In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have
experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application,
and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those
not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be
useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we
discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between
different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach.
Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and
thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first
qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be
useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003:
347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2
For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across
different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a process performed
within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a

Article V, Vii, And Viii Of The Augsburg Confession
Article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession Article V states that through the ministry of
teaching the gospel and administering the sacraments, believers can obtain the concept of justification.
As article V states, For through the Word and the Sacraments as through instruments the Holy Spirit is
given, who effects faith where and when it pleases God in those who hear the Gospel, that is to say, in
those who hear that God, not on account of our own merits but on account of Christ, justifies those
who believe that they are received into grace on account of Christ (AC V: 2,3; Kolb and Wengert: 41),
it teaches that justification is given to those who hear the gospel. This is a missiological implication to
the ministry of the church, so people can hear the gospel and they can be received into grace on
account of Christ. Hartenstein argues that article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession are
inseparably connected in order to answer how missionary service should be conducted. His first
argument refers to the words of preaching and sees that article V suggests on how the proclamation of
the words depends on the office of the church. As he notes, The proclamation of the mighty message,
which occurs between heaven and earth, is about creation and redemption and completion of the world
and can only be carried out by those who have been especially assigned to such a task, who have
totally committed themselves to God, and who are prepared to proclaim on behalf of

Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay
Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they were
only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the nature of the
pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate, in the tragedy
Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager between God and
Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless of personal choice, is
bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of choice in the midst of
supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to the will of God, they each

/ Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and fated
endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from God,
differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal choices
of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with Job s fate
of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God makes example of
Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s preferential treatment.
Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
(40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test. Job s life and finally health are
viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not know the reasons behind his great
suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did
not Job sin with his lips. (41). Self pity creeps into Job s thoughts and words, but there is no
disenchanted turn from God. Instead in Job the reader sees a turn to God for relief and

The Physical Appearance of Class Differences and Wealth
Do you consider yourself a part of the upper class? In the society in which we live in today, it is
widely known that people at higher social classes obtain finer access to premier education. On account
of the statement previously mentioned, prestigious institutions steer the way to more business
relationships and eventually, a greater chance of obtaining a higher income due to increased job
opportunities presented through connections and networking. This concept is known as elitism and is
fairly popular belief amongst the competitive population. Elitism is the belief that certain persons or
members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived
superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources1 . But I would like to question the basic
premise of this argument since there is something more than just wealth which determines one s social
class. The argument I make throughout my paper focuses on the aspect of why attractive people are,
on average, wealthier and have higher paying jobs than less attractive people. This statement is a
theory I do not stand by alone. In order to persuade and convince to my readers that attractive people
are more successful, I will be citing documentation of well known facts reported by leading
psychologists, economists, and their research studies. A book that I occasionally will be referencing to

The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image
This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body
image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being
perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity
induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly.
One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including
whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is
ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel
valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and
aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most
teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots
meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can
be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self
conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should
be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a
day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better.

5.2.1 OVERVIEW OF VERILOG HDL Verilog HDL is a Hardware Description Language (HDL). A
Hardware Description Language is a language used to depict an advanced framework, for instance, a
PC or a part of a PC. One may portray a computerized framework at a few levels. For instance, a HDL

The Genetics Of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
The Genetics of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common genetic disease fatal in children, it is a severe and
rapidly progressive muscle disease with symptoms that first become evident due to the affected child
showing early motor developmental delay; for example, presentation of Gower s sign, a diagnostic
indicator of proximal muscle weakness characterised by the affected having to walk their hands up
their body to stand due to little strength being present in the lower limb.
By thirteen years of age the proximal muscle weakness is so advanced that the affected will be
wheelchair dependent, and as involuntary muscles (cardiac and respiratory) grow more affected
towards the age of eighteen, cardiomyopathy and respiratory diseases are common and often cause
death, with very few survivors past the age of thirty and the average lifespan at twenty five.
The cause of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the occurrence of mutations in the Dystrophin (DMD)
gene. The cytogenetic location off the DMD gene is Xp21.2; meaning at location 21.2 on the short
arm of the X chromosome from base pair 31,119,219 to base pair 33,339,609. DMD is the biggest
human gene currently known and instructs for the production of a 427 kDa protein by the same name.
The dystrophin protein is part of the dystrophin associated protein complex which is expressed at the
sarcolema and anchors muscle cellcytoskeletons to the extracellular matrix in skeletal and cardiac
muscle,

Importance Of Credibility In Public Speaking
Ordinarily, to establish credibility, public speakers should earn the audience s trust and respect by
presenting themselves as authorities on the topic that they are speaking. Consequently, the speaker
should not rely on the content of their speech to gain credibility with the audience. Self presentation is
important too since the public will start judging the communicator before the speaker begins to
communicate verbally. Establish the authority to the public by speaking about the topic by stating the
source of where the knowledge: experience, training, or research came into perspective. When
speaking to a skeptical audience, begin by finding common ground. Acknowledge the appeal of the

credibility is to speak loudly, clearly, and confidently. Confidence has become known to cause

