gold in Ancient Ghana was owned by the king. Gold dust though could be
used by the traders for trading. With the trading of gold dust, it would boost the demand for it and the
price would go up, the king believed. Although people traded in the cities, silent bartering also took
place. One merchant would leave example 1 pound of gold and another merchant would take that and
leave behind one pound of salt. A system of trade that surprisingly worked.

I m A Social ( Network ) Drinker
Your identity is something that reflects your background and culture, and shows who you are. It s
something that is always changing as you meet new people, move to new places, or simply could just
change out of the blue. In the article I m a Social (network) Drinker: Alcohol Related Facebook Posts,
Drinking Identity, and Alcohol Use, the authors looked at the associations between social media and
alcohol use and how they affect our identity. Because we are all human,we are all trying to be
accepted by society, which causes people to shape their identities to the certain situation.
Drinking identity is a concept that I was rather unfamiliar with until this article. It is defined in this
study as a component of identity that is associated with heavier drinking and more negative alcohol
related consequences (107). Drinking identity is basically how alcohol affects your way of living.
Everyone s drinking identities are different because it is based on how much we drink, what we drink,
how often, etc. Drinking identity is used in this study to determine if people with higher drinking
identities post more on social media, or are more open with their drinking, whereas people with lower
drinking identities would post less.
The authors started this study off by getting access to 109 undergraduate students, dominantly
female, who were all pulled from their psychology class and offered credit for doing this experiment.

Early farmers in Europe and elsewhere practiced shifting cultivation, also known as swidden
agriculture.Although the lands around the Mediterranean seem to have shared a complex of crops and
farming techniques, geographical barriers blocked the spread elsewhere. Rainfall patterns south of the
Sahara favored locally domesticated grains sorghums, millets, and (in Ethiopia) teff over wheat and
barley. In the Americas a decline of game animals in the Tehuacån° Valley of Mexico after 8000
B.C.E. increased people s dependence on wild plants. Agriculture based on maize (corn) developed
there about 3000 B.C.E. and gradually spread. The first domesticated animal, the dog, may have
helped hunters track game well before the Neolithic period. Later, animals initially provided meat but
eventually supplied milk, wool, and energy as well.Meat eating did not decline during the revolution.

How Does Social Security Help To Underdeveloped Poor...
Picture years down the road, you are trying to get ahead in life, but debt continues to drag you down.
A family to provide for and someone is constantly breathing down your neck to pay your debts. Can
you imagine the sudden relief, of your debt being paid, every hard earned penny being your own, and
finally your family having enough food on the table.
Now lets apply this to underdeveloped poor countries. As the country struggles to get ahead,
international lenders drown them in their overwhelming debt, preventing them from every rising to the
surface.
Thus my first contention is Mercy. Mercy is having compassion or forgiveness shown toward
someone whom it is within one s power to punish or harm. As God has mercy on us, we should have
mercy on others. God commands us to be perfect, holy, and righteous, but these traits are unattainable
and God sovereignly understands, daily pouring His mercy out on us. By the same token, indebted
poor countries cannot live up to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine receiving news that your husband is dead. Three kids to provide for and you just lost your
job. What are you going to do? If you are an American, social security may help to soften the financial
nose dive. The definition of social security according to Merriam Webster is: A program in which the
government provides money to people who are unable to work because they are old, disabled, or
unemployed. This is the highest act of humaneness. How does this apply to our resolution? As an
American, you cannot be against removing the debt of highly indebted countries unless you also
condemn social security. Social security is there to soften the blow of individuals with health
problems, unemployment, and old age. If social security wasn t there, what would these individuals
do? Go into debt, for they simply cannot work. Thus international lenders parallel social security, the
main difference they demand a return

debenture is like a certificate of loan or a loan bond evidencing the fact that the company is liable to

instrument of a company evidencing a debt, whether constituting a charge on the assets of the
company or not.