Analysis of the Opening Sequences of Three James Bond Films
Analysis of the Opening Sequences of Three James Bond Films
Analyse the opening sequences of three James Bond films and explain why they are constructed in
this way.
James Bond has been running for forty years and has released twenty movies. My essay will analyse
the following three James Bond movies:
· Dr No (Starring Sean Connery, first Bond movie made)
· A view to kill (Roger Moore)
· Golden Eye (Pierce Brosnan)
For each of these movies I will analyse the opening scenes and explain why they are constructed in the
manner that they are.
In each of the three movies a different actor plays the Character of James Bond. In the first move (Dr
No) James Bond is played by Sean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He while gambling receives an urgent phone call (the conversation is not heard, this adds to the
movies suspense). The phone call as well as the camera shots emphasise his importance in the film.
The clothes worn by James Bond (a tuxedo) are very glamorous and sophisticated. They also
emphasise that he is important.
A view to kill, the second James Bond movie to be analysed in this essay, has the same gun shot scene
at the start, but the action in the movie is much better. This is probably due to the date of release
(1985). Dr No was released in 1962. The difference is probably due to more advanced technology
being available.
A view to Kill focuses more on girls and action. The camera angles used in this movie also make the
movie more exciting.
The first scene in this film shows James Bond (Roger Moore) skiing in the Arctic looking for a
microchip. He is dressed in white this may be a disguise to camouflage him (the snow he is skiing on
is white) from the villains who are dressed in green. The shots in this screen are close up shots and
extreme long shots. The extreme long shots emphasis the depth of the scene and also hide the stunt
mans face from the audience. The close up shots are used to show discoveries made by James Bond
i.e. the micro chip.

The Learning Of The Classroom
Introduction
When planning a lesson in the classroom it is extremely important to keep in mind all the needs of the
students in the classroom. Every student has their own level of learning and some have major needs
that may need some adaptations in the lesson plan. Currently, all my lessons follow along with the
fourth grade curriculum with sixteen students in the classroom. There are three students in the
classroom that have specific needs.
One female student has an IEP that calls for 120 minutes of services. These services include small
group settings in which the student received a high degree of focused attention on each content area.
Two male students are both considered English Language Learners. The first ELL student is
considered to be a level 3 WIDA at his previous school. He is currently being evaluated for a possible
IEP. He receives four 40 minute sessions of background building for all content areas per week. This
student also has seizure every so often, which may impact his learning. The second ELL student is
speaking at a level 6, writing at a level 2 and reading at a level 1 with an overall score of 2.8. He
recently joined the HMLS but immediately started receiving four 40 minute background building
sessions per week. At the request of his parents, he is also being evaluated for an IEP.
Besides these three students, there are other students who receive tutoring within the classroom. There
are five students who receive math tutoring on Mondays Wednesdays and

Brandix I4 Case Study
With the formation of Brandix i3 since 2012, the Brandix group had to face a drastic change in the
entire company. This situation is based on the theoretical field of change management. Change
management is a process of transitioning individuals, groups of organizations to the expected future
state. The main objective of change management is to ensure change s record, evaluation,
authorization, prioritization, planning, testing, implementation and reviewing in a control manner. It is
considered that major change is never successful unless the complacency level is low. However,
change is a common thread that runs through all organizations regardless of size of the organization,
industry or history. The key part of managing change depends on how far the people within it
understand the process of change. Change is a constant feature of organizational life and the ability to
manage it is seen as a core competence of successful organizations.

The Era Of New Technology
The 1990s was the era of new technology. This era consists of wars and a variety of inventions coming
into our world, such as The Persian Gulf War, and the Google Search Bar. This decade was a time of
all sorts of records broken and right into the history book, just like when Eilleen Collins was the first
female to become an astronaut. This is a start to something big in many years to come.
The Persian Gulf War was one of the great wars that helped America to be what is today. This war
helped people achieve freedom and liberty in their lives. Furthermore, the United States paid for the
war and it costs the U.S. millions of dollars in debt (NAGEL, 21). The war was declared on August
20, 1990. This war was declared because of Iraq s invasion in Kuwait on August 20, 1990. Iraq s
leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of
acquiring that nation s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding
Iraqi power in the region (EXAMINER.COM). Persian Gulf War took place in Southwestern Asia.
The U.S benefited some things not just for them, but for other countries. People said the U.S achieved
freedom for other countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These countries did not possess
freedom. One thing the U.S benefited from this war, was respect. Another thing the U.S. gained during
this war was allies, such as Iran. Also, the U.S. gained respect from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And as

When NFL players make a bad decision and they still get to play it gives athletes a platform for

example is Brandon Marshall. He has three charges and served a three game suspension for personal

The Missouri River Change
Reasons for Current Situation All of the 3,350 miles of riverine habitat within the pallid sturgeon s
range have been affected by man. Approximately 28% has been impounded, which has created
unsuitable lake like habitat; 51% has been channelized into deep, uniform channels; the remaining
21% is downstream of dams which have altered the river s hydrograph, temperature and turbidity.
Commercial fishing and environmental contaminants may have also played a role in the pallid
sturgeon s decline. The resultant changes to the Missouri River in the upper Great Plains from
channelization prevent upstream migration. The reduced water flow rates and sediment loads have
brought an end to the seasonal flooding of the flood plains in the region. ... Show more content on

Restoration of woody debris in native rivers may help the recovery effort. The states in which pallid
sturgeon live have adopted a variety of fisheries regulations to protect individuals of the species.
North Dakota, South Dakota, and Louisiana require live release of all sturgeon, Montana and Kansas
do not allow commercial harvest of sturgeon. Given the long time to maturity and intervals between
spawns, loss of any individual is detrimental. The need to determine the most likely areas of
spawning, to identify any parasite or disease that may be impacting the reproductive capabilities of
pallid sturgeon, and to examine engineering possibilities that may permit recreation of suitable
habitats without reducing the USFWS s ability to protect people from harmful and destructive
flooding, and to maintain its ability to provide adequate water impoundment for irrigation and

The Northern Renaissance And The Spirit Of The Northern...
The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic
Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by Italian
artists fleeing from French invaders. Northern Europeans quickly accepted Italian art, who combined
their traditions with Italian concepts to celebrate realistic portrayals in their paintings. The surge of
creativity in Flanders, the hub of the Northern Renaissance, at the time embodied the spirit of the
Renaissance, which celebrated inventiveness, as well as exploring new ideas. Jan Van Eyck, a Flemish
painter born in the late fourteenth century, lived at the beginning of the Northern Renaissance, in
which he created many famous paintings such as the Ghent Altarpiece, The Arnolfini Portrait, and The
Madonna of Chancellor Rolin. Jan Van Eyck s training in Flanders allowed the painter to procure
important court positions, in which he embodied the creative spirit of the Renaissance by mastering
the techniques of realism and intense detail within his painting The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin, and
the Eyckian technique of oil painting influenced many other painters of the time as well as modern
artists.
Jan Van Eyck trained with his brother in Flanders, where he secured high courtly positions, which
allowed him the freedom to further his mastery and worldview, embodying the Renaissance spirit.
Training with his brother, Hubert Van Eyck, allowed Jan Van Eyck to master painting. Jan and

Shift Of Emphasis From Racism
Shift of Emphasis From Classism to Racism
Disasters often present to a society the opportunity for self examination by stripping away the facade
and revealing the underlying problems and inequities that were overlooked and oppressed by the
established social order. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, not only did it bring about
complete destruction to the physical landscape, but it also brought to light the social inequalities and
vulnerabilities that were present and deeply rooted in the community, which became a social disaster.
Soon in the aftermath, many attempted to define and categorize Hurricane Katrina as either a class
disaster or a race disaster. The fact that the wealthy and well off families who could afford to reside in
areas safe from the floods and those who could evacuate in time to escape the Hurricane presented the
idea that Katrina was a class based disaster . On the other hand, the fact that the poor that remained
behind and suffered the full blow of Hurricane Katrina were predominantly black Americans
contributed greatly to the debate of race based disaster. However, when analyzing the timeline of the
disaster, it appears that during the pre hurricane period, the most prevalent issue was classism, where
the poor and desolate were unable to escape the forecasted disaster. During the period of
disorganization following the hurricane, the most prevalent issue was racism, where the discrimination

Essay Rear Window, by Alfred Hitchcock
In the movie, Rear Window, Alfred Hitchcock uses the story of a cripple free lance photographer, Jeff
Jeffries, to explain the twisted sense of society in the 1950 s. Hitchcock uses clever things from the
way the apartments are being filmed to the dialogue between Jeffries, Lisa, and Stella to show
societies interest in pain, tragedy, and discomfort, and in the end you see how tragedy is what makes
everyone happy. From the very beginning of Rear Window we encounter scenes where Hitchcock
shows Stella being sadistic, but we come to realize later that it is not just Stella. Stella is just the only
one who speaks out about it. You must observe all the other characters actions and reactions to truly
see. Stella tells Jeffries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the story goes on and she begins to believe Jeffries you sense that he is becoming more attracted to
her. The first big change is when she comes over and creates a believable story for him. In the
previous scene when they were kissing he wasn t focused at all, but after she tells him the twisted
story about the possible death of the neighbors he becomes intrigued by her and the kissing then
becomes passionate. The death of the neighbor s wife is what really allows you to see how the society
is corrupted. The biggest reactions of the neighbors in the movie come where there is death. The first
when the dog dies, and then when Jeffries is hanging from the window about to fall to his death. The
only truly happy couple, made obvious by Hitchcock during the film, is the couple that death comes
to, in the case of their dog. Everyone else in the film seems miserable and isolated only brought
together by death. The wife of the couple says it when she makes a comment announcing how
miserable of neighbors they are. Hitchcock uses misery, tragedy, and death to show the emotions of
his characters. At no point is this more obvious than the end of the movie. Hitchcock spends the entire
movie building up to this point and in the end he makes it extremely clear how tragedy has changed
the relationship of everyone. After the nagging husbands murder of his wife has been confessed you