Exploring the Foreclosure Crisis Essay examples
Mortgage. The word stems from the old French phrase mort gaige, which loosely translates into dead
pledge. Truth in title, it precisely sums up its bearing on modern homeowners. In order to fully grasp
the weight and severity of the former statement, a thorough definition must be produced. A mortgage
is a debt and/or pledge, which cannot be expunged under ordinary circumstances. Its demise depends
upon one of two occurrences, the first being its payoff. The other option is payment failure otherwise
known as foreclosure. The latter seems to be an unsettling staple of society in America and abroad,
thus fulfilling its namely obligation. More and more homes are going into foreclosure, leaving an
equal amount of homeowners to face the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To fully rectify this issue, we must root out the cause and begin the rehabilitation of its very
foundations, foundations being the operative word. The foundations are basically every participant in
the world of mortgage and real estate, but the most prominent characters are appraisers, realtors, banks
and surprisingly homeowners. This scenario was the product of a greedy, corruption filled industry
sponsoring a trickle down effect. Greed and corruption play obvious key roles in this particular
transpiration. They are counterparts for all parties involved. For example, homeowners know that
wealth equals power, as professed by the materialistic culture created by ourselves. In order to (please
pardon the colloquialism) keep up with the Joneses, one must have a big house, a big car and so on
and so forth. However, big houses cost big money, which a lot of people don t have. So prospective
homeowners tend to lie on loan applications, in order to live beyond their means, and purchase homes
that are far too expensive for their actual financial situation. Appraisers and realtors had a hand in
determining the price of these homes, often doing so in an unorthodox fashion. Appraisers used false
advertisement or rather false estimation in calculating the value of these homes, resulting in gross
inaccuracies. Realtors upheld their friends by listing these homes at their

Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm And Antigone

accomplishing something. Abuse of power is seen everywhere in our world. It has been prominent
throughout history dating back to the beginning of time to present. Power itself it not necessarily the
problem however excess of it or the potential holder of power may be. Countless people have abused
their power when in a position of authority. As I was taught, along with numerous schools today,
literature such as Animal Farm or Antigone portrays clear examples of abuse of power and how it
affects how the user. Introduced to me in the eighth grade, Animal Farm shows perfect example of

Creon, the newly crowned leader of Thebes was seen as a hero to the public in the opening. However,
as the play goes on, we learn that this said hero to the people frequently abuses his power through

brother. As we progressed through the play, Antigone approaches Creon and explains her reasoning
behind the burial and that it was not an act of rebellion. However, cold hearted Creon responded to
this by ordering the death of Antigone due to breaking his law and having a women assuming new

10 Things I Hate About You Belonging
Belonging and acceptance can be found in the relationships between people. This is clearly evident in
the relationships in the taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you. It is shown through these
relationships that we can see characters accepted and therefore feel a sense of belonging. Acceptance
and belonging can be shown in the taming of the shrew by the relationship between siblings; that
being Bianca and Katerina. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition which can be seen in act 1 scene 1 when
Hortensio describes the sisters and again when Katerina is slapping Bianca and ties her to a chair. The
use of juxtaposition, helps the audience to feel sympathy towards a character and deepen our
understanding of the character s personality. The alienation of Katerina is highlighted through the
crass treatment she receives from the unimpressive series of suitors in Padua, the way that her father
clearly prefers her younger sister and his overall view of marriage as a way of gaining wealth.
Therefore enforcing only through acceptance can we belong. ... Show more content on

convicted of these charges vary depending on the type of assault you are charged with. Third degree,

According to the Boulder County Bar Association, assault in the third degree is a class one

A huge thing to figure out about the Super Bowl is how much it would cost just to be there, you must
first pay for a plane ride there. A plane ride can cost a lot of money, I suggest that since the Super

double a normal plane ride. The cheapest airline to go from Spokane to Minneapolis is the Delta
airlines. It would range from 400 500 dollars, first class being 600 700 dollars. At the airport you need

Should The United States Congress Adopt The Presumed...

Should the United States congress adopt the presumed consent method for organ donations?
Introduction to Policy Controversy The current system of the United States as well as most of Europe
for organ obtaining is through presumed refusal, which is also known as the opt in system. In this
system a person s organs cannot and, will not be removed from his/her postmortem body unless he/she
has explicitly consented to this being done. (Taylor 383) Under this system, citizens must opt in to
become organ donors by registering to become donors. Consequently, this method of obtaining organs
does not produce very many organs up for donation. This is true for a variety of reasons, which is why
many are suggesting the United States should adopt a new system of presumed consent. Totally
opposed to presumed refusal, under presumed consent it is presumed that persons would prefer to
donate their organs for transplantation after their death (Taylor 383).
Perspectives on Existing Social Problems
Presumed consent is also referred to as the opt out system because individuals would have the option
of opting out of the system and not donating their organs. On a moral level, the debate between
presumed refusal and presumed consent seeks to achieve the fundamental goal of organ donation. The
goal is to show that their respective systems of organ obtainment are morally and economically
superior to the other methods.
Issues for social

Essay on The Enduring Loyalty, Love, and Compassion of...
Imagine leaving your wealth, home, family, and even country behind for twenty years. While away,
people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you
will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue
working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The
Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his
wife and live at the cost of his possessions. On the other hand, a few people like Eumaios remain
steadfast to the truth and work to maintain Odysseus estate and possessions. Eumaios, Odysseus

Eumaios feels the pain and hardship that LaĂ«rtĂȘs endures, as he feels that the distressed LaĂ«rtĂȘs needs
instantaneous notice of his grandson s return.
In addition to being empathetic throughout the poem, Eumaios loves those who need it most:
Odysseus, Telémakhos, and the swine entrusted to him. When everyone else had finished dinner and
went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock
where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly
treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the
vulnerable swine. Later, when Telémakhos returns from searching for Odysseus, it is remarked that
Eumaios kissed the young man s head, his shining eyes / and both hands, while his own tears brimmed
and fell (16.21 2). In Odysseus absence, Eumaios essentially assumes the paternal role in Telémakhos
life, and Eumaios was ecstatic to see that his son had returned safely to Ithaka and avoided the
murderous suitors. Another emotional scene takes place when Odysseus reveals himself to the faithful
swineherd and cowherd. When Eumaios hears the news, he puts his arms around the old soldier,
weeping, / kissing his head and shoulders (21.251 2). Eumaios beams with excitement and joy when
he finds out his long last master has finally returned;

  • 2. Short Story On The Knrooks Why are the knickers on your ankles and the bra on your wrist? It should be the other way. Edward cocked his head as if trying to understand the unusual method of entrapment. Really that is your question, can you remove them? The trapped student was busy trying not to squirm. Were they Worn? A disgusted look crossed Edward s face quickly. No, I don t think so, at least I hope not. An expression of morbid distress crossed his face. Hmm good. I guess I can remove them. A meek boy with a darker skin tone and black hair raised his hand. Yes, Joshua! Nicklas tried not to seem too eager. But he was a man who got easily overexcited about class participation. It is abilities that certain people are born with. The categories are Pure light, Grey arms, and Dark Cain. Very good. Sir Nicklas was smiling, and trying to keep the excitement out of his voice. Why are they called fates Joshua ? He was astatic this was the first year since Edward started here that someone knew. Then again Edward has always been an oddity. Because much like the original fate. The People do not have control over what they are born with. But at the same time, fate abilities usually come from a family history. Good. Very good Joshua anymore, you care to add. Sir Nicklas clapped excitedly. No sir . Very well . Sir Nicklas pouted and walked to the chalkboard. Water Effects On Aboriginal People Today, the Aboriginal people aren t treated nearly as harsh as they were back then, but the Aboriginal rights have still continued to be repressed and they are being treated poorly. Let s take the water issue for Aboriginal people, for now, 80 Aboriginal communities are under, boiled water advisories and 21 of those communities have a high risk of contaminated water otherwise known as polluted water. Carbohydrates have 3 groups; monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides (see figure 7) Monosaccharides are simple sugars that made up of 1 sugar unit and include glucose, fructose, galactose which are substrates for respiration. • 5. Taser Research Proposal Essay Research Proposal Tasers Definition of the Research Problem/Question The research topic we have chosen to research is Tasers. The use of Tasers has been a very controversial topic in the last few years. Reporters, doctors, and human rights groups have all expressed concern that police officers will use a Taser in situations when no weapon is required and concern has also been expressed over if the Taser is really a less lethal option. No one claims the use of Tasers to be risk free but studies have found them comparatively safe. We believe that people opposed to Tasers ignore a body of the reports showing the technology is safe and effective. The research question we hope to answer is: Is the deployment of a Taser a safe and viable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media has made this topic a very controversial topic. If there is a story of someone getting tased anywhere in the United States for anything, including having a weapon in their hand pointed at a law enforcement officer, it will be on the Ten o clock news top story. The media makes citizens question law enforcement actions because they only show the part of the story that has the greatest shock factor. The reporters play the part of the video that makes the point they do not show the complete video and explain what happened. Another issue that is on the rise is citizens believing that some suspects that die after being tased is the result of the Taser. This is another problem the media has created by telling the initial story and flashing Taser death all over the screen and don t do a follow up story explaining the other reason why the person died that was tased. There is usually a medical condition involved with the death. If the public does not receive the whole story how can they make an informed decision if Tasers are a safe and viable option to deadly force. Relevance In our research study we hope to show that the goal to Tasers it to provide law enforcement with alternatives to deadly force in order to minimize harm to both community members and police. We also want to show that no use of devices or techniques may be safe to everyone, but that we can t look just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corresponding to the Qur an, the sacred book of Islam, Ibrahim and Isma il together constructed the holy sanctuary, the Ka bah. • 8. Women s Precarity Analysis Consequences of Women s Precarity The systemic, cyclical nature of precarity for women in the labour market as described above creates significant negative consequences for individuals, families, and