Sacrifice Of Animals In War Essay
Introduction You might know that humans are dying in wars, but show some love to the animals that
sacrifice their lives as well! Imagine that you were taken out of college or taken out of the place where
you are now and be put into the battlefield without any sign up sheets. The anxiety YOU have from
the bullets zooming across your face, hoping that YOU would be alive and in one piece. Doesn t that
sound scary to you? This is what military animals have to live by. They are thrown into training and
when they are old enough to be in battle, they don t have the voice to say a simple No. if they had the
choice to be in war. Indeed, military animals have saved countless amount of lives and have truly
change the outcome of war, but is this all worth the sacrifice? The sacrifice of bringing your best
friend that grew a bond with you and have the chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe
that animals should be used in the modern warfare because history shows that animals like the
messenger pigeon has delivered many messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy
lines. While other people believe that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the
animal. In this paper I will present alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the
modern warfare, considering a variety of perspectives, and concluding with a position on animals that
are used in battlefields that seems most justifiable. Pros of Using Animals in War Yes!

Intervention In Chile
Chile had been state of turmoil for quite a while. Communist leaders rushed to make the South
American country theirs, and the U.S tried to deter Chile from becoming another communist Cuba.
Unlike many nations in South America, Chile had a past of democratic leaders. However, a new threat
arose. A Marxist politician named Salvador Allende, founded the Socialist Party of Chile. In the year
of 1970, Allende won the Chilean Presidential race. This was a big win to the Soviets, who paid
millions in secret to help him win. This was a not so great thing for the U.S, who also paid millions to
back his non socialist opponents. Then the U.S became secretly involved in plotting against the new
Chilean president. Quickly, it became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chile has been state of turmoil for quite a while. I do not believe the U.S should further aggravate the
already delicate eggshell of a situation that this current scenario is. However, I do think some positive
intervention may be beneficial. I believe that trying to negotiate with Chile s new leader may be a
good first action in trying to establish eased tensions. America is a democratic nation, and we should
protect that image. America is not imperialist, nor a nation of conquerors, but a nation of peace. Trying
to establish peace by supporting non communist leaders is not bad on it s own, but those leader s need
to be stable and trustworthy. Secretive political meddling in Chile, in my opinion, goes against the
American ideals of independence of one s own nation (Chile). The United States may gain a political
ally if intervention is proposed correctly, and perhaps even help keep Soviet backed communism
under locks in South America. However, if intervention fails, we could create a monster worse than
the current one, and create a false friend. The government under the monster could topple, and the
oppressed people may welcome what we were trying to avoid in the first scenario,

The Interactions between Short-Term Memory and Long-Term...
The Interactions between Short Term Memory and Long Term Memory: What is the Messaging
Protocol?
1. Introduction
Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve this. It might be
easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but the function of human memory is
much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of memory is to retain information, store them and
retrieve when it is necessary. According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if
only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life
at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are
nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one is the episodic memory which is related to personal experiences while the second one is
the semantic memory which is knowledge of words, concepts, symbols and objects. Surprisingly,
cognitive researchers believe that short term memory is a reflection of long term memory. However,
others argue that these two types of memory function differently. Thus, the link between STM and
LTM is still a controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and
researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major components of
memory.
Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect the other?
This paper analyzes the studies that have been conducted to look at the underlying relationship
between STM and LTM through the demonstration of a body of research conducted in this field.
2. Retrieving from Short Term Memory Information is stored in STM for a short period of time, and it
is retrieved from there. Of course, there are processes that occur during such. There is a task
introduced by Sternberg (2004) to determine the recall mechanism. In this task, a set of seven items is
presented one at a time, and the participants go over a memory test item which is called a probe. The
participants must decide whether this probe is on the set or not.

Chimpanzee Gene Flow Analysis
There are four forces of evolution that species can go through: natural selection, genetic drift,
mutations, and gene flow (Fuentes 98). Though species most often experience all four forces of
evolution at one point in their history, certain forces of evolution may be more significant to the
evolution of a particular species. This is the case for chimpanzees. Though it is evident that the species
was affected by all four forces throughout the history of their evolution, there is one force that proved
most significant in the process. The force of evolution most significant in the development of
chimpanzees as a species is gene flow. This analysis describes the dynamics of gene flow within
chimpanzee populations and explores the role of gene flow as the initiating factor and central
component in the evolutionary process and assessments regarding physical and behavioral similarities
among members of a species.
Background Information
There are two main ways gene flow occurs between chimpanzee populations. Migration is the first.
Migration occurs when individuals or groups of individuals move from one population to another.
This movement results in the transfer of genetic information from one generation to the next (Servedio
92). The transferring of genetic information causes genotypes to change within the ... Show more