society. Though the consequences are numerous, a handful are presented here for illustrative purposes of how endemic this issue is. Low wages/income are an earmark of non standard/secondary market work. Women (along with youth and people with lower levels of education) are most likely to be working for minimum wage (primarily in service sector jobs) (Galarneau Fecteau, 2016). Lack of a living wage for secondary labour market jobs factors into the precarity model and economically disadvantages women/families. The economic inequality of women s precarity contributes to an even greater issue, their social inequality. The labour market and neoliberalism, in conjunction with economic austerity and an extreme decrease in social welfare initiatives (all factors in precarity), contribute to the social exclusion of women in Canada. Social exclusion the division between the haves and the have nots is spawned from the barriers ( socioeconomic disparities ) that prevent individuals or groups full participation in the social workings of society, and women experience it relative to their level of ... • 9. Democratic Views Of The Athenian And Spartan Governments The Athenian and Spartan governments had extremely different approaches to life. The democratic views of the Athenians were open minded and curious, focused on development. The oligarchic views of the spartans were more narrow minded and restricted, focused on constancy. The athenian democracy distributed power very well and gave everyone a fair share in the decision being made. Athenian life was comfortable and free, the polar opposite to the cruelty of Spartan life. The Athenian democracy also used their wealth very wisely inciting the development of their civilisation. Based on the information below, the Athenian population lived a happier life. The way the athenian government gave power was very effective and fair. Power is the hands not of a minority but of the whole people (From Alternative Two, from Thucydides, History of the Peloponnesian War) In the Athenian democracy decisions are made by a vote of the majority and then a decision is made by the outcome of the vote. Since all citizens could hold government positions (From powerpoint used in class, Athens and Sparta) The majority was making decisions based on what the people wanted modified or advanced, not a unwanted aristocratic tyrant like in the Spartan oligarchy. The citizens of sparta did not have this luxury. We give obedience to those whom we put in positions of authority (From Alternative Two, from Thucydides, History of the Peloponnesian War) This quote implies that in order for the Athenian ... He created a new electronic circuit in which the refrigerator shut down while the microwave operated and vice versa. Analysing the Microfridge: This 3 in 1 device consumed only 10 amps as opposed to the usual 20 amps while using a refrigerator and microwave simultaneously. This generated less heat and reduced the risk of fire. It was a compact device that occupied less space which was ideal for smaller rooms such as student dorms and motel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming an average of 200 students per college and a conversion rate of 50%, Bennett would need to target 120 colleges in a year. Recommendation and Plan of Action: To increase the customer perceived value of the product, the idea of partnering with Sanyo and using their brand name to promote the Microfridge could be explored. This would also help to tap in the market already available to Sanyo. As Sanyo is an older and more recognized brand, it would create trust and generate a greater brand following and value. Considering the potential competition the Microfridge may face, a comprehensive promotion strategy needs to be developed keeping the individual targets in mind. While the eagerness of the students to adopt the Microfridge can be leveraged to convince the administration to provide Microfridge as an amenity, various other promotion strategies can be considered. Bennett should send out sales persons to colleges and arrange meetings with the administration to create awareness of the Microfridge and its demand amongst the students. As the primary concern of the administration was fire safety in student dormitories, the fact that 90% of the students violate these norms by using hot plates needs to be highlighted. Then the fact that the Microfridge would reduce these risks can be brought home. A public relations program can be initiated where the Microfridge can be reviewed by the press. Therefore, celebrities are seen as role models for a lifestyle that might never be fully attainable by the average person, but can be imitated. This scenario was the product of a greedy, corruption filled industry sponsoring a trickle down effect. Greed and corruption play obvious key roles in this particular transpiration. They are counterparts for all parties involved. For example, homeowners know that wealth equals power, as professed by the materialistic culture created by ourselves. In order to (please pardon the colloquialism) keep up with the Joneses, one must have a big house, a big car and so on and so forth. Appraisers and realtors had a hand in determining the price of these homes, often doing so in an unorthodox fashion. Appraisers used false advertisement or rather false estimation in calculating the value of these homes, resulting in gross inaccuracies. However, as the play goes on, we learn that this said hero to the people frequently abuses his power through being ill mannered and arrogant to the public along with Antigone when she performs the burial of her brother. As we progressed through the play, Antigone approaches Creon and explains her reasoning behind the burial and that it was not an act of rebellion. However, cold hearted Creon responded to this by ordering the death of Antigone due to breaking his law and having a women assuming new rules in his city. As all of this is going on, we understand Creon is family to Antigone yet he cannot recognize her act of kindness to her brother. While not as much of a protruding act of abuse in power, Antigone does a decent job of representing instances of abuse in power to us along with the effect it had on the Creon, as a family member of Antigone as ... • 31. 