Analyzing Peter Singer s Essay All Animals Are Equal
In Peter Singer s article All Animals Are Equal (Winston 29 36), Singer talks about the point of view
Jeremy Bentham had on the capacity to suffer, going into Bentham s idea on what humans would do
with non human animals in order to satisfy our taste for their flesh. That in order to have meat
products on the table at an affordable price to the population of that area, we must treat non human
animals like machines, enclosing them in unsuitable conditions for their entire life (p. 33).
Where I do not disagree with the basis of Singer s argument, I do disagree with some of the minor
facts used to support this argument. I disagree with the notion that the human race is ready to do
anything to another species in order to satisfy our taste, that non human animals are seen like
machines and they are kept in unsuitable conditions. In general, Singer s argument seems to be based
on vague points and generalizes the human population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

becoming vegetarians, and vegans in Canada. With this, those who do eat meat may only eat it
because it is a cheaper source of protein. Thus, the line about making meat affordable is true, as with
the rising rates of unemployment, the need to have meat at a lower price is critical, but that does not
mean society is cutting short on how these non human animals live. Those who eat meat based on
either choosing too or a low income, would hopefully wish that non human animals are raised in good

Stylistic Elements In Beowulf
The three stylistic elements I chose were rhythm, kenneling, and alliteration. Rhythmic an element in
major part because of the oral nature of the epic. The rhythm comes form alliterations and not from
usual meter and rhyme. An example of rhythm is, The nobleman s son then passed the steep rocky
cliffs, the narrow path, the narrow single filed path, an unknown way, precipitous headland, the homes
of many water monsters. Alliterations are a repetition of stressed sounds, particularly consonants from
the beginning syllables. An example would be Peter Piper picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers. Kenning
is a two word metaphorical name for something. An example would be the organ s house which would
mean the body.

a lot easier than the Senate, for simple fact you are going for a congressional district vote, and not a

My Experience Of A Heartwarming Experience At A Bible Camp
I had a heartwarming experience this past summer at a Bible camp where I volunteer as a counselor. It
was my first year volunteering and I wanted all my campers to have a great time like I always did!
One of my campers was a young girl named Vivian. She had a rough start to the week. Vivian did not
want to do any of the activities, follow the rules and she walked without a buddy at all times.
Unfortunately on top of all this, Vivian was very accident prone. The first three days she had visited
the nurse twice. On one of these visits she was checked to see if she had a concussion. Needless to say,
she was not enjoying her time so far at camp that week.
After the hard start to the week, she was not wanting to be at camp anymore and wanted to go home.
My job was to make her feel better and want to have fun! I decided to have a talk with her one night
before bedtime. We talked about how she was feeling and she had told me that she was home sick. I
suggested that she wrote a letter to her family. She got very excited and wrote a letter, drew pictures,
and put one of her crafts in the envelope to send to her parents. This idea of mine that helped her feel
better gave her the confidence to confide in me. She started to talk to me and tell me stories about
things she did back home. This made her less home sick and let her go to sleep that night without any
problems. After this night her week at camp turned around and she only had a few small speed bumps
along the way.

The True Disillusionment Of The American Dream
As a child, did you ever dream about something huge, like becoming a movie star or owning your own
mansion? Did this dream come true? For many people living in the 1930 s, as well as in Of Mice and
Men by John Steinbeck, their dream did not come true. Many people in this time period believed that
they could prosper and become successful; they believed in the American Dream. Steinbeck shows the
true disillusionment of the American Dream through his characters in his novel. Steinbeck uses Curley
s wife to show the failure of a Hollywood version of the American Dream. Curley s wife was a small
town girl who truly believed she could make it big in Hollywood. She always wore fancy clothes, like
a red cotton dress and red mules... (Steinbeck 31) and heavy eye make up. She never looked like she
belonged on the ranch. However, that was all she was: the wife of a rancher. Later on in the novel, the
reader gets a clip of her dream. She tells Crooks, Candy, and Lennie, I tell ya I could of went with the
shows. Not jus one, neither. An a guy tol me he could put me in pitchers... (Steinbeck 78). This gives
the reader a feel of her disappointment that she is just a wife of a rancher, instead of a famous movie
star. Later on, Curley s wife is talking with Lennie in the barn, and she opens up to him and tells him
more about her failed dream. There was two instances where she could have become famous. She

Eating Disorders
According to The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) website, eating disorders are actually
serious and often fatal illnesses causing serve disturbances to a person s eating behaviors. People with
eating disorders often have obsessions with food, their body weight, and their shape. There is,
however, a difference between an eating disorder and a diet. It is important to know the difference.
Eating disorders are a daily struggle for 10 million females and 1 million males in the United States
(Eating Disorder Hope). An eating disorder is a compulsion to avoid eating in order to lose weight
while a diet is cutting down eating or healthier eating in order to lose weight. The three types of an
eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. All three disorders
are important and they all deserve immediate treatment. No matter what eating disorder someone has,
it can resort in organ damage and sometimes even death.
The average that someone develops anorexia is 19 years old (NIMH), but that does not mean a person
can only be 19 in order to develop an eating disorder. The NIMH has reported cases of eating
disorders reporting in ages as low as .1 percent of eight to eleven year olds and .2 percent of twelve to
fifteen year olds. Eating disorders are becoming more common for students in high school and

Tragic Drama According to AC Bradley s Theory of...
Part one: Tragic drama according to A.C. Bradley s theory of Shakespeare
The substance of Shakespeare s tragedy solely points out to the power of death. In this five act play,
the death of important characters suffices for the cruel reality of life. However, a completely realm is
required in order to observe Shakespeare s version of tragedy. Shakespeare has used tragedy to explain
on the major paradoxes of life. It can be called a Paradox of disappointment. Defeat, unfulfilled
desired, failed hopes and then finally death are some of the faces of tragedies faced by Human. These
are realities of life and cannot be avoided. Although they form the foundation of our lives but are still
considered as intruders to our ideal version of life. This is the reason why when we are confronted by
tragic literature in this particular paradox, we become fascinated.
Bradley emphasizes on viewing the literary techniques used not as the basic constituents but as the
expression of tragedy. Some of the major characters in Shakespeare s renowned tragedies are Hamlet,
King Lear, Othello, and Macbeth. Most of these characters are individual sufferers as in reality; a
single man faces the paradoxes of life. In every work of Shakespeare, irrespective of the individually
unique traits, we find a shattered hope or a failed ambition as a reason for frustration. Hence, it is the
disappointment paradox which serves as the substance of any tragedy as per Shakespeare.
Furthermore, it is the death itself

In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application, and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach. Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003: 347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2 For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a process performed within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Article V, Vii, And Viii Of The Augsburg Confession Article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession Article V states that through the ministry of teaching the gospel and administering the sacraments, believers can obtain the concept of justification. As article V states, For through the Word and the Sacraments as through instruments the Holy Spirit is given, who effects faith where and when it pleases God in those who hear the Gospel, that is to say, in those who hear that God, not on account of our own merits but on account of Christ, justifies those who believe that they are received into grace on account of Christ (AC V: 2,3; Kolb and Wengert: 41), it teaches that justification is given to those who hear the gospel. This is a missiological implication to the ministry of the church, so people can hear the gospel and they can be received into grace on account of Christ. Hartenstein argues that article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession are inseparably connected in order to answer how missionary service should be conducted. His first argument refers to the words of preaching and sees that article V suggests on how the proclamation of the words depends on the office of the church. As he notes, The proclamation of the mighty message, which occurs between heaven and earth, is about creation and redemption and completion of the world and can only be carried out by those who have been especially assigned to such a task, who have totally committed themselves to God, and who are prepared to proclaim on behalf of ... • 4. Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they were only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the nature of the pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate, in the tragedy Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager between God and Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless of personal choice, is bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of choice in the midst of supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to the will of God, they each espouse quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... / Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and fated endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from God, differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal choices of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with Job s fate of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God makes example of Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s preferential treatment. Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. (40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test. Job s life and finally health are viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not know the reasons behind his great suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (41). In the society in which we live in today, it is widely known that people at higher social classes obtain finer access to premier education. On account of the statement previously mentioned, prestigious institutions steer the way to more business relationships and eventually, a greater chance of obtaining a higher income due to increased job opportunities presented through connections and networking. This concept is known as elitism and is fairly popular belief amongst the competitive population. Elitism is the belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources1 . But I would like to question the basic premise of this argument since there is something more than just wealth which determines one s social class. The argument I make throughout my paper focuses on the aspect of why attractive people are, on average, wealthier and have higher paying jobs than less attractive people. This statement is a theory I do not stand by alone. In order to persuade and convince to my readers that attractive people are more successful, I will be citing documentation of well known facts reported by leading psychologists, economists, and their research studies. A book that I occasionally will be referencing to is Beauty Pays: Why Attractive People Are More Successful and is written by Daniel Hamermesh, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly. One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better. A further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Genetics Of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy The Genetics of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common genetic disease fatal in children, it is a severe and rapidly progressive muscle disease with symptoms that first become evident due to the affected child showing early motor developmental delay; for example, presentation of Gower s sign, a diagnostic indicator of proximal muscle weakness characterised by the affected having to walk their hands up their body to stand due to little strength being present in the lower limb. By thirteen years of age the proximal muscle weakness is so advanced that the affected will be wheelchair dependent, and as involuntary muscles (cardiac and respiratory) grow more affected towards the age of eighteen, cardiomyopathy and respiratory diseases are common and often cause death, with very few survivors past the age of thirty and the average lifespan at twenty five. The cause of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the occurrence of mutations in the Dystrophin (DMD) gene. The cytogenetic location off the DMD gene is Xp21.2; meaning at location 21.2 on the short arm of the X chromosome from base pair 31,119,219 to base pair 33,339,609. A view to kill, the second James Bond movie to be analysed in this essay, has the same gun shot scene at the start, but the action in the movie is much better. This is probably due to the date of release (1985). Dr No was released in 1962. The difference is probably due to more advanced technology being available. A view to Kill focuses more on girls and action. The camera angles used in this movie also make the movie more exciting. The first scene in this film shows James Bond (Roger Moore) skiing in the Arctic looking for a microchip. He is dressed in white this may be a disguise to camouflage him (the snow he is skiing on is white) from the villains who are dressed in green. The shots in this screen are close up shots and extreme long shots. The extreme long shots emphasis the depth of the scene and also hide the stunt mans face from the audience. The close up shots are used to show discoveries made by James Bond i.e. the micro chip.