10 Things I Hate About You Belonging Belonging and acceptance can be found in the relationships between people. This is clearly evident in the relationships in the taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you. It is shown through these relationships that we can see characters accepted and therefore feel a sense of belonging. Acceptance and belonging can be shown in the taming of the shrew by the relationship between siblings; that being Bianca and Katerina. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition which can be seen in act 1 scene 1 when Hortensio describes the sisters and again when Katerina is slapping Bianca and ties her to a chair. The use of juxtaposition, helps the audience to feel sympathy towards a character and deepen our understanding of the character s personality. The alienation of Katerina is highlighted through the crass treatment she receives from the unimpressive series of suitors in Padua, the way that her father clearly prefers her younger sister and his overall view of marriage as a way of gaining wealth. Therefore enforcing only through acceptance can we belong. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film director uses soundtrack to show the contrast between Bianca and Kat. It is evident from the opening scene of the movie, a low angle shot of Kat s beaten up car and loud punk rock, playing from it, that Kat doesn t fit in, and appears to not care. Unlike in Bianca s scene stereotypical pop music usually plays. This again differentiates the behaviour between Kat and Bianca. It also gives further insight into their differing personalities. The use of music helps to associate Kat with a subcultural group and enforcing her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Super Bowl Research Paper A huge thing to figure out about the Super Bowl is how much it would cost just to be there, you must first pay for a plane ride there. A plane ride can cost a lot of money, I suggest that since the Super Bowl costs so much without transportation, that you do not get a first class ride, that can cost up to double a normal plane ride. The cheapest airline to go from Spokane to Minneapolis is the Delta airlines. It would range from 400 500 dollars, first class being 600 700 dollars. At the airport you need transportation to get to where ever you are staying at, if you use Enterprise rent a car than you would pay about $415 a day+tax for an average size car. • 35. Should The United States Congress Adopt The Presumed... Ozair Manji Dr. Moses Capstone 24 September 2015 Should the United States congress adopt the presumed consent method for organ donations? Introduction to Policy Controversy The current system of the United States as well as most of Europe for organ obtaining is through presumed refusal, which is also known as the opt in system. In this system a person s organs cannot and, will not be removed from his/her postmortem body unless he/she has explicitly consented to this being done. (Taylor 383) Under this system, citizens must opt in to become organ donors by registering to become donors. Consequently, this method of obtaining organs does not produce very many organs up for donation. This is true for a variety of reasons, which is why many are suggesting the United States should adopt a new system of presumed consent. Totally opposed to presumed refusal, under presumed consent it is presumed that persons would prefer to donate their organs for transplantation after their death (Taylor 383). Perspectives on Existing Social Problems Presumed consent is also referred to as the opt out system because individuals would have the option of opting out of the system and not donating their organs. On a moral level, the debate between presumed refusal and presumed consent seeks to achieve the fundamental goal of organ donation. The goal is to show that their respective systems of organ obtainment are morally and economically superior to the other methods. Issues for social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay on The Enduring Loyalty, Love, and Compassion of... Imagine leaving your wealth, home, family, and even country behind for twenty years. While away, people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his wife and live at the cost of his possessions. On the other hand, a few people like Eumaios remain steadfast to the truth and work to maintain Odysseus estate and possessions. Eumaios, Odysseus swineherd, embodies compassion, love, and loyalty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eumaios feels the pain and hardship that LaĂ«rtĂȘs endures, as he feels that the distressed LaĂ«rtĂȘs needs instantaneous notice of his grandson s return. In addition to being empathetic throughout the poem, Eumaios loves those who need it most: Odysseus, TelĂ©makhos, and the swine entrusted to him. When everyone else had finished dinner and went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the vulnerable swine. Later, when TelĂ©makhos returns from searching for Odysseus, it is remarked that Eumaios kissed the young man s head, his shining eyes / and both hands, while his own tears brimmed and fell (16.21 2). In Odysseus absence, Eumaios essentially assumes the paternal role in TelĂ©makhos life, and Eumaios was ecstatic to see that his son had returned safely to Ithaka and avoided the murderous suitors. Another emotional scene takes place when Odysseus reveals himself to the faithful swineherd and cowherd. When Eumaios hears the news, he puts his arms around the old soldier, weeping, / kissing his head and shoulders (21.251 2).