The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by Italian artists fleeing from French invaders. Northern Europeans quickly accepted Italian art, who combined their traditions with Italian concepts to celebrate realistic portrayals in their paintings. The surge of creativity in Flanders, the hub of the Northern Renaissance, at the time embodied the spirit of the Renaissance, which celebrated inventiveness, as well as exploring new ideas. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, not only did it bring about complete destruction to the physical landscape, but it also brought to light the social inequalities and vulnerabilities that were present and deeply rooted in the community, which became a social disaster. Soon in the aftermath, many attempted to define and categorize Hurricane Katrina as either a class disaster or a race disaster. The fact that the wealthy and well off families who could afford to reside in areas safe from the floods and those who could evacuate in time to escape the Hurricane presented the idea that Katrina was a class based disaster . On the other hand, the fact that the poor that remained behind and suffered the full blow of Hurricane Katrina were predominantly black Americans contributed greatly to the debate of race based disaster. However, when analyzing the timeline of the disaster, it appears that during the pre hurricane period, the most prevalent issue was classism, where the poor and desolate were unable to escape the forecasted disaster. Indeed, military animals have saved countless amount of lives and have truly change the outcome of war, but is this all worth the sacrifice? The sacrifice of bringing your best friend that grew a bond with you and have the chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe that animals should be used in the modern warfare because history shows that animals like the messenger pigeon has delivered many messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy lines. While other people believe that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the animal. In this paper I will present alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the modern warfare, considering a variety of perspectives, and concluding with a position on animals that are used in battlefields that seems most justifiable. Communist leaders rushed to make the South American country theirs, and the U.S tried to deter Chile from becoming another communist Cuba. Unlike many nations in South America, Chile had a past of democratic leaders. However, a new threat arose. A Marxist politician named Salvador Allende, founded the Socialist Party of Chile. In the year of 1970, Allende won the Chilean Presidential race. This was a big win to the Soviets, who paid millions in secret to help him win. This was a not so great thing for the U.S, who also paid millions to back his non socialist opponents. Then the U.S became secretly involved in plotting against the new Chilean president. I do not believe the U.S should further aggravate the already delicate eggshell of a situation that this current scenario is. However, I do think some positive intervention may be beneficial. I believe that trying to negotiate with Chile s new leader may be a good first action in trying to establish eased tensions. America is a democratic nation, and we should protect that image. America is not imperialist, nor a nation of conquerors, but a nation of peace. Trying to establish peace by supporting non communist leaders is not bad on it s own, but those leader s need to be stable and trustworthy. Secretive political meddling in Chile, in my opinion, goes against the American ideals of independence of one s own nation (Chile). The United States may gain a political ally if intervention is proposed correctly, and perhaps even help keep Soviet backed communism under locks in South America. However, if intervention fails, we could create a monster worse than the current one, and create a false friend. The government under the monster could topple, and the oppressed people may welcome what we were trying to avoid in the first scenario, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Interactions between Short-Term Memory and Long-Term... The Interactions between Short Term Memory and Long Term Memory: What is the Messaging Protocol? 1. Introduction Computers store data in memory, and simulate human memory when they achieve this. It might be easy to predict the mechanism of how computer memory works, but the function of human memory is much more sophisticated. Basically, the role of memory is to retain information, store them and retrieve when it is necessary. According to Bunuel (1984), You have to begin to lose your memory, if only in bits and pieces, to realize that memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all. Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing (pp.4 5). This simply illustrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one is the episodic memory which is related to personal experiences while the second one is the semantic memory which is knowledge of words, concepts, symbols and objects. Surprisingly, cognitive researchers believe that short term memory is a reflection of long term memory. However, others argue that these two types of memory function differently. Thus, the link between STM and LTM is still a controversial issue. Since memory has been of interest to psycholinguists and researchers, many tend to decode the message passing between these two major components of memory. Is there a messaging protocol that may link both ? To what extent each one can affect the other? This paper analyzes the studies that have been conducted to look at the underlying relationship between STM and LTM through the demonstration of a body of research conducted in this field. 2. Retrieving from Short Term Memory Information is stored in STM for a short period of time, and it is retrieved from there. Of course, there are processes that occur during such. There is a task introduced by Sternberg (2004) to determine the recall mechanism. In this task, a set of seven items is presented one at a time, and the participants go over a memory test item which is called a probe. The participants must decide whether this probe is on the set or not. Figure 1.1. Sternberg Task Diagram which is used to understand how people retrieve items from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Chimpanzee Gene Flow Analysis There are four forces of evolution that species can go through: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, and gene flow (Fuentes 98). Though species most often experience all four forces of evolution at one point in their history, certain forces of evolution may be more significant to the evolution of a particular species. This is the case for chimpanzees. Though it is evident that the species was affected by all four forces throughout the history of their evolution, there is one force that proved most significant in the process. The force of evolution most significant in the development of chimpanzees as a species is gene flow. This analysis describes the dynamics of gene flow within chimpanzee populations and explores the role of gene flow as the initiating factor and central component in the evolutionary process and assessments regarding physical and behavioral similarities among members of a species. Background Information There are two main ways gene flow occurs between chimpanzee populations. Migration is the first. Migration occurs when individuals or groups of individuals move from one population to another. This movement results in the transfer of genetic information from one generation to the next (Servedio 92). The transferring of genetic information causes genotypes to change within the ... • 32. Analyzing Peter Singer s Essay All Animals Are Equal In Peter Singer s article All Animals Are Equal (Winston 29 36), Singer talks about the point of view Jeremy Bentham had on the capacity to suffer, going into Bentham s idea on what humans would do with non human animals in order to satisfy our taste for their flesh. That in order to have meat products on the table at an affordable price to the population of that area, we must treat non human animals like machines, enclosing them in unsuitable conditions for their entire life (p. 33). Where I do not disagree with the basis of Singer s argument, I do disagree with some of the minor facts used to support this argument. I disagree with the notion that the human race is ready to do anything to another species in order to satisfy our taste, that non human animals are seen like machines and they are kept in unsuitable conditions. In general, Singer s argument seems to be based on vague points and generalizes the human population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 33) is not true for some people, but not everyone. • 34. Stylistic Elements In Beowulf The three stylistic elements I chose were rhythm, kenneling, and alliteration. Rhythmic an element in major part because of the oral nature of the epic. The rhythm comes form alliterations and not from usual meter and rhyme. An example of rhythm is, The nobleman s son then passed the steep rocky cliffs, the narrow path, the narrow single filed path, an unknown way, precipitous headland, the homes of many water monsters. Alliterations are a repetition of stressed sounds, particularly consonants from the beginning syllables. An example would be Peter Piper picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers. Kenning is a two word metaphorical name for something. An example would be the organ s house which would mean the body. Shippey, T. A., and Andreas Haarder. Beowulf. Routledge, 2014. • 38. My Experience Of A Heartwarming Experience At A Bible Camp I had a heartwarming experience this past summer at a Bible camp where I volunteer as a counselor. It was my first year volunteering and I wanted all my campers to have a great time like I always did! One of my campers was a young girl named Vivian. She had a rough start to the week. Vivian did not want to do any of the activities, follow the rules and she walked without a buddy at all times. Unfortunately on top of all this, Vivian was very accident prone. The first three days she had visited the nurse twice. On one of these visits she was checked to see if she had a concussion. Needless to say, she was not enjoying her time so far at camp that week. After the hard start to the week, she was not wanting to be at camp anymore and wanted to go home. My job was to make her feel better and want to have fun! I decided to have a talk with her one night before bedtime. We talked about how she was feeling and she had told me that she was home sick. I suggested that she wrote a letter to her family. She got very excited and wrote a letter, drew pictures, and put one of her crafts in the envelope to send to her parents. This idea of mine that helped her feel better gave her the confidence to confide in me. She started to talk to me and tell me stories about things she did back home. This made her less home sick and let her go to sleep that night without any problems. After this night her week at camp turned around and she only had a few small speed bumps along the way. Many people in this time period believed that they could prosper and become successful; they believed in the American Dream. Steinbeck shows the true disillusionment of the American Dream through his characters in his novel. Steinbeck uses Curley s wife to show the failure of a Hollywood version of the American Dream. Curley s wife was a small town girl who truly believed she could make it big in Hollywood. She always wore fancy clothes, like a red cotton dress and red mules... (Steinbeck 31) and heavy eye make up. She never looked like she belonged on the ranch. However, that was all she was: the wife of a rancher. Bradley s theory of Shakespeare The substance of Shakespeare s tragedy solely points out to the power of death. In this five act play, the death of important characters suffices for the cruel reality of life. However, a completely realm is required in order to observe Shakespeare s version of tragedy. Shakespeare has used tragedy to explain on the major paradoxes of life. It can be called a Paradox of disappointment. Defeat, unfulfilled desired, failed hopes and then finally death are some of the faces of tragedies faced by Human. These are realities of life and cannot be avoided. Although they form the foundation of our lives but are still considered as intruders to our ideal version of life. This is the reason why when we are confronted by tragic literature in this particular paradox, we become fascinated. Bradley emphasizes on viewing the literary techniques used not as the basic constituents but as the expression of tragedy. Some of the major characters in Shakespeare s renowned tragedies are Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, and Macbeth. Most of these characters are individual sufferers as in reality; a single man faces the paradoxes of life. In every work of Shakespeare, irrespective of the individually unique traits, we find a shattered hope or a failed ambition as a reason for frustration. Hence, it is the disappointment paradox which serves as the substance of any tragedy as per Shakespeare. Furthermore, it is the death itